WTF Are We Doing Here? (Pinned Intro Post!)
This is my website!
My comments are broken! You know what works slightly better than WordPress comments? Tumblr! My few readers are already here and I'm lookin' for more! So, screw it, time for a side blog!
HEY, TUMBLR! FREE BLORBOS RIGHT HERE! AND NARY A ONCELER AMONG THEM!
"Are they traumatized?" I hear you say. YES! God, yes.
"Are they neurodivergent?" I hear you say. YES! AND SO AM I!
"Do they fuck?" I hear you say. YES! But not here, because the algorithm will eat me if they do. I want to be seen! There will be language and probably violence and queerness and political opinions, but don't get me in fucking trouble, Tumblr. I'm gonna get enough flack for the queerness. I'm very fragile. Be nice.
So! Let me babble for multiple paragraphs trying to explain myself to strangers on the internet, like usual!
Tumblr media
This is Milo. If this blog functions the way I want it to, I'll make you some nice reaction images eventually, but Milo in shadow-puppet form will suffice for an example.
Milo says: I don't want to be an example!
Too bad! If you want to talk to Milo, use the ask button and address him by name. He lives in my brain, they all do. I'll get him for you. I'll make him talk.
Milo says: WHAT? *faints*
Well, Milo prefers to communicate in text and images for the time being, so we'll omit the quote marks for him, unless something changes.
Milo says: What? WHAT COULD POSSIBLY CHANGE?
Who knows? It's a very long serialized story and there's lots of character development. That's the fun part! Fixate on, I mean, be very normal about a character and get more and more and more content about them, watch them grow and change and develop relationships, scream at me and at them when you feel like it, and just keep doing that until I get bored or die. What's not to like?
For the moment, I'm the only one working on this story, and I can't afford to hire help, so we're not talking about flawless quality here, but it's free! (Or pay what you want.) So, please,
🌈Lower Your Expectations!🌟
Yay! There are a lot of site issues and there's only so much I'm able to do to fix it. Typos that look like words are my moral enema. If something is so broken you can't read it or understand it, or if I've really hurt you, please drop me a line (via the message box, if it's not for publication) and I'll do what I can. Otherwise, if you like this content and want more, be kind.
I'm autistic and high-masking so you will be speaking to the public-relations version of me. It's as buggy as my site! I'm just gonna be relentlessly positive about everything! Unless I can't. That's not necessarily your fault, but sometimes I can't. So if you're a little ND too, and a lack of response makes you crater - If I don't answer it's probably not because of anything you did. I got a lot on my plate and social ability is always the first thing to go.
Milo says: Preach, Sibling.
The versions of Milo and the others you'll meet will not be the canon versions, nor will their interactions here affect the story. So go nuts!
Milo says: What? No! Be nice to me too!
And, naturally, these versions exist in a context-free void where they can chat happily with strangers from another universe, even if the real ones would freak out and scream
Milo says: You can't mess around with my brain so I can't feel fear! Oh, my gods! I NEED my brain!
No, no. I'm only making sure you don't have an existential crisis due to the context-free void.
Milo says: Oh. Yeah. That's not a big deal. The context-free void has hot chocolate and snacks.
Right, so we're not hurting them. It's fine! It'll be perfectly safe!
Milo says: Yay❤️!
I'll do another post and give you the lowdown on myself and the main cast, including aliases and pronouns. Or, if you've tripped over this out there in your feed, you could always just go read the darn story. It'll take a while. There's a lot of it already. But we'll be here waiting for you! (Don't comment at the site. Are you reading me? You're on Tumblr, you are here to read. Maintain your reading comprehension at all times! The comments are fucking broken.)

Floornight update
The update is here, in two parts. In an earlier posting (below) I promised to go into greater detail about how the "light" is supposed to function, but there wasn't enough time. I also couldn't fit everything I wanted to say into the earlier post. The later posting contains all the promised detail.
II.
The Sphere continues to operate as usual.
Tumblr media
Floornight lives up to its name; we are a floor above ground, or a floor of floors. We remain a floor above "the world," though we can no longer speak to it directly. For one thing, most of it (the ground, and, one way or another, many of the floors) is now outside our sphere, as if we lived on a planet with a thick, impenetrable atmosphere.
I now have four (3, really) full days of work to go through and edit before we start to post the book.
more VII.
I am still at work on writing Floornight. I expect I will post at least one more new segment (let's call it VI.) tomorrow. After that, I need to find time to write some more things I might want to post later in the project, and edit what I've already written. Then I can sit down and work on the next new segment, which I'll call VII.
In all my time writing in this journal, I have never managed to write a long segment all at once. It seems like this has something to do with all the time I waste on trivial matters (like posting on tumblr).
Anyway, I'm hoping VII comes after VI. And I hope it is not far from completion -- although this is not the kind of novel that is supposed to have a clear "end."
There will be a break between VII and VIII. I am hoping that will be enough of a time-out to write at least one more posting, and maybe more. Then, I will need to schedule some time to write VIII. That is more difficult, because I need to get all the planning and editing done first.
VIII.
In the end, Floornight was never meant to be a long novel, and it was never supposed to go for as long as it has. I've just been writing to keep going.
The book will probably be done and ready for posting between the end of the day of August 20th and the end of the day of September 3rd.
Since I am now so near the end, I have had to put on a finishing hat and take charge of the end. I would have preferred to write VII and VIII one after the other, but time was more available to me this morning, so here we are.
There is nothing left of the story in progress that you have been reading. There will be nothing on the tumblr page after this update, and the wordpress site will also disappear once this is all over.
I am posting this and then working for the rest of the day, and then -- if possible -- I will try to work on writing VIII tomorrow morning.
I don't know how well I'll be able to do that -- my energy has been low all week, although I guess I've been in good spirits and my mind hasn't been stuck on trivialities. But it is hard to predict.
IX. Part 1 -- Light
In an earlier posting I promised to write more about the Sphere and its relationship to Light, but I gave only the most general of outlines. I promised to say more about the Sphere's functions, but again this will be vague -- and more than vague.
The Sphere is the light that surrounds the Sphereverse. The Sphereverse is a self-contained little world, created by the Sphere. We can no longer think of it as a whole -- I think we always knew this. There is no longer much of a meaningful difference between the Sphere and its world, or between the Sphere and our world.

