I have seen so many attempts at giving Donnie a crossover ship. All of which have their own merit.
Donnie x Hunter (The Owl House) - Hunnie, Hunnie buns : Cutest fucking ship names I have ever darn seen. The vibes for these two are so much like first loves and like two greysexuals who find themselves comfortable around the other. Also both of them getting to geek out about their autistic hyper-fications together brings me so much joy. If you can't tell this one's my favorite.
Donnie x Raven - Ravetello, Dark Tech : Pretty good love the vibes and aesthetic of them together. But my love for Beast Boy and Raven together is so great that the idea of them with somebody else just feels wrong.
Donnie x Robin - Robintello : Generally snarky vibes from these two. Losts of dumb flirting. First of all the Robin he's probs gonna be shipped most with is Tim maybe Dick. Tim never ages and people tend to write him a bit off, cannon comics and in fics. Dick is just too old in comic and fic, most of the time he's like 24+. Robin Teen Titans era is a bop though Dick x Donnie could go somewhere. Also Tim is like so intertwined with Kon and he's dating Bernard, wouldn't really work.
Donnie x Cyborg - ??? : As a concept nice, not much on them but to geniuses being dumb dumbs together is wonderful. No hate to Victor but it is so easy to draw lines between hima and Raph, that just thinking about Vic with Don it drifts to comparing him to Raph. Just a shame really, gotta watch out for tcestors and shit.
-
@/artaboutathin & @/starclear_ : These two posted very nice Hunnie art, first ones I ever saw
@/julietea_art : Also on TikTok, love their Ravetello stuff it's very cute
@/v0idthz : Yes all these people are from tictok, they make very nice edits of Robintello
Unfortunately haven't seen any tictoks for Don and Vic

“Order up! Table seventeen.”
You let your slippery white shoes glide across the checked floor as you slide up to the counter. You grab the plate from off the rack and trot out from behind the counter to deliver it to table seventeen.
“I got a burger and fries?” you ask, placing the plate down and proceeding with the rest of the order. You load the family’s dirty dishes onto the tray and snatch up the ringing telephone as you pass by it.
“Chadney’s Restaurant, how can I help you?” you say into the speaker.
“Hi, I’m calling for Y/N?”
“Uh…yes, this is she?” you respond, setting the tray down. “I’m sorry, who is this?”
“Oh Y/N, perfect, this is Steve, your cousin,” the voice replies.
“Steve Binder? Why are you calling me at work? Didn’t your mom give you my new home phone number?”
“Yeah, but I knew you wouldn’t pick up. Listen, I’m in a bit of a bind at the moment, and I was wondering if you could do me a favor?”
“What kind of favor?”
“Well, seeing as you’re right across the way here, I was just wondering how many people are in the restaurant right now? Do you think any of them would be willing to come down here to be part of a live studio audience?”
You sigh, glancing around the restaurant quickly. It’s later in the afternoon, but because of the restaurant’s vicinity to NBC, it’s usually crowded most of the day. Only a few tables are empty.
“Yeah, it’s busy. I don’t know… there are some younger people. Who’s performing?”
“Elvis Presley.”
You feel your mouth drop open and your blood run cold.
“Y/N! We have orders ready to go out!” You wave a hand dismissively at your boss screaming from the kitchen.
“So, do you think anyone would be interested?” Steve presses.
“Yeah, maybe, I don’t know. Listen, I have to go. If you want them, you’ll have to come down here and get them yourself. I gotta go, Steve, bye.”
You click the phone down before he has a chance to protest and get back to work. You’re only able to run about two orders out before the door swings open and you glance up to see your cousin waltzing in with another man you don’t recognize.
“Hi everyone! If I could just have your attention please!”
Murmurs spread throughout the restaurant as forks and knives clink down onto the old yellowed ceramic plates. Silence settles before Steve continues.
“Hi all, I know this is sort of out of the ordinary, but my name is Steve Binder, and I work for NBC. We’re actually across the street right now gearing up to film a show with Elvis Presley, the King of rock’n’roll, I’m sure you’re all familiar. Unfortunately, we seem to have lost our audience. Again, I know this sounds strange, but would any of you be interested in attending the filming to be part of a live audience?”
You hear a gasp and turn to see your coworker and only true friend, Candy, standing next to you. She glances over at you with a big smile and nudges your arm with her elbow.
“Elvis!!” she whispers.
By the time Steve has finished with his announcement, practically everyone in the cafe has jumped out of their seats and rushed toward your cousin, cheering and jeering to get in line. You walk back behind the counter to put your apron away as Steve gestures the people funneling out of the restaurant toward the NBC Studios building across the street. You start stacking plates when you hear Steve’s voice behind you.
“Thanks for your help,” he says.
“Not a problem,” you respond, turning around to hug him. “Now, what’s this I hear about Elvis Presley?”
“Crazy, isn’t it? Bones Howe and I got a call from his producer, Jerry Schilling, about helping him reconnect with his previous persona, his famous image. We met him, talked for a while, and boom now we’re here.”
“That’s amazing!” Candy adds, walking up to lean against the counter. “You know your cousin here,” she gestures to you, “is like the biggest Elvis fan on the planet.”
“You don’t say. Actually…” his eyes light up and he points at you. “Y/N, you know, you’d be perfect for this. You’re exactly the kind of person we want to showcase on the special. Young, fresh, attractive, a real and authentic person. Do you think you could come with me now?”
“No. No, you know I can’t do that," you reply, shaking your head.
“Why not? There’s not a soul in this place, anymore.”
You look around and shake your head.
“There are still people here, and I’m still on the clock. I can’t just leave. I’ll get fired.”
“Ah, Y/N, lay off it. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, honey,” Candy says. “You should go!”
You shake your head and turn, trying to go back to work, but Steve speaks up again.
“I can get you a prime spot. Right in front of him. And your friend is welcome to come, too. C’mon, Y/N. Please.”
Memories flash through your mind. Fans screaming, police lights flashing, flashes of black fabric. You glance back into Steve’s bright blue eyes and feel anxiety rising in your chest. It gets harder to breathe and your fingers start to feel like they’re vibrating. You can’t do this. You shouldn’t do this. You’re not ready. But Steve’s pleading eyes are too strong for your will. You sigh deeply, running a hand over your face.
“Alright fine,” you respond. “Just give me a second to figure this out.”
Steve nods and you turn toward Candy with a deep breath. She wastes no time, jumping over the counter and grabbing onto your wrist to drag you into the kitchen where your boss, Frank, is cooking up a storm.
“What the hell’s going on out there?” Frank asks, wiping sweat from his forehead. “If you’re slacking, I can replace you quicker than a flash.”
“Well, that’s actually something we wanna talk to you about,” Candy says, and you frantically shake your head at her. “A Mr. Steve Binder from NBC Studios just stopped by and he’s looking for some people to join a live audience for a show they’re recording across the street. It’s an Elvis Presley show.”
“Is it one of those goddamn movies again?” Frank asks. “Cause if I have to hear one more word about those shitty films again, I’ll fire both of your asses.”
You shoot a pleading glance at Candy and mouth the word ‘no’, but she just rolls her eyes and shakes her head at Frank’s rude comment.
“No, it’s a musical performance, Frank. And don’t threaten us like that,” she responds, and you feel panic start to pump through your veins.
“What does any of this have to do with me, anyway?” Frank asks gruffly. “I don’t care what you do in your free time.”
“Y/N and I are leaving work early to go be a part of the audience,” Candy says, angrily. “That’s what it has to do with you.”
A clanging noise sounds as Frank drops his metal spatula onto the grill. You drop your head into your hands, clutching onto the roots of your hair and dreading what words will come next.
“What did you say?” Frank asks, turning around with an irate expression on his ugly, bulbous features. You know he isn’t really asking Candy to repeat herself but giving her a chance to change her answer. She keeps her mouth in a straight, flat line, refusing to budge.
“If you think you two little girls can just leave whenever the hell you want, you’re wrong,” he says, jabbing a fat swollen finger at you both. “You walk outta here right now, you’re fired. I don’t wanna see your damn face in here again, do you understand me?”
You falter, feeling all of the blood drain from your face. No, no, no. You can’t be fired. You need this job. But apparently, Candy doesn’t.
“So be it,” she says resolutely. “Come on, Y/N, let’s go be on live television.”
Before you have a chance to fall to your knees and beg for forgiveness from Frank, Candy’s fingers are latching onto your arm and dragging you away.
“Goddamn it! Fired!” Frank yells as you both dash out of the kitchen. “Do you hear me? FIRED! If I EVER see your faces in this restaurant again, I will-”
The rest of what he says is cut off when Candy slams the front door to Chadney’s, never to be opened again. Steve is waiting for you outside, and he perks up when you both approach him. You don’t hear a word of his greeting or Candy’s introduction. So many anxieties and worries are running through your brain. Your whole body feels cold and shaky, and all you can do is focus on remembering to breathe before you have a mental breakdown. The cold air-conditioned breeze shakes you back into consciousness when you walk into the NBC Studios building.
