if you ever wonder why i only post art every 1000 aeons this is because i only really ever post my digital art, and most of the art i make is traditional (and most of it looks like that pencil sketch to the left) and i share it with close friends. i like how this one turned out tho so i'm flaunting it

Looked at art FAQ and I hope this isn't too similar to the brush setting question óvò. But one thing I admire is how smooth and confident your lines are!! :0 They're so smooth!! Do you have any advice on how to practice or general tips? Do you utilize the stabilization tool? I've tried to use it here and there but I'm worried about relying on it too much. Also honestly using stabilization makes drawing feel "slower" and off.

i dont actually draw with stabilization on (very much at least. i think ive got it set to like 12%, so it imitates the drag drawing on real paper might have)

personally for learning smoother lineart other than the general rule of 'move fast, make swooping motions, redo it as many times as you need to get a broad stroke' is to draw traditionally in pen!

so like no sketch or anything underneath just Draw in pen. if u mess up either keep going or start over. this gradually kind of forces you to gain a confidence to your lines bc you got no eraser and no undo button.

additionally, i think this is part of why i really dislike youtube sketchbook tours... pretty frequently those sketchbooks are full of really beautiful clean pieces, and no mockups or swatches anywhere! nothing wrong with that ofc but i think culutrally as artists its given everyone a really twisted idea of what a sketchbook is for. theyre meant to be places where you practice and get loose! i sometimes draw the same thing three times on the same page if i mess up.

After two arduous weeks (Aug 1st - Aug 15th) the Sun cold porcelain figure is COMPLETE! DONE! FINISHED! HE IS HERE IN ALL HIS GLORY

Its been a long (and at times painful) process considering the time it took for all the stuff to dry and for me to have free time to finish this project, but now the silly little jester is in my hands and he looks SO CUTE AND COOL!! HE EVEN HAS A HOOK

A: The cold porcelain abt 3 ish days; Paint took 1 day and the varnish also a day (as it states in the bottle)

FINAL NOTES:

Yes, you can use colored cold porcelain instead of painting it! It's just easier for me to paint it over

- For the love of god, be careful when applying the varnish, that shit is bad for your health! read the instructions, do it in a ventilated area, and NEVER put it too close to your face, or u might get some not so good side effects ( like yer eyes burning)

No, i dont intend on selling him anytime soon sorry ( this was asked before regarding some other cold porcelain thing I did, so I just thought i would add it here)

- If u dont wanna spend too much money on the colors u can just buy some Yellow, Cyan, Magenta, Black and White (CMYK) along with some skin tones; u can basically make any color from those

- I used two of Sun's main poses in the game as inspo for making this

- His faceplate is supposed to spin but since it keeps falling off I decided to glue it

January and February dump

This is my most recent work of Lloyd, and my most recent work in general. I made this in the computer room at school with a painful high-sensitive mouse. We have these special course thing in our junior high, so every tuesday after class, I get to be in the computer room. For six hours... (My course is Visual Graphics Design. I'm kinda regretting it now since I've been thinking of becoming an architect... I can't change my course now since it's too late. Which is stupid.)

I'll try to draw more there! I really like drawing with a mouse cause I like the challenge. And since I'm not accustomed to a high-sensitive mouse, it'll be a bigger challenge for me!

I made these two in traditional then polished them digitally since I straight up just used a pen. I rarely use a pencil nowadays so I can learn to fix mistakes without erasing it. Usually it ends up looking like chicken scratch but I'm getting better.

My Harumi one is so bad lol.. When I was making it, my classmates around me were messing around and moving the chairs in the process, making me have to draw strokes with shaky lines. It's not that noticeable though since I made the lines thicker.

I was planning to make something for Rebooted's anniversary but I got busy... (And lazy) The PIXAL one was inspired by an animatic I saw.

If you compare the previous Arin portrait, yes, they don't look the same. I'm trying to find a look for Arin, as I do with every character, that I'll be satisfied with.

By the way, I'm kind of basing Arin's hair with my classmate's hair. Which is funny because my other classmates compared this artwork to my classmate, who looked nothing like Arin but have similar hair, commenting they're the same. (I'm not mad because I actually find this a bit humorous)

I was trying to make an animatic and this was going to be the sketch. But then again, I got busy and lazy. (Mostly lazy)

I accidentally changed their facial features a bit by accident on the second page because I forgot to reference the first page. It was tiring flipping pages every 5 seconds, ok! Also, I drew it after 2 days when I drew the first page, and I didn't have a design I liked for them yet. (...I just noticed Jay has different eye colors in both pages...)