NSFW ALPHABET [Vincent Sinclair]
a/n: soo...this is the first time i actually post what i wrote + english isn't my first language (and i feel like there’s still 1000 mistakes in this although i proof-read it like 10 times) so please don't be too hard on me, but feel free to give me constructive criticism :)
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He definitely takes care of you after. He’ll clean you up, gets you a drink if you want...really anything. You need to go to the bathroom? Sure, he can carry you. You’d rather walk yourself? Well, you’re only allowed to go after he’s given you your goodbye-kiss-on-the-forehead. And no, this is not unnecessary because you'll be back in a few minutes, it’s a must.
Once all of that is done he likes it when you lay your head down on his chest or the other way around and you just cuddle and enjoy each other’s company in a comfortable silence.
B = Body Part (their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Vincent has a very prominent v-line. He never paid attention to it until he realized how much you like it and with that it became also his favorite body part of himself.
He loves the curve of your hips and waist. (Whether you are slim or curvy, he absolutely loves it either way!) His favourite thing is when you’re lying naked on top of him, your head on his chest and one leg laying on top of his in an angled position. He won't stop caressing and squeezing your hips.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum basically)
He both loves and hates cuming inside of you. He loves the intimacy of it, the vulnerability you show each other, but he is also scared of the possible consequences, at least at the beginning of your relationship.
He also likes to cum on your chest and belly.
D = Dirty Secret (a dirty secret of theirs)
Vincent has watched you a lot. At first it was innocent glances he stole, later he would make time to watch you from afar going after your daily tasks and the more he started to obsess over you the less he cared about how wrong it was to basically stalk you. It went so far that he once stood before an barely-open door, watching your every move through the small gap while you showered.
It doesn‘t really matter how long you are together, he still does it sometimes. You’ve grown used to it and now even put on a show for him sometimes, pretending you don‘t know he’s right there.
Another secret of his is that he sculpted your orgasm-face. It‘s weird and creepy, but he doesn’t really care. (I’m referring to the faces he sculpted in the walls on the way down to the basement. You’ll find your face there too, just a bit a part from the others.)
E = Experience (how experienced they are)
Not at all. Vincent has been wearing his mask since he can remember. He didn't even consider pressing his wax mask in some girl’s face. Needless to say pressing your lips on wax isn’t really romantic and with that no teenage girl‘s dream. Aside from that he barely left the house. When he was older he had gotten too used to it. In conclusion: He never even kissed a woman and he didn't have sex either.
F = Favourite Position (their favourite position, could possibly include a visual)
I believe it is called the Sphinx Position.
https://littlepennyberry-files-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/i/s/littlepennyberry.files.wordpress.com/2018/12/IMG_3071.png?w=768&h=433
He likes how he towers over you. Not even in a dominant way, but more that his frame completely covers yours. Your body is practically buried by his, but in a good kind of way? It’s just whatever ground you‘re having sex on underneath you and him on top of you; you’re trapped in between, there‘s only him and it gives him a feeling of pride. He also loves kissing and softly biting your neck in that position.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He is quite serious, probably even stiff the first few times you’re having sex. He will get comfortable though and then he‘s a total romantic.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Vincent is almost never completely shaved. He doesn’t have the time for it and even if he did he doesn't think of it as necessary. Nevertheless he’s still always clean down there, just a bit sweaty sometimes from the heat of the fire in the basement.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? romantic aspect, etc.)
Uh, yes? Just yes. Yes, sex is an intimate thing to him. Yes, he is a romantic.
While he overall views sex as something very intimate, his mask also plays a big role. He’s scared shitless of taking the mask off, but he also doesn’t want to wear it while you‘re making love. Besides the fact that it‘s quite impractical, it also makes him feel worthless. He’ll overthink and then believes you’re only having sex with him and want to be close to him or even want him at all when you don‘t have to put up with his face, that you don’t actually care for him and that he isn't good enough. He knows himself well enough though, so he takes it off before he can lose himself in those thoughts (this doesn’t make taking the mask off easier though). In conclusion he rather has sex with you when he is (as a side affect, but that doesn’t really make a difference) vulnerable and therefore sex really is something intimate to him.
J = Jack Off (masturbation headcanon)
Well, first of all...he thinks about sex fairly often. There are also quite a few pieces of his art that have a sexual touch. (Have you seen the couple on the couch in the wax house? They’re going at it!)
He doesn‘t jerk off whenever he thinks about something sexual, but he does jerk off quite often. When he does it he‘s downright filthy. Lies in his bed or preferably sits at his work bench stroking his member at first slow and then faster and faster, throwing his head back, groaning and hissing and then finishing all over his work bench with his eyes closed, imagining it was your body.
He might as well has a few photos and videos of you. Wether he took them with or without your permission is up to your imagination.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Voyeurism. While he does enjoy watching you pleasure yourself, he prefers watching or rather observing you while he fingers you. He’ll spread your legs and position himself between them so that he lies on his elbows, fingering you with one hand and holding you in place (as much as possible from that angle) with the other, his face right in front of your heat. This also gives him the perfect opportunity to have a taste too.
He also has a praise kink. Telling him not to stop? Oof. Telling him how good he makes you feel? Bigger oof. Telling him how pretty he looks? Biggest oof.
L = Location (favourite places to have sex)
He preferably has sex in the basement with you. On his work bench or really wherever, just not directly where he works. You can be as loud as you want, there is a lot of space and lots of opportunities for whatever-you-wanna-try. Plus the house is quite dirty and so is his bedroom and he doesn't want to be that kind of filthy.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Anything can be sexy to Vincent, it really just depends on his mood.
It might be simple, but seeing you naked is his biggest turn-on. I‘m talking completely bare and vulnerable. No towel because you just came out of the shower. No blanket because you’re in bed. No make-up. Nothing. Just you, you’re body being illuminated by the warm light of the candles in the basement. And don’t talk. For some reason it is incredibly sexy to him just taking you in, so pure and perfect. When he sees you like this he doesn't get horny, he just:
Tumblr media
N = NO (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Anything verbal which is respectless and degrading. If you’re into humiliation, that‘s cool. He can spank you, whip you, do whatever you want, but he won’t call you names. Ever. If you call him names he’ll also probably cry.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Vincent loves eating you out. Your taste, your soft moans, you telling him how good it feels... It makes him proud and when he hears those sweet sounds leaving your mouth he forgets all his insecurities for the moment.
It took him a while to discover this though, since he is so insecure. (‘You seriously want that face between your legs?’)
He hasn’t had any experience, but that doesn’t mean that he’s doing a bad job! He knows your body (or the human body in general) well enough to know what will make you feel good. On top of that he’s a quick learner. For everything else he makes up with his enthusiasm.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
He’s rather slow, but still quite rough. He’s a big, strong guy after all.
Also: When it comes to who’s more dominant it really changes with his mood and the atmosphere. He likes hovering over you and trapping you underneath him, fucking you hard but teasingly slow. He likes to hear you whining, whimpering and telling him how good he feels inside of you. You look so beautiful when you stare up at him with big glassy eyes and rosy cheeks. Nevertheless he likes being submissive too, you straddling him, pinning his arms down and telling him what to do and what not to do. He likes being soft to you and he likes being rough to you. He likes you being soft to him and he likes you being rough to him too. He really doesn‘t have a preference.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Vincent doesn’t like quickies, they are almost a no-go. He likes to take his time, since it's something where he feels very vulnerable. Rushing through it isn’t satisfying for either of you in his opinion. He also feels like quickies lack passion and isn’t that what sex is all about?
Foreplay is also important to him. You start kissing him? He will get lost and he won't let you go. Not even for sex. Your having your romantic kiss now and you will have it a while longer. It doesn't matter how horny you are, you’ll have to be patient.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Absolutely! There’s basically nothing he wouldn't try, he just needs a bit of time “exploring“ whatever is new.
He also isn‘t actually disgusted by anything, whatever tools, body fluids or other things are involved. He might be a bit confused about some things you want to try out and isn't naturally turned on by it, but you can probably change his mind.
S = Stamina (how many rounds they can go for, how long they last…)
This totally depends on his mood, but even if it’s one round and no more he‘ll want to make sure you are satisfied. If you go for one round it‘s basically a lot of very intense foreplay, petting and all that, but less of penetration. More rounds means more penetrating sex, but will probably include some longer breaks in between.
T = Toy (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
Nope. He knows they exist, but doesn’t bother to get to know more about it. He has two perfectly fine hands and now you, he‘s good.
If you want to introduce some toys to him though he’ll be interested and willing to try it out.
For some reason he really likes buttplugs, no matter if you use them or if he does.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He doesn’t tease you, at least not intentionally. When he feels like it, he touches, strokes and gropes you, but never because he wants to tease you. It often has the same effect as if he did though.
If you tease him...oh boy. If he doesn’t realize right away that you‘re doing it intentionally he’ll probably react super affectionate, in the sweetest way possible. Once he does realize it he’s confused as to how he should react and he is?? sad?? Like...why are you messing with his emotions like that? You can explain it to him, but he’ll probably never hop on the train and tease back or whatever.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make)
Isn‘t much of a talker during sex, but he does make some noise. He grunts and groans a lot. Whatever you do you’ll probably get a verbal reaction out of him. He surprisingly isn’t even trying to be quiet and isn’t ashamed of it either. He usually doesn’t talk and it’s as if he‘s letting it all out (Charlie Hoyt voice) f o r b a l a n c e.
W = Wild Card (a random headcanon/imagine for the character of your choice)
He loved your taste on his lips, the sound of your soft moans and needy whimpers in his ears, the feeling of your soft skins underneath his fingertips, even your smell. Yes, he loved your smell. The smell of your hair, the particular smell of your body, oh and he loved how you smelled there. He often wondered if this, the way he felt about you, was love or obsession. Probably both, but he didn’t mind. He didn’t mind because he knew you loved him too. And in your own way you were obsessed with him too. Ever since he‘d let you in, you had given your all to show him. And it had only made the feelings stronger, for the both of you. He placed a last light kiss to your heat before hovering over you again to feel your lips on his. The kiss was lazy, almost innocent and to him it felt like he was drowning in euphoria. With your eyelids only half open and a tired, loving smile on your lips you pulled him down to you. And there you two laid, lovers worn out with no energy left from hour-long love making, you comfortable on your back and he on top of you, with his face buried in the crook of your neck, your hand on the back of his head, you placed a kiss to his forehead. It was the last thing he felt before he fell asleep, just this once the first of you two.
X = X-Ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
Let’s put it this way: It makes up for what god took away from him.
He’s above average length and very thick. Not big enough for an unrealistic way-over-the-top porno, but big enough to write a letter about it to your best friend if you know what I mean.
Y = Yearning (how high their sex drive is)
As mentioned earlier he thinks about sex a lot, so he’d always be down for it, but it isn’t a necessity. He’s horny quite often, but that doesn’t mean he needs to get off whenever he’s horny. He can ignore it or take care of it himself, no stress. Unless you want to have sex whenever he’s horny of course, then he‘d also be more than happy.
Z = ZZZ (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He‘s relaxed but won’t fall asleep for a while, so if you do he probably just stares at you and admires you (he even draws you sometimes, but only if it doesn’t ruin the moment).

