So, When i first started Genshin I was on some Shit.

I had only rlly played one or two open world games before, and even then not for a long time, so I just like did the stupidest things

I was fighting in those early domains in Mondstadt right, and I had just gotten to the cutscene with Lisa and Traveler, I think thats all who were there

And I had just finished the last battle in the chamber, so I had just deployed Baron Bunny from Amber but killed the monsters before it could go off-

SO IN THE MIDDLE OF LISA TALKING- JUST AN EXPLOSION HAPPENS STAGE LEFT OFF SCREEN AND INTERUPTS HER LMFAO

I LITERALLY APOLOGIZED TO LISA I WAS CRYING LAUGHING SO HARD

(no pls dont make her aware of that for me she would bully me forever)

I FELT LIKE I WAS JUST CAUSING THESE CHARACTERS PROBLEMS RIGHT OFF THE BAT LMAO

So im running around Mond. and I start fighting a Cryo whopperflower for a little while, im not high level yet, and deadass MID SWORD SWING-

THEN I JUST PLUMMET- AND I IMMEDIATELY INSTINCTIVELY LIKE, SO HEARTBROKEN AND DISTRESSED SOUNDING "nOPLEASENOTAGAIN- oh, ohhh my godd" my heart was racinggg i literally sighed and I sat there for a minute breathin heavy 😭😭

My team wouldve had a heart attack and field day with me doin shit like that, theyd be like

honestly,  i  think  the  answer  is  a  mix  of  all  of  the  above?

i  started  playing  genshin  directly  after  unreconciled  stars  rolled  out  purely  because  i  saw  some  fanart  and  clips  of  scaramouche  and  just  found  him  absolutely  delightful  —  and  i  do  mean  that  unironically!  there's  a  very  specific  flavor  of  mean  and  prideful  character  that  really  clicks  with  my  brain.  there  is  literally  no  logical  explanation  for  it;  i  just  find  them  deeply  endearing  when  they're  being  objectively  terrible  people.  it's  like  the  same  feeling  of  "aww,  little  guy"  you  might  get  watching  a  racoon  scuttle  away  with  a  stale  pizza  crust.  scaramouche / wanderer  really  fills  that  niche  for  me  —  i  think  his  personality,  his  dialogue,  his  mannerisms  are  genuinely  the  most  entertaining  thing.  the  scene  of  him  terrorizing  his  subordinates  has  lived  rent  free  in  my  brain  for  years;  he  is  THE  funniest  genshin  impact  character,  no  i  will  not  take  constructive  criticism.

so  it  goes  without  saying,  getting  to  write  ren  is  just  an  incredibly  fun  experience  for  me.  he  is  such  a  strange  person,  and  that's  without  getting  into  finer  intricacies  of  his  psychology.  he  will  just  say  the  most  out  of  pocket  things  with  his  whole  chest  and  not  an  ounce  of  shame.  it's  not  in  a  "haha,  he's  so  random"  kind  of  way  either  —  because  there  is  genuine  thought  and  reasoning  behind  what  comes  out  of  his  mouth.  there  is  also  no  filter  whatsoever,  and  that  combined  with  being  such  a  naturally  intense  person  leads  to  situations  where  he'll  point  blank  tell  heizou  to  try  killing  him  if  he  ever  makes  kazuha  unhappy  before  casually  going  on  to  make  dinner  plans. he's very quotable.  also  i  think  the  quirk  where  he  deliberately  exaggerates  his  nature  as  a  villainous  person  is  just  kind  of  funny.  (  even  if  it  does  stem  from  an  unhealthy  place.  )  sir,  sit  down,  you  were  feeding  stray  cats  fifteen  minutes  ago.

beneath  the  blunt  veneer,  he  is  incredibly  awkward  —  and  again,  not  in  any  sort  of  glamorized  cutesy  way.  say  it  with  me:  ren  is  weird.  he  had  to  teach  himself  how  to  emulate  humanity,  and  there  are  cracks  in  the  façade  —  as  well  as  situations  wherein  he  just  doesn't  care  to  maintain  it.  he's  a  menace. it's easy to miss because he has such a strong personality and presence, but if you ignore the snark and theatrics and look at what he's actually doing, it becomes obvious.

