literally the best thing ever! not only because he loves to cuddle, no matter where you are – sometimes you have to give him the "not now" look, which makes him give you the biggest puppy eyes and you have no choice but to accept – but because he is so warm and so welcoming, with that incredible smell of his, that it just makes you feel right at home. safe in his arms. seriously, whenever you're near him he will hold you, wrapping his arms tightly around your body, fitting you perfectly into his frame (it's almost unbelievable how well you two fit together, or maybe it's because steve just can bend like gumbo). whenever you're out (at work, with the kids, on dates...) he just loves to hug you from behind, putting you in between his legs while you're standing up and he's sitting, holding your waist closely to him and resting his face in your back or arm. but when you go to sleep together, he'll absolutely want to be the little spoon, so just go ahead and spoil our boy a little, 'kay?

I really love bachira's ego development in blue lock because the end result of him wanting to play with isagi never changes; rather, it is bachira himself who does. and this is a very neat foil to reonagi where nagi changes so much as a player that it drastically splits his relationship with reo.

when bachira was stolen by rin's team in the second selection, bachira changes in the 4v4 match from "wanting isagi to steal him back" to "wanting to fight on his own" to (upon winning) "wanting to steal isagi himself." the perspective shifted such that he didn't want isagi to be his "monster" anymore; rather, bachira evolved so that he can play his ideal football alone but without feeling lonely. isagi, in the beginning, was his band-aid to loneliness. but now that he can be his own monster, instead of drifting away from isagi, this only amplifies his desire to play with isagi even more. because now they can fight as equals, monster and monster. bachira develops from "needing" isagi to substitute as the monster, to being able to fight on his own so he can finally, with his head held high, "want" to play with isagi. bachira is now free from his own chains (to borrow blue lock's favorite artistic metaphor), and in that freedom he is able to choose isagi wholeheartedly without that loneliness tying them both down. (I know that rin was the one who chose isagi in the end but like, it works out for bachira since he wanted isagi too)

this is a very neat parallel to reo and nagi where nagi changes such that he can't move forward anymore with reo by his side because they just aren't playing on the same level, with the same ambition, anymore. and I mean, nagi really did try not to just abandon reo. in the 3v3 match, he wanted to comfort him until reo provoked him to abandon him properly. but don't get me wrong, bachira is not a foil to nagi in this case, but a foil to reo. reo wanted to be chosen by nagi, and nagi did actually want to choose reo even at the end of the match, until isagi makes the egoistic argument why they should steal chigiri instead.

reo learns from isagi the same lesson bachira faced: don't aim to be the one who is chosen, but rather to be the one who gets to choose. funnily enough, we come full circle into this bachisagi and reonagi parallel because nagi was also the one who taught this lesson to bachira.

and I think this is such an interesting way to showcase what egoism entails. nagisagi make a great pair in the second selection because they both faced the problem of how to move forward on their own without reo and bachira enabling them. isagi (who, before blue lock, thought that losing to kira's team was perhaps all he could ever amount to) and nagi (who was always bored of everything) were able to improve and finally have that spark of a dream, and the possibility of attaining that dream is within their reach. how far will they chase that ambition that comes at the cost of cutting what could tie them down? (an interesting thought experiment is the hypothetical situation where, if isagi's team won the 4v4, would he choose to steal rin or bachira? I'd wager he's going to be conflicted about this, but nagi will push him to steal rin just as how isagi convinced nagi that they should choose chigiri)

and on the flip side of this is bachira and reo, faced with the overwhelming heights of their friends' ambitions and the danger of being left behind. but unlike reo, bachira was able to rise to that challenge and develop his ego enough to acknowledge that, in blue lock, to play with the best you have to become one of the best too. and that's why he's rewarded by the narrative and was able to keep being with isagi. (reo will too, hopefully; it'll just take a REALLY long time because he missed the perfect opportunity to respond to that challenge. but he'll get there!! I believe in him)
