Ichigo gets a lot of shit (typically from outside of the Bleach fandom) for being a character whose wants/goals never change from beginning to end of his series. He always wants to protect people (and even though I could argue that he went from only wanting to protect those close to him to wanting to protect everyone he can, that's not the point I'm making with this post).
I think a lot of people who only give Bleach a passing glance fail to see Ichigo's true character growth. It's not about what his goals are or who he's trying to protect, but rather, it's about how he achieves it.
Ichigo is very self-sacrificing in the first third of Bleach. He believes that if the mission is successful, then it doesn't matter how broken or close to death he gets. The mission, saving Rukia (and hurting/killing as few people in the process), is all that matters.
Then, when a part of himself (his inner hollow) emerges, and says "hey yeah no, I'm not letting you get yourself killed and I'm also not letting you hold back against your enemy", Ichigo immediately rejects it.
It's not until he defeats his inner Hollow that we see Ichigo really dive into a fight with the intent to kill. The problem is, once his Hollow is defeated, he thinks that's it. He's freed himself of that part of him and he can go back to being self-sacrificing.
We see this throughout the Hueco Mundo arc. It's why saving Orihime parallels saving Rukia. Ichigo naively thinks he can suppress a part of himself. He bottles it up until it explodes, coming back to haunt him in his fight with Ulquiorra, etc. He learns that side of himself isn't so easily tucked away, and if he recklessly endangers himself, he could end up endangering his friends too. At his own hand, no less.
Then Ichigo discovers he can commit the ultimate sacrifice. Final Getsuga Tenshou. He can throw away these powers and the parts of himself that he doesn't like, and he can get rid of Aizen all in one go. He's lucky that it worked, but only because Kisuke was there.
Then, once Ichigo is powerless, he learns that's not what he really wants. Life doesn't "go back to normal". The can is open, and there's danger out there beyond just Aizen. And Ichigo can't do anything to stop it unless he gets his powers back.
So he does. Then he cuts down the threat to his friends and family. And he doesn't hesitate this time. Yes, he still has compassion for his enemies (he even goes to the Soul Society to ask for Ginjo's body so he can give him a proper burial), but he's learned not to hold back and he's learned that new threats will appear and he'd rather have the power to face them head on.
So then comes TYBW, and Ichigo is facing battles head-on without hesitation. He goes straight to the "bad guys" with the intention of cutting them down. He learns the truth about who his Inner Hollow is, and he accepts it. He's even willing to accept whatever consequences may come from training in the Royal Palace and becoming stronger. He accepts his power and potential fully, and learns that he has what it takes to protect his loved ones with his strength, and not with a sacrifice.
Ultimately, he heals the part of himself that thinks his life is worth less than other people's. He heals the part of himself that blames himself for not protecting his mother (when he was 9!! Like come on Isshin, put the kid in therapy!! Anyway...) He grows into someone who knows his self worth. And I think, for me at least, that makes him one of my favourite protagonists of all time. Because can't most of us relate to feeling worthless at times? And don't we also wanna overcome that?
Thanks for reading my ramble lmao, I'm sure this could have been more elegantly written but I'm very sleepy and just wanted to get my thoughts out there.

help my ass is thirsty for Shinji...
And a lot more but I'll leave it at that for now

Cock-warming your Captain.
Starring: Shinji Hirako x f!reader; Aizen Sosuke;
Format: drabble;
Warnings: nsfw, language, jealousy, undefined relationship between Shinji and the reader, slight power imbalance, vaginal sex, cock-warming, turn back the pendolum arc;
Plot: if you wanted to make your Captain work, you had to cock-warm him. How ironic is it that he won’t even touch a paper, because he just yearned for your attention? Jealousy flinged around the Fifth Division’s barracks.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
The ominous, dull thud of a pile of documents being uncerimoniously slumped onto Captain Hirako’s desk made him grimace and loll his head back with resignation. It was not like you and the kind-hearted Lieutenant Aizen had not warned him about the amount of the unsigned reports storing up in the angle of his dorm. In the years you had spent working under his command as a fourth seat, you had acknowledged that your Captain was the first in line when it came down to a fight, or a mission in the World of the Livings, but he would have not hesitated to sell his soul to the haunts of Hell not to glue his ass onto his chair and sign up reports.
“Captain Hirako, I have talked to Lieutenant Aizen and we agreed that we cannot keep on counterfeiting your signature. — you explained, the palms of your hands curling around the edge of the desk as you watched your Captain palming his forehead in dispair — We are not willing to risk our necks anymore. This is your responsibility” the words rolled out of your tongue effortlessly, despite the sweat beading your forehead.
You had never been this direct and harsh to your superior. However, it felt almost liberating and you were proud of yourself.
The man in front of you hummed and leisurely sat back in a straight position, hooded eyes flicking up to meet yours in consternation. Locked in this staring contest, you awaited for him to speak up, or just busying himself in randomly scribbling his names at the bottoms of the papers. Still, your insufferable Captain took his sweet time in letting your words sink in and simply shot you a shit-eating grin you knew way too well.
“Geez, is that so? Alright, I’ll get this shit done. — he agreed, before patting his thigh with his right hand and grinning up at you almost expectantly — But can you do that thin’ I love oh so much? Yar Captain needs it” the blond man said and you could just mentally curse yourself for having indulged him in such scandalous depravities only for the sake of the Fifth Division’s reputation. Either you squeezed his cock within your slippery inner walls, or he was not going to get the job done. And obviously you could not refuse.
You sighed, nodding your head and circling the desk, watching him looking at you up and down in glee “This is the last time, Captain” you warned him, his hands working on his shikakusho as you proceeded in doing the same with yours.
What a lie. Both him and you knew it would have happened again. And again. And again.
As you turned around, kicking your pants off of your feet, Shinji’s hands glided down your hips and helped you to straddle him. As you felt the bulbuous head of his cock poke at your entrance, you inhaled sharply and gradually, slowly lowered yourself onto his shaft. A strained, pained moan escaped your lips, nails scraping the desk in front of you for support as Shinji groaned in bliss. You felt his lips leave a few kisses below your ear, arms holding against him as you tentatively rolled up your hips.
“I missed this pussy” he cooed, as you fought back the urge to bounce up and down his dick. You hated to admit it, but he filled you up so good.
“G-Get to work” you hissed, rolling your eyes and trying your best to relax and not think about how good he stretched you out.
Shinji snickered and nuzzled his face onto your neck “Nah, I have all night long to take care of that. I just want ya to warm me up, nice and good now, won’t ya? — he drawled, causing a shaky breath to leave your lips — After all, I can’t stand the sight of you trailing behind that freak with glasses anymore” he complained and you let out a dry chuckle at that.
Aizen Sosuke, huh? Was that jealousy? Oh, you should have seen it coming. It was true that you had been spending a lot of time with your Lieutenant as of late, but it was all your Captain’s fault. You were both swamped with work and you were forced to team up to get everything done.
“You are an ass” you mumbled, propping your chin onto the back of your head as you fluttered your eyes closed in defeat. You had fallen in his trap so easily, how could you be that stupid?
“With a great ass squashed onto my lap”.
AUTHOR NOTE.
Hello there! Sorry this thirst took a little longer but summer is even more chaotic than winter. I can’t wait for this season to end :( I hope you enjoyed this one, Shinji is such a dork, but I love him.
Until next,

