a bit of a long ramble but

I'e been observing and following kpop on and off for some time because theres really not much other music out rn besides whatever is mainstream and even that doesnt always interest me enough. but I just wonder why so much of kpop has been so dramatic lately? lkke in these past few years online drama seems to increase surrounding idols especially and what idols do in their personal life doesnt need to be shared online like wtf and it just seems like every small thing for kpop groups tend to become big drama or their fans make it big drama all the time. thats why i watch from afar these days cause it seems anyone can have negative thing to say abt anyone whos in the kpop entertainment. even if there is some good things abt kpop music, overall it doesnt paint it in good light cause it make their fans seem like a pack of wild vultures who watch their idols like hawkes or ppl who cant seem to mind their business or let idols roam freely in their spare time cause smartphones seem to mean ppl can shove them in the idols face esp at airports.

its just kind of tiring most of the time like if people just liked it for the songs it wouldnt be so bad instead it seems to be one extreme or the other. i dont blame idols for never saying who they date bc look at what happened to karina and the actor. social media just spoils the fun of something and makes it into something else enitrely where its now often filled with dramas or toxic behaviours idfk whatever ppl post towards idols it only for them to get more negative reactions. i wouldnt be surprised if most idols are already dating but when it seem to get leaked in the media then ppl who are their fans act like it end of the world. i think the problem isnt social media itself but more so smartphones bc ppl who are more their hard core stans, i guess is the right word, they might go to extremes and they keep showing that extreme behaviour any time something doesnt sit right with them. like one minute the idol can be worshipped and next they can be tarnished so they cant really win anymore.

when ppl say that kpop is becoming westernised i only think thats in the sense of them adding foreigners nowadays to the groups, but the groups and their fans are still very much particular towards things like in 2024 i didnt expect idols dating to still be considered a scandal? whereas in the west they date who they want or idfk adult idols going out to clubs and drinking seem to surprise some folk. even the stuff in the media dont surprise me anymore cause it no a big deal to me at least. honestly with the way their fans behave online and irl towards idols theres one thing im glad abt and that is i will never have to deal with them or knetz lol.

its shame bc theres still so much kpop could bring to music but its so formatted and rigid or set in its ways of doing things. the other thing is they arent debuting older age idols who may have more life experiences and they may be more mentally prepared to handle such fans behaviours or they might have different style vocals and so on, so with that in mind im like its so awkward and horrible to even watch the way much younger idols get treated or mistreated, i should say, by their own fans and maybe by other adults that they work with.

other than whatever is mainstream there doesnt seem to be market for my age group anymore cause in kpop theyre debuting them too young and ik they always done that but it still feels weird to me to like a group whos 4/5/6 years younger than myself. id have loved an other group like btob or a smaller version of exo but nowadays it seems groups have nearly 30 smth members in them and they usually have to be quite young :/ if ateez had been my age it would seal the deal but i dont even care too deeply for them either its just once in awhile sort of thing i will like their songs why does it always have to be more than that?

like im no going to go doolally about every group nowadays either for this reason that my generation seems to be getting left out of a lot of things to do with kpop. like i honestly really feel old these days esp when i look at an idol and theyre like a 99liner or 00liner :O and kpop probs now considers 20 year olds too old as well :( fomo sets in too when u dont particularly care deeply abt dance challenges or latest internet fads cause i rather just like a group for their songs or their talent than their looks or their group position / personality whatever its called

lastly whoever date or marry bts i honestly feel so bad for them like they going to get so much media attention and their fans wont like it either so the internet will descend into more chaos when they marry if they arent already secretly married that is. it really sometimes often feels like the beatles but with the internet involved its 100x more crazy no matter the group it always has bunch of crazies who seem to twke it way too far

I had similar thoughts as you but I have come to terms with it, especially when I’m the same age as NCT 127 Jungwoo things in K-pop music has become less enjoyable too. Hence, I don’t know much about newer groups or groups outside of my interests ㅠ ㅠ

You also pointed out how fans can idolise their idols and drop them the next minute when they’re “wrong”, for example going to the club, dating, and having a life basically. I think all of this is the company’s fault. Take SM for example, I’m not comfortable in the direction that RIIZE is going with the booheju (girlfriend stan) stuff, but it’s what it makes money? Because of this, I’ve slowly detaching myself from them and only like their songs and I have one particular member that I like, he is Lee Sohee. I also like him because of his singing skill and that’s all.

