Adrienne is a freshly 21 year old, openly queer and business oriented person. They have periods where they present themselves more masculine or androgynous but they’re currently in their hyper-feminine era. They're a very ambitious but cheerful person, always the first to hype you up when you need it.

They consider themselves as “a human that isn’t limited by boundaries created by mankind” and refuse to use a set gender identity to refer to themselves as so they’ll use gender-fluid/ nonbinary interchangeably to avoid feeling chained to a particular identity. They’re the biggest believer in “You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone or anything, including yourself. Do what makes you happy, our time is limited. Love to live your life.”

They just got out of a two year long relationship with an ex-partner who wasn't very supportive of their gender identity or the way they'd express themselves. "Since I don't set limitations for myself gender wise, I don't mind if people call me "she" from time to time but he'd go out of his way to only refer to me by those pronouns or go out of his way to make it known that I was only a "girl/ woman" in his eyes. Although I had a lot of love for him at some point in time, he was no longer someone I could say I aligned with." They don't have a set preferences for their "ideal type" but gravitate to people who have very similar desires or goals as they do. They're very motivated to reach the goals they set for themselves and heavily desire to be with someone who can match that energy. They are very attracted to the way certain people carry themselves.

They have a HUGE passion for baking & cooking. It’s the best way they express their affection. Sure, they’ll say “I love you” or verbally express anything anything else but their skills in the kitchen is the best way they’ll respond to anything. Going through a breakup? Here’s your favorite type of cookie made especially catered with your tastes in mind. Stressed about school? Here’s a homemade meal with all your favorite ingredients! It’s your birthday?? Well hope you enjoy a day full of taste testing a bunch of dishes made especially for you to try and enjoy. Their dream is to open up a bakery and/or a restaurant to share their skills with the world.

Although they can say they have a support home life, it’s definitely far from perfect. They have an older sister (around the age of 29/30) that they lost contact with at a young age. She "disappeared" from Adrienne's life when they were 7/8 years old & their parents were going through a divorce. Their sister went with their mom and they stayed with their dad. Their mom passed 3-4 years after the split so no one really has heard anything from their sister since. They hate when anyone refers to them as “Lily” but have the fondest memories of their older sister calling them that. Their Dad is kind of hesitant to talk about the topic and avoids it as much as possible but that's made it so that hes more understanding + supportive of Adrienne even if he doesn't necessarily agree with something.

I feel that yeonjun and beomgyu are different, but similar at the same time. they both have great vitality, they are strong, friendly, passionate, intelligent and they always spread a lot of positivity and happiness. they seek power and success and, many times, they tend to crash, since they both like to command and don't want to be controlled. their dynamic is just as we see it in their videos… they are like tom and jerry lol. idk if they consider one another as friends, but they are very fond of each other. they always have a good time together and they genuinely care about each other… what's more, I feel that if one of them is sad the other one comes to comfort him. if one of them makes a joke and the other doesn't like it, cause he considers that he crossed the line, the first one will apologize asap.

as I said before, neither of them wants to be bossed around by the other, so many times they may argue. I feel that they have different ways of getting what they want… it's like they have similar goals, but the way they work to achieve them is different. eventually, they reach an agreement and always have very good results, but being able to reach the last stage takes A LOT of work.

they may have gotten along better in the past, since they were trainees and their only focus was debuting. yes, they imagined their future together but one thing is to dream it and another thing is to live it.

I feel that one of them is the one who gives the most in this relationship, while the other only receives. there is a willingness by one of the parties to become closer and even change something about themselves to improve the relationship with the other… but sometimes there comes a point where this first person gets tired of always being the one who sacrifices everything for this connection.

the person who only receives in this relationship finds it difficult to get out of his comfort zone and work to improve this dynamic. I feel that he is not interested in being close, since he thinks that because of how different they are, it will take too long for them to become close… in other words, he feels that it is impossible for them to become friends 💀

I think there is also some competition and rivalry between them and if they continue to behave like this, it will get worse in the future…

yeonjun and beomgyu are aware that their connection can improve if there is will between the two parties and communication improves. they know that they have different opinions, but they should learn to respect each other and talk maturely and calmly when they can't come to a conclusion. I feel that if they got along better they would be very powerful together and would achieve great things.

although there is a certain imbalance between the two, both parties are afraid that this will worsen in the future.

although yeonjun considers beomgyu to be a very passionate person who always spreads good vibes, he actually sees him as a super insecure and sensitive person. he feels that his colleague has a lot of self-esteem issues and that he still hasn't figured out who he really is.