Now you may be seeing something right? FGT Ichigo looks kinda a lot like Yhwach.
Now we know Ichigo is a Quincy and all Quincy have Yhwach's blood running in their veins but only Ichigo looks like him to this extent when in his Final Getsuga Tensho.
Both have long dark hair.
Red crimson eyes.
And a handsome fac-
Ahem, I mean this leads me to believe that Ichigo may have been using his Quincy powers while in that state. Hey look, this is just a theory and Kubo may have just thought it's a cool design choice before the Yhwach twist and all but just let me have fun with this one okay!
Tumblr media
Now what is Final Getsuga Tensho specifically? Some believe it's Ichigo absorbing all of Zangetsu's powers but I disagree. I think FGT is more of a fusion between them. Getsuga Tensho is a technique using Zangetsu's powers and only Ichigo can call upon the technique, it cannot be used by Zangetsu without its wielder or Ichigo without his weapon. And my proof is this line by Ichigo:
Tumblr media
He is fighting with Zangetsu, not using him.
And there's also the fact that Zangetsu was literally fused to his hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now then that we established that, let's get to this point.
Final Getsuga Tensho is not just a final technique. It's also a combination of all of Ichigo's powers. Both Shinigami, Hollow and Quincy. And why is that?
Tumblr media
When Ichigo was fighting Zangetsu he was fighting both his Quincy (in Young lad Zangetsu) Hollow/Shinigami (In white Ichigo) in a fused state. And achieving FGT is him basically accepting both powers, and making himself a weapon for a short time, becoming Getsuga itself.
Heck we talked about his design resembling Yhwach why not talk about how his design resembles a Hollow in how the mask wraps around half of his face with little teeth and how the black spirit energy is like his Tensa Zangetsu's Getsuga Tensho (shinigami power) only strengthening my thought about it not just being a final technique/attack but a fusion of all of his powers, both mastered and latent (which is why Ishinn had Ichigo do it, not him. His wouldn't probably match Aizen)
Tumblr media
And the nail in the coffin is what Aizen says here.
Tumblr media
Aizen here is beyond Quincy, Shinigamis, Hollows and humans, no one can stand up to him. He's on a higher plane than all beings except Ichigo. Who overpowered him with ease, who's on a higher plane than he is.
There's only one being that can be on a higher plane than the Quincy,Hollows,Shinigami:
Tumblr media
Yhwach, the Quincy King, the Almighty. He's the only one who could over power aizen that much and without even trying.
Now I am not saying that Ichigo is somehow using the Almighty powers, that's stupid. I am saying that he was using his Quincy powers which are from Yhwach himself. Fusing it with his other abilities to make Aizen look like a joke.
And even then, FGT is probably just an imperfect version of Ichigo's final form he used against Yhwach. Because FGT is used when Ichigo didn't fully realize and unlock his Quincy powers/Blood. And that it's a one shot weapon where he can use it only once and lose all his powers after whereas his final form where he realizes and mastered all of his powers he uses to its fullest potential and doesn't just disappear.
And that it looked like how Zangetsu looks like when he was fighting him for the Final Getsuga Tensho.
And all of this leads me to believe that Ichigo was using his Quincy powers there and that's how he overpowered Aizen that easily, especially in base.
TL;DR FGT is just an imperfect Final form that Ichigo uses against Yhwach in chapter 676.
Good night or Good morning 👍.
NaruHina 4ever
Petition to call Tensa Zangetsu YoungMan Zangetsu.
But remember. That's just a theory, a game theory. Thanks for watching.

Hello! Glad to see you back! Can I request Aizen x Stronger Reader? The reader is cold towards Aizen, but somehow he falls in love first then her? Like enemies to lovers?
A/n: Hi!! Enemies to lovers has my heart and I'm happy to be receiving requests like this❤️
Tw: Suggestive content
Tumblr media
Not even he could explain how things happened, it took time but he realized… or maybe he was already aware that this would be visible sooner or later. Cold to the core, strong and firm holding the hilt of your sword. He initially thought you were just going to be another pawn on his board but you, you were not to be underestimated. You knew about his plans and he knew that you knew, he wasn't afraid that you would tell the others about it because he was aware that you didn't care and so you wouldn't be a problem, but your coldness towards him could turn out to be.
He used to give you long looks, greet you in the hallways and even tease you because you thought you were one step away from him and his plans. At least that's what you thought and he liked it when you thought that. The more you hated him and avoided his presence, the more he insisted on staying close to you, proof of this was when you arrived at your room and found him rummaging through the papers on your desk. The tip of your sword went straight to his throat and he smiled at you when he saw you cross his eyes with your cold ones, he wasn't afraid of you or what you would do. That strange feeling was running through his veins again when that moment happened and a small drop of sweat ran down his face. Something that would not be usual for a man like him.
"What are you looking for, Aizen?" You said through gritted teeth
"Actually I was waiting for you to show up and while you were out, I was just taking a look at the things you had here. I hope I didn't bother you in any way" He explained himself with his look saying the opposite of what the words
"You already bothered me when you set foot here"
"I'm sorry, but I needed to come here." He walked away from the table and you sheathed your sword. "I think we should clarify the things, don't you think?"
"There's nothing to clarify between us, we have nothing to do with each other"
"We have, my dear… more than you can imagine" He approached you with slow steps
"And what would it be ?"
"You know a lot of things about me, things you shouldn't know but I'm not going to do anything about it"
"Oh, I know ! Your evil plans, is that it?" You joked, crossing your arms and looking at him
"My evil plans ?"He smiled at the way you named it
"I'm not interested in them even if I already know your moves"
"Are you sure?" He asked and you pondered for a moment. "Maybe when I reach the throne, you'll want to join me. It's not a bad plan and if you see what I'm trying to do, you should agree. I really admire you, you know? Your skills are exceptional and so are you" He approached and ran a hand over your face
"Are you trying to seduce me, captain? It won't work" You smiled
"We won't know if we don't try, will we?" He said, taking your chin between his fingers."Maybe you're hiding what you really want or am I wrong?" He whispered in your ear and you felt a shiver run down your spine.
Yes, maybe he was right, maybe you even thought he was a little like your type. He was cold inside more than he let on and you could read that in his intense gaze, but he would have to do better than that to get what he wanted from you. You weren't willing to give him everything so easily.
"What about you Aizen? Is there something you want to tell me that you're trying to hide? I thought you were colder and not given to romance" You teased. "What's wrong? Do I weaken you?"
"No, it's just a special affection for you, nothing more than that" He lied to himself at that moment and you knew
"Well, a special affection… I see you're a terrible liar" You chuckled. "But I must be thankful for admitting that you at least feel something. There's no need to be ashamed of it, you're more than that" You winked at him
"Are you so used to cliche romances that you can't react to more peculiar forms?"
"Romances of any kind have never been my type"
"So, what about love and hate? Two sides of the same coin" His hand slid around your waist and you let out a long sigh
"Are you referring to us?"
"You say you hate me, but your eyes say you love me. You're very easy to read, Y/n. Your words aren't what you really think, otherwise you would have already walked away from me while I touched you"He started placing kisses on the curve of your neck and shoulder
It was incredible how he had managed to turn the tables in his favor and point out in others the feelings that actually belonged to him.
"Aizen…" You tried to start a sentence but given that he was right in what he was saying, you even forgot what you were going to say
You hated feeling anything, no matter how small, for that man, he in turn felt the same way you did. His mask may have fallen but the feeling was there within the ice of his gaze.
"Am I right?"
"If you can satisfy me, maybe I'll say" You bit your lip, teasing him
"Miss Y/n, I always get what I want. I thought you also knew that beyond the plans"He said before finally reaching your lips
It was slow but warm, even though both hearts were cold. His hands gently pulled you closer to him and you placed a hand on his face and moved away from his lips, looking into his half-closed eyes.
"Am I part of your plans?" You asked
"You always were" He smiled, removing his glasses and put them aside and kissed you again

