Hello it's me again ;33, the one who requested to bsd, and seriously, i LOVED it, it almost made my cry 'cause i'm trying my best to get better, but anyways!! Can i ask more for bsd?? I saw that your requests are open, soo..... Can i ask Dazai and/or Chuuya having a partner that literally HATES alcohool and alcohoolics/drunk people? Like idk i think that it would be a very interesting think (most to Dazai cause Chuu isn't an alcohoolic he just get drunk easily but i think you understood), so pretty please?? (Thinking abt req for dgr too btw hehe >u<)
multiple characters headcannons!
alcoholism.
characters: dazai, chuuya x gn!reader
author's note: OKAY SO i don't like alcoholics and alcoholism as a whole bffr that shit is fucked up but i don't think this will be hard to write due to having witnessed some pretty bad experiences happen to the people in my neighborhood and i think it is really bad(my dad is a part of that even tho it's VERY rare and it doesn't impact him TOO much) lmao BUT i do love chuuya so why not write it smh i hope you enjoy! (also i'm glad you liked the last one^^)
Tumblr media
☆Dazai
-uh so
-basically
-this man.
-it might be a LITTLE hard for you guys to get along in the first place
-especially when he comes home late at night, drunk as fuck and you have to help him go to sleep and rest(drink water first ofc)
-so you'll definitely try to help him or something i meannnn
-sometimes it's his failed attempt at killing himself but yk he doesn't really attempt after getting with you in a relationship
-you'll definitely try to confront him multiple times and tell him how bad and unhealthy it is.
-wether it's because of religion or just that you don't like it, he will not drink IN YOUR PRESENCE.
-otherwise, when he's not with you, he still drinks.
-and scold him please—
-he deserves it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
♡ Chuuya
-so ofc as any decent human being you're gonna try and help him and stop him from drinking alcohol completely
-and with chuuya it might even work even tho the chances aren't all that high
-he understands that you hate it and just despise it when he comes back home at 4am drunk, then having you making him rest and all just isn't his thing at all.
-if you scold him, he'll always irritatedly reply with something like:
-"yeah, whatever, i know, i'm trying. mind your own business. i know."
-gonna be a bit of a challenge but at least it's possible.
-throw away any alcohol you have at home so it doesn't remind him of the taste or something (whereas dazai, if you threw it away, would buy it again without you knowing)
-ngl would be really understanding with this subject/topic, he'll do his best.
-if he fails know that he's still trying, especially with having you to distract him from it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so yes
i like this one
love your reqs btw!!

Taylor Swift albums as Bungo Stray Dogs characters
1) Debut👢🎸🚜
obviously, the first character than came in my mind when thinking about debut was kenji mirazawa and do i even need to explain? the country vibes, the innocence and optimism...it fits him so well. because one of the biggest themes of debut is about finding our place in this world (there's even a song titled this way) i think that also tachihara michizou is another great fit
2) Fearless👗🐎🪞
after spending a lot of time thinking about it, i realized kyouka izumi is definitely a fearless girlie. i mean, fearless is the grown up version of debut, kenji and kyouka are the same age but the later is much more mature while still maintaining a kind of innocence. fearless is an album about overcoming our fears, which is an important theme in kyouka's character. she is fearless.
3) Speak Now🎇💍🎤
probably at first impact this will not make sense, but i promise you it does. kunikida doppo is speak now. sn is an album about standing up for ourself and give importance to our opinion. one of the biggest traits of kunikida's character is the firmly belief in his ideals, which really resonates with speak now's message at its core. also, it's literally canon that kunikida has irrealistic standards regarding his ideal partner, and many speak now songs match his deluluness lol
4) Red 🧣🥀💄
the first bsd character that comes into my mind when thinking about red is yosano akiko. and for obvious reasons: i always thought of red as the "wine aunt" album, and yosano is definitely a wine aunt. it's a particular album, that goes from happy to sad, like a rollercoaster. knowing yosano's backstory and how much of a rollercoaster was it, i really think they match so well
5) 1989🗽🎉📸
ehm ehm, idk abt you, but i think chuuya nakahara was definitely born in 1989. all the songs on it are soooo chuuya it's insane. i wish you would? all you had to do was stay? bad blood? new romantics? my dear ball of sunshine (he kword tons of ppl) he's soo 1989 stop
6)Reputation🐍♟️🪦
i love reputation, because it's lover but emo. it has got a bad reputation, and it lives in it, it feeds that bad reputation, it wants to pass for the scary bad guy. but, if you look past behind look what you made me do and i did something bad, most of the songs are love songs. and most of all, they are delulu songs! delicate, gorgeous, king of my heart, call it what you want...they are basically song where they worship the person in question, they would die to get back even a bit of the love they gave, but we don't know if the feelings are reciprocal. if you reread all of this again, you'll notice how, other than describing reputation, i'm also describing akutagawa ryunosuke.
