Hiii everyone, say, how do your Hawkes go go about sharing their estate? If they do it at all? Is everyone free to come and go or are they more private? Or do they only invite their LI to stay? I'm curious!! :)
#lay rambles#my ocs#oc: liam hawke#oc: lilian hawke#both my hawkes are very social w their friends but i love comparing their boundaries around it#theres variation in rules for specific ppl with both of them ofc but theres still general differences#with liam its all very open and everyone can p much come and go whenever#they dont get extra keys (theyll get lost and he doesnt want randos finding them lol) but they know where to find the spare key#and bodhan and sandal and orana know to let them in whenever#hes very lenient in this this regard but he does have rules abt what he does and doesnt want them to do#mostly its about not making too much of a mess lol bc liam prefers to clean himself#(he doesnt trust the crew with his household and also he has particular ways of doing things and Hates when theyre done differently)#so things like keep your dirty garb at the entrance dont cook by yourselves (this was banned after they did it one (1) time lol) etc#also no fucking allowed. do that somewhere else for the love of the maker he does NOT want to walk into that in his own house#(and it also comes back to liam not trusting them with cleaning but also Not wanting to clean that up lol)#also he is not fond of them going into his room uninvited. most of the house is chill but that is *his* space#he accommodates these rules by e.g. having spare slippers and a little washing basin in the entrance hall for dirty shoes/feet#always makes sure to have snacks in stock that he knows they like#food will have notes abt what to leave for leandra/orana/etc but otherwise food is prepared with his friends in mind#and in general he'll make sure to adjust the space/routine in little ways to accommodate them#(air out when fen isnt there cus he doesnt like drafts; keep curtains open cus anders prefers open spaces; etc)#lilian on the other hand doesnt like when her friends come into the estate without a heads up (cept for emergencies)#but once they have her 'ok' its basically mi casa es su casa#dont yknow. overdo it and get too rowdy but otherwise do whatever#however. she also expects everyone to clean up after themselves. she aint here to play maid and youre all adults#also liam has a general 'please try to not be too wild when leandra is here' and lilian doesnt#not cos she doesnt care but cos leandra is bothered by sth she can speak up herself#oh and lilian uses the basement space as temporary refuge for anyone who needs it (mostly escaped mages)#also side note: both offered gamlen to stay but he refused (out of pride/remorse)#...this got long and i ran out of tag space lmfao so this is it for now xD

unpopular opinion but actually i love when heroes refuse to kill their enemies and no one is gonna make me not love it
#personal crap#i think it makes writers have to be more creative about how they solve problems#plus it allows you to play with the morality of killing and what ways to fight are ok#(doctor who and su do that a lot obviously and imho it slaps idc what anyone else says)#and have stone cold badass moments of like emotional superiority (vash from trigun does that a fair bit#and my favourite recent example is how in gotg 3 rocket refuses to kill the high evolutionary bc he knows he's already won#and doesn't want to do to him what he did to lylla teefs and floor)#when heroes do just kill their enemies in cold blood it feels kinda boneheaded to me by comparison#not to mention a lot of purity culture weirdos loooove when villains are just one-dimensional evil dicks who have to be destroyed#bc that plays really nicely into their morality#oh and i just thought of another one: in rotj luke refusing to kill palpatine to take his place is so cool#especially in contrast to how in tros rey just kills him like it's nothing even though they spent the whole trilogy#building up the idea her allegiance to the light side of the force isn't as strong as most jedi#only to go 'nah if you kill palpatine everything's good'

