The map consists of user stories written in the following way:Īs a creative professional, I want to organize my schedule, so that I have more free time. It helps them stay focused on the business value and release features that customers care about. Quite simply, user story mapping is a framework that product teams use for release planning. Keep reading to learn more about the User Story Mapping Template. But what are user story maps, and how can you create one with your Product Team? When the map is ready and published, a new link will show on top of the course page.First popularized by Jeff Patton in 2005, user story mapping is an agile way to manage product backlogs. The whole fairway shape is deleted when only two points left. To remove a fairway you need to right-click each point of the fairway shape to delete them one by one.System will draw a default fairway first that can be adjusted to match with actual course design.Remember to describe how and when to use drop zone into additional details of the basket.Note: single basket can have multiple drop zones if needed. To remove a drop zone, right-click the drop zone after selecting it.After adding a drop zone, you can move it to a different location.Drop zone will have it's own "throw line" to the basket.Clicking the map after selecting the basket and this tool with add a drop zone to the map, pointing to the basket. To delete a line or a part of it, right-click on top of a point to remove it.You can not add points at the end of an existing line. To edit a line, first select a line with "Selection tool" and then move points to new positions or add new points between existing points. These are just lines to visualize the OB, real OBs should be areas instead of lines.Need to select a basket number from the list view first.Initial tee and basket locations come from the " edit baskets" list when editing course details.Need to select a basket number from the list view. And you can select any items on the map to edit them. You can move the map by "dragging" it with this tool."Street view" is available, but not that useful for drawing maps.Change between street view and satellite view (preferred).Selected basket with tee, basket, line of throw and fairway.Baskets list for selecting baskets and showing par + length for each basket. If you select "Yes, change prohibited", then other users cannot edit the course map anymore. button available for all logged in usersĪs a course admin, editing basic details looks like this. Or from the mobile app when entering results. Course admins can disable changes to existing course maps.Įditing a course map starts from the course page. Once the map has tee and basket locations for all baskets, the course map will become public. Now everyone can create or edit a map for an existing course. Map creation permissions has changed during November 2020. Desktop version of the map editor should still be used to finalize the details such as OB lines or fairway areas. Note! Early 2021, a mobile map editor will be available for starting a map creation directly on the field. This mode uses course maps to mark each throw and calculate results and stats based on throws. Metrix Mobile App, that will be released early 2021, includes a "map-entry" mode for entering results and statistics.
#USER MADE GOLF IT MAPS HOW TO#
This page will give instructions on how to do it with some best practices to keep in mind.Ĭourse maps will be used to enter results via the map and of course provide more information to all players and spectators about the courses. Metrix can be used to create course maps.

The DMCA and You; or, why Tumblr won’t get sued over Post+
I keep seeing people saying “doesn’t Tumblr understand they’re inviting an avalanche of lawsuits” and being baffled that people think this, and then I remembered that most of you were not both alive and in fandom in 1998 and therefore probably haven’t spent hours reading through the DMCA trying to figure out exactly how it was going to screw us. (Turns out we were right, but not nearly pessimistic enough.) So gather ‘round, children, it’s time for another bout of fandom history.
You have to understand what the internet looked like in 1998. Most people didn’t have internet access at home, and for those who did, you got a whopping 54 kbps (yes, that’s kilobytes per second) (compare that to 4G wireless, which 14 Mbps, not to mention, you know, wireless) unless you wanted to shell out for ISDN, which was twice the speed and five times the cost. Only 47% of American adults “went online” at all, never mind the two to six hours per day that current internet users are estimated to spend.
And I mean, why would you? There wasn’t that much there. If you wanted to post something online, your first and best option was to pay for web hosting of your own, or mooch off a friend’s. Or you could get a Geocities site, which would be plastered with ads and limited you to such a small amount of storage that you couldn’t have more than a couple dozen low-resolution images at best, or you could post on a message board (which would be essentially mooching off of a friend’s paid web hosting, because most sites that hosted message boards were just some guy who wanted to have a place to chat with his friends that wasn’t a Yahoo! email list), where you might get permission to post three or four images at a time. Music? Rude, takes up too much bandwidth, don’t do that to people. Video? You’re hilarious. (I once left my computer on for a week while I attempted to illegally download a copy of Velvet Goldmine but I finally gave up and got it from the video store instead.)
But still, at the time that was magic, and as more and more stuff found its way online, somebody who held a copyright somewhere (read: music studios and Disney) realized they had to get out in front of things. And into this brave new world came the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which was passed in 1998 and was already skewing the shape of the internet of the future when it came into effect in 2000.
It did a lot of dumb things but the one we’re concerned about is the “safe harbor” provision, which basically says that in the case of an online copyright infringement, there are three parties: the infringer, the copyright holder, and the internet host, and the host is not a part of the copyright dispute.
Prior to this, if Sony or Disney or whoever found an illegal copy of their intellectual property (read: an mp3 or an avi) online, they’d go after whoever owned the server it lived on. Which made sense! If you find stolen TVs in someone’s basement, you go after the guy who owns the basement, and “I didn’t know my deadbeat brother in law was stealing TVs” is something you’ll have to prove in a court of law.
But internet companies like Geocities and Yahoo! and anyone else who offered random users the chance to post things on the internet using a free account said wait a minute, this doesn’t make sense. Because the internet is not like a physical basement; we have no reason to see someone carrying stolen mp3s down the basement stairs, and the scale is such that we couldn’t see all of them if we tried (unless we banned all mp3s, which means goodbye, MySpace, and goodbye indie bands). You wouldn’t go after a landlord in New York because their tenant in New Jersey is stealing TVs, would you?
So the DMCA said fine, we understand that the internet as it currently exists, and as it is attempting to exist (remember this is still the height of the dot.com boom and people are making money hand over fist by just owning websites), can’t operate if we try to do this. So instead of letting big companies sue big companies over copyright law, we’ll let big companies sue individual humans over copyright violations. That’s much more fair.
Of course most of what resulted wasn’t lawsuits at all; it was individuals getting threatening letters from Sony and Disney promising them that they were planning to sue but if you, Joe User, will just delete the thing you posted from the internet, we’re willing to make this all go away. And people did, because fuck, who’s going to duke it out with Disney?
The DMCA is the reason tumblr exists in the first place (not to mention twitter, and facebook, and essentially the entire part of the internet that isn’t either an ad or a news website). Technically, if tumblr was responsible for copyright violations, they’re already a prime target for a lawsuit, because they’re running ads on a website where people post copyright violations on a daily basis. Adding the opportunity for you to make money off your copyright violations doesn’t make them any more liable than they already are, which is not at all.
So here’s what predict will happen with Post+ at the beginning: absolutely nothing. A few people will monetize gifsets or fanfiction or vids and no one will pay attention and no one will care. But some small creators, people who post original fiction, people who post craft patterns, people who post insightful analysis, will start using it as part of their actual revenue stream. Sooner or later someone will be making enough money that it pings someone’s radar, and sooner or later someone making money will slip up and post something that could plausibly be a copyright violation, and they won’t get sued. They’ll get a takedown notice, a threatening letter from whoever owns the thing they infringed upon (...so Disney), and they’ll pull the thing. But it’s hard to pull things from the internet, much harder than it used to be, and nearly impossible the way tumblr works. So they get another takedown notice. Or Disney’s lawyers go through their blog with a fine-toothed comb and they start getting more and more unreasonable takedown notices, but now they’re scared and fuck, who’s going to duke it out with Disney? So they take their blog down entirely, and now that person is a little bit poorer and Disney is out the cost of four or five stamps and envelopes and the time their lawyer spent fifteen years ago drafting the takedown notice template.
I guarantee you that the people who decided to implement this know that this is going to happen, and they do not care. We’ve reached the “we could make this website work if we could just get rid of fandom” stage, which never ends well for the website but they never seem to learn that. So please, please don’t try to monetize fandom content on the assumption that tumblr is going to be the one to get slapped with a lawsuit for it, that’s just not how it works. It never has been and it never will be.

When I got my ADHD diagnosis, I looked at the questions on the screening form and thought, "If this result comes back positive, then I'm definitely not the only person in my family who has it." Questions like
"Have difficulty finishing one activity before starting another one" and
"I finish others' sentences before they can finish it themselves" and
"have trouble staying on one topic when talking"
...I thought were just weird quirks of my family, but no. When I got my results, I contacted my cousin, and she contacted her sisters and mother, and .. .. yeah. Basically everyone in my dad's side of the family is ADHD.
Now there are some problems with that, obviously, (getting family reunions to stick to a schedule is lol no) but there are some really fantastic perks. For one thing, no one in that family minds if I interrupt them while they're talking ... everyone's happy to keep 3 conversations going at the same time .... and no one minds if you fidget constantly.
But the best perk -- at least that I've found so far -- is that all of our parents have coping mechanisms, and passed them on to us. When I found myself unable to handle tasks with more than one step, my father didn't say "WTF are you talking about? It's easy! Just do the thing! Stop being lazy!" No, he could relate completely, and he sat down and taught me how to handle that.
So today, I'm going to pass on to you the coping mechanism my dad taught me for handling the "cannot put tasks in order / cannot get started / forget what I'm doing" problem. You'll need to adjust it for your own needs and your own struggles, but hopefully it'll be helpful in setting up your own process.