How To Make Your Own Website and Monetize it?
Tumblr media
By following up with me in less than twenty-four hours, you will be ready to launch a Website that will undoubtedly earn you thousands of dollars every month! How to generate the money? Well, the website that we make will be offering SAAS service.
What is a SAAS service?
A SAAS (Software As A Service) service is essentially an online software or service that you pay to use.
For example, Mailchimp.com, which is a SAAS service, provides email marketing services that you pay for.
Tumblr media
A SAAS service is anything you pay for to get an online service.
Now you can be the owner of a SAAS service, you will have your own Website, and people will subscribe to your service and pay you monthly recurring payments.
Let’s say you have 100 customers who use your SAAS service, and your service costs about $10 a month; you’d make $1000 per month!
All you have to do is sit at home and watch your passive income develop on your computer screen. It’s a fantastic and easy way to earn money.
How to get a SAAS service?
Tumblr media
“How can I get my own SAAS service or software?” you might be wondering. The good news is that you don’t have to create one, learn to program, or even employ a programmer to do so.
You can simply buy it Online for $40–$60. You can buy software from a website called codecanyon
Tumblr media
You can simply visit the website, click on the php scripts and search for SAAS and choose what kind of SAAS service that you preferred.
Tumblr media
There are several types of SAAS applications available for purchase. Discount networks, accounting and billing software, email marketing systems, and employee management software are only a few examples. Take your time browsing the services and choose the one you like best, the one that fits you and you feel that you can be successful with.
Hosting Your Service
After you’ve created your SAAS service, the next move is to host it and make it public. To host it online, you’ll need a domain name and a server.
Now it is sounds hard since you don’t have any technical background in this term. Don’t worry, it is actually a simple and easy steps.
First you need a VPS server, you can visit and buy a cheap one from Bluehost. its only $3,95 permonth with and they give you free domain for 1 year! Check the price below. Buy the “LAMP” administration.
Tumblr media
So What is VPS server? We do what we call “online hosting” when we want to publish a PHP page, script, or some other web application. This basically means uploading the files and database to a public server so that it can be accessed over the internet. On simple word, the place where you put the file is from VPS server.
In this tutorial we will used the shared server from Bluehost. Shared server only means that your server will be host with others website.
Now everything is ready, the only things that matter is how to install it. Let get to it.
Getting Started
After having your own server and domain on Bluehost, you need to connect them. Your VPS Server can be accessed now your Bluehost profile, but of course, we don’t want to access our website though an IP! we want to use our domain name. So simply, we are going to map the domain name to our VPS IP, so then we access the VPS and the WordPress website through both the domain and the IP.
Configure your DNS Records
Simply open DNS management zone in your Domain Provider and edit the main A record.
Tumblr media
Than we need to create MySQL database for the application. So Let’s Create one. Connect to your VPS server using any SSH client like putty. and Let’s start!
Just open Putty and enter the Server IP or Name, and Press Open. It will ask you to login, just enter “root” as the user, then enter your password which is sent to you by email.
Note: while typing the password, putty will now show it for security reasons, but It’s there, just type it!
What’s nice, is that we have MySQL installed already as part of the LAMP Stack, but we need to create a database and a user for out application.
Note: Every MySQL statement must end in a semi-colon (;)
To get started, log into the MySQL root (administrative) account by issuing this command:
mysql -u root -p
You will be prompted for the root password, just write or paste it and press Enter.
First, create a separate database that your PHP application will use. You can call this whatever you want, but we will be using TestDb in this guide to keep it simple. Create the database by running this command:
CREATE DATABASE TestDb DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
Next, we are going to create a separate MySQL user account that we will use exclusively to operate on our new database. Creating one-function databases and accounts is a good idea from a management and security standpoint. We will use the name DbUser in this guide. Feel free to change this if you’d like.
We are going to create this account, set a password, and grant access to the database we created. We can do this by typing the following command. Remember to choose a strong password here for your database user:
CREATE USER 'DbUser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'enter_a_custom_password_here';GRANT ALL ON TestDb.* TO 'DbUser'@'localhost';
You now have a database and user account, each made specifically for Your PHP application. We need to flush the privileges so that the current instance of MySQL knows about the recent changes we’ve made:
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Exit from it by typing :
EXIT;
Upload The Script Files To The Server.
To upload the files, you need an application called WinSCP.
It is a free tool and you can download it from here.
Connect to Your VPS Server using WinSCP, and Update the PHP Files to the server to this path: “/var/www/html”
In most cases, the files would be zipped, so we need to extract them.
Again to Putty SSH CLient and Let’s install the unzip utility using the following command:
sudo apt-get install unzip
Clear putty screen to make in clean using the following command:
clear
Change directory to /var/www/html using the following command:
cd /var/www/html
Unzip the “.zip” file using the following command:
unzip YOURFILENAME*.zip
*Note: the file name may be different in your case, so replace YOURFILENAME with your file name.
Now, Move the latest folder content to the upper directory so it can be accessed directly -> use WinSCP Just copy all the files inside “YOURFILENAME” folder and paste them directly in html folder.
Configure Apache to Publish PHP Website
Well Done, Now your files are uploaded and placed in the html folder, we just need to configure apache so we can our Publish PHP Website and access our script using our domain name. To do so, open WinSCP again and navigate to this directory: /etc/apache2/sites-available/
Now, create a new empty file and name it “yourdomain.conf” . You can replace “Scriptname” with any name you want
Open yourdomain.conf Then copy and paste the content below into the file and save.
<VirtualHost *:80>     ServerAdmin admin@YOUDOMAINNAME     DocumentRoot /var/www/html     ServerName YOUDOMAINNAME     ServerAlias YOUDOMAINNAME     <Directory /var/www/html/>        Options +FollowSymlinks        AllowOverride All        Require all granted     </Directory>     ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log     CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined </VirtualHost>
Replace with your own domain, in my case its “YOURDOMAINNAME”
Enable your script configuration in apache and restart the service.
Now simply, run the following commands to finish the setup:
sudo a2ensite yourdomain.conf sudo a2enmod rewrite sudo systemctl restart apache2.service
ALMOST DONE!
Connect to MySQL Database.
Open your web browser now and navigate to your server name.
Continue the setup by entering the database info and your admin login information. In our example, the database name is TestDb and the user is DBUser with the password set.
That simple!
Setup cronjobs.What are cronjobs?
cron is a Linux utility which schedules a command or script on your server to run automatically at a specified time and date. A cron job is the scheduled task itself. Cron jobs can be very useful to automate repetitive tasks.
For example, you can set a cron job to delete temporary files every week to conserve your disk space. Some PHP web applicaitons, may require you to set up a cron job to perform certain functions.
Setup cronjobs.
To setup cronjobs, you need to add all required jobs to the server. This depends on your script, so if you bought a script from code canyon, the script owner should provide the cronjobs.
To do this, open WinSCP and got to /etc Open crontab file using the editor And paste all the jobs from your script to this folder. (cronjobs are listed in the app documentation)
Make sure each job is on a line and an empty line in the end.
Secure with a Free SSL.
SSL certificates are used within web servers to encrypt the traffic between the server and client, providing extra security for users accessing your application. Let’s Encrypt provides an easy way to obtain and install trusted certificates for free.
Connect to your Server using Putty SSH client. and Let’s Start!
Install the Let’s Encrypt Client
Let’s Encrypt certificates are fetched via client software running on your server. The official client is called Certbot.
First, add the repository to install Certbot:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:certbot/certbot
You’ll need to press ENTER to accept.
Then, Update the package list to pick up the new repository’s package information:
sudo apt-get update
Install Certbot’s Apache package:
sudo apt install python-certbot-apache
Certbot is now ready to be used.
Set Up the SSL Certificate
Generating the SSL certificate for Apache using Certbot is quite straightforward. The client will automatically obtain and install a new SSL certificate that is valid for the domains provided as parameters.
Simply run the following command: (change the domain)
sudo certbot --apache -d YOUR_DOMAIN_NAME
You will be asked to provide an email address for lost key recovery and notices, and you will be able to choose between enabling both http and https access or forcing all requests to redirect to https. It is usually safest to require https, unless you have a specific need for unencrypted http traffic.
That’s it!
Test your website now and it should be SSL encrypted.

This is not how I imagined this would start
Tumblr media
I’ve been toying with the idea of opening a journal-like Tumblr where I would just write everyday stuff as they happen.
I have a blog at ais.blog as many of you might know, but I prefer to write a bit long-form, researched articles on that blog as opposed to daily short-form content that’s more suitable for social networks. But the problem with sharing thoughts and ideas on social networks is that they get buried really deep in just a few months.
So I thought, what better way to give Tumblr a try. I can share the same thing I share on Facebook, but will also have a copy of everything I write on this Tumblr blog. I’ve used Tumblr before, but it was always set to auto-post from my WordPress blogs. With this, I would get to become more familiar with Tumblr, especially since Tumblr is now part of the Automattic family.
I had no idea that when I finally get to start this Tumblr, the whole world would be stuck at home.
I thought I’d share pictures I take outdoors. I thought I’d share food photos. I thought I’d make it an interesting journal just for myself to look back on over the years.
I had no idea what was to come. At a time when the new strain of virus was wreaking havoc in China, and we thought we were safe, we had no idea it would soon leave the Chinese borders and bring the world to its knees.
Now, less than a month later, lockdowns are in place and everyone is stuck at home with various levels of anxiety and fear.
I went out to the balcony today as I heard the nearest mosques announce that the worshippers should stay at home.
That is unprecedented. I’ve never imagined I would see the day when mosques are ‘kind of’ closed. Many would say that the authorities were too late to enforce this -- many countries around the world have done so weeks ago -- and they would be right. We are indeed late to enforce this rule.
But even then, to actually hear the announcement that worshippers are asked to stay at home is surreal.
The scary part of it is not knowing what’s next. And even more worrying is the fact that nobody, not the government, not the world leaders, not even the top scientists around the world, know what’s next.
That is a terrifying place to be in. Nobody expected to find themselves stuck in such a situation with no end in sight. And it affects us in different ways.
People have different ways of dealing with fear and anxiety. But there’s one common thing among all of us: We’re all in this together and we all have the same fear.
I hope we will find ourselves out of this nightmare and get back to the normal life soon.
I published a longer version of this post titled “We are all in this together - the anxiety in these trying times” on Hashtag Dhaka, focused on life in Dhaka.

For both A2 Hosting and Siteground, the expense of web facilitating can be under $50/year during the principal buy, yet the cost will be doubled(A2 Hosting)/tripled(Siteground) during recharging.

Step #4: Install a Theme for the Website Style (30mins)($0 or < $59/yr)
Topic is the general look, introduction, and style of your site.
It makes a really dazzling introduction for a drawing in and engaging site.
There are numerous topics accessible, and each subject has its very own exceptional trademark. Some made for woman blog, some made for internet business and so forth.
There is one multipurpose, my preferred best topic, the WP Astra. What I like the most is the speed and lightweight given. It can serve for blogging and internet business site.

The free topic source more often than not originates from wordpress.org.
There are a few paid subject sources, for example, ThemeForest/StudioPress/MyThemesShop or legitimately from the brand proprietor.
The value go for a paid subject is regularly under $59/year.
The paid topic has further developed highlights and better help contrasted with a free topic. Be that as it may, for a little site/venture, the free topic is typically enough.
How about we pick a topic for your site and set up everything.
In the event that you don't know, you can begin from a free subject and move up to the paid topic later on.
Step #5: Install Plugins to Enhance the Functionality of the Website (30 mins)($0 or more)
Modules are little bits of programming that upgrade the usefulness of a site.
It makes it simple to add additional highlights to a site without requiring the learning of how to compose code.
For example, page developer, SEO, speed enhancement, examination, security, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.
It would be ideal if you perused "8 Must Have WordPress Plugins That'll Grow Your Website (2019)" to look at my preferred rundown of modules.

