might fuck around and ask the man I've been dating for almost 5 months, but who probably doesn't feel anything for me that I feel for him, what his thoughts on relationships and sex are. because he apparently does like me enough to sleep next to me approximately once a week and message me daily and kiss me outside of work where people that know us could absolutely see and let it be a known thing that we're together, but apparently not enough to label us or talk sex or even really respond if I say something flirty??? and I really wanna know where the fuck he thinks we are and if we're even on similar pages there????

Have any other Galladay shippers gone diving into HSR lore cause you're a little too obsessed with the game and ended up thinking about how you could create parallels between not only Sunday and Dominicus, but also Gallagher and Aelenev (and that you could make it gay)? Or is it just me who's spending too much time wishing we had more lore about the Harmonic Strings?

Putting my ramblings under the cut cause it's long and there's some spoilers in case anyone still hasn't finished the Penacony quests

Sunday and Dominicus, that's pretty obvious. It's the Wisher of the Harmonious Choir that he attempts to bring forth at the Charmony Festival, using his power as well as the Order to spread Ena's influence among all those slumbering within Penacony. When talking about Dominicus, "A Hymn of Charmonic Strings" says "Prayers you suckle from the millions gathered here, and the masses' heartstrings you play," which could very well allude to Sunday's plan of placing everyone into the most perfect dreams they could wish for, dreams they would never wish to wake from. And like, apparently the name Sunday is even derived from Dominicus or something, according to the etymology notes on the HSR wiki page.

But that same readable mentions Aelenev, the Commander of the Eternal Centurion, and first of all that's just a cool fucking name in general. Second of all, there's several points that can stand out when looking upon the full section of the hymn,

"O, Great One of Paradise, Caress this scripture that is stained by blood on the battlefield, and kiss my longsword of bone and soul, Life is howling, and the sharp blade of streaming colors hangs high. Aelenev, do you hear? The soldiers' bones are buried at the end of the world. Comrades' whisper united, and the gospel can be heard for miles long, Blissful rain pours out thus, and one person equals to thousands. Thought they be the invincible steeds and death, they too long for their home deep in their soul."

The main part that I choose to look at is "one person equals to thousands," as there's lots of ways that could be interpreted. There is, of course, the fact that the Family is basically a hivemind, and also how Aelenev was summoned on one occasion and his sword was "unsheathed from the scabbard of 4,630,000 Hounds" which I take to mean as sort of manifested from their collective minds and wills, so to speak. Similar to how Gallagher is a lie manifested from the traits of 52 loyal Family members, no? And longing for a home deep in their soul, soldiers' bones that have been buried, a scripture stained by blood, I personally think that those could easily be taken as references to Mikhail, the revolution that led to Penacony being formed in the first place, and how Gallagher misses those he used to know. Or maybe not references, but they certainly could hold a similar meaning. I don't know, I'm not a fucking literature major or anything, I study animals and nature. This is just me being a massive nerd on the internet.

Anyways, this is mostly just to wonder if anyone else has/is thinking of using these parallels to make really gay stuff. Sunday should get more weird and fucked up with his affection in fics, because I think it would be really fun to see. Have him call Gallagher "my Aelenev" or something, make him want to craft Gallagher into a wonderful embodiment of the Harmony the same way as he attempted to usurp Dominicus' power. Get weird with it!

Or hey go a step further and make yaoi about the Harmonic Strings themselves. I'd do it. I'd fucking do it. I'm insane about this game's lore sometimes.

Also: Robin could be a parallel for Constantina, the singer of the Panacoustic Theater. That just leaves Beatriz, the merrymaker of the Blissful Ball, who I suppose could be parallel to Sparkle? Not to say that all four of them need to be represented by members of the Penacony cast, I'm just coming up with random thoughts about it.

Pure fluff scenario: Damien is chatting with gn!Reader while they're making diner for the both of them, when he realizes he's been basically living at their place with the amount of time he spend/stuffs he brought there. It just isn't really "official" (yet). Some hugs are required

if this world... were mine. damien would be living with us (obvi i mean reader, mostly me bc my blog nd im obsessed with my harem) in an apartment and he'd refer to it as "his friend's" apartment, because he just moved out of his parents house and is trying to get his own place and then one thing leads to another and turns out he's our husband now.... so lets see that huh?!

Damien is washing up dishes you have both used for prep while you stir what's in the pot. How many times has he done this? How many dinner shave you both prepared and ate together since he moved out of his parents house. Hell he even moved his streamer setup into your office space because you had the extra room for it. You already knew though. If anything you were just waiting to see if you were both still friends and he's just a house mate or are you both together now. There were a few thoughts that made you second guess if it was a good idea too. Like wouldn't this be trauma bonding if you were both survivors of camp nevermoor? Well technically no, because he isn't freddie, but he was a vessel for freddie... But on the same note isn't it kinda funny for your new boyfriend to be some guy you bonded with over a very traumatic and stress inducing summer? Yes. Complex, but you wanted it regardless. "Hey," He finally speaks up, "Why... haven't you- nevermind."