I'm going to walk through it with a big project I'm doing at work, just to have a concrete example. That will make some of the discussion specific to computer programming and technical writing, but I do the same thing for all my projects, so hopefully it'll be generalizable.
So to set the stage:
I was supposed to modify this piece of code -- we'll call it "Rosetta" -- to make it handle call data as well as what it was already doing. I did that.... but we now need the code to be able to handle calls (if that's wanted) but also to be able to handle NOT having calls (if THAT'S wanted).
Which is just .... ugh. So much. SOOOOOOOO much.
So. Break it down.
Step one is to get some recording mechanism - pen and paper, whiteboard, blank computer document, whatever
(Technically, this is a different coping strategy, so we'll just take a quick detour: WRITE THINGS DOWN. Your brain is shit at remembering things, and anyway you've already got limits on your working memory; why would you choose to tie up some of that limited resource in something that could be accomplished with literal stone-age technology? Don't even try to remember things. WRITE THEM DOWN.)
I like sticky notes: they're readily available in all offices, they're pretty cheap, and (most importantly) they can be rearranged if it turns out that I forgot a step or put the steps in the wrong order (which, like, let's be honest, I am definitely going to do). But they kill trees and create unnecessary methane emissions, so I've recently switched over to using virtual sticky notes. That's the format I'm going to use for this example, but you can use anything that meets your purposes.
So, you've got something to write with, you're ready to start.
The first question is: what are you trying to accomplish here? What would "done" look like? What is our goal?
I need to end up with a version of Rosetta that will make the correct results if you don't want calls, and will also make the correct results if you do.
The goal here is that you end up with a statement that you can definitively say (a) Yes this is what I wanted or (b)No this is not right because _______
In this case, in order to do that, I'll need to define "correct results" for both call- and non-call versions. But if I have that nailed down, then this statement meets that criterion: I'll be able to say "Yes, this is what I wanted: see, it makes the correct result for calls, and it makes the correct result for not-calls". Or else I'll be able to say, "No, this is wrong: see, it makes the correct result for calls, but on not-calls it does X and we wanted Y."
I have a clear, definitive standard about what I need to do and whether or not I've done it.
But there was a prerequisite there: I need to define "correct results".
So that goes on a sticky note: Create test that will compare my results to existing call!Rosetta-results and to existing not-call!Rosetta-results.
Tumblr media
[ID: Two blue boxes, one on top of the other. The top one says in white text "Create test to compare my results to call!results" The bottom one says "Create test to compare my results to not-call!results"] OK. So now we know what we want. The second question is: what do we need to do in order to get that? Here's where the sticky-note recording system really shines, because you don't have to answer this question sequentially. You just start writing down every single thing that is not the way you want it to end up.
I need it to remove commas in the python script, not the bash script
I need to delete the first part of the get_runs() function, which doesn't do anything
I need to delete the rest of the parameters passed to build_query_script() function, because runs encompasses all the others
while we're on that subject, runs doesn't even need the group_variable, so let's pull that out of the parameter document
we also have a dmf defined, which the bash script demands but doesn't use; let's change that demand
since we're changing the structure of the parameter document, we don't need to pull new metrics for each run, so let's move that outside of the runs() loop and only run once
right now the parameter document is ALMOST but not quite "one row per template". Make it so it's actually one row per template.
among other things, that's going to require making it possible for a template to be followed by nothing at all, since it's the assumption that a template will have a metrics block after it that makes it not quite one row per template. So make it possible to publish a template with a null block
the other thing that's weirdly hard-coded is the definition of what a block looks like. Would it make more sense to separate that out into an input file, like the parameters document? On the one hand, that would make it much more flexible; on the other hand, that's another piece that can break. Don't know. Put a question mark on it.
etc
Here's what it looks like at the end of this step:
Tumblr media
[ID: A black and white background showing many boxes in two different shades of blue, all with white text. Some of the boxes are overlapping each other.]
As you can see, at this phase you don't need to worry about any of the following:
ordering the tasks. Just stick 'em right on top of each other for now
how you're going to do any of this. Right now we just need to know what, not how
sticking to only one project. As I was working on this, it occurred to me that this whole process would have been a heck of a lot easier if someone had just made a user manual for this, and since I have to go through all the code line-by-line anyway, I might as well write up the documentation while I'm at it. (To help out future-me, if nothing else.) So I put those tasks on another color of sticky note.
making notes that make any ***ing sense to anyone else. This process is for you, and only you need to understand what you're talking about it. Phrase it in ways that make sense to your brain, and to hell with anyone else.
on that topic, also don't worry about making steps that are "too small" or "too dumb" to write down. This is for you. If "save document" feels like a step to you, then write it down.
You also don't need to get every single step involved in the project right now. Get as many as you can, to be sure, but the process is designed on the assumption that you ARE going to forget important steps, and is designed to handle that.
When you can't think of any more steps, then the third question is: what order does it make sense to do these in? Are there any steps that would be easier if you did another step first? Are there any that literally cannot be done unless another step is complete?
This is also a good place to group steps if they fit together nicely. When I used physical sticky notes, I used two different sizes; digitally I can of course make them whatever size I want.
So I have several documentation steps that (a) do need to be written to make sense to other people and (b) I really need to know what's going on before I can do that. I could write them now, but if I did, I'd just end up re-writing them based on things that change as I'm coding. So we'll move those to the end:
Tumblr media
[ID: Three dark blue boxes with white text. They read "Create step-by-step instructions for creating your own metric agg", "Create step-by-step instructions for modifying a metric", "Create step-by-step instructions for modifying a query."]
These parts, though -- if I had all the variable structures written down, I could look at them while I'm coding. Then I won't have to keep scrolling back and forth in the code, trying to remember if it's an array or a dictionary while also trying to remember what part of the code I was working on. Brilliant. Move that to the front.
Tumblr media
[ID: Seven dark blue boxes with white text, three large, four small. The first one is large and says "Write up explanation of how Rosetta works." The second one is large and says "Document structure of all variables." Attached to that one are four smaller boxes that say "All_blocks", "Runs", "metric", "New_block". The third large one says "Document what qb_parameters.csv contains"]
Also, while I'm at it, I should get the list of variables I need to document -- then I won't have to keep scrolling to find them. Make those sub-steps.
I definitely keep needing to look up what's in the parameters document, so I should write that down, too. For the user manual I also should write down what's in the metric document, but I don't need that for myself, so I can send that to the end.
Tumblr media
[ID: The same three dark blue boxes from two screenshots ago (create step-by-step instructions for metric agg, modifying a metric, and modifying a query), now with another dark blue box in front of them with white text that says "Document what granular_metrics.tsv contains."]
These five are all small steps, and are all related in that they don't actually (hopefully) change the functionality of the code; they're just stuff left over from prior versions of this code. So we can lump them all together.
Tumblr media
[ID: Five light blue boxes with white text that say "Delete first part of get_runs()", "Have build_query_script only receive the "run" parameter" "Delete dmf" "Move metrics=get_metrics() outside build_all_blocks (all the way up to the top level?" "Delete group_variable from qp_parameters"]
My brain likes this better, so that I can keep track of fewer "main steps", but that's just a peculiarity of me -- you should lump and split however you prefer to make this process easier for you.
Tumblr media
[ID: The same five boxes from the prior screenshot, now all made smaller and attached to a larger box that says "Remove Legacy Code"]
Keep going, step by step, sticky by sticky, until you've got them in order. If -- while you're doing this -- you remember another thing you need to do, write it on a sticky and slap it on the pile; you don't have to stop what you're doing to deal with it, because it's written down and it's on the pile and it will get processed; you can just keep working on the thing you're on right now.
Tumblr media
[ID: All the same boxes from the first screenshot, now in a neat row. Some of the original boxes have been grouped together. The ones that were said to be at the beginning of the process are on the left and the ones that were said to be at the end are on the right.]
Step four: for the love of all that's holy, SAVE THIS LIST.
Write it on your cubicle whiteboard where it won't be erased
write it on a piece of paper and tape it to the office wall
send an email to yourself
take a picture with your phone
I don't care but save it.
When I used physical sticky notes, I kept them all on the hood of my cubicle's shelf. Now, as you can see, I use Powerpoint, which is irritating af but does allow me to keep everything in a single document, which I can write down the path of.
Tumblr media
[ID: White text on a black background says "open ~/Documents/Rosetta\ Modifications\ and \Documentation.pptx" The next line says "Notes in Rocketbook pg 10-12, 16" The next line says "Turn that into documentation that can be used for making modifications."]
And now (finally) you can answer the question "How would I even get started on that?" You look at the first thing on the list, and you treat it as its own project. You can hyperfocus on this step and completely forget about everything else this project requires, because everything you need to remember for the rest of it is written down.
If, as you're working a step, you think of something else you need to do for the big project, write it on a sticky and slap it on the pile. Don't even worry about trying to order it or identify sub-steps; as long as it's not blocking the thing you need to work on right now, you don't have to care. Just stick that bugger anywhere at all on the list, and go back to what you were doing. When you un-hyperfocus and come back to look at your list, there'll be a big sticky note stuck sideways across all the rest of the steps, and you'll remember to file and order it then.
Other benefits of this system
1) The first question really helps with unclear directions from your boss. You can take whatever they told you to do, and translate it into a requirement that is clearly either met or not-met, and then run it back by the boss.