7)Lover🎀💌🏹
and if reputation and lover are the different sides of the same coin, if aku is reputation atsushi nakajima is lover. he's the light after the dark, he's been recovering from a very bad mental state. i also think that lucy maud montgomery is very lover, she has that hopeless romantic vibes.
8) Folklore🌲🏞🧚‍♀️
okay with folklore i literally went with vibes only instead of a deep analysis of the characters but listen: folklore is about these stories, right? y'know who is a novelist who writes? edgar allan poe, exactly. and some lyrics reminded me of sigma, so there's that also. for instance, the whole mirrorball song. or "i can go anywhere i want just not home" from my tears ricochet?? he's folklore stop
9) Evermore🍂🥂🏚
i don't think i even need to explain why osamu dazai is evermore. the vibes, the lyrics, it's all there. songs like evermore or right where you left me. i also got evermore vibes from oda sakunosuke, but for entirely different reasons
10)Midnights🌒🌃⛈️
and lastly midnights is for ranpo edogawa. he's the mastermind. his mind waters in all different ways. he relates to all the fears depicted in midnights, the fears that creep into you in the middle of the night

What if I asked you to rank your top 10 *minor* BSD characters and explain why? 👀 Or top 5 if there aren't enough! Sending you tons of love and kisses, my dear! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
mwah thank you my love 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
i might have 10, depending on your definition of minor! (some may be more of a secondary character maybe...? but ig since they don't appear/speak much they may count by literal definition)
edit: i missed the "explain why" part at first oops some of these have one anyway at least. the catch all explanation tho is "makes my brain go brrrrr"
1. surprising no one. nikolai. technically a minor character in practice. but the main character of my heart
2. POE he is my babygirl 🖤
3. tecchou!!! he is my bestie :)
4. AYA she is my daughter I'm raising her with kunikida and bram actually
5. speaking of. bram. another babygirl <3
6. q! my funky child who needs so much therapy :) hope they come back any time soon 😔
7. nathaniel. i can talk abt how his motivation is sexy and the lengths he's willing to go to save someone he loves is a very cool detail about him. but honestly i just have a priest kink (SORRY I'M JOKING IT'S ALL OF THIS STUFF TOO)
8. gin! like she's already cool as is but beast made me love her even more. shows how important she is even if she doesn't do much. also ridiculous amounts of gender wow
9. mark. he is just so funny to me. his tits are out and all he does is shoot guns and look for ppl to karaoke with. i enjoy him immensely
10. lovecraft :] just like me fr (sleepy, doesn't want to be here, possibly not human) akdkfgb also he's just cool like conceptually. i assume we'll never get an explanation for what his whole Deal is bc duh, that's the whole point of lovecraft, but i'm still curious and can remain hopeful

hi could i please request a (male) mha, haikyuu & bsd match up? (sorry i wasn't sure how many fandoms i'm allowed to request but if 3 is too many then mha + haikyyu is fine!!)
appearance: my aesthetic is goth! i'm pretty skinny and i have like shoulder length black hair. i also permanently have on winged black eyeliner haha (plus black lipstick here and there)
personality/star sign: ISTJ + aries. i like to think i'm a loyal friend + straightforward, confrontational and aggressive person. i'm really sharp mouthed and i have a "why say it behind your back when i can say it to you in front of your face?" mentality. honestly, i'm rly chill and have an "idgaf abt anything" persona until i'm provoked.. that's probably why ppl think i'm rly "shy and quiet" when they first meet me. but i'm also lwk a huge softie inside qbsuwhe
likes & interests: i LOVE ranting/gossiping, drawing, knitting, rock music, holding hands, being lifted up/carried, fashion, cute things (animals, stationary, etc), watching tv, reading and food
dislikes: bugs, people who only do/like things once it's trendy, dry texters, people who complain about stuff nonstop but are too scared to actually speak up when the opportunity presents itself (aka "all bark no bite" people) and raw fish
thank you!! 🥺💗
Hello! I’m so happy you requested! *happy finger guns*
I’m so sorry your request took so long. I’m going to be truthful here for a minute, I had not finished bsd yet. But I wanted to pick a good character for you and so I decided to finish the series before I wrote your matchup. So thank you for requesting it because I had been stuck on the same episode for almost a month *thankful finger guns*
For mha I think I’m going to go with Kirishima!