I also feel that sometimes beomgyu teases him just to make him smile. I just heard "don't take everything so seriously. enjoy your life". I get the impression that beomgyu wants to be close with yeonjun, but he does it cautiously. he also feels that yeonjun is essential to the group.

Ive crocheted 4 hats now!!! Technically 4.5 but im thinking about unraveling that one anyway bc like. It's expensive, soft, nice yarn and idk i want to do smth Special w it, or smth. Uhh and now im like. I want to try to actually make smth off a Pattern (bc so far ive been just following youtube video tutorials) and id like to do smth pretty and fancier etc. Unfortunately i uhhhh struggle to read crochet patterns and understand them and i get overwhelmed very quickly by them and give up. I have one in mind i want to try again later today thats like a pretty lacey shawl and i think i have enough of this one yarn to do it? We will see.

I also want to try other things and bigger things. But im begrudgingly realizing i dont actually have enough of any one type of yarn to do a lot of projects? Grumpy about that lol. Also, trying to keep myself in check and recognizing that im feeling way too ambitious about some things lol. I should try new things and step out of my comfort zone and try to make things, yes, but i need to be realistic and try to tackle no more than like 2 projects at a time i think bc ill get overwhelmed prolly?

...also i think i need to get a yarn needle, or check the sewing kit we have and see if there's one in there? Ive been getting by on projects that use one without one but like thats getting more and more intimidating

OH ALSO i had a bundle or whatever of soft, pretty, expensive, 100% alpaca wool yarn that got super tangled earlier this yr and i was beginning to think the only way id get it untangled was if i CUT it which i didn't want to do but GUESS! What i did last night. I fucking got it, i untangled it, im so proud of me. Nice. Semi related but ive been thinking about unraveling some of the things ive made out of the alpaca wool i have bc like...like i wasted all this nice pretty soft yarn on a useless hyperbolic crochet. Its very pretty and soft and it was good practice and i dont regret making it but i do regret fastening it off and now not being able to use that yarn to make smth pretty and soft and nice thats for me that i can WEAR, yknow?

Also the first scarf i made, id. Id like to undo it i think and use the yarn for smth else if i can bc even tho im glad i finished it and made it and got all that practice, and i dont regret making it, i do think its hideous and i dont think im ever gonna wear it. And also i regret that it went in the washing machine and then mistakenly got put into the tumble dryer and now its kinda like..felted i think is the term? So im wondering if its even possible to undo that and salvage the yarn for something Else? (Does anyone know? If i can undo an alpaca wool crochet project that got a little felted from one run in the dryer and salvage the yarn?)

I've been meaning to write again, and I agree with you on your opinion of Tom. Personally, after researching on psychopaths a fair bit (for one of my own OCs), I feel that—at surface level—Tom can be classified as one. But nevermind that now, bc I absolutely LOVE the way you write him.

But also omg thank u for your lovely compliments on white dove, I really really loved writing that series so it's super gratifying to get all the positive feedback!!!! Hell yeah I'm geared for a sequel and it's just absolutely full of my fave fanfic tropes I am ready to self-indulge once more.

Pt. 1. I don't see any issue with headcanoning Tom as having a sociopathy/psychopathy personality disorder, I just really dislike when people don't do what you have done and don't actually research what that actually means. I think general media has been 'fascinated' by 'psychopaths' for the last few decades and have created a really weird cultural conceptualisation of what someone with that disorder looks like/acts like.

People will have Tom committing genuinely horrific acts of violence for his own pleasure, fucking with people for fun, and engaging in lots of different taboo kinks and then explain it by simply being like 'he's a psychopath' and it's like oh... 😬

Idk I find that specific trope lazy in terms of story-telling, shallow in terms of character interpretation, and damaging in terms of real-life consequences for normal ass people with personality disorders.

Pt. 2. All that being said, I (personally) disagree with you in terms of Tom being able to be classified psychopathic!

I'm aware that some people distinguish between 'primary' psychopaths (those with genetic predisposition) and 'secondary' psychopaths (those who develop the disorder from environmental factors, sometimes called sociopaths) though it should be noted that this distinction isn't really agreed upon across the field and is under debate lol. But I feel the need to address both since I'll probs get anons "calling me out" me if I don't haha.