If they say, "No, no, we want ______" then phew! You just saved a huge miscommunication and weeks of wasted work! What a good employee you are! What an excellent team player with strong communication skills!
If they say "Yes, that's what I want," then you know -- for sure -- what it is you're trying to accomplish. Your anxiety is reduced, and your boss thinks you're super-conscientious.
(And if your boss is a jerk who likes to move the goalposts and blame it on their subordinates, then have this conversation over email, so you can show it to their boss or to HR should it become necessary.)
2) Having this project map means that when you spend an hour staring at the requirements and trying to figure out how to get started (which, let's be honest, you were definitely going to do anyway) ... When your boss/coworker comes by and says, "How's it going?" Instead of having to say "I haven't even started 😞" You can say, "Pretty well! I've got all the steps mapped out and am getting ready to start on implementation!" and show them your list, and they think you're very organized and meticulous. 3) Sometimes, especially in corporate jobs, you and your coworkers will run into a problem that's too big for even Neurotypicals to hold all in their heads. At that point, the NTs will be completely lost -- they've never had to develop a way to handle projects they can't just look at and know how to get started. So then you pipe up in the meeting and say, "OK, well, what exactly are we trying to accomplish?" and everybody at the conference table looks at you like you're a goddamned genius and you don't have to tell them that you use this exact same process to remember how to make a sandwich 😅
4) Having this project map makes it so much easier to stop work and then start it up again later, but this post is already really really really long, so I'm going to address that in a separate (really really long) post.

Understanding Content Management & Marketing
Created content has to be stored, managed, and marketed; to increase the value of the content.  A strategically conceived Content Marketing plan can establish your brand, increase conversion, and improve website ranking.
Let’s look into Content Management and Content Marketing.
Tumblr media
Content Management
Content management is the process of organizing, classifying, and securely storing them in a Content Management System (CMS).
Every digital user may not use the same methodology of content management. It may vary from person to person.
The organized content can be reused or published on different platforms. Content management will include storing branding documents, emails, publishing plans, and so on.
A digital marketing team prepares strategies to create and organize content. There are a lot of things they look into, like the important days, festive season, occasions, and so on to create relevant content.
The content is prepared weeks or even months before it’s published. The content is categorically classified and maintained in the system. It’s then reviewed and published as per the timelines.
Therefore, content management is quite crucial for organizations. It is a well-made plan and is managed effectively to publish relevant content on various platforms. Some of the Content Management Systems are:
Web Content Management System (WCMS)
Web Content Management System is a user-friendly system that is specifically designed to manage web content.
It allows users to customize their webpage even though they have limited or no knowledge of coding or programming language.
The WCMS is an automated system that provides collaboration and administration tools to manage content.
The system has templates in HTML and XML format that users can apply to their content.  Few Examples of WCMS are Joomla, SharePoint, Drupal, WordPress.com, Blogger.com, and Tumblr.
Document Management System (DMS)
Document Management System provides an automated solution to organize content and store them in a cloud.
It ensures confidential information is stored securely. You can access the documents from your mobile and edit remotely.
You can promote a paperless environment and avoid copying or scanning of documents. Few Examples are Oracle, IBM-FileNet, and OpenText.
Component Content Management System (CCMS)
Component Content Management System allows managing your content at a granular level. Using the CCMS, you can track metadata, versions, and links that are associated with each component.
You can also track the changes made to the content, who made the changes, and when the changes were made.
Though the components are stored once, it is designed for re-use. Examples of CCMS are XML Documentation for Adobe Experience Manager, Documentum, and Author-It.
Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS)
An Enterprise Content Management System is used by companies to collect their documentation, organize and deliver them to the right audience.
The system can process and automatically store any file type. It gives easy access for authorized members to access the content to make important organizational decisions.
It automatically deletes files after a certain period and frees-up storage space. Examples of ECMS are Zoho Docs, IBM FileNET, iManage, and Laserfiche.
Digital Asset Management System (DAMS)
Digital Asset Management System allows storing, organizing, and sharing content with much ease.
It offers a centralized content library from where you can access digital content, which includes video, audio, files, presentations, and documents. Since it is cloud-based, it can be accessed from anywhere. Examples are Adobe Experience Manager Assets, Bynder, Aprimo, and Canto.
While planning to choose a CMS, understand your requirements and problems that you’re trying to solve. This will help in choosing the right CMS. Such as:
Consider your budget, and how much content you need to publish in a day
Go for a user-friendly system
If you have limited or no knowledge of coding, it’s better to opt for a user-friendly system
The system should also be SEO friendly, which will help in managing on-page optimization.
Also, social media has a variety of content management tools to offer. You can use these tools to schedule your posts.
Some of the tools are quite advanced. They have in-built templates that you can use to create posts for various social media platforms.
They also monitor your growth and help you in setting up keyword searches and follow hashtags. Some of the social media content management tools are Buffer, Tailwind, Sprout Social, Preview, Sendible, Hootsuite, and Iconosquare.
Content Marketing
Content Marketing, if used strategically, can drive optimum results. It should be valuable, consistent, and relevant to your audience to drive customer action.
Content can be in any format – text, graphic, or multimedia. It is how you use them to present to your clients or customers.
Note, not every approach works for every product. You have to find what approach works best for your products/services.
AIDA-R approach
AIDA approach is a strategy that marketers use.
It is a communication model that helps companies to identify platforms for marketing, including how to communicate and when to communicate about their brand.
This is used by content creators and companies to strategically publish their content to create brand awareness.
AIDA stands for:
Awareness – Create awareness through various forms of content about your products and services
Interest – The information should be valuable and informative to     create interest
Desire – Make the customer want to purchase the product by creating     a desire for the product
Action – Create a conversion by moving them to take action. Provide     contact information in the content for customers to take action and make  contact
Also, I would like to add ‘Retention’ to this approach.
Retention – Retain your customers through up-selling or cross-selling. This will help in maintaining the ongoing relationship.
Marketing Platforms
Content is published on various platforms like company websites in the form of blogs and articles.
There are also various other publishing sites where you can publish your articles and features; on platforms ike Medium, Joomag, Yumpu, Readz, Adobe, and many more.
Social Media platforms are the most popular platforms to share images and videos.
You can curate content according to the platform and post them on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and many more.
Tumblr media
Social Media platforms can be optimally used to create Awareness, Interest, Desire, Action, and Retention.
These platforms are quite popular among digital marketers to promote their brand. Social media marketers introduce a product on their platforms.
They create interest by posting the uses of the products.
They eventually influence their followers to buy the product by creating a desire to own the product.
They create engaging content to create interest and post them consistently as per a schedule.
Creating content is not enough. Strategically managing them, and marketing them is equally important.
The Content Management and Marketing spectrum are evolving and growing every day. A content strategist has to be vigilant and keep on finding new ways to market their products.

... MEWE RP !
so  i  decided  to  make  this  as  my  first  resource  for  those  who  have  heard  this  type  of  rp  but  find  it  confusing.  i  myself  don’t  know  how  i  came  across  it,  but  the  truth  is  mewe  rp  is  becoming  more  and  more  popular  amongst  rpers  and  turning  into  a  good  alternative  to  twitter  and  facebook  rp.  not  gonna  say  it’s  better,  but  this  new  site  does  have  more  features  for  a  more  organized  roleplay  experience  than  twitter  or  facebook.  with  no  more  delays,  here  is  some  things  to  know  about  mewe.
if by any chance, there is any question or doubt about this how to, know that my messages are wide open for you. also, don’t take credit or steal the content; it took me ages to put it together.
ABOUT MEWE
mewe  has  been  around  a  while  and  can  be  installed  in  the  mobile  device  just  like  tumblr,  facebook  or  twitter.  doesn’t  weight  much  on  your  device  and  allows  you  to  roleplay  from  your  phone  or  tablet  as  well. much  like  twitter  and  facebook,  it  has  the  main  feed,  where you  can  post  text,  pictures,  videos,  gifs  and  polls  for  others  (  in  this  case,  your  friends  )  to  view  and  answer/comment  on  it.  it  can  be  considered  a  new  social  media  where  most  features  are  free  (  you  have,  of  course,  some  features  that  needs  payment  but  you’ll  soon  realize  most  of  them  aren’t  worth  it  ).  it  can  also  happen  a  lot  that  the  payment  features  become  available  for  free  for  long-time  users,  as  it  happened  once  (  i  became  able  to  use  the  dark  theme,  for  example,  that  is  $2,99,  after  a  few  updates  the  application  as  made  ).
like  on  all  platforms,  you have  a  your  account  that  you  can  modify  with  your  own  profile  (  with  a  profile  picture  +  header  ),  that  you  can  also  access  through  browser  on  your  laptop.  in  your  profile,  there are  eight  fields  you  can  fill  information  with  (  about  me,  town,  company,  college,  high school,  relationship  status  and  interests  ).  all  of  them  have  word  limit  except  about  me,  which  usually  is  used  to  write  about  your  character  and,  some  rpers,  decided  to  put  ooc  information  too  (  ooc  age,  timezone,  if  they’re  up  for  plotting  and  writing  preferences  )  but  i’ll  get  to  that  later.
on browser, find  the  website  on  www.mewe.com.  it’s  fairly  easier  than  on  mobile,  since  you  can  find  everything  you  need  on  the  top  bar  and  sidelines. to  access  things  like  settings,  your profile  or  contacts, just  click  on  the  small  icon  on  the  top  right  corner  of  your  screen.