Overall, I agree with you. Tbh it’s the parasocial relationship that is an issue. Some fans seeks comfort from their idol and the idol gives them that. However, often they forget that an idol job stops when they’re behind the camera. They have a life too. So, I’m with you on this too. I have started to like a group for their song and less about what is trendy or their looks and personality. Girl groups wise I’m into Aespa, NewJeans and BabyMonster. Their songs are right up my alley. Now, the younger idols debuting is a problem in it of itself. But this has happened way before in Kpop. Take Taemin for example, or NCT Dream Jisung. I think the main reason is that the younger they are, the easier to “manipulate” them or influence them. I guess if a company debuts someone above 25 years old, they’re going to have a hard time dealing with them because their pre-frontal cortex has developed.

I’m also not Korean so I can’t say for certain this is true. However, I’m Asian. I realise Asian people put so much emphasis on good character. Because of this, idols are seen as role models and they are constantly judged and put on a pedestal. It’s kinda sad really. So, take Seunghan for example, whether his rumours are true or not. His scandal has been a huge part of his idol career and to some, it could look like there is no going back. In terms of fan wars, I think people on the internet are just bored or mean. Most fan wars started by some troll or a fan who likes to compare other idols. I don’t know much about fan wards but this is what I noticed. I’m pretty sure if BTS gets married, it is during the time of their life where they are not at their “prime”. That way is easier for them to be accepted by their fans and the South Korean. Take, Ryewook from Super Junior. He got married recently and the fans seem fine. But ofc, we can’t exclude the obsessive fans. I’m sure idols realise they have obsessive fans. In general, I’m pretty sure idols knows their consequences and downsides to being an idol. We as fans also have full control of our interests. The only thing becoming Westernised in kpop is the song and not the culture. 🤡

i LOVE that he was the one to know and it is a very unique position to be in.

but, i feel like, given how much honesty is important to luka , he shouldve been honest with ladybug immediately and told her that he did indeed find out their identities. (ofc we all know he hid it bc he didnt want to cause marinette to panic, so his feeling overrode his values).

from there they could've done something abt it to plan/prepare for a scenario in which hawkmoth finds out about this weakness.

he SHOULDVE had a role like alyas !! i wouldve fuckin loved that. its even more special bc he could help out both adrien and marinette with superhero stuff. instead luka just gets forgotten :/ he doesnt even need to be viperion, just helping them out in the same way alya does for marinette is a huge help. (even better if alya and luka collaborate)

hehe im coming to say hi here instead of the other way around :3 but omg i think it just hit me now that.... w gwangil gone that's gonna be a very long time without an ot4 comeback and part of me just wants wonsang to enlist as soon as possible so that the time will be shorter until theyre back :( but i wonder if hes working on a lot of songs to put out while theyre enlisted since hes the producer.... i could def see yechan and sangyeop doing some type of comeback or putting out new music and maybe even collabing w other kbands like they did with daybreak. i honestly just hope we still get some new music cause idk how ill survive 2 years with no new lucy music (ik ill survive somehow but ive consistently been able to look forward to amazing comebacks from lucy since i stanned in 2022 during play era so... it'll def be a change of pace) BUT YEAH EMO HOURS HERE I COME 🫠

