THE METAGS IS A GOOD POINT!!!! I love speculating on silly little things like what time ii takes place in... ambiguous time between 2018 and 2022 how lovely!!! I will make this an actual confession though since I'm on the topic of metags:

I love them. I love them so so much. They're so stupid. Why are they alive. How do they see things. What is wrong with them... Beautiful little beasts. Actually, on the note of how they see things, I wonder if they don't see visually but instead use some kind of app to scan the Meeple facilities. Kind of like echolocation if your echolocation is a visible map to you. Maybe they have a "Find Me App" instead of a "Find My App".... On that note, I think it's interesting that they're used as Guards of all things. I feel like they'd be more useful as spies, being able to keep track of meeple devices.

....On that note, I just realized, the Find My App was released on iOS 13 September 2019... The latest Mephone, the Mephone X is originally shipped with iOS 11 BUT CAN run iOS 13. Thus, the latest Mephone that CAN run iOS 13 is the Mephone6S.

The only PROBLEM with this is that we've been shown downgrading/upgrading iOS's (meOS's in this case...) changes the personality and software OF the Meeple. So, none of the Mephones can update to iOS 13, because it'd literally wipe out their very being.

Summary:

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes is a 2D tag-team fighting game developed and released by Capcom for the arcades (running the Dreamcast-based Sega NAOMI hardware) on February 24, 2000.

The fourth installment of the Marvel vs. Capcom crossover series, the game doubles the roster of its predecessor (including new additions and returning fighters) while adding new 3-on-3 gameplay and simplified controls (two punch buttons, two kick buttons, and two assist buttons). It also brings back the classic "assist attack" system (sans "partners") while adding a new "snapback" attack (a close-ranged attack that, if hit successfully, swaps the opponent's character with another). A unique aspect of the game is its use of experience points for each arcade machine that increments by playtime, determining how many characters and alternate costumes are unlocked.

One of Capcom's earliest fighting games developed outside of their arcade hardware, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 combines 2D hand-drawn sprites with 3D backgrounds (a style later used for Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium). It is the last game in the series to use hand-drawn sprites for its characters.

The game was later released for the Dreamcast throughout 2000 (March in Japan, June in North America, and July in Europe), adding a new system of "purchasing" the locked characters/costumes with accumulated playtime (and trading them using the VMU). The Japanese version of the game also includes online multiplayer and the ability to use VMUs with the arcade version (where players can use their unlocked characters and earn experience points). It was later ported to the PlayStation 2 (in September 2002, with the Japanese version including online multiplayer) and Xbox (in September 2002 for Japan and March 2003 for North America).

It was later ported (by Backbone) as a digital release for the Xbox 360 (via Xbox Live Arcade on July 29, 2009) and the PlayStation 3 (via PlayStation Network on August 13, 2009). This version includes online multiplayer (including a six-player lobby system), various graphical options (including widescreen support), support for custom soundtracks, and all content unlocked from the start. The original console version was ported to iOS devices on April 25, 2012 (adding touch controls). These ports were removed from their respective storefronts on December 2013.

I am once again back on my pokemon bullshit.

Over the past 10 years or so, my love for pokemon has been fading with each new release. Starting with Sun and Moon, I began to feel like pokemon had become too kid friendly for me, as I just graduated high school and was truly beginning my adult life. I enjoyed the story of Sun and Moon but did not enjoy the games mechanics in the totems rather than gyms and what not and did not enjoy the region itself so much. After that, ultra Sun and moon released and I bought it but never even beat it until this year because I just couldn’t get into it. I enjoyed the Lets Go games but wish there was more battling involved so I could see my boy mega blastoise more in Kanto. I was quite excited for Pokemon Sword and Shield but once I began playing I quickly grew bored of it, can’t really place any reason why but it just didn’t stick. I had fun with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl but they’re nothing to write home about. Then legends arceus released and I was super hyped for it, and now I still have not finished it. I think it’s the best idea the pokemon company has had in years but I can only play for about 30 minutes before getting bored. Now with Scarlet and Violet, I was not hyped in the slightest but bought scarlet anyways and actually ended up loving the story but thought it was an ugly game, the first dlc was fun and I looked forward to the second but once it came out, I quickly gave up once encountering the trials.

