Summary: You and Rick Grimes had a backstory, one no one knew except you and him. It's one you refused to share, you never really wanted to get into it. All anyone needed to know was you hated the man. When you're in a rough spot, and you could use the shelter the question is... does he hate you?

You woke up that morning to something odd, sunlight seeping from your window -a warm feeling fully enveloping you whole, happy, content. It was weird for a moment, as you lay under your duvet -head still in that distant morning fuzz.

Just until your brain kicked into gear.

"Shit," you cursed, trying to see just where the sun was in the sky -you were so late.

Scrambling for a second, you pulled on a sweater for the chill of the morning and only took mere seconds to smooth your hair into something more manageable. Trying so desperately to go quick and not trip over yourself, you made your way out of your house.

It hadn't been very long since this started, the thing between you and Rick. Could you call it dating? If you counted supply runs as dates, sure, you mindlessly remarked.

You'd only made one thing clear, all hesitant and carefully worded like he hadn't known exactly why you felt so unsure of connections. The last time you'd felt happy enough to have something, it hadn't ended well -it never did. Rick didn't even flinch.

'Slow,' he'd said, that sort of grin that always seemed like listening to you was all he'd ever want to do, '-I can do slow.'

Sighing, you tumbled out your door -still a little clumsy from waking up, and distantly you heard Maggie's laughter. You spun around, matching eyes with her and Glenn -they seemed to be hanging up some of their laundry. Smiling way too bright for this early in the morning-

"You going somewhere?" Glenn teased, his grin just as bright as Maggie's.

Rolling your eyes, you flipped them off -earning only more laughter, and turned back to the street. Instinctively following your own feet, you made your way up the porch and didn't even hesitate to walk right in. Rick would've given you a key if he could, knocking was unnecessary.

You opened your mouth, ready to call out to him -the rather empty entryway was dead silent. Briefly made you wonder if you were late before you heard it.

The tiniest little giggle, loud and bright, and something in your heart stalled. Even just for an extra second, maybe you could stand here -catch your breath. You were nervous, unbelievably so and it didn't help that she was... that she was theirs.

That's not her fault, you reasoned with yourself -brushing your fingers along the wall, she's not them.

"Hello?" his voice echoed out -more grumbly in the morning, you'd too often just got lost in it this early, "-Anyone there?"

You tried to respond, you really did. But it was like your brain had built a wall there, your head a little off tempo -you briefly wondered if you should sink to the floor, ground yourself. It was only a thought that flew across your mind, stilled against the wall.

There was some shuffling, a tone you recognized as Carl quiet enough that you couldn't hear. An agreement, maybe. And then with a mere few footsteps echoing against your skull, Rick peeked around the door frame.

All harsh lines, and hand hovering over his gun, he softened upon matching your face -a smile slipping onto his lips like you were all he wanted to see. Before he darted down to your hands, fingers tellingly rubbing against the wall -consistent and eyes anywhere but his.

"Hey," he whispered, approaching you with slow steps -only reaching out to touch you when you leaned toward him, "-hey, everythin' okay?"

You inhaled a big breath, "Just... nervous."

"Sweetheart," he hummed, moving his hands up from your arms to cup your cheek -guiding your eyes to meet his, "-we don't 'ave to do this today. Not if you don't think you're ready."

"I know, I know-" you started, biting back some shakiness in your tone, "-I want to, today. I can. I just, I need a minute."

"'Kay," he mumbled, eyes flitting across your face and thumb skimming across your cheekbone, "-need anythin' from me?"

"Just..." you exhaled, blinking away some of your clouded gazes, "-just stay."

Rick frowned slightly, only for a moment -before his fingertips danced back down your arms, pulling you to his chest with the gentlest of touches, "'Course."

Nosing into your hair, he pressed a languid kiss to your forehead -the buzzing warmth pleasant to your brain running so fast. Slow, you repeated in your head, leaning into the touch and wrapping your own arms around his middle, slow. Pressing further into him, like the comfort he gave you could completely surround you -envelope you in safety.

"You're doin' so good," Rick muttered against your hair, voice calm and soft, "-even if ya don't see Judith today. I'm proud of you."

It was almost too much for you then, surrounded by everything so Rick and to hear those words. When you were working so hard, he saw it, he acknowledged it. The words were out before you could even think about it -muffled by his shirt and stuffy from the cloud of tears.

"I love you."

And before you could even feel a shred of worry or doubt, you felt him grin against your skin. With a bright smile, he spoke -as if on instinct, almost giddy, "I love you too, 'course I do."

Your heart fluttered in your chest, as you let out a watery laugh and moved your hands to begin wiping at your face-

"Let me," he hummed, pulling back slightly to pull his hands up to your face -cupping your cheek and rubbing at the tears. Gentle and whispers of comfort in every swipe, he didn't tell you to stop -only wished to soothe you for as long as you would let him.

And once he saw the smile slip across your face, he leaned forward -pressing his lips to the tear trails. Then across your cheeks, and down your nose, along your eyebrows, at the corner of your lips -he kissed every inch of skin he could.

"Rick," you laughed -making no moves to be anywhere else.

He only grinned in response, muttering in disbelief -like he couldn't believe it, "I love you."

You laughed - a bright twinkling sort of sound, "Rick-"

"What?" he spoke, eyes shining in the kinda way that you hadn't gotten used to yet but you recognized -pulled back from your face.

"We can't do this all day-"

He raised his eyebrows, testing you, "I could-"

"Rick," you smiled, only a sniffle from your nose left from the moments before, "-I've got someone to meet, remember?"

"Yeah?" he spoke, looking over you carefully -taking at your word but always sure to know when to step in.

"Yeah," you echoed, something settling in the air then, -clearing your throat, "-but if she hates me, I told you so."

He rolled his eyes, playfully, and took your hand -sliding up to your side and pulling you into the living room. It was a familiar sight, if not just a little more messy. Toys were strewn across the rug, Carl off on the couch -eagerly making some sort of stuffed animal bounce around.

And in the center of it, all was Judith. Her smile was painted so beautifully across her chubby little face, nose scrunching, and brown eyes intent on the stuffed animal. Your heart squeezed somewhere deep in your chest, she looked just like Lori.

She'd hardly been bothered by the presence of you and Rick entering the room until he'd spoken up -gingerly pulling you to the rug, "Hey, Jude, Daddy's got someone for ya to meet."

Her big brown eyes darted to his face, before fluttering over to you -curious and bright. Something in you shifted, as you let go of Rick's hand and crouched forward -eyes intent on the little girl.

"Hi, Judith," you smiled, something catching in your throat for an entirely different reason, and you waved -small but exaggerated for her to see, "-I'm Y/N. It's nice to finally meet you."

Her little eyes darted across your face, seeming to take you in for a moment -you'd give her all the time in the world if she wanted. Until she reached out her hand -tiny fingers out to yours and grabbed you. Pulling down, trying to tell you to stay-

There were tears in your eyes then, but a different kind.

And as you scooted close to her, babbling and showing you each of her toys one by one... you thought it might just all be okay.