Substance is a continuous procedure and its motivation is to give a profoundly captivating knowledge to guests. The procedure is rehashed.
The topic introduced accompanies its very own manager for structure content.
Be that as it may, numerous WordPress novices discovered trouble changing and completely redoing page designs to accommodate their inclinations from the first subject's supervisor.
Thus, I prescribe utilizing a page manufacturer module to make the activity simpler and better.
The page developer like Elementor enables clients to do an alternate degree of customization without expecting to compose a solitary line of code.

The Internet is a crowded place. I lately learn there are over 83,000 new weblog posts revealed each hour. Each hour!
So is it even potential to face out in a crowd anymore? Completely. It is in case you have a technique to publish and promote partaking content material.
Need to know what actually drives visitors? From brainstorming your material to scheduling your social media shares? Comply with these content material advertising ideas, and you’ll get observed. Huge time.
1. Begin By Asking Your Audience What They Want
There’s individuals out there who will inform you, “Just write 500 words a day about anything, and you’ll get traffic”. BS! Worst of all the content material advertising ideas on the market.
You might get some visitors, however at what value? A disjointed viewers who you’ll shortly lose in case you don’t work out what they actually need to study from you.
Let’s take a look at some methods you possibly can help clearly determine what your readers need.
Use Popup surveys:
That is the only method is to literally ask your readers what they need to study. I exploit a WordPress plugin referred to as Popup Surveys & Polls to ask questions like, “What are you struggling with in your business?” and “What do you want to learn more about?”.
Each visitor to my website will get surveyed with out me having to raise a finger.
Ask your e mail subscribers:
Use the email autoresponders that go out to your new subscribers to ask what they need extra of. Hey, they agreed to offer you one thing as sacred as their e mail tackle. Meaning they belief you.
Show them you trust their judgement, too, by asking your subscribers to reply with a few sentences explaining what would get them to maintain opening your emails. Information is power.
Analysis your competition
In the event you haven’t established an viewers but, research what’s working for different bloggers who are successfully reaching the viewers you’d wish to have. Google’s search results offers you a reasonably good concept of this.
Simply enter a key phrase phrase like “content marketing tips” to discover what is already rating on the primary web page for that material. Dig into some of these posts and you’ll start to see patterns.
2. Focus On Creating Evergreen Content
What’s evergreen content? It’s content that continues to realize search engine visitors long after it’s been revealed. That is a type of content advertising ideas I’m so glad I paid consideration to early on. For a extra detailed rationalization of evergreen content, take a look at this submit by Neil Patel.
To ensure the content material you publish is evergreen:
Does it stand the check of time?
Ask your self, “If someone reads this article 10 years from now, will it still be relevant? Or will they say, “Oh yeah, I remember when that was actually popular/true/in style/etc.”
Write content material that’s related all yr round.
For example, on my insurance website, I’ve obtained a submit referred to as 6 Secrets and techniques For Recruiting And Retaining Younger Brokers that gets visitors each single day of the yr. Distinction that with one other submit on my website referred to as Memorial Day Weekend Is The Most Harmful Weekend On The Roads. Are you able to guess which one is extra evergreen?
Think about removing publish dates from your posts.
There’s debate about whether this could even be filed beneath “Good Content Marketing Tips”. However I feel it’s value contemplating. Give it some thought. Ten years from now, when somebody finds your submit of their search engine outcomes, will they still click by way of if your publish date is previous and rancid?
three. Inform Stories & Be Your self
The artwork of storytelling seems to be popping up lots nowadays in numerous posts about content advertising ideas. And for good purpose. Individuals naturally need to connect with other individuals. So how are you going to do this with your personal on-line content?
Give actual life examples
For each primary idea you present to your viewers, give them an example. Inform a narrative. Convey up the time you have been goofing around and operating with the trash can from the road again to your home and tripped and fell inside. (My spouse still laughs her butt off retelling that one!)
Embrace the psychology of storytelling
Scientific studies and loads of other lists of content material advertising ideas have proven that we’re hardwired to recollect tales over details. Tales draw readers in. They help individuals make connections between what they already know and the new stuff you’re throwing at them.
Domesticate relationships
If this one appears misplaced in an inventory about content material advertising ideas, assume once more. Individuals need to develop a relationship with you, even when they’re just reading your phrases. Let your character present in what you write. For good instance of someone who writes in their very own voice, take a look at this blog submit creation guidelines from Sara Moss.
For example, my 4 years of school in Boston, after which marrying a Rhode Islander, tends to deliver the slang phrase “wicked [insert subject here]”. I don’t cover that in most of my blog posts. And the reason is that’s how I might speak if I have been having fun with a conversation with you in actual life.
4. Do (Sensible) Key phrase Analysis
Going the “publish and pray” technique isn’t the neatest of content material advertising ideas. It’s essential deliberately develop your content round keywords your ultimate viewers is looking. Luckily, there are tools out there to make key phrase analysis simpler than just guessing.
Google Keyword Planner
The Google Keyword Planner is an effective place to start out getting key phrase ideas. Just pop a couple of keywords or keyword phrases into the planner and…BOOM! Keyword ideas a a lot are ready for you. Just be mindful, these are the same keywords everybody else is seeing in the event that they used the identical search criteria.
To dig deeper for some keyword gems, copy and paste the web site tackle of considered one of your rivals into the “Your Landing Page” subject and then search. Right here’s what you may see in case you search the phrase “bakery shop”.
Buzz Sumo
When you’ve grabbed some key phrases from the Google Keyword Planner, bounce over to BuzzSumo and enter a couple of those keywords into their search subject. What you’ll get is an inventory of posts which are performing greatest for that key phrase phrase (ie: getting a ton of social media shares and web site visitors).
This can change the best way you get your content advertising ideas. Sift by means of the outcomes to get an excellent feel for the kinds of posts you may need to create. Here’s what popped up once I entered the phrase “content marketing tips”.
Google Advertisements
Seems like an unlikely place to do keyword analysis on your content material, doesn’t it? However just assume for a second. Whenever you Google one thing and see advertisements on the prime and sides of the web page, meaning you’ve searched for a keyword that marketers are paying good money for to target individuals identical to you.
Right here’s a few things to concentrate to:
Variety of advertisements on the page – The more you see, the extra in style the subject you just searched for. That’s good.
Advert copy – Refine your key phrase analysis by paying close attention to the language marketers are using to get individuals to click on on their advert.
Your personal Google Analytics results
Google used to point out you just about each key phrase visitors searched for to seek out your website. Gone are these days, my good friend. But they do nonetheless show you some keywords. Use your Google Analytics account to seek out the keyword phrases that slip via.
What you’re more likely to find are key phrases you’re not intentionally making an attempt to rank for. Use these to create new posts which might be unique variations of what you originally wrote on that matter. Look for a twist or a special approach.
In the event you’re seeing the key phrase phrase “content marketing tips” show up, attempt writing about “content marketing tips for small businesses”. The chances are infinite.
5. Create Engaging Titles
You possibly can write the shiniest, sexiest submit about constructing an effective buyer referral program. But when you’re title is “meh”, you possibly can overlook individuals truly studying it.
Writing engaging titles is crucial for content advertising success. It’s what will get readers to click on in your content material and then share it. Pay shut consideration to those next few content advertising ideas.
Lure them in.
Does your title pull the reader in? Does it beg for an answer or rationalization? An awesome example of an attractive weblog title (and an excellent submit on the subject itself) is: Easy methods to Write Killer Titles That Can Sell a Fur Coat to a Wookie. I still reference again to this submit right now when writing my titles.
Maintain it brief.
The cutoff point for what search engine outcomes display is round 60 characters. So maintain your titles brief and to the point.
Hold it relevant.
Nothing hurts your bounce price greater than utilizing a deceptive title. In the event you trick visitors into considering they’re about to get one thing they’re not, your submit gained’t present up close to the top of search outcomes for long.
Embrace your keyword phrase.
Absolutely embrace your keyword or keyword phrase in your title. For extra punch, put it at the start of your title
Make it an inventory.
By far the preferred blog posts on the internet are record posts, or “listicles”. These appear to stand the check of time more than some other sort of weblog publish. For those who take nothing else away from these content material advertising ideas, write an inventory publish.
And when applicable, use odd numbers in your listing. There’s plenty of studies that present readers are likely to view odd numbers as more reasonable.