Overall, I figured I’ve just outgrown Pokemon but once IOS allowed emulators, I decided to get all the older games again and quickly felt the nostalgia and love for the series in full again.

The Delta Emulator for GB/GBA/DS.

I downloaded delta first, as it was the emulator I was most familiar with. I got all the GB and GBA games first but quickly wanted to try SoulSilver for DS again. At this point I’m not too far but still open it up and grind whenever I have time.

ArcEmu for Apple Watch

I then learned of ArcEmu that allows you to play Gb/GBA games on an Apple Watch. I love this idea and downloaded FireRed for it but don’t really use it for anything, but enjoy knowing that I have it with me if I ever leave my phone.

Folium

An emulator for 3DS games has been fun to tinker with but doesn’t run the best on my iPhone 13 mini. Weirdly, Pokemon Omega Ruby seems to run better than Pokemon X.

Overall, I just like to tinker with the emulators on iOS and prefer the DS and 3ds games on emulators, for some reason GB and GBA feels wrong on phones.

Pokémon Go

I have been a day 1 pokemon Go rural player, over the years I have mostly just used it for transferring shiny pokemon to my main switch games. At this point I’m pretty much done with the game as they continue to make the game a pain for rural players who don’t want to spend money. I have transferred all of my shinies to home and most of the pokemon but will still check the game whenever I’m in new areas and whatnot.

Pokemon TCG Pocket

I started playing the new Pokemon TCG Pocket game and im liking it so far. I’ve never been much of a Pokemon TCG player, just a collector and this game scratches the itch for a casual collector like me who just likes to buy a booster pack occasionally here and there. I pulled a full art Mewtwo card which was cool.

Pokémon Sapphire/GameBoy Micro

About 2 years ago, I bought a GameBoy Advanced and a couple of Pokemon Repro carts. Eventually I pulled the trigger on a legitimate copy of Pokemon Sapphire. I work full time and do full time college so I don’t have much time to actually play. Eventually I decided to get a GameBoy micro, and decided to go for a cheaper and more beat up so that I can take it with me everywhere and not feel bad if it gets beat up.

I have loved having a GameBoy micro with me. I still don’t get to play as much as I’d like but it makes lunch breaks more fun at work and something about playing on actual hardware feels so much better.

Pokemon and the impact it has had on me

I have been a lifelong Pokemon fan, many of my earliest memories include Pokemon. I watched Pokemon the first movie probably over 100 times. I collected and traded Pokemon cards on the playground with many of my classmates. I received Pokemon firered as my first Pokemon game when I was 10, around the time Pokemon platinum was released and put hundreds of hours into it. Once, Pokemon X and Y released I made it my goal to complete the pokedex and was successful. I probably put 300-500 hours per game back in the day and now usually don’t even spend 100 hours on the modern games. Maybe I’m just a grumpy old fan but to me it feels like modern Pokemon is missing the heart that old Pokemon had.

Anyways, just figured I’d make a post for the hell of it and just chat about Pokémon.

Jenny Leclue. Detectivú is a flawed game, but it also does do a lot of things right.

The main flaw is the weird gameplay. It’s basically a point-and-click adventure game, but perhaps because one of the launch platforms was the iOS, it does things weirdly. There are for example screens that are basically point-and-click or hidden object screens, where you have to move a cursor around the screen to click on points of interests. But instead of free mouse aim, you have the cursor centered on the screen, and you have to slowly move the camera around with the cursor centered, and then activate it on a hotspot. The character movement is similarly odd, it’s basically a 2d platformer, except there is no real challenge because Jenny the player character can’t die or even fail. Like just clicking and moving Jenny to where you clicked would have made things much easier, without removing any significant challenge.

It’s not too bad, but it feels that this game should be a mouse-controlled point-and-click, and that this control scheme holds it back, at least on PC. I would have liked the ability to save whenever, you are dependent on autosaves here. I would have liked more puzzles, there is too much platforming and way too few puzzles in this game. And harder puzzles too, the ones we get are fun, but I want more challenge.

And again, I don’t feel I’m being too hard on some simple mobile game, this game has ambitions to be a serious proper adventure game. It took me ten hours to beat. It’s legit overqualified to be a mobile game at that length. And it got released on PC (including natively for Linux, thanks to the devs for that) as a proper adventure title. So it feels fair to compare to other adventure games on the pc, and I wish it was more like them.

