Top 5 Stranger Things episodes?

This is in no particular order with my preferences byw

1. Holly Jolly (season 1 episode 3) : this honestly is just an amazing and insane episode though. Like the cinematography of Joyce just trying to connect to Will with the lights. And then you have that cinematography with Holly and seeing the lights flicker in Will’s room while she doesn’t know what’s happening. Also the scene at the party where Steve and Nancy have sex juxtaposed with Barb dying. Then of course the actual boys and El with the moments that they have with one another. And then the iconic ending where the boys and El see the police/hopper drag Will’s body out of the lake. And they realize that their friend is dead (he isn’t but in that moment they see that sooo) which leads to the hugs with Joyce and Jonathan, and Mike and Karen. It’s just sooo good.

2. Dear Billy: this entire episode is just sooo good. Also I may be biased because I love the entire sequence at the end. Also this is where max tells the gang what is actually happening and going on. You have the backstory of Victor and his entire situation which just god the fucking performance in this scene is amazing. Then you have the shoot out scene at the Byers which was just done phenomenally and I fucking love that. Even the Russian part was done well and I especially loved it in this ep. Honestly I think I love this ep because the tension is done perfectly. This entire episode was just tension and tension for everyone no matter where they were. And honestly I just loved it!

3. The Spy: so I am also very biased in the fact that this is when Steve and Dustin’s bond forms. And I just love their bond because it’s sooo beautiful. And honestly there are so many layers that their bond goes through in this one episode and it’s a wonderful journey. And then of course you have the stuff in the lab that is just fucking incredible. It’s just fucking amazing and I love it so fucking much. Honestly I just love this ep and there’s so much to gush about and I don’t want to spend all the time to gush about lol

4. The Lost Sister: okay this one isn’t on everyone’s fav but honestly I fucking love this ep. Honestly it meant so much to el and her character’s development. This was the first time I believe that we got to know about other kids in the lab which honestly I loved. This was also where El got to interact with her mother and her aunt. Which that just always sent chills down my spine and the angst in those scenes. Because god it honestly just fucking hurt but I also loved it. I also loved the nuance in this episode a lot like it was just a perfect balance and I loved the nuance here. And I think the conflict that El went through this episode was way more important than a lot of other internal conflict that they had with El in this show.

5. The Battle of Starcourt: I just love the battle so much. And I think this one is the most bitter sweet for me and honestly I just loved it. Ngl I also just love them just throwing fireworks and dynamite which is just honestly I fucking love this. Honestly I just love the whole ep. It’s just sooo iconic.

This was harder than I thought lol and I honestly was gonna pick ‘the bite’ for season 3 but I only really remember loving that one scene where Robin comes out to Steve and that whole bathroom scene. So I didn’t put it on here lol.

okay I know I know I know it’d be jay shut up hours when I woke up but god it’s bothering me that people are whining about a show that literally scraped by barely on passing the bechdel test, giving time and care to two girls developing a friendship and agency in it that friendship. I was once a small gay kid. Granted, it wasn’t 1980whatever, but been there, done that. Young men, even the gay ones, still experience life through a relative filter of the male gaze. Young gay men are not free of that misogyny. That time for el/max to determine how they see each other, the world, and themselves through their own gaze as young women is so important. Will couldn’t, and shouldn’t, have been involved in that plot. People lump young gay men in with the girls bc of our societal perceptions of femininity and sexuality, but will hasn’t displayed any of those interests in the slightest. people are just like “you’re gay, go shopping with the girls and be happy!!” that’s not how being a terrified young gay man works.

Plus... people are arguing that he has these jealous feelings because of possible feelings for mike. I’m not gonna dispute that. It’s fully possible. But like. How would have he even responded to Max’s mike-hate. Being like: “wow. truly cannot relate.” And it’s really true. All he wanted, wanted painfully badly, was his attention like he used to have it in the past. He didn’t even seem to be cognizant of why he might be desperately seeking that attention from him. Young gay boys cling to the boys/men who are nice to them, who involve them, who care for them. We crave those relationships on some level we don’t even understand. As evidenced by will, clearly still captain of the mike fan club, tossing away one of his favorite interests, completely uninspired by it if it doesn’t involve those guys. He just didn’t belong in those scenes.

I know I know everyone’s just out here to have a good time and some people have the best time by seeing a lot of their fav and will is a lot of people’s fav on this site. I know people just generally wanted more content for will but it’s frustrating that they literally hinted at this coming to accept plot to happen later and people are throwing a fit about how they wanted it now. Will isn’t there yet. Will has utterly distanced himself from love and sexuality for character-based reasons. Of course he’s gonna be more childish than his friends... he lost time in his childhood just being a vessel. This season happened over like... four days. Four days he spent without his mother, at that, and we know how important Joyce will be in will coming to terms with himself. Let things grow. He’s figuring out where he belongs. He just had his epiphany of figuring out that he’s not like his friends, and he doesn’t necessarily always belong with them, and destroyed castle byers. if he went from that to oh hey I’m gay wooooo in four days, that’d be the real insult to his character.

- steve had so graciously brought you and Nancy to school that day

- You sat in the back while Nancy and Steve went over his essay and you heard a loudass engine rip through the parking lot (is it just me or so loud engines annoy anyone else ??)

- Y’all were getting out just as Hargrove pulled up (conveniently) and you and nance stood in awe like “zayummmm girl who is that?”