Seeing the photos from their schedules really made it hit home that he isn't there. Stoppp it hadn't even occurred to me that we won't be getting ot4 comeback for a while. I do hope that Wonsang goes soon, but you're right he's probably busy working on stuff that they can put out while he's gone. That would make most sense anyway. I think he'd maybe go around Dec/early next year? I'd imagine they'd want him to be there for award show season if they perform and then he'd go after that? I really hope Yechan and Sangyeop put out music or at least just do schedules while the others are away. Alot of the videos that I had seen when villain came out were just Yechan and Sangyeop, so I wasn't sure if that was them preparing us for how it will be over the next couple of years lol. I think they'll continue to thrive even as a duo, isn't N.Flying still doing well despite being down 3 members? (I haven't kept up to date with them, so I genuinely don't know. Wonsang's song for Holly was so cute oh my goodness. Another song like domino would be so funny. It's such a funny song, especially with the intro ahaha. Maybe he would put funny sound bites from videos of you both in the intro, from clips of you doing the most stupid things (but he finds it endearing because he is so in love with you). Oh and the bit between the verse and chorus could be him listening off things that he loves about you (in his really cute voice 🥺)

I feel like Gwangil would write such a goofy song. I definitely think he would be able to write a really emotional song like Sangyeop, but he's not gonna show you that yet (he's waiting for the right moment because he's going to ask for your hand after, I need to stop lol). I could see it being a really cheesy song or one that's filled with stupid puns because he knows that you hate them but you love him and he's going to be annoying about it. some gossip if u wanna hear it

been awhile since i heard some juicy gossip but today at lunch in my usual spot (the library) i heard some. So theres another group of girls who spend lunch in there i vaguely know them....sorta... anyways as far as i know of their reputations theyre sort of the "bad kids" idk just the general clique theyre in. So the one girl whos theyre ringleader whos in some of my classes who well call Lara is quite the bitch. shes super rude to me. Lara is also the girl who only got grounded for a month cause she had a boy sneak in her window at 1am awhile ago. She was talking about this other girl who well call Honey. She was saying "Honey is a total whore, shes slept w a total of 11 guys!!! who knows she might even have an STD or smthn, that whore." needless to say im a bit surprised. Honey is also really rude shes also like really ignorant? shes in my history class and we had to explain the diff. between the american civil war and WWII....so theres that. (cue teenagers gojo and reader adopting kids without dating and falling in love sorry not sorry) anyways im super curious where this is gonna go!! bc ik gojo’s totally peeved abt that interaction with yu and reader ( and tho hes an ass for it i was kicking my feet bc gojos so dumb. i totally want to read more of the other students making grabby hands at reader and making her giggle just to spite gojo so bad><<)

also!! in your last kiss to dare?? gojo snippet… in your author’s note you wrote how gojo would kiss geto any day of the week, im curious of youll ever write a poly!stsg with reader? bc i can actually see that happening, theyre both menaces who love each other and it comes with no surprise they have someone to share with who can actually endure them and it shocks everyone around them😭😭🥹like gojo is a menace and everyone thinks geto is nicer.. but no geto is just as evil and cunning!! together they make a wicked duo and poor reader suffers from their neverending schemes🙁

If it turns out that Amelia and Zeph had a thing. I would one scream called but 2 not worry to much about it. Because when the MC talks about their relationships. They were anything serious (or at least that what I got from it. I chose childhood friend and always felt like they were into someone else.) An then the MC says they weren't anything serious they just did some kissing and stuff. So it felt way more like friendship that got complicated and then Zeph instead of talking it through, dipped.

(I feel like later in the season Zeph gonna come back. ) Now whether Zeph is gonna make an apperance on the show and you have a choice to get back with them or not is up in the air. But I don't feel like the Zeph situation has to be the nuclear thing it can very much be what put a strain on the relationship. But also it couls be what fixs it. Like it turns out Amelia rejected Zeph cause of MC and Zeph decided to disappear. It could be dramatic messy but not like sister ending drama.