Tumblr media
on  mobile,  let’s  start  on  the  bottom  line.  you  have  a  little  house,  that  represents  your  main  feed;  three  dots  connected,  that  represent  the  groups  you’re  in  (  very  important  feature,  that  i’ll explain  briefly  );  the message icon,  where  your  private  messages  are  at;  a  little  bell,  that  will  present  your  notifications  and  the  last  button,  of  a  little  person,  that  will  take  you  to  your  profile  settings.
Tumblr media
1. YOUR SETTINGS
let’s  start with your profile.  when  clicking  on  the  little  person  on  the  right  bottom  corner  of  your  mobile  (  or  if  you’re  on  the  browser,  the  right  upper  corner  where  your  profile  picture  appears  ),  you’ll  find  several  options.  the  ones  we’ll  be  concerning  over  are  contacts,  my  profile,  settings  and  my  account,  starting  by  the  latter.
1.1. MY  ACCOUNT in  here,  you’ll  be  able  to  change  the  name,  phone number,  email  and  password,  as  well  add  your  birthday  (  in  this  case,  your  characters  birthday  ),  log  out  and  delete  your  account.  the  important  factors  to  retain  from  this  page  is  you  can  choose  to  create  your  account  with  only  your  phone  number  or  only  your  email   — you  don’t  need  both;  if  you  happen  to  change  the  name  of  the  account,  you  can’t  change  it  back  for  60  days,  so  be  careful  with  mistakes  or  if  you  really  want  to  change  it;  and  it’s  not  mandatory  to  put  your  birthday.
1.2. SETTINGS the  settings  is  more  of  technical  side  of  your  account:  to  allow  notifications  on  your  email,  to  silence  notifications  of  certain  groups  and  so  on.  the  most  important  feature  here  is  the  feed preferences  one.  most  rps  will  ask  you  right  off  the  bat  to  go  to  your  settings  and  enable  new  posts  to  appear  first  on  your  feed,  and  not  the  recently  commented  ones.  this  will  help  on  activity  and  everyone  feeling  included.  mewe  is  formatted  to  have  the  recently  commented posts  appear  first  on  your  feed,  so  feel  free  to  change  it  there.
1.3. MY  PROFILE so  this  is  what  everyone  else  will  see.  i’ll  put  below  the  the  options  and  explain  what’s  usually  done.
ABOUT ME: about  your  character;  you  can  easily  write  as  much  as  you  like  because  it  has  no  word  limit.  i  stated  before  some  rpers  put  here  the  ooc  information  too  (  between  brackets  or  below  the  character  info  ).  usually  the  ooc  info  is  of  the  ooc  age,  timezone,  writing  preference  and  some  also  add  specifications  like  i  work  full  time  so  will  be  more  present  in  messages  or  in  college,  so  paras  will  be  answered  at  night.  it’s  up  to  you,  but  it’s  advisable.  also,  your  character  information  has  to  be  written  in  character.  like  making  a  social  media  for  your  character
TOWN: little  are  the  people  that  truly …  but  the  town  of  their  characters.  especially  because  mewe  roleplays  usually  request  you  to  put  a  certain  word  or  symbol  to  connect  you  to  the  roleplay.  most  rpers  either  put  the  town  or  that  symbol/word.  it’s  up  to you. has  word  limit
COMPANY: so  mostly,  mewe  rp  is  used  for  kpop  rps  (  from asian  entertainment  industry  ).  most  use  this  to  put  the  entertainment  company.  mafia  rps  usually  use  this  to  put  the  gang  they’re  associated  with.  it  can  also  be  used  for  the  roleplay symbol/word,  but  it  has  word  limit
WORK: again,  it’s  explanatory.  in  celebrity  rps  can  also  be  used  to  put  your  place  in  the  band.  you can  also  be  light-hearted  and  put  something  like  ‘ nochu’s  #1  hypeman  ‘  or  something.  you  don’t  need  to  be  100%  accurate,  since  you  have  to  play  out  like  you’re  making  a  social  media  profile  for  your  character. has word  limit
COLLEGE/HIGH SCHOOL:  pretty much  what  it  says.  also  can  be  used  for  the  roleplay’ symbol/word. has word limit
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: this  will  allow  other  rpers  to  know  if  you’re  off  the  market  or  not.  rpers  can  also  put  their  character’s  sexuality  to  be  more  clear  what  your  preferences  are. has  word  limit
INTERESTS: this  can  really  make  or  break  a  chance  of  conversation.  make  it  fun  !  what  does  your  character  like  ?  hobbies  ?  beware,  it  has  word  limit
you  also  have  a  second  part  of  your profile,  where  you  can  fill  what  your  character  is  drinking,  listening,  reading,  eating,  watching  and  quoting.  it’s  not  mandatory,  but  it’s  always  fun  to  fill.
1.4. CONTACTS where you’ll find everyone you follow. make sure to keep up with the following and unfollowing groups ( i’ll talk about it in a minute ), but also with the admin accounts. a trick: to make sure you have the same contacts as the admin account, go to their profile, click their contacts and it will appear on top suggest contacts. if there is any contact to suggest, it’s a contact you, as the player, need to delete.
2. NOTIFICATIONS
this part is very easy. whenever someone comments on your post, mentions your name in one of the messages, accepts your friend request, answers a private post or invites you to a group, it will show up here. the ideal is to always answer comments and things alike, but it’s up to you ( i advise you to, though ).
3. THE MESSAGES
your private messages, although, the groups you’re in also have their own chats. beginning with the group chats, you can socialize with everyone at the same time. if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, it usually isn’t mandatory. you can also silence these chats without silencing the notifications. first, you get inside the chat. on mobile, you’ll have three dots on your top right corner and clicking on it, it will appear several options. you just have to click hide chat and it will not bother you again unless you go to the actual group and click the message icon on the header. on the browser, it’s getting inside the chat and click info, and proceed to the hide chat as well.
now, you may be wondering — so okay nochu, messages are treated like messages. so how do we write interactions face to face? i’m glad you ask, my friend.
on mobile: inside the chat with the person you want to interact face to face with, the same three dots on the right upper corner have an option named post or private post. by clicking that, you’ll be redirected to another blank page. this blank page will be filled with previous different threads as you keep interacting with that person, but since it’s your first time, there will be a pencil icon on the left bottom corner. click it and it will appear the options of gif, camera, photos, poll and text. choose the text one and write away! only the person you’re interacting with will see it
on the browser: it depends. if you have the whole chat page open, under the typing box you have a list of icons. just click the third counting from your left. if you’re in the main feed and open only the chatbox, you’ll find a + next to the typing box; click it and the same options that appear on mobile will appear here. click the text one and start typing!
if for some reason you want to delete the chats, just click on the info button or the three dots and the option will appear.
4. THE DOTS CONNECTED
so your groups will appear here. when accepted to roleplay, the admin will add you to the groups ( check your notifications and accept every single one of them ). by clicking the icon of the group, there will appear the posts related to that group ( if it’s an ooc group, certainly the ooc posts will appear below ). it now depends on what type of groups the roleplay has, but some that are usual amongst them are the following and removals, ooc, nsfw and announcements.
FOLLOWING AND REMOVALS: very important to keep up with to make sure who’s still in the roleplay and who’s out. it’s the same with tumblr and twitter roleplay
OOC: usually rpers will interact more ooc here. usually, there’s a pinned post by the admin that has a hiatus template. even if you filled it, make sure to message the admin account too ( just a piece of advice )
NSFW: this group is designed to characters post only dirty pictures. aside from the private posts, you’re only allowed to post nsfw content in this group
ANNOUNCEMENTS: i’ve seen roleplays use this group to perform their activity checks too. but this group is basically formed for the admin to make announcements and make sure everyone reads it
in any circumstance, you can leave any of the groups while in the roleplay. if you choose to leave, please warn the admin account, unfriend everyone and then, yes, proceed to leave the groups. on mobile, click on the group, then on the info icon on the top right side of the page and you’ll have a button leave group. clean and easy.
5. THE MAIN FEED
here is where you’ll be able to post your social media updates and see of the people you friended too. make sure to put emojis on everyone’s post ( limit of 4 emojis ) and try to comment on everyone. this will provide inclusion of everyone. you can post pictures, memes, gifs, videos, texts and so on. on mobile, the same pencil icon will appear on the right bottom side of the page. just click on it and start creating your post. on the browser, there is a typing box on the top of the page, with the fading inscription of tell your contacts what’s happening. just start creating from there !
6. EXTRAS
SNS: the twitter handle if you will. use them on the main feed when posting like you’re posting on social media
ACTIVITY CHECKS: each roleplay have their own thing. some do bi-weekly checks, other have weekly checks. normally, to pass the activity checks, you’ll have to interact by commenting on other people’s posts. usually more than two and very well, on some introduction. it’s pretty easy, even if you’re usually busy and unable to go on the computer
HIATUS AND SEMI-HIATUS: usually the full-hiatus will last 10 days. it depends from roleplay to roleplay but basically, it will allow you to skip one activity check
DON’T BE AFRAID TO TALK TO THE ADMINS. they might be scary but best believe
DON’T JUST DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT. if you intend to leave, please let the admins know. don’t be rude. it’s harder to keep up in mewe than on tumblr or twitter. don’t make the admins job harder than it is
these are the basis to mewe rp. if there are any questions or doubts about it, please let me know. if you need a part 2 about, also let me know. my messages are always open.