In the years since I've been running this blog, I've made a lot of jokes about Renji's seemingly ill-thought-out plan of:
Beat Captain Kuchiki
???
Profit Be with Rukia again
but I was looking at his volume poem the other day, and I think that I am an idiot, and beating Byakuya has never been connected to seeing Rukia again. It's a smokescreen. He does have an actual, actionable plan of training and working hard enough to become a vice-captain (specifically Byakuya's vice-captain), and then approaching Rukia again as her social equal. We know that beating Byakuya wasn't a key component of that, because he was planning to do it as soon as she got back from her mission.
The thing about defeating Byakuya is that Renji is purposely setting his sights a few degrees to the left of the truth to keep from falling into depression and despair. Trying to get Rukia back is a thing that he can try to do and fail, and in fact, he very well may. Beating Byakuya is impossible. No one believes he can really do it, least of all himself, which means, paradoxically, he can't lose. When you fail to do the impossible, you can shrug and say, "well, it was impossible, what did you expect?
I mean, it's right there in the poem: "I am going to focus on reaching the unreachable because if I think about Rukia, I am going to kill myself." And I don't think Renji is a guy who has a suicidal bent--the fact that he pursues this line of thinking is proof of that. But what is the difference between a person who thinks about killing themself and someone actively works to not to...? I don't know. It's complicated.
One of the most fundamental themes of Bleach is the idea that Hollows are fallen souls who lose their hearts and eat other souls in order to ease their pain, but they only end up creating more Hollows in the process except that we see examples again and again of shinigami pulling this exact shit (Byakuya, I am looking at you). I cannot figure out if Renji's drive to distract himself from the pain of losing Rukia is a play to avoid falling into monstrosity, or if it's pretty much a direct route. I mean, this is basically exactly the path that Gin and Tousen take--which makes it all the more interesting to me that Aizen rejects Renji as unsuitable for his conspiracy.
I can't put my finger on any particular thing that separates Renji from other characters in this respect, aside from maybe his fundamental Renji-ness-- the fact that he has other friends and connections? That he has hope, no matter how dim, that he may actually reunite with Rukia some day? That he's just a guy who reaches for life instead of death? (Mildly off-topic, but if there is one other character that this is also true of, I think it might be...Matsumoto???)
Anyway, another thing I like about setting himself against an impossible goalpost is that this would be a terrible idea for a human with a finite lifespan, but shinigami have all the time in the world. Go ahead, pal, pursue your impossible tasks, live your truth! I read a lot of stories about semi-immortal beings, and I love love love it when they seem very human and then they do some batshit insane thing that makes you realize, oh, they very much are not.
My favorite way to break my own heart is re-reading the "Fate is a Millstone" chapter, where we learn that Renji was a hair's-breadth away achieving his real goal of talking to Rukia again, only to have Fate throw him a face-full of pocket sand. I think it's extra salt in the wound, to be honest, if he's been pursuing the impossible goal of beating Byakuya as a distraction for all these years, only to arrive at a place where Rukia's life literally hinges on him beating Byakuya, a thing which is not just theoretically impossible, but something Renji has spent 40 years becoming intimately familiar with just how impossible it is.

So I have noticed something very interesting. Gin is buttering up aizen to feed him to the god machine as some premuim petrol. BUT ALSO many powerful souls that die DON't get fed to the god machine. They go to hell because they are powerfull enough that their removal from the world harms the god machine more than feeding them helps it. So my question is, whats up with that?
there's a couple parts to this:
Powerful souls that go to hell because they're powerful ARE STILL feeding The Life Machine- All that power they're off-gassing in Hell is still going into The Life machine- Hell exists more or less as a ringer to squeeze spiritual energy out of souls before sending them back into the cycle to grow again.
It harms The Life machine more to consume a powerful soul in totality because then The Life Machine doesn't get to use that *particualrly good* soul to generate energy it needs again, and again, and again- So someone like Yamamoto is going to go around about a zillion more times, if things go well.
Problem is, things are NOT going well right now- the wheel is jammed and not giving the Life Machine nearly the energy it needs, so it needs an emergency calorie dump while Tech Support works out how to unjam the wheel, which may, technically, involve stopping and starting it again.
The final thing is a matter of scale. if we think of souls in terms of calories: >Regular animal/plant soul: One Cheez-it. Not a lot individually, but they add up. >Regular Human Soul: One Chicken Nugget/celery and peanut butter. it's technically a snack, but it's not satisfying on it's own. >Average Shingami, Quincy footsoldier or lesser hollow Soul: Fast-food meal. About as much food at most people really need in a day. >Captain-class Shinigami or Espada-class Hollows or Sternritter: Giant Meal At Grandma's House that leaves you passed out on the couch and the leftovers she sends you home with that feed you for a week. >Aizen, once he fuses with the hollow inside the Hogyoku and achieves his Final Form: Actually eating every last crumb of every last dish at the Family Reunion thanksgiving with four grandmas cooking: Two turkeys, A Standing Rib Roast, A Ham, six kinds of soup, two salads, four types of baked vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, potatoes au gratin, popovers, busicuits, rolls and bread, an actual ocean of gravy- and then there's dessert: Apple pie, pumkin pie, pecan pie, cherry pie, chocolate cake, cookies, early christmas cookies, avalanches of whipped cream. And ofc- cider and beer and hot chocolate and coffee and soda and fuck it just drink a whole gallon of milk while you're at it. More food than any human should consume in a whole year, let alone one sitting.
So you can see why Aizen is getting pulled out of the cycle for special treatment. He's gonna be there for The Life Machine to gnaw on for most of the series. And even then, after suffering the most direct and intimate contact anyone can get with what passes for god, The Life Machine may yet choose to send his empty, heavily chewed husk back for another turn because that why waste the seed of a good crop like?

Hello everything is fine? If requests are still open can I request headcanons (aizen, komamura and zaraki) x fem!reader? The reader being a vampire and having the powers of Alucard from Hellsing? Thank you in advance.
Things have been up and down ya know. Hope things are going well for you? My requests are still open and this was a fun one to get. I don't think I've written for Komamura? Either way, mixing some of my favorite things is always a good time. TW: blood and death talked about, unhealthy relationships and talks of bad treatment towards reader
Aizen
Aizen is perhaps the worst person to be with as a vampire unfortunately but is anyone surprised
Look, he's capable of learning to love but it's a slow and hard process that sadly means you suffer more then he will....to start
He wants control of everything starting with when and what you eat along with how much you get
His blood, wonderful tasting as it is, is only ever a treat for good behavior and more often than not you get espada blood
This will continue for as long as he doest fully trust or care about you
Fights are a common during this time but the longer you choose him, the longer you stay and fight back the more he softens and opens up
Though it takes time Aizen does eventually see why his actions are wrong and though he won't regret them he does change and aim to make up for it
Fresh blood from kills he got for you, his own blood straight from his arm or neck if you all are feeling cuddly and plenty of gifts
He thrives on watching you thrive, of seeing you smile and revel in being full and able to exist without worry
A power couple in the most dangerous sense of the words not to be taken lightly yet so happy to merely be around each other even if the road to get there was rough
Komamura
An absolute sweetheart who will do his best to make you feel accepted no matter your past or problems
Komamura understands what it's like to be so different and knows first hand that it can be hard to trust others so he wanted to reach out to you
Though he doesn't fully understand all your needs and will struggle to understand he wants you to tell him everything so he can help
Will have Unahana draw his blood so you can have food, his squad is willing to do the same one you become friends
One of the things he greatly appreciate about your skills is the ability to melt into the shadows, he doesn't want you to have to fight and this method can keep you safe
Trains with you whenever you ask and is happy to help you learn or overcome any trouble
You being a vampire really doesn't change anything to him, Komamura sees you as person separate from anything else
So long as you want to protect people and have good morals that's enough for him, you accept him and he accepts you
Kenpachi
Kenpachi is weirdly the best person to be with as a vampire and he's proud of it
Need food? That's find he was in a fighting mood anyway, he can hunt for you if you want or better yet just drink from him
It's the same for if you're ever worried about losing control or just need to explain some energy Kenpachi is more than happy to fight you and keep a close eye on you
He defends you from the others who think you’re untrustworthy or dangerous, really you're no worse than him
To everyone's amusement you both have this line of thought that you've tamed a beast in one way or another
Really Kenpachi is just so proud to say your his lover and for so many reasons that no one can really argue with him on it
Will want to fight you sometimes ya know to test "your strength and make sure your not holding back too much"
Gets really jealous if you drink from anyone else, even a blood bag but won't admit it, the only exception to this is if its a kill he got you
Overall he's fine with it there's nothing about it that bothers him and he encourages everything you do, feral or not he's here for it
Hello everyone~ I am back from a rather unexpected break. To make a long story short, a lot happened recently, most of it not good but getting better. I even started a new job that I've been enjoying so far. I want to write again though so I finally sat down and got this bad boy done. The next thing will feature a favorite character of mine that isn't even on my writing list so just know it's happening. Have a good day or night and thank you so much for your support. Lilly~

