ok this is the fist one (still very pleased with colouring here T_T the stage lighting was,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well yeah as always lmao) and this is the most recent (TBH DKJSKDSDK I WISH MY MOST RECENT POST COULD BE A DIFFERENT ONE THE ONE I WANNA MAKE FOR A MONTH NOW THE ONE ID PUT A LOT MORE EFFORTS IN SO IM A LIL FRUSTRATED i literally just missed giffing but couldnt watch anything new so took an old vid i wanted to gif once I DIDNT EVEN USE MYCOLOURING PSD IT LITERALLY HAS ONLY COUPLE OF LAYERS uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :( but whatever,,, it just kinda doesnt show the difference -_-)

well 👁👄👁 there r quite few,,, and the main reason is colouring most of these r comps and i a b s o l u t e l y sucked at comps and esp at making the colouring consistent there lol so lets begin lol  1 (u have no idea how muchi love this set) 2 (i fucking mastered it i wanted to remake it for two years and i finally did!! 60 fps smooth good moments iconic performance iconic hair colour his attitude bruh and ofc the fact that i could do sth with colouring,,,,,, and chose such an unusual colour scheme that i doubted jckdckfdk and it still worked out 🥺) 3 (lol i had this idea written down since 2018 as well and this year i could finally collect all moments i needed and oh boi yeah,,, AND COLOURING I COULD ALMOST yeah almost do sth decent with it there r still couple moments id changed but im pleased) 4 (im so happy whenevr i see this CUZ IT ALL WORKED OUT it was such an impulsive comp i literally only saw couple moments for past few years as well where i could see three of them in one frame and suddenly I WAS LIKE I FUCKING MUST POST THOSE MOMENTS SOMEHOW and im so proud of colouring it looks so well T_T) 5 (the colouring ofc im still :o that i could get rid of that shitty shit dkksjkj AND THE MOMENTS ITSELF?????? AND BLACK SWAN???????? EVERY PERFORMANCE???? HAIR?????? OUTFIT???????? EVRERYHTIGNM???????? HIS FUCKING STARE? FACE??? DONT MAKE ME CONTINUE AAAAAAAAAAA also if im not wrong this set in particular made me start my before/after posts 🥺) 6 (i jujst love everything about it e v e r yt h i n g also i could made ppl believe that jin fr has purple hair here when in reality its brown djhfdhskdf one of blending modes or adjustment layers worked this way lol) 7 (i wont even comment this tried a great tutorial with great beautiful resuls for the first time ever and it worked out so well and i like it so much and the whole yoongi here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, also love me some borders that add cinematic feels to some gifs or just make them pretty in a dif way just like i did with prev post i mentioned imo lol) OK LAST ONE 8 (I USED A VIDEO OF STARS AND ADDED IT TO THE GIF FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I FUCKED WITHMASKING FOR 3 HOURS GRRRRRRRR THIS IS SO HUGE FOR ME!!!!! i cant even explain whew IVE NEVER DID ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE SO I WAS REALLY PROUD TOO even tho i fucked masking up on some layers lmao but lets not pay too much attention to it 👀)

ohhhhhhhh i think this one cuz the moments were long i couldnt decide what do i want to include + it ts file so u kno,,, the speed,,, of processing,, + somehow decided to put them all together + fucked with colouring + had to get rid of the logo and as we know japan likes a lot of big braight text around haha and draw hair in moments where logo made it look blurry + had to adjust the order and all that stuff but getting rid of logo was the longest part

as a side note, i think it rly shows the strength of the writing that the feeling of the narrative can change so much, esp when u take into consideration that we jump between the points of view of TWO characters? like with cinder we’ve gone from sheer fury to gruesome sickness, and with glynda we’ve gone from Complete Dissociation to this gentle and soft morning and you can feel it absolutely fluffing up in every word! still love how good the writing in this fic is its NUTS

it’s very spoilery! also this is probably incoherent, i read the book on a transatlantic flight with the concomitant levels of sleep deprivation but in my defence it was an excellent distraction?

this book probably works better if you love kujen: which, inevitably, by the end of the book I did, being a person of weaknesses.

i had some frustrations? kujen is the author and architect and mathematician of the high calendar, and i still don’t understand what he wanted. the remembrances are a feature, not a bug, right? but why? because, yes, that glittering-cold person was drawn very well, but he didn’t seem.... human enough to care. obviously torture did not bother him. obviously. but he’d have neutralised a lot of problems if he’d come up with a calendar that didn’t require it, and there was no real suggestion this was just impossible.

at first i thought that line about the starving child in his diary was code. it literally did not make sense to me.

and there’s an explanation for that, right? kujen having flensed away the inconvenient, painful parts of his personality. the hexarchate, in which the vidona torture a dozen people to death before dinner but no one starves. there’s a grief the book kind of circles around, for this brilliant beautiful person who unmade himself, for the hexarchate that was and could have been. only you can’t grieve for it, because the hexarchate in reality was evil through and through. (and i do kind of dislike psych-surgery as an explanation for kujen - like, yes, he makes the choice not to care and can’t unmake it, but i’d prefer his characterisation not to require artificial intervention.)

Everything came to Jedao in double vision. Equations he had once puzzled over revealed themselves to him in lattices of starfire clarity. People diminished to flicker-motes in the tapestry of years. Jedao could have lingered forever, entranced by the world as Kujen saw it; would have given anything to share it forever, except -

i don’t understand why kujen kept jedao around, if i’m honest. did he love him? he wasn’t capable. but maybe that fascination, a talent he couldn’t imitate himself - the power of having the immortal undefeatable general in your back pocket, your genial gun. but he always knew jedao wanted to remake the calendar. maybe the danger was part of the fun? only, i wish i weren’t having to speculate so much.

“Oh, child,” he said. His voice was so matter-of-fact that Jedao’s hackles rose. “No one else will ever love you.” After that he was gone.

(there’s a kind of implied parallel between kujen and mikodez that’s really interesting. it does hurt mikodez. he doesn’t forget the cost. he doesn’t walk away from humanity into the black cradle. but the thing about mikodez is, just because it hurts doesn’t mean he won’t do it anyway. he had it a lot easier than kujen, really.) (the shuos aren’t the nice faction.)

ALSO IT WAS FUNNY. i loved kujen being imperturbably awful while mothling Jedao flailed around trying to cope and almost accidentally winning, it was great. “Physics is for the weak,” Kujen, bless <3

speaking of losses, though: i hope Cheris gets some of herself back, someday. she won, right? but: she couldn’t kill Jedao. the most important thing she did was leave enough shards of herself with Jedao to fight Kujen in the only effective way, i.e., mathematics. that grief, again, because Cheris makes herself into a gun, too, and it doesn’t even work. (her assistance with that last formation seemed like frankly an afterthought.)

....was the moth plotline actually resolved? presumably, mothdrives have become erratic because they’re people and the harness is an exotic effect they can choose not to have applied to them. how much of a problem for the protectorate is this? given it isn’t resolved, presumably it’s not actually much of a big deal??? idk? did i miss something??

this has already gone on forever and I haven’t even touched on Brezan, who was just so perpetually Done with everything and everyone, it was great. or Kel Inesser!