RECENT NEWS & STUDIES - APRIL 2019
Tumblr media
Welcome to CindyLouWho2′s periodic roundup of news, tutorials and studies from the world of ecommerce, content marketing & social media. This is my first time posting this news here on my new Tumblr account, so please let me know how the format is working out; I want to make it as readable as possible. I am working on making the links a little more obvious; I may have to change templates to do that.
Sorry it is so long this time. I am working on getting it back down to a post once every 10 days at most, but it might take me til May to get back on track.
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
Google core algorithm update started March 12; early winners & losers here and here, among other info about the update.
Also, Google accidentally de-indexed some pages last week, & they are still working on fixing it.
Etsy phone support finally available to everyone (if you speak English, of course).
Amazon no longer requires Marketplace sellers to keep their prices elsewhere the same or higher as on Amazon.
Worldpay, one of Etsy’s payment providers, sold to FIS for $35 billion.  (Etsy also uses Ayden for some of their payment processing.)
TOP ETSY NEWS
Last week, Etsy sent emails to non-US sellers, telling them that their refunds for the overcharging that has been going on since October 2018 will be issued by the end of the day, June 30th (or earlier). It doesn’t mention when they will stop overcharging, though.
Etsy held Investor Day on March . You can view the slides that went along with the presentations, and there is a short summary of the search info discussed here. CEO Josh Silverman then did an interview with CNBC (video only), which is summarized here.
There was an Etsy podcast on search questions (links to recording, and transcription), but it didn’t have any new info.
They’ve also released their spring & summer trends report, with a podcast & transcript, as well as a lengthy pdf file with keyword data (I will be summarizing that separately).
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Rand Fishkin (founder of Moz) is doing a series of 10-minute Whiteboard Friday presentations on learning SEO basics, with both video & transcripts included in the links.  Remember, some of these things do not apply to Etsy shops, but can apply to your website, depending on the coding.
Part 1, SEO strategy;  It assumes some knowledge of marketing terms, but the SEO part is definitely intro-level
Part 2, keyword research.  Long tail: “20% of all searches that Google receives each day they have never seen before.”
Part 3: satisfy searcher needs.
Part 4:  optimizing through keywords & other elements.
And Moz’s Beginners Guide to SEO is finally fully updated. (Some parts are more technical, so stick to the on-page stuff if you are really new to this.)
Chrome now offering the ability to select privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo as your browser default. This should increase DDG’s slice of traffic if Google continues this.
Google released its Webspam report for 2018.
Hmm, wonder why I would come across SEO tips for Tumblr this edition?  🤔

According to Joni Deus, director of partnerships at Mailchimp, that data (in Mailchimp’s eyes) doesn’t belong to Shopify.”

Tone is key to good customer service. I like the bit about answering apparently stupid questions - making the customer feel stupid (even if 99% of readers would agree the question was stupid) is usually not a good approach. But it can be hard to weed out negative tone. Other good quotes: “Directing the conversation away from the negative aspects and focusing instead on the proposed solution helps customers accept the situation and reduces the odds that they will be upset.” and “It almost doesn’t matter how good the news is; if it comes after “actually,” I feel like I was somehow wrong about something.”

Under Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation, photos are considered “sensitive personal information” if they are used to confirm an individual’s identity. Residents of Europe who don’t want their data included can ask IBM to delete it. If IBM doesn’t comply, they can complain to their country’s data protection authority, which, if the particular photos fall under the definition of “sensitive personal information,” can levy fines against companies that violate the law.
In the U.S., some states have laws that could be relevant. “Full Sqribble Software REVIEW!”
In this review, I’m going to be taking a closer look at Sqribble — a brand new cloud-based tool that allows you to create eBooks, reports, whitepapers or other digital books on the fly, quickly and easily.
We’ll cover what it does, who it’s for, how much it costs, what the upsells are, and the pros and cons of this new tool, so you can make a more informed decision about purchasing it… and if it’s right for you.
What is Sqribble?
Sqribble is a cloud based eBook creator tool. It allows you to create professional looking eBooks, based on templates inside the tool, with a few clicks, saving you a huge amount of time and money.
Unlike other eBook creators, Sqribble immediately caught my attention because it has some really useful features I haven’t seen anywhere else.
Here’s a few features that really blew me away:
Automatic content — yep, you can actually use Sqribble to fill your book with expert content, so you don’t have to write a word. This is content from around the web, based on the URL you provide. You can pull content from any URL, paste it directly, extract from a Word doc or from their own library of niche articles. Total game changer.
This is a HUGE time saver and a major plus for anyone who hates writing or doesn’t have time to do it.
Gorgeous eCovers — a lot of eBook tools might save time, but they turn out terrible eCovers for your books. Sqribble is different here. The covers are seriously impressive. They wouldn’t look out of place on Kindle or Amazon, and they instantly look like you’re a professional who commands trust and authority.
Create Flipbooks — this is one of my favorite things about Sqribble. You can turn your “flat” books into interactive flipbooks. This makes your digital book look and feel much more like a real book — with pages that turn (animated like a real book page turning) and make the book look like something you can reach out and grab.
Why does this matter?
It’s about standing out and grabbing attention. Plus, it’s a way to engage your readers better. If they enjoy the experience of reading your book (“flipping” the pages) they’re more likely to get value from your content and keep reading until the end where your pitch or call to action is! Another thing about flip books is that you can embed them on your website with a simple piece of code that Sqribble provides once you publish your book. Awesome!
What else can Sqribble do?
Sqribble is versatile tool, with tons more features I found useful. For example, here’s what else Sqribble can do:
— Automatic table of contents
— Automatic headers and footers
— Automatic pagination
— Drag and drop design
— Add or delete pages
— Add your own media
— 300+ Google Fonts
— 50 eBook templates (covering 15 different niches)
— 10 different eBook themes (1 click changes color scheme of book)
— Import content from a URL
— Manually add content
And that’s just the stuff I saw inside the dashboard!
There’s tons of features packed into this tool, making it one of the best eBook creators I’ve seen, but there is one slight negative point which I’ll cover down below.
Who is it for?
Sqribble is most suited for freelancers, independent internet marketers, small marketing agencies and small business owners who want to create lead magnets, publish Kindle books, create and sell eBooks, or publish whitepapers.
If you’re also looking to create an additional income you’ll be pleased to know that also included is a commercial agency license to use Sqribble for client work, offering eBook creation services, with the ability to create unlimited eBooks which you can sell and keep all the profits!
They also give you a ready built agency website with pre-filled portfolio that you can upload to any domain for instant authority, so that you can show it off to any new potential clients to get work. (Professional websites like this would cost you at least $600 alone, so it’s really good value.)
Also included is an in-built “Client feedback tool” to collaborate with clients on eBook projects more easily (I love this feature).
What does it cost?
Normally $197, but the special launch price is a one-time $47.
Any upsells?
Yes, there are currently 4 upsells. You don’t really need all of them to use Sqribble, but they might come in useful depending on your situation and usage.
Here’s what they are:
Upsell 1 — Sqribble professional.
Unlock 150 more professional eBook templates (the best ones are in the professional version), graphics and even more ready—made content for all kinds of niches. (Just so you know, single templates from stock websites would cost you up to $450… for just ONE template!) Great for those that want more variety, content and heavy users.
Upsell 2 — Sqribble Prime.
Get 15 premium “limited edition” new eBook templates added to your Sqribble dashboard every month. This will increase your library over time, and make you stand out from other users. It works out to less than two bucks for a template! (Much cheaper than stock sites.) Great for moderate users.
Upsell 3 — Sqribble Fantasia 3D.
This includes 2-in-1 features.
1.) Unlocks a 3D cover creation tool inside your dashboard, allowing you to turn “flat” covers into lifelike, 3d covers. Great for getting more attention and making your books look and feel more “real.” People do judge a book by its cover, so something to keep in mind.
2.) Create “Flipbooks” that turn your eBooks into interactive and animated pages that turn like in real life. They can be linked to from anywhere online, as well as embedded on web pages with a single piece of code. This is really cool.
Upsell 4 — Auto Job Finder software.
If you’re going to be using Sqribble to create eBooks as a service to get paid, then Auto Job Finder is something that you need. It will automatically find you related jobs across various freelance websites and notify you so that you can fulfil them. A huge time saver and money earner.
The bad
— 3D cover is locked behind an upsell
The good
— Easy to use
— Glitch free
— Unlimited use (one-time payment)
The awesome
— Tons of beautiful templates
— Professional page layouts
— Automatic content (saves time)
— Flipbook creator (available through 3rd upsell)
Conclusion
There have been plenty of eBook creator tools in the past, but I haven’t seen any that make the entire process as smooth and quick as Sqribble. It’s surprisingly glitch free (most low-priced tools like this are buggy as hell) and it’s packed with some really cool features.