You look at him confused, "Kicked you out, Urged you to get an apartment or shown you lease openings or houses that are dirt cheap?" He nods and you just smirk, looking back at the pot of stew, "Because I like your company Dami, I thought we've been over this." Damien smiles to himself, and you don't miss the slight blush on his cheeks at your reassurance. After dinner you two do your usual routine of parallel play in the office, but before bed you hug him from behind. "Damien, you can stay here as long as you want." He freezes and as you ramble on about how much you love his presence, how much you love him, the little things around the house that he does. How he organizes the dishwasher, and even the cabinets or drawers. Whenever you guys hang out in the office he points out to his viewers that yes you are in the room and will call you over and even they think you're married. How he responds to the little dry erase board you have on the fridge instead of talking about the grocery list. Damien turns around in your hug and engulfs you within his arms, face and hair resting on your shoulder, as he tries to hide his slight breakdown. He wasn't sad or panicking, he was elated. "I love your company, and I love you too..." He says and lists off your quirks that he enjoys and think is helpful around the shared home you two unknowingly but slowly created.

I just found you venom!steph stuff and I absolutely love it! Would you be willing to share a bit about this whole idea?

BOY WOULD I. I’ve got a few things I need to wrap up before I can really dig in properly to this AU but I have SO MANY IDEAS.

The basic concept is that it’s a canon divergence at the end of War Games, where Steph nearly dies (as normal) but instead of the whole faking-her-death-and-going-to-Africa-with-Leslie thing she instead acquires a symbiote that bonds to her and heals her and now she’s super strong/fast/tough/agile and can basically shapeshift and they proceed to make it everyone’s problem.

So you’ve got Steph being angry and traumatized by the whole tortured-almost-to-death thing and also dealing with the fact that Tim is right back out as Robin as if nothing happened to her. (Nobody is a reliable narrator in this story, I should mention right up top.) And then I’m still solidifying exactly what I want to do with it, but my current thinking for the symbiote is that it’s also had its own run in with Batman (probably without Bruce really knowing about it or recognizing what it was) and has its own grudge, so you get that great relationship of the two of them bonding and then proceeding to be just the worst influence on each other, specifically with regard to their Bat Hate. Plus Steph knows who all the Bats are and they all think she’s dead. It’s a great time for everyone!

(I’m definitely playing fast and loose with the Marvel canon half of things and mostly just inserting a symbiote into the DC universe, and not necessarily THE Venom symbiote although that’s easier shorthand. But there are also definitely some parallels there between like. The idea of Steph blaming Batman for everything that’s happened and how that’s maybe not entirely unfair but also she definitely did make her own mistakes that led to things vs. Eddie’s whole thing with blaming Peter for ruining his life even though he did, objectively, mess things up his own self Peter is just how he got caught.)

(Also there’s definitely some parallels between Steph and Eddie in terms of the whole “having a shitty dad and being desperate for approval and willing to do some unwise things in trying to get it” thing. Just saying. I think that’s part of the whole “give her a symbiote” thing for me is that she spent so long trying so hard to be good enough and gain the approval of others and falling short and I think having that immediate connection where she doesn’t need to do anything different or be better by some impossible metric, she’s already exactly what the symbiote needs and wants, would be a big factor in her bonding so closely with it.)

So yeah, Steph with a symbiote who knows who all the Bats are while they think she’s dead becomes a real Problem for them, obviously. They’re pretty anti-Bat, between Steph’s recent history and the symbiote’s own experiences, so that’s a fun thing to play with, but then there’s also lots of other complicated relationships because obviously it’s not JUST Batman out there.

I think Tim especially is a messy one and her feelings about him swing pretty wildly depending on the moment. I imagine she probably spends some time needling him about her own death trying to get a reaction out of him, which he probably is trying to not give her because he doesn’t know yet who she is and thinks she’s just a new villain who knows way too much about them, so I’m sure that goes great. (On the other hand, I can definitely see her doing like a surprise coming-to-the-rescue thing, partly because it is still Tim and she doesn’t actually want him dead or seriously injured and partly because it’ll throw him off his game and be funny to psych him out.)

Cass is probably a little more straightforward because their relationship wasn’t quite as messy before she died but I also think there was probably a bit of resentment Before, where Cass excelled without any apparent effort at so many things that mattered to them while Steph struggled to even slightly keep up, which is probably only heightened by everything else that’s happened. On top of that there’s Cass’s extremely inflexible moral code causing problems. I do think Cass is the one who actually realizes who Steph is, because she’s different now and it’s wrong in a kind of uncanny valley way but still recognizable. (This does not immediately fix anything, because Cass still has very firm ideas of what Steph SHOULD be doing or not doing and Steph, at least at first, does not want to hear it.)

My thought is that there is an eventual shift where Steph reconsiders things and decides she doesn’t want to keep doing what she’s doing. (It’s probably helped by the fact that she misses Cass, and sometimes Tim, but that’s only part of it. I think the other part is her realizing she’s a little too like her own father and not wanting to be that anymore.) Which is obviously a long and messy ordeal to reach any level of reconciliation after everything.

(I confess I haven’t decided how the whole “Jason’s Red Hood Rampage” plot point fits into this AU. XD Eventually I’ll sit down and decide if/how I want any intersection there but. We’ll see. I feel like Steph would have absolutely negative patience for any of Jason’s bullshit given her own experience, honestly.)