Premeditation before acts of violence, severely diminished emotional responses, and a lack of anxiety are traits characterised to primary psychopathy, and at first glance I can kind of see a case for Tom here. But... some of Tom's/Voldemort's biggest character beats revolve around him being impulsive, hyper-emotional, and extremely reactionary (like just killing an entire room of his own followers and goblins after finding out Harry knows abt the Horcruxes, or freaking out about the prophecy and murdering the Potters for that matter, or even duelling with Dumbledore in the Ministry etc. etc.).

Like I know he can be super calculating and set up long-arching plans and shit, but I've never really read Tom as being that 'premeditated' in what he does. He's ambitious, yeah, but to me I see him setting his eyes on a goal and doing everything he possibly can to reach that goal in a sort of perfectionist-driven, covetous desperation where if he just pushes long enough and hard enough and far enough, he'll prove that he can do fucking anything and everything in spite of everyone else and fuck everyone who said he couldn't - rather than this detached, cool, logical premeditative flow-chart of decisions.

On the other hand, the reasoning behind Tom having secondary psychopathy reads as more logical for the character for me - being an orphan in war-time England and having to essentially self-prioritise to the absolute extreme to survive could all be strong environmental stressors that would result in learned lack of empathy. Crimes committed by those with secondary psychopathy are also (apparently) more emotionally driven, more reactionary, and more impulsive. But.... Tom does still set up these long-arching plans, ya know? He's not acting solely on impulse, and he's also still very emotional outside of his acts of violence. Plus he's also never struck me as particularly anxious (which is a trait often used to distinguish secondary psychopathy). He's both impulsive and premeditated at times, just like how most ppl act both impulsively and premeditated at times.

The point I'm trying to make, lol, is that I think it's a misread of the character to consider him 'unemotional' or detached from others bc I've always thought of him as like the most extremely emotional character in the whole series. Canon demonstrates him to be highly emotional but just very very controlled/performative most of the time. He's shown to have bouts of hugely expressive rage, and he acts very vindictively which suggesting he takes things super personally, but he's mostly able to hide these emotions around people he doesn't trust. This might make him manipulative but it does not make him psychopathic/sociopathic.

In summary, I don't read Tom as having a personality disorder, I read him as being selfish, jealous, emotional, egotistical, covetous, self-aggrandising, suspicious, and manipulative. He's a dick, your honour.

Osamu’s career as a Hogwarts student is made up of 2 things: quidditch and a secret snack and substance smuggling ring he started in his second year

the Miya twins have a reputation with quidditch just like with volleyball (Osamu is a chaser, Atsumu is a beater. great team)

(i imagine they’re pureblood too, not rlly important though. if you’re half/muggleborn, enjoy teaching his clueless ass about basic muggle society)

you’re another proud and competitive slytherin, who somehow has dirt on anyone and everyone

you’re on the quidditch team too, even better. that’s where you grow close to the twins at first, making you guys a power trio in your own right. quidditch dream team <3

not only do you spend a lot of time together, getting to know each other intimately as teammates (beyond the facades) and allowing his feelings to grow slowly yet surely, but Atsumu is also there to provoke and make Osamu subconsciously jealous when he gets feelings

you’re great at talking Atsumu in circles, which frustrates him and amuses Osamu

(more than once the twins have gotten into pseudo-duels and nearly burned the quidditch stands to the ground. lucky your common room is in a stone dungeon omfg)

yeah rumors happen and it’s annoying, bc you really don’t need people staring at you all the time, but neither you or Osamu even address it

both of you are invited to Slughorn’s parties along with Atsumu, you’re that couple

you’re staring someone down and he comes from behind and snakes (ha) his arms around your waist, glaring at them over your shoulder. 11/10 terrifying

you’re a top student, mostly bc of your charm though. no one knows if your good grades are real (they are, but it doesn’t hurt being the teacher’s favorite)

he knows you exist, but no one really expects much from you. aha, big mistake

every single time you sweep everyone in classes, one way or another, you come out on top (hey i won’t question your methods) and oh does it piss him off. you’ve hit a competitive nerve my friend,, little bit of envy too :/

What you guys do together/ What's it like with them

- this can either be the most fun relationship or the most comforting, laid back one ever!