The templates are very nice looking, the layouts are professional and the fact you can automatically add content makes this a must have for anyone who’s tired of spending hours slaving over book design, writing content and screwing around with formatting.
The icing on the cake is the commercial license which is included. Normally vendors charge extra for this, so it’s a huge value added bonus. The additional provided done-for-you agency website is just over delivery.
Sqribble has been developed by Adeel Chowdhry, who is a well-known internet entrepreneur and best seller, with over ten years of experience and has previously created worldwide hits such as Pixel Studio FX which sold tens of thousands of units all around the world. He’s known for creating high quality professional solutions and I expect no less from Sqribble.
If you’re planning to create eBooks, reports or Kindle books in the near future, you owe it to yourself — and your sanity — to pick this up as it’s a tool that you’ll definitely need in your business.

Inquiry 1 -”DoDate”
DoDate
The concept put simply is a mobile game that turns the monsters of our life into much more approachable visual monsters for our game characters to fight, equipping them for battle along the way with encouragement and good preparation practices. The target audience is late high school and college age, but it is hoped that it is still usable for people outside of that age range, as I think people of any age could use a little help with getting things done.
Prototype link: https://projects.invisionapp.com/share/HPPZ87J2TMB#/
Tumblr media
Process
The idea for this project didn’t really come from putting two categories from the matrix together. Instead, it hit me around 3 AM while I was trying to sleep, and I wrote it down immediately. Fortunately it pretty easily fit into several categories, and aside from being very ambitious, seemed perfect for the experimental “adventures” we are embarking on.
Although it hit me randomly, that does not mean it was without background.I previously had a conversation with some of my friends in which someone expressed that they “wished they had the natural motivation I do.” What that friend didn’t realize about me is that my motivation and work ethic is the result of years of effort and task-managing practice. This made me wonder: how many other people in the world never try motivational strategies because they think you have to have some innate drive to do them or haven’t found a new way to visualize problems?
Because of this background, I decided to keep my friends involved in my process, from start to finish, interviewing 4 of my closest ones. At this stage it was important to recognize that everyone has different needs and has different ways of being motivated. What works for me might not work for other people. That’s why I turned my friends into “personas” or categories of hypothetical users, each from very different backgrounds (and countries!).
Tumblr media
The first thing I set out to do was come up with a versatile character design. Your character is supposed to represent you, and it felt important to be able to represent personalities well - another opportunity to use those personas, who in my case had a visual appearance to work with on top of specific needs. Although I couldn’t viably animate this project, I did try to develop my initial character design with potential for animation in mind. It’s important to note that the character base shown is not the only one that would exist in a full project, as it does not take into account a number of disabilities. The only reason I made just the one is that all of my friends are able-bodied. I can’t stress enough that the final product would be much more customizable and absolutely inclusive.
Tumblr media
The character design process itself was interesting. I would not call myself an experienced illustrator by any means, but it’s a skill that I would like to break into more. I have already been doing a lot of research on in the last 2 or 3 months due to the illustration-based web project I did last semester: https://www.supportzoos.com/ so luckily my reading list was already well stocked for this week sprint.
However, while the previously linked project was started in Photoshop, that clearly would not really be the best way to go for this project. I did block in the forms of the avatars in Photoshop, but I quickly moved the effort over to Illustrator. Once I had a functioning base, it really didn’t take that long to make characters for all of my personas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next thing I really thought through was game mechanics. At the end of Web Design a year ago, I was encouraged to keep learning about web design if it’s what I love doing, and I really took that to heart. I have an online library now just full of links to web resources. Last semester I read through the entire W3 Schools library on JavaScript, and made sure I could practice what I was learning at my internship.
While I definitely did not have the time (or the right programming language) to make this a functioning app, this understanding of programming logic, which does not really differ strongly from language to language, would let me think through how the game would functionally work. The prototype could visually show how it will work, but I would also be able to explain the logic to a developer, which I think would be important going forward with this project.
Tumblr media
I decided to go with a sort of “open world” style game even though the actual things the character can do are simple because it gives the user more choice over when and how they go about their battles. The idea is to make the user feel in control of the things they go up against in life, and I don’t know that this idea comes across if the user is stuck on a path with impending monsters in the distance.
To further make the user “in control” I also had the idea to add a silly question to the end of my quest creator. Sure, most of the input of your to-do list isn’t fun, but being able to add some little personal touch, like choosing horns, reminds you it’s a game.
The UI was strongly designed with user mood in mind. Quest creator had to be simple so putting in tasks doesn’t feel like a chore. Soft, warm colors were utilized with rounded, approachable shapes. All of it is designed to make the user more at ease, because the real life things these monsters represent are scary enough.
Tumblr media
I originally wanted to include so much more in my prototype. I think it may have accidentally come across as “humble-bragging” when I apologized during my presentation for not having more, but the apology was sincere. I felt like I’d produced the bare minimum for a proof of this concept, but that it could go so much further. Unfortunately the prototype process of something with infinite paths like a character creator is just... the worst. It’s a ridiculous amount of iterative panels and linking each of them is a pain. In contrast, it would take a fraction of the time to code, which is why I know that the idea is viable even if a fully functional prototype is not.
Tumblr media
In the end I had something like 85 different pages to link in InVision and it took quite a while, even using hotspot templates from page to page. I also kind of messed up and had to relink 16 pages I had done incorrectly the first time around. Still, I think being able to user the character editor was additive to my proof of concept and better conveyed my intended experience, so I will say the effort was worth it, even if my next inquiry will be simpler.
I should mention that somewhere during the prototyping process I got frustrated with the amount of panels and my ever so loving friends used my own philosophy against me, suggesting that this project is my monster to fight.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, I sent the prototype back to those four friends to see what they thought, and I’m happy to say that it was really well received. Most said they would definitely use an app like this, which is already a step towards helping motivate my peers to achieve their goals.
Tumblr media
However, if this did become a real app, retention of users would likely come into question. It’s not an addictive game, and it isn’t intended to be. My thought is even if the user only uses it a handful of times, they’re still building up the planning and goal-conquering mindset through memorable interaction, something that I hope will stick around long after the app is deleted.

Disk Analyzer Mac Os
If you’ve noticed that your Mac is a little sluggish lately, the culprit may be hiding in plain sight. The longer you use your computer, the more junk files and caches build up in the hidden nooks and crannies of your hard disk.
DaisyDisk is a disk analyzer tool for OS X that visualizes hard disk usage and allows to free up hard disk space Free up gigabytes of disk space in minutes using the visual interactive map that reveals the biggest space hogs on your disk. WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for various versions of Microsoft Windows. Note: if you are looking for an alternative for Linux, you are looking for KDirStat ( apt-get install kdirstat or apt-get install k4dirstat on Debian-derivatives) or QDirStat and for MacOS X it would be Disk Inventory X or GrandPerspective.
Tumblr media
Think about it..300MB here, 50MB here, 1GB there..soon, all the extra files become a drag on your computer. Ideally, you could free up a lot of memory if you got rid of this junk. The problem is that most digital junk is well-hidden and not grouped together very well. The solution is a specific type of utility app called a disk analyzer. These apps create a detailed map of what files are taking up room on your hard disk, making it easier to see where you can save space.
Disk Analyser For Mac
There are a ton of options out there, from the highly technical to the user-friendly. Because I’m generally intimidated by the inner workings of my computer, I took one of the more colorful and helpful options, DaisyDisk, for a test drive.
DaisyDisk features
DaisyDIsk packs a lot of functionality into a very pretty package. Here are some of its features:
Disk Analyzer Pro
Graphic interface
DaisyDisk uses an innovative circular design to show you the different files taking up space on your Mac. The display is color-coded, so you can easily distinguish between different types of data. Navigation is a snap: clicking on a section of the display zooms in and creates a new circular layout showing the chosen files in more detail.

List view
The main display is equally easy to navigate using the file list on the right-hand side of the screen. This gives you a clear idea of file names, folders, and sizes for easy reference. A series of tabs at the top of the screen lets you zoom back out with ease whenever you need it.

Disk Space Analyzer For Mac
Disk Selector
DaisyDisk isn’t limited to analyzing your Mac’s hard drive. It can give you a definitive breakdown of any drive connected to your computer, including external hard drives and backup disks. If you know what you’re looking for, the Scan Folder tool lets you focus on individual folders without having to dig through the main interface.
Collector
The app’s most satisfying feature is the file collector, which appears as a large dot in the bottom left corner. You can drag and drop any file here to target it for deletion. The app keeps a running count of how much space you’ll free up and presents you with a delete button. When you’ve collected all the trash DaisyDisk has identified on your drive, hit the Delete button to take it out for good.
Recommendations
DaisyDisk is capable of offering useful suggestions about which files can be deleted to free up more space. By flagging purgeable area and smaller orphaned items for deletion, it can help guide your disk cleanup.
If you’re curious about DaisyDisk, you can try a limited Trial mode for free. This version lets you scan most of your hard disk but won’t delete any files for you.
DaisyDisk is great for the casual Mac user looking to speed up their computer, but it’s not the only option. Another strong contender is CleanMyMac X, which includes a seamless disk speed optimizer that can achieve many of the same results with fewer steps.
Our team is working day and night to provide the best service for each and every customer so we are pleased to hear you are enjoying it. Vpn for macbook.
What makes DaisyDisk unique?
