blame it on my youth - the chorus is annoying the first time it hits but the rest of the song is SO GOOD..... the running synth in the back is so good and the bridge is INSANE..... and it sounds SO CHINESE like, it sounds exactly like what's popular in c-pop now. they were right -- this doesn't sound like old wayv at all, and i miss old wayv, but i'm not gonna lie. i love wayv 2.0 😰 they can stay, i guess

poppin' love - ok first of all. the signature sm entertainment buzz sound at the start of this song scared me so bad. but also WHEN YOU LOOKIN AT ME IM SO OFF MY FACE hell yeah every wayv album needs a cuntenserven hornysad song

no one but you - probably my least favorite off the album, a little boring but still very enjoyable and cute. reminds me of something that'd be on exo's xoxo album.

invincible - first of all this song is so fun and second of all, we LOVE a fuck you song ... this is a song that can make me believe that wayv is not irrevocably fucked under sm entertainment <3

rodeo - cock music.... music to fuck and fight to.... beat goes hard, the producers knew the rapping would be bad so the made every other part of the song insane to make up for it. i thought i was gonna have a heart attack and die the first time the beat dropped. i haven't watched any of their promotional programs yet but i can't imagine how they're gonna convince me that this song isn't about riding dick.

moonlight - this is my favorite song off the album, and it has the most wayv 1.0 feel. it's got their signature sweeping orchestral instrumental and the dramatic prechorus to the vocal bridge w/ the xiao dejun signature belting. this would have kicked ass as a title track. from the very first millisecond this sounds like classic wayv

lighthouse - among my mutuals i am a noted ballad apologist... and i don't usually like wayv ballads (i hated face to face with a passion and similarly couldn't stand horizon) but this is good.... ballad-haters might quibble and say that all ballads are the same/boring, but i think this one doesn't fall into the low-energy pit that their others do. the chorus is super strong and memorable, and i can see myself reaching for this all the time. like, no ballads are high-energy, but this one has momentum!!

be alright - the obligatory feel-good concert closer of every nct album is the bane of my existence but i actually vibe w this one... the bass line is cute and bouncy and the chorus has those wayv orchestral instrumentals. i'm honestly so relieved that be alright was good, because it was potentially going to be the weakest link, as the feel-good closer always is, but yeah..... closing the loop and making this into a true no-skip album for me <3

1. Chairlift - Funny story, theres a lot of music that I’ve just refused to listen to again because it reminds me of a specific time in my life. One off-limits album that I used to love is Moth by Chairlift. I randomly discovered recently that I can listen to it again without it feeling tainted so that’s exactly what I’ve been doing! I’ve had that album on REPEAT!

2. flor - One of my favorite bands since high school. I adore the lead singer’s voice so so much. It’s just really lovely. Check them out!

3. TWICE - Yay! It’s Twice! I love them! Honestly it’s been a little while since a Korean Twice release has really clicked for me but With YOU-th really really clicks. So happy! (☆_☆)

4. Liang Lawrence - honestly I don’t know a thing about her but I found her on one of those “made for you” spotify playlists. 1st song: song of happiness - how i imagined a trip album song would sound like - honestly its not that upbeat but its really cute! skip the others cuz those are bangers Romantic X-Day full ver - maomako part in 2nd verse <3 - i love the full version omg im sad there is only one instrumental song and its a bit underwhelming (?) but its just me BUT I REALLY LIKE THE SONG TITLE hokuto solo song - the song has a different personality than him - its really cute and upbeat - different from his first solo and its :D subaru solo song - thought it would be a bit more balladish - jumpy like subaru! - so cute makoto solo song - makoto yuuki haters went silent after this released - how i imagined this song would sound like its so jumpy and cute - redemption arc after his first solo song always got ranked last mao solo song - mao isara if it was a song - the guitar is so him - it fits him sm overall the album is still a 10/10 i love trickstar <3 :3

It probably goes something like this

1- Pork Soda (everytime I listen to this song I feel the URGE to scream the lyrics from the top of my lungs)

2-The other side of paradise (what can I say I was an animeme kid…and also that bridge…kills me every time)

3- Youth/Life itself (I really can’t pick a favorite between the two they just both are so dear to me…youth’s beat has this sort of magical-ish vibe to it while life itself is super upbeat and honestly one of the best album openers I’ve ever listened to)

4- Agnes (calm, a little whimsical, perfect way to end the album tbh. After the whole journey that are the rest of the songs this one really is the perfect conclusion)