I just found your blog and omg it's a blessing, could I request either sfw or nsfw Ulquiorra with his female Fraccion who is pretty loud and obnoxious (literally a female version of Grimmjow) I hope you have a good day/night! 🖤
`Ulquiorra Cifer with a loud and obnoxious fraccion s/o sfw and nsfw Headcanons:
Fandom: Bleach
Rated: 16+ mayyyybe? The NSFW bit isn't that descriptive but I put a warning just in case!
Warnings: slight nsfw
Admin Harmony🐯: Aw thank you so much for calling my blog a blessing! I find that to be very flattering and hilarious. I have been laughing at your compliment ever since I read this haha. I hope you enjoy this!
┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-When Ulquiorra first met his fraccion one word he could really think in his head was this- obnoxious.
-The only reason why he agreed for you to be his fraccion was for your usefulness and nothing else.
-You have unique powers that couldn’t quite match to any other arrancar and Aizen spoke highly of you before the two of you met. So, before meeting you he decided to take up on Lord Aizen’s Fraccion suggestion.
-Surely, you would be smart, diligent, and capable just like him… well- he was wrong.
-He couldn’t believe that Lord Aizen would suggest someone who acts just like Grimmjow to be his fraccion.
-So when he sees you picking fights with Nnoitra or getting angry by what Grimmjow had said about you he would just think of you as an idiot.
-And oftentimes will pull you away from any confrontation. Which, he isn’t happy about it at all.
-And of course, he would verbally scold you for being like this.
-This would lead you to roll your eyes and give a sarcastic remark to him. Which he loathes greatly.
-Though, you are entertained when you can  get a rise out of him, though subtly there are a little details where you notice.
-Such as the clear annoyance in his voice, his fist clenching, scoffing and an eye roll when he is very not pleased.
-You knew his “no feelings” mask was cracking because like it or not - annoyance is still a feeling.
-And the look on his face when you tell him this- was priceless.
-Of course he would try not to show his anger but he can’t help it. You’re just soooo annoying.
- But what made him finally realized your true value was when Aizen said, “If you truly don’t want her to be your fraccion then you are capable enough to kill them.  It’s your choice.”
- Obviously, he hesitated. And that made him do a lot of self-reflecting which means, he alot of distance from you.
-So then he started to think about your worth besides your powers.
-Your quirkiness, how you are good at taking orders,  your over all positive presence makes him feel slight better. Along with your smile.
-You were a great fraccion, but he wouldn’t tell you that to your face.
-So, he decides to keep you alive and to be your fraccion, not knowing he was developing feelings for you.
┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓┏━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━┓
Tumblr media
-With a s/o who is very loud and obnoxious I can expect them to be more dominating.
-Which I think for once Ulquiorra would not mind especially since during the day he is always the sensible and responsible one.
-plus his lack of knowledge with sex and intimacy does not help either.
-So you will basically get a very submissive Ulquiorra in the long run.
-Which took a bit of time and trust to let you do this because he always thinks of himself as the boss and gives all the demands.
-But once he sees you in his place he definitely values a lot more now than he did before.
-The way you tease him but also praise him makes his head foggy.
-How your light touches and words of comfort when he feels very uncomfortable and vulnerable.
-You remind him that it’s okay to have these feelings and for him to trust you.
- And he does. Though it does take him some time.
-Compliment him and tell him how much of a good boy he is when he does. This makes him even more encouraged to let everything and get into his headspace.

Hi, in the lieu of the lastest chapter of MHA I want to do a post bc ...I almost fall on the mistake to respond the izu hate vitrol
Tumblr media
To all the stans of shig and LoV, please, if you have to hate a person for what befall on Shig ...hate Afo or hori (NO DEATH THREATS! HE IS NOT IMMUNE TO CRITICISM BUT HATE AND CRITICISM ARENT THE SAME) but not Izu!
Take a wild guess who is blamed for all Shig did? Izuku Midoriya ofc.
Tumblr media
And is bizarre how you lot are ready to jump on the Izu hate when he is, canonically, the only one who wanted to save shig...who btw doesn't deserve an ounce of consideration from Izu. Shig is undeveloped (to be fair, Izu is too. But if you guys call him deku knowing it means useless, then please let's all call Shig the dark deku bc he is a broken doll who can only destroy)
Shiga has show, canonically, he doesn't value any life. He is a terrible leader, he is immature and knew afo was manipulating him and went along (guys all I cited here is pure canon)
I talked to @bibibbon about this and like what would even be Shig's plan here? He knew afo was manipulating him....so he was waiting for an opening ....in the worst time possible?
This legit makes me think of Aizen and Ichimaru from Bleach. To summarize: Ichimaru decided to betray Aizen ....when Aizen was in god form. Poor choice, poor plan indeed
(was Hori copying Tite Kubo? Maybe?)
Also...Shig is hella inconsistent. He hates am bc........
I don't know. He just does.
"Afo groomed him"
Yes and no. Grooming would imply he spend time with shig, and what is showed is how...afo tossed shig aside, communication happened, ofc, but it was via phone or cameras....why?
Actually why afo even has shig as "heir"? The plan since day 1 was to take shig's sexy body? Ok then why toss him aside.
I don't think Afo groomed shig, per se, it was more coaxing him to the worst conclusion....and shig says yes.
At the end of the day, while we can blame afo ... shig's actions are his.
Now onto Izu. Izu who values himself so little ...he went to save Shig bc anyone is worthy saving but him ...and you lot think this is normal or smth to mock Izu. Izu lost his quirk and arms (yes, he got it back) to save a man ...he barely knows. Everyone wanted to kill him and they are right. Gran Torino is right here and yet...Izu tried....but Shig failed himself.
"I'm destruction" He says.
Izu tried to save a monster.
And the monster choose death.
The only plotline Hori gave to Izu ....and he failed. Please be mad at the author for his abysmal incompetency here. The moment shig accepted afo he was extra doomed.
Abd even if in the next chapter Shig is brought back....what good this will give? He will rot in prison.
"this is Izu's fault" no. He is so innocent here it's ridiculous.
(wanted to post here the "how many times do we have to teach this lesson old man" from Bob sponge bc is a meme that fits Izu perfectly )
Shiga is the one to fail himself.
Shiga is TENKO...but he is not that cute kid anymore.
And "change society" no one in class A1 or Izu had the mind to make commentary about society bc well...society would stop existing thanks to Shig and LoV.
Do I need to say again? Izu is innocent here.
"he looks cold at shig" my guy, they are strangers...not long lost brothers (or lovers but we have fics for that) they are strangers and ...considering all unnecessary shit shig did...izu was being way kinder.