There are plenty of disk space analyzers out there, all jockeying for being the one for you. Some boast a wide range of features. Some combine the analyzer with lots of other tools. And some make smart suggestions about what you should delete.
DaisyDisk distinguishes itself from the pack with its stunning visual design, speed, and ease of use. Here’s the rundown:
Tumblr media
DaisyDisk is one of the nicest-looking disk analyzers available. The candy-colored wheel the app uses to represent your disk is visually engaging and easy to understand. At a glance, it lets you see which files are taking up the biggest “slice of the pie,” which makes exploration easy, and pleasing to the eye. The color contrasts also help illustrate the relations between different areas of your Mac.
It’s fast! Because of the amount of data they have to sift through, some disk analyzers can get slow. DaisyDisk, by contrast, is fast and fluid. Every click leads to a seamless reaction, and both the “quick scan” and standard scan functions work at an impressive pace. This helps ensure a smooth and pleasant workflow.
It’s easy, too. Because they deal with the deeper structures of your Mac, disk analyzers can be a little intimidating. DaisyDisk makes things look and feel friendlier and makes the deletion process fast and easy. Plus, building up a couple of gigabytes of junk in the collector before hitting the delete button feels like a real accomplishment.
DaisyDisk is good at representing and deleting files from your disk. This tool will help you organize space on your Mac more wisely and identify the heaviest folders. But, there is also another tool we can’t help but recommend when talking about the cleanup of your machine.
A full-featured toolkit like CleanMyMac X combines a DaisyDisk-like Space Lens feature with a wider range of tools, including a smart and powerful Uninstaller, System Junk cleaner and comprehensive Malware Removal modules. Try it for free here.
Is DaisyDisk safe?
As with any third-party software, it’s important to make sure that your disk analyzer comes from a reputable developer through a reliable channel. After all, to do their job well, disk analyzers need permission to access everything on your computer, and you want to be sure about the people you’re giving that access to.
DaisyDisk is distributed through the Mac App Store, so it’s been thoroughly vetted. If you don’t download it from the App Store make sure you download it directly from the developer’s website and not through a third party.
Another consideration with disk analyzers is how well they protect your essential files. DaisyDisk comes with built-in safeguards that keep the app from deleting critical system files. This is especially useful for all Mac users who are just trying to free up a little space: with these protections, you can purge junk from your Mac with confidence.
Users report that DaisyDisk support responds quickly and courteously to questions, which is always a plus for apps of this kind.
DaisyDisk review: The Verdict
DaisyDisk is a beautiful choice for a first disk analyzer. Its smooth interface helps you feel in control of a complex process, and its built-in limits help make sure you don’t make costly errors. Its feature set isn’t so extensive, but it’s a solid choice overall.

WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for various versions of Microsoft Windows. Note: if you are looking for an alternative for Linux, you are looking for KDirStat (apt-get install kdirstat or apt-get install k4dirstat on Debian-derivatives) or QDirStat and for MacOS X it would be Disk Inventory X or GrandPerspective.
Please visit the WinDirStat blog for more up-to-date information about the program.
On start up, it reads the whole directory tree once and then presents it in three useful views:
The directory list, which resembles the tree view of the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size,
The treemap, which shows the whole contents of the directory tree straight away,
The extension list, which serves as a legend and shows statistics about the file types.
The treemap represents each file as a colored rectangle, the area of which is proportional to the file's size. The rectangles are arranged in such a way, that directories again make up rectangles, which contain all their files and subdirectories. So their area is proportional to the size of the subtrees. The color of a rectangle indicates the type of the file, as shown in the extension list. The cushion shading additionally brings out the directory structure.
These profiles can be used in soft proofing, but also in conversion. The profiles available are the ones used everyday by our printers for all the prints made by Picto. https://loadtown982.tumblr.com/post/658004600275828736/icc-profiles-for-mac. If you originally purchased Fantastical 2 for Mac on the Mac App Store then download Fantastical on the Mac App Store. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used to make your previous purchase of Fantastical 2. Fantastical will automatically detect your previous purchase from the Mac App Store and make the existing features available.
NOTE: You will only receive the features that were available on the previous app you purchased. For example: Fantastical 2 for Mac had calendar sets, but Fantastical for iPhone did not.
There are also new features available for free to existing Fantastical 2 users:
New: 3 day weather forecast (powered by AccuWeather)
New: Full task support including Todoist and Google Tasks
New: Parser autocomplete recommendations for invitees, locations, calendars, and task lists
New for iOS: Apple Watch syncs over Wi-Fi and LTE, even if your phone isn't nearby (requires creating a free Flexibits account, but no Fantastical Premium subscription is needed)
New for iOS and iPadOS: Improved invitee support. Add your calendar accounts directly to Fantastical and receive and respond to invitations as well as G Suite and Exchange invitee lookup
New for macOS: Fantastical can now run in the background (receive notifications and sync even when Fantastical isn't running) and the mini window can now run over other full screen apps
New for macOS: Support for attachments on Google Calendar events
New for iPadOS: Full screen day, week, month, and year views
New: Universal app on iOS and iPadOS - If you are an existing iPad user, please download the new Fantastical from the App Store and your existing features will be made available
Why aren't my calendars from the Mac Calendar app appearing in Fantastical?
If you enable Fantastical's local Calendar option (under 'Apps' in Preferences > Accounts) then you will be able to view Calendar's built-in Birthdays, Holidays and Siri calendars. You will not be able to view any local calendars you have created in the Calendars app yourself. Instead, please add your calendar service (iCloud, Google, Exchange etc.) directly to Fantastical's Preferences > Accounts.
I'm having trouble opening Fantastical. How do I reset Fantastical and start over?
Are you having trouble with Fantastical crashing on startup, accounts missing, or just want to quickly remove your accounts and start over again? Here's how to do that:
Go to the Finder and press command-shift-G
Copy and paste the following into the window that appears: ~/Library/Containers
Move the folder named com.flexibits.fantastical2.mac to the Trash
Go to the Finder and press command-shift-G
Copy and paste the following into the window that appears: ~/Library/Group Containers
Move the folder named 85C27NK92C.com.flexibits.fantastical2.mac to the Trash
Restart your Mac
Open Fantastical and set up your accounts again
It is important that you restart your Mac after deleting the folder, otherwise Fantastical will not be able to save your settings!
For the macOS platform, you can install the Azure CLI with homebrew package manager. Homebrew makes it easy to keep your installation of the CLI update to date. Sindre Sorhus has done some great projects in the open-source. Best cli tool for mac. See your most-used commands with history, make aliases for them.
How do I use my Fantastical 2 license code in Fantastical 3?
If you previously purchased Fantastical 2 you can still use Fantastical 3 with all of your features from Fantastical 2 unlocked.
If you originally purchased Fantastical 2 from the Mac App Store then please be sure to download the latest version of Fantastical from the Mac App Store. If you originally purchased Fantastical 2 from the Flexibits Store and have a license code, download the latest version of Fantastical from our website. If you download Fantastical from the Mac App Store you will not be able to enter your license code.
Once you have Fantastical installed by downloading it from our website, enter your license code:
Open Fantastical
Click the Fantastical menu
Select Enter Fantastical 2 License
Enter your name and license code to unlock Fantastical
My iCloud Reminders lists are not syncing, and I see a yellow exclamation mark in Preferences > Calendars, what's happening?
This yellow exclamation mark means that you upgraded your Reminders database to the new format Apple is using for iOS 13. This makes iCloud reminders disappear entirely on Mac because it takes them off the iCloud CalDAV server and moves them to the new iCloud reminders format.
You must upgrade to iOS 13 and macOS Catalina to view upgraded Reminders. Also update to the latest version of Fantastical to view upgraded reminders.
Once you update to macOS Catalina you can enable reminders by doing the following:
Open Fantastical Preferences
Select the Accounts tab
Select Reminders
Make sure Show Reminders is checked
Select the Calendars tab
Make sure your lists are enabled in the Tasks section
Why does Fantastical not accept my iCloud password?
Apple requires app-specific passwords when using two-factor authentication with iCloud. Please see our documentation for more information on creating an app-specific password. You will not be able to connect to iCloud using Fantastical if you don't have two-factor authentication or two-step verification enabled.
Also, make sure are using your Apple ID's primary email address. You can check which email address is your primary address at appleid.apple.com.
Why do I only see one Join Call button for conference calls when I have multiple calls scheduled?
The Join Call button will only appear for your next, upcoming call. This has the advantage of reducing clutter in your calendar, and when future calls become due you can click the Join Call button to join these calls too.
Why aren't my events or accounts appearing when I can see them in the macOS Calendar app?
If you use a service such as iCloud, Exchange, Google, or Yahoo, you probably need to add that account directly to Fantastical. Open the Preferences and click the Accounts tab to ensure your accounts have been added. If you have On My Mac calendars that you want to use with Fantastical, Fantastical needs access your Calendars and Reminders. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and ensure Fantastical as allowed to access your Calendars and Reminders. Fantastical will not work if you disallow access to either of these. You also must allow access to Contacts in order for event invitations to work.
Why isn't Fantastical syncing with my iPhone or iPad?
If you're having trouble getting your calendars to sync between devices, take a look at our troubleshooting steps for syncing.
Why can't I add new reminders to Fantastical?