I think I'm sticking to these looks for Lloyd. I'll try to make it accurate to this. (I think I did great with the first image of this post. Though, I made him too round for my liking.)

Discard the growing beard post redesign Lloyd has. That beard thing was supposed to be where his chin was until I realized it was too small. And it's still too small.

Child Lloyd is so cute! The eyeshadow wasn't intentional at first, but then it got me thinking, what if Lloyd had an emo phase? And now emo child Lloyd is my headcanon.

Pre redesign Lloyd kind of reminds me of TommyInnit, and I find it quite funny. Maybe it's the facial gesture, I know a lot of TommyInnit fanarts with that silly face.

For Dragons Rising Lloyd however, I want him to have long hair with his post redesign face. I'll try to make full body designs of the 4 Lloyds.

You guys probably don't care, and this is the first time you've seen me because I don't have an exact artstyle and I dont post as much, but I'm going to put descriptions now since this blog is going to be a silly little art dump! And blog posts are supposed to be descriptive. Which I should've done in the beginning and explained my works..

First art on a new tablet!

So, as an early birthday present I got an inexpensive portable tablet called a PicassoTab. I've had it for a bit but I've mainly used it to take notes for my externship and other things using the Squid notes app but I've finally sat down and pulled up mediabang and done real art.

So what do I think of this tablet?

The PicassoTab is an inexpensive general tablet that supports a real drawing pen. Basically, its a cheap iPad and apple pencil. Except I would definitely NOT call it cheap. Its actually a really nice little tablet and pen combo and I'm quite happy with it.

I'd liken it to my large Ugee tablet in terms of draw feel. Its very obviously a tablet and does not at all feel like drawing on paper. This can be a major downside for some artists to PLEASE keep that in mind. While I prefer my Gamon as far as draw feel, since I've used the Ugee before its not a huge downside and the portability makes up for that less than desirable draw feel.

The pen uses a single AAAA battery which isn't ideal imo. While it keeps the pen smaller and more pen sized, its a hard battery to find outside of online stores. Its not rechargeable so when the battery dies then you need a new one. Though there are rechargeable AAAAs out there, I dont know if they will fit as rechargeable batteries aren't the same size as their normal counterparts.

HOWEVER, I've been using this thing almost CONSTANTLY for over 2 weeks now and there is no sign of the pen dying so I think its got a good battery life and the passive discharge is minimal.

Whats nice about the Picasso is that its a general tablet as well as a drawing tablet. It has access to the play store and runs on android software. It came with 2 drawing apps installed and I really didn't care for them. But with access to the play store I was able to download mediabang which is a free software app that works wonderfully. It doesn't have all the same options as clip studio but its more than enough for the sketch book experience I want from this. I did make this art as a finished work on the Picasso but I didn't get it to replace my Gamon, just to replace the chunky sketchbooks and notebooks I used to carry around (and use less paper).

The other positive about it being a general tablet is that I can use it as a notebook, too. I write A LOT. Notes, lists, planners, ect. My house is stacked with notebooks of all shapes, sizes, and colors. I have SO MANY pens, too. Like WAY too many pens. But because the Picasso has access to the play store I can use the note app Squid to replace all of these notebooks and pens. I now carry around about 12 notebooks and counting in my purse and the notebooks have unlimited pages. Squid also lets you edit and move text after its written so its pretty easy to reorganize notes without rewriting everything.

So ya.

100% recommend if your looking for a portable sketchbook/notebook tablet.

I use clip studio paint for drawing.

I have 3 main brushes. Only one is an external asset. The 2 are default from CSP

1. Real G-pen - I use it for lineart, drawing hair, adding details and highlights. I tweaked it a little to my liking but its the default brush.

2. SU-CREAM Pencil - This is downloadable and easy to find its one of the most popular free asset in CSP ! I use it to block colors, generally when i draw backgrounds, i do not draw the lineart i just draw blocky shapes using this . And its pretty great on adding textures too, like trees, foliage etc .

3. Marker - default from CSP as the "Flat Marker" tool but i changed the shape and made it round by tweaking the settings of the brush shape. I also changed the settings on the opacity to be linear.

I use it for literally everything. I use it to shade and blend colors since i dont use the blend tool a lot.

I can easily control the intensity of the color when i changed the opacity setting to be linear helps a lot when coloring . I let the shading color pass through the base once and colorpic the resulting color.

Also this is an old drawing, but my coloring process is the same. I hope this helps!