The game has a substantive story too. And the story is where the game held me, because it’s good. It’s metafictional in a way that’s really fun. The framing story is about Arthur Finklestein, who writes the Jenny Leclue series of kid’s mystery novels. Jenny is the kid detective star of these books, basically a younger Nancy Drew. And he is now on the 38th book in the series, and the formula is getting stale. He’s getting threatening letters and phone calls from his publishers to shake things up, have a proper murder for once. And Arthur rises up to the challenge.

It’s Jenny Leclue, the series’s kid detective that we play as in this new adventure. And she is a great character. The first thing is that Jenny is utterly adorable, with her glasses, unruly mop of red hair, gap-toothed smile, and autistic, nerdy nature. Part of the fun in playing her is just how cute she is. But her character goes deeper than that. And here is the metafictional element comes in.

Part of the trope of the kid detective is that the child detective is not just smarter than the other kids, but smarter than the adults as well, being able to solve mysteries they can’t. And Jenny is every bit as clever as the genre expects her to be. She is smarter than the other residents of her town, named Arthurton after its creator. And she knows it. So she has of course developed a massive superiority complex, she is arrogant about her intelligence and somewhat accurately feels that she is smarter than everyone else. Part of it is that she is a child too. Her exact age is left vague, but she can’t be much older than 13. So she isn’t yet mature enough to handle this situation and grow past it. So when the game starts, she is, as another girl puts it, a jerk to other people.

She is also very bored, and again the metafiction comes into play. Because Arthur wants to keep his genre, safe, cozy and formulaic for the kids reading, all the mysteries Jenny are given are boringly mundane. We get a taste of it in the opening of the game, where Arthur as a writer is clearly afraid and holding back, and still sticking to his formula, so Jenny solves mysteries like “what did the dean eat for breakfast” or “A scatter-brained woman lost her glasses. Where are they?” She of course feels that this is boring, and a waste of her detective talents.

And then the friendly avuncular dean of the university gets murdered, Jenny finds his body, and her mother gets accused of the murder. Jenny’s perspective on the events after her mother gets arrested are not shown directly, but appropriately depicted in a nightmare that leads us into the rest of the game.

It’s scary, but Jenny is able to recover from the trauma and start to unravel the murder mystery. There is a comment on children’s literature genre here, and it’s that kids can handle more things than adults think they are capable of, and in fact find murder and danger in books fun. Arthur Finkelstein acts as the narrator of the game, and he and Jenny end up in conflict quite often, where she is all for doing dangerous things in her investigation, while Arthur wants to keep her safe. And of course the theme is also wider than fiction. It’s about the necessity of kids growing up, abandoning the sentimental idea of childhood innocence that adults impose on them and learning to experience the darker side of life

Since her only parent is in jail, Jenny ends up temporarily fostered by the wealthy Glatz family. And I like this bit, because the Glatz matriarch threatens to make the tomboyish Jenny do traditionally girly things like dress shopping and pony rides, to Jenny’s absolute horror. I like girls being allowed to rebel against femininity like that.

And Jenny’s imprisonment in the Glatz manor enables her to meet Susie Glatz, the biological daughter of the family, and Jenny’s ally and foil for the rest of the game. And Susie is one the other side of the trap for girls that gender roles present. Susie is outwardly the perfect feminine girl that her parents want, and she genuinely likes dresses, horses and cheerleading. The thing is, Susie is also secretly an engineering inventor genius who makes all kinds of nifty gadgets. But because her parents believe strictly in gender roles, Susie has to keep her interest in science and technology a secret. So even if she largely voluntarily conforms to the femininity Jenny rejects, she is still restricted by it. And she is not taken seriously, not even by Jenny.

She is a good foil for Jenny, because Jenny has already dismissed her as a bimbo, as she calls Susie to her face. But Susie is genuinely smart, and she is smart in ways that Jenny is not, as Jenny put all her intelligence skill points into being a detective and not technology. And while Jenny is arrogant, Susie is genuinely nice and just wants to be friends with Jenny. Their relationship has a fun tension to it, that enables Jenny to grow as a character and admit that she does need help from friends like Susie. It’s great character writing. It is literal children’s novel writing, but it allows female characters to be flawed and multifaceted, talks about femininity in nuanced ways and allows the girls characters to interact with each other in ways that are about them and not about boys.