“Alright, so I’ll take you over to costuming and get you all set up, and then we’ll cart you out to the stage,” Steve explains as you dodge people running up and down the hallway with all kinds of props, costumes, and various objects.
“I thought you wanted ‘authentic people,’” you counter as Candy drags you along. You lean out of the way and nearly miss a man carting a huge stuffed moose down the narrow hallway.
“Oh, we do, but we want to make sure that everyone is styled as contemporarily as possible,” Steve says. “No offense to your uniforms.”
You quirk an eyebrow, not the least bit offended. You despise that faded blue dress with the hideous red Chadney’s logo over the left lapel. The creamy white tennis shoes are even more atrocious. Steve leads you both into the costuming room where there are dozens of people everywhere getting dressed in bright yellows, reds, greens, and blues.
“This is Barbara, and she’s gonna help style you today,” Steve says, gesturing to a middle-aged blonde woman with black squared glasses. “For Y/N, we want to put her in something extra stylish because she’s gonna stationed right in front of the camera.”
“Woah, woah, wait!” you say, holding your hands up. “What? No, Steve, I don’t want to be right in front of the camera. I would actually much prefer to get lost in the crowd as much as possible.”
“Don’t be silly. You’re everything we’re looking for as our front girl,” he says, dismissively waving his hand. “I think this one, Barb.”
You’re too busy having your third massive freak out in the last twenty minutes to pay attention to the fabric Steve pulls for you. Barbara shoves you behind a changing stall, pushing a hanger in your face. You reach for Candy only to see her being pulled away to a different stylist.
“Go ahead and get dressed, honey,” Barbara says hurriedly. “Then we’ll figure out what to do with your hair. Oh, before I forget, what shoe size are you?”
You just have enough time to shout your size at her before she’s running off among the chaos around you. You sheepishly duck behind the stall and yank your work uniform off. As quickly as you can, you pull the soft fabric of a dress over your skin. You glance down at the garment. It’s gorgeous. It has a deep red top with fluffy sleeves and little buttons. And the skirt portion is full of rust, orange, yellow, and white floral patterns. Surprisingly, the dress seems to fit very well, perhaps a bit small and tight in some places. By the time you’ve finished admiring it, Barbara is pulling you out to throw a pair of white gogo boots at you. You stuff your sweaty feet into them as Barbara pulls at your hair. It happens so fast that you can’t even comprehend how, but she somehow gets your hair into a beautifully relaxed beehive with a little orange headband that matches one of the colors on the skirt.
“You look great! Now get out there, we’re almost out of time,” she says, pushing you toward the door.
You really wish you could see yourself and at least know what you look like before you go out to be broadcast, apparently front and center, to the American public. But you get swept up by the other audience members rushing toward the stage. You aren’t really sure where you’re going, so you just mosey along with the big group and hope someone knows the right way. Eventually, you find yourself in a rough line, spanning out into the hallway. You can hear someone’s voice, it's familiar but you can’t place it, as he directs people around the tiny red stage in the middle of the room. You peer around the line to get a look at the man with the familiar voice and smile to yourself when you recognize his glasses and shaggy haircut.
Bones Howe, Steve’s business partner. You’d met here and there but would be surprised if he remembers you. You and Steve are cousins, yes, but not blood-related, so the times you see each other are rare. You step up after the older woman in front of you who reeks of cheap perfume.
“Y/N! Hi, nice to see you again. Wow, Steve was right, you look great. Just what we’re looking for,” he says with a big smile.
“Hi Bones,” you chuckle, feeling flattered at the fact that he remembers you.
“Alright so we’re gonna have you placed right here,” he says, pointing and pushing your back gently to guide you. “Now just a quick reminder to act natural but also remember that the camera will be on you the majority of the time. So just don’t pick your nose or do anything you wouldn’t want your mother to see. Thanks again for doing this!”
Before you can ask a question or say ‘you’re welcome,’ he’s gone. You shrug and take your place, once again directly by the stage. Just as you’re settling in, lazily glancing around to see if you can find Candy, someone slides in next to you.
“Hi! I’m Trixie!” a high-pitched voice says and a small hand reaches out beside you. You turn to see a beautiful woman, tall and curvy, with dark black hair and bright brown eyes. She’s wearing a turtleneck sweater, a plaid skirt, and matching knee thighs with heels. All in a vivid color of bright lavender that compliments her skin perfectly. You smile, reaching to shake her hand.
“Y/N,” you respond with a smile. “I love your outfit.”
“Thanks! I picked it out myself,” she says. “So, did you call in on the radio, too?”
“Uh…no, no I sort of…got picked, I guess,” you respond with furrowed eyebrows. Call in on the radio?
“Oh, very fancy! I called in as soon as I heard on the radio. Are you an Elvis fan? I’ve been to three of his concerts, own all his records, and seen all his films,” she says, leaning against the stage with a big smile.
“Yes, big fan!” you say, nodding. “I’ve also seen all his movies. And I’ve only been to one concert but it was…the best night of my life, honestly.”
Minus the riot that broke out after…
“Wow, that’s awesome! Which concert, I wonder if we could have been at the same one?”
“Russwood Park 1956,” you say with a deep breath.
“Wow, that must have been amazing! I remember reading about it in the papers,” Trixie says. “What was it like?”
Just as you’re about to answer, you hear that familiar voice again and glance up to see Bones kneeling down next to you.
“Ladies, if I could actually bother you both to sit up here on the stage, that would be incredible,” Bones says with a wink. “We want to make sure that it looks casual, like Elvis is just a regular guy hanging out with a bunch of kids. Alright, great!”
You look at Trixie and shrug with a nervous smile. You both hop up onto the stage, sitting sideways next to each other. You glance around you to see that a huge crowd has packed in behind you.
“Hi all and welcome to NBC Studios!”
Applause erupts all around you, and you gently clap your hands together.
“We’re so pleased to have all of you, and we’re super excited for the show. Just a few things before we get started to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.”
He points up toward a flashing red light that says APPLAUSE. Very subtle...
“Now when that sign lights up, what do you do?” Bones asks.
The crowd erupts into applause again, and you shake your head at the sheer absurdity of it all. Bones continues to explain how things are going to work.
“And lastly, ladies and gentleman, this is television not radio, so when that goes on and you clap, let's see it on your faces.”
The crowd claps again, and you glance around to admire the variety of expressions on the faces of the audience members. Some are definitely more cut out for this acting natural thing than others.
“Now Elvis is performing tonight just for you so keep that in mind. Let that inspire you,” Bones says. “And without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here’s Elvis Presley.
And there he is, indeed. Ironically in black, again, just like the last time you saw him. He takes the stage with a smile, and you drink him in. He looks incredible, tan and fit and happy, probably better than he had when you’d seen him last. But he seems nervous, a feeling which you hadn’t noticed the last time you’d seen him. He shakes himself out and glances around for a moment, nodding, before grabbing his guitar. You feel Trixie latch onto your hand and squeeze excitedly. You shoot her a smile as he begins to sing.
Heartbreak Hotel, one of your favorites. You feel a smile spreading across your face as his hips start to move back and forth with the beat of the song. His voice is incredible, even better than it had been when he was young. Back then, it was smoother, higher pitched. Now, it’s deep, rich, and raspy. A man’s voice. You bring a hand up to cover your mouth as he leans back, holding the microphone stand tightly. His eyes travel backward as a smirk crawls onto his face. And for a quick second, your heart stops and smile drops.
Had he seen you? No, it’s impossible. You’re kidding yourself and hoping for something that won’t happen. Something unbelievable.
So you think, until he tilts his head down and stares right at you. There’s no mistaking it this time. His eyes are trained on you for a few seconds until he removes the guitar and hands it off to a bandmate. He drops to his knees right in front of you and pushes his crotch up into your face. A sense of deja vu hits you like a brick. You suck in a sharp breath and throw a hand onto your face in embarrassment as you catch him wink at you. When he gets up to go back to center stage, you feel your chest release a shaky breath.
Despite everything in your body telling you this isn’t real, here you are again. Somehow almost in the exact same spot you had been during the performance in 1956 in Memphis. Right by the stage, right where you can see him. And he can see you. Your lips part, and you grip hard onto the fabric of the orange dress, feeling the blood once again drain from your face. You’d never thought you’d ever see him again. You couldn’t believe how lucky you’d been to see him the first time around at all. It’s 12 years ago now. You were only 16 then, now you were almost 30. Everything had changed that day. Your expectations for life, your standards for men, your understanding of sex. Everything.
You were just a face in the crowd, nothing special. Sure, you’d fought your way up to the front, but you were so small then. It was just easier for you to get there and weave through the crowd. You were just watching him in that black suit as he threw himself around onstage. You’d screamed with the other fans, gripped at the stage, overreacted like the teenage girl you were. There was nothing special about you. You were utterly ordinary. Until he’d knelt down by you, right in front of you, and reached out with his beautiful slender fingers, curled those fingers around your chin…
You absentmindedly reach up to touch the skin on your jaw, remembering the feeling of his strong grasp on the bones underneath the skin.