A/N: Here’s a little fluff/angst imagine for some comfort from our favorite archer during these hard times. I hope everyone is staying safe - we will get through this! My inbox is open if anyone needs a friend to talk to ♥

You had been making little presents for Daryl ever since the prison. You had gifted him a poncho, which he loved and still had to this day. You like to put your skills to use to crochet clothes and blankets for the people of Alexandria and Hilltop. You tended to be the person that everyone went to when they needed something mended or blankets needed made for winter approaching. Whenever you had down time, you would work on little gifts for different people - Daryl being the most common one.

You’d like to think that the poncho you made for him all those years ago was the beginning of when your friendship began blossoming into something more. Now, nearly ten years later, you’ve been with the archer for a couple of which. He still gets shy to this day when you gift him different things, whether it be something you made him or something you found on a run. You love Daryl and look for any opportunity to spoil him.

This had all come about because you gifted Judith with a handmade quilt. She absolutely adored it and brought up you teaching her how to repair clothes. A few days after beginning to teach her, she took notice of how torn apart Daryl’s winged vest was becoming, which she brought up to you. She wanted to surprise her favorite uncle by repairing the faded away wing on the vest - but she needed your help. You loved the idea, knowing Daryl would be very happy - he loved that vest.

So over the next few days, you and Judith would spend an hour or two each night working on the vest. Daryl thought that he had lost it, which made it all the better. He asked you if you had seen it anywhere, pretty upset that he couldn’t seem to find it. You played along, helping him “look for it” throughout your shared house. Eventually, Daryl gave up, defeated and mad that he lost it. You felt bad that he was upset but you knew it would only make the surprise so much better.

And so, after over a week of working on it together, you and Judith finished up repairing the wing on his vest. Everyone was preparing for the horde to come through Hilltop, and it seemed like a good time for some heartfelt moments. You gave the vest to Judith and told her you would meet her downstairs, finishing getting ready in the spare room. When you came out of the room, Daryl had just come over to see Judith - sitting on the love-seat. You knew that she was upset, she had been all day - this was supposed to try to ease her worries. You waited in the hall above the stairs, giving them a moment - Judith needs her Uncle Daryl right now.

“Hey,” Daryl calls out softly as he approaches Judith, limping slightly as he walks. You cringe at the sight, anger flowing through your veins at the sight of your man so beat up. Alpha would pay for what she did to him. “You should be with the other kids.”

“I wanna help.” You smile as Judith stands, crossing her arms and giving Daryl that same look that Michonne does. This girl certainly was Rick and Michonne’s daughter. “I can fight.”

“I know ya can. I’m sorry about today... You didn’t need to see those bodies like that.” Your smile drops into a sad one at the memory of more of your people fallen at the hands of the Whisperers. Daryl had no reason to apologize, it was them who needed to pay. You lean against the railing as they continue talking, your mind wandering as fear begins to work its way back into your veins.

“I’m not scared.” Judith insists, her doe eyes saying otherwise.

“I know yer not. Maybe I am, a little bit.” Daryl confesses, his tone dropping slightly. Your heart warms, a memory of Daryl screaming at you that “he ain’t afraid of nothin” hitting you. He’s come such a long way over the years, he’s almost unrecognizable to the man you first met back in Atlanta. Judith goes on confessing things she might be afraid of, your heart sinking when she says she’s afraid of losing Daryl.

Tears well in your eyes at the thought of ever losing him, which you rapidly blink away. You can’t think like that.

“There ain’t no shame in that... You know who you’re fighting for.” Daryl responds. You watch as Judith lifts the vest off of the chair, holding it up for him to see. He brings a hand over his mouth and grins widely, your own smile forming at his. “It’s for luck.” Judith smiles.

“No way,” He says, taking the vest from her hands “I love it.” He throws it on, turning around for her to see. “How do I look?” He asks, making Judith giggle. You smile and stand up straight, getting ready to head down to speak to Daryl before the fight begins.

“It looks good.” Your heart flutters when Daryl chuckles in response. You adore that little laugh of his.

You make your way down the long stairs, both of their eyes turning to look up at you. Daryl’s smile grows when you make eye contact, your heart skipping in your chest as you come down. “There’s one more thing.” Daryl sighs, bending slightly to look into Judith’s eyes as you head over to them. “If during the fight, Y/N comes looking for you and RJ... You go with her. Whether you know where I am or not. Okay?” He asks. You place your hand on her back as her head drops. “Hey? You gotta promise me.”

After a moment, Judith nods lightly, looking up at Daryl then at you. “I promise.” Daryl smiles again and pulls her into a hug, looking up at you as he hugs her. You blink away tears hastily as they hug, all sorts of emotions overwhelming you.

After they part, Judith smiles up at you then starts heading out to be with the other kids. You look up into Daryl’s eyes, sadness overwhelming you. He chews at his bottom lip for a second before you step into his arms and hug his torso. He hugs you back immediately, something that he has learned over the years with you. You take a deep breath to calm yourself, his comforting smell washing around you as you lean in his chest.

“Hey,” He says, pulling back enough to look at you. “We’re gonna be okay.” He assures you. You nod and smile sadly, blinking away fresh tears. Daryl raises his hand and brushes them away with the back of his hand, his rough hand stroking your cheek gently. You lean into his touch and close your eyes.

“I can’t lose you...” You mutter, bringing your hand up to cup his on your cheek, pressing a kiss to it before meeting his blue eyes.

“You won’t.” He promises, pulling you back into his chest. You stay like that for a moment, enveloped in each other’s arms, appreciating one another for what could be the last time. He presses a kiss to the top of your head and you move back, arms still wrapped around his torso, leaning your face up to look up at him. Your eyes drop to his pink lips before going back to his blue eyes. The look you make drives him crazy, he could never get enough of you in his arms.

Daryl leans in slightly, pressing his forehead to yours and looking into your eyes. Your raise your face just enough and press your lips against his very gently. His arms around your body tighten, holding you close in the soft, slow kiss. He normally didn’t like to show so much PDA outside of your room, but this time was different. A war was just outside those gates. You part slowly, foreheads pressed together and breathing heavily - soaking in the intimate moment.

When you pull away, you shoot him a smile, nodding your head at him in a way you’ve picked up from him over the years. “Lemme see it.” You smile. His grin returns and he turns, showing you the vest.

“You like it?” You ask as he turns back around.

“O’course. You been teaching her?” He asks, referring to Judith.

“Yeah. She wanted to surprise you.”

“You two are the best.” He smiles, throwing his arm over your shoulder. “C’mon. We got a fight to win.” And so you follow him out of the doors, heading toward the gates to prepare for battle - knowing exactly what the two of you are fighting for.

I know they seem long but some of it is also just information I thought was important for you to know before interacting with me. NOTE: THERE IS A PASSWORD FOR THIS BLOG DUE TO SEVERAL PAST BAD EXPERIENCES WITH UNTAGGED TRIGGERS (and it is the ONLY reason I have a password. I won’t throw a fit if you don’t send it, but I do usually feel more comfortable if you do).

Also another small, but extremely important note beforehand: Due to my autism, I tend to try to be extra clear (but also sometimes manage to be less clear in the process), or in my head it is clear, but to other people, it comes across entirely differently, but I’ve been informed this makes my rules sometimes come across as more aggressive, exclusionary, or mean. So I will say this now. I am actually a MASSIVE fluffball. Quite literally. The tone they come across is mainly due to overexplaining however I have tried to edit them and have yet to find a way to redefine my rules in better wording that I am happy with and that feels like it covers everything while actually being properly clear (but whenever I finally think of the right wording, I usually update my rules). So just approach them with the knowledge I am actually legitimately a sweetheart and my brain just sucks at actually wording stuff.