6. Make Your Content Easier To Learn
This subsequent set of content material advertising ideas is crucial for maintaining visitors on your page longer. Longer “dwell time” is sweet in your Google rankings.
Based on CoSchedule, lower than half of your blog readers truly learn past 100 words. For probably the most half, this has to do with readability. So how do you repair this?
Write like Hemingway.
Ernest Hemingway was the grasp of writing brief sentences. You ought to be, too. ‘Nuff stated.
Hold your paragraphs brief.
I’m a former high school English instructor. It nonetheless makes me twitch once I see articles that drone on and on with no breaks. Maintain your paragraphs to no more than 3 or 4 sentences. It’s simply simpler on the eyes.
Guide your readers with headings.
Not solely do headings assist with web optimization (once you use h1 and h2 tags). Additionally they help readers who’re in a hurry scan your publish for the main points. Headings assist them shortly determine whether or not it’s what they have been on the lookout for or not. In case you information them along, they’ll stick around longer to dig deeper.
Use photographs, video and bullet points.
Utilizing rich media and bullet points additionally assist break up your content into more usable chunks. Not to mention, content with photographs and video get shared more ceaselessly than content material without.
7. Optimize Your search engine optimization
Search engine marketing (search engine optimization) is the stuff baked into your content material that gets it found when individuals put keywords into sites like Google. Loads of bloggers promoting content material advertising ideas say optimizing your search engine optimization is the primary approach to get long term visitors to your web site.
The simplest option to be sure to’re optimizing every publish is to make use of a WordPress plugin like Yoast web optimization. Here’s how it works.
Focus keyword
Start by getting into your keyword or key phrase phrase it into the Focus Key phrase section. Yoast will then guide you thru optimizing your submit round this key phrase.
search engine optimization title
Your search engine marketing title is what exhibits up in Google’s search results. It needs to look good if you’d like readers to click on. Yoast warns you when your title will get too lengthy or doesn’t include your keyword phrase.
Meta description
Your Meta Description exhibits up in Google’s search results right under your search engine optimisation Title. Should you don’t fill out this part, Google will pull in roughly the primary 160 characters of your blog publish.
So, in the event you’re following these content material advertising tips to the “T”, it’s to your advantage to make use of the Meta Description to make sure your key phrase phrase exhibits up in search results. It’s your commercial to lure searchers to learn your content material.
Page Evaluation
This part incorporates more advanced indicators of whether your submit is on monitor or not for being nicely optimized. Yoast makes it simple by shade coding every item purple, yellow or green. Principally, all you need to do is repair each merchandise until all (or most) are green.
Those I give attention to probably the most are: inner links, photographs, key phrase usage and readability score.
8. Make It Straightforward To Share
Should you’ve adopted these content advertising ideas and finished your job proper, your posts will begin seeing some visitors. It might solely trickle in at first. So ensure that your content is straightforward to share.
Use social sharing buttons
Each web site value their salt has eye-catching social sharing buttons to permit visitors to share your content material with one or two clicks. I exploit SumoMe on my websites. It’s extremely versatile and there are free versions of all their plugins.
The SumoMe Share plugin lets you:
select your most popular social buttons (even which buttons present up on desktop vs. cellular).
choose the place(s) on your page to show the buttons.
determine whether or not or to not display the variety of shares (per social community and complete for all networks).
handle which pages/posts on your website to show the share buttons.
Click on To Tweet
If you want to entice your readers to share your content material on Twitter, there’s no better WordPress plugin than Click To Tweet by TodayMade. Give it a shot by clicking the textual content under.
Make your pictures straightforward to share
The same folks that developed the Share plugin I mentioned above have additionally created a depraved easy strategy to make any picture in your website shareable. And it’s cleverly named Image Sharer.
Once installed, just choose which social sites you need to show when guests hover over photographs. That’s it!
Give it a shot by hovering on the image under and sharing it in your favourite social website. Notice how the whole title “10 Content Marketing Tips To Drive More Traffic” is about because the default share textual content. Fairly cool, huh?
Embed alt textual content in your pictures
Probably the most missed content material advertising ideas is using alt textual content in your pictures. Because serps can’t read what’s in your photographs, it is advisable to inform them what your picture represents. That’s where alt text is available in.
Whether you’re utilizing WordPress or another editor, you’ll be capable of enter alt textual content to describe your image. Ensure that to make use of your key phrase phrase the place relevant to offer your publish a bit of increase. For instance, I’ve included the phrase “content marketing tips” into several of my alt text tag for this publish.
Embrace your Twitter deal with in sharing plugins
Encouraging readers to share your content material on Twitter is a superb begin. Simply don’t overlook to attribute your arduous work to yourself.
A lot of the sharing plugins talked about here can help you embed your twitter deal with within the tweet that’s generated once they share it. Simply examine the settings for every of those plugins and you’ll discover something like this:
9. Enlist An Army Of Promoters To Unfold The Word
As with something in life, if you wish to spread the word, you want individuals’s help. With regards to advertising your content material, nothing is more necessary than creating a core group of influential associates to carry your message far and extensive.
Use the “buddy system”
As you share content, you’ll naturally develop a smaller core group of “buddies” who like what you’re throwing down. Most of my peeps are within the insurance coverage business, and most I’ve never met in individual. But we’ve turn into so intertwined, it’s like we’re all in class collectively.
If I’m writing a publish like this on content material advertising ideas, I simply ship my buddies a fast e mail to let them know I feel it’s proper up their ally. 9 occasions out of 10, they share it, without me asking them instantly. When you make somebody really feel particular by giving them one thing unconditionally, you’ll by no means need to ask for a favor.
Give first to get what you need
Be a giver. Not a taker. This works notably properly on Twitter and LinkedIn. Retweet. Retweet. Retweet.
On LinkedIn, develop relationships with different contributors by commenting on their posts and sharing them together with your community. Don’t overlook to tag them! And in case you hold the dialog happening their publish, they’ll discover you and certain return the favor the subsequent time you publish something.
Harness the facility of Twitter lists
Make an inventory in Twitter of people that persistently favorite or retweet your tweets. If they’re displaying you’re keen on, then placing them in an inventory will make it simpler so that you can:
frequently retweet their content, to keep the love practice shifting.
know who to tag in your future tweets which might be relevant to them.
10. Use Social Media Scheduling Instruments
The final and most powerful of those content material advertising ideas is to keep your content editorial calendar full. These instruments make it straightforward to constantly share your content material to drive extra visitors to your web site:
CoSchedule
In a current submit, I went into detail about why CoSchedule is my go-to content material advertising calendar. In a nutshell, it’s a drag-and-drop advertising calendar with straightforward social media scheduling.
Probably the most powerful function about CoSchedule is the power to simply re-schedule previous blog content. Plus, it integrates tightly with WordPress, allowing you to schedule social media shares earlier than you even publish your weblog.
I grew my Twitter following by 17% in the first week of using CoSchedule just by rescheduling previous content material.
On a aspect observe, CoSchedule also places out a whole lot of great content material advertising recommendations on their blog. You may need to verify them out.
HootSuite
Earlier than discovering CoSchedule, Hootsuite was my principal content advertising calendar. What I exploit it for now’s scheduling posts to LinkedIn Groups.
I can make the same publish to 30+ Groups in one go utilizing HootSuite. Their API nonetheless permits this, whereas CoSchedule’s doesn’t. It saves me hours of time every week. And my posts to LinkedIn Groups get clicks and shares for weeks after being revealed via HootSuite.
Buffer
The first two social media scheduling tools I discussed are nice for sharing your personal content material. However I exploit Buffer solely to schedule shares of different individuals’s posts (You down with OPP? Yeah, you realize me!)
I spend about 10 – 15 minutes each morning reading by means of my Twitter and LinkedIn feed. Anything that’s value sharing gets “buffered” using their Chrome plugin or my iPhone’s “Share Via” button.
What are your favorite content material advertising ideas?
I hope these content advertising ideas have impressed you to make some constructive modifications in your general content material advertising technique. By implementing just some of these, you need to see a big improve in visitors to your website.
Above all, write about one thing that interests you. You’re potential to persuade individuals you care about your subject is crucial to them clicking and reading your posts. In the event you’re not enthusiastic about what your writing, none of those content material advertising ideas matter.
I do love to hear from you. So let me know which content advertising ideas are driving probably the most visitors to your website in the feedback under.