How it felt to have him touch you. You, out of everyone else in the crowd. He’d leaned so close to you, so close that you could see the beads of sweat on his skin, rolling down his dark black hair. He’d sang right to you. Right in your face as his eyes searched yours and he gripped onto your jaw. You’ll never forget the feeling of emptiness when he’d left your space. When he’d retreated from you. The need, the desire you felt to get him back. To have him next to you again. To have him that close to you. You would never forget that day in Russwood Park. Never.
You smile as you watch him, knowing that you’ll never forget this moment in time either. He moves around similarly to how he used to but with even more confidence now. He doesn’t have the body of a child anymore, but a man’s frame. Tall and thick. Your eyes gravitate toward his ass, and your mouth falls open as you watch it move. The full leather suit he wears hugs him in all the right places, especially there. You bite your lip at the way the fabric moves against him and shines in the light. A few people around you start to sing along, so you join in, clapping to the time. You drop your face into your hands, feeling heat creep into your cheeks as he wiggles around on stage again. You clap with a huge smile on your face as he speaks into the mic.
“It’s been a long time, baby. A long time,” he says.
After he performs, the crew brings a stool up onto the stage and he sits to chat about his career and where he’s at in his life right now.
“But that’s one thing about this tv special that I’m doing,” he’s saying, “They’re gonna let me do what I wanna do. Sing the music that I want. The music that I love. The music that makes me happy.”
You catch him glancing up at something, and your eyes follow his gaze to rest on a beautiful woman sitting in the upper sections. His wife, Priscilla. You recognize her from the magazine covers you’ve seen of them together. You’d been crushed when they’d gotten married. Of course you’re happy for them both and never at all expected that he would fall in love with you or anything like that. You knew it was implausible, but still, you had hope. Hope that was all but crushed when Mrs. Presley became a reality.
You shake off the slight disappointment that you feel trying to settle into your chest and enjoy the rest of the show. Even though Elvis’ back is toward you for the remainder of the taping, you still love hearing him talk about himself and his music. You’re having such a great time that what ends up taking three hours feels like three minutes. And you can forget, for that time, about the fact that you no longer have a stable income. You crane your neck as Elvis walks off the stage, smiling and waving to the crowd. You want to see as much of him as humanly possible. It could be the last time.
You watch as he stops momentarily to talk to a tall man with shaggy blondish hair. You turn to Trixie, who is gushing about the performance but glance back at Elvis out of the corner of your eye to see him gesturing toward your area of the stage. For a moment, your heart skips a beat but you shake yur head. No, he couldn’t possibly have singled you out again. That would make you too lucky. Way too lucky.
After the show, you’re ushered back into the costuming area and stripped of your clothes. You sigh and shrug back on your old uniform with all the ketchup and coffee stains. As soon as the fabric hits your skin, it’s a harsh reminder that you need to find a job. Like yesterday. You emerge from the changing station and gently place the dress on a table with other random pieces of clothing, but not before fishing out a small strip of worn paper. Trixie had written her name, address, and phone number on it. She’d said she’s looking for a roommate and, apparently, really likes you enough to consider you. Maybe it’s time for a move, after all.
“Thanks for your help, Barbara,” you say. She glances up at you with her magnified eyes and smiles warmly. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to know where I can find Mr. Binder, would you? I have something I wanted to ask him about.”
“Upstairs, to the right in the recording studio,” she responds. “If you get lost just ask someone and tell them Barb sent you.”
You thank her again and place the white gogo boots on the floor next to the table. But as you turn to leave, Barbara’s voice stops you.
“Take them,” she says softly, gesturing to the boots and the dress. “They were made for you.”
You normally wouldn’t indulge such an offer, but now that you’re jobless, you figure some free stuff can’t hurt. You smile and reach down to grab the outfit, tucking it under your arm as you wind your way around the crowds and pockets of people. When you get upstairs, you take a moment to glance around at the posters on the wall. Your eyebrows raise as you see one for Star Trek. Very cool. Your eyes swing to the right and you see what looks like, to your untrained eyes, a recording studio. You debate knocking but aren’t sure if it’ll interfere with any of the recording process, so you just quietly step in and press your back to the wall.
“Cue the gospel number now,” Steve says quickly, and you lean away from the door as a lumbering fat man waddles in.
“No,” the fat man mumbles, “None of this will be in the special.”
He gestures toward two businessmen sitting across the doorway. You hadn’t even noticed them when you’d walked in, but they look displeased in their stiff black suits.
“Can you make a note that that should be in the special,” Steve says, and you chuckle to yourself. “Now let’s segue straight into the whorehouse dancers.”
Your mouth drops open and you throw a hand over your mouth. Steve continues to bring more crazy and wild aspects into the special, and you have to bite your lip to keep from laughing audibly. The way Elvis’ manager frantically looks from screen to screen wracks your body with silent hisses.
Suddenly, the cast and crew start running frantically and screaming. Your laughing stops abruptly and your attention is pulled to a crew member as they dash into the room.
“Robert Kennedy’s been shot!!”

Lego Hunny Time!
I haven't drawn Hunny is a while, and since I am obviously in love with the Lego Monkie Kid show, I decided to draw her as a Lego Lady ^^
Hunny's original lore is that she is half slime monster and half succubus. For this fandom, she's just a yellow succubus who is retired. No more seducing people for their candy lol Instead, she is holding back her powers to make it easier to settle down with someone. She wears a special necklace to seal her powers away, but can take it off if she needs to defend herself.
I didn't want to be insensitive to the Chinese culture by using a sealing magic symbol wrong, so I went with an infinity knot since I have a few rings with that in real life ^^
Sorry for the rant, I hope ya'll like her! ^^

Elbow Deep: Part 1
Tumblr media
So this is my first time ever writing fanfiction!! I’m a little bit nervous because in this fandom, whew chillay.....y’all are some muthafuckin’ WRITERS, hunny. “Talent all up & thru this bitch.” lmao I hope mine is decent enough for y’all tho.
But anyways, here goes...something lol.
Pairing: Erik “Killmonger” Stevens x Black, Dark-Skin, Plus Size OC. (Always💛)
Summary: Erik begrudgingly attends a benefit gala. He prepares himself for a wack ass night, only to be met with a quite, scrumptious surprise. 😉
Word Count: Somewhere around 1400, 1500.
Warnings: Cussing. Use of the N-word. Dragging white people. T’Challa on his bullshit lol. But mostly fluffy and cute.
A/N: In my mind, I want this to be a series but I’m not sure how to make it work yet. If not, than I guess a cute little one-shot? Idk, If y’all like it enough, I’ll try for a part 2 at very least. Also, I wrote this on my phone at like 3 AM so please excuse any mistakes or typos. 😝
“Dedicated to my new found love for hot wings.”
——
“Welcome ALL to Wakanda Outreach Center’s Annual Benefit Gala”
Erik snorted as he read the overzealous banner. He hated these kind of events. The only reason he even bothered to show up was because he lost a bet to his cousin. Nigga prolly cheated, he thought to himself.
Erik N’Jadaka Udaku-Stevens wasn’t one to be presurred into obligation. So when King T’Challa tried to convince him to support the Wakanda Outreach Center at their annual gala, Erik literally laughed in his face.
“Hell nah, nigga. I don’t go to these things for a reason. My energy is better used towards actually doing work for the community. Not rubbin’ elbows with a bunch of uppity negroes and cracka ass crackers.” Erik snapped, twisting his lips and being extra as hell.
Princess Shuri giggled. She (not-so) secretly loved when her cousin went off on one of his colonizer-dragging rants.
“N’Jadaka, we talked about calling them that.” T’Challa shot Shuri a stern look while crossing his hands behind his back. “And, it IS for the good of the community. Engagement with everyone, including other races, is necessary to keep things civil. How would it look if our own Director didn’t show up to support?”
“It’ll look like exactly what it is,” Erik said, crossing his arms across his chest. “A bourgie ass event with bourgie ass people, throwing around bourgie ass rhetoric about shit they don’t know a damn thing about. I’m good, love...”
“...enjoy!” Shuri blurted out in her Keke Palmer voice, cackling with Erik at T’Challa’s frustration.
T’Challa pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. He was completely over Erik and his shenanigans. Quickly, he perked his head up and rolled his shoulders back. He had the perfect Plan B. “How about we make this a wager, hmm? If I win, you attend the gala. If you win, I won’t bring it up again,” He teased with a sly smirk, knowing his competitive cousin all too well.
Erik paused.
Shuri turned on her Kimoyo beads.
“Bet. You won’t be smiling when I beat that ass, tho.”
“Oh it is on, cousin.”
“Say less, cousin. Throw them hands up.”
“On scissors.”
“No nigga. It’s on shoot. Tryna best me when you don’t even know how to play? Tuh! Have fun at that punk ass gala, boi!”
And there he was. In a stuffy ass suit watching his corny ass cousin fake laugh with rich white folks for donor money that they didn’t even need.
“Fuck rock, paper, scissors,” Erik murmured to himself, shifting uncomfortably against the wall.
T’Challa peaked over at Erik, watching him sneer at another group of white folks who almost ran into him.
