remember when Vivziepop was talking about mammon before his design was fully out and she was like "he's not gonna be like the other characters. He's gonna be ugly. he's gonna look different."
and then mammon looked like every other helluva boss character with the only difference being that he was fat, except he didn't even look fat. He just looked like an inflated balloon.

Ok......So, the new HB episode is out, how unexpected for me. I apologize to my fellow readers for not reviewing the previous episode, but I was so tired and busy, having to deal with a lot of work. The cat must have got my tongue when I saw the dildo scene, I'm sorry. And what can I say......Actually, this episode is the best one in the 2 season at this moment. I mean, at least it wasn't that cringe and plot ruining as the other ones. ‼️TW‼️: Abuse, **cest
The animation looks pretty good in action scenes(and not so good in other, especially when some characters speak). The backgrounds look good, and I somewhat like the fact that the Sloth Ring is pink. Looks so sweet, bubblegum and cotton candy-like. But the floating pieces of ground are very cliche for a fantasy world. Also I think there were too many sound effects, when sometimes it feels like there's a lack of them. In principle, everything is as always. Stolas is a damsel in distress again, Moxxie and Millie are boring, Stella is evil(and extremely stupid for some reason), Blitzo is loud and annoying and spits cuss words every second because the authors think it's funny. Also Loona just...... didn't speak in this ep at all. No words. Don't know if it's good or not. The plotline of her going to doctor and being afraid of shots is pretty boring, tbh. I still have no idea why hellhounds are treated like some pets in this universe when they're competent and sensible beings. Also, I don't know if anyone told that or this is just me, but I absolutely hate the idea of putting fucking westerns in "Hell". I know Vivzie isn't so original and her universe is super bland and uninteresting, but shit, westerns just don't stick in the setting of Hell at all, it's not that vibe and it looks ridiculous. And that's not because I don't like westerns. Striker's song felt absolutely redundant, and Striker himself seems....unnatural? Seems like Vivzie made him that masculine bigot guy who's bigheaded and is obsessed with having a huge cock(because dicks are funny according to the writers). They have finally showed Andrealphus, Stella's brother, and there's nothing interesting about him to say. I'm just glad they didn't make him a stereotypical gay. Knowing Vivzie's "rep" and how feminine he looks, it would be predictable. As I've said before, he looks like a shameless Elsa ripoff, as his blue ice castle(covered with red fucking sky, god, these palette choices burn out my eyes). I've heard some controversial and suspicious stuff considering him and Stella(more precisely, someone says that originally they were going to have **cestuous relationship). Not sure if it's true, and I do hope that Vivzie won't go so far in making Stella an unredeemable villain.
Tumblr media
I didn't see anything "weird" or vulgar in their conversation, it felt like puerility. I like to imagine that their relationship is like a niminy-piminy brother always cheering up and complimenting his little sis because he can. I've seen some cartoons with a similar character dynamic and a certain part of their fandoms found indecent connotation in this, and that's their problems in their depravity. And yeah, I know that my thoughts aren't true and they obviously have a manipulative relationship. Andre straight up insulted Stella and manipulated her, btw. If Viv really wanna do them having **cest – fine, another reason to quit watching this show. But something tells me that she won't dare to lose a bunch of fans and be yet again cancelled in social networks.
Summing up, this episode was pretty good by the standards of the season and bad by the standards of..... something qualitative I guess? Viv still hasn't learned how to separate drama from comedy, which makes it difficult, no, impossible to feel Stolas' sad shit. This character is one of my personal winners in the list of the most repulsive and annoying creatures and him always being sex-crazed about Blitzo pisses me off. How the hell are we supposed to take him seriously if all he wants is a dick? The rest of the time he whines about how unhappy he is and pretends to care about his daughter. Season 2 continues to look like terrible Wattpad fanfiction and it discourages from watching this series. It's not even fun to hate or criticize it anymore, it's just...... Ehh.