- and honestly both are good choices

- neither of you really want to lose your childhood, cause you only get it once

- so it's not uncommon to try out new hobbies or experience new things together to make the most of this time you have

- there are a lot of firsts with him because of that

- he doesn't mind having fun out in public, like that's the point of going out to him, but he also agrees with not wanting to cause trouble, one) that shit's embarrassing 2) he knows it'll make you, himself, and others uncomfortable, so there's really no need to do something uncalled for

- however, despite all the fun of childhood, it's also good to have calm, quiet moments in certain relationships, such as this one

- he doesn't mind, and actually quite enjoys indoor dates, like studying together or watching your favorite movies/shows

- that gives him a chance to be and focus on you only, and maybe get to know you better

- no matter what you do, you two have a silent understanding of what you enjoy, don't enjoy, and what each others needs and wants are

- and he also understands how you might not like to initiate things, he can understand to a degree

- for a while it's a matter of who will make the first move, but once he gets comfortable, he won't mind initiating it for you :D

I’ve been having a good Norwegian week. I seem to go through ups and downs - some weeks I feel like I can barely understand anything and maybe I’m only B1, some weeks I feel like I understand almost everything and I’m definitely B2. This week was more like the latter, which is really nice because I’ve been feeling like the former for a little while. That’s just how learning any skill is though. For a while I fluctuated between feeling like I was maybe B1, but maybe only A2, and I’d never reach intermediate level properly. Which gives me hope that someday I’ll be sat here talking about B2/C1 or C1/C2 in the same way (although honestly, I never expect to reach C2 without actually moving to Norway, but C1 is the dream).

Of course, my writing and my speaking skills still need work, but I’m on it with the writing. I need to do something about the speaking though. Thank you so much to all the native speakers who’ve offered to chat with me - I promise at some point I will stop being a big baby and actually take you up on it. Idk if I’m just nervous because I know my spoken Norwegian is shit, or whether I feel guilty, like I’m just using you for my own selfish reasons, or I’m scared you’ll talk to me for five minutes then realise I’m a boring and awful person and never want to talk to me again, but something’s holding me back big time :(

I’ve already talked about my Spanish exam and how rubbish that was. I’m still hoping to scrape a 2:1, but we’ll see what happens. I only have my writing exam left now, which I’ll have 24 hours to do and all the resources I can possibly access, so I’m not worried about that. That’s happening on the 30th.

Thunderbird: Yet out of all of them, he yearns for adventure and to try new things, placing him here.

Darkiplier: 

Slytherin. This was obvious. I tried. Cunning, ambition, etc! Dark is the most cunning and determined of the YouTubers Dark!Sides. He thinks of himself and only himself. He acts on only what we strengthen him. I was torn between this and Ravenclaw, but chose this as some of the Ravenclaw traits don't line up.

As for the American school, I would probably place him Horned Serpent. Almost put him in Wampus, but I cannot picture Dark as a solider. While he has the mind, Dark doesn't possess the drive of a solider, and the only other place he would fit would be as a scholar.

Dr. Iplier: 

Slytherin. He doesn’t care about anything but his goal. He is cunning to get there and only has ambition.

Wampus. The mind of a warrior. He has his message and he must spread it. You are dying. Sorry. 

Googleiplier: 

Ravenclaw or Slytherin but I am gonna say Ravenclaw. This entity is as witty as he is intelligent. He has to be creative 

Horned Serpent. His primary objective is answer questions as quickly as possible. How is he not in the house of the scholar?

Bingiplier:

 Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. I say Hufflepuff. While we don’t know much about him, I’d say he is mostly loyal to his cause more than anything else. 

Thunderbird. That skateboard? Uh yeah. He’s got wanderlust. He is an adventurer. 

The Host: 

Ravenclaw. Even in his days as the Author, he has used his own thoughts to narrate the lives of everyone around him. That is creativity. That is wit. 

Horned Serpent. Intelligence and scholars? That’s him. *Drop Mic*

Wilford Warfstash: 

Slytherin. He is cunning, ambitious, and wants nothing more than get to the point of his desires, regardless who he kills or who is sacrificed in the process. He was like this even as William. 

Wampus. No doubt in my mind. He was a solider. Still is at heart. Always will be.