but  i  also  find  the  way  his  mind  works  just  deeply  fascinating.  one  of  my  favorite  things  about  roleplay  in  general  is  choosing  a  singular  character  and  breaking  down  how  they  think.  i  spent  years  writing  a  muse  with  literally  eight  whole  lines  of  canon  dialogue  —  but  those  eight  lines  were  enough  for  me  to  build  an  entire  psychological  profile  and  backstory  out  of.  in  comparison,  wanderer  has  so  much  content  for  me  to  pour  over  and  i  am  thriving.  he's  deeply  sympathetic  and  completely  insufferable.  he's  messy  and  makes  terrible  choices  and  pushes  everyone  away,  but  he's  absolutely  terrified  of  being  alone.  he's  self  loathing  and  confident.  his  understanding  of  the  world  is  warped  and  cynical,  but  he  still  possesses  a  system  of  morality  (  even  if  "morality"  is  a  very  generous  term  )  he  tries  to  operate  by.  his brain is a big spaghetti pile of contradictions that somehow manage to work together. i can literally ramble about him for ages but this post is getting long enough. it's  just  so  refreshing  to  be  able  to  write  a  character  and  not  feel  obligated  to  smooth  over  their  flaws  —  because  it  affords  me  the  opportunity  to  have  him  grow  and  develop  from  them  in  a  distinctly  organic  way.

and  that  kind  of  feeds  into  what  i  want  to  do  with  him  in  the  future.  i  generally  don't  try  to  stick  too  rigidly  to  any  kind  of  clearly  defined  roadmap  for  character  development.  (  though  i  do  like  to  sprinkle  in  subplots  and  story  arcs ...  i've  been  wanting  to  do  a  big  dash-wide  event  at  some  point,  too.  )  i  tend  to  run  my  blogs  like  they  all  take  place  on  one  continuous  storyline with minor branching paths here and there.  if  your  muse  interacts  with  ren,  i  would  absolutely  love  to  keep  writing  with  you  and  building  on  that  relationship  —  whether  it's  a  positive  or  negative  one.  force  this  man  to  socialize.  throw  him  off  a  cliff.  it's  all  very  fun  for  me!

as coy as he can be, kaeya also has his softer moments in which he is more tender and sincere, but he'll usually still carry hints of his flirtatious tone

when he notices you're a bit down, or is just looking for some extra affection, he'll sometimes beckon you into his arms by saying, "come over here, sweetness"

she isn't quite as openly flirty as a certain someone, but she will use these as a way to express her affections

as captain, she does have the tendency to be away at sea for a while, so cute little reunions with her are fairly common

she loves you very much, and will want to be around you as much as possible once she gets back

while she does usually have business to attend to with several merchants, nothing will stop her from actively seeking you out throughout the day

now, while she does have to leave your side often, there is always the occasional sea excursion in which you are fortunate enough to tag along

but even if there is no immediate danger, eula will be constantly looking out for you regardless

she's subtle about it though, and may just use excuses like, "take my hand, darling. i can't have you getting lost now, can i?" to get closer to you

her reason being, that standing near her is safer than anywhere else and totally not just because she really likes holding your hand

she also has the tendency to wake up very early to get a head start on the day, but has no problem if you wish to sleep in

on work days, she's usually gone by the time you get up, but occasionally on her days off, she'll be waiting for you in the kitchen, usually fully dressed, before she gets up to greet you with a sweet kiss and a "good morning, sunshine. did you sleep alright?"

she's also willing to give you dance lessons, if you're open, and won't complain if you step on her toes a few times she actually finds it quite cute

and on nights when it's just the two of you, she might spontaneously ask you to dance with her, usually by offering you her hand and saying, "care to dance, beloved?"

honestly is a total sweetheart himself, and he's not shy about it

you're often the subject of many of his artworks, so try not to freak out too much if you catch him staring at you intensely with a pencil in hand

he just wants to get your proportions right! that and he's totally enamored with you

albedo finds everything about you to be beautiful, and will constantly praise you for looking "absolutely ethereal" (his words)

even if all you've done was pose for him for about thirty minutes, a never-ending stream of praise and words of encouragement will continue to fall from his lips

once he's finished he'll sit back to look at his work, smile, get up, walk over to you, and hit you with a, "thank you, starlight. you always know how to inspire me" and a soft kiss to your cheek

enjoys having you with him to keep him company in his lab at the favonius headquarters, and will often ask for your insight or assistance

and don't be surprised if that request for assistance comes in the form of, "honey, have you seen my crucible?"

he also appreciates having you accompany him on research expeditions in dragonspine, but will become insistent that you bring the proper clothes and warming potions with you at all times