If you followed me over here when I moved Kurai’s BNHA verse to this blog, I removed and edited a couple of rules so please read through them again.

- ★ First and most important thing is that the mun has a very serious cannibalism trigger, which includes ANY form of people being eaten (including animals or monsters or any such other creatures eating people). (Excluding vampires, as that doesn’t typically involve the eating of human flesh, and rather simply blood itself (I am COMPLETELY fine with blood and general dark and gorey things). Zombies however, are included). As such, please tag all SNK or Hannibal related posts with such things in them, even the ones without such scenes in them, due to the fact that these two shows/fandoms are the reason I learned I have this trigger, and so the entire thing now can cause my trigger due to association, and memory connection to it. Also I ask that you tag any other shows/fandoms/gifs with such things in them as well. Please and thank you very much. My blacklisted tags are: SNK, Shingeki No Kyojin, Attack On Titan, AoT, tokyo ghoul, tg, Hannibal, Cannibalism, tw: cannibalism, parasyte, tokyo ghoul, twd, the walking dead, walking dead, zombies, and hunting trophies. Any form of these (capitalization does not matter, however spaces do) will be caught by my blacklist, so I would appreciate it if you’d use one of these for those posts (though I am also happy to add other tags to it as well if you have a specific system you use already). Also suggestions for other possible blacklist tags that I may have forgotten are much appreciated. Also as an added note, I will not follow, RP with, or associate in ANY WAY, any blogs that have to do with my triggers. (Multi-muse blogs can sometimes be okay, this more applies to blogs that post SPECIFICALLY about the fandoms that trigger me). If you are a multi-muse blog that has characters from these fandoms, all I ask is that you be sure to tag them with the fandom they are from, with one of the tags in my list, and tag any of the triggers. We’ll be perfectly fine if you do! If you don’t, I may eventually unfollow, just to avoid seeing unintentionally triggering content.

- Secondly, I am open to RPing smut, (either aged up, or not, since whether we like it or not, teenagers do indeed end up doing it), however it likely will not happen much since this muse is underage, and will only happen if both myself and the other mun are okay with it and have agreed to it. (Again, chances are slim.) I do prefer however if our smut RPs are placed under a read more, if at all possible.

- ★ I am autistic. I know I don’t seem like it at first, and sometimes it’s hard to tell, however I am, and I also have ADHD, and it does affect the way my mind works with things. Sometimes having things done certain ways makes all the difference between if I can do something or if I can’t. If it sounds like I want to do something, but seem to struggle with figuring out how, please feel free to make suggestions, or start the thing yourself! It’s actually REALLY helpful when I get stuck. My being autistic can also affect who I can roleplay with, and how I roleplay, and how I think. Please keep this in mind, and try to be understanding. If something bothers you, or you don’t understand something, just ask me! I’ll do my best to explain, or fix it.

- Though it may not always seem like it, I am VERY shy and awkward. I’m actually legitimately terrified of new people, and trying to talk to people I haven’t spoken to before, or very much yet, almost makes me feel like I’m going to have a panic attack. If you want to RP with me, please message me! Chances are I’d LOVE to chat with you and RP with you, I’m just too terrified to talk to you.

- I struggle with chronic depression, and sometimes I may disappear for a while if I have a spell that gets particularly bad. Please be patient with me, as I will never forget about you and will always return. Also since it needs to be said, I also have EXTREME, doctor diagnosed anxiety. Sometimes it gets the better of me. Same with depression. Sometimes I have bad days. So I vent, and get frustrated with things. Little things bother me a lot more than they would on a normal day. If you can’t handle that or are going to be a hypocrite about it then please just leave right now. I don’t need your negativity. I have enough unwanted of that in my head as it is, which I combat and fight against every day.

- I am a multiship/multiverse blog, however my muse will be very selective with shipping for the time being however I am still happy to discuss ships and will happily consider them. Also a note, that I will ship with multiples of the same character, if the mun of those blogs wishes to ship with me. I find each relationship is different, seeing as each mun plays their character a little differently.

- I will do crossovers sometimes with fandoms I am familiar with. Crossovers always depend on my mood and how well my muse can interact with a character, as well as how well I know the series the character is from. Please forgive me if I choose not to roleplay a specific crossover. I still like you, I promise. If you’re unsure if I know your fandom, just ask! I do know of a lot of fandoms, so there’s a good chance I might.

- I ship based on chemistry. Sometimes I can develop a ship quickly, especially if I know the other muse’s personality well, and know they will mesh well with mine. Other times, a ship takes time for me to develop. Please be understanding and patient with me on this.

- Do NOT under any circumstances, force a ship on me. I am usually quite good at expressing ships I am okay with, and it will usually show in my writing. If you are unsure if I ship something or not, feel free to send me a message and ask me. Most of my characters have their own way of showing interest in someone, however most are usually pretty clear in expressing it in some way. Sending memes for interaction is fine for anyone whether we have interacted or not, and I will usually reply to those, however do not force a ship on me outside of that. If one develops between our characters, then fine. However that is a MUTUAL thing, so I do not take kindly to someone just deciding something is a thing. If you want to try to build one between our characters, then go ahead. Just please show me respect. That is the biggest and most important thing with me, is respect.

- I will write anything from 1 liners to multi-paragraphs when I RP. I usually stick to 1 or two shortish paragraphs, and that tends to fluctuate or shrink depending on how much information is needed to describe a scene. If we start out with a shorter paragraph, and I make a reply a fair bit longer, I will likely revert back to the shorter paragraph again within 1 or 2 replies. However you are welcome to write however you wish, just as long as you can give me something to go on. (A one liner in response to a 10 line paragraph for example, I will struggle to reply to.)

- I do not tolerate anon hate of any kind. Not towards myself, nor towards others. I will respond to it in a way that will make the sender feel rather like an idiot, and I am very smart and capable of doing so, so please be advised of that, if you intend to do so.

- I will RP more violent NSFW RPs, and other dark topics (I absolutely LOVE angst), however ONLY as long as I am in the mood for them. The mun of this blog is (well) over 18. Everything though that might be triggering, will be tagged, and if there is something that you need me to tag, or if I forget to tag something, please feel free to tell me. Just try to do so right away or else I can forget which RPs or replies to tag depending how long it goes since I posted it. My memory is pretty fickle with what it chooses to remember without some nudging.

- ★ I am better at roleplaying ships with males (BoyxBoy/Yaoi/etc), due to being more familiar with it and having more experience with it ((as I myself am very very very gay, and also trans (which is where the issues with writing about female parts makes me very uncomfortable comes from) )). I may however attempt to ship romantically with female characters, but please keep in mind it is something I am not as good at or as comfortable with, so if in the end, I decide I am unable to do so, please be understanding of this. (Especially if smut is included in the ship. I cannot smut with female characters, sorry.)