(This game passes the bechdel test in its original sense too. I can easily imagine Jenny/Susie as a budding butch/femme lesbian relationship)

There are other delights of the storytelling in this game, such as the intriguing sci-fi mystery hidden (quite literally) beneath Arthurton that Jenny partly uncovers during the game and is tied into the murder mystery. The narration once talks pointedly about the “twin peaks of Arthurton”, and that’s kinda the vibe the game has at times, which I like (Jenny shares her love of coffee with Twin Peaks’s agent Cooper and she finds people named Cooper and Cole buried in the town’s graveyard). And the game’s 2d hand-drawn artstyle is delightful throughout. The game originally released without voice acting, but a free update in 2020 gave the game full voice acting, and it’s of high quality.

The problem is that the game’s storytelling kinda disappoints in the end. It ends on a cliffhanger, a “to be continued”, with several mysteries left unsolved. And this game was released in 2019, after itself having a protracted development of years involving kickstarter funding, and we haven’t seen a sequel to date, despite the devs telling us they are working on it. It’s very much up in the air at this point, we might get a Jenny Leclue 2, we very well might not.

So I don’t know what to think about Jenny Leclue, Detectivú.The gameplay is often awkward, and the story is unfinished. Still I was so delighted by Jenny as a character, and the writing of her and Susie that I’m willing to forgive its flaws. Definitely worth the 41 sek I spent on it in a GOG sale. And if a sequel happens that wraps up the story I will be there.

mutazione review

mutazione is a beautifully illustrated adventure exploration game where you play as 15 year old kai, a queer teen who travels to the strange island mutazione to take care of her sick grandpa, nonno. mutazione is an island full of mutated people, mysteries flora and animals, and a wonderful ecosystem. kai goes around the island building musical gardens that are requested by different residents and talking to other people and building friendships to learn the community’s juicy gossip!! there is an unfolding strange mystery for kai to explore, and many compelling characters to interact with, along with fun events to attend like music night and a bbq.

the genre is action, and it is available on mac, ios (part of apple arcade), windows, ps4, nintendo switch and xbox one. the age rating is 13+. the gameplay hours are around 6-11. it is a calming, addictive game that you won’t be able to put down. there are nice quality of life features like kai’s journal which guides players towards the next plot point, an encyclopaedia with loads of information about the island’s flora, and frequent auto saving so game progress is almost never lost.

it costs around £16.75, and the game does have an ending which you can’t play after, but there is a feature where you can receive letters from the ppl you’ve met in the next summer after.

i thought it was amazing, and it is one of my fave games i’ve ever played. the illustration was beautiful and really added to the game, it was low pressure and chill with no time constraints, the musical gardens were fun to make and organise, all the characters rly resonated with me (especially miu!!), kai’s queerness was not a central part of the story and was very casual and not like a shock to anyone, i enjoyed finding out the gossip and how it linked to the main plot, and the journal was a great resource to remember what i was doing after picking it up again.

it is a single player only game, and i found it very easy and forgiving, with a nice replay value and options to make new gardens after you’ve finished the game.

the game was released on the 19th september 2019, and has an ign rating of 8.5.

overall, i absolutely adored this game and think it is super underrated, and more ppl need to play it. i am eagerly waiting for the studios next games, and i would recommend this to basically everyone!!!!

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through? 

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

Haha, yeah! The Closer and, to a lesser degree, Medium were the kind of shows I was referencing there. My mom also used to watch those back in the day.

Hey um this might be an odd question but if the setting of OL: N&F is  fall/autumn, what country or city will it take because my mind tells me it is either Poland or Canada. Also I can't wait for the game I am hyped 

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove? 

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺 

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you! 

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something? 

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2? 

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates? 

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird? 

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related 

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update?  I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭 

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references 

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive. 

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3? 

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something. 

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants? 

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. Right now we’ve filled every role that was open.

I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations? 

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted? 

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Asking for your opinion, but do you think Cove would at all be into ABBA? Because all I could imagine during the car trip in step 3 was him and the MC belting to Mamma Mia. 