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The SumoMe Share plugin lets you:
select your most popular social buttons (even which buttons present up on desktop vs. cellular).
choose the place(s) on your page to show the buttons.
determine whether or not or to not display the variety of shares (per social community and complete for all networks).
handle which pages/posts on your website to show the share buttons.
Click on To Tweet
If you want to entice your readers to share your content material on Twitter, there’s no better WordPress plugin than Click To Tweet by TodayMade. Give it a shot by clicking the textual content under.
Make your pictures straightforward to share

Give it a shot by hovering on the image under and sharing it in your favourite social website. Notice how the whole title “10 Content Marketing Tips To Drive More Traffic” is about because the default share textual content. Fairly cool, huh?
Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Grow your business Exponentially
for only $2 a day!!
Before we begin I want to give you a little checklist of the things you will need in order to complete this process. Most of it is pretty simple stuff you should already have. If not then you will need to.
 1.      An email (it can be whatever email you use for your business)
2.      A payment method for managing your accounts - credit card or at least an active prepaid credit card with VISA/MASTERCARD logo.
3.      A little bit of time to set everything up.
4.      An idea of the kind of business you want to start or an existing business
That’s it!
Anything else that is recommended throughout the guide that you may need on the way is not essential but may be convenient for you to have.
The first thing that any business needs to do, is be accessible to its customers at any time. Of course the easiest way to do that is for any business to have a website. Once you have that website you want to gain your customers and keep those customers continuously thinking of your business anytime your business can fulfill their needs. Here is a step by step setup on how to only setup your business to be successful in doing that, but also setup your business so that it is most cost effective for you.
First things first, as a business owner you want to make sure that anything you do will be profitable and allow you maximize your opportunity. So, I want to make sure that as an entrepreneur you are maximizing your ability to use this information to increase your business. To do that, you want to make sure that your business is setup to receive the best possible benefit from any expense put into your business. Even if it is $2 a day.  In order to do that you want to make sure your business is setup properly. If your business is already setup and established and this information is just going to help further along grow it the you ca go ahead and jump to the next section. However, if you are just starting out then you would want to follow this step by step.
Now keep in mind this is a brief overview so I wont be getting down to the nitty gritty of everything but enough so that it will set you up for major success or at least give you a good starting point.
Now for some of you who don’t yet have a business or may have already have a business you may want to do this first. Keep I mind as a disclaimer this is in no way shape or form any financial or legal advice and any and all content going forward does not hold the creator(s) of this content responsible for any outcome should you chose to go forward. This is for informational and educational purposes only. Now that that is out of the way…….
Step Number 1: Legally Establish a business
By this we mean form a separate entity to do your business. Most entrepreneurs/business owners start out by doing things as a sole proprietor. Not that it is anything wrong with that, its just a lot of things that can go wrong with that for one reason or another. The reason why we state this no matter what industry you are in are for many but we’ll mention a few key reasons here now and show you the easiest way to have your business setup for you. If you already have a business entity setup, then you can go ahead and jump to step #2.
Now some of the main reasons you want to establish a real business are as follows
·         Protect yourself from being personally liable from lawsuits
·         Be able to extend your tax write off amounts
·         Appeal to your audience more and grow your business
With having a legal business entity established anything you do will keep you free and clear from someone making you personally responsible. Because if the business goes bankrupt that is fine just start another one. But if you get sued, well it maybe a little harder to come back from that. One of the best things about having the business is the financial benefit you get. Just about every expense you have pertaining to your business is tax deductible against the business income, even your $2 expense to grow your business. This means more money in your own pocket and less in uncle sam’s. Even the little things you may not even think of such as your cell phone bill, meals when you go out to eat, heck even this $2 a day marketing business plan is going to grow your business. Again speak with your accountant or financial professional about how that will apply to your business.
Another important thing, is that establishing business separate from yourself will look much more appealing to your audience as well as other potential businesses, or business clients. It gives your customers the sense of satisfaction that they are dealing with their preference of a company on whatever scale they prefer (big or small) and also allows other businesses to see that they are dealing with a likeminded organization. Win Freakin Win Baby!
All that is good to know but wait…. What if you don’t have the time or resources to learn how to go about doing all the legal paperwork to legally form a company? Good you shouldn’t be wasting your time to doing that anyway you are a business owner leave the paper work to the professionals. The best way to do that is to hire the professionals. Now what is the easiest way to go about this? Simple, You can spend your time going around town trying to find a local accountant or lawyer or just keep it simple and hire the pro’s at INCFILE. There are many other organizations that do this like legal zoom and even local professionals. However, through our testing, experience and surveys, we have found that INCFILE has been not only the easiest, hassle free way to do this, but also the most cost effective.
There are plenty of reasons why we are recommending them. Because for but mostly these:
Folks let me tell you for $49 and getting all of this you honestly couldn’t get a better deal! Had I known this when I first started doing my own businesses I would’ve saved my self so much more time and research. Take a look at the packages they offer and I’m sure they will try to upsell you (which is normal of any business) so make sure what you they offer you is essential but for the most part the $49 + state fee package is all that you need. There is no better place that will help you with How to start your business than going to INCFILE.
Once you get all your paper work back it may be a good time to open up a business bank account. This is fairly easy to do as well. Just take your paperwork into the bank of your choice and they’ll let you know what the requirements are to open a business account with them.
 Step #2 Setup your business
Time to get a domain for your business. The best place for this cost wise is definitely going to be google domains or namecheap.com for the best. Now if you already have a business website go ahead and skip on to step 3 because more than likely you’ll need to start there. $12 for a year isn’t bad to have your business website name. Pretty simple process just search for what you want your business website to be called, once you find it. Pay for it and voila! No tricks, no gimmicks just pay your $12 get your domain and move on. Now that you have your business website name setup now its time to get that website built. Step 3 will walk us through that crucial part.
 Step 3 Website Wonders
So you have your website name now what? Now its time to make that website! Now for some of you you may already have a website and everything already constructed. Even better you just have the easier part of this step to do. Now for those of you who don’t. You can easily make your website
Both places (google domain & namecheap) in fact, any place you go to buy your domain may also offer web design to create your site along with other things such as advertising your website as well. Although it sounds convenient it is not recommended for many reasons. Mainly, you dont want to have your website suppressed which is typical with domain hosting companies when using their advertising. You’ll want to have your website set up for peak optimization and be able to run smoothly for your clients at any and every moment. Trust me the last thing I hate is going to a company’s site and waiting for the page to load. Most consumers by then have already lost interest on continuing on to the site. This is major must for any of you running an e-commerce business. Well actually, any business who is dealing with many products or even just having high definition photos or even simple youtube videos on their site. If your site is barely loading or taking forever to operate or be found by the ones looking for you its simply a waste of space.
How do you make sure this isn’t you?
So first you want to make sure your website is using wordpress. Wordpress is used pretty much any and everyone on the internet who has a site for countless reasons. If you don’t know how to install wordpress on your website and are doing it yourself, there are plenty of youtube. videos on how to do so. Just type I (How to install wordpress for nanmecheap / googledomain) We wont go into those benefits right now because we’ll be here all day but just know you want to have wordpress.
Once it is installed, There are many wordpress tutorials you can find on how to design a website. But if you’re anything like me and don’t want to take the time to do and learn all that just have someone else do it. You can easily find somebody to design a website for you for cheap now and days. But of course you’ll more than likely get what you pay for but at the same time you may not need all the bells and whistles. So you can head over to fiverr and higher a developer for a couple of bucks. I’ve actually had a few on them design a couple of my sites for cheap and they did outstanding jobs. $7 got me some pretty good sites designed. From a basic website to a complex ecommerce site there are web designers of all types there. Of course you will need to provide them with the password and/or Cpanel access to your domain and website but you can change it afterwards.
Here is where your Secret weapon comes in!!!
Once your site is up and the way you want it you now need to get it on over to Kinsta. Especially for you ecommerce stores using woo commerce, shopify, or any other online shopping setup, Kinsta is going to hands down be the best platform to support your site. With them you’ll be able to spend less time worrying about your website and more time growing your business. Whether you need to roll back your site or you’re hit with a sudden surge of traffic, Kinsta’s got you covered every step of the way. Also, Kinsta uses google cloud platform so you have which will allow your site to be secured and fast globally. This is probably the bulk of your expense being that it is going to cost a minimum of a $1 a day but trust me the support and service is definitely worth it.
If you don’t find yourself for some particular reason like using Kinsta you can also use SiteGround. And for $4 a month it is by far the best hosting site you could use. Many people still report seeing substainal change in not only their site but the traffic and sales too when switching over to either one of these hosting companies.
  Step 4: Stay in Touch

My Argument With The Marxist Intellectuals (Part 2)
This article was spurred by a video I watched promoting the ideas of Karl Marx. The YouTube channel, The School of Life, had a video that shifted the conversation of Marx’s ideas. This prompted me to counter this portrayal of Marx.
Read Part 1.
Capitalism is Very Unstable
Marx stated that capitalism is very unstable. This is an interesting claim. It seemed that it might be fitting to be made when he claimed it, but in 2018, we can see just how damaging socialism has been. I hate to play whataboutism, but it is important that we note that we saw the fall of a country move from a capitalistic economy to a socialistic economy; Venezuela. Capitalism is not without its problem, but capitalism is responsible for lifting more people out of poverty than any other system ever created by man. What do I have to cite for that claim? History.
While some capitalists may make claims similar to those Marx attributed to them like “depressions are rare and may never happen again,” I would venture to guess that most people, unless you work for the Federal Reserve, understand that we live in a business cycle that has a boom/bust teeter-totter effect to it. Most of the depressions and recessions have been predicted.
Some Marxists might argue that capitalism is unique in that it creates a crisis of abundance. This is just silly. The fact is still property rights. Just because I have ten bananas in a room with nine other people does not mean that everyone gets a banana. Marxists think that we can just give everyone everything they need—for free. Just because we have an abundance of extra houses on the market does not mean that people who do not have a house get one. Someone owns that house. They have money in it. That have put time, labor, and resources into it, and the Marxists think it is okay to simply steal it from them to give it to someone else, once again, no matter if the disparity is self-inflicted or not.
The Economy Only Needs a Few Workers
One of the craziest claims that I found Marx making was that only a few people need to work in an efficient economy. Only a select number of people would need to work in order to provide for the masses, and allow everyone else to pursue their dreams. How do they decide who works and who does not? Where is the actual incentive to work? This is simply based on an idealistic utopian view that a large mass of people will just want to work to provide for everyone else. This egalitarian thought leader seems to have left behind his “equal” ideals in order to entice the lazy into thinking that this way of central planning will work to their benefit if they just scream loud enough. Marx further perpetuates the idea that unemployment equals freedom, but why don’t you ask a homeless person how that “freedom” is working out for them?
Capitalism is Bad for Capitalists
Marx had a claim that marriage was considered bondage because it was centered around some kind of economic benefit. This would mean that individuals could not marry a person they love and instead they would have to marry for economic benefit. This was a survival tactic that even the poor would use to try to survive, but this was not limited to the poor. The rich would marry for the exact same reason. Land, armies, riches, etc were motivators for the richest of the rich to marry one another. However, this is not something that you will ever be able to get over. People marry and breed for a number of reasons. Some of the Alaskan natives began to marry off their women to the Russians in hopes of being able to have a “more intelligent” child and further their bloodlines. This was due to how technologically advanced the Russians seemed to be in comparison to the Alaskan natives. Alaskan native women also would marry the Russian men in hopes of not having to work as much as they had to in the village because they would be part of the Creole class.
The Marxist might say that material items or money has no objective value, rather they might claim that people value things that have no objective value. Still, I think that this is pretty narrow-minded as a basic understanding of economics demonstrates that people have preferences and ascribe value to items differently than others. How would any one know what I actually value and what I do not? I think that you can see a move away from socialist ideas in most countries that have implemented them. It is noticeable that people are valuing socialism less and less, which is a very capitalist approach. In the euro-states, we can see that places are moving away from socialist and communist ideas, despite maintaining a welfare state. However, it is becoming evident that change is even taking place there. Even some unfavorable countries, like China, are starting to find value in capitalist ideas.
Okay, so maybe capitalists are not inherently evil, but they teach us to be anxious, competitive, conformist, and politically complacent? I am sure that Stalin, Lenin, and Mao were all encouraging people to be individuals and to seek their full potential (I hope you caught my sarcasm there). The truth is that those socialist/communist dictators were interested in tearing down the individual. They sought to make everyone conform and be politically complacent. Our country votes on a new executive every four years with a term limit of two. This is not exactly the recipe for developing political complacency. I would argue that there is a need for other term limits along with other issues, but we are far from “politically complacent.” Furthermore, I think that a whole paper could be written on the benefits of competition, but for the sake of brevity, I will just list a few; higher quality, lower prices, more products, better offers, greater perks, and more.
Join me for the next article where we will dismantle more of the points laid out in this video.