He would love for you to knit him things once he finds out you know how to. It’s cold out? He wants you to knit him a scarf. But he won’t push you to, even if he needs a new scarf.
For your all’s first date he took you to the mall so that you could find some cute stationary. At one point you two parted ways for one reason or another (is that how the saying goes? 🤔) and decided to meet back up at the food court for lunch. On his way there he passed a claw machine and the prizes inside were really cool so he decided to try to win one for you.
Once you all start dating he will definitely give you those hugs where you lift the other person up into the air and spin them a bit.
For Haikyuu I think Asahi!
Asahi loves to watch you draw. He finds it really sweet whenever you look so proud of your drawings. He makes sure to compliment you on everyone he sees, because he thinks they’re amazing!
For your all’s first date he took you to a park during spring so you all could see the trees starting to bloom. (I’m not sure if I described that right but I have these trees in my driveway that look so beautiful in the spring time and so those are what I was sort of imagining.) After walking around the park for a bit you all decided to get some coffee at a nearby restaurant because even though it was spring the weather was still chilly!
After you all start dating he holds your hand all the time. The first time he tried to hold your hand he got really embarrassed but after you assured him that it was alright, holding your hand became a regular thing for him.
From bsd I’m going to go with Atsushi!
Your all’s relationship has a lot of trust. He can always count on you and you can always count on him. He really likes to hear about what book you’re reading and every time you don’t have one he makes sure to get you one to show that he cares about your hobbies.
For your all’s first date he takes you to a book store so you could look at all the books. If you find any that catch your eye he definitely buys some of them.
After you all start dating you make sure to always go out to get coffee together once a week so he can listen to you gossip about other people in the agency or just around town.
——————————————————————————~I hope you liked your matchup! Thank you for requesting! Remember to stay safe and do some self care!~

your last line in the theory ask got me thinking (the "why else are we following his story like this?")
do you think there's a reason atsushi, the protagonist, is kept so passive (until recently, someone was pretty much always there to help/save him in different ways), and dazai, arguably a secondary protagonist, is kept at the center?
a theory i saw is that atsushi being in the spotlight/not in the spotlight aligns with when the book is in the spotlight/not in the spotlight, and he'll be the center piece to actually locating the book
it's always fascinated me how we're repeatedly being Told he's the protagonist, but very rarely shown it past the first chapters/first season of the anime. it's a relationship between story and protagonist i've not really seen anywhere else.
OH THIS IS SO INTERESTING TBH
so. i have a few thoughts abt this lemme number them bc it's just easier for me to organize them this way hehe
1. oooooooh love that theory abt atsushi being more in the spotlight for locating the book (and after it will be found i assume :?). it does make sense! but then it's still strange just how long it took to get there, given we're over 100 chapters, technically 5 seasons of the anime, and multiple light novels into the story and not there yet. i wonder if the story/its formatting will change to accommodate that somehow :0
2. this is more abt the last part of your ask, and this concept in general! i think something that changes bsd and the context and role of atsushi in it is to see him more as a narrator (albeit an active one) rather than the actual main character whom the story is about, like. i wanna say nick in the great gatsby (<- hasn't actually read it so don't take my word on that one specifically, but like. it's been done before is what i wanna say! just mainly in books. but that does work with bsd at the end of the day! if any manga would mimic the style of books it'd be bsd hehe), and then the main character is dazai
this does align with the light novels more, imo. while he's not the main character of most of them, he is definitely present and moving the story along, same as he is in the main story. despite that, we never see his thoughts or read anything from his pov (i've seen people describe him as "a force" bc of that before, which is interesting, but i find it sort of... dehumanizing? and therefore kinda missing the point of his arc, imo). reading bsd with this thought in mind - that the main character is actually dazai - changes the context of things a lot
[ok this next part is a very crackheaded theory on why that may be that i wrote with the expectation to later add another theory. and then i couldn't come up with another theory to fit the topic i was talking about. so i'm just gonna make it indented and if the grammar/syntax(?) doesn't make a lot of sense. this is why. sorry]
it might've been done as a vague sort of homage to no longer human and the way it's written - the novel opens and closes with the pov of another character, who found yozo's journals years after he wrote them, likely after his death too. right from the start, our view of yozo can be distorted by the way he's described by this unnamed character. in a way, they are the narrator of his story. yes, we read most of it from his own pov, but we step in and out of it through an external view of him. the way we approach him, and the way we leave him, is affected both by the "narrator" and the inn owner who knew him in his life.