So. Gryfindor. No question and here is why. He keeps fighting. But he doesn’t for ambition or loyalty. He does it because he has the will to. Because he’s brave. Basically IDK it’s what my heart says.

And Wampus. Just as he is this, he does his job because he has to. He has nothing but to fight on.

Damien the Mayor: 

This was harder than I fucking thought okay. But I am gonna say Hufflepuff. He is loyal. Enough said. Cause I hurt.

And for this I oddly enough am gonna say Horned Serpent. Out of all the options, I think he wants to obtain knowledge in attempts to attain his Hufflepuff loyalty. 

Celine the Seer:

Ravenclaw. I almost said Slytherin, but she took her discomfort with the house and turned it into fuel to learn about what she can do and how she can uncover the secrets. 

And she meets with her brother again in Horned Serpent. Look up for why.

Slytherin. He is ambitious. He is cunning. He will not stop until he has revenge. 

Wampus. Look up. He is numb. He does what he must and will do so if it ends with blood.

Jack/ Sean: 

Hufflepuff. Okay. Loyal, compassionate, and so many other traits similar to this are used and surrounded by Sean. I mean PMA, right?

Annnndddd Thunderbird. C'mon is this even a question? Yes I almost said Pukwudgie, cause that's what he does for our community, but our Jackie is a brave green bean who likes to see the world and try new things.

Antisepticeye: 

Gryffindor. Okay. Lemme explain myself. You were all expecting Slytherin. I don't blame you. But here's the thing. While I agree that Anti could be Slytherin, but he is more Gryffindor for his recklessness rather than cunning nature. He is brave, fearless, daring, courageous, and etc. The only thing that separates him from this house is chivalry. Yet even still this house is a better fit. While he has the ambition and self preservation of a Slytherin, in my mind, he is more on the brave side then cunning. After all, who said bravery was a positive thing?

As for the other school, I'm thinking Wampus. Our options are healer, scholar, adventurer, or warrior and Anti is obviously more of a warrior. Calculating and violent. Daring and bold. He will fight hard and he will fight to the bloody end.

Jackaboyman: 

Hufflepuff. In my own head cannon, this boy thinks with one thing, his heart. He jumps straight into things without thought, but it’s not out of bravery or courage. It is out of loyalty and love.

Pukwudgie. He is a lover, not a fighter. So I think he’d rather heal than any of the other options. 

Dr. Schneeplestein: 

Ravenclaw. Yes! He's not evil yall can actually fight me. It was Anti who change the perception of everything. He is smart. Witty. The perfect Ravenclaw.

Pukwudgie. He’s a doctor? So this is obvious? 

Chase Brody: 

Hufflepuff. I almost said Slytherin? But loyalty. Chase is nothing if not loyal. He is loyal to his, wife, to his kids, even to his best friend in a coma. He is and always will be loyal

1: What’s your preferred written genre?  Probably fantasy?  I really enjoy the process of world-building, and since I grew up reading mostly fantasy it’s all the genre that I’m most familiar with.  But considering the WIPs I’ve had over the years (1 adventure, 1 scifi, 2 contemporary thrillers, 2 fantasy) the only actual consistency in genre I have is that they all have romantic subplots at some point.  I don’t consider myself a romance writer, but the facts say I’m just in denial 😂

2: What’s your preferred reading genre?  Okay, this one is a definite vote for fantasy.  My parents are both bookworms and, as a general rule, fantasy is their preferred genre too--which explains why I read and reread Tolkien (LotR) and Feist (Riftwar Saga) a lot while growing up.  I love everything about fantasy, there’s nothing that’s off the table.  A lot of old fantasy has escapist elements which appeals to me, but I also love the cultural elements--basing systems off certain cultures or mythologies, or reading about completely new/fictitious cultures.

3: What’s a trope that absolutely speaks to your heart?  Pyrrhic victories!  Not a trope that I consume a lot of, but one I absolutely love creating.  Considering I play a lot with black and gray morality in my writing, it’s unfortunately the case that the costs usually end up being higher than the reward.  I also love character deaths, which contribute to pyrrhic victories too. 