The really fun part of this (well, one of them, but the one I’ve already written a couple times because it’s obviously the part my brain really latched onto) is the idea of Steph in this universe after Bruce’s death, because she definitely has some feelings about that, but also her relationship with Dick (such as it is) is not at all the same thing as her relationship to Bruce. But now Dick is Batman and there’s some instinct-level reactions there, especially on the symbiote’s part, so I think that’s fun.

PLUS we get the addition of Damian, and I am always and forever on my Steph and Damian bullshit. And I’m just very fond of the idea of slightly-more-anti-hero-than-villain Venom!Steph finding the mean, stabby child adorable and deciding that if there has to be a Robin (because she can’t really stop them) she’s going to make damn sure there aren’t any more dead ones after her.

(Of course, if you’re following the canon course of events that will go super great eventually, but shhh it’s fine.)

(Dick, obviously, has more than enough going on in his life and isn’t thrilled about this but if it means the quasi-reformed-villainous-alien-goo-monster is looking out for Damian instead of attacking him he’s sort of willing to accept that for the time being.)

This is probably very rambly despite my efforts to organize my thoughts a bit, but I just have so many feelings about the idea of Steph getting superpowers and a symbiote buddy and getting to have a little villain arc and a subsequent redemption(ish) anti-hero-y arc and all the mess of her relationships to the various Bats. I have a ton of little moments and ideas floating around and jotted down and one of these days I’m going to clear my current WIPs enough to really sit down and work on it and I cannot wait.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

before KH3, Luxord was alredy one of my favorite org members. hes so funny and weird and iconic. he looks like he would wear those dad sports sunglasses and a t-shirt with a bad divorce joke on it, but he speaks like if you trapped a classically-trained English actor with a hyphenated name in a Hyperbolic Balatro Chamber for 15 years. he has an absolute blast being a Villain but he isnt evil in the slightest. he just wants to play his card games and have a good time.

and then KH3 introduces the context of him having an undefined "ancient keyblade legacy" that forces you to consider the idea that he might have pathos. an inner world, complex feelings. what kind of guy talks the way he does? why is he Like That?? [my answer is autism.]

KH3 also makes him much more complex by iterating on the role he played in previous games. he spends most of his time in Days wondering aloud about what's going on and wishing he had more information, but mostly just doing his job, working as a low level mook, minding his own business. in 3, he's had enough of that. Xigbar doesn't realize until it's too late, and Vexen doesn't seem to realize at all—though whether Luxord realizes what Vexen's up to is a different story.

i dont even know about dislike. if i had any reason to suspect that the card metaphors thing was an act, i might be concerned about that—i think it's funnier and more interesting if it isnt—but besides that, nope! just love this guy, wanna see more of him.

wow this is. a lot. anyway list of prompts!

Marian:

1 - yes marian has a colour! it's green. perhaps this is because of the maid marian associations in my head, but it's definitely green

10 - marian does wear jewellery, but not super often. one of her art history friends has a hobby of making (historically accurate) jewellery, so marian's jewellery is a little out there. on the occasion. she's much more of a gold person - she rocks the green-and-gold aesthetic.

27 - marian does not have a favourite sport. yet. she might get one later. she likes to go to museums a lot, so she jokes that one half of her exercise comes from museums and the other half comes from running around her university campus.

(Pre-Amnesia) Felix:

2 - he likes jazz a lot! he also listens to borderline noise - like. it's not noise because it has some melodic elements, but to the uneducated listener it's noise.

5 - ohh felix dressed practical through-and-through. marian is a little bit of a fashion person, but it's weird fashion, right? marian has the historically-accurate-jewellery and almost always wears green and gold. felix did not know a "colour pallette" unless that colour pallette was filled with neutrals.

21 - felix did not look it. but he actually loved walking through city markets! his favourite is a weekend market that he went to every weekend. some of marian's favourite clothing (and a lot of her yarn) comes from that market!

Elora (Post-Amnesia Felix):

2 - music is one of the things elora shares with felix. they haven't had the time to discover noise (because elora likes full-on noise) yet - it's a little more niche - but elora adores jazz.

5 - elora dresses a lot like felix in the beginning - particularly because they already had the same wardrobe but mostly because of the amnesia part. however, once elora starts coming into her own, she starts wearing a lot of blues and purples. and sometimes she borrows some of marian's gold stuff.

28 - oh this is difficult. elora spends a lot of time with people via "parallel play" type things (which they share with felix). you'll notice that i wrote marian and elora spending time originally by knitting together, and such. that's what felix did, too, except he was writing while marian was knitting. if they don't like you, they'll spend time

Elliott:

5 - elliott favours warm colours, even if he has a rather cold personality. elliott also goes for understated yet classy styles, so he's very well dressed but not in-your-face at all.

28 - elliott is much more of a physical touch person, so often when him and felix were doing their "parallel play" kind of thing, elliott would also have his head on felix's shoulder, or something like that. one of the signifiers that elliott doesn't like someone is that he'll never touch them unless it's to be polite. with his friends he's very touchy-feely.