Bringing up something not directly related to ep8 - I'm very annoyed by the 'content warning' at the beginning of every episode, it just. It feels bare-minimum and like they don't actually care if literal children see the show.
And I'm not trying to say kids can't watch mature stuff, it's just. It's an animated show on YouTube with bright colours and funky non-human designs. What's the bet a tired parent has given their kid a tablet/phone and let them surf and suddenly found their five year old watching HB with all its swearing and really very degrading language (ESPECIALLY towards women which someone else pointed out recently)
It's just. It really feels like vivzie sees 'mature content' as not that big a deal because SHE isn't upset by it so anyone who thinks sex jokes in front of kids are inappropriate is just a prude! But like. It IS a mature show. It deals with some really quite nasty things aside from the swearing and sex jokes, and on top of talking about them flippantly, it doesn't really go into detail in warning about them. Like. People, kids or not, deserve to know what's happening and be warned for it, it's why we have content guidelines in the first place. Even shit like south park or archer or any other mature animated show COMES WITH A RATING ON IT, from M to R depending on what's in it (and what country you're in apparently).
Idk maybe I'm being overly cautious and I am probably coming off as someone conservative, I just do think the team should take the content warning a little more seriously?? Because there's no sensitivity team watching the episodes before they're released so there's no one outside the studio who might actually go 'hey stop this needs a real warning' before it's released.
Like the show can get as rough as it wants, go nuts, I don't care, I just think maybe it should come with a content warning a bit more serious than 'ya this is for mature audiences lol'.
Or at least have Something warning about flashing lights cos fuck the show has so much going on and I know people in real life who struggle to watch it because it's so visually busy.
I mean...a more precise warning for what's up ahead never hurt anyone, but at the same time I don't think it's Vivzie's or anyone else's job to babysit other peoples' kids. I also don't know that she could keep them out if she cared to; my little cousin, when I asked who the hell's been showing him Helluva Boss, walked me through the exact process he uses to bypass Youtube Kids behind his mom's back.
I think the abysmal way Vivzie presents female characters, transmasc characters, and consent are more dangerous to sneaky kids than the fact that there's sex and swears.

Hi, a little hi from a HB critical community after seeing your that one post. I CAME WITH PEACE INTENTIONS, NOT WAR. Have some cake 🎂 ... or salad 🥗 is you don't like cake :D
I am so sorry you have to deal with some freaks in here. Personally I do watch Vivzie's content because I love some of it, but sometimes I just feel so outraged when something absolutely stupid happens in the show... Also I don't really approve the idea that "Viv is a small indie creator we should respect her bc of that" because, well, she isn't. She practically leads her own studio, it isn't a labour of - say - 2 or 5 or 10 people, it's a work environment and not a hobby-esque project to give it such excuses and be immune to criticism.
Also I will be liar if I say that Viv's work didn't inspire me, especially back in early 2010s - yes, I am from that era.
BUT! Despite ALL that!
I don't think ppl in critical community should be such dicks. Despite the name many lack critical thinking. I have seen SO MANY STUPID TAKES OVER THERE MY GOSH.
Is dick joke in s2e3 a bit stupid imo? Yes. Does this make VP an abuse-endorser and sexual predator- BITCH NO, NO, N OO OO O.
My fucking god, there is this one person who writes ON and ON and O N about Vivienne being such a THREAT to children and people overall. My brain rots to pieces omg.
Many peeps need to learn to give credit where credit is due (looking at critical community) and don't give credit where credit is don't - like if you scold an author, than it has to be fucking earned. Some ppl's disappointment in Stella's character development DOES NOT DESERVE A RANT FOR 6 MONTHS.
But to be oblivious or willfully ignoring some inconsistencies in the show is to do your critical thinking a disservice. And still ppl shouldn't be dicks abt it
dot
I made an edit to my post for more clarification. I'm just tired of some of these "critics" that are just shitting on her and her work just to shit on her and her work because they like being toxic. One can have criticism, it's just not all of these vivzie/helluva criticism posts are actually composed of criticism, and the ones that aren't are the ones that really grind my gears.

So has Vox been accused for being a Black Hat ripoff yet? Don't wanna check twitter to confirm my fears.
Unfortunately, yes. People have also compared Velvette with Demencia....which I'm okay with. They're both good in my eyes. However, Black Hat and Vox.....ugh. I'm tired of people seeing a character with sharp teeth, a suit, and a top hat is anywhere near close to being BH. The even did the same with Pentious before his redesign (probably still said the same).
It's harmless, I know. It's just kinda weird. With the most surface-level observation, yes, these characters are the same. However, when you get into it and realize that the Hazbin characters have actual lives, personalities, and backgrounds...then you quickly realize that they're nothing like the Villainous characters lol
No offense to those that still like Villainous. It's just....God. Whenever I see anyone bring up that Vivzie is an "inconsistent" writer....you ain't seen Alan's writing and "characterization". It's about as consistent as a non-newtonian fluid (aka slime and oobleck). The most consistent thing in Alan's writing is "Black Hat Org Big Bad. Everyone Else Big Sad. Hero = Bad, But Not Good Bad Like Villains."
I know it's gonna seem like I'm being mean....but that's literally it. There's no plot to the show, none that I can figure out at least. The biggest threat they have in the show is some guy named Goldheart and the worst he's done is defeat Flug. According to how the show treats Flug...that ain't much of an accomplishment. Also, there's apparently going to be an Arc that involves Gods with BH....so how is Gold Member a threat exactly compared to immortal, powerful Gods?
Basically, you can, at least, grasp where Viv is going. Meanwhile, Alan is throwing darts a board while blindfolded and missing every single possible plot point that's on the board. Hell, he's not even hitting the board.
Also, Alan actually did mistreat his employees, but whatever. That was so long ago back in 2019...even though the same people that say that will bring up shit Viv did over a decade ago.
...Sorry for the rant. I just get heated about it xP