Haha, yeah, there’d definitely be some ABBA songs he was into.

So throughout the game, Cove can develop different interests depending on the player’s choices; does this mean that he can have different careers in Step 4? Or his is line of work in adulthood never mentioned at all?

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

About the Boueibu iceberg

@delphoxqueen asked me to explain about my list for the iceberg so here it is. I might update this from time to time with links and stuff if I stumble across the original posts. This is all from what I know so feel free to add new info. Also, spoiler warning for RobiHachi and the Boueibu manga and novels. (This is like a masterpost it’s very long)

1. There’s a theory in tumblr about which decade the series is set in, using data like the friday the 13th calendar in s2 ep11. In HK we got a second number for when the next monthly Pretty Boy Contest was happening and using the one from Love it was theorized that around a decade had passed since then, which ended up being true.

2. The stage play had a few original songs and characters exclusive to it so unless you watched the full performance, you probably weren’t able to witness all of them. One of the characters is called “Robato Deniro”, as romanized in the stage play booklet I own.

3. The nurse and the cafeteria staff from the s1 mobile game appear in the background in around the first half of s2 ep3.

4. S2 had an unfinished manga that was only available online and was never released on physical format; it was centered around the defense club and sometimes the conquest club and Beppu brothers. All that’s left from what I know are the scans linked on magicalgirlsandcerulean’s blog.

5. This isn’t that obscure because it’s talked about in the anime, but I’m mentioning it because I think many people dropped it before the ova, where right at the beginning it is revealed that the alien that resucitated Mr. Tawarayama twice was, as described by Io, a “mulberry-colored naked mole rat-looking thing”, and was nicknamed “Moley-san” by Yumoto. At least in the anime, we had never heard before of who this was and it never appeared on screen nor was mentioned again.

6. In HK ep8, Karurusu promises the knights to grant a wish if they show him how earthlings spend summer. Kyoutarou reveals at the end of the episode that he wished that summer lasted one more day so he could spend it doing nothing, which prompts Ichiro to theorize that it’s the 32nd of august, and the next day is the second 1st of september.

7. The stage play was was held from march 10th to 13rd, of which the latter is Ryuu’s birthday. There’s an additional recording of a small celebration with cake focused on Ryuu and Io.

8. Atsushi mentions his older sister in the flashback at the beginning of s1 ep4, but she never appears or is mentioned again.

9. There’s a few posts on tumblr theorizing about what happened to the Hakone parents since Yumoto only says in s2 ep3 that according to Gora, “they are busy with their hot springs tour”. En mentions that it’s a bit suspicious, but it’s all the information we have from the anime. Posts talk about the parents perhaps passing away from an accident or an illness, thus the reason why Gora was so worried about Yumoto’s cold in s1 ep10, but from another post I think it’s implied in the second novel that they actually left their home when Yumoto was still a toddler.

10. It’s no secret that the surnames of the characters are all real onsens in Japan that even the seiyuus have visited, but apparently the Arima onsen has two different kinds of water, “kinsen (gold hot spring)” and “ginsen (silver hot spring)”, with different properties each, and the Kusatsu onsen water also has certain properties, both that were used to build the characters. Additionally, Ryuu’s favorite food are Sato Nishiki cherries, which are grown in the same prefecture, Yamagata, as his onsen, Zaou.

11. The press club lose relevance after s1, with only Kinosaki and Tazawa reappearing briefly in s2 ep2 to interview the Beppu twins after they arrive at the school. Tazawa doesn’t even have lines. Hireashi is mentioned by Zundar in ep11.

12. What the heck

13. Exclusively in the manga we see that Arima met Kinshiro and Atsushi when they were little and they were good friends, but when they met again as adults, Kinshiro seemingly didn’t remember Arima. Atsushi, however, stated that Kinshiro’s talent is remembering people’s faces and names, so Arima wonders if he’s just trying to distance himself from him. He also explains to Akoya that he follows Kinshiro and obeys him because as a child, he was fascinated by his radiant smile. This is never talked about in the anime.

Like the previous point, the anime never shows Akoya being bullied, at most just a slight dislike of his full name, but the manga shows that he was made fun of for it and how he actually hates his surname, to the point of introducing himself formally to the president and vicepresident of the student council as “Holy Angel Akoya”.

