I never liked Leon's face model in ID and DI, I wish they would use his face from Damnation. I don't understand why they changed

capcom has never been consistent when it comes to their character designs. that's also why they don't stray too much from outfit choices/colours and hairstyles. otherwise a character can easily be misinterpreted as another imo. example, red is always ada or claire. blue is leon or jill. rebecca is green etc. orange is ashley.

leon has had red, blond, brown and black hair. blue eyes and i think brown??? green? eyes. ada has had brown, green, grey eyes? even now ashley had her iconic amber eyes be switched to a green :| (im not happy about it, i liked her og eye colour better as it was rarer and more unique looking. now ashley looks like any other blonde girl)

leon has kept his hair style and general colour palettes. the only one significantly different was re6 outfit with the red undershirt, as red is not a colour commonly associated with leon. (i like to this it's connected to ada heehee)

to be fair, i think the changes might actually be a good idea in terms of garnering a larger audience. hear me out here.

we have a general idea of what leon looks like. but let's switch the hair colours, okay. now some people love blond leon. and some love dark haired leon. okay now let's tweak some variations of his face. okay some LOVE infinite darkness leon (daddy) and some LOVE babyface re2r leon. and some LOVE damnation leon (daddy) and some LOVE vendetta leon (emo daddy) BUT i have also seen people disliking ALL of these variants of leon.

now the consistent things i've noticed about his face is that he always is depicted with the sharp brow, and he has a very pronounced nose bridge, and the butt chin has been on every modern interpretation of leon since after 2004 (re4) infinite darkness Leon is actually a decent interpretation of re6 leon and damnation leon

in the og timeline, with re4, leon's cheek is cut and has a scar even in re6. because of re4r no longer recreating this cut, we can assume that he will not have a scar in a potential re6r. the scar is also not in any cgi film.

he and ada both share gsw scars in the opposite shoulders, but it's unlikely we will see these. (please let me see them in a movie or game, i am begging you. i want them to kiss each other scars)

i think with so many variations of leon in different companies mind you, since the cgi films are a different production team than the games. it makes sense on why they might have their own versions of leon. at least with the game remakes, we have a more consistent face model for leon. i'll be honest, i am not a fan of re4r leon's face. i like it, it's not my favourite. and that's okay! but here we go now, we've created fun discourse over it lol

my favourite has always been re6 leon. something about his voice (matt mercer) and his design just won me over so much.

also that being said with your original ask, damnation leon is actually one of the more different ones as well. he has a completely different eye colour, same with ada. and the darker hair colour.

and also (allegedly ada was modelled after their voice actors/mocap actors. (for re6) so i want to assume that they did the same for leon/matt mercer/his mocap actor), and i do wonder if they did this for damnation as well.

at least with the remakes it seems they want to be more consistent, which is good. but with capcom's track record, i wouldn't be too sure that they would continue with this route. we might even get a more infinite darkness style face in re6r. who knows. only time will tell lol

People hating on Wesker's new design are about to have my foot up their ass.

i think people just aren’t used to what his face looks like. his outfit is absolutely fire, it’s just that people aren’t used to the slight resemblance to movie wesker. it could also be his voice which is very different than the other voices we’ve heard.

re4 remake wesker has a shorter face, shorter nose, shorter hairline, and softer facial features unlike re5 wesker who has a long face/nose, a longer and more detailed hairline, and very sharp facial features.

i feel like capcom underestimates just how good wesker’s re5 look was. wesker is 44 in re4, so he won’t be looking much different in 4 years besides the kitty cat eyes

not sure if this is just me but he looked different in the cutscenes than him in the model viewer. maybe it’s just the perspective but he really did look super similar to movie wesker in cutscenes when in the model viewer it’s only really a slight resemblance because of how his face is structured.

like he looks WAY different in this cutscene than in the model viewer but maybe i’m just stupid and it’s a perspective type of thing

either way i honestly really love his design. it has both a clear resemblance to movie and re5 wesker that i can really appreciate. i wouldn’t even mind him looking the same for re5. but in a way i can understand why people feel the way they do.

