Someone else has probably said this better by now, but I think the biggest reason why the new a:tla show seems so wooden and kinda dead to me is that the characters are already “perfect”. They don’t have any flaws or quirks or notable character traits. They’re all perfect and moral and upstanding and boring as hell. Beyond the fact that all the filler episodes were cut (which is a whole other issue that I find annoying. Showing us who the characters are in their downtime, when they’re relaxing, is how we get to know characters. We don’t get that in the new show and it suffers) any defining moments of the characters that HIGHLIGHT WHO THEY ARE are gone. Poof. Vanished. The characters are boring and generic. They’re already perfect ideals and there’s no room to grow.

Personally, I don’t think Larian employees (or any employee of any company tbh) should be in fan-run discord servers. It feels very parasocial and can be unhealthy.

That being said….. I’m glad this whole Astarion/Durge writer situation happened and is bringing the blatant inequality for the other companions have content wise — especially Karlach and Wyll — to the forefront. This needs to be talked about more, and I’m so glad I’m seeing more and more posts about it. I get the appeal for Astarion because he’s the pretty elf “I can fix him” vampire, but he’s not the only companion. Larian needs to flesh out Karlach and Wyll more before they even think about moving to another game — and it better not be in the form of a DLC

I swear to G-d I wish certain parents understood that there’s a difference between gentle parenting and permissive parenting. i work in a toy store and I cannot TELL you how many times i’ve had permissive parents come in and let their children mess up entire displays and then not fix it or tell them to stop or anything like that. i’m talking like toys ALL over the floor. and the parents don’t say anything to them, or offer to help clean it up or anything. as someone who majored in child development, and who also has common sense, i LOVE gentle/respectful parenting, but permissive parenting is not it. at all.