- I am slightly fickle about things I can reply to. I try very hard to reply to everything, however one thing I am not good at, is sudden changes in roleplays. As much as I hate to admit it, and try to pretend it isn’t true, and even though I am quite good at managing it most times, I am autistic, (high functioning form of autism) and that is one of the few issues I struggle with the most. If you sense a roleplay is changing directions, please hint at it to me in the tags or something the reply before it does, since even that small little hint can be enough to help keep me from having to drop an RP. Even if you are unsure if it will or not, letting me know that you think it MIGHT possibly happen (since we don’t control our characters) is a huge help to me. This particular issue is the main reason that 95% of my dropped threads end up dropped. And I always feel terrible when it happens, so please help me to get better at this.

- I can be slow sometimes (or often) with asks or replies. This usually happens because of my muse being fickle or me thinking a meme or ask prompt would be fun, however sometimes when I actually get them, my muse decides to just be like NOPE. Also sometimes I tend to forget things, or leave stuff in my askbox to reply to later, and then I forget about it or get distracted. If this happens, I apologize. Please try to be understanding of this, since I will NEVER ignore you or your asks on purpose. (The only case where it would be ignored is if it is something stated in my rules that I cannot respond to, that you obviously failed to read or are attempting to do anyway.) I do reblog things with the INTENT to answer EVERYTHING that shows up in my inbox, however my intentions don’t always pan out.

- I do not do the reblog from the source thing (not consistently anyway). I used to try to do it every single time (if I notice it), though now, I am sorry but I have had so many anxiety attacks due to my attention span which I cannot help due to having ADHD, and accidentally reblogging memes and such from someone who has that rule without even realizing it as I am scrolling down the dash because I don’t even realize who reblogged the meme, and then panicking because I realize it later, or get yelled at over it. I follow at least like 30+ meme blogs and the majority of memes on my dash tend to be from the source, so sometimes I don’t notice! Roleplay for me needs to remain stress free, because stress can trigger a major/serious depression spell and as of recently I FINALLY am stable emotionally. So please forgive me if I don’t bother with it. Because I probably won’t do it (consistently anyway).

Next topic of discussion.

Concerning OCs and shipping with them (Please see this post for some further clarification on this, since this is the part that I have the most issue with making clear, though I really do try):

- I am in fact OC supportive! Though when it comes to RPing with them, I can be extremely picky, and cautious. This has nothing to do with whether your OC is great or well developed or not. My brain annoyingly happens to have trouble connecting to a lot of characters, both OC and canon, but it just seems to be more common with other people’s OCs. HOWEVER, just because I might not RP with your OC, doesn’t mean I won’t secretly stalk them from the dash and read your interactions because I think they’re amazing.

- I WILL NOT ship my muses with other OCs, unless they are extremely well developed. This is simply because unless I personally can form some form of an an emotional connection/understanding to/of a character, my own muse will be unable to do so as well. (This can also apply to canon characters as well, so it is not simply limited to OCs).

- I am also very picky with RPing with other OCs, because of the same reason stated above. I will however roleplay with them sometimes, and do not in any way dislike them. I rather love OCs, and the diversity and color they bring to fandoms, and I actually have lots of OCs of my own for different fandoms, I just cannot always connect to them, and in those cases, I will not be able to roleplay with them. I apologize. HOWEVER. If possible, I will happily do platonic RPs with OCs that my muses happen to click with.

The types of characters/OCs I am usually unable to roleplay with, are the following, which includes a list of reasons why:

- ★ OCs that are not connected to any fandom in particular/Multifandom OCs. Basically as I like to call them, floaters or drifters. I may attempt to roleplay with these. It can still be iffy, because my brain can sometimes make stuff more difficult than it actually is or needs to be, and it depends on each particular OC, but as I have recently been developing a fandomless OC myself, I find my understanding of them has grown a bit. That said, sometimes I need to be able to connect them with something, as each fandom has a specific world to them. I need a consistent, solid world anchor to be able to understand the character, which drifters don’t have, so I can struggle to RP with them. I’m willing to try though!

- OCs from fandoms I am unfamiliar with. If I don’t know what sort of world/background your character comes from, it leaves me guessing too much and confused. I have attempted to roleplay with them anyway in the past and it just doesn’t work.

- OCs with very little backstory and information, or with a confusing one, or even with none at all. In essence, poorly made OCs. I need info to RP with you. At least seriously. So sorry. I need to be able to understand your character at least a little, since I don’t do good with “lets play a guessing game” or “I literally have no idea what I’m doing” or “what the hell is going on” sort of RPs, and I have never been good at them, and so I need clear, concise information on your character.

- Canonically (or noncanon since this is an OC as well) unknown family member OCs. Whether it’s a sibling for my character or for someone else’s that was never mentioned in canon, I just can’t. (If you want to RP a family member of my character that I have mentioned in my character’s info, please ask me beforehand as I usually have an idea already of what their family member is like, but usually I will be okay with that as long as you ask me first before just going ahead and doing it.) I’ve never been able to RP with them, for a multitude of reasons, one of the main being they often end up reminding me of the bad version of self inserts or genderbends. I have been unsuccessful at breaking this way of thinking towards them despite attempting to many times, and so I just cannot do it, personally. I am sorry.

Important reminder: Please note that I suck at explaining this somewhat, and just because my brain struggles with roleplaying with certain characters does not mean I dislike your muse or think they suck! I can think your OC is absolutely AMAZING and they can be SUPER well written and developed and I can want to interact but my brain is just dumb and if I try to my brain just refuses. These SAME issues can happen with canon characters too, I have simply noticed it more with other OCs, thus the specific section for them.

Those are all the ones I can think of right now. I am very sorry to anyone who has one of these and wants to RP with me, however I simply cannot do it, personally. I’m sure there are plenty of other people out there though who would love to RP with you even though I cannot, and just because I will not RP with you doesn’t mean I dislike you or your character. I’d be happy to still be friends with you, I just won’t be able to RP with you. I’m someone who needs to be able to connect to the character I am roleplaying with on at least SOME level, for my character to be able to connect to them as well, so if I am unable to do that then I am unable to roleplay with them. (This can include as well, the WAY someone roleplays, since if there is no emotion or thought or description in replies, it gives me nothing to go on and connect to, and leaves me unable to respond, even if I WANT to RP with you.)

★ I hate to have to do this (and I never used to have a password), however I have had A LOT of trouble with people not reading and following my rules in the past, and or speaking about or talking about/not tagging my major trigger, so if you have read my rules, please inbox me with “Catshark” (I prefer Inbox over IMs for the password so I can keep track forever of who sent it in). I ask this of people because it also helps a lot with my anxiety, and keeps me from wondering and worrying in the back of my mind if I might actually get triggered by something. I know it can be tedious to do this extra step, and I hate that I even had to add this step in the first place, however after years of roleplaying, and dealing with people, it became necessary due to several bad past experiences in tumblr fandoms. It was not added on a whim, so please take the time to do so. Also, I do understand that you probably follow a hundred blogs that all have their own rules, so if you forget stuff, that’s okay! I do it too. The password is just so I know it is safe for me to approach you and remind you of something if you do forget. Otherwise, I tend to sit here and kind of panic about if I can mention something to you (it has happened before that someone who didn’t send it in and came across friendly bit my head off when I asked them to tag something), and it means I am more likely to unfollow or stop interacting, or even block you eventually due to my anxiety. And I don’t want that to happen over a silly misunderstanding.