Okay so nobody will care about this but me, but I'm gonna ramble about what I would do if I was in charge of coordinating another Resident Evil chapter for Dead by Daylight, if I could do whatever I wanted with it

New Map: Spencer Mansion Iconic, and not visually like anything else already in DBD. I love RPD as a map and location in general, but I was one of those people who really wanted Spencer Mansion to be the map when RE got added to DBD, so yeah. It'd obviously be a two-floor map, and I'm sure people would unfairly whine about it being confusing just like they did RPD, but to be fair, Spencer Mansion doesn't exist in HD for them to just straight up reuse like RPD was, so surely it'd be scaled a little more appropriately for a game like Dead by Daylight... maybe

New Killer: Alexia Ashford Power: uhhh idk honestly lmao, but something involving insects since that's one of the defining aspects of her and her boss fight. Maybe involve fire somehow too since she also used that. I'll be honest, I don't have a solid gameplay idea here, but Alexia would be my top Killer pick since another female killer is cool to add, her design is cool, and nobody else uses bugs in the Killer roster.

New Survivors: Billy Coen and Steve Burnside Yes, I know, nobody gives a shit about Steve but me lol. But a) this is my fantasy post and b) it'd be weird to have a Code: Veronica Killer but no accompanying Survivor from that game and Claire was already added as a legendary skin (which I'm kinda mad about still because it means I'll never have OG RE2 or Code: Veronica cosmetics for her, grrr). Honestly, I'd give him at least one meme-y type of perk for people to be goofy with because good lord does Steve do some dumb shit in CV (/affectionate), and some kind of perk related to the spoiler thing that happens to him later in the game (if you know, you know).

Billy is there also because he's one of my faves, he rounds out the other previous RE Survivors in DBD having their partner characters (Rebecca doesn't have anyone unless you count Chris, I... guess?), and he's pretty much the only other major "old-style" RE protagonist left not in the game already, and I like to focus on those games more than the later stuff. He could also have some perks related to things memorable from RE0, like the goofy item dropping mechanic; maybe a perk that relates to that or chests somehow. And a teamwork perk (like the Thalita/Renato ones) to tie into the way you played as Billy and Rebecca together.

New Survivor Legendary Skins: Ashley Graham and Luis Serra Navarro Ashley would be a legendary skin for Rebecca, and Luis for Leon. They would obviously be their superior RE4 remake versions. Honestly, I could easily make a case for a whole RE4-centric chapter too (and that would be way more marketable lol), but if not that, then I'd love to see these two as legendaries.

New Killer Legendary Skins: Alfred Ashford and Mr. X Alfred would be a legendary skin for Alexia, and Mr. X for Nemesis. The fact that Mr. X isn't in DBD as a skin yet is nuts to me. Yeah yeah, he doesn't use the tentacle like Nemesis, but nobody really cares so long as they are playing as Mr. X. Meanwhile, Alfred doesn't really fit power-wise for an Alexia skin either, but I just think he's neat :)

New Cosmetics: RE4 Remake sweater dress for Ada RE4 Remake pinstripe suit for Leon RE4 Remake "romantic" outfit for Ashley RE0 leather outfit for Rebecca RE0 suit (the yakuza-looking one) for Billy RE4 (original) look for Luis (for the weirdos who like his old design better lmao)

This would be a larger level change, but I'd also let players toggle Legendary skins to show up on the character select screen. Like, you could set Carlos to show up instead of Leon's portrait if you have him. And as an even bigger change, I'd change how Legendary skins work to let them have their own skins too, so then I could get a Code: Veronica outfit Claire and a Christmas sweater for Carlos :3

an unpopular opinion: very sorry to ada lovers but i find her a bit too plain she is always frigid so i can't bring myself to feel anything towards her be it love or hate

my non-canon otp: the gang and therapy sessions

most badass character: re4 merchant is peak businessman. quality goods. accessible. not picky about his shop location. killer outfit. amicable personality. best accent ever. the drama when he opens his jacket 👌

most epic villain: lady dimitrescu showed up, slayed cunt for 1/4 of the game, ate men, grew into a dragon-esque thing and left. also she is confirmed to be a lesbian you just don't get a better villain.

favourite friendship: ashley and leon. i don't like to think them as a couple (20-27 is a bit icky to me especially when we consider sherry the daughter figure to be only 2 years younger than ashley) but especially in the remake they made a great duo

character i most identify with: ashley graham. girl in her late teens, scaredy little mouse cat who is more than she seems and i too would try to flirt with leon at any given chance. plus i really felt it when she said THIS SUCKS in her solo session lol

character i wish i could be: claire redfield. she is very badass (not as much as the merchant tho), she is real smart and she is strong and brave enough to survive racoon city at 19 with no preparation and a slow af revolver. also i want her jacket

I'm curious your opinion on Wesker's new design for re4. I didn't like it at first but it kinda grew on me.