4: Is Science Fiction also Fantasy? Discuss.  So, for me, this is like... squares and rectangles.  All SciFi is Fantasy, but not all Fantasy is SciFi.  In my opinion, fantasy really just means “a story set in a fictitious world”.  SciFi, no matter how probable it can be at times, is set in a fictitious world.  Even near-future or contemporary SciFi still involves changing an element from reality that makes the setting fictitious.  But not all Fantasy is SciFi, because SciFi to me means “a story set in a fictitious world that focuses on or highlights elements of which science is a core component”.  Sure, all fantasy stories will have scientific components--I’ve yet to find a story that doesn’t play by some rule of physics/chemistry/etc--but most of the time, if you’re reading a fantasy novel about dragons, the novel doesn’t go on about the anatomical structure or biological functions of the dragons, right?  The scientific component is technically there, but completely ignored.  A SciFi story is a fantasy novel that would/does go into those components.  That’s just my two cents idk

5: What’s the synopsis of your WIP? Ahh, I’m just going to include super short mini-synopses of my two big WIPs...

For Alight in Ashes... 

In a society constantly uprooted by revolution, humans have been designated as the inferior species and are beset by disease, slavery, and genocidal Hunts.  Cassandra, a petty thief, is determined to prove that humans are capable of fighting back, regardless of the cost.

For Eosophobia...

Rumors of a cure for the engineered supervirus Dawn have begun to circle the forested region of Cascadia, dragging out the remnants of human civilization from hiding–and also their mutated cousins, Biotics.  With competing groups desperate to get their hands on any possible cure the Columbia Gorge transforms into a battleground waiting to explode. 

6: If you could speed date any literary character who would it be?  Mara.  Oh my god.  I would marry her.  I haven’t read The Empire Trilogy in years, which is my loss, because it’s fantastic and I have such a crush on the protagonist/MC, Mara.  She’s such a powerful character, and I love how ambitious and resourceful and reckless she is, in a way.  

7: If you were a literary character who would you be?  Haha, okay, I’m totally Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.  Not the “super rich” part, which is unfortunate, but the arrogant, prideful, honest part?  The best-known-for-my-poorly-worded-and-soul-crushing-love-confessions part?  That’s me. 

8: What’s a big theme you notice in your writing? Moral subjectivity!  I love bringing it up in my writing and reflecting it in my characters.  I just have fun with making readers root for someone who goes against standard morality--rooting for villains, or dark anti-heroes, etc. It’s my goal to write characters that are so likeable or powerful that my readers will root for them, no matter how the odds look or what actions “need” to be taken. 

9: What is a theme you hate seeing in writing?  I hate “love conquers all”, which is somewhat ironic considering I’m a self-described romantic.  But I’m a strong believer that love only works if you’re willing to put in the necessary work that a relationship requires.  I’m tired of love being portrayed as “if it’s meant to be, it will be”.  It’s not inherently a bad theme, but one that’s vastly overused.

10: What was your opinion of your last high school Literature teacher?  I... honestly don’t even remember his name.  He was a nice and reasonable guy as a person, and was pretty laid back for the most part.  But he felt out of touch with his students--I don’t remember ever being invested in his class (to be fair, high school was all easy As for me (that’s not bragging, I went to a really shitty high school where they were just trying to pass as many of us as they could because graduation rates were atrocious. haha and then i dropped out but whatever)).

and don’t even get me started on Suzaku wtf I have so many issues with him but from a characterization POV he was brilliant??? the way they turned around the white-knight trope with him and the conflict between him and Lelouch was such an INTENSE thing throughout the series (though I’m not sure how I feel about his relationship with Euphy but I always thought his attachment to her was less about actual love and more about seeing some sort of salvation in her)

Aaaand yes, I heard about the season 3. Though I’m not sure what they’re going to do with it lol. The fandom is so divided on that whole “Is Lelouch alive or dead? SHOULD he be alive or dead??” front. I always thought he was dead for sure, and his death was meaningful because it also came with a complete sacrifice of his character in the eyes of his people, so idk how they’re going to reconcile that with a new season. (Sorry for blowing up your inbox. I couldn’t resist!)