31 - elliott loves gifts, but usually of the smaller variation - things like 'i found this rock that reminded me of you' or 'this picture makes me think of you'. that kind of thing. something that elora notices after a while is that felix always had rocks and stuff in his pockets, specifically because they reminded him of elliott and he wanted to give them to elliott the next time he saw him, which felix learned because elliott likes those kinds of gifts. elliott also likes flowers.

I saw your post on Widowjest and Fjorester and I wanted to make a hear me out lmao

TLDR: this became a Fjord and Jester mini essay lol all I just wanted to point out was that it's not just Fjord changed by their relationship. And honestly even with everything I said, I can totally see why people would prefer another dynamic, and I respect that.

I also like Caleb and Jester together, I think they're very sweet to each other. But I also like Fjord and Jester, and I don't necessarily agree with the idea that only Fjord is changed by their relationship/dynamic. And if anything, a lot of Fjord's changes happen with Caduceus and Wildmother. That realization that the position he was in was not healthy and trying to find a way out of it. Jester mostly plays support, that message with Vandren being the catalyst of his change and everything after is mostly Jester hyping him up (also I'm just obsessed with that conversation of theirs in the kiln, neither of them missed a beat, Travis and Laura killed it). In turn, Fjord mostly plays guardian to Jester and her stuff with Artagan and Babenon. Jester asks Fjord about whether it would be selfish of her to spend time with the Gentleman and he's the one to reassure her and direct the conversation of the group about that later on. He is the one most openly concerned about the Traveller, but he also encourages Jester to talk about what it is exactly he does for her (the whole say three things thing) and thinks it's a good thing. But still, a lot of that development is through Jester's effort.

Honestly I'm not sure if I make sense hahahaha. I just wanted to highlight that they do affect each other, and that by the time the confession happens they have grown enough to make it so satisfying to watch. Fjord working towards becoming himself, what he wants to be without copying someone to be accepted; Jester showing more of her vulnerabilities and loneliness without worrying about putting a happy front. Also, the parallel of Fjord trying to find Vandren and Jester looking for her father then both finding family with the Nein is very sweet. I think exasperated-but-still-hopelessly-in-love Fjord that can both pull Jester back from going too far but also will entertain her regardless with chaotic-but-knows-when-to-be-sweet Jester that is open with her love remind Fjord the value of life are goshdarn cute together.

I think it's one of the more realistic relationships in CR, with them starting as confidants, with how they start to really see the other during the jellyfish scene, their trust in each other being shaken up and down while on the sea and in Rohsana, then it being built back when they start being more honest with each other, accepting each other for who they are and are becoming. Jester's infatuation turning into genuine friendliness and then love; Fjord's obliviousness turning into affection and then love. A slow build up where neither really depended too much on the other for their individual growth. That confession scene was 10/10 honestly. Fjord in the prev episode not wanting to do anything without dealing with his past but all of it going out the window when Jester's life force got taken, and him being the one to really highlight how wild it is other than compliment her. Him starting with showing his concern for her life, how much he cares about her, Jester trying to play it off but Fjord really going for it. Jester remaining firm in what she wants to do with Aeor. It's just so damn good lmao

first three episodes of lotrop s2 dropping in an hour, I am making the bad decision to continue watching despite liking season 1 less and less as time goes on, hoping beyond hope to see the celebrimbor and sauron dynamic done justice. this hope only exists because shadow of mordor also did it so crappily that this show actually has a low bar to compare to and yet it still may fall short. anyways. general wishlist:

celebrimbor/sauron dynamic has to Hit. My negative prediction is that it is going to largely involve sauron mind-manipulating celebrimby which will suck. I'm hoping that it will be mostly if not entirely sauron playing on celebrimbor's ambition which was always my interpretation

I want Feanor Mentions. I'm guessing we're going to get celebrimbor talking about how feanor is an inspiration at least in part, but I want SOMEONE to bring up how fucked feanor ended up being even if it's not in extreme details. something like "and yet his pride was his downfall" or whatever. increases the parallels between feanor and celembrimbor

galadriel/adar teamup will be sick I think I put that in one of my s1 posts and I think it might actually be happening? I hope we get more elf+orc theology stuff because that's cool and if you're gonna put galadriel in this kind of role we might as well get some orc theology out of it.

I want to say I want sauron and galadriel to not interact at all but we know it's going to be happening. I hope that they don't build on that as much as they did in s1 because if they have an even close to canonical last alliance then galadriel is not going to be in that final showdown directly against him and then WHAT ARE YOU SPENDING ALL THIS TIME DEVELOPING THIS ENEMYSHIP FOR. This whole part of how they handled the dynamic between galadriel (who was ONE OF THE ONLY ONES NEVER DECEIVED BY SAURON) and sauron so far has sucked so I'm really hoping they kinda tone that down

the hints at possible romantic arc were actually the worst part of the season and if they do confirm even one-sided romantic interest on either part then I am dropping the show immediately and possibly even putting up a whiny review

second worst part of s1 was the silmamithril and I'm hoping that either gets deconfirmed or at least not brought up again. the only way they can justify this is if they bring maedhros into it. and I know they won't.

