Summary: Dean Winchester is a senior in high school who gets paired with Castiel Petrov to complete a senior project. In order to graduate the two must work together to create a presentation showcasing both of their skills. The two of them were friends throughout grade school but have since drifted apart leading to awkwardness. Now that they are forced to be in contact again, will they be able to finish their project in time to walk the stage?

Excerpt: Going over to Dean Winchester’s house? The idea was preposterous. But here he was telling his dungeons and dragon campaign that he wouldn’t be able to make it to the meeting. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been to the Winchester residence, heck he didn’t even know if they lived in the same house. He remembered Mary would always have some kind of snack for the boys when they would come in after a hard day's bike riding. John would ask what trouble they had gotten into and while he warned not to go to certain places, Cas could tell he was eager for the boys to explore the world on their own. As far as the younger two Winchesters, Cas didn’t remember much. Sam was always studying, even over the summer trying to get ahead. And Liesel would hide in her room to play with their moms makeup. Some of those adventures were times that Cas would never forget.  He sent a quick text to his mom letting her know where he would be that evening. His leg bounced as he tried to pay attention in his calculus class. He looked at the clock. Two more hours and he would be in that black Impala.  “Mr. Petrov can you tell us what x would equal in this equation?” Mr. Morgan asked.  “Um, it would be six I believe.” Cas replied smoothly.  “Very nice,” Mr. Morgan said.

Danny Phantom eldritch/lovecraft mythos AU

So I just had this idea randomly while laying there getting stabbed repeatedly (electrolysis) and tbh I haven't put much thought into it beyond that but hey i figured why not share it:

AU of Dany Phantom where instead of ghosts, it's more eldritch stuff inspired by the Lovecraft mythos and adjacent material

Maddie and Jack are the classic archetype of "investigators tormented by the eldritch knowledge they've learned"

But hey on the bright side that knowledge lets them figure out how to make things that would otherwise be impossible

Instead of trying to make a portal, they were trying to make a device to seal a portal/dimensional rift

Danny still gets caught in an unintentional activation of the device his parents were making, like in the original

But instead of becoming a half-ghost, he has eldritch energy stuff from the rift sorta stapled into him

He isn't technically human anymore, but he can shape himself into an approximately human body well enough that he's just a little unsettling to look at instead of visibly monstrous so he can still act like a normal(ish) person

Technically any other similarly intelligent eldritch entity probably could do the same pretending-to-be-human thing too, but Danny having been a human kid for his whole life before that means it's a lot easier for him

Instead of "going ghost" he just kinda... unfurls his eldritch-y-ness

He probably struggles a bit to "detransform" actually, since his human form is more like a disguise than a fully distinct form he can switch between

I guess the ghosts would be replaced by the more minor entities from the mythos? I'm not super familiar with a lot of the mythos stuff tbh

and maybe dealing with human cultists too

The story's version of Amity Park probably takes a bunch of inspiration from Innsmouth

Oh that just made me think "The Shadow Over Amity Park" could be a fun title for this maybe

I did end up drawing him lookin kinda vaguely white yeah, because much as I enjoy the cross-internet treasure hunt for Tamsin Muir's little lore-drops, it's very difficult to figure out exactly what everyone is supposed to look like when the canonical in-book descriptors are 'he had a jolly kind face' and 'they were teens and their faces had a lot of zits'. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I kinda just guessed on Isaac, because I thought for some reason he had lighter colored hair. Guess I guessed wrong!

How fucked up would it be if gaster and the dreamers had a genuinely really good relationship in fell! Handplates but then shit hit the fan they turned cruel? Especially if gaster had an abusive family life before, I know from experience that if you were in a shit situation with abusive people, manage to leave and find new people only for them to turn just as bad as the last, it really fucks you up and can often make you feel like you’re at fault.

While I do prefer the Fell-from-the-start interpretation, I can see the appeal of torturing Gaster having the Fell be more of a Thing That Happens - an expression of persisting grief that the Dreemurrs can't pull themselves out of, and eventually grow into the shape of, and that feeling radiating out of them to the rest of the Underground like poison. How desperate Gaster would be to return to Before, and blaming himself because if he'd just been Better, maybe he could have saved them. Throwing his all into "fixing" them, to reclaim what's been lost

It's an interesting thought :)

ok 3 seconds to be a little pissy and pretensions about the last reblog, i kinda dislike how fandom engages with media transformatively????? theres just something wrong about it to me with posts like that. the way people make jokes like "why is this weird au so good??" "why is this persons version of the character so different??" like???? and the way that post has people defensive about their right to do something with a character outside of whats established because they yknow, like the character????

"you either know everything about the character or the version you like of them is completely incoherent with canon" is such a weird ass dichotomy. like maybe i know everythnig about a character and i want to expand even more on them, or i think theyre so interesting as their own unit i want to put them in a different context and see how they work. maybe i like them as a sort of thematic object or symbol and i want to bend that? like theres a lot of reasons why someone's interpretation/take on a character may be different besides "you just made them up". like people can appreciate something's text and then expand on it like???