[Review] Tales of Vesperia: The Brightest Star in the Night Sky Doesn't Shine as Strongly as I'd Hoped
View On WordPress
Warning: Contains allusive/thematic spoilers.
The day is finally here! Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, containing content previously unseen outside of Japan, has finally been released, so that us English speakers and/or non-PS3 owners can experience the new storylines, characters and features for the first time! Alas, this isn’t a post about that, firstly because this post is going up day-of-release and I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, and secondly because I am writing this from outside of the country and won’t be united with my pre-ordered copy until I return next week, RIP.
Therefore, this post is written from the point of view of someone who has only played the Xbox 360 version. I will try to keep it brief for the sake of not spoiling newcomers to the game, and also hopefully not to complain about things that are fixed (or broken??) in the Definitive Edition.
Tales of Vesperia is a game in the long-running “Tales of” franchise from Bandai Namco, the first one in HD, originally released for the Xbox 360 in 2008, later receiving an updated PS3 version in 2009, exclusive to Japan. Like many older fans, my introduction to the Tales of series was with Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube, and I fell in love hard; I was therefore extremely excited to play the next games, but unfortunately, I never owned the platforms for them until very recently. Along with Tales of the Abyss, Vesperia and Symphonia form the “holy trinity” of games in the series almost everyone loves; find a Tales fan and ask them their favourite game, and the answer will likely be one of those three (note: I’ve heard very good things about Graces and the two Xillia games, but unfortunately haven’t had a chance to judge them firsthand myself). The three games, while not directly related in terms of plot or setting, share a lot of things in common, as they had mostly the same creative team, often referred to as “Team Symphonia” (as opposed to “Team Destiny” which made most other games since then). One notable difference is the scenario writer, Takashi Hasegawa, while Symphonia and Abyss were written by Takumi Miyajima.
The Tales series is known for its reliance on anime and JRPG tropes, often used in a way that plays off cliché expectations only to then layer plot twists and character development and produce a much deeper experience than what would be expected from the get-go. When used effectively, these methods produce a story that is both fun and emotionally challenging. Tales of Vesperia is no different, offering a cast of archetypes that should be highly recognizable to those familiar with the genre, and yet this may be best set of characters in a Tales game. The party has impressively good banter, chemistry and dynamics and several scenes had me laughing out loud or yelling, and I never had a bad time watching their relationships unfold.
Unfortunately, the game spares little time fleshing out backstories or learning more about each individual character outside of the main plot. By the end, I was left wanting, as the cast was so endearing and vibrant, yet I knew next to nothing about them aside from what had been relevant to show onscreen. I longed for more information about where they had come from and how they had gotten where they were, but it is a testament to the strength of the character writing that their storylines reached a satisfying conclusion despite this relative sparse amount of information about them. “Backstory is not story”, Craig McCracken and Frank Angones were fond of saying to fans of Wander Over Yonder, but for a game with the size and scope of a 60-hour JRPG, not providing that window of information feels like a hole in the worldbuilding.
Mechanically, Vesperia builds on the model established by Symphonia and refined in Abyss, where combat takes place in a 3D arena and the player can run around, hit enemies and rack up combos fighting game style (the franchise calls this “Linear Motion Battle System”). While Symphonia was in 3D, it restricted the player to a single side-to-side corridor of action. Abyss added the ability to run around in 3D space by holding down a button, a feature Vesperia also has. This makes combat easier and more fun, as nothing is quite as satisfying as avoiding an attack and then running around and hitting the enemy from behind. And, as the game allows up to four players controlling different party members, and I have a player 2 (shoutout to my roommate Opal), Vesperia’s system is the most well-suited to multiplayer. If nothing else, I never felt lost while on the battlefield yelling for backup. The one major flaw is that boss fights come with massive difficulty spikes and I often had to grind and formulate careful battle plans with Opal just to not get continuously massacred by bosses.
Storywise, Vesperia starts off very strongly, sort of peters out near the middle, and then the third act falls apart. At first the theme is anti-authority, with a protagonist who grew up in the slums, neglected by nobles, who became a knight and then quit out of disillusionment when it turned out all they did was squabble about politics, and the inciting incident and early driver of the plot is his quest to “fix the plumbing” as a popular Tumblr text post put it. It’s clear Yuri has all the reason in the world to not trust authority and he even goes full vigilante against unjust abuse of power, but while this thread seems like the most important theme in the story, after a while so many other elements come into play it ends up lost and doesn’t really make much of an appearance except to highlight the differences between Yuri and Flynn’s approaches to life and how they prefer to help people. On its own it’s a compelling idea, but it never gets the follow-through it deserves, and my expectations were certainly subverted—but in a bad way.
It’s hard to talk about the third act without spoilers so I will probably come back to it for a proper analysis at a later date, but its ultimate message was already kind of limp in 2008 and is even more laughable now. For a game whose initial premise was so strongly against authority, the ultimate resolution of the main conflict reads as incredibly daft in light of just about everything that is happening in politics at the moment. There’s a very strong environmental allegory and the comparisons to climate change are not subtle, but the writers probably bit off more than they could chew because realistically trying to solve this problem in the time the story allotted would have been next to impossible; I still would have hoped the implications of the given solution had been actually explored instead of settling for an “oh well, guess everything’s been fixed now”.
I’m being harsh about the plot because to me Vesperia has a lot of wasted potential. Don’t get me wrong: I do love this game. It is in fact up there with the holy trinity as far as my opinions of the series go, but it lands in third place out of the three because it just fails to live up to what its first half promises about the world it created. To put it bluntly, if the story had just ended at the conclusion of the second act, it would have been much stronger. That the game continues for another 20 hours on a completely different track with an unsatisfying, unrealistic conclusion is a huge shame because it brings down what could have been a real masterpiece of tropey anime JRPG narratives. I live for that stuff, there’s a reason I want to play every Tales game, but that’s what makes this letdown the most disappointing. At least the characters themselves get good conclusions; it is unfortunate I can’t say the same for the main plot.
Despite all this I think Vesperia is a worthwhile experience, and one of my favourite things about is its aesthetic sense. Every location is immersive, polished, and the pinnacle of what I want to see in a videogame, to the point I dream of Symphonia and Abyss remakes made in the same style (and every other game in the series, to be honest, but that seems unlikely with the direction it’s taken since then). I genuinely cared about the party and I wanted to see them succeed and I was ultimately happy that they did even if I did roll my eyes a lot. The combat was so satisfying and so fun to play with a player 2 it makes me twice as mad that Zestiria’s camera goes completely wild during multiplayer and prevents me from joining in. I should note that for someone who plays as many games as I do I am notoriously terrible at them so I heavily favour story over mechanics, but Vesperia is a game that reminds me that engaging gameplay can make a huge difference. Yeah, I suck, but at least I’m having fun while sucking. That’s more than I can say for a lot of games.
If you like JRPGs, games that let you run around and hit things, or fun and intriguing character dynamics, you’ll probably like Tales of Vesperia. If you’re looking for a coherent story from start to finish, you’ll probably disappointed, but there’s just enough there to keep you engrossed until the end. Overall, Vesperia is solid, and the parts it fumbles aren’t bad enough to ruin the whole thing, but hopefully the extra content in Definitive Edition helps to smooth it out; I’ll have to find that out for myself.
Aside from how it messes up the voice acting this time around. Oh, Bamco.