I just basically accept that that kind of stuff happens, and it’s a very realistic thing. My nsfw tag is #n;sfw so you are aware, because the original nsfw tag doesn’t work as well anymore.

- ★ Self insert OCs. Really. Please just no. I cannot stand self inserts above all else other than Shipper OCs. Admittedly, there are a rare few good ones out there. (And those are fine). However those tend to be very few and far between, and 98% of them tend to fall into the not so good category to put it nicely, and I just.. I can’t do it. There is nothing else to say to this except just NO. I apologize for this, however I just can’t. Also, this applies to FULLY self inserts. This does not apply to characters that simply share some traits with you, as often we roleplay a character because we can connect to them somehow.

- Canon Genderbends (there are exceptions sometimes with these). This subject is a touchy one, since my mind is very rigid unfortunately when it comes to how I view them. This might stem from my own personal gender struggle (as I am trans and FtM), however genderbends have always been something I have a lot of issues with, and so 98% of the time, I will not RP with them because I have to fight my mind to reply. Temporary genderswap M!A’s however, when handled properly, are no issue for me, and in such cases I will happily roleplay with them.

- Shipper OCs. The type of character I hate more than any other. If you made your OC just so you could ship with a bunch of people and that is the only purpose for their existence, do not even talk to me, or approach my character. Don’t even try. I literally cannot stand these types, and they fall right up there with my hatred of self inserts. So sorry. But just no. This doesn’t mean I ship shame if your muse happens to end up in lots of ships. That’s fine. It happens. I know the feeling when muses just click with lots of other muses. Sometimes it’s like that. But if their ONLY purpose for existing, is just so you can ship with endless characters, please go away right now.

O.C Character Survey

1. Your first OC ever? My WWE one Roxy,I wrote her when I was 13. I also made Naru aka Molly from Sailor Moon a Sailor Senshi named Sailor Sun. She had a yellow sailor fuku with a blue bow.

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs? I’m not sure. I will say that my easiest one’s to write are Renee from The Flash and Suzanna from TWD.

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else? Kinda. my Ex let me use his OC’s in stories. He has Alien Races called The Cartanians and Tarians and a Vampire Nightmare lord named Shirowen. Who is based off of the lead singer of Dimmu Borgir.

4. A character you rarely talk about? Carrie aka The Carrion Crow just because I haven’t been interested in finishing My Gotham fic,or I have been but just never wrote anything down...

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? My Vampiress Levathia for My Original story. Just because then I can make all My other OC’s known by extension.

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related? All the Tarians and Cartanians look like each other lol (it is a race that has all white hair and red eyes and a race that has all different shades of green hair and purple eyes)

| So, like I said before, this is a post on the basics of my sex-repulsion and how it connects to my muses. Some TMI under the cut (and it’ll probably be long as fuck) so here we go:

Background on my sex-repulsion: I’ve been sex-repulsed for as long as I’ve known what sex is and how it works. Personally, I don’t see myself ever having sex. I’ve never wanted to. Even something that isn’t considered sex, like masturbation, is mostly out of the picture for me, because with the way my brain works, anytime I desire something even remotely sexual (like what’s mentioned above), I feel immense guilt and I have a depressive episode, of which the length depends-- on what is beyond me, but it depends.

Sex in general is a giant trigger for me. There’s nothing in my past that has caused me to feel this way-- I already got an anon asking about this, no, I was not raped or molested, no, I am not repressing anything. Nothing happened to me. It’s a phobia, like arachnophobia or scopophobia, and why people are able to tag those without any problems but not think that my own phobia is valid is beyond me.

What happens when I read smut, see a random sex gif, or have someone talk about sex to me is pretty much what you’d expect from someone with a phobia (which I am)-- I feel sick to my stomach, usually I feel like I want to rip my skin off, I shake, I dissociate, all that great, wonderful stuff. And I can count at least 5 times in the past year that this has happened, because of untagged/uncovered smut. Seriously, guys, just tag it. It takes less than a second and it prevents triggering on my part.

Recently I had someone tell me that I act like I hate people who have sex... idk where anyone read that, but that’s literally like the opposite of me. I’m not equipped to hate people. I couldn’t even hate my own dad during the time that I wasn’t speaking with him after he told me he would disown me, I’m just that bad at hating. (Note: Obviously that situation is much better.) If you have sex, great! If you don’t, same! If you love sex, awesome! If you hate sex, I feel! But if you hate people who choose either to have it or not, then you’re a prick, and you should probably leave me alone, bc clearly we won’t get along.

When it comes to smut, idc if you write it or don’t, or enjoy it or don’t, just like with sex. The problem comes when people decide not to tag it, because, like I said up there, things happen when I catch a glimpse of smut. Once again, just tag it, it isn’t that difficult. I don’t hate anyone for writing it, because tbh, I’m jealous of people that can write about something so intimate without feeling the need to rip their eyes out or tear their stomach open. If you understand how genitals work, great, I’m 22 and a trans guy and I still don’t understand a damn thing about mine or why I need them, so you’re already way ahead of me. If you write it, tag it and everything will be fine and dandy in Alistair-Land.

When it comes to my muses, pretty much all of them are inherently asexual, like me. This comes more naturally for a few muses, some examples being Gamzee, Ellis, and Connor.

Gamzee is a troll, from Homestuck (obviously), whose species’ romance occurs in “quadrants”, each “quadrant” being based off of a suit of cards. A basic description is this: hearts(Red)=true romance, diamonds(Pale)=platonic soulmates, spades(Black)=hateship, and clubs(Grey)=hateship with a mediator. We don’t see anyone having sex in the comics, and while Gamzee has a nice Black relationship going for a while, trolls don’t seem to have sex until it’s time to... breed, you could say.

Ellis is from Left 4 Dead 2, and we’re not given much backstory on him. if you ask a couple of people I’ve written him with, there’s quite a few reasons why I consider him ace, and the only girl he ever talks about in a romantic way? Zoey. The only other woman he meets on his journey, and he calls her an angel. I doubt this boy has had much sexual experience, if any, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s probably why he talks about Zoey the way he does.

Connor is from Detroit: Become Human, and he is an android. There are specified models (ex: Tracis) that are used for sex, and therefore I don’t think that normal models, or even prototypes like Connor, are built with genitalia. Therefore, he is basically a Ken Doll down there. In addition, while I will ship him romantically with anyone (including Hank, though I’ll also do it platonically), I feel that Connor craves love (whether platonic, familial, or romantic), but not necessarily sex. He’s just learning how to be human, after all.

Keep in mind, these are my OPINIONS, and how I portray my muses.

When it comes to a muse that is canonically sexual in nature, like Negan, things are a bit different.

With Negan, from The Walking Dead, it’s all about what happens that we see. What we do see is Negan bragging about fucking his wives, kissing some of them, holding them close, etc. But we never see any sex scenes. Obviously, TWD’s comic has a ton of sex scenes, but weirdly enough, never any with Negan. He makes sexual advances, jokes, and things like that, but he never acts on them on-screen or on-page. My Negan basically keeps his harem of wives for power-- when the man’s got your wife, you’re probably going to listen to him. In return for being treated well, they keep up the facade and counsel him when he needs it. He’s ace for a single reason-- Lucille. While he can still find comfort in someone else’s arms, after his affair while Lucille had cancer, he resolved to not sleep with anyone again, because he doesn’t want to cheat on her further.