“Excuse you. Damn,” Erik nostrils flared. “I know y’all can see my big ass standing here.” T’Challa appeared, placing his hand on Erik’s shoulder to stop him before he lit into they asses. “Relax, N’Jadaka. This is supposed to be a fun night.”
“Fun, my ass,” Erik growled lowly. “This shit is wack. Even the food is trash. I mean, what the fuck is liver pâté on cucumber toast? All the Black people you know and you couldn’t get some decent food? No chicken? Shit, some Jollof rice would suffice,” He bellowed, rubbing his grumbling stomach.
“Nakia was in charge of the food. She likes to...experiment,” T’Challa chuckled. “One time she tried to get our chef to make these Chinese style pork buns. Which was comical because his only Asian specialities are Japanese cuisine and—.”
“Yeah, I don’t care,” Erik huffed dryly. “I’mma go see if they got some real food around here. I’m starving.” Erik rolled his eyes as he stomped away, leaving T’Challa standing there with the oop face.
“He on my last nerve, I swear,” Erik spat to himself.
He shuffled past a crowd of people mingling in the gala hall, before bursting through the kitchen door. “Hey, y’all got anything else back here? Shit, at this point I’ll settle for a grilled cheese sandw...” Erik stopped mid-sentence, completely taken back by the sight before him.
A woman seated in a tall stool at one of the islands was expertly downing a plate of hot wings, not getting a speck on her crisp white, off-the-shoulder gown. Erik watched her do a little happy dance as she cleaned every bit of meat and gristle off the bone. She popped a mocha colored finger in her mouth, sucking off left over sauce as she turned towards the direction of the eyes she felt gazing into her side.
“Oh, my bad,” Erik said, realizing he was staring at her a little too hard. “I was just looking for something to eat. But I see you beat me to it.” He smirked, while rubbing his hand nervously over his neatly braided dreads.
The woman let out a short laugh. “Did you see what they’re serving out there? Might as well put up a sign that says. ‘Don’t eat if you have tastebuds.’ You would think with Black people in charge, at least the food would be good.”
Erik smiled, letting his dimples peak out for the first time all night, “I’m saying, tho.”
“Here,” She exclaimed as she pulled up a stool next to her. “They’ll make just about anything you ask for. But I suggest the wings. They’re bomb.
“Mhmm,” Erik said as he took the seat & looked her over. He motioned towards the chef. “I’ll have what she’s got.”
As the chef prepared his food, Erik surprisingly found himself in deep conversation with the eccentric woman. Mostly about random things like where to get the best wings in Oakland & why white folks don’t season their food. Still, he was memorized by how laid back and real she seemed to be. Something he didn’t expect to find at a uptight, bourgie ass gala.
“Daamnn. You cleaned those bones like the chicken’s going somewhere,” she teased.
“Says the woman elbow deep in buffalo sauce,” Erik shot back jokingly, eying her as he finished off his last wing.
“Pffhtt...whatever! You wouldn’t even have known to get the wings if I wasn’t here. You should be thanking me,” She huffed, folding her arms across her chest.
Erik laughed and rolled his eyes, dramatically sucking the chicken bone in his hand while leaning in her direction.
She swatted at him playfully before checking the clock on the wall.” Oh shit, I gotta get back out there.”
She wiped her hands, before standing to smooth her gown. “Do me a favor and check my dress? Last thing I want is to be thinking I’m cute but I’m actually covered in chicken stains,” She said with a chuckle, slowly turning in front of Erik.
“Sure.” Erik said lowly before clearing his throat. He took in her frame, admiring her glowing dark skin and the way the gown hugged her fluffy tummy.
“You good.” He said, forcing his eyes to hers before they got lost in between her thighs.
She kissed her teeth and shot him a bright smile, “Thanks. Well, this was fun. Um...?”
“Oh, uh..Erik,” he replied, smiling back. “And yea it was...fun. Um...?”
She giggled. “Janessa.”
And with that, she sashayed out the double kitchen doors and into the crowded gala hall.
Erik sat back with one arm slinged over the back of his chair, juggling a toothpick in his teeth as he rubbed his now satisfied belly.
He would definitely see her again.

Little Miss CEO - Part 6
Part 7
The journey was nice, he eventually got over it, we put on some music, turns out Billy isn’t much of a singer, or so he says until a song he likes comes on and he starts murmuring along to it compared to me and my singing.
My sister’s house was on a row full of beautiful perfect white picket fenced houses. I had only been here a few times, a few days when she was moving in a few months ago, then a little while after to again help with the decorating with my brothers, that ended in a pizza party for the little kids, and a good old gossip session between Kai, myself and Brie.
“Damn, this neighbourhood looks like something taken out of a TV show.”
“It’s nice isn’t it” I agreed with him,
We got out the car and I grabbed his hand in mine, he looked down at me and smiled before I walked up to knock on her door.
A few seconds later my little niece came and opened the door,
“Hey little lady,” I said picking her up to hug her,
She just giggled, “I knew it was you. Momma told me you were coming and I’ve been soo excited” she said exaggerating the ‘soo’
“Yeah well, your momma told me that you’ve been sooo excited for this party because you get to see me”
She nodded her head before looking at Billy and looked at me before coming close to my head, “Who’s he?” She whispered into my ear, although it sounded nothing like a whisper.
“This is my... friend Billy. You need to be nice to him because he’s my absolute best friend” This kid hopefully doesn’t know what boyfriend and girlfriends are because she’s 4. They should be clueless so a best friend will be enough
She jumped down from me and looked at him with narrowed eyes, “You’re not Auntie Y/N’s best friend. I am!”
He looked at me before looking at her and I just smiled, “Mia, he’s a different type of best friend. Don’t worry he’s not taking your place”
She stopped and looked at me and then him, “So like... a best boyfriend?”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that, “Yes hunny exactly like that”
She gasped and covered her mouth with her hand and started to giggle, “JERMeyyyy” She yelled, “Auntie Y/N has a boyfriend” She screamed running through the house,
My eyes widened and I looked at him before I followed her with Billy beside me.
“So the younger niece?” He asked, “Not going to lie, the way she looked at me has me a little scared, maybe because she’s your family.”
I laughed, “She’s a little diva. Her brother the same, he’ll try to interrogate you”
I walked through to the kitchen and saw that the food was all nearly all prepped, “Mia, what have I said about opening the door” Brie yelled walking through the house and stopped when she saw me, “Oh my gosh” She then squealed once she saw me running to hug me, I hugged back “I’ve missed you, and you keep me sane and thank you for coming here because I can’t control the kids whilst they’re hopped up on sugar because it’s difficult keeping the food away from them on days like today and I missed you” She rambled out,
I laughed and hugged her back, “Don’t worry, I can look after the kids while you get everything settled. How are you?” She pulled away and huffed,
“I’m stressed because I was on call last night. So I got in at 3am, and Mia woke up at 7am, and I was like ok, cool, sat her in front of the TV, don’t judge my parenting, but started prepping all the food that the caterers dropped off, Dave made sure the house was tidy and everything, I’m not having any snoopy bitches going through this house so I’m giving you the master key, every door aside from the downstairs bathroom will be locked and I regret being such a nice person and inviting so many people, but I just... that’s me you get me?”
“Yeah, I need to teach you how to say no to people or to stop making sure everyone else is happy”
She groaned, “I know it’ll be nice later, I know it will but the prepping beforehand is long, also I’m so sorry, hi, I’m Brie, her little sister, who is also quite embarrassed right now, I promise you that this isn’t usually this bad, I just... if I knew she was bringing someone” She said turning to me before going back to him, “I would’ve told her to come later so you wouldn’t have to wait around for us and see how bad her family really is” She said greeting Billy,
“Hi” he said shaking her hand a charming smile on his face, “Don’t worry about it, you’ve got a lot going on. And I’m Billy by the way, Y/N’s plus one, and sorry to intrude” He said glancing at me,
“Uh huh, you’re not intruding anything, if you treat my sister right, you’re welcome anytime, andd” She said looking between us two, “Is that why Mia was running around singing that you’ve got a boyfriend?” She asked me and I felt my cheeks going a little red.
“Yeah, you heard her right” I said to my sister,
“Do Kai and Tommy know?” She asked me with a smirk, “You remember the grilling they gave Dave right? Ohhh Billy, hate to break it to you but you’ve got a long day ahead of you”
“They’re not saying anything to him. You’re their little sister, it’s different, I basically raised those boys so they can’t say shit” I said to her,
She rose her eyebrows before looking at Billy, “Good luck. You’ll need it. I mean a heads up, Kai is easier to get comfortable with but he’s still watching you, then with Tommy as soon as you get past the initial grilling he’ll be great”
“Great, just when I thought the nerves had gone” He mumbled,
“Whos this?” Someone asked from behind me and Billy, we both turned and Dave was there my sisters husband, he’s a nice guy, pretty big and intimidating, but nice.