1. LELOUCH, MAN. Was he right? Did he NEED to be right? Was he right? UNLESS HE DID SOMETHING TO ENSURE EVERLASTING PEACE IN THE TWO MONTHS BEFORE HE HAD HIMSELF ASSASSINATED, I DON’T THINK HE WAS RIGHT TO DO WHAT HE DID. AND HE NEEDED DESPERATELY TO BE RIGHT BECAUSE HIS WHOLE THING WAS, I HAVE TO KEEP GOING, I HAVE TO KEEP KILLING, I HAVE TO KEEP USING PEOPLE AS PAWNS BECAUSE IF I DON’T ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, THEN ALL THEIR SACRIFICES WILL AMOUNT TO NOTHING. AND HE JUST KEEPS THIS MINDSET THROUGHOUT THE ANIME, USING PEOPLE AND KILLING PEOPLE AND CLIMBING UP A MOUNT EVEREST OF BODIES JUST SO THAT HE CAN ACHIEVE A GOAL THAT IN THE END HE WOULDN’T BE ALIVE TO ENJOY.

I AM JUDGING HIM BECAUSE HE USED SO MANY PEOPLE EXACTLY LIKE PAWNS ON A CHESS PIECE, TRAMPLED OVER THEIR FREE WILL, ENSLAVED THEM, HAD THEMSELVES COMMIT FUCKING SUICIDE, EVEN THOUGH HE ACCUSED THE EMPEROR OF DOING SOMETHING SIMILAR. WAS IT BETTER FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE IN PEACE THROUGH THEIR COMMON HATRED OF A DICTATOR? WAS IT BETTER FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE IN FEAR OF DESTRUCTION, LIKE SCHNEIZEL WANTED TO DO WITH DAMOCLES?

On the one hand I think it’s better for people to be united, rather than living in constant fear. But in the end, all of the people who died for Lelouch’s goal – and it was HIS goal, because WHEN DID THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD EVER ASK HIM TO GIVE THEM WORLD PEACE? EVEN HIS OWN SISTER NEVER ASKED HIM TO DO THAT AND HE WAS APPARENTLY DOING IT FOR HER – all of the people who died for his goal, all their sacrifices would be meaningless if the peace he wants is broken. 

Now, he said he wanted to create a kinder world for Nunnally to live in (and isn’t that selfish?). And maybe he did – maybe, just maybe, it will last her lifetime. But what if it doesn’t? There will always be people who will use others for their own ends. That’s what keeping people as people, with free will, does, and Lelouch was totally willing to accept that (he killed his goddamn parents because of it). Say the world has like a decade or two of peace. How long will it take for some ambitious asshole to screw it up again and break the peace? They have Zero as a symbol, but in the end, will it be enough? If it isn’t enough, then everyone will have died and been enslaved for nothing. Every single person Lelouch killed had a family, had people who loved them, had goals, they weren’t just chess pieces (as Shirley’s father’s death and Shirley’s consequent breakdown brought home to him), and I think he understood that. But he had to keep playing them as chess pieces to achieve his goal. And if peace is broken, then like Lelouch said, their sacrifices will have been for nothing.

2. Suzaku man, I am SO FRUSTRATED with him. Like I thought he was a white knight in the beginning but it turns out he was suicidal and like you said, wanting salvation. He was so inconsistent. He said he wanted to change things the “right way,” but he supports a genocidal nation and throws himself into situations where he might be killed. HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE ANYTHING IF HE DIES??! 

But in the end he finally changes his mind and does things Lelouch’s way and it strips off all of his ‘white knight’ image altogether. And he is finally honest. So I like that. The way he and Lelouch change as people, and the way they are both so fallible and human, are two of the reasons why I like the show so much.

Euphemia was my FAVORITE CHARACTER (because she was the only one who thought she could achieve peace, or some form of peace, WITHOUT MURDERING SCORES OF PEOPLE) and what Lelouch did to her, however inadvertently, will always break my heart. I think Suzaku did see her as a kind of salvation, and he did love her, but he didn’t love her enough to live for her. He fucking needed Lelouch to mind control him to save himself. But he obviously loved her enough to throw away some of the ideals he was clinging to and become a more honest version of himself.

3. As for season 3, I think it goes back to some of my initial screaming points. Can peace between all people honestly last? How long will it take before someone or some group tries to amass power to themselves again? How long before we start tearing ourselves apart again, because we never seem to learn from history? Did Lelouch do anything to ensure lasting peace, to make all the lives he took worthwhile? (He better have, he was always scheming.) Does keeping Suzaku as Zero make a difference? What happens if people find out that Suzaku is Zero? Season 3 could address these issues.