My boundaries are simple: no sex of any kind, and no touching genitals. And I can’t understand why some people think that any affectionate action, like a kiss, or a bite to the neck, or running a hand up someone’s shirt, is inherently sexual. I write those actions as affection or flirtiness, and, y’know, there’s an easy way to make sure your muse isn’t aroused-- by not writing that they are. I’m pretty sure that’s what most of my partners have done in the past, is taken what they know is sexual, and suppressed it when they write something ship-related with me. If there’s no possible way you can do that... it’s not hard. It doesn’t take long to figure out what’s appropriate and inappropriate to write.

In conclusion: I hate being sex-repulsed, I wish I wasn’t, if you love sex or smut then I support you (just tag smut and pls don’t talk about sex to me), my muses are inherently ace, and there’s no sex of any kind or genital touching on this blog. Thank. |

Feeling a bit sad and nostalgic

I doubt I will ever be part of another fandom in a serious way during my lifetime. I doubt that I will find another place where what I have to say and what I creatively have to offer will get me enough recognition to feel that I’m part of something. I know I will never follow press for another entertainment property. I know I will never care about the personal lives of the production members again. I know I’ll never go to another convention and pay serious money to meet an actor or take a photo. I’m fairly certain that I will never develop friendships based from an original interest in a show again. I’ve already lost nearly all of those that I had.

When I came in during 2012, there were a core group of Carylers that were running the big content circulation engine, U.S.S. Caryl. Now the blog has been static for 3+ years, and only 2 of the staff are left. One of them is and always has been multifandom in a serious way. The other drops by now and again because her life has demanded that she do other things - and well she should. I have two other people I interact with who were here before me. One used to produce the very best photo edits. Now...she is rarely here. The other has all but given up on the show. There are certainly people that I follow and care about - but I’m an introvert at heart, and I’ve messaged them rarely, if at all.

The people I came in with are basically all gone - or else they have moved to other platforms. I entered into a collaboration for one of the most successful AU fanfiction stories ever...and I don’t even know where my collaborators are. One of them was a person who called me “family.” Another was so like me in our fandom interests that we had a ship name together. My favorite fanartist left to go to medical school. There’s really only 1 person left, and I don’t think she watches episodes unless Carol has the dominant thread.

I have watched at least 2 additional waves of fans come through, and most of them are gone as well. Those that are left...mostly stopped watching and only live vicariously through the few gifs that circulate. There are at least 3 of those folks that I still interact with...and all three do primarily things other than TWD. I don’t think any of them even watch it anymore. My co-admin on @carylnetwork has disappeared without a trace.

I was never here just for a single ship. I have even been skeptical of the wisdom of Caryl based on the characterization of each of them. I have happily dabbled in multi-shipping for Carol at least. I have wrestled with the conundrum that is Reedus. I have fallen in and out of love with other characters and ships on the show. I’ve run blogs dedicated to Caryl and Greemes, 1 to Melissa McBride, 1 to Melissa & Carol, 1 to Norman & Daryl, and even a couple of very short term blogs (McReedus and a Portal for new shippers). It’s been a big investment.

I learned to make photo manipulations because of this fandom. I learned to make gifs because of this fandom. I wrote my first drabbles and mutli-chapter fanfiction for this fandom. I came to tumblr specifically for this fandom. I even made a presentation at an academic conference about this fandom. When I was at the very worst of my depression - when it was 4 years of unrelenting darkness - I felt that I had little more than this fandom. I’m very glad I found it here.

I’m not leaving yet. I’ll never feel anything but happy when I look back. I might even decide to “retro” fan it all again. Maybe I’ve just got to play a little bit in order to shake off the unrelenting despair I hear day in and day out about this thing I love - or maybe that I loved. I’m not sure.

Important Blog Announcement

so... this is something that I have been thinking about for a very, very long time.

As probably most of you know by now, this blog originated as an SPN blog; more specifically, it was an SPN reader insert fanfiction blog. I'm sure many of you have also noticed that I haven't posted consistent writing in... a very long time (I'm talking at least 1 year). And, truth is: it's because I simply have no interest in it anymore, neither Supernatural or writing for it.

Between the mix of pursuing my original works and the pressure I have felt to post writing for this fandom (by my own mentality, no one has been rude to me, thank god), I just feel as though my time to retire from fanfiction (besides a few side/secret projects that won't even be posted here on tumblr) is long overdue. This doesn't mean that I will never write fanfiction again, because who knows! Maybe I'll change my mind in the future. But as of right now, I can tell you that my own writing content is something you won't be seeing much of on my blog. So, basically, this is my formal announcement that I will no longer be writing fanfiction for SPN, if any fandom. You can read below the cut for some more explanation + the answers to some questions you may be asking.

So... What will happen to all of my old works? After a lot of thought and a refreshing conversation with @icouldnotsee, I can say that all of my writing will still be up for you to enjoy. I will be deleting my masterlist, both mobile and the page on my theme, but you can find the posts easily under either a pairing tag or '#i can write', my general writing tag.

Now what will I be posting? I'm still a multifandom blog, which means I'll still post multi-fandom things. I've been thinking about becoming a general writing/prompt blog, but that decision isn't definite. So, mostly I'll be focusing on reblogging beautiful gifs/graphics from many fandoms (Shadowhunters, The Walking Dead, video games (Life is Strange, The Last of Us, TWD game), Comedies (FRIENDS, The Office, Parks & Rec,) etc), and occasionally posting my own as well. Not much is going to change from the blog's current state, aside from the fact that SPN is no longer my main fandom and I can freely say that I will no longer be writing for it. Now that you won't be SPN, Can I unfollow you? By all means. If my blog isn't your cup of tea, that is perfectly fine. If you unfollow me because of this post, even if you're a mutual, there will be no hard feelings. I can see myself losing most of my follower base from this announcement, and I think I'm okay with that. And, a final note to my SPN Family (yes, I just dropped the F-bomb): Thank you. Even when you didn't always know, you taught me a lot about being in a tightly knit yet incredibly divided fandom. You taught me how people of entirely different backgrounds and lives can find some of their best friends through a single, almost meaningless thing. You taught me how to stand up for my own opinions, that I can criticize something I like, and that no matter how much you fight with some people, they will always think they are right, even when you believe they are wrong (I learned that last one the hard way on several occasions, ha). Thank you for being something I could enjoy, and thank you for the endless love and support you have offered me. I have made some of my best friends because of this show, and I wouldn't take that back for even a second.

Mobile Friendly Rules

Since I did it for Kurai’s info, here’s the rules for mobile users.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW GENERAL THINGS I FEEL ARE IMPORTANT TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER, SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THEM.