“Hey Dave.” I said hugging him, “This is Billy, the guy I’m seeing, and Billy the is Dave, my sister’s husband” I explained,
“Nice to meet you” Billy said putting out his hand, Dave took it and shook it, “Nice to meet you, how long you two been together for?” He asked,
“It’s still early days” I explained to Dave, “But we’ve known each other for a few months now”
“Ah yeah? How did you meet? Don’t tell me he’s one of your clients” He said looking a little concerned,
“No, so you know Karen?” I asked and they both nodded, “Well, her partner Frank, this is best friend” I explained,
“Ohh, damn, ok cool. So what do you do?” Dave asked Billy,
“I own a company called Anvil” Billy explained to Dave,
“I’ve heard of that” Dave muttered looking like he was thinking, I looked at Brie and she looked back at me a small smirk on her face, she obviously knew who he was, this woman had gone into stalker mode to find out who he was, she probably knew all about him, his past, his business, and any secrets she could through the world wide web, and maybe she even broke a few rules at the hospital to get his records up. She’s dumb like that but smart enough to cover he tracks. And I’m pretty sure Tommy has also done the same since I last spoke to him, but more like getting records that she couldnt. Between Brie, Tommy and Kai, they all probably managed to get as much of his life story as they could.
“Is it Billy Russo?” Dave asked him and Billy nodded, “Damn you were on the news a while ago weren’t you?” He asked,
“Yeah, a bit of a bad stage in my life” Billy explained looking slightly uncomfortable,
“But you were a marine right?” Dave then went on to ask before clapping his shoulder, “Pretty sure this guy won’t have Kai hating him too long then”
Billy looked at me, “He’s the one that didn’t call you at dinner right?”
I shook my head, “That was Tommy, also speaking of them, when are they getting here?”
“They should be here” Brianna told me, “Also for real, although they’re protective over her, you have nothing to worry about as long as you treat her right ok”
“Don’t worry, I’m not a scumbag, I’ll treat her like a queen” he said kissing the side of my head,
My heart melted a little bit, I haven’t been in a relationship in so long, any dates I have are always set up, and although this initially was it didn’t work out. Business then pushed us closer together.
A few seconds later there was some screaming and two little kids running into the kitchen, “MOOOMMMM, tell MIIIAAA, ew are you Auntie Y/Ns boyfriend, I thought she was lying” Jeremiah said stopping in the kitchen and looking at Billy.
My jaw dropped at him and Billy looked a little shocked, “Jeremiah, don’t be so disrespectful, and apologise”
“Noooo” He whined, “I’m going to go tell Tommy and Kai. They’ll get rid of him” Jeremiah said narrowing his eyes at Billy,
“Alright kid, that’s enough,” I said to Jeremiah, “Be nice to Billy because he’s been nice to me ok. And I’m sure Tommy and Kai won’t need to scare him off because you all acting the way you are right now is enough to do that.”
Jeremiah huffed out a sigh, he looked at his dad who also nodded before he went to stand in front of Bill an put his hand out to shake it, “I need to be nice to you and I will. So I’m Jeremiah, and you need to treat Auntie Y/N nicely because she hasn’t had a boyfriend before so you know.... she probably hates boys so be careful”
Nothing of what he just said made sense but Billy just laughed and shook Jeremiah's hand, “Hello Jeremiah, I’m Billy, and I promise I’ll be good”
Jeremiah nodded and smiled, “Mom, I was going to say that Mia is being annoying. She won’t get out of my room”
“Yes I did. I’m right here” Mia said from beside her dad who picked up her, she had a proud smirk on her face and everything about her screamed that she was daddies little girl.
Jer just glared at her before looking at his mom, “Tell her to stop”
“Baby she will, you go get ready, or do you need help?”
“I don’t need help” he grumbled whilst walking off,
After he walked of Brie shook her head and I laughed a little before looking at Billy, “I would apologise for him, but I found it too cute, although he did violate me in the process”
Billy laughed a little, “Yeah, I don’t actually think I’ve asked when you last had a boyfriend” Billy said smirking slightly,
“No, I think we both know my ‘boyfriend’ has been my work”
“Don’t even start on that” Brie said while looking at Billy, “I’m assuming she knows how much she works. I was shocked when she said she would have time to come, and I’m honestly even more shocked that she’s bought someone with her”
“Yeah, I thought I was bad, but then I’m the one bringing her lunch every other day when she’s too caught up with clients, and well Karen and Frank persuaded her” he smirked at me.
“Awhh” Brie said covering her heart with her hand, “You’re like a cute young couple. And I miss that” She whined,
I looked at him and he looked at me, “We’re a cute couple I’ll say that”
He just winked at me, “Forgetting the young part there”
“Well, don’t want to be lying now do I?” I asked, “I mean your beard puts on a few years” I said with a smirk,
“Thought you were into beards?” Brie asked whilst organising her food,
Billy just laughed, “Now, there is something I forgot, Karen or Frank mentioned it when we first met”
I just narrowed my eyes at him but still had a smile on my face.
I then started to help Brie, Dave went to sort the kids out, and Billy was also helping here and there where he could. I was happy that he clicked with Brie, mainly because she was teasing him and he took it lightly, and he threw a few jokes around himself.
Not long later after she had everything sorted and organised with the food, Billy helped take everything outside, the kids were settled and everything looked good. As soon as it turned 2pm, the music was on, and people started walking through to the garden. Brianna had put up signs that led everyone around towards the back so no one nosy would walk through her house and ended up taking a detour. Although it was a house warming party she knew that it wasn’t. It was low-key a cookout, I should’ve gotten Karen and Frank to both join us, next time I will.

A Sunday Drive
Lloyd and Colette go out for ice cream! How this turns into a car race is anyone's guess.
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia Characters: Lloyd Irving, Colette Brunel, Zelos Wilder, Sheena Fujibayashi Rating: G Mirror Links: AO3 Notes: Modern AU! Also this is several years old but I still think it's a bit funny??? Maybe?? No guarantees.
---
“Your dad finally got you a car?” Lloyd looked at the hatchback parked in the driveway. The back bumper was a little scuffed, showing its clearly used history, but Colette was beaming at it like she had gotten a shiny convertible for her birthday.
“Yeah! Now we can go where we want!” She already had the keys in her hand, clicking the unlock function.
Lloyd suddenly got the best idea in the world. “Let’s go to Dairy Queen!” He practically jumped to the passenger side. “Right now!”
“Okay!” She gently opened her car door, sliding inside. “We can go everyday now if we want!”
“Seriously?!” This was almost too much for Lloyd to handle. He nearly put the keys into the ignition himself. “Come on, let’s go!”
Colette didn’t rush through it still, despite Lloyd’s insistence. She adjusted her seat, her rearview mirrors, and looked carefully behind her as she backed out into the street. Lloyd let her handle all the driving activities, while he just messed with the radio and started thinking out loud about what toppings he was going to get for his chocolate caramel sundae.
“I think lots of sprinkles would be good,” Colette added. She kept her eyes on the road, keeping well within the speed limit, and a safe distance from other cars. “I’m really glad I got my license. I thought I’d never be able to!”
“Hey, I saw you. You practically got a perfect score on that test. Raine would have to be crazy to not pass you.”
She smiled, giving him a quick glance before turning back to the road. “I hope you get your license soon, too.”
“Ehh, we’ll see about that,” Lloyd waved it off. He hadn’t even had the chance to do the road test. Because he’d failed the written test portion twice so far. He didn’t think he’d do good on the road test even if he did pass the written exam. Whenever Dirk gave him driving lessons, his father would always start yelling if he made the slightest error, making the thought of him getting behind the wheel fill his head with anxiety.
He lowered his own seat back, crossing his arms behind his head as he relaxed. “I think it’s just good that one of us can drive. Hey, maybe we can go to the beach later?”
“Yeah, that sounds fun!” Colette agreed. “I can’t wait to go.”
This was a pretty sweet deal that Lloyd had. Colette gently hummed as she drove down the streets, the roads empty for the most part. She didn’t go too fast or too slow, and Lloyd was able to just daydream as the shops passed them by. He thought he could get used to this. Colette didn’t seem to mind driving him around.
Not even a minute later though, both heard the most obnoxious music playing from behind them. Colette blinked, looking at the side mirror to see who was there, and Lloyd instantly sat up, rolling away the kinks in his neck. A car engine revved noisily, quickly catching up to them.
Lloyd recognized the voice singing along to the music and groaned.
“If you wanna be my lover! You gotta get with my friends!”
“Is… is that Zelos?” Colette asked innocently. They’d seen the guy at school, always dressed in really well-made jackets, arms draped around a different girl’s shoulders each time they saw him.
“Yeah.” Lloyd’s ears were already hurting. “Maybe we should roll up the windows.”
Instantly, an expensive-looking sports car with the sunroof pulled down, moved near them. It was a garish red, (nice color, though) the sunlight reflecting off its polished surface to blind the eyes. Zelos drove a little erratically, laughing all the while as someone in the passenger seat was trying to yell over the ungodly volume of the car’s music.
“Oh!” Colette pointed to the car. “It’s Sheena.”
Lloyd was confused. “Why would she drive with him?”
That wasn’t a question he would get answered anytime soon, especially with how furious the girl was. Her voice traveled across the roads, succeeding in just barely being heard. “The hell, Zelos! Can you drive a little slower for once?”