I want gil-galad to do more things and I want him to be interesting. also parentage reveal at the most unexpected time would be hilarious but I don't think that would actually happen

there are other arcs than the elves?? ummmm . I want tom bombadil to do something horrifically tone breaking. I don't think he will though

Also I made this post after season 1 and we did get a) more focus on celebrimbor (at least the impression I get from the trailers, don't know if it will be up to my unreasonably high standards for him) and b) galadriel with her hair in a braided crown. so at least I will be winning a little more than I thought I would be.

Ludwig (1973)

I went through so much trouble to watch this stupid film and it took me so long to watch it because its four hours long and I kept getting headaches while watching and had to keep taking breaks, but it was all worth it because this film was so unbearably unbelievably good, its my favorite thing in this whole marathon so far by a long shot

Its so good Im actually having trouble talking about it because I truly have no complaints, but I cant just talk about what I liked either because its basically everything. The pacing was great, it could get slow at times but it was never unengaging and if it werent for my headaches I wouldve definitely been able to watch the whole film in one sitting, which is high praise coming from my low attention span-ass. I feel like I never really mention the cinematography in these posts because its usually just fine in a very unremarkable way, but it was absolutely amazing in this one, the framing and composition of every scene felt so deliberate, its like every shot was a painting.

The acting was incredible, I was a little unsure about some of the performances initially because this is an english-language film mostly starring actors who are very noticeably not native english-speakers and I thought it would interfere with their acting because idk, some of the early line-deliveries had that kind of stilted kid-having-to-read-something-outloud-in-english-class quality to them, but that ended up not being the case at all. Helmut Berger as Ludwig was especially great, he did such a good job capturing him, both in the very beginning when he's this naive romantic/idealist and later in the film when he becomes more disillusioned and unhinged. He was also very babygirl, similar to the actor who played him in Ludwig — Glanz und Ende eines Königs (1955), so I liked that. Romy Schneider of the Sissi-trilogy played Elisabeth here as well and I really liked her too, she's still very charismatic and I think she did a great job with this more flawed and less romanticised portrayal.

To be honest, I was really expecting Elisabeth to play a bigger role in this film, I think the synopsis that I read gave me the impression that it would show both of their lives and sortof parallel them or something, but that wasnt the case, it was really just Ludwig's life, from his coronation to his death, and Elisabeth was in it sometimes because theyre important to each other and like to spend time together. They have some romantic tension and they even kiss each other on the lips in one scene, which suprised me, but it wasnt really elaborated on, it causes some drama between her and Sophie when she's engaged, but after they break it off the film mostly focuses on Ludwig's relationships with men while focusing less on Elisabeth as he starts to isolate himself. Also, speaking of his relationships with men, I am very disappointed to tell you that there was not nearly as much sexual tension between him and and Richard Wagner as in the other film. for shame.

Anyway, I cant really think of a way to organically transition into the next section, and theres really only one last thing that I wanted to talk about, so Im just gonna talk about it. I said earlier that this was an english-language film but it also has a lot of sections in italian and bits in german. Now, the german bits are like, theres a scene where Sophie sings a song from a german opera and whenever theres large crowds shouting stuff theyre shouting in german (like at the very end when theyre all looking for Ludwig after he went outside with his doctor), which I like because I feel like it adds a certain authenticity to those scenes, but the italian parts are just kinda confusing to me. The film has these little talking heads segments where its characters from the film, usually right before they take an active role in the story, talking about like, Ludwig's downfall is how I'd describe it (except for Richard Hornig, hes just like "Ive been his confidant for 10 years and thats all Im gonna say" which is cool), and the first few of those segments are in italian while the rest of the film is in english, so I initially assumed that those would be the only italian parts, but then we get a scene of Ludwig and Elisabeth talking that starts in english but then in the middle of it, theyre just suddenly speaking italian. And thats something that keeps happening throughout, sometimes theres just random italian scenes or scenes that randomly switch into italian, and some of those talking heads segments are inexplicably english, its very strange and honestly pretty jarring, I had to keep switching between the raw film and a version with english subtitles to properly keep up. So I guess that would be my one complaint for this film, but honestly Im not even sure if it was meant to be viewed that way ?? Like, the wikipedia page doesnt mention the fact that this movie was filmed in two languages even though I feel like that would be worth mentioning, and the italian parts all have this dubbed-in quality to them, like the audio quality is a bit different and Ludwig's voice sounds completely different when he's speaking italian vs when he's speaking english, its weird. But I mean, it didnt disturb my experience watching this, its basically just giving me an excuse to make my very own subtitles which Im looking forward to because itll give me the chance to rewatch it

So yeah, that's it. In conclusion, this film is really great and you should definitely watch it if you have four hours to spare and no headache

she will eat whatever, she's not that picky. she likes tea... much to solas' chagrin. herbal, earthy flavors are her preference, but again, not picky.

she has really, really bad insomnia, so her nighttime ritual is mostly "lay down and pretend like i can sleep." she probably gets somewhere between 3-4 hours of (interrupted!) sleep each night, but she spends a lot more time than that just laying down in bed. when she's with solas she falls asleep much easier. her nighttime routine in that case is, well, normally cleaning up after some fun with him... regardless, basic hygiene stuff and she usually brushes her hair and dresses in comfortable clothes before laying down

What is in their inventory?

almost exclusively practical items - extra rations, sewing materials, bandages and a few other basic first aid items, empty waterproof/oilskin wraps for things like herbs found while traveling, etc. as she's out and about she will take small mementos from animals she's killed, so those go in her pack as well but they stay in her room at skyhold.