- Steve was annoyed already

- Now the first time Billy noticed you that would be the Halloween party

- He had heard that “king Steve” was showing up with his gf and her sister and he was immediately interested bc tbh Nancy was a solid 9/10 to him so how bad could her sister be?

- And he ofc had to act like the king asshat that night just to prove he was coming for Steve

- You arrived to the party and finally accepted defeat, you were a sexy cat and you had to own it and nance and Steve were arguing so she also just wanted to get lit

- Lit sisters haha

- But Billy had to make a scene when you guys arrived because he is the biggest drama queen EVER

- he looked you up and down and you rolled your eyes bc you weren’t gonna let him get you like that

- So you and nance went HAM on the alcohol and suddenly you found yourself alone bc Nancy was too extra when she was drunk and your other friends weren’t coherent anymore

- There you were in the corner, watching the party rage on and you just kept downing that alcohol and bill saw that as his golden opportunity

- “What’s a pretty kitty like you doing alone?” He grinned at you

- You could not hold back your cringe “you can do better than that California”

- He knew he was in deep when you came back with that bc unlike most girls at Hawkins you actually had a brain

- So you talked for a solid 10 minutes until you saw your sister run through the house with Steve chasing after her

- You handed Billy your drink and just left him hanging and tbh it was funny after the fact but he didn’t think so

- In school you’d always deal with that dude

- In between classes “Hey Wheeler-“

- “Oops sorry California gotta get to class”

- You weren’t sure if you were really interested in him or if your just liked to make him chase after you but either way it was fun

- One day he caught you while you were waiting for Steve and Nancy after school

- “Hey Wheeler cmon let me take you on a date. Just once?”

- “Ugh fine I guess I could go on one date with you but we can’t tell anyone”

- But that date never rlly came bc that weekend the whole gate incident went down

- Well first tune into Dustin throwing rocks at your window

- “Um Dustin mike isn’t here what do you want?”

- “I know mikes not here you’re the next best thing let’s go”

- “Dustin I have a date tonight let’s not do this rn”

- “Nope Wheeler it’s an emergency we have to go NOW”

- So you made a mental note to call Billy and cancel

- You joined Dustin and Steve (which was only a little awkward since you basically knew he wasn’t your brother in law anymore)

- And then a while later you were in an old bus being attack by adolescent Demogorgons

- Amidst the panic: “ya know Henderson when you said ‘an emergency’ you failed to include the fact that you were housing a BABY DEMOGORGON and he just so happened to molt into a fullblown beast”

- And then Steve had that genius idea to go OUTSIDE and you were right beside him bc he may not be your brother in law anymore but he sure was still your friend

- Miraculously you and Steve made it out with minor injuries (somehow your stumbled and cut your hand on a broken window?)

- So you guys decided to peace out of that place when the monsters were called away

- Now let’s tune into your house

- You had forgotten to call Billy so despite what his dad said about cancelling his date he still headed over but he wanted to tell you in person he had to cancel bc he had to look for max instead :)

- Instead of you answering the door your mom did and Billy finally realized where you got your looks from he was shook

- “I didn’t realize Nancy and y/n had another sister”

- Your mom melted right on that spot

- “I’m their mother” she was heating up

- “No!”

- You would’ve killed your mom if you were there bc she was literally trying to seduce your date and you probs would’ve killed Billy too bc he wasn’t denying her moves

- “You must be here for Nancy” she smiled

- “Nancy? No not my type. I’d say y/n is more my type” and that caught your mom off guard and then bill realized he kinda fucked up bc he remember your ‘no one can know’ rule

- But before he knew it he was inside your kitchen eating your mom’s sugar cookies and getting directions to the Byers house

- So at the Byers house you were reveling in the joy of your lil sis eleven being back and then everyone devised the plan and before you knew it you were sitting in the kitchen with Steve and the kids just waiting

- You had forgotten to cancel your date

- you went into mom /attack mode when you saw Steve get pushed to the ground and when Billy walked in and saw you AND max it was game over

- Billy was already pissed bc he had to find max but now that he found you in a house with Steve Harrington (he knew him and your sister were done-zo so he thought Steve would put the moves on you) AS IF

- And his missing sister ofc

- He didn’t even say a word to you bc he didn’t want to blow your cover so you just let him beat the pulp out of Steve

- Not your best idea

- After max left him KO-d on the floor you contemplated staying with him but you left

- The next time you saw him was a week later and you ripped him a new one

- “You had no right to barge into Joyce’s house like that and kick Steve’s ass! That was in no way fair to him!” He kinda just smiled at you while you yelled at him

- “Do you have anything to say?!”

- “You’re really hot when you’re angry?”

- Needless to say you two didn’t even rlly need to go on any dates you two just clicked

- Opposites attract I guess

- But you two had to be SO low key about your relationship literally nobody could know

- Ofc Tommy caught onto the fact that Billy never slept with literally anybody anymore

- And Nancy noticed how much happier and carefree you’d been

- And mike totally just didn’t mention the fact that he heard you sneak out literally every night

- Every night at 10:20 you’d climb out your window and walk to the end of the street where Billy was waiting for you

- Sometimes you’d go over to the next town and see a midnight showing of a movie

- Or you’d drive down a random dirt road and just sit and talk

- Or sit and “talk” ;)

- You’d go for ice cream or out to eat at a 24hour diner

- And he’d have you home by at least 2 or 3 so you had enough time to shower and sleep a little bit before school

- Overall you were rlly happy and nobody could figure out why

- Like his mom and his dad and their demise

- Why Billy’s such a hardass all the time