“Shush! Here comes the best part! Make it….something something…Friendship never ends!”
Zelos’ long red hair billowed out behind him as he sped up his car, sunglasses catching the glare of the sun. Sheena was raving by this point. “Goddamn it! At least turn the music down!”
Lloyd wasn’t sure how someone like Zelos got his license, but then he supposed anything is possible when you were rich.
“Do you think he’d want to go get ice cream with us?” Colette asked him politely.
With Colette, Lloyd was always honest. “I don’t know if I really wanna deal with him today.”
Just as Colette was about to make a right turn, she immediately had to brake. Lloyd caught himself on the dashboard from the movement, his seatbelt still pinning him in place. He looked up just in time to see that same red car drive in from of them in their lane and make that same right turn. Colette’s car stayed still in the road, the engine still gently humming.
“Geez! That stupid jerk didn’t even signal.” Lloyd settled back, irritated. “We need to try to not drive when he’s out.”
What was weird though was that he heard no remark at all from Colette. He turned to his left. “Hey, Colette? You okay? Did you hurt yourself?”
He couldn’t see her eyes well enough. She was still staring straight ahead at the road, her hands gripped on the steering wheel in their correct positions. For a moment, Lloyd was sure she was going to cry because of what happened.
Before he could reach out a hand to comfort her, she stepped on the gas violently, sending their car screeching on the pavement as sped towards Zelos.
“C-Colette! Wait, what are you-?”
Zelos and Sheena were at a stop light with no other cars around. The music had been turned way down by this point, possibly due to Sheena’s interference. She was still yelling at the rich kid that she had the misfortune to bum a ride from.
“This is seriously the last time I’m ever driving with you! The fuck is wrong with you?”
“Hey, easy on the language! That can’t be good for your complexion or- oh, hey there, angel!” Zelos waved at Colette as she stopped next to him, braking harshly. “What’s up?”
“Zelos.” Colette said in a calm tone, unsmiling. “You cut me off.”
The guy blinked stupidly. “Huh? Oh, well my hunny here is getting real hungry though for some Dairy Queen, so I had to rush. You know her and her sweet tooth.”
“Hunny?!” Sheena yelled. “Hunny, my ass!”
“Zelos,” Colette called out again. Her voice took on a different tone, scaring Lloyd a little. “What you did wasn’t very nice!”
“Hey, I’ll make it up to you later. How about a date next Friday?” Zelos grinned, angling his shades down to give a sly wink.
At that point, Lloyd noticed Colette reach for the car's lever, putting it at a different spot. Wait, this was a stick shift?! How had he not noticed that before?
“Uh, Colette-”
“Ohhh, I get it!” Zelos was laughing again, revving up his car’s engines in the most annoying way possible. “Little angel wants to race, huh?”
Lloyd’s mind went numb for a second. “Wait, WHAT?!”
“Come on, Colette. Bet you can’t beat me there!” And once the red light was gone, Zelos instantly sped away, screeching past the intersection with an equally screeching Sheena.
Colette followed him right after.
Lloyd was sure he was going to have a heart attack any second now.
“Colette!” He tried to reason, too afraid to even sit forward. They were in a more recreational part of town for now, but soon they would get to the shopping district, where more cars and people were around. “Slow down!”
She didn’t seem to hear him. In fact, she pressed down on the accelerator more, her speed getting dangerously close to the triple digits. Her car was right next to Zelos, who was laughing all the way as they sped down to the corner where Dairy Queen was. Lloyd risked a quick glance out Colette’s side of the window, and could see that Sheena wasn’t enjoying this much either.
They shot past another intersection and were now officially in ‘more population’ territory. How were there no cops around?!
“Gonna win!” Zelos’ voice traveled to them as he moved ahead, the Doppler effect making his voice sound more distorted than usual.
Colette, in response, accelerated harder. She suddenly shot past Zelos, squeezed her car into the one lane parking lot and instantly braked when she reached a parking spot.
Lloyd felt like he was gonna hurl.
Immediately, he got out of the car, stumbling as he did so and went down on his knees, heaving out air. He heard Zelos’ car pull up next to him, and then a really hard smacking sound, followed by the guy’s cries of pain.
“Ow! Sheena, stop that!”
“You idiot! You could’ve gotten me killed!” Lloyd looked up barely, just able to see Sheena swing her heavy sports bag at Zelos’ back, chasing him out of his car and onto the sidewalk.
“Gah! Stop! You’re definitely not getting laid after this.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Followed by another whack.
After that, Lloyd decided to look back at the sidewalk underneath his hands, taking deep, choking breaths. They had gone so fast, he was sure he saw his life flash before his eyes. There… there had been so many detentions…
“Lloyd?” A quiet, apologetic voice was above him. He felt a hand press against his back, moving around in small circles. He turned to the side to find Colette there, smiling in embarrassment. “Do you… still want some ice cream?”
For his answer, Lloyd turned away and threw up his breakfast on the sidewalk.

Character Spotlight 1, P1
DAMIAN BEELZY
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER BECAUSE YES,
I do not own zoophobia. Zoophobia would belong to the lovely Vivian Medrano (I believe that's how her last name is spelt? Meh, I'll check later), otherwise known as Vivziepop
Also, while yes, this is a series where I am going to be critical of the source material, this is NOT a critique of vivziepop herself, as zoophobia is...2, 3 years old? It'd be unfair to judge her and her writing skills based on something she did a while ago.
I'm not doing this because I hate the source material either. On the contrary, I love Zoophobia. The reason I'm doing this is because I believe that if we find flaws in media we enjoy, we could all learn something valuable from it, and apply it to our own work.
If you disagree with something stated here, that's alright. Feel free to tell me what you think and ask questions. I'm not telling you what to think. I simply hope you enjoy.
I apologize for wasting your time.

-----------------------'---------------
......So, I'm back.
I've already talked about Dame before in my favorite zp characters list. I've already stated why I like him. For anyone who might not have seen that list, let me give you a spicy recap. I found Dame to be one of the more entertaining characters throughout the comic and he was one of the better written characters during the 5-ish chapters we got from this series. I've already stated what I like about him, so let's just get into some things I don't like.
Oh come on, let's be honest. We all know why we're here. We all can see how much attention my least favorite character list got compared to my favorite list (even if admittedly some of that attention was me thanking people, which btw is something I should really do more often ). You're all here because you want me to tear a hole in this series. It's the same reason most people watch car racing. We don't wanna see who wins. We wanna see some epic car crashes.
Still, I want to start with critiques towards this character I don't agree with.
-----------------------------------
1. Damian is a bad main character because he only has negative character traits
A character having only bad character traits does not in itself mean a character is bad. If that character is poorly written, then it's a bad character. Also, I'd advise you read chapters 3 and 5 where Dame is shown to have some good traits about him. (Ex. Chapter 5 where he expresses concern for Addi )
2. Damian's design is too bland compared to other characters
While I agree with this to some extent, something I want to say here is that Dame is not unique in this regard. You could apply this to Spam, Vanex, Jackie, and Kayla as well. This is more aimed at those who single Damian out as the only one with this problem.
3. Damian is a bad villain
Damian is not meant to be the antagonist. He has been confirmed to be apart of the main cast, and you'll notice that in all of Vivz's villain line ups, he is not present. At most, he may a rival or adversary to either zill or Jack.
4. He is unoriginal as a character.
.....and any other characters in media today are? It's very rare in this day and age to come across anything 100 % original. It's even been proposed that there are no longer any original ideas left. Besides, a character being bad does not mean the character itself is bad. At most, it's a reflection on the writers laziness.
5. He's too edgy.
Ah yes, a commonly used complaint you'll hear spouted by angsty 13 year olds who think (despite the fact "edgy" characters are often fan favorites since they often turn out to be the most interesting / relatable characters ) that edginess = bad, and that anything bad happening to a character like, I dunno, EMOTIONAL ISSUES THAT REAL PEOPLE DEAL WITH makes that character edgy by default. Edginess can be done wrong, but not every edgy character is bad. Shut your pie hole, and hustle your buns out of my Italian styled soup kitchen, you cotton headed ninny mugginses. *cue air horns*
Also, hunny, if you hate edgy characters, oh boy, you do NOT wanna read ANY of my stories.
----------------------------------------
There. Now onto the main event. The butchering of a popular character. Let's get ready to break the hearts of fan girls everywhere! MUAH-HAHAHA!
Actually, I wasn't really able to find too much wrong with a character save for a) something completely subjective, b) something related more to a problem a have with zp's pacing as opposed to the character and c) a concern about how the character is written.
A) Damian being too much of a jerk. I disagree with this, but I didn't mention this above because. ...yeah, some people can feel that Dame is too much of a jerk, and I get why. It's more subjective as this attributes more to a subjective opinion on the character.
B) Damian's freak out in chapter 3. It's just the pacing in that scene that gets to me. It feels as though Dame goes from 0 to 6 in only a few frames and that entire segment where he's slowly becoming angrier and angrier feels rushed. According to Dame's character sheet (shown above ) Damian is supposed to be good at hiding his more demonic tendencies, but you would've never guessed that from this scene. This is something that kind of happens throughout zoophobia where the pacing with be slow, then all of a sudden, we just speed through an entire scene. For instance, the start of chapter 5 is pretty slow. However, we speed through the scene with Tom so fast, his appearance doesn't really do much or become really memorable. This more of a story problem and less of a character problem.