Their preferred dress in these settings: Daily, formal, casual/bedding down

daily: long-sleeved but loose tunics, breeches, simple, muted colors formal: whatever josie picks. she's not into formal looks and she doesn't have a strong sense of fashion anyway. if she did pick her own outfit, she'd choose something that looked powerful rather than beautiful casual: same as daily tbh; for bed she usually takes her breeches off and switches to a short-sleeved tunic; alternatively, she'll sometimes sleep in a slip since several nice ones mysteriously ended up in her dresser at skyhold (she suspects josie)

I can't find it now but there was a great post about Charles' frenetic and often erratic driving style getting in the way of his obvious skill and talent. idk I feel like if I was smarter I could draw up a commentary on Charles seeing his name and his face and his successes being spread across everything Ferrari and an almost impotence from fans assigning him such unrealistic idolatry and power - while also assuming an untouchable quality that ends up making him appear weak and in need of constant defending, even from his teammates and Ferrari itself.

4. What’s a typical Sunday like for them?

the specification of Sunday immediately makes me think like, lazy relaxation day, so that’s kinda how I took these

Axyl and Zhouxing: I think both of them have a habit of naturally waking up pretty early, so even if they try to sleep in, they’re both typically up before 10 am. Axyl just because he’s a light sleeper with a rigid internal alarm but for Zhouxing, it’s because beylin temple days start real bright and early and as he actually tries to keep up with training more later on, this gets ingrained into schedule against his will. As a rest day for both of them, I think both of them just spend it very cozy and lazy, but in different ways. Axyl stays in bed for like several hours after waking up while Zhouxing is right up and at em with his morning routine. Mayhaps they go out together to get breakfast once axyl’s up. Zhouxing likes to be socially active and go out all the time but axyl prefers to stay home, so they might be doing different things on a day like that, but the one thing that’ll keep Zhouxing in is if axyl’s cuddling with him, bc then it’s like when you get trapped when a pet lays on top of you and gets comfy and you don’t wanna get up and disturb them. He doesn’t mind this though <3

Essi and Selen: Essi likes to get everything done in the morning to get it all out of the way and have the rest of the day to relax. She does a morning workout and does a bunch of household chores, meanwhile Selen sleeps in bc she’s a princess and likes to take it as a self care day whenever she gets the opportunity to relax. Luckily for her, Essi’s always willing to help out with whatever she needs so she doesn’t have to worry too much about that. She’s like a little border collie who always wants to have a job to do and can never relax unless she feels busy so she’s always happy to run errands or do chores for Selen as well. I think she makes fancy coffee for them both and listens to Selen talk about whatever she wants and it’s very cozy and sweet and they love each other dearly <3

Juno and Kite: ourghhh the silliests ever,,,,, I think they’d mostly just use it as like a parallel play kind of day. Juno spends her time baking and makes the whole place smell like sweet treats while Kite does his research n stuff on his computer <3 perhaps they go out n take eight to the skate park together and just have a nice little outing enjoying each others company. If they bump into anyone while they’re out I imagine juno chats politely and kite is like a little kid who just wants to go home. They get to enjoy some sweet treats together when they do 🫶

Ryoma and Victoria: something I’ve been thinking about recently with them is the idea that both of them are kind of rigorous and don’t take care of themselves as much as they should at first but for different reasons. Victoria comes mostly from her having the impulsiveness and drive that comes with being an adventurer and a blader, though Ryoma is both because he’s a blader but also kind of feels this expectation to always push himself beyond his limits to the most rigorous degree and doesn’t really give himself much care because of that. So I think once they’re in a relationship, Victoria starts being more conscious of this trait that both of them have and starts focusing on trying to get Ryoma to do more self care/relaxing stuff with her, both bc they need to do that and also as part of the process of breaking down his walls, and eventually later in life this ends up becoming an ingrained part of their routine. I like to think that maybe they do a lot of yoga/meditation type stuff specifically. Victoria passes this onto Sakyo too when he’s old enough to not fall over on his face doing it.

Welp, I finished Benjamin Percy's Ghost Rider and I have a couple comments:

Cracking opening issues. The one-and-done tales of Johnny stumbling upon different Supernatural monsters while Talia and Zeb work in the background is great.

Talia is great. The romance (if it can even be called that because at points they seemed more like friends with benefits) was a little sudden but having such a ridiculously grim and pessimistic character to make Johnny appear, comparatively, almost optimistic was a brilliant decision and it's a brilliant dynamic.

Issue 5 was a bit of a tone jump going from closed-off, seedy dark magic to a motorcycle race with Man-Thing, Doctor Doom, Wolverine , etc. I was mostly fine with it but the little caption box explaining everyone's presence was just... not enough to fully justify it.

Exhaust is a great hench villain. Conceptually, he's a more standard "dark mirror" but the presentation and design does a lot to make him shine (also the fact that he was a literal tumour cut out of him)

An unfortunate (but thankfully not deal breaking) part of the run is that... sometimes caption narrations do a bit more heavy lifting than they should, telling rather than showing (some stuff just happens like Talia's romance and Exhaust being a bike that felt a little too skimmed over).