if we consider dazai to be the main character of bsd, it's not that out of the question that elements of no longer human will affect it beyond dazai's character alone, and that it might slip into the meta level as well. we view dazai from an outsider's perspective - not just atsushi's, but in the light novels as well - like we technically do with yozo.
it is a bit of a stretch lol i don't know if i actually fully believe that, but it's interesting to think about it that way imo :3
3. it puts a bigger focus on the generational trauma theme of bsd. the story was dazai's, and we're just watching as atsushi "inherits" it. so the light novels describe the background of our current story - the past generation, in a sense - and the manga is the new generation, building upon what's laid out already. but, like in real life, non-metaphorical generations, just because there's a new one doesn't mean the previous gen is dead yet. you can view it as dazai being like a father and atsushi as a son, in a way. just because somehow has a kid doesn't mean their life or their own stories stop, so we get to see it. and since atsushi is like a metaphorical kid, he can't do that much yet, and still has to learn how the world works before he can
yeah i have no idea if that makes sense or if that analogy is clear or not askdjfglkh i'm sorry. this post also ended up being more messy than i thought. hope you enjoyed it anyway tho!

if you'd like, list one strength of bsd that you see, and one flaw! and when i say that, i mean that in a literary sense. not "this is something i liked" or "this is something i didn't like" but something that works really well in bsd and something that does not work well in bsd.
(for example, "character designs are unique and recognizable" and "unreliable tone sometimes undermines dramatic moments") ((also SO sorry if i come off like a school-teacher, i'm just very interested in literary appraisals of bsd)
I ACTUALLY HAVE ANSWERS TO THAT LOCKED AND LOADED!
strength: this might be more of my own personal taste tho it IS a literary tool i think; i love how it initially builds up your expectations by making the characters fit very common anime tropes (mostly shonen ones), but as time goes on you start noticing more and more how they subvert these! (I'd also argue the story itself does it. it starts out mostly silly and fun and then boom 3 teenagers get shot up in an alley)
imo it's less about twists and more about adding depth to these characters, bc it's not that the core qualities of the initial trope are gone. you're just adding things that would normally contradict them (for example, atsushi being bitter and sassy and violent despite having shonen protag qualities like determination and the ability to inspire others, or kunikida hating authority and breaking rules despite being the uptight and serious type etc). I'm actually planning to possibly write smth abt that more in depth soon bc i find it fascinating hehe :3
also! I'd say bsd strikes the balance between humor and drama really really well :) at least the manga does hehe. example i can think of is how fyozai in meursault always do some funny thing right before they get down to mind games (or doing the egg and salt thing right before nikolai gets them out of their cells hehe). or how aya and bram's moments cut the tension of this arc for a few minutes, giving you a moment to breathe and laugh for a bit. it makes the pain and tension that come later more impactful imo :)
flaw: oh my god ok this one bothered me from the start. it feels more obvious in the anime than the manga, idk why (maybe bc things genuinely need more explaining in the manga bc the medium makes things less clear?), but. characters explaining things out loud unnecessarily
example that's currently fresh in my mind is mushitaro explaining the jailbreak plan to atsushi and kyouka AFTER they do it, which??!! yeah they were there !!! you don't need to tell kyouka that demon snow lured the soldiers into the wrong safe she's the one who made her do it!!!!!!
the only times i can excuse this is atsushi and akutagawa having dramatic shonen-esque battles like the one on the boat. this just makes them fun. but when it comes to the mystery aspects of the series, i feel like you can definitely find a better way to do it. in the example i gave, they could've waited a bit to explain it, then have ango ask how they did it once they all reach anne's room, bc he was the one bamboozled by it after all, so it makes sense (i assume in the manga it would've caused too long of a wait to reveal the answer which would frustrate readers but. reading the story as a whole, or seeing it in the anime in one episode, it is really glaring)
sometimes there isn't much of a choice but then i would honestly prefer to just hear the character explain it in internal dialogue than say it to a character who already knows it. like this also feels forced but significantly less so imo, and at the end of the day these things DO need to be explained to the audience so. finding a better way to deliver should be smth you put effort into i think
. ok i had that rant ready for literally 10 months now so I'm glad i let it out hehe. this aspect can really take me out of the story 😭 luckily it happens a bit less lately i think? or maybe I'm just more used to it lol. but still thank you for giving me the opportunity to let all this out :P🖤