5-Mama’s gun (fun fact I didn’t really like it at first but it grew on me. I love it sm it’s like relaxed but then slowly gets more intense and AAAAA)

6-Poplar St (Like Mama’s gun it grew on me. I feel bad for the guy that the POV of the song is from too. But it has a nice beat it’s cool :])

Felt like re rating the clancy album 2 months later after release because I've listened to each song like 100 times now and can definitely tell u how I feel about each

Over all how much I like the album 9/10

The songs in my order of favourite:

1. Next semester - This song has such a special place in my heart, the lyrics + the music are great and I have like a few core memories related to this song, it actually started snowing hard here which NEVER happens when I first heard this song and I went outside and the ending of the song started playing and I was so in awe at how beautifully it was timed. Then I heard this song at the concert in London 9th May literally best day of my life I still can't believe I actually met them and they signed my sketchbookkkkk. And then yea just the entire part "ooooo can't change what you've done start fresh next semester" I literally levitate to heaven every time i hear it 10/10 song

2. At the risk of feeling dumb - literally SO GOOD it's so good literally both the message and the song itself are so perfect I love it sm

3. Navigating - YEAAAAAA bro the amount of hype and energy I feel the second I hear this song and the guitar and drums I JUST AAAAA HELL YEAAAAAA and then the way he sings "My oh my" IS SO GOOD AND NICE TO LISTEN TO? banger song

4. Routines in the night - I GROOOOOVE to this song my god it's so good I can't believe that navigating and routines in the night are some of Tyler's least favourite songs he wrote on this album literally HELLO WHAT thank you josh for making him keep them on the album because I can't imagine a universe without these songs I think I'd die I love routines in the night it's literally perfect for listening to while walking around at night

5. Midwest Indigo - okok this is SO specific but it reminds me of kids by kyle Dixon and Michael stein from stranger things but instead of it being a warm summer vibe it's a cold winter version of it? LOL IDK I love it though, especially the silly little "What's your ETA? 2 MINUTES! Chill out man we're right on time" it's great. Plus I in general find the song very relatable so it's high up here on the list.

6. Snap back - THE WAY HE SINGS "I have seem to run out of excuses as to why I am this is way" UGHHH I LOVE IT but no yea this song is really nice to listen to when Im in a low mood and keep over thinking. The melody is so simple but his voice enhances it by like 1000%

7. Backslide - I actually find it very similar to snap back in terms as to why I listen to it a lot, I like how he isn't afraid to make songs about things like this. I think the lyrics "I should of loved you better do you think that nows the time you should let go?" unintentionally helped me get through a really tough period of my life I've had recently, just in general this song was too perfect for the situation I was in.

8. Overcompensate - BANGERRRRRRR AAAAA 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 I absolutely love the build up in the beginning and the drop it reminds me so much of jumpsuit

9. Paladin strait - oh my god OK another really specific reason I love this song - I literally maladaptive daydream 24/7 no over exaggerating, and this song I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS but around the 2:46 mark when it starts building up my daydreaming just kicks in so goddam hard I have such a vivid OC animatic in my head to this song (I honestly do to most songs I listen to) but boyyyy MmMMMMM this one hits hard and good. Ok anyway the song itself I love it, especially the ending part I wish there was a whole ukulele version where he sings the whole song like that.

10. The craving jennas version - ok this is funny because I used to dislike this song and would skip it, not because the song is bad, it's beautiful and absolutely adore it especially now that stuff has changed in my life, but because I wasn't able to listen to any love songs without feeling sick and upset. Now that I'm better I absolutely love listening to it, it's such a beautiful song and you can really see how much he loves his wife

11. Oldies station - I LOVE listening to this when I'm travelling on a bus or a train and just seeing the cars and city go by, i really feel like I've grown as a person and understand the song so well.

12. Vignette - I actually never go out of my way to listen to this one, not sure why, I'll happily let it play it's good but I just literally prefer every other song

13. Lavish - This is gonna get me killed but never have I once ever disliked a song by TOP... S.E.S. - I'm Your Girl

It’s amazing that Wikipedia labels this album as “dance-pop” because it really isn’t. Or maybe I’m just frustrated at how many– actually let’s count. 5 songs definitely aren’t dance pop, 5 you could consider dance pop. So at max it’s half dance pop, and more likely it’s 3 or 4. Oof. Anyway, I’m kind of bored; this album really bored me by the end. But Unnamed Male Rapper was super present in this album, that’s interesting. I probably won’t save a single song from this album – average of 6.2. I’ll let that speak for itself. Maybe my expectations are still raised by Pink Tape.