The Danny Ketch arc was great if a little predictable. You could tell from a mile away what was going to happen to Infernal Labs' head scientist but that didn't make it any less thrilling. The introduction with the town left in ruins was a hell of a tone setter (especially the Rider using a cross on a gravestone as a sword) and it didn't slow down.

The parallels between sibling love of the antagonist to Johnny was great. Despite Johnny and Danny not really interacting much, you really got a sense of how much they care about one another.

Hitch-hiker issue with the parallel stories was delightfully creepy with the skin stealing body horror.

All that you love will be turned into an x-Mem crossover... Seriously though, the Spirits of Vengeance was pretty good and at least had a bit of set-up. It laid the parallels between Johnny and Logan on a little too thick and continued the annoying trend of trying to verbalise very important moments at the last second (Bram explaining his feelings and motivations to his own demon was jarring) but still a fun concept with the demon being an 'artist.'

The Halloween annual was fun and mostly inoffensive but considering that it's the only set-up for the final arc of the run... I can't say it really does its job.

The Rider only being able to come out when innocent life was in danger was... interesting but could be a little inconsistent sometimes (especially in the final arc). I did enjoy how it made Johnny and Talia feel more vulnerable while also making the Rider's appearances feel more special.

Talia's final arc was for the most part, really good. It plays on themes of teenage rebelliousness and isolation, with the cult of Mephisto preying on young Talia's insecurities and loneliness. The Children of Men-esque town was a great representation of this and gave the Ghost Rider something he couldn't just punch his way through.

As for Talia's sacrifice? I dunno, it feels like an unnecessary reset to Johnny being alone once more. I feel like their relationship had a lot of potential that went unexplored just because the series was ending.

Annnnnd Final Vengeance... wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The scene of Zadathos jumping from host to host is written incredibly from his perspective but... doesn't make much sense from a plot standpoint? If the Hood's deal with mephisto to take Zarathos from Johnny is what caused the separation then why did he spend so much time looking for different hosts?

Parker makes for a suitably pathetic protagonist. Despite taking Ghost Rider's power, he still feels pathetic which works with the arc centring on this moral tale of greed and overambition.

Man, Zeb was just... not spectacular, was he? A morally ambiguous wizard seems like a great fit but his design is kind of just Johnny with sunglasses and he just buggered off after the Shadow Country was dealt with, showing up here as a bit of a deus ex machina.

The genre shift from Supernatural horror to Supernatural crime works in the context of The Hood's ambitions but as the finale? Too much of a shift.

It is a shame how Johnny and Parker don't even meet until the end. The sub-plot of Zeb and Johnny travelling to Chicago was just... not altogether very interesting.

Hood's downfall was fitting and his short-sightedness around his ex and his daughter showed his selfishness and short sightedness well. Again though, why is the emotional core of the final arc centred on him and not Johnny?

Overall, despite feeling a little rushed in some places (especially the end), Percy's Ghost Rider was damn good, with some spectacularly creepy and cool visuals and suitably macabre writing style.

Toby Sweetie General Headcanons!

Meet your newest neighbor, Toby Sweetie! Gentle and shy, he's definitely a sweetheart. But don't let that fool you, he's just as silly as his neighborhood friends! Toby loves to help out, give gifts, and joke around!

So first of all, Toby Sweetie is mostly a quiet guy. Either he never knows what to say or he just doesn't talk. He prefers communication through other means like actions, though Wally tried to use ASL once and he was so confused!

Like his name, he's so sweet! Ask him to do something for you? He's on it! Don't ask him to do something for you? He'll do it anyways! He's always offering to help or do things for people, and he loves giving small gifts!

He's still... He's still somewhat of a Gremlin, and his laugh fits that. He's got a distinct laugh definitely-

He'll give people looks when they say something and he's about to say something probably cursed back- Everyone knows that look...

His favorite way of spending time with people is parallel play, when you both are in the same room but doing your own thing. So imagine Sally is practicing her play and he's just listening while playing with a lil' pebble that he thought was a funny shape!

For Neighbors, he probably gets along better with Julie and Frank! Poppy too!

Julie will be rambling about her day and he's just listening as he plays with her hair, or she's baking a cake and he's trying his best to help and understand her instructions but Julie is terrible at explaining and Toby is terrible at understanding!

OH MY GOD He would love listening to Frank about butterflies. He could listen for HOURS it's just so interesting!! I imagine there was one time he sat there for almost an hour just listening to Frank talk about butterflies and he loved it! He loves learning so much!

Bringing up Poppy, Toby's instinct is always to comfort her.

She'll be freaking out about something, and he'll walk beside her and wave her attention worriedly- It's actually so cute to see

He'll give her a gentle tap, she's cluck out of surprise, and then he's offering a hug straight up

So for the other neighbors...

He and Eddie do get along, but not to the point they would hang out on their own. It's usually with Frank around, and Toby's so supportive of Frank and Eddie's relationship :D

For Sally, he... He's kind scared of her, to be honest. She made him be in one of her plays once, and he screwed up the words so bad that he just stopped speaking- Too much, too much! Sally managed to fix it up by improvising, but Toby's more of a listener. He'll at least listen to her ideas on plays and stuff!