Differences in Zanpakuto
Tumblr media
I've been on a Bleach kick thanks to the Klub Outside facts I've been learning. Some of the things Kubo reveals on that website of his is incredibly interesting. (some other things are just funny)
But one about Arrancar's and their Zanpakuto got me thinking so I thought it'd be fun to give a very brief rundown of the types of Zanpakuto used by Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Vizards.
Despite appearances there is a stark difference between them and how they function.
Tumblr media
The Asauchi & the Soul Reapers
We learned a lot about how these Zanpakuto worked in the final arc of Bleach years ago and now so too have the anime-only fans thanks to the 'Thousand Year Blood War' anime.
As explained by Nimaya Oetsu, creator of the Zanpakutos, all Soul Reaper Zanpakuto's begin as an Asauchi. (Shallow Hilt)
Oetsu forges these Asauchi from the souls of Reapers and every Shinōreijutsuin student or rookie Soul Reaper are given one. And before you ask, yes, "Shinōreijutsuin" is the name of a Soul Reaper school.
All Asauchi are nameless with a standard katana form and two general abilities;
The "Soul Burial" which sends ghosts to the Soul Society.
And Hollow purification which turns them back into a soul.
What turns an Asauchi into a Zanpakuto is nothing more than time and training. As they train with and use the sword their soul will imprint upon it and turn it into a true Zanpakuto.
From here it just opens up into a variety of unique Zanpakuto and exceptions to the rules such as "dual blade types" or "ancestral" Zanpakuto which you'll see toward the end of the TYBW anime.
Tumblr media
The Hollow's Zanpkauto
Despite the parallels between Arrancar and Soul Reapers their Zanpakuto actually originate and work rather differently. This process was further refined and paralleled to the Soul Reapers after Aizen began to alter existing Arrancar and mas produce new ones with his Hogyoku.
The first key difference is origin. When an Arrancar is born they rip off their mask and their spiritual powers as a hollow are then sealed inside a sword.
And according to Kubo on his 'Klub Outside' site the actual sword itself is formed from the pieces of the mask they tore away:
Tumblr media
This is rather interesting to me due to what Ginjo said about a hollow's mask in the Fullbring Arc. According to him the mask is formed from the "heart" the hollow lost which leaves the hole on their body.
For an Arrancar to form their Zanpakuto from their mask, knowing this, feels a little poetic. They're wearing their hearts on their waist.
Other notable differences between an Arrancar & Soul Reaper's Zanpkauto include:
The Arrancar's Zanpakuto have no personality or spirit.
As far as we know, they do not have the 'Soul Burial' and "hollow purification" abilities.
Most Arrancar only have one release known as a "Resurreccion" but they can develop a second release known as "Segunda Etapa".
There are a few smaller details but I'll let you discover those on your own~
Tumblr media
Vizards & Resurreccion
Now the Vizards are a bit unique here because they begin life as Soul Reapers and so their Zanpakuto's are just that, the Zanpakuto of a Soul Reaper.
However, Kaname Tosen showed that it's possible for Vizards to develop a Resurreccion. It is easy to assume that was unique to Tosen due to him being Aizen's subordinate but Kubo confirmed otherwise.
Tumblr media
Of course, this is a hypothetical. The Vizards would have to put in the work to use their masks during Bankai or awaken a Resurreccion like the Arrancar.
Tumblr media
Edit::::::::::::::::::
Recently learned that the Zanpakuto of the Soul Reapers are actually recycled. In the rare case they retire or (I presume) just die peacefully their Zanpakuto is stored before Oetsu reforges it ack into an Asauchi.
Now this doesn't necessarily constitute as a "type" of Zanpakuto but it is relevant enough for me to edit into both Parts 1 & 2 of these three part posts I've made.
More in part because it means that a Zanpakuto can be turned back into an Asauchi. This may be the core reason that Oetsu could reforge Ichigo and Renji's Zanpakuto.
Although, I would argue there's likely a difference between reforging a Zanpakuto and reforging it back into an Asauchi. Why? Because Asauchi have no defined spirit, they're blank.
Somehow Oetsu wipes away the Zanpakuto's sentience.
Tumblr media
And We're Done
Technically could go on by adding Ichigo & Zangetsu to this topic but their origin is so convoluted that both the manga and the anime had to dedicate a flashback arc just to explain it.
Although, one thing to take note of here is that Aizen made "White" out of multiple Soul Reaper souls. A process that Oetsu purposely points out as similar to how he forges Asauchi.
Which is a dark parallel to leave this post on. Bye~

Can you write some cute personal headcanons you have for the espadas excluding yammy and barragan
Of course i can! Thank you for requesting! I hope you enjoy!
Personal espada hcs (without yammy and barragan)
Starrk:
He talks in his sleep, the things he mainly talks about are lilynette, how tired he is and his loneliness. Lilynette sometimes teases his about this (except for when his rambling is sad)
He steals pillows and blankets from the world of the living. He just finds them so soft so he takes them
He enjoys hot cocoa, he tried it once in the human realm out of curiosity and loved it
Harribel:
She knows who to sew and teaches her fraccion how to as well. She once sewed a blanket for starrk who was extremely grateful
Shes cares a lot about the safety of her fraccion and would do anything to protect them and I mean anything
Shes nice to other fraccion as well, this has lead to her being extremely popular within the fraccion and most of them saying that if they weren't serving their current espada they'd go to her except for tesla who's scared nnoitra might kill him if he says that
Ulquiorra:
Despite his monotone appearance and personality he's actually really ticklish, grimmjow found this out after accidently poking him in the side and ulquiorra threatened him to keep quiet grimmjow told nnoitra and yammy
He actually doesn't enjoy aizens tea, its too strong for him but he pretends it doesn't bother him everyone knows
He's actually somewhat nice to wonderweiss, he'll let him follow him for around 15 minutes before getting annoyed and telling wonderweiss to go away
Nnoitra:
Actually doesn't treat tesla that bad, he cares for his fraccion but he won't ever tell him that or make it obvious
He once found a stray cat in the human realm and took it back to hueco mundo, it took 5 minutes for him to kill it out of annoyance it was supposed to annoy grimmjow but he couldn't find him and got bored of searching
Actually likes aizens tea, he wont ever admit it tho and if you even suggest that he does then he'll kill you
Grimmjow:
Treats his fraccion like brothers who annoy him, especially di roy who he treats exactly like an annoying little brother
Feels a little bad for the granz brothers hating each other, this is only because he thinks its making yylfordt weak
Goes to the human world just to chill, he actually kind of likes it there and ever since he discovered bars and wrestling it was hard to get him back to hueco mundo
Zommari:
The only espada who actually tries to talk to and befriend aaroniero, he's tried to get the 9th espada to mediate with him but it always ends in rejection, he wont stop trying tho
Went to the human world and had a custom made poster of aizen with the quote 'do it for lord aizen'
Is nice to szayelaporro's fraccion, he knows how the mad scientist treats them and he pities them
Szayelaporro:
Doesn't hate his brother as much as he says he does, he does it as to not look weak in front of others
Like ulquiorra he also doesn't like aizens tea but instead of pretending to like it he brings his own special ingredient to put in it nobody knows what it is
Gets along with gin well, the two tend to talk about random stuff it's mostly gin asking questions about arrancars and Szayelaporro jokes about how gin must be making some kind of arrancar encyclopedia
He has an outfit for every occasion
Aaroniero:
Has secretly always wanted a fraccion but is too scared to actually get one
He's scared of wonderweiss but at the same time he doesn't completely hate him, he'll let the odd arrancar hang around him for a bit
Actually enjoys espada meetings since its the only time this many arrancars are near him without being outwardly disgusted by him