Tumblr media
Portfolios are a pretty big deal for writers—they showcase your writing in a nice, neat fashion and are great for potential clients to page through. A lot of people will request to see a portfolio (or at least writing samples), so it’s great to have one ready to go.
When I first started freelancing, I…did not have one of these. I vaguely knew that having a portfolio was a good idea, but I really hadn’t been told much about them or how to make them. (You’d think being a creative writing major I would’ve learned that in college, but…nope.) Basically, I learned through a lot of research and trial-and-error until I started to figure out what worked.
So here’s a basic run-down on portfolio building—what to include and how to organize it—so you can get ahead of the game.
What To Include In Your Portfolio
Generally speaking, you’ll want:
Writing samples (duh). The actual amount varies from person to person, but I’d suggest having between 7 and 10.
Bio. This basically goes over who you are, some of your experience, and what you can bring to the table.
Your resume. Not absolutely necessary, but it helps potential clients see all the places you’ve worked before (without trying to stuff it into a bio). If you don’t have a lot of experience, you can leave the resume out and let your work speak for itself.
A cover letter. Also optional, but it can, again, help you address things that you couldn’t fit into your bio.
Your writing samples are obviously the most important bit (since they’re the entire reason you have a portfolio). When picking these out, you’ll want to keep the following in mind:
Keep these short! Most people aren’t going to want to read through thirty pages of content, even if it’s awesome. You probably aren’t going to want anything much longer than 5 pages unless the client asks for longer samples.
This doesn’t mean you can’t use bits from your longer work, though; just take a couple of pages as an excerpt.
You want to highlight your best work. That means picking out the most stand-out pieces and, if need be, editing them to make sure they’re the best they can be.
Using published pieces is usually better because it shows clients right away that you’re getting professional work. Starting out, however, you might not have a lot of published work. If you don’t, then take excerpts from personal projects, or write something new altogether—just make sure it’s really good!
Know what kind of clients you want to attract and what kind of writing you want to do. If you want to write about gardening, fill your portfolio with samples that talk about gardening tips or plants; if you want to ghost write novels, then put in a lot of fiction pieces.
If you don’t know what you want your ‘niche’ to be yet, that’s okay; a lot of beginning freelancers are in similar situations, and probably just want to get work wherever they can. In this case, you can go with a more general portfolio, just so long as the work is polished.
You’re probably seeing a pattern here, but it bears repeating: you want to have your work be as professional as possible. Your writing samples are what most potential clients are going to use to decide whether they want to hire you; make them count.
Building your Portfolio
Once you have everything ready, it’s time to actually build your portfolio.
First up: do you want a physical or digital portfolio?
My automatic suggestion would be digital. Most clients prefer digital these days because it’s easier to handle. Plus, if you have only a physical portfolio, then it’s harder to get it into the hands of clients that live a long ways away from you (which, if you’re like me, will make up the bulk of your clients).
That said, it can be a good idea to have a physical portfolio in addition to an online one. I recently spoke to a client who wanted physical samples to page through instead of digital ones, so I was damn glad I had one ready.
So we’ll start with the physical portfolio. You’ll want to have a professional looking binder and page protectors for your work. Presentation is important, and you want this to look nice and be easy for your potential clients to look through.
Speaking of presentation—think about how you want to organize your writing samples. This can be anything from the order they were written in, to placing your personal favorites first, to using them to tell a sort of story. I personally recommend organizing them according to what the client’s looking for, putting the most relevant stuff at the beginning and end and sandwiching the less relevant stuff in the middle. This means you’ll probably have to do some reorganizing depending on the client, but it’s worth it.
Digital portfolios are a similar in some ways. You still have to worry about the organization, but you have a few more options as to how to organize things…and it’s also going to depend on where you build your portfolio.
Wordpress: Pretty popular option, and if you’re good at HTML and making your own site, I’d recommend it so that you can customize.
Journo Portfolio: If you’re not good at HTML (read: me), then this is a really good option. It’s easy to use, and the basic plan is free. (This means you’ll only get a single page + resume, but I’ve found that it still works really well.)
Clippings.me: Also free for a basic plan, and also pretty simple to use, though it’s more targeted towards journalists.
Tumblr: Why yes, you can use Tumblr to create a portfolio. Whether or not you want to right now is debatable, but it’s a platform you’re likely already familiar with.
Each of these is probably going to have slightly different ways of organizing things, but there are a couple general rules of thumb:
Use some sort of tab system to organize your work by subject. For example, on my portfolio I have a section labeled “Articles,” and a section labeled “Essays and Stories.” This helps clients find what they’re looking for pretty easily.
Make sure everything looks neat and professional. You want something that’s going to be easy to navigate so clients don’t get frustrated.
A couple extra tips:
Include contact information! Some clients will find you instead of the other way around, and if they like your work, they’ll need some way to get in contact with you.
Advertise your portfolio! Share it to social media, let friends and family know, etc.—this’ll help a lot in finding more clients and getting your name out there!
Make sure to include a link to your portfolio in your resume, cover letter, and on social media so clients can find it easily.
And that’s the gist of building a portfolio! If you have anything you’d like to add to this, don’t hesitate—and if you have any questions I didn’t answer, don’t hesitate to ask, either!

[REPOST, 2022] - "Roe, Roe, Roe-ing my boat, gently into this stream"
(This was originally posted to my WordPress blog "Thoughts of the Free" in May 2022.)
Oh, joy. Here we go again.
Yep, it’s the internet’s laziest political commentator here, back after several months of silence to talk about one of his least favorite topics: abortion! Yay! In case you haven’t heard, this just happened, meaning abortion is now no longer protected here in the States under federal law. Not a huge surprise, but still a very facepalm-inducing moment for this country nonetheless. So, rather than sit around and debate every single person who’d like to argue with me on this subject, I figured I’d get in front of this whole thing, and preemptively put my logical scalpel to work here and now.
Before we proceed, let me make one thing absolutely clear right off the bat: if your go-to arguments against abortion are along the lines of “it’s murder!”, “it’s irresponsible adulting!”, “it’s against God!”, or more, do not even bother trying to respond to this post. Not only is this branch of reasoning weak (for reasons that I’ll dig into as we go forward), but the fact is that moral arguments in general do not stand up to scrutiny at all on this topic. I am also not about to grind to a halt here to argue about some unproductive conceptual nonsense like “when does life begin? 12 weeks?!” or “but what about edge cases like rape?!”, because these are where the point goes to die a slow and painful death. Got it? Okay, good. Let’s move.
Let’s really get started in a place you probably won’t expect: the Bible. If you’re one of the folks who follows it, I implore you to open yours to Numbers 5:11, read onward from there, and take note of what that section describes. What you’ll find there is a very detailed commandment, from God himself to his priests, for abortions to be induced on wives who cheat on their husbands. This also isn’t even to speak of numerous other moments, such as Exodus 12:19, where God himself goes a step above abortions and personally kills unspecified masses of born children, demonstrating multiple times over that the lives of both the unborn and children aren’t quite as sacred as claimed in this religion. To attempt to handwave this fact away in support of the Christian anti-abortion case by claiming “it’s okay when God does it” is to engage in a hilariously meta kind of moral relativism that conservatives would not accept in any other context, so please, don’t try this response either.
As an aside: the problem with going to church and listening to sermons about the Bible is that you rarely ever learn anything truly new from them. You just skip around at random and hear a lecture about some part that gets worked into a generic message about the positives of being faithful. If you’re a Christian, professing faith in the Bible, and you haven’t heard of these parts before, you should ask yourself why that is.
But you didn’t come here to listen to this, right? Nah, what does the atheist brony know about the faith?! We want some real meaty bits to take in on this subject, dammit! Argument bits so meaty that they make you feel like you’re choking to death on a 72oz. steak of RAW TRUTH, with a side of BUTTERED FACTS AND LOGIC! AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA– [coughs uncontrollably]
Uh… Sorry. Moving on.
See, the religious part is only one part of this. When it comes to moral arguments, I hold the true centrist position when it comes to abortion: I do not care. I’m of the belief that I would never personally have an abortion (and would prefer my partners also not), but that if other people do want to have them, that’s their right, and not something for me to concerned with. Since this is a “moral gray zone” issue, and I have no desire to play to moral arguments on the subject of abortion anyway, ethics is what really needs to be talked about here.
An anti-abortion moral argument would state that a fetus is a person, and has the right to be kept alive through to birth as such. Now, this alone doesn’t hold up when you think about it for a minute. Picture, for a moment, a situation where someone is standing over a cliff, holding a 3-months-developed live fetus in one hand (we’re assuming it’s still, you know, alive in this hypothetical), and a 3-year-old named Billy in the other. This hypothetical person tells you to pick which one of the two they drop. I’m reasonably certain that everyone, in this scenario, would choose to save Billy. If a fetus were really a person, that would be closer to a 50/50 split.
BUT… Let’s go even further. For the sake of the argument, let’s say that, yes, fetuses are people, and they have full personhood. In that case, the best way to test the anti-abortion position is to think of a similar situation involving a grown person. How ’bout it?
The scene: I, an absolute moron, have just hopped in my car and gone driving up Highway 61 at half past midnight, after downing way too many liters of whiskey. I get my deeply drunk self to the Huey Long Bridge, drive up the wrong entry ramp, and promptly slam head-on into a fellow driver, surviving with only moderate injuries. A several-hours-long coma and a quick airlift to a Baton Rouge hospital later, I wake up to find that the person I played a game of automotive jousting with is barely clinging to life. They’re only able to do so because, while I was unconscious, the doctors discovered that we share a blood type, and decided to start transfusing my blood into them without my consent. If I tell them to stop pumping my blood into the victim of this crash, they’re guaranteed to die.
In this hypothetical scenario, I’m the one who’s entirely at fault for this ordeal. There’s no question as to how we got here. The question is: should the state (or even just the hospital) have the power to force me to keep this person alive against my will, using my bodily resources? I would say the answer is no, but I invite you to ask this question for yourself. When you do so, remember that this is a hypothetical where we assume the other party is a fully-grown adult; trying to apply this logic of personhood to afetus will take this argument into some very, very absurd philosophical territory.
With the religious, moral, and ethical arguments against abortion not standing up to scrutiny… well, what are we really left with?
We already know what the myriad negative effects are of denying abortions to pregnant women. It’s not irresponsible adult behavior to not have a child when you likely can’t afford to raise one, for reasons that should be fairly self-evident. Nor is it reasonable to demand that every prospective abortion-seeking mom instead bear the kid and put them up for adoption, not the least of the reasons being that dumping a millionnew children would cause our already-overburdened foster care system to collapse, especially without a sudden surge in adoptive parent candidates to accompany it. (EDIT FROM FUTURE HAWK: Now that I think about it... don'tcha think that it would help on that front to stop arbitrarily outlawing queer couples' ability to adopt? We already know that the kid would be as fine in that company as they would be with a straight couple.)
In short… there’s no big socioeconomic benefits to banning abortions either. So, really: what reason is there?
Like I said earlier, I want all of you, anti-abortion people who may be reading, to take some time out and ask yourselves: why do I believe this? Was this knee-jerk hatred for pregnancy termination a position you arrived at through some process of critical thinking, with all of the above factors in mind, or something you’ve been told to believe by the people you listen to? Be it the biblical literalist pastors who can only claim the Bible opposes abortion by engaging in some very tenuous interpretation, a political apparatus that found an easy issue to get you sloganeering about as a distraction, or anything else: what was it? Most of all: can you arrive at your current position after asking yourself all of the questions posed here?
Well, I hope you at least have an interesting answer. Maybe that’ll keep me from wanting to measure my ruler every time this subject comes up. See y’all later.