Now.... onto c.
First of all, by concern, I'm referring to something that might be a problem depending on how the rest of zoophobia turns out. The problem with both critiquing and defending Zoophobia is that we only have 5 chapters to go off of to determine its quality. This is something more like the tangent I had about Addison in my least favorite character list. I suggest for this, you grab a spoonful of salt and force it slowly down your throat as you read this as my concerns could easily be proven wrong here.
So what problem could I possibly foresee? Well, for an example of what I'm about to discuss, let me take you to a dark corner of the internet. The RWBY fandom. Specifically, let me introduce you to one of it's main cast
Tumblr media
Blake Belladonna.
For anyone outside the loop, Blake is (currently ) one of the most hated characters in the series. There are many reasons why, but for this, I'm going to lock in on one problem in particular. Throughout Volumes 1-5, Blake was notorious for being an inconsistent character. Granted, in volumes 1 and 2, this was not a problem unique to Blake as the writers were still trying to figure out how to write her and the rest of the characters. They couldn't decide weather they wanted Blake to be the introverted, bookworm, straight man character, or to be silly. In later volumes, however, the problem just got worse. While all the other characters were sorted out and had settled on their own personalities, Blake's character seemed to change whenever she was in a new scene. While it's not bad for a character to have multiple sides to them, this is not how you want to do it. One scene, Blake was a bitch who wanted nothing more than to be left alone. Next scene, she was an emotionally mature figure helping her gay chameleon friend with issues. Next scene, she was a trauma victim. Next scene, she was a freedom fighter fighting oppression. Next scene, she was a badass haunted by her past. Next scene, back to bitch.
You see the problem?
This made Blake a hard character to fully connect with, and eventually, the fandom ended up agreeing that Blake is better whenever the scene isn't focused on her.
So what does this have to do with Damian? Well, one thing I noticed with him when I first dipped my toe into this fandom was the three main interpretations of Damian's character there seemed to be. One, a flirty, yet cartoon villainy jerk; two, a misunderstood, rebellious boi who was somewhat mischievous; or three, an overposessive, yet tolerable brat who hated not getting his way. Just to clarify, I'm referring to fans who had only read the comic and had not seen any posts about him from Vivz.
I pondered why during the third zoophobia rewrite, and I eventually came to this conclusion : the type of Damian fans seemed to remember depended on WHICH Dame they remembered best, Ch2, Ch3, or Ch5. Why? Well, it basically wolloped me upside the head after reading a post where Dame's personality was described as "diverse". Because yeah.... It's diverse alright.
Let's put Dame under a microscope for a second and go through each of his appearences, and his character sheet which (someone correct me if I'm wrong ) came out between ch. 2 and ch.3.
His character sheet lists the following about his personality : he ranges from mischievous to a downright brat, he loves entertaining and messing with others and making them laugh, he's flirty, he's open, he can be spoiled or arrogant at times, he gets bored easily, and he is secretly lonely but hard to impress and has an enormous heart. He also has a dark side he's good at hiding
CH 1. Appears to be that one kid who enjoys messing with others, acts slightly flirty towards Kayla, and doesn't seem to take much very seriously.
Ch 2. I've often described this Dame as sociopathic, because honestly, he kinda is. He doesn't care about anyone here but himself. He acts flirty towards Kayla, and torments both Zill and Jack just to further his goal of charming a girl he supposedly knows will "give into temptation eventually " and he's outright manipulative here. He even finds Zill's pain amusing to some extent and mocks him and Jack while aggressively leaning on his cousin (probably to assert dominance (can aggressively leaning be the new t-posing? Please? ))
CH 3. Dame still has some lack of empathy, finding the idea of his cousin being burned alive funny, however this seems to be limited to just Jack. He's a lot more fun loving here, as seen in him running around town with his friends. He darker side makes an appearance. We see him entertaining others at the beginning, and oddly enough, he's more self conscious here. He gets embarrassed by Tenta, is bothered when he is teased about his nanny, and is triggered by the priest spouting that tasty religious bull shit. His conversation with his parents also makes him seem like he needs his daddy's approval, and may have daddy issues.
CH 5. Here, he's more of a brat. He's possessive of Addi, and at the beginning, he's more flirty and care free.
Thus far, Vivz seems to switch between various sides of dame depending on what she needs him to be for a certain scene. As scene with Blake, this isn't something that really works out well. And it's not like Vivz can't write characters with different sides to them. We see her do this with Jack, Kayla, and Cameron. In one chapter, these characters can show more then one side to them. In Damian's case, he's like play-doh. He just molds into whatever Vivz needs instead of just being his own character.
Like I said before though, this is a concern. Future chapters can easily prove me wrong here. This is just the sad ramblings of a Canadian who is obsessed with covering themselves in glitter. Tell me what you guys think and if you enjoyed!
Now to wait for zoophobiapika to either message me or reblog this, quoting a line from it.....

Commission: Hot & Cold (Or Maybe Hot!)
Series: Tales of Symphonia Request: Lloyd and Sheena as baristas. Kratos as the boss man. Shenanigans commence.  For: @lloyd-irving This one was a lot of fun to write. =w= I haven’t played Symphonia in a long time, so I was a little paranoid I’d get everyone wrong, but my beta assures me I did well. It was really fun writing Kratos again, but I was surprised to see how nice it was to write Lloyd and Sheena too. A nice throwback to the game that brought me into the Tales fandom.
Thank you very much for the commission, and I hope you enjoy it!
There were many things Lloyd had discovered in life that he liked, and one of them was coffee. It was one of the main reasons he’d leapt at the chance to work at his father’s coffee shop. While he still had the sneaking suspicion part of the reason he’d been offered the position was to keep him out of trouble after the totally-not-his-fault incident involving a children’s chemistry set and his uncle’s not-so-long-now hair, there was coffee. Free coffee. And free coffee was an incredible motivator.
However, as incredible as the motivation of free coffee -- and often times leftover baked goods and sandwiches -- was, sometimes he came just for the clientele. Especially one of the rare and brave few who was willing to talk back to Sheena when she started using what Zelos affectionately called her ‘pre-banshee screech.’
“Look, sir...” Lloyd leaned against the counter and took a sip of his drink, raising an eyebrow as he watched Sheena balance her weight on her palms to go nose-to-nose with a middle-aged businessman. “We don’t have pumpkin spice loaf cake. We’ve got bread and muffins and enough drinks to clog your arteries. So if that’s not what you want, then you’re gonna have to go somewhere else.”
The man, with the bushiest mustache Lloyd had ever seen, didn’t seem to find Sheena’s tone intimidating by any means -- one of the few he’d ever seen. Somehow he’d managed to look haughtier than before as he tapped the counter impatiently and scoffed. “Well then, sweetheart, I suggest you get in back and make some.”
“Uh-oh.” Frowning, Lloyd set his drink aside stood up. Sheena’s eyebrow was beginning to twitch, and that was always the first sign that someone was about to go through a window if they weren’t separated soon. As funny as the thought might be, trying to explain to management why the window was broken (again) would be hard. “Uh, Sheena…”
“Listen here, buddy…”
“Is there a problem, sir?” A hush fell over the coffee shop as a third voice joined the conversation and Lloyd watched as his boss approached the counter, arms crossed and mouth pressed into a thin line.
“Who the hell are you?”
“I’m the store manager,” Kratos replied, his tone flat and even, an eyebrow raising in a silent gesture for the man to challenge him again. “If there’s a problem here--”
Silence settled over the small group for a second time as the businessman looked Kratos up and down, the irritated red of his face slowly melting away into a panicked pale. “No. No, I… suppose there isn’t. I’ll just have a coffee. Sweetened.”
“Fine. $2.15, and I’m sure Ms. Fujibayashi would be happy to bring that to you once it’s finished.”
The man didn’t linger at the counter any longer than he had to after he paid and quickly scurried away to a table. Once he was sitting down, Kratos made easy work of filling a medium sized cup and offered it to Sheena with a neutral expression. “Salt and sugar have very unfortunate similarities at first glance.”
“Uh, yeah, I guess s--oh.”
“Hmph.”
“...damn, dad.” Lloyd muttered, only to get a soft tap to his forehead and a disapproving stare.
“Language, Lloyden.”
“Aw, come on, don’t--”
“I’ll be in the back if you require my help again.”
As silently as he’d come, Kratos vanished into the back once more. Almost immediately, Sheena dove toward the salt-shaker sitting on the counter at the same time Lloyd grabbed the sugar.
“Sheena!”
“Lloyden.”
“Not you too…” He grimaced and made an attempt to grab the salt. “Come on, we can’t just--”
“Boss’ blessing.” Sheena grinned and danced out of Lloyd’s grasp, giving the salt several hard shakes. “Whoops. Too late.”