You don't have an account that supports reminders added to Fantastical. This usually happens when there's no iCloud account set up. Open Fantastical's preferences, click the Accounts tab, and add your iCloud account.
How do I show or hide Fantastical's mini-calendar and event list?
Click View > Show/Hide Sidebar to toggle the sidebar's visibility. Keep the sidebar enabled to quickly refer to a mini-calendar for the selected month and a list of your upcoming events and reminders. Hide the sidebar to give your main calendar view more space.
How do I select a specific calendar when entering an event or searching?
You can specify a calendar by using a slash (/) at the beginning or end of a sentence. Even easier, you only need the first character of a calendar. For example, /w or /h would create your event in the Work or Home calendars, respectively. You can be more specific if you have multiple calendars with similar names, such as /pe for Personal and /pr for Private.
Notifications are not working or are displaying duplicate alerts. How do I fix this?
You need to disable the Apple Calendar and Reminder notifications and enable Fantastical's notifications. Please perform the following steps:
Open Fantastical's Preferences > Alerts. Make sure the notification options you want are enabled.
Open System Preferences > Notifications. Disable all Calendar and Reminders notification options, including setting the 'alert style' to 'none'.
Whilst in System Preferences > Notifications, make sure that all Fantastical notification options are enabled.
Why are my new events being set as all-day events?
New events will be set to all-day if you don't specify a time in your sentence. If you want a timed event, simply add the time to your sentence, such as 'Meeting on Friday 3pm-5pm,' and Fantastical will disable all-day mode and set the event times.
How do I disable all alerts on a specific calendar or reminder list?
All notifications and alerts for a calendar or reminder list can be disabled by doing the following:
Open Fantastical's Calendar preferences
Right-click on the calendar or reminder list you don't want to receive alerts on and select Get Info
Check the box to Ignore Alerts
Why do I keep being logged out of Zoom?
If you are getting frequent prompts to log back into your Zoom account, then this is caused by a device limitation imposed by Zoom: Zoom can only be signed in to one computer and one mobile device at a time. Zoom's authentication system doesn't yet support multiple devices of the same type being able to sign in to the same account simultaneously. Thus, signing in to Zoom through Fantastical one one device will automatically log you out on another device of the same type. We have reported this limitation to Zoom.
For more information on this topic please refer to Zoom's help center
Are my accounts and events safe in Fantastical? Does Flexibits collect any personal data?
Please see our privacy page for more information.

Coding A Raffle List Editor in Java Using ArrayList
One night in the summer while looking over my decent game collection which you may have seen in the background of one of my “Video Game Sheriff” series videos, while having trouble deciding which of the many great games I wanted to play in that moment, I was inspired to write a program that could work like a hat where I could put in the titles of all my games then select one out at random.
youtube
You can get a glimpse of my collection in the background of some of my videos also posted on this site.
The resultant application is a console based editor which allows the user to build his own list of titles, edit them, delete them individually, clear them all, save them to a text file as well as read the text file made (or imported to the folder) prior to running the program.
I’m going to go through each part of the code and explain why I made the choices I did. I hope this can provide a good reference or template for your java projects.
My main method for accomplishing the editor and raffle program was centered around the use of arraylist along with some basic IO work. Let’s dive right in:
First I imported the libraries I thought I might need (you can figure this out as you go along of course)
import java.util.*; import java.io.*; import java.nio.file.*;
Variables
I decided to write this procedurally as one class since this is not a huge complex program being developed in a massive organization. I called my main class “Interface” but you can choose any name you want for yours. I decided to make a unique scanner object for each part of the program, but this may not be necessary in your project. I have laid out all the variables I used, though you may get by on more or less variables, considering the structure of my app, it will need to use at least one arraylist to function. Note that I use a Random class from the library in order to generate a random seed for the raffle feature.
public class Interface { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { Scanner selection = new Scanner(System.in); Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); Scanner edit = new Scanner(System.in); int currentChoice = 0; String currentGame = "null"; ArrayList<String> games = new ArrayList<String>(); Random raffleWheel = new Random(); String userEdit = "null"; int gameIndex = 0; int gameIndex4D = 0;
Menu LOOP
The top of my program begins with a welcome message and a menu in a while loop along with an input scanner object awaiting user input based on selecting from the menu (loop closes at end of program shown at end of article). Note that because choices 8 & 9 exit the program, I made that as the loop condition.
System.out.println("Welcome to the Backlog Gaming Sheriff's Super Raffler!\n"); while (currentChoice <= 7 || currentChoice >= 10){ System.out.println("\n1. Run the Raffler and make a random selection."); System.out.println("2. View game list"); System.out.println("3. Add new game to the list"); System.out.println("4. Delete a game from the list"); System.out.println("5. Edit a game on the list"); System.out.println("6. Clear Game List"); System.out.println("7. Read Game List"); System.out.println("8. Quit & Save List"); System.out.println("9. Quit without saving\n"); System.out.println("Please make a selection from the above options"); currentChoice = selection.nextInt();
Conditional Statements
Next up are the conditional statements that serve as the engine of the program. I first start with a potentially erroneous input, beyond the menu choices.
if (currentChoice > 9){ System.out.println("Error. Invalid input. Please try again.\n"); }
My next conditional statement is for choice #7 from the menu to read the game list, as that is often the first thing the user may need to do.
else if (currentChoice == 7){ try (BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("Game_List.txt"))) { String line; while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { games.add(line); } } }
The following conditional statement allows the user to delete a title from the list while providing the option to confirm or cancel the deletion of that item (more fail safe than C!) and provides the template for other options requiring submenu options. Note my use of ArrayList class’s ‘size’ function to determine the length of the array to base the validity of the index number on.
else if (currentChoice == 4){ int counter = 1; while (counter != 0){ System.out.println("\nPlease enter game index number"); gameIndex4D = in.nextInt(); if (gameIndex4D > games.size()){ System.out.println("\nError. Invalid index number."); } else if (gameIndex4D < 0){ System.out.println("\nError. Invalid index number."); } else counter = 0; } System.out.println("\nThe selected game title currently is:"); System.out.println(games.get(gameIndex4D)); System.out.println("\nAre you sure you want to delete the selected title?"); System.out.println("1. Confirm"); System.out.println("2. Cancel"); int userChoice = in.nextInt(); if (userChoice == 1){ games.remove(gameIndex4D); System.out.println("Selected title deleted."); } else if (userChoice == 2 || userChoice < 1 || userChoice >2){ System.out.println("Deletion Canceled."); } }
A simpler version of the above condition, allows the user to clear the entire list from the program (but not the file).
else if (currentChoice == 6){ System.out.println("\nAre you sure you want to delete all titles?"); System.out.println("1. Confirm"); System.out.println("2. Cancel"); int userChoice = in.nextInt(); if (userChoice == 1){ while (games.size() > 0){ games.remove(games.size()-1); } System.out.println("Game list cleared."); } else if (userChoice == 2 || userChoice < 1 || userChoice >2){ System.out.println("Deletion Canceled."); } }
To add a title, I simply used ArrayList class’s ‘add’ function.
else if (currentChoice == 3){ System.out.println("\nPlease enter game name"); currentGame = input.nextLine(); games.add(currentGame); }
In order to list out every title in the ArrayList for the user, I wrote a simple for loop to handle that task for each item in the list, printed with print line.
else if (currentChoice == 2){ for (int i=0;i<(games.size());i++){ System.out.println(games.get(i)); } }
The conditional statement after that handles the actual raffle feature, randomly selecting one title from the entire list.
else if (currentChoice == 1){ System.out.println("Running Raffler\n"); for (int i=1;i<4;i++){ System.out.print("."); } int raffleNum = raffleWheel.nextInt(games.size()); String raffleGame = games.get(raffleNum); System.out.println("\n" + raffleGame); }
Once again using the submenu template I wrote for the delete option, this condition was developed to allow the user to change the name of a title he already added based on the index number (with title 1 starting at index 0, title 2 at index 1, etc…).
else if (currentChoice == 5){ int counter2 = 1; while (counter2 != 0){ System.out.println("\nPlease enter game index number"); gameIndex = in.nextInt(); if (gameIndex > games.size()){ System.out.println("\nError. Invalid index number."); } else if (gameIndex < 0){ System.out.println("\nError. Invalid index number."); } else counter2 = 0; } System.out.println("\nThe selected game title currently is:"); System.out.println(games.get(gameIndex)); System.out.println("\nPlease enter replacement title:"); userEdit = edit.nextLine(); games.set(gameIndex, userEdit); }
For the quit and save option, I use a try/catch structure as the standard to prevent the IO process from having any problems. This code successfully writes the current program’s ArrayList to a designated text file in the program folder.
if (currentChoice == 8){ System.out.println("Goodbye!"); try{ PrintWriter gameList = new PrintWriter("Game_List.txt"); for (int i=0;i<(games.size());i++){ gameList.println(games.get(i)); } gameList.close(); } catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } }
End Of The Program
I end off the program with a simple goodbye message and the necessary closing braces to close out the while loop, main class and surrounding “Interface” class.
if (currentChoice == 9){ System.out.println("Goodbye!"); } } } }
Feel free to copy and paste all the above code in order to an appropriately named class and run it for yourself. Hopefully this can help you on your journey to learn Java or in your working project.