Can I ask you some headcanon about the captains (+Unohana if you can >.<) having a S/O who's like Unohana Retsu ? (I mean the personality 😅)
I think that would be very interesting... 😶
Ohhhhh, I love this! <3
Tumblr media
Jushiro Ukitake: He doesn't mind at all, he loves you either way. It's nice for Jushiro to have a quiet partner who's very sweet and kind. He knows how powerful you are though, so he never makes you mad bc it doesn't want to face your wrath.
Shunsui Kyoraku: I feel like he might be a little creeped out at first, but he gets used to you being super quiet. You definitely scare Shunsui a lot because you're so stealthy and quite literally appear out of nowhere.
He appreciates how gentle you are though, he loves it when he comes home from a long day and you're there with opens arms.
Tōshirō Hitsugaya: Since you're pretty much the opposite of him, your relationship is perfect. You always warn Toshiro when to be nice and he tries his best for you.
There are definitely times when you two bicker over situations, but other than that, you love each other deeply.
Byakuya Kuchiki: PERFECT MATCH. I mean, if Hisana 2.0 were to be born, you were her. Of course, Byakuya doesn't even try and compare the two of you, but you're so alike to her.
He's so in love with you that he follows you along like a lost little puppy.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi: Man tries to study you like a science experiment and says he's trying to figure out what's wrong with you. In reality, there is nothing wrong with you, but he has a desperate need to know why you like him.
Shinji Hirako: Boy, does he tease you 24/7. Since you're on the shy side, Shinji loves to tease you, but he definitely will back off if your eyes darken. He knows that at times you can become scary and he backs off, stopping his annoying teasing.
Unohana: She loves it, lol! You're because the same person, so it's very easier for the two of you to get along. You spend a lot of times together, relaxing or learning new medicine herbs. The two of you prefer to spend time together in silence.
Kenpachi Zaraki: He asks why you're so quiet all the time seeing as how he's very loud 24/7. He questions why you're with him because you're just so different.
You tell him you wouldn't want anyone else to be your lover.
Aizen Sosuke: Your relationship is interesting and puzzling, especially to others. You're both on the quiet side, so there's no questioning there. Aizen can be blunt and quite serious at times, which has people questioning your relationship.
You're sweet and kind, always being nice to others unlike him at times.
Sajin Komamura: He definitely appreciates you. You're so kind and you would never judge him for who he is. Sajin loves that you can listen to him for hours talk about how he's feeling. You're always there to comfort him.
Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi: He loves your personality, especially because you will sit there for hours and listen to him playing the guitar. He doesn't mind as your eyes are focused on his hand strumming the thick strings.
He appreciates the tender, quiet moments with you.
Soi- Fong: You're quite the opposite of her. You don't like to fight or be violent, but she does. It takes a while for you two to agree on things to do, both of you being happy.
As opposite as the two of you, you both hold a special love for each other.

Hello. Its been a while since i saw that giant aizen requests in some bleach fan page i want hear your thought about this (MAN that's the craziest thing EVER but also its fun😅)
There is a community called G/T(means giant/tiny its sfw and it can have fearplay or fluff or even both)
i think imagining aizen in this case will be anyone's nightmare but still cool😏😁
Tumblr media
Giant Aizen Sosuke and how his condition would affect his relationship with his significant other.
Starring: Aizen Sosuke x f!reader;
Format: head canons;
Warnings: fluff, some fear play and Aizen being the absolute menace he has always been;
Plot: If Aizen Sosuke was a giant, what would happen to his relationship with his significant other? Would his behavior change overall? What could happen to the world? Would his condition be detrimental to his plans?
Author note: It is rather rare for me to put the ‘author note’ on the top of my works, but since I am unfamiliar with this field and community, I felt like apologizing ahead of time if I have not centered the topic. I did not plan to write this request now, I have already written down a list of works with ‘TOP PRIORITY’ to take care of, but when the right inspiration for something strikes me… Well, guys, you know me. I have to write down whatever crosses my mind. As per usual, feedback is greatly appreciated, especially from people who might have experience with this scenario!
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
• Aizen Sosuke is already a menace with his standard height. Now, if he was a giant, what do you think would happen? Oh, guys, world domination is coming. Nothing could ever stop this man from achieving his goals and I believe his condition would make it actually easier for him to literally squash down onto the concrete his opponents, seeing them as nothing but ants.
• Destroying things and enemies with a snap of his fingers became an hobby for him. He did not even had to wield his sword, most of the times. Thus made his confidence boost, naturally.
• Albeit he constantly needs to calibrate his strength, or else he is going to demolish everything around him, Sosuke mantains his grace and he does not need to put much effort into reducing the impacts of his limbs on his surroundings. It comes natural to him.
• Expect a lot of sassy comebacks from him, when Yamamoto or Ichigo try to slash at him. A shit-eating grin plastered over his face, he would literally swat them away like flies. Amusement rather than annoyance filling his eyes.
• “Midges are truly pests, don’t you agree, darling?”.
• Obviously, he actually becomes the Soul King and haa no qualms about anyone, but you. Always by his side, nestled into his pocket, he never leaves you alone. He can not risk his enemies hurting you, his most precious thing. Wherever he goes, you follow him. Maybe it would be more appropriate saying he would ‘carry you’ with him. Literally.
• This giant villain would give you the moon, if you wanted it. There is nothing he could not provide you with in his regular form. Just imagine whatn he would be able to do if he was a giant. He could literally eradicate the Eiffel Tower from Paris to give it to you. Your wish is his command.
• I believe he would be a little scared of hurting you. Stroking your cheeks and hair was not that easy what just his finger could break your spine. Sosuke was extra careful in touching you, but this would not be much of a problems. Years of experience helped him to adapt himself to the situation. There are times, though, when he would love nothing more than to hold you in his arms, nose buried into the crook of his neck. While it could be impossible to ever be involved into a tight embrace, Sosuke would work day and night for a solution: making you a giant too would solve a lot of problems after all.
• While you were frankly scared as Hell at the thought of going through such an invasive practice, forcing your body to transform into a larger one, challenging biology and human limits, he was a smooth talker and he persuaded you to let him try to turn you into a giant. He was a brilliant man, after all, he knew what he was doing. Also, the incentive of finally experiencing his hugs was enough to make you agree with his plan.
• Sosuke is not a man keen to lose control. Yet, when he does, his shouts literally make the ground shake and your body tremble in fear. You knew he would have never hurt you, but you feared his rage. His power, his reiatsu were amplified and all you could do not to evaporate, victim of a tragic and collateral damage, was running away as fast as you could, looking for shelter somewhere in your Fortress.
• “I will miss the tiny version of you. There is something endearing in having such a deep connection with you, a fragile being, that almost made me desist from committing atrocities” he whispered once, while holding you in the palm of his hand.
• While everybody feared him, you did not. Loving him came natural to you, his edges never scared you, not even a bit. How could you be scared when someone as powerful and cruel as him watched over you when you were asleep and got rid of anything that generated fears and insecurities in you?
AUTHOR NOTE.
Hello there! Geez, I hope that was not that bad! In that case, forgive me.
Until next,