#every Christmas i think about the time we came home from mass and my father said “finally! now we can relax.” and sat down at his computer#and played video games for the next three hours while my mother and sister and i stood six feet away from him in the kitchen making#200 pierogis.#it’s crazy considering the amount of stuff he gets done for him on a daily basis that I would never even think would be done for me by anyo#like bed made for him/all meals/all dishes/food put on his plate for him because he refuses to do it himself/pretty much all errands#whenever he wants tea he just says that want out loud and it gets brought to him by magic#i mean or anything else! he once said “did you say we were having cappuccinos today?” just to no one in particular and we all knew no one h#had said anything of the sort. and then he was given one!#of course he goes to work from 8-6ish every day but other than one day a week it’s remote and has been for years and i can hear him#he is pretty much never not on the phone gossiping with someone#and i don’t begrudge him having a not physically intensive job or anything but im just trying to think of the things he has to do#he makes my mother mow the lawn. i do it when i am home because i think that’s disgraceful.#if my mother begs hard enough he'll do the least amount of yard work possible if it’s something we can’t physically do by ourselves.#but on a daily basis it’s just go to work/eat the breakfast brought to you/eat the lunch brought to you/come downstairs eat the dinner made#for you/play video games until you go to bed in the bed that was made for you in the morning#and on non work days it’s just eat/video games/bed#and like all this to say#he complains more and has a worse attitude than anyone I have ever known in my life#whenever he encounters a minor inconvenience he's talking about how it never ends and he never gets a chance to rest for once#literally any day that’s not spent in complete and total stagnation is considered a failure#he hates when my mother and sister and i are happy like we can’t even play music and laugh in the kitchen while we cook and clean up after#meals because it distracts him from his video games and his YouTube videos about video games and the war in Ukraine#he gets mad when we laugh too much lol like dude you’re pretty lucky you have daughters who can have fun while doing the dishes#considering you haven’t done them in like 20 years#word to the ladies out there btw: my parents used to clean up after dinner together when they first got married. so watch out lmao

So my 2nd playthrough of PLA is going... interesting....namely because I am trying to 100% the game and complete the pokedex before the post-game. And I'm realizing it's actually. Quite hard.
And only now I realize on my 2nd playthrough about 80 hours in that a lot of the services in Jubilife are actually really useful. Partly because I have been playing this game a certain way. So I need to ask a second opinion.
Moonie's Raw PLA Playthrough:
Never buying anything in the shops, including the store, craft materials, Ginkgo guild, etc. Instead farming all of your materials in the wild for extra immersion (and also because I'm a cheap bastard)
No using Zisu's training grounds either. No tutoring moves or mastering moves with seeds of mastery.
No using items. Nothing that changes stats in battle or gains EXP like rare candies. Only using potions/revives IF URGENT. Not necessarily a Nuzlocke, it's just cheaper to just warp to a campsite bed.
No using items helping catch Pokemon either. No smokebombs, scatter bangs, etc. Just sneaking.
Refusing to use pokemon other than the starter. You can still have pokemon, but only as meat shields or trying to do research tasks for the Pokedex.
No battling the Frenzied Nobles in the boss fights. You only need to throw the balms. This includes the final Primal Dialga/Palkia fight and the final Arceus fight.

#sorry i refuse to embarrass myself by making a post but i have nobody else to talk to about this#experiencing the biggest reach of my life but i need to share it but i don’t have anyone to share it with so. you guys#but anyway i find it interesting how alice is given that same lighting will is given in the van#or just the ones that make him ‘the light’ y’know? alice gets that lighting after she sees the dead rabbit but much more intense#and im working on the It parallel stuff right#like It is definitely representing both henry and the mf as a combined force and that’s a whole other thing#and It only has one natural enemy: maturin. maturin is Its brother#iirc maturin is heavily associated with bright lights#maturin also has the ability to create new galaxies/dimensions#so what if alice was the one who created the UD somehow#It’s ability is many things but the most important one is being the Eater of Worlds#hence maturin being Its natural enemy because It can never achieve its goal as long as maturin creates more worlds#henry wants to ‘fix’ the world and alice introduced a new world that could be tampered with and later need ‘fixing’#which makes it funny that henry is the one who fucked it up in the first place#or it could be a demonstration of how henry’s idea of a perfect world destroys it whereas alice will keep introducing more worlds that#would’ve been fine without the tampering of human nature#which could also play into the multiple UDs theory#but also that makes the connection to will even more interesting if we consider will’s powers to be the merging of worlds#if he can bring them together he may very well be able to push them apart#which would make him another enemy of henry by making these worlds untouchable#‘but how would both the kids have powers’ well considering virginia’s ties to brenner and some of the filming choices made i think it isn’t#too far out to say she might have powers which is how her children got them#she made brenner fix her and tried to make him fix henry too but alice’s abilities would have been unnoticeable bc they work outside of the#RU#and if alice is a character who ends up returning she could be the one to teach will how to use his powers#cause who else would be able to know how to do that#this is very out there however i needed to get it out of my head#it parallels

Same flatmate that only seems to vacuum at 3am wants to complain about me playing music in the kitchen alone for the half an hour I'm cooking