For Howdy... He's hung out with Howdy, helping with the shop, they get along well! Until Toby broke something and then wasn't allowed to help again-

Wally and Barnaby now! Toby likes doodling little ducks with them, and he'll tag along with them sometimes but Toby likes to stick to people he knows.

My computer's been dead (and still kind of is) for a month after... the milk incident, so I've only had the opportunity to play through Partha, and I do want to re-run her since she was my first playthrough. All of these come with a grain of salt and a lot of opportunity to be changed Warden Partha Aeducan: True to the Dwarf Noble Origin, kings Alistair, Romances Morrigain (bi rights), and does the dark ritual. The Leader. The World's most cringefail trans girl boss princess <3. She's an incredibly strong and fierce warrior, a real shit brickhouse as far as dwarves go, but also really mentally not doing well, and she expends a lot of energy not confronting this. She's remarkably successful, it's just that she's guessing the entire time and a lot of her choices go against her own, or her friends' wishes, in the name of the "Greater Good," but what that means to her is really unclear. She is so desperate to protect everyone and save Ferelden because she knows its right, but she doubts every choice she makes and so many "good" choices cause a lot more pain. She begins her journey feeling unloved, put-upon and lost and ends her journey feeling unloved, put-upon, and lost <3. She's also batshit a little and spends a lot of time doing really risky shit in a half-hearted attempt to chase death in a very Zevran-esque way aha. She comes out of the Blight an extremely weird unsettling person, and I do spend a lot of time jumping the shark with her. She drinks that weird bottle at Solider's Peak and does The Golems of Amgarrak stuff, if that explains anything. She's a ball of knots and hard to explain quickly. Mingrin: Partha's dog. Really cool guy and good boy.

Warden Judpha: Dwarf Commoner, not Brosca, thruple with Zevran and Killian. Grew up in Dust Town and was the guardian to his niece from a young age and broke when she was murdered. He's effectively ripped apart in Ostagar, and this leaves him short an arm and a leg. His Ostagar trauma makes him entirely unwilling to face the Dark Spawn. Jud start off pretty coarse - particularly with Partha, who he bitterly refers to as "Peace-Keeper" - and he softens up over time. He learns to read and write and becomes the sort of book-keeper of the group.

Warden Killian Tabris: True to the Elf Commoner Origin, thruple with Zevran and Judpha. Killian's a little less developed than the other two, but she's also pretty prickly. She dislikes Partha and Alistair because of their highborn status. She tends to lead a secondary party. I think her story is about her growing from jaded and act-first-questions-later to a more tempered and empathetic leader, as she's left to be Commander of the Grey after Partha disappears. I think Jud and Zevran allow her to soften up and relax a bit. I think she'll probably parallel Partha in a lot of ways. She joins at the same time as Alistair. Warden (Unnamed so far) Mahariel: Likely true to Elf Dalish origin. He'll likely spend a lot of time on the side lines. He joins at the same time as Partha and, when he finds himself entirely alone at Ostagar, goes "why would i die for a bunch of people who don't give two shits about me when I can go home and help my clan??" and immediately high tails it. He comes back up when the wardens come to the Dalish and find him. He gets turned into a werewolf and at the end of it he probably choses to stay and help prepare the Clans for the Dark spawn. He isn't meant to come across as a coward, but just as someone who, rightfully, is more concerned with the immediate future of his loved ones rather than a more abstract Series of Misadventures to Maybe? Save the World. Not to mention, he's alone right off the bat and has no context on how to be a warden.

Warden Surana and Warden Cousland (also both unnammed): Both mostly true to Human Noble & Elf Circle. They're more of a MacGuffin. They're both slightly older wardens than Alistair & Killian. Warden Surana and Cousland survived Ostagar (Likely alongside Killian and Judpha) and immediately went into action. They presume the old treaties are lost with Alistair and decide to go to Soldier's Peak to try and find some sort of hope. When Civil War pressures get real, Cousland makes a plan to use his Nobility status to wed Anora and reign some things back into place. This is what sends Partha on the path to wedding Alistair to Anora. When The Party get to Soldier's Peak, Cousland has been killed and likely so has Warden Surana.

Ameira Surana: Sister to Warden Surana and another Circle Elf. Romances Alistair. She is a prodigious young mage who spent much of her life in her sister's shadow. This allowed her to get away with what she wanted in peace. I forget which exactly was the specific character issue that sent her down her path, but after her sister and Jowan bounce, she does become a practicing Blood mage. she keeps this under wraps for a while and eventually saves Judpha's life with it, so he doesn't say anything about it. She joins the party with Wynne to help the Wardens and eventually falls in love with Alistair, and it's really sweet and smooth up until Partha and Eamon make moves to wed Anora and Alistair. Alistair breaks up with Ameira to try and spare her from everything that is going on. Ameira, devastated by the last 2 years' shenanigans' like every one else, does eventually fireball-blood magic the shit out of Partha and Anora and Judpha is like "hm yeah i guess i should've said something sooner."