Also another small note beforehand: Due to my autism, I tend to try to be extra clear (but also sometimes manage to be less clear in the process), or in my head it is clear, but to other people, it comes across entirely differently, but I've been informed this makes my rules sometimes come across as more aggressive, exclusionary, or mean. So I will say this now. I am actually a MASSIVE fluffball. Quite literally. The tone they come across is mainly due to overexplaining however I have tried to edit them and have yet to find a way to redefine my rules in better wording that I am happy with and that feels like it covers everything while actually being properly clear (but whenever I finally think of the right wording, I usually update my rules). So just approach them with the knowledge I am actually legitimately a sweetheart and my brain just sucks at actually wording stuff.

- ★ First and most important thing is that the mun has a very serious cannibalism trigger, which includes ANY form of people being eaten (including animals or monsters or any such other creatures eating people). (Excluding vampires, as that doesn’t typically involve the eating of human flesh, and rather simply blood itself. Zombies however, are included). As such, please tag all SNK or Hannibal related posts with such things in them, even the ones without such scenes in them, due to the fact that these two shows/fandoms are the reason I learned I have this trigger, and so the entire thing now can cause my trigger due to association, and memory connection to it. Also I ask that you tag any other shows/fandoms/gifs with such things in them as well. Please and thank you very much. My blacklisted tags are: SNK, Shingeki No Kyojin, Attack On Titan, AoT, tokyo ghoul, tg, Hannibal, Cannibalism, tw: cannibalism, twd, the walking dead, walking dead, zombies, and hunting trophies. Any form of these (capitalization does not matter, however spaces do) will be caught by my blacklist, so I would appreciate it if you’d use one of these for those posts (though I am also happy to add other tags to it as well if you have a specific system you use already). Also suggestions for other possible blacklist tags that I may have forgotten are much appreciated. Also as an added note, I will not follow, RP with, or associate in ANY WAY, any blogs that have to do with my triggers. (Multi-muse blogs can sometimes be okay, this more applies to blogs that post SPECIFICALLY about the fandoms that trigger me). If you are a multi-muse blog that has characters from these fandoms, all I ask is that you be sure to tag them with the fandom they are from, with one of the tags in my list, and tag any of the triggers. We’ll be perfectly fine if you do! If you don’t, I may eventually unfollow, just to avoid seeing unintentionally triggering content.

- I will RP more violent NSFW RPs, however ONLY as long as I am in the mood for them. The mun of this blog is (well) over 18.

- I am slightly fickle about things I can reply to. I try very hard to reply to everything, however one thing I am not good at, is sudden changes in roleplays. As much as I hate to admit it, and try to pretend it isn��t true, and even though I am quite good at managing it most times, I am autistic, (high functioning form of autism) and that is one of the few issues I struggle with the most. If you sense a roleplay is changing directions, please hint at it to me in the tags or something the reply before it does, since even that small little hint can be enough to help keep me from having to drop an RP. Even if you are unsure if it will or not, letting me know that you think it MIGHT possibly happen (since we don’t control our characters) is a huge help to me. This particular issue is the main reason that 95% of my dropped threads end up dropped. And I always feel terrible when it happens, so please help me to get better at this.

- I do not do the reblog from the source thing. I used to try (if I notice it), I am sorry but I have had so many anxiety attacks due to my attention span which I cannot help due to having ADHD, and accidentally reblogging memes and such from someone who has that rule without even realizing it as I am scrolling down the dash because I don’t even realize who reblogged the meme, and then panicking because I realize it later, or get yelled at over it. I follow at least like 30+ meme blogs and the majority of memes on my dash tend to be from the source, so sometimes I don't notice! Roleplay for me needs to remain stress free, because stress can trigger a major/serious depression spell and as of recently I FINALLY am stable emotionally. So please forgive me if I don’t bother with it. Because I probably won’t do it (consistently anyway).

Next topic of discussion.

Concerning OCs and shipping with them (Please see this post for some further clarification on this, since this is the part that I have the most issue with making clear, though I really do try):

The types of characters/OCs I am usually unable to roleplay with, are the following, which includes a list of reasons why.

- ★ Self insert OCs. Really. Please just no. I cannot stand self inserts above all else other than Shipper OCs. Admittedly, there are a rare few good ones out there. However those tend to be very few and far between, and 98% of them tend to fall into the not so good category to put it nicely, and I just.. I can’t do it. There is nothing else to say to this except just NO. I apologize for this, however I just can’t. Also, this applies to FULLY self inserts. This does not apply to characters that simply share some traits with you, as often we roleplay a character because we can connect to them somehow. (This is an issue I am working on getting over, but it takes time.)

Important note: Please note that I suck at explaining this somewhat, and just because my brain struggles with roleplaying with certain characters does not mean I dislike your muse or think they suck! I can think your OC is absolutely AMAZING and they can be SUPER well written and developed and I can want to interact but my brain is just dumb and if I try to my brain just refuses. These SAME issues can happen with canon characters too, I have simply noticed it more with other OCs, thus the specific section for them.

★ I hate to have to do this (and I never used to have a password), however I have had A LOT of trouble with people not reading and following my rules in the past, and or speaking about or talking about/not tagging my major trigger, so if you have read my rules, please inbox me with “Catshark” (I prefer Inbox over IMs for the password so I can keep track forever of who sent it in). I ask this of people because it also helps a lot with my anxiety, and keeps me from wondering and worrying in the back of my mind if I might actually get triggered by something. I know it can be tedious to do this extra step, and I hate that I even had to add this step in the first place, however after years of roleplaying, and dealing with people, it became necessary due to several bad past experiences in tumblr fandoms. It was not added on a whim, so please take the time to do so. Also, I do understand that you probably follow a hundred blogs that all have their own rules, so if you forget stuff, that’s okay! I do it too. The password is just so I know it is safe for me to approach you and remind you of something if you do forget. Otherwise, I tend to sit here and kind of panic about if I can mention something to you, and it means I am more likely to unfollow or stop interacting, or even block you eventually due to my anxiety. And I don’t want that to happen over a silly misunderstanding.

fic reclist! a small one.

this is pretty scattershot. i say often that my primary fandom activity is reading and writing fic. reading mostly. so with that, i read in a lot of fandoms and don’t necessarily do anything else fannish other than read. and rec! so here’s three i’ve loved lately. one is a WIP i’m so sorry.

Born Ready by makeit_takeit (AO3-locked), explicit. longfic, brad/nate (generation kill) just finished reading this, it’s the best thing i’ve ever read in this fandom (i think i’ve read everything in the pairing on AO3). alternating viewpoints, takes place over like 20 years as they grow up (separately) and then together. happy ending!!! which is … not exactly rare in this fandom, but also difficult to imagine? anyway, the author has absolutely nailed both nate’s and brad’s voices, and it’s super hot. oh also, it’s not necessary to have read the book(s) or watched the mini-series. the end author’s note goes into detail about the level of historical accuracy and what changes were and weren’t made and i always find that fascinating, because when you’re writing stories about real people (in this case, characters based in LARGE part on real people and using their actual names) you do have to make those decisions and seeing how other authors decide those things is helpful.