15, 16, 17, 19. Batonama lives were the livestreams done through the franchise by the defense club seiyuus on youtube and niconico. They’re all on youtube, without any kind of translation.

Love-ko is a girl with a shell bikini drawn on a piece of cardboard that was used as a girlfriend in the Batonama Love! lives, acted by the seiyuus themselves.

RobiHachi has one episode full of official Boueibu artwork and a parody of the series too, a Love-ko doll appears, and Wombat appears as well, named “The Don”. It received an english dub, so for a bit, people were excited that Wombat was going to speak in english too. Also, various mechas appear in both Boueibu and RobiHachi.

18. The director of Fairy Ranmaru (Masakazu Hishida if I’m not wrong) revealed in an interview that he was inspired by Boueibu and aimed to make a show like that.

20, 21. The website super-groupies.com has results for defense and conquest club lingerie sets, dc and VEPPer tote bags, the Beppus’ scarf rings, dc bath sets and the pumps magicalgirlsandcerulean mentioned. I’ve found the s1 Loveracelets and Caerula Adamas’ ring on different sites, the True Loveracelets on TheChara’s twitter and the Happybraces (apparently called “Hapibure”) on broccoli.co.jp but I’m not sure where exactly they were all announced and sold, so I’ll just drop that.

22, 33. Boueibu was originally pretty much a copy of Sailor Moon, I think they were all going to be called “Lackluster Moon” and that stuff and be literally Sailor Moon genderbent. They were all different from color palettes to physical features (except Yumoto’s), and Ryuu was a shota, even smaller than Yumoto. Their names were also very reminiscent of the five Sailor Senshis’. Even if they made it more original, the show is still clearly inspired by Sailor Moon (just look at Caerula Adamas lol) and Pretty Cure. It has also referenced, very blatantly, animes like Doraemon, Detective Conan, Aikatsu and even Vocaloid, when Kyoutarou tries to guess what Karurusu is saying with ““Just Google It, Asshole”?” in ep1.

23. Wombat’s real name and the name of his planet sound like gibberish to the earthlings and ends up being named after the Earth animal, but Zundar, Dadacha, Karurusu and Furanui all have original names. And I think Hireashi means “goldfish”?

24. If you google “zundar technology”, it’s actually a company in Shanghai, China. Aren’t Wombat and Zundar always talking about “advanced alien technology”?

25. Zundar and Dadacha are siblings, so are Karurusu and Furanui, and so are their father King Kamopapa and their uncle minister Wao, but neither are the same species and, except the first two, not even the same color. But they are supposedly related because they share birthmarks or something like that...

26. Everyone who’s in this fandom knows about the pixel blur and voice pitch censor from s1, but I’ve added it anyway because it’s so rare for mahou shoujo and shounen animes to explain why the heroes aren’t recognized when transformed.

27. A good while of s2 ep11 is spent discussing Zundar’s ex-wife and his problems to give child support. Naturally, he gets mad at this.

28. “Money doesn’t betray” (s1 ep6) and “The despair hidden behind your smile that comes from not being understood” (s3 ep11) are sentences that came out of nowhere and implied that the people they were said by (Io) or about (Taiju) respectively had some kind of angst going on but were never explained at all. They’re famous for just that.

29. The Beppu twins’ house in Andromeda shown in flashbacks had strange green circles that apparently are from another anime I don’t know but honestly I didn’t get it very well... It was revealed on a tweet from Takamatsu.

30. Alien language mostly appeared in s2 due to the many flashbacks of Aki and Haru in Andromeda, but in Boueibu s1, it appears on the Zundar Needle before it is shot on the human. It appears a lot through RobiHachi as well, due to being a story about travelling through space. There might be an alphabetical chart somewhere, but I can’t assure it exists, I might even have dreamed it.

31. Hikaru Midorikawa as the melon monster, Kousuke Toriumi as the bishounen monster, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as the kotatsu and panda monsters and Takuya Eguchi as the remote controller monster in s1 and 2, before going on to voice the main cast in HK. Keisuke Koumoto voiced Hatchi Kita in RobiHachi as well as Akihiko in Boueibu, and the characters look similar.