I love his outfit so much. It's so refreshing to see something new, after he's been trapped in the same clothes for over a decade. I think it's a neat choice that he has a blue shirt instead of all black, kinda reminiscent of his STARS uniform. I do wish he had the one bloodied, bandaged arm like in the leaked concept art. Alas.

I didn't like the face at first, but it's growing on me. I still feel there's something off in the forehead/hairline area, like the brow is either too low or the hairline is too far back, which the sunglasses really exacerbate. It's the RE engine, so a little uncanniness is to be expected.

The voice is a VERY different take, and I keep going back and forth on whether I like it. At this point I will accept a fresh direction over continually diminishing photocopies of Richard Waugh's performance.

My only problem with his appearance in the game is what little we see of his characterization. He doesn't get many lines but he seems to already be in RE 5 mode, which makes me sad. I understand that they couldn't keep his goal from the original since that never panned out into anything (hey anyone else remember when he wanted to revive Umbrella?), I'm just a little salty that my favorite iteration of the character is being overwritten by my least favorite.

Question for anyone who is a new fan of the series and has only played the remakes or from 7 upwards: how confused were you by the post credits scene?

that’s a good question…… i don’t really know? it’s kinda weird bc i only just got into horror recently! as a kid i hated scary shit and i think i still don’t like cheap horror but it turns out i really like survival horror akdjsjjsfj

i think what initially drew me in was the characters and plot. the first game i sort of got into was re2 remake and i found the survival horror aspect really intriguing. like the whole. claire exploring a police station overrun by zombies on her own. i think that’s what initially sort of interested me lol- the premise

there r so many fun facts in my head about resident evil……. i love watching bts footage, especially motion capture!

one of my favorite lil tidbits of info about the characters is that chris was kicked out of/left the military because he had problems with authority. i just think it’s funny and very telling about his future career and choices

i also think it’s cool how much mocap neil newbon did for re3 remake! he played nicholai but also did the mocap for a bunch of zombies and nemesis

ada wong was going to be in village! i think that’s fairly well known at this point but she was gonna have a plague doctor outfit and help ethan! fairly similarly to re4 w leon imo

🌟 POKÉBALL ; when did you meet your f/o for the first time? were you a fan of the media they came from before, or was it love at first sight? did you have a crush for a while or did you immediately add them to your f/o list?

-Some of my fondest memories are watching my father play Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube. I liked both, but RE4 was my favorite and Leon was mostly the reason why. I fell in love with him as a child and he stick with me for years. Even though he was really important to me, I didn't put him on my F/O list for some time, mostly cause there was a long time I wasn't really into RE, but I've loved him for years and he's officially on the list as one of my two main F/O's.

🌟 SAFARI BALL ; have you ever been on a fun vacation with your f/o? where did you go? how did you spend your time with eachother? do you have any places on your bucket list where you’d love to go?

-We haven't been on a vacation yet! Due to his line of work we don't get a bunch of time to ourselves. When we do, we spend it at home, relaxing together. We really don't have a list of places we'd like to go either, unless wanting to spend a weekend alone out in a cabin counts, but the location doesn't really matter to us.

-Ohhhhh my gosh, okay! Leon means so so much to me, I love him so much! He makes me feel safe. He's funny, he's handsome, he's charming. I love his humor and all his campy, cheesy one liners.

Favorite scene? The Krauser knife fight. FIRST, the scar on his cheek is a prime target for kisses. Second, he just looks. So. Good!! During it! The way he handles his knife, his reflexes against a man who knows his moves, the backflip! I love it.

He looks good in just about everything he wears, but I really think he peaked in RE4, what with that jacket and tight black shirt and jeans BUT THEN in RE6 he has a bit of stubble and that nice new leather jacket and that pop of red under his shirt (that's his binder, King <3) and then later that TASTFULLY unbuttoned dark blue shirt like SIR

anyway I love Leon dearly and have loved him for years but just finally got back into Resident Evil proper.