Nobody asked, but here are my rambling thoughts about Bleach’s Aizen Sousuke
Aizen Sousuke. The man, the myth, the legend. The villain who ~allegedly~ planned out so much of Bleach’s storyline that the fact that that is a meme is, in itself, a meme. And also probably part of Aizen’s plan.
I’m fascinated by this character, to say the least. I mean, why else would I be writing an Aizen/OC fanfiction on both AO3 and FF.net? (Shameless plug. Sorry not sorry.) Despite my many thoughts - so numerous are they that anytime I reply to a comment on “Mono no Aware,” I wind up with a graduate dissertation - I’m not entirely sure where to start with this guy. He’s complex in some ways, yet simple in others, fitting neatly into some psychological molds until you come across that one trait or act that makes you question your whole thesis. Fitting, really.
I don’t think there is one definitive, absolute answer for who Aizen Sousuke is. Even Kubo’s own idea of him isn’t necessarily the only one - once an artist puts their creation out into the world, that creation is open to interpretation by others. Again, rather fitting that we’re talking about a character whose entire power is based on the ideas of suggestion and perception.
It’s fun to explore various facets and ways to interpret a character though, so today I’d like to look at a few: psychology (Aizen the Sociopath), mythology (Aizen the Trickster), reality(I guess…) (Aizen the Opportunist), and philosophy (Aizen the Ubermensch).
So let’s start with psychology.
Aizen the Sociopath
Antisocial personality disorder, commonly/colloquially referred as “sociopathy,” is defined as “a mental health condition in which a person consistently shows no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others.” (Mayo Clinic) For the sake of simplicity, I will be using the terms “sociopathy” and “sociopath” here. It’s one of four cluster-B personality disorders within the DSM-V (Diagnositc and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders, 5th Edition - the most recent one as of 2023), along with narcissistic, borderline, and histrionic personality disorders. In other words, it is clinically recognized as a mental health condition by the psychology field, and it’s one of a family of personality disorders characterized as having “a consistently dysfunctional pattern of dramatic, overly emotional thinking or unpredictable behavior.” (Considering who we’re talking about…this is kind of surprising, honestly.
To paraphrase the Mayo Clinic’s list of symptoms, sociopaths…
ignore (or have little/no concept of) right and wrong
often lie, steal, use false names, and/or engage in cons
use charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain
have an inflated sense of superiority and are extremely opinionated
often violate others’ rights and feel little/no remorse for how their behavior negatively affects others
Keep in mind that for a person to be considered a “sociopath,” one must consistently and repeatedly show these traits. Not every mean person is a sociopath, and not all sociopaths are mean (…all the time). Probably the most consistent descriptors I’ve come across for sociopaths are “manipulative” and “callous” - again, they’ll say/do anything to get what they want, and they have no remorse over whether it harms other people.
So…is Aizen a sociopath? And why should we care?
Setting aside the fact that Aizen is a fictional character, and fictional characters are often meant to be simpler than complex, ever-evolving human beings…I’m of the camp that yes, he is. It certainly explains a LOT of his behavior and actions; even the fact that he seems to have no “true” personality fits this mold. Partly because of how Kubo writes him, we can never be certain that anything Aizen says or does is “genuine,” or if he’s just trolling.
Why we should care if he’s a sociopath or not: Eh. Aside from the fun of armchair-diagnosing fictional characters, this gives us a framework within which to work. It gives us consistent traits that help us understand Aizen as a character. It’s sort of like a character sheet or profile: an easily referenced list of traits and tendencies.
However, even if we could truly diagnose Aizen with something, I don’t think that diagnosis would completely define his character. Far from it. Because this is fiction, every major character usually serves a particular purpose for the narrative that influences how they act and how they affect the characters around them. So let’s look at what I believe Aizen’s role is in the Bleach ‘verse.
Aizen the Trickster
A “trickster,” in terms of mythology and folklore, is “a character in a story…who exhibits a great degree of intellect or secret knowledge and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules and defy conventional behavior.” (Thank you, Wikipedia.) Classic examples of tricksters are Loki from Norse mythology; Anansi the spider from West African folklore; and Coyote from many Native American cultures, particularly groups in California and the Great Basin. Even Greek mythology’s Hermes and, at times, Norse mythology’s Odin act as tricksters, using their intellect to deceive others or defy conventions. Tricksters can be villainess or heroic, depending on the tale and their role in it. Consider Odysseus in the Illiad and Odyssey: in both tales (but especially in the latter), he is cast as a hero, but most of his actions are devious and even reprehensible.
I see Aizen as being a trickster in the Bleach ‘verse in many ways:
He’s highly intelligent and possesses “secret knowledge” (ie: truth of the Soul King…but more on that in a bit)
He seeks to defy convention and push all types of boundaries, from combining/transcending Shinigami and Hollow powers (physical boundaries) to being a Shinigami who commands Hollows (societal boundaries)
He openly questions, disrupts, and mocks authority (Even when he was playing the Nice Captain, he was one of the only people to openly question Rukia’s execution…granted, it was All Part of the Plan(TM), but I still find it interesting that he allowed that to be a part of his character at that time)
He enjoys trolling people and making them question their own beliefs and perceptions. Not even just because it’ll benefit him; I think he honestly enjoys throwing people mentally off-balance.
I mean…he openly says it during the TYBW:
Tumblr media
Sure, you might say that Aizen’s goal was to kill the Soul King (…I have thoughts about that too), but THIS is the reason for that goal. If it wasn’t the Soul King, it would be whatever other being tried to reign over him. Yhwach, Ichibe, whoever else…Aizen would not tolerate anyone having authority over him. This fits with the Trickster archetype because, at their cores, this is what tricksters do: they challenge authority.
It’s also worth noting that in most Trickster stories, especially ones where the trickster plays the antagonist, the trickster doesn’t exactly “win.” Often, they’re foiled or humiliated in some way, sometimes due to their own hubris; I mean, Loki wound up being tied up with a snake dripping poison into his eyes because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut about having orchestrated the death of one of Odin’s sons. This is also something we see in Aizen’s role in Bleach: At the pinnacle of his power, he is defeated - not only by the hero of the story, but also by another possible “trickster” type (Urahara) and by his own arrogance and, possibly, not knowing his own deepest desires.
Btw - for an interesting take on Aizen “not knowing himself,” check out this video by Nux Taku: Anime’s Most Relatable Overpowered Sociopath - Aizen from Bleach
“Defeated” doesn’t necessarily mean he didn’t win, though. In my opinion, Aizen is, above all, a master opportunist who will turn ANY situation in his favor.
“All according to keikaku:” Aizen the Opportunist
Aizen definitely fits a classic “mastermind” mold, no arguments here. But I think people take the meme-worthy “it was all part of my plan” thing a little too far with him. Aside from the tendency of sociopaths and tricksters alike toward self-aggrandizing, and the fact that it benefits Aizen to be perceived as omniscient, let’s be real: He didn’t plan everything out himself from the start. To be honest, the idea that a “mastermind” necessarily sees all possibilities 100 steps ahead is…a bit much. Rather, masterminds like Aizen who play the long game are excellent opportunists.
Just look at how Aizen acts during “Everything But the Rain”: As far as Tousen was concerned, the Hollow “White” was a failure because instead of going after the powerful Shinigami captain, it attacked a Quincy - the one creature in the area that couldn’t be Hollowfied. But to Aizen, this wasn’t a failure: it was an unforeseen turn of events that presented an unprecedented opportunity to study the congruence of two diametrically opposed beings. After all, his whole schtick is about transcending the boundaries between species; of course he’d be curious to see if there was a way for a Quincy and a Hollow to mix without destroying each other. Plus, I’m willing to bet that Aizen at least suspected that this phenomenon might draw Urahara out of hiding, which would give Aizen his location (and thus the location of the other Hogyoku). The fact that Masaki survives with White’s Hollow energy inside of her, AND that she, a Quincy, and Isshin, a Shinigami, fall in love and have a kid…that’s all a bonus that he later works into his plans.
TL;DR: Aizen had plans for White, but when those plans fell through, he turned the situation into a new part of his plan. It all worked toward his ultimate goals in the end. THAT is what makes him such a formidable mastermind: he’ll take any opportunity that comes his way.
Aizen the Übermensch
Okay, I’ll admit I’m gonna be a little lazy here and point y’all to a wonderful analysis video by DBZimran that goes into this topic. The gist is that Aizen embodies the Nietzsche idea of the “Ubermensch,” or “super man” (from before the N*zis appropriated the concept), and that Urahara is the opposing “last man.” It’s really interesting stuff, and DBZimran explains it way better than I feel equipped to right now.