Let’s Give Ourselves Promises of Our Unending by @aimmyarrowshigh, @nichestars, explicit. longfic, cassian andor/shara bey/kes dameron (star wars) it’s not tagged fix-it fic, but in it jyn and cassian are rescued before scarif is destroyed so They Live, and then cassian falls in love with our fave rebel family and they fall in love with him!!!! i’ve rec’d this privately a couple of times, it’s my go-to if someone is looking for well-written star wars fic that doesn’t focus on the big three from the new trilogy. also there’s lovely cassian & jyn friendship. you probably need to have watched rogue one to have a good background for this, but maybe you could get away with no star wars at all tbh, it’s written so well. this is one of those fics that is a novel i’d have on my shelf with the rest of my star wars books.

Ripples on a Black Shore by Mugatu @mugsywrites, explicit, longfic, WARNING THIS IS A WIP!!!!!, daryl dixon/paul rovia (jesus) (the walking dead) sooooooooooo i’ve posted about this before, and i honestly don’t think you need to have watched the tv show to be able to enjoy this fic?? the author has nailed both daryl and paul’s characters and it’s an AU anyway. here’s some helpful imagery, if you’re a masochist and want to give it ago. in TWD, daryl is basically the right hand man of the leader of “our” group of survivors. he doesn’t say a lot, is trusted, known for his crossbow, motorcycle, and stereotyped by new people as the ignorant redneck. i always like the soft parts of his character (in the second season he nearly dies trying to find a lost little girl) and how that juxtaposes with his gruff exterior. jesus – or paul – is a relatively new character on the show, and he’s got kind eyes and likes to help people. he’s a canon gay character in the comics and the tv show (daryl’s sexuality has never been touched on in the show [his character isn’t in the comics at all], though norman reedus has said in the past that if his character were written as gay he would have no problem with it).

the most recent chapter, a christmas miracle present, has them reunited so you can at least get that emotional release, lol, even if the whole arc hasn’t played out. the fic is set after the apocalypse begins and after they are separated, but their backstory is explained through memories. ANYWAY i fucking love it, god.

i think the single greatest gif of this … entire thing i can’t. “you mean as in like a lovey dovey thing?” i have watched this gif so many times??????????????? i will be honest here that when i ventured back into the TWD tag at AO3 to see what was going on, ship-wise, i was super worried that i’d run across tinhatting here on tumblr and so …. i haven’t really looked around too much. just kind of dipping my toe in right now, i accidentally followed 2 andy lincoln blogs (lol) and a couple of tom payne blogs.

temporary farewell & news:

Hi, it’s me, Katie! You guys know me as the girl who loves Jon Bernthal and his characters (what’s up, Frank?), started and never finished TWD Blog Awards, and was generally not into conflict.

I’ve been struggling to determine what I want to do with this blog. I’ve got 600 dedicated followers and friends who I’ve made over the years in The Walking Dead fandom. Stan Twitter seems to be a better fit for the time being. You can find me over at jonnybernthals (shocker, right?).

I’ve also created a new blog over at jonnybernthal. It’s in its beginning stages. I’d hate being on Tumblr without producing my own content (ie. gifs and photosets) but I’m currently in school to become a paralegal. I’m a year in and, in addition, I’ve got a wedding to plan! Big things happening in my life - I don’t quite have the time I used to and I think most of us have branched out in that matter. I plan to come back to Tumblr one day and am a bit selfishly saving my beloved URL. You will see me again. Perhaps I can queue posts while I’m on break? Then. maybe, one day mess around in photoshop.

Now - and my stomach is full of butterflies as I announce this - my biggest news of all. I cannot believe it took me a month to make this post, but this semester was a bear.

On October 27th, 2017. It finally happened. Those who have followed me since my blog’s inception know how much I love this man. Those who have followed me since 2013 know how long I’ve been trying to meet him. October 27th was our quick photo op and October 28th, we spoke. I was a mess, as you can see. I gave him a painting I commissioned of Boss and he said it was going right up in his house. He was so extremely sweet and humble. My heart continues to swell as I type this.

Having a newborn was one of the scariest things that Daryl had dealt with in his lifetime. He was terrified of messing up or making the same mistakes his own parents did with himself and Merle. Throughout your pregnancy you assured Daryl that he was going to make a great dad - but it wasn’t until after this day that he believed you.

Your first day back to work was a challenge for Daryl. He had a little over a month to prepare for it, but he was very afraid. Today he was going to be completely alone with the baby for nine hours. He watched you as you held her in your arms, sweet-talking her as you prepared to leave for the day. He leaned against the wall, an apprehensive look plastered on his face as he watched. You glanced over at him, letting a chuckle escape your lips as you set your daughter down in her crib. “You’re going to be fine, babe.” You say, brushing your daughter’s soft cheek with your thumb before exiting the room to grab your purse. “I’ll be back at six, she’ll probably sleep half of the time I’m gone.” You continue as you gather your items.

Daryl watches you from the doorway between the bedroom and the tiny living room, afraid to be more than a few feet away from his daughter. “She’s your daughter, Daryl, not a bomb.” You joke, heading over to him and placing a kiss on his scruffy cheek. “Bye bye my sweet baby girl, I’ll see you soon!” You call out to her as you approach the door. Your heart is heavy as you leave. You wish you could spend every moment with your little family, but you have to work.

As soon as you left Daryl went back into the bedroom to check on the baby. She was laying on her back, not asleep but resting, looking up at her mobile curiously. “Hey there sweetheart.” He says as he leans down to look at her, his voice softer as he speaks to her. She smiles at her daddy and he feels a tug in his stomach at the sight.

The day carries on fine until she starts crying for the first time. About an hour after you had left she began wailing, startling Daryl from where he sat in the living room cleaning his crossbow. He jumped up from his seat, abandoning his stuff as he rushed to the room. The baby laid there crying in her crib as Daryl panicked about what could be wrong. “Hey hey hey.. Shh, it’s okay.” He cooes as he carefully lifts her into his arms, cradling her against his chest. “What’s wrong babygirl?” He asks as he lightly bounces her. Should he call Y/N? What does he do? What would you do if you were here?

He lifts her up to give her a quick sniff, instantly realizing that she needed her diaper changed. He had changed her diaper plenty of times by now, but he hadn’t done it alone other than when you were asleep. What if he forgot a step?

He carefully lays his crying baby down on her changing table and starts undressing her from her onesie, being extra careful as he works. He looks around nervously as he mentally recalls what to do first. He gags at the smell as he tosses the dirty diaper into the trashbin, scoffing at himself for his own actions. He can skin animals but he can’t change a diaper? If Merle was here he would never hear the end of it.

After a few minutes Daryl managed to finish changing her diaper, taking her with him into the living room to feed her. He watched her as she drank from her bottle, admiring how adorable she was. She had his blue eyes, and her mother’s dimples. He adored his daughter with his whole heart, he never thought he could love someone so much.

Eventually she went into a milk coma in his arms. His muscular arm began cramping from the awkward position but he didn’t dare move it, not risking disturbing his little girl from her sleep. He watched TV with the volume very low, feeling pretty bored and unproductive but reluctant to move.

When you returned home from work you found him laying on the floor with her, playing peek a boo. “Ahh, I see you survived.” You joke as you step inside, smiling at them as he stands up, gathering her in his arms.

“Don’t leave us ever again.” He mumbles in your ear as he presses a kiss to your cheek.

“That bad?” You ask with a chuckle, taking her from his arms.

“Nah. Just stressful.” Daryl responds, watching you with her, trying to fight off his smile as he realized just how lucky he was.