Anyway, that’s the original project done with: I’ve listened to a full album by every SM girl group ever, all 10 of them. So what now?

I’m still not totally satisfied. The jump from The Grace to Oh! feels really jarring, so I think I’ll check out SNSD’s debut release. I also want to revisit Perfect Velvet, a bit more aespa, check out f(x)’s debut release, 4 Walls, maybe GOT the Beat too. I also might listen to another S.E.S. album or two, and maybe another Sugar album, maybe The Grace.

Usually I don’t include any songs that I already know, but I’ll make an exception this time around because 1) I make the rules here and 2) Not including the literal title track would be a bit odd.

Here's what I thought of IVE's 'I've IVE'

An 11 songs album! I almost thought Starship will go the Blackpink way with IVE, releasing barely any songs and keeping the public desperate (it would've been a fail if they did that anyway lol).

It's actually really good! It has a very IVE vibe, if that makes sense? Like the thing that makes IVE stand out, it's oozing from this, it's beautiful.

Starting with the title track —

I AM

It's BEAUTIFUL, it's everything I wanted and more! Also Liz finally got her lines!! I saw someone say that Starship gave her too little lines in Kitsch on purpose to start a scandal, to get people anticipating IVE's album, and I completely agree with that.

Liz's part in the second verse is my favorite, in the MV too it gives a very luxurious vibe and I LOVE that. Leeseo's parts are really good too, though, I never noticed just how good her vocals are.

THE ENDING CHORUS WAS LIT, THE LINE "I hope you'd be someone's dream come true" IT JUST I JUST LOVE IT

tbh i am very satisfied with the variety of concepts twice has tried! i can't say the general vibe isn't the same for most of their work, but they've broken out of that following breakthrough and feel special, methinks

for a long time, i've kept up with them casually like i did with snsd; i only really got serious once i was lucky enough to see them in concert this year :,)

it was only after i looked through all their discography and saw them in person did it really hit that they've worked so hard to be where they are now; just the sheer amount of media they've produced over their career is enough to last a thousand lifetimes, but they're all just as committed to us, and each other, as always

i'm very inspired by their work ethic and how much they just love their job, and it makes me hope that i can find smth like that for me~

First of all, ty, anon

An oh yeah, I've felt that way about P3 since I joined the fandom and I'll keep feeling that way! Fair warning though, I'm probably about to share some #unpopular opinions.

Tbh, I don't really understand why so many people like the phase. Most of the time, the reasons I get are "pirate aesthetic" or "pretty art," and that just...meh to me.

I don't hate the all the writing choices in P3, but I think they could have been executed so much better. It would have been really easy to write out an arc where Murdoc unravels and has a breakdown without making his character basically irredeemable. I had whiplash going into P4 when P3 was HARDLY addressed and the band was all back together and, for the most part, happy. Sure, I could come up with my own fanon for why, but it's annoying to have to do that over and over. I understand they didn't have anything planned out back then, but the transition could have been a lot smoother.

I attribute a good portion of the interpretations of Murdoc as a static, one-dimensional, evil villain to P3. So no, in a way, I don't understand why this phase as seen as THE Murdoc phase, especially when it's the source of a significant portion of the, uh, for lack of a better word, shallow Murdoc interpretations. A lot of works from this phase focus more on 2D as well...so yeah...Murdoc phase where? Of course, this doesn't apply to all of them! There are some great interpretations out there.

The phase, overall, is just very disorganized! It was never finished and initially, it was hardly addressed by later phases. It's ending was retconned, the processing afterwards, skipped over until SM where they decided to revive it to pander to a particular subset of the fandom. Even the things people claim make the phase great, like Murdoc writing the album and ~showing his remorse through the lyrics, or showing how smart he is by building Cyborg Noodle, aren't entirely true (he stole lyrics/demos from Damon, he commissioned another company to build Cyborg Noodle). His relationship with 2D is non-existent (this isn't a 2doc phase at all to me, personally). There was honestly VERY little Murdoc “character development” this phase.

And on a pettier note, I don't like the music. Heh.

This all probably sounds mean, but it's how I feel! P3 gets a thumbs down. Idc about pirate stuff. If you’re going to give me Murdoc angst, give me good Murdoc angst that’s actually about Murdoc, not 2D. If you’re going to make him irredeemable, then at least commit to it, and don’t flip flop one phase later and confuse everyone into discoursing for the next 5 years over it.

I'm always open to other perspectives though.