I totally agree with u that Zeph is going to make an "appearance" again..obvi not in person - theyre not gonna do ex in the villa twice lol. But he was mentioned AND named for a reason. I like your thought about Zeph going after Amelia and her rejecting him. As much as I believe FB is prob going to choose the evil, messy route that Amelia scooped up Zeph from us id prefer the supportive sister route.

lol your post about men saying shit like "theres no better enemy for women than women" is so true. Like men literally bitch and moan about other men too.

I sometimes lurk in communities of male lolcows, who usually have a much larger male fanbase (or male hatedom) and the men there are ruthless. Like they make fun of their appearances, their work and art, the way they talk or emote, how they get angry or sad and so on. Like literally every single detail. And many times, these lolcows used to be popular in their youth but degraded in some way, so their haters are mostly middle aged men, so no, its not only teenage boys being inmature and trolling.

Like some guys are made fun of for being fat, others for having receding hairlines, others for being too short, or just being ugly in general. Theres a guy whos constantly made fun for having a weird shaped leg. Its literally incredible.

Also, a lot of them are called autistic, usually as an insult, due to how they behave. An interesting thing I found out its that many people who use autist as an insult are autists themselves, they just like to feel superior to these lolcows because they're "higher functioning" or more succesful. Many use the word retard too, and I even seeing mongoloid used.

I think the only reason why women are stereotyped like this, but men aren't even though they behave similarly (and id say men are actually more cruel) its because men are seen as individuals and women as a group. Its kinda like when a boy is bad at math and people just assume its just him, but when its a girl its like "wow girls suck at math." Or when there are news like of a man raping and killing women and people are like "humans are so fucked up" even though this is mostly a male phenomenon. Like men can be as catty and drama seeking as women are, most people just fail to see the same patterns and behaviours because theyre considered the "average/base human".

Yeah, men are ruthless between each other. When I was in middle school, guys in my class were making fun of a boy tank top... saying that it wasn't masculine, or whatever.

They'll also leverage that cruelty to emotionally manipulate women saying "we don't talk enough of male depression". Of course, they won't say that men depression isn't taken seriously because men are the specialist in downplaying emotional struggle (and no, male being depressed for being virgin at 25 doesn't count). I mean, look at them clowning male victim of (sexual) abuse...and then act like victim when male victims are not talked about enough and blame women(?!) for that.

Men have seen what feminism has done for women, and instead of taking the lucid resolution of doing the same for themselves and try to improve & raise awareness about male centric issues, they behave like jealous spoiled children, and act like the positive outcome of feminism came out of thin air, that women were just naturally privileged (when women FOUGHT to have the "privilege" they now have).... And yet, those same men more often than not expect women's involvement in uplifting men - like constantly debating women's only organization legitimacy and complaining about how they do nothing for men....when literally nothing stops men doing the same. They just naturally feel entitled to female labor.

Men project A LOT of their insecurities onto women, anyway.

The "you'll die alone and live with 30 cats" trope? objective reality shows that (older) men are more desperate for companionship. Dating app are dominated by men. Clubs are usually free for women because men are outnumbering them.

"Women are bad driver" => stats show that most car accident are caused by men.

"Women peak at 25" => the age of first marriage is increasing. Men are just seething because women realize their options and won't marry with the first bum that will propose. And the more women will realize they have options, the most men will have to compete to women's emotional & sexual access. They refuse to let that happen.

One thing that is extremely funny and telling about, men, is that they will have no problem with statistically evidence as long as it comes to race, with them joking about the 13%, lumping a whole race into behavioral traits.....but the moment women do the same with criminal stats and simply acknowledge that men champion to a disproportional rate sexual crimes and violent crime, they'll lose their mind, be like "HOW DARE YOU LUMPING ALL MEN AS CRIMINALS??!!1!1!1" ....when these idiots had no problem doing the same through a racial lense.... Which, hilariously, still have MEN championing crime for every race, so they are failing to disprove what women say 💀