While you’re there, check out his other videos about Bleach. I took a lot of inspiration from his analysis of the Hogyoku when writing Mono no Aware, to be honest.
Other interesting takes on Aizen
I can’t get enough of this man, and if you’ve made it this far in this ridiculous long post, I’m guessing you can’t, either. I’m definitely open to writing more about him, answering prompts, giving headcanons…just ask! Here are some other people I like to reference for Aizen and Bleach content in general:

[Bleach 080]
Another line I think about all the time and have nothing substantial for!
Hinamori asks Renji if he hasn't seen うちの藍染隊長 (uchi no Aizen-taichou). It's similar to the way Matsumoto referenced her captain, except Matsumoto just said うちの隊長さん (uchi no taichou-san), her captain generally, and Hinamori specifically names Aizen. Grammatically literally, she asks, "Have(n't) you seen my Captain Aizen?"
This sounds a little nutballs in English. There's an excess to it? Like, either "my captain" or "Captain Aizen" alone seems like it would suffice, but instead we get the double whammy of "my Captain Aizen," as opposed to, you know, the other Captain Aizen who is not Hinamori's captain. We know that unlike Matsumoto's captain, Renji would definitely know who Hinamori's captain is, because Aizen was formerly his captain. Maybe Hinamori is clarifying the relationship for us, the reader. But why would she? She can't see us! XDD
I don't know how this construction comes across in Japanese, but I so wish I did. You don't usually need to specify subjects/possessives that can be inferred through context in Japanese. Like, instead of saying 私のスマホ (watashi no sumaho/my smartphone), I think you would probably just say "smartphone" provided it was obvious from context you were talking about yours. Given that, you'd think Hinamori's phrasing would feel as excessive as it does in English, if not moreso, because *I* think it's obvious from context that "Captain Aizen" would be Hinamori's captain. But I would also not be surprised if this is just a normal construction people use and this is how appositives work. I tried to look up [pronoun]の[name], but didn't really get anything. I know you can say things like 友達の雛森 (tomodachi no Hinamori/[my] friend Hinamori), but that's not the same thing, to my mind, because it's naming the relationship and is itself an example of dropping the implied possessive pronoun.
The only additional example that I can bring to mind is Inuyasha sometimes referring to Kikyou as オレの桔梗 (ore no Kikyou/my Kikyou), but that is... neither an example of normal speech nor an example of someone being normal about a relationship. XDD
tld;r I do think it makes both contextual and grammatical sense to translate the line as "Have you seen my [captain,] Captain Aizen?" But like I also...wonder? On the next page, we do see her in tears over her worry about Aizen acting weird all morning; There's A Lot of Emotions in This Hallway.

Hi! I want to start off with saying I love your blog and it was this blog that introduced me to a new side of the Bleach fandom, so I owe you a huge thanks for that. My question pretains to when you mentioned that you read a lot of fics where Byakuya was there when his father died in the lines of duty, and I was wondering if you could recommend those fics and any other byakuya centric ones.
You're very welcome! I am always excited see new people in the fandom, especially here on Tumblr.
I want to preface this with saying that I have kind of a complicated relationship with Byakuya. He is an interesting, complex character and I like to read fanfic about him, but I hesitate to call myself a fan. I'm mostly interested in his character as it stands in relation to Rukia and Renji. I like stories where he is shitty and causes problems. I like reading about the long, horrible history of the Kuchiki clan, and how much it screws a person up to be raised in that mess. I also just like stories that make fun of him a bit. He's a deeply strange person, and I love his weird, dry sense of humor. Byakuya-shipping usually falls flat for me: I think he's mostly ace, except for the time he fell in love with his wife, and even then, I only really like Byahisa stories where the author has done something creative with who she is and I also need her to drag his ass a little. I would swipe left on him. So, anyway, take these recommendations (and the absence of ones I have missed) with that grain of salt.
The fanfic I was specifically referring to regarding Soujun dying after a mission he and Byakuya were on together was the Rise & Ruin series by @afinepiece, specifically part 2, An Education. It's a...little-bit-AUish precanon fic where Hisana is a thief who ends up getting tangled up in the Kuchiki family after she attempts to steal a painting from them. If you're looking for Byakuya fanfic, AFP is always going to be my first recommendation, especially her Thin Red Line series. Her works are always sprawling and genre-defying, but beautifully crafted. They've got noble/family drama, intricate world-building detail, and great character writing. The Kuchiki family deserves epics, and that is what AFP is out here doing.
Funnily enough, my other favorite ByaHisa writer is all the way at the other end of the writing spectrum. @thegreenfaery. She works in the AU space, and if you enjoy Byakuya Going Thru It but also being in love with his beautiful wife. I'm biased, because she wrote it for me, but The Wedding Party is my fave of her works (80's/everyone's human AU where Hisana has to rent out part of Byakuya's house for her little sister's dirtbag wedding).
If you like Byakuya in his gothic horror era, please read dogviolet by @renjirukia. It's a closer examination of some canon between-scenes during Byakuya and Rukia's Bad Times period.
I think @lucymonster is one of the best Byakuya character writers out there, and Metaesthesia is one of the best fanfics I've ever read. It's a Byakuya - Renji bodyswap, but not in a fun way. You should really only read it if you're in the mood to have your heart kicked down the stairs. I also really like Sticks and Stones and Building Bridges. Note: Most of her works are ByaRen (these are not, at least not explicitly). That's not a ship I am normally fond of, but I get, like 3 weird days a year where I can read it.
Speaking of ByaRen, if you are into it, the other ByaRen writer I like a lot is @grizmelder, who is also a very nice person. I particularly enjoyed Heart Tangled, which is a historical AU set at the end of the samurai era, where Renji is Byakuya's bodyguard.
I was just talking about Lull the other day, but it's a lovely little fanfic by Branch about the relationship between Byakuya and Rukia and sometimes Renji. It's an older fanfic and breaks off from canon after the Soul Society arc, so you can think of it as sort of an alternate idea for how Soul Society rebuilds after Aizen's betrayal.
The Journal of Kuchiki Byakuya by @saranel is a great little fic in the form of young Byakuya writing diary entries about his life, in particular, his dealings with Yoruichi and Urahara. It's really cute in general, but in particular, I love the way it portrays Byakuya's interest in photography.
I also have a soft spot for Breaking to Bridle by Vivienne Grainger, which is about how Byakuya sees Renji, both as lieutenant and eventually as suitor for his sister.
I guess I would be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite crack Byakuya fic, which is Become a Ghost by @hardlyfatal. Orihime dies and goes to Soul Society and becomes a therapist and falls in love with Byakuya. It's pretty silly but also a lot of fun, and it's chock full of Byakuya being Byakuya.
I hope you find something you like in there! Like I said, I am not the world's best Byakuya fan (probably in the top ten worst Byakuya fans tbh) but these are some that I have enjoyed and have stuck with me!
