Tbh Vanny's old/cut lines aren't only better cause she says more and has more personality in them, but imo also cause they just SOUND better

Like- her having the more ghostly, echoing voice, the creepy giggles that almost remind me of Golden Freddy's laugh- it's just SO much more creepy and hearing her laugh echo around the area while she's chasing you could've been spine chilling.

It would've been so eerie and cool,, and just overall better than the glitchy "are you having fun yet" voice we got

I've seen some OMORI fans talk about the "Sunny and Mari's parents were abusive" fanon and this discussion really fascinates me because like. They were certainly not abusive in the game proper because the story doesn't care about Sunny's family enough to elaborate on what kind of people his mom and dad were. I can also agree that a LOT of stories tend to make the main characters' parents abusive as a quick and convenient way to explain their issues, so it's an overused cliche by now.

At the same time, however, as overused as it may be, abusive parents still are quite a solid reason for a kid to end up with significant mental issues. And what OMORI's story lacks is just that - a solid reason why Sunny and Mari were the way they were. Trust me, you don't grow up with low self-esteem or into an overly uptight perfectionist by eating watermelon on the beach, building a treehouse and partying at your besties' birthdays lmao

Barnacles is an EXTREMELY powerful waterbender from the North Pole, with a strong love for icebending—he defaults to it most of the time. He can use all subforms of waterbending, but they're a bit harder.

Kwazii's the Avatar, but he's still a pirate AND he's a natural firebender, so he still has that "scary and dangerous" reputation. He's afraid of using his firebending, because he hates it. Barnacles is teaching him waterbending, and he's pretty good at it. So far he sucks at earthbending, and his airbending is okay, but if he gets worked up it can accidentally come out as fire... which, yeah.

Peso is an airbender, and the first one in his family. He's not very skilled at bending, and he can't fly very well, and sometimes wishes he was a waterbender, like Barnacles. That way he'd be "stronger", and could utilize its healing abilities. He has an epiphany later on in the middle of S3 that makes him realize how powerful he really is, and he learns to fly :)

Tweak is an earthbender, which she inherited from her dad (maybe*). Like Barnacles, she has a love and preference for a specific subtype—in her case it's metalbending. She's very good at it. It's how she builds GUPs so fast.

Shellington is a waterbender. He doesn't use it very much, mainly because he's Not Great at controlling it—so you'll either end up getting lightly spit on or completely drenched in a tsunami by accident.

Dashi is a non-bender (with water tribe ancestry), which puts her at a disadvantage during some missions. However! She has all of her skills from the Canon Universe, plus the extra adaptiveness seen in non-benders in ATLA (Sokka, Suki, etc).

Inkling is also a non-bender, but he has studied the elements and different bending techniques his whole life. He's Kwazii's Monk Gyatso but with less dying.

Calico Jack is Kwazii's Uncle Iroh. I needn't explain further. His main goal is to teach Kwazii to be less afraid of his firebending.

Natquik is a waterbender, who taught Barnacles everything he knows. He got his penchant for icebending from him. He pretty much invented it. He survived Antarctica by ✨ Becoming One With The Ice™ ✨. He doesn't just study icequakes, he can make them. He can probably spiritbend.

*I'm TORN between making Marsh be an earthbender or a waterbender. If he's an earthbender, then he can't metalbend like Tweak can, but he's still very strong. Like, scarily strong 👀. IF HE'S A WATERBENDER, then he's a swampbender, full stop.

Tracker is an airbender, mainly because of how he's clearly paralleling Peso's arc in AnB. He was the only airbender in his Polar Scouts troop, and he got picked on for it a bit—but Barnacles thought it was cool as heck, and that's how they became friends.

Do I need to explain Paani being a waterbender? No I do not. He's probably VERY powerful, but very chillax about it. He successfully freaks out everyone who witnesses him bend every time. He can part the seas like freaking Moses.

Pearl is a waterbender like Shellington; she's not super strong, but she has a LOT more control over it than he does. Peri will be a waterbender as well, but he hasn't unlocked it yet. He's trying very hard because he wants to be like his mum and uncle SO badly.

Min could easily be a bender of any kind and it would make sense, but I kinda wanna say she's a non-bender. Just cuz ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Earthbender Ryla. That's all. It makes it a lot easier to get out of caves when she's stuck. She's very casual about it. So casual, that most people either forget or don't even realize she's a bender until it comes up. Then they're like "oh yeah." as she literally moves mountains.

Airbender Pinto, who has no clue how to control it. Whenever he gets frustrated with himself, he accidentally creates small tornadoes. He can also fly! He likes to brag about it. a lot. mainly to Peso.

Waterbender Koshi, who hasn't discovered that about herself yet. She's in for a fun time when she figures it out. Remember how happy she was when she got her Octowatch? Yeah :) 10x that. I also imagine their family is full of late bloomers, but because of Dashi she has pretty low expectations for herself right now.

