i just know adam romanticized a freezing, whiteout minnesota winter while in the cage because he was just so homesick. he was slowly losing his memories of snow days out of school and building tunnels through the snow as a kid for hours on end. only coming back inside, head to toe drenched, when his mom would call for him that dinner and a hot chocolate was ready. adam would relay these memories to michael in the cage to keep them from being forgotten for good. and then adam and michael are all of a sudden free and michael, who could tell just how much these memories of home meant to adam, takes adam up to minnesota in the middle of january for the true, authentic experience.

and adam is grateful for all of five minutes before he's like, "yeah... so back to cairo next or? maybe cancún?"

You can find so many Adam parallels in SPN. His last name is not Winchester, although technically he is one; while Winchester brothers’ motto is “family doesn’t end in blood”, Adam is the embodiment of “family doesn’t start in blood”. Michael’s pure unconditional romantic and platonic love for him is opposite to Nick’s sick murderous obsession with Lucifer (both being the two sides of the same coin). Adam has a forgiving and kind personality, he believes in being able to save the world even after he and his mother were brutally killed; his father sought revenge for Mary’s murder, destroying the only family he got left in the process. There are so many things that can be compared to Adam’s story arc. Michael’s grief after losing Adam / Dean practically forgetting about Castiel after 15x18? Adam (the son who hates the father) replacing Dean (the son who loves the father) in the Cage? Sam saying him and Eileen came to an agreement / Adam saying the same thing about him and Michael literal minutes after that? Adam had so much importance in the series, and all that being basically unnoticed by the fandom is just unfair.

the flu has made me deranged so here's something Michael is an animal guy. He'll never admit it but one day Adam catches him putting some in-shell peanuts into their shopping cart and is like ????? and Michael does his little standoffish shrug and by the time Adam gets home he is going over every spell Michael has ever told him about trying to remember if peanuts is an ingredient to anything and he's focusing so hard he almost doesn't notice Michael going over to their window where it has like flower box or something and just sprinkles a little bit of the food there and makes a strange click in the back of his throat that carries the echos of an angels true voice. and now Adams like ?!?!?!?!? What the fuck are you summoning ?!?!??! expecting something like a hell hound or horrific creature that responds only to an angel but it's none of that it's a flock of about 8 crows that descend down to the flower box and chirp at Michael in a way that can almost be described as respectfully. Now Adams never been so confused in his entire life but Michael the bastard just tilts his head in the way only angels do and says "I've known these animals longer than Humans have had names for them Adam. They remember me." and then smiles, a little sad and eyes glossy. "I think I've told that to you once before."

one of the best parts about midam imo, other than yk everything about them, is the potential for outsider povs.

like not only do we have two beings in a single body – that on its own is amazing with the potential of people seeing them and going "what" – but one of them is The archangel Michael, who predates both time and space

like. just imagine other people seeing them. at first adam's normal, just another college kid, if he has a few quirks. but once you get to know him, things start to get a little odd.

he starts talking to someone who isnt there under his breath when he thinks you arent there. sometimes he'll look at something that isn't there or something you cant see.

this is starting to sound like a horror movie. oops. but like think of the potential here, both for horror and comedy

concept: when angels are without a vessel and exist in a metaphysical space where their souls take a form (such as the cage, such as hell, such as heaven) they take on the likeness of their true vessel. and so when lucifer is in the cage he looks like sam. and when michael is in the cage he looks like dean.