What art supplies u use for ur traditional drawings

i use anything i can get mai hands on lol i LOVEE using multiple mediums x3c. i mainly use my moms office supplies (pens for notes, highlighters, mildliners, sharpies, etc) because i dont like buying art supplies. but also i still use micron pens, a japanese calligraphy pen i got for christmas, faber castel 4 pen pack, TOMBOW WATER BASED BRUSH PENS, copics, general store colored pencils, posca pens, etc. I'm trying to use more high quality supplies because i recently found out i dont hate watercolors i just have been using the most shitty watercolors known to mankind. my art class has a lot of high quality art supplies on hand and the teacher lets me use it whenever im in there for lunch which helps me a lot in exploring what i like. but thats all besides the point gommene! basically I use anything i can get my hands on but mainly for stuff i post its

- colored sharpies

- microns

- highlighters/mildliners

- colored ballpoint pens

- japanese calligraphy pen

- TOMBOW WATERBASED BRUSH PENS

Rn i am using talens art creation sketchbook, ive not been filling many pages lately as ive been busy with comms and other things, so idk how it holds up to different mediums yet, but I've heard good things, and paper feels nice

I have ohuhu alcohol markers, posca colored pencils and FC polychromos colored pencils ^_^ i also use tombow fudenosuke pen, + kuretake bimoji pen (the hard tip ones, not brush) and sometimes a Nikko Dip Pen G Nib with kuretake sumi ink ^_^

I also have ohuhu water based markers.... literally just like any regular markers from the store but they have brush tip and fine tip which i like ^_^ were also fairly cheap for when i wanna add color without bleeding/ghosting

For gouache i use winsor newton...im still exploring papers and brushes and such for paints, for the traditional comms im doing (alcohol marker + colored pencil) im using canson mixed media paper atm ^_^

And i have arrtx acrylic markers but dont use them as much ^_^ alsp assorted fine point sharpies and fineliners (staedtler and stabilo) but those are mainly for journaling and only incidentally used for drawing

so i mainly draw in clip studio paint and magma.com. uh... the latter i actually dont really recommend unless you want to draw with other people. (its honestly not too bad, my only real gripe with it is that it only lets you undo like 10 times.)

unfortunately i dont have all the brushes i ever used on magma saved. ive played around with the settings a lot and even drew without pen pressure at times, rendering a lot of the brush's features useless. i'm gonna do my best to share as many as i can recall using:

^ this one i used for the one i posted most recently (along with a simple big brush for the colored parts)

On clip studio paint i dont recall using any brushes other than the basic G-pen recently, which looks like this on my end:

Stabilizer is set to 0.

And though you didn't ask, as for traditional art, i've been drawing with an HB pencil on bristol paper lately.

tw: nudity, mild gore. nothing crazier than a nipple! but some SH :( please be cautious! my sketchbook is near and dear to me and i record nearly everything in it. good, bad and ugly

couple notes:

i keep 1 big pencil case with like 30 different pens and pencils and markers and… anything else i can fit in there really. other items, which are kept in numerous mini totebags (made for keychains) that are attached to said pencil case carry smaller items like erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue tape and and pos it notes for pasting. if anyone is interested in what i use traditionally i’ll happily share that too :D

as shown, the sketchbook is handmade (luv u bea!) and she went to a craft store looking fr a bunch of different colored and textured paper! a lot of the sheets accepts water color, which is a huge bonus. drawing on toned paper is always fun :D ive made sketchbooks before, and learning how to flat bind stitch is really easy!

theres something fulfilling in creating art in something that you made yourself. i’m not one to shy away from store bought, but after my bsf made this one for me anytime i find a sketchbook in store i end up comparing it to the one that was lovingly crafted for me. after i finish this book i’ll probably have to set aside some time to make a new one 🥲

What brushes do you use? How do you pick your colors?

I use these the most when working in SAI 2...Just switching blending on and off or changining their setting depending on what i need..Oh.. also just the simple 1 pixel binary ben..

When working in Photoshop.. which.. I rarely do lately.. I use either brushes by Peleng (Sergey Kolesov) or Iben Krutt... Mostly tho I use photoshop just to add some textures... like the ones by Tru Grit

in rebelle 5 there are these nice charcoals

in realistic paint studio the HB or B pencil with pen tilt support.. there isnt much to choose anyway

In CSP real G pen and 25 real pencil...

Regarding colors... I honestly dont know.. I have no understanding of colors.. so usually I just struggle untill something comes out.