“Sheena!” Lloyd gasped, stumbling to the edge of the counter to watch as Sheena approached the formally displeased man with the utmost glee. It would be a lie to say he didn’t want to laugh, but he also didn’t want to get yelled at. Still, they did have a pretty good shield if he tried. Kratos was a force to be reckoned with and as much as Lloyd might have enjoyed pushing his father’s buttons, he knew when to back off. Truly, his father could be terrifying.
“--ahem. Is there anyone at the register?”
“Oh, crap!” Forcing his gaze away from the spectacle about to unfold, Lloyd flew back to the register with a practiced grin. “Welcome to Hot & Cold -- Or Maybe Hot! What can I get for you--oh! Hey, uncle.”
“Lloyd.” Across the counter, Yuan regarded Lloyd with a small frown, his eyebrows -- one still unfortunately thinner than the other -- drawn together and jerked his head behind him. “She looks happy. What happened?”
“Uh, well…” Lloyd’s grin turned sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck. “He was a total ass and Sheena was angry, but then dad--”
The rest of Lloyd’s explanation was cut off as the businessman retched, spitting his coffee across the table as he coughed several times, much to Sheena’s poorly veiled delight.
“I’m so sorry, sir! Was it too hot?” She grinned, and Lloyd was vaguely reminded of a tiger he’d seen in his old picture books. Maybe Zelos really was onto something about Sheena.
“T-this is--” The man stopped, his gaze darting nervously toward the back before he began to shake his head rapidly. “Yes--just a tad warm. I’ll… go and fetch myself some creamer then. Excuse me.”
“Oh my god…” Lloyd murmured, ducking behind the counter as he tried to conceal his own laughter, the task only growing harder as Sheena all but sprinted to the back and her guffaw could be heard even through the closed door.
“...I see Kratos got involved in another customer incident,” Yuan sighed. “What was it this time? Too many beans? Not enough beans?”
“S-salt,” Lloyd choked out, dragging his weight up to fumble clumsily with the register. “That guy’s face…”
“Of course it was. I daresay he has enough of it to season the sea.” Yuan snorted and motioned with his hand. “Green tea, same as always.”
“Green tea!” Lloyd chirped back, “Uh, large, two bags, three sugars and, uh…”
“Venti,” Yuan corrected, “I’d expect you would have learned these by now.”
“H-hey, I knew that. I just… I just forgot.”
“Hm… Between you and your father, I sometimes wonder how this place hasn’t had more accidents.”
“Hey…!”
“A pastry.”
“...huh?”
“Three sugars and one of your chocolate pastries. My usual order.”
“Oh, right. Okay, that’ll be--” Lloyd stopped, the proper amount already being held out to him with a sigh. “...it’ll be right out?”
A nod was his only response, and he immediately set back to work as Sheena finally reemerged from the back, wiping her eyes.
“Feeling better?” Lloyd asked as he began to pour hot water into his newest order.
“Oh, much, that was--” Sheena nodded, glancing at the door as the bell rang out again. Her expression faltered and a scowl took place of her once amused grin. “...and there goes the mood.”
“Sheena! Hello there, my beauty. I’ve been thinking about you a latte.”
“Ugh, don’t even start…”
“Aw come on, now. I know you turn me down a lot, I’m just asking for an extra shot today.”
Shuffling over to where Yuan was waiting, Lloyd grabbed a sharpie and scribbled out ‘sry about ur hair, uncl’ on the cup and slid it over with a pastry. His attention fluttered over to the register, where Sheena was flexing her fingers in warning as a mass of red hair Lloyd could only assume was Zelos backed away.
“Hey now, babe, don’t be mad. Can’t you feel what’s brewing between us?”
“If you don’t knock it off with the lines--”
“...charming as always,” Yuan muttered, taking an immediate sip from his hot tea without so much as a flinch. “You’ve learned to stay away from them, I see.”
“The last time I tried to save Zelos, I woke up in the back and dad was having an episode,” Lloyd shuddered. He really didn’t need to repeat that incident. It had been a disaster in at least seven ways. Maybe even twelve.
“...I won’t ask.” Lloyd smiled, lop-sided and grateful, it was probably better that he didn’t. Kratos has only just crushed his habit of fluttering near Lloyd whenever he was on shift with Sheena. It had been an accident, after all. “Good luck, then. It seems like you will need it.”
A cup of coffee obscured his vision before Lloyd could respond and he jumped, turning to meet the eyes of a very irritated Sheena. Her eyebrow was twitching dangerously as she gave the cup a small shake and thrust it into Lloyd’s hands. “Finish his drink before I pour it on his stupid face.”
Lloyd gulped, taking the cup as quickly as he dared to look over the order label. Coffee; extra sugar x3, and creamer for… “Nononever-at-stoptrying-dot-jerk?”
Sheena growled and Lloyd took a step back. The door rang again and he was all too happy for an excuse to dart away. At least dealing with Zelos didn’t usually risk life or limb. Usually.
“You know…” Lloyd began as he finally approached the table and offered Zelos his coffee. “If you keep up those weird names, one day she’s really going to throw you through a window.”
“Bud!” Zelos grinned, waving his hand in an exaggerated hello. “You wouldn’t let her do that to me, would you? We’re best buds! You don’t want to see me in pain.”
“No,” Lloyd admitted, “but I don’t want to be hurt either. I kinda think she’d throw me too if I tried to stop her.”
“...hot,” Zelos hummed, nodding. “Gotta love a hunnie that strong.”
“Uh,” Lloyd shrugged, “I mean, I can turn up the AC. The dial isn’t that hard to turn.”
Zelos choked, staring at Lloyd as if he couldn’t decide if he was purposefully being oblivious or truly missed what he’d meant. “...that’s okay,” Zelos pouted. “One of these days I’m gonna have to drag you out on a proper babe hunt. Then we can--”
“LLOYD!” They both jump as Sheena calls across the cafe and waves him over. “We need more Pum-Spice from the back. Mind helping me out?”
“Looks like we got caught,” Zelos sighed and waved Lloyd off. “Hurry up, before she goes full banshee.”
“...you know, sometimes I think you do it on purpose,” Lloyd shook his head and jogged into the back. Inventory was a mess after a late and overstocked shipment. Finding what he wanted could take a while. “Pumpkin… pumpkin… uhhh...”
“...Lloyd.”
Lloyd jumped, knocking a box down that fell neatly at his feet. “Dad! You scared me!”
“Lloyd.” Kratos repeated, an empty cup clasped in one of his hands. “Would you care to explain this to me?”
“Uh, it’s a cup?” Lloyd asked, slow and careful. It was, indeed, a cup. Maybe Kratos wanted more coffee?
“Very astute,” Kratos replied, holding it out. “This was just returned to me by a customer.”
Lloyd blinked and took the cup. “Uh, do they want a refill?”
“No.”
“Bad coffee?”
“No, Lloyd.”
“Err… salt?”
“...no.”
“So….” Lloyd shrugged, turning it over in his hands. “What’s the probl…”
Written on the side of the cup in his own messy script: Lord of the Tight Pants.
“Um…”
Kratos frowned, the look on his face the one Lloyd always knew was a sign of trouble. “Would you care to explain?”
Lloyd hesitated. There was really only one right answer when his father looked like this and a ‘girly guy with tight pants came in and ordered a fruity drink’ didn’t really seem to be the right answer. But it was the only one he had… and thus the answer he gave.
“Lloyd.” Kratos sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “As much as I want to encourage your… creative spirit, if you could avoid insulting customers, especially important ones, on their beverages, I would greatly appreciate it.”
“Seriously?” Lloyd could only stare. The man had come in early that morning with an attitude that was both horrifying and entirely too friendly all at once. His clothes had been tighter than Professor Sage’s classroom rules and blindingly bright in their sheer… whiteness. He’d looked like something that had walked right out of the sixties. Or maybe it was the seventies. History wasn’t Lloyd’s strong point, but the man had looked ridiculous. “But he was…”
“My boss.” Kratos explained evenly, eyes narrowed. “I may be the store manager, but I still have someone I answer to.”
Was that why he’d asked so many weird questions? Or why he’d interrogated Sheena? Oh man, he hadn’t even answered them truthfully. He’d sort of been a troll. And maybe made a small amount of an ass of himself. Crap. “Disco Fever is your boss?”
Kratos’ mouth twitched, a clear sign he was trying not to show laughter, and Lloyd felt himself relax. Good. He hadn’t ruined everything ever. “...yes,” he nodded, “and I would appreciate it if you were to write his proper name down on the cup. No matter how… true those nicknames may be.”
Lloyd flinched, his smile apologetic as he nodded. “Uh, sorry… about that.”
“Write whatever you please on the cups of your friends. But for strangers… behave.”
“...right.”
“Now,” Kratos bent down, scooping up Lloyd’s fallen box to place it in his hands. “The lunch rush is about to start.”
A yelp, followed by a small crash sounded from the front. “Whoa, whoa! Babe!”
“I’ll take care of the back,” he sighed, pushing Lloyd forward. “Just… please make sure they do not break anything important.”
“Calm down! I just asked for a little extra sugar--”
“I’ll show you sugar, pervert…!”