Also one last thing: I played the game in Dutch and could've sworn Riju mentioned (during the cutscene where you give her the Thunder Helm) that she has worked hard to gain the respect of the Gerudo as their chief. However, I just rewatched the cutscene in English, and that line doesn't seem to be there? I wonder if this is a translation difference between the Dutch and English, or if I just misremembered. Both are very possible.

Either which way I think it fits with Rima, the old woman in the outskirts of Gerudo Town, mentioning that Riju is a wonderful chief despite her age and that after all this (the Vah Naboris quest), Buliara has to see Riju differently. Riju's diary also mentions that after an accident involving Vah Naboris, Buliara didn't leave her side, and Buliara is consistently shown to be overprotective of Riju in dialogue. In addition, Riju's diary also states that Buliara was the one to tell her that her mother was dead.

All this together seem to point towards Buliara being overprotective of Riju, and Riju chafing under this because she is, of course, a child. Not just a child: a child with leadership duties. Riju wants to be seen and respected as an adult as any child does, amplified by her adult role in society. This is at odds with other people's view on her, which is that of a child. Buliara especially seems to regard her health and safety as her personal duty; she might've been close to Riju's mother and feel a duty towards her, too. Buliara, therefore, leans too hard in the other direction and is overprotective.

The truth is somewhere in the middle of course, with Riju being a kid with kid interests (plushies, most notably), but also a very capable chief deserving of respect. Riju's frustration at being treated like a child is understandable, but treating her as an adult would lead to much bigger problems in the long run. On the other hand, Buliara's worry is also understandable, but she needs to respect Riju's abilities and let go. I think Riju's character does a good job showing a child in an adult role and the issues this would logically cause, while still showing them as competent and capable and deserving of agency. It's a balance many kids games (including other Zelda games) strike well, and I'm happy to see it in BOTW.

As fitting as the ending was, I think I would've loved an alternate scenario where instead of loading the entire pistol into him, Dong soo would've been successful in putting Do young behind the bars again, for life this time, giving us a full circle moment of Do young ending up right where he was at the start of the drama.

i can't take it anymore i gotta make a post about this. why did ace and tegan meet 13?! i mean i loved the interaction and everything but they've already met an evil Master. they're in the same kind of situation they used to be in, which is good in a way because it's a nice parallel! but dyk what'd be better??

Ace and Tegan meeting 12 and Missy and Bill!!!! And Nardole ig? But like Ace and Tegan looking at this 'reformed Master' and they have so many grudges but the Doctor is begging them please, just give her a chance. And plus we could have a whole cool Gallifreyans have funny gender thingy conversation!! As well as this, Ace gets a chance to actually call the Doctor 'Professor' and be correct bc he's like a university lecturer and Bill gets the chance to have that Companion Moment but I think she'd also get along really really well with both of them (all of this to say that I think if 7th Doctor era Ace and 12th Doctor era Bill met, Bill would have a massive crush). But yeah this is really important to me and I think you guys should know this too >:(

i got tagged by @memorycycle and i'm grinning! this 5 things that make me happy was like, helpful to remember :3

1. listening to music and singing to it! especially when it's a song that feels better to sing in the lower range of my voice. easily the best part of driving and it's even more special if i'm not driving. just sitting at home and the activity i'm doing is listening to an albummmm <3

2. celeste! not even just the parts where i finish a cool thing (although those are of course high points) but i loveeeee labbing strats! that's a huge part why i wanna do 100% blindfolded because that's about as big of a strat finding task as i can think up. and seekers are like girls to me, they're such a fun mechanic and i love working on deathless strategies with them

3. manual labor is also something that i genuinely enjoy. it's nice that it comes with a paycheck obviously, but i love my job right now at fed ex! i'm noticeably stronger and have more muscle to show! there's also just something very grounding to me to be able to not have all of my worth placed on my ability to think. like, being brain is nice, but also being able to be reliable for grunt work stuff makes me feel like a person and i like that!

4. i love finding ways that i like to express myself because it's always changing. this is probably just a growing up thing, but as i'm more able to care about what i want and not what i want others to perceive me as, i get happier. so i'm like, less scared of hair on my body. less scared of my voice fluctuating. and on a less trans note, less scared of being honest to say no if something is not the kinda way i'd prefer. oh and in the category of expressing myself, piercings! put them holes in my body :3

5. finally, i love to learn things. even if it's not the most highest of the things that i really care about, it's just so cool to recognize how much knowledge we all hold and even cooler that i get to be the recipient of that smart from someone else's brain! and learning things helps me! it makes my life easier to navigate, it makes my food yummier, it makes other people more interested in me, it makes me feel less small. yay
