I haven't thought much about Jonathan Sims for long enough that I kinda feel like I've started thinking about him a little more divorced of the emotional attachment I might have had once. Because I just saw a post lamenting his slow descent into inhumanity and losing his identity, becoming the archivist rather than Jonathan Sims, losing his friends, his house, everything he loves.

But is that true? That put upon head archivist persona he had in the beginning, was that really him? The way I see it, real life has already leached him of any identity he might have had, he didn't really have friends, Tim and Sasha clearly weren't, as we saw in their season 5 recording. He chose to make them his subordinates over beib friends, pushed away Georgie, he became so desperate for approval that he agreed to take a job he clearly has no idea how to do, let his stress over it isolate him from everyone around him, had a desperate need to assert himself in the beginning of every recording as 'head archivist of the Magnus institute london'. Forget about even having a home, he often slept in his office for heaven's sake.

The way I see it, this story is about him finding himself, finding the perfect place for himself in this already doomed world that was already strangling him and everyone around him. He became the Archivist, no longer needing to connect himself to some godforsaken capitalistic institute to identify himself. found his role, he enjoyed its power, even admitted to it. He found love. He found purpose in trying to save the world. In the end he was surrounded with the friends he made along the way (as friendly as they could be under the circumstances). He was finally allowed to make real choices, have true responsibility over himself and not be some tired corporate worker, part of a tired pointless system. Sure his choices weren't that great, and getting there was through outside manipulation and his own ignorance and he had to suffer immensely and pay an awful price of what we like to call his "humanity" but he Became and found what we all look for - his calling.

"It's still me" he says in the last episode. Because he is. He lost nothing and gained everything. Even dying in his lover's arms.

Forget about being human. In the end Jon achieves apotheosis and truly becomes Jonathan Sims

Listen it's been a while and my memory is bad but. And hear me out.

I still think about that Big Finish story where the Eleven (or at least an incarnation of them, idk) is trying to destroy the Doctor and for the whole time, there's some Master(s?)in the background, one of which(?) I'm reasonably sure was maybe Missy, and you're like "huh idk what they're up to but they're acting shady" and then their entire role in the ep seems to be that they swoop in at the very end, when the universe is saved and the Doctor's off to be a very stranded sad man, to kill the Eleven and go like "The Doctor already has an arch enemy, back the fuck off". Like. Big Finish gets it.

"Is faith all we have as a weapon against/The universal good and bad." something something the fact that one of Egwene's first mentions of Pelor/religion is her telling Bev she's been having a lot of faith issues recently. Something something thinking that god was going to protect not only herself and her parents but also Erlin only for him to get kidnapped. The entire bravery bit and the fact that she has never really had a choice but to be brave. She has been sleepwalking with a bow and arrows and a belt full of poison. Ngl "She says she's worried about me/Maybe she should be" is such an interesting line for both of the kindleafs, since Erlin has that acknowledges something might be wrong but doesn't want to be a burden on the people around him thing going on and Egwene has the acknowledges something might be wrong but she's supposed to be the strong one and doesn't want to show vulnerability deal. I don't think any of what I just typed makes any sense but I see your visions. I see your visions exactly.

I love how every time demons appear on dndads everything gets super fucking COOL like. the whole long drawn out (and super metal) scene in ep 58 of demon jodie and nicky leaving... that moment in s2 ep 9 where nicky is introduced... the music at the start of s2 ep27... 

they do the vibes SO well and i love it every time.

you don't seem to have a super strict set of steps, keeping the process fluid. i've also noticed that in other artists i admire. is that just something that came with familiarity with art?

but yeah, I think it does come with just being familiar with art. like, I think at first it's absolutely easier to start with guidelines and step by steps until you feel like you want to try something new ! I started off with lots of circles and shapes and guidelines before I started feeling more comfortable branching out and trying things myself before getting used to my art style and being able to just kinda ... go with the vibes, y'know ?

Seems The Adventure Zone is done with its Dracula season... I haven't listened to any of it yet. I enjoyed Steeplechase well enough. I should find the time to sit down and listen to it some day. Sounds like their next thing is "Abnimals"? How dare they steal the letter A from Amnesty, which was pretty good