If Lelouch is dead, it could show us what plans he had in mind to keep the peace going (like Lelouch still controlling things and playing people like chess from beyond the grave, I think that would be amazing). If he’s alive, he could come back and see what he did wrong and try to amend it, maybe with another mountain of bodies, lol.

His death was a great way to end the series– tyrant dies, world peace! But even if the series ends, the story, the world, keeps going. I’d be interested to know what happens in Lelouch’s new world, and I think the writers can pull it off and surprise us.

I don’t have the physical strength to type for that long, but meet me for tea IRL and I’d be happy to discuss it with you. ;P

How about a short monologue instead? 

Good vs. evil is obviously not often best-used as a black and white concept within a narrative. It’s tired, it’s boring, and for years now we’ve moved further away from it and toward what most people would call Sympathetic Villains, because most narratives have a “bad guy” for the “good guys” to fight, but it’s unrealistic to portray your villains as puppy-kicking douchebags who sing about being evil and wow the world with their bad breath. Writers have been pulling from their own life experiences to create asshole villains who feel a little more solid and real. 

It might...have gotten longer...than I anticipated...

Hans from Frozen is a pretty decent example. Look, straight-up the guy’s an asshole, but some of the traits we see him display aren’t inherently evil: he’s subtly selfish in Love Is an Open Door, isn’t he? You have to actually think about the words to see that Anna is singing about finding fulfillment in another person/companionship/etc and he’s singing about, um, getting what he wants. He’s charismatic and charming. He’s ambitious as hell. And while all of these traits are used for evil purpose, by themselves they aren’t bad things. Better yet, we find out he’s like 13th in line for the throne and basically A Nobody who has to make his own way in the world. Which, to us plebians, gets a big “boo hoo you poor fucking baby” but in his private personal world is Shitty. So in Frozen we’re given a villain who does evil things to prove his evilness to us, the viewer, but whose actions extend beyond “because I can” or worse, “because being evil is Fun.”

Some people try and take it a step further by making super extra duper sure we don’t forget the old and frankly tired phrase: “there are two sides to every story.” Well no fucking shit there are! But that doesn’t mean the other side is telling the truth. 

Writers like to capitalize on that, on unreliable narratives, because it’s, um, fun. But also because people in general aren’t completely reliable narrators of their own lives and experiences, so to an extent it feels good to tell things from the perspective of a character who skews the truth in their favor--or in the favor of a loved one.

Anyway Isayama, in writing SnK, obviously wanted us to see that there are always two sides to every story. This isn’t a new concept by any stretch of the imagination; it’s been done a million times already. But he tried to take it a step further but getting us into the heads of the “enemy” to see if they are the enemy or not, to see how the “enemy” thinks and how they become an enemy instead of something else to the main characters.

The problem is that if Isayama is going to claim that everything is relative, that has to extend through his entire narrative, not just through the Walled Eldians and the Eldians in Marley. Marley itself needs to be shown as more than evil firebreathing dragons abusing the poor Eldian people. Because everything is relative right?! Why are they being shitty? How can we believe the whole “Eldian people used to abuse their power and hurt Marley people” thing? And if that’s the case, why would you put that slap-bang right in the middle of a narrative chunk of stuff that reeks of WWII? The connotations are legitimately disgusting. What’s he trying to do, make it sound like the Eldians deserved it? Or what about the reverse, that the Jews deserved what happened to them because somehow they’d provoked it years and years earlier? 

I mean for fuck’s sake, if Isayama wants us to see that the good vs. evil debate is tired and old and “hey assholes have reasons for being assholes” then okay cool show us. But he really, REALLY should have thought through the connotations his story was going to bring with it when he punted it into the 1940s and gave his characters armbands with special stars on them I MEAN JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE HELL WAS HE THINKING? Like if it DOESN’T scream THE HOLOCAUST at you have you ever cracked a history book? Do you even know what goes on around you that doesn’t involve you?

And look. LOOK. I hate the tired evil vs. good bullshit because I want to know what makes the “bad guy” into the bad guy. Psychology is fucking amazing. Criminal psych is incredible. 

And I was fine with the narrative showing us that because hey, I don’t mind seeing what the other people are dealing with. But then they’re only evil because someone else is MAKING them evil and haha sURPRISE THAT person happens to be an entire country of Asshats!! Who have no overtly redeeming quality or current reason for oppressing the Eldian people! Yes, they’re afraid of them, we can infer that. But it’s never really shown; their actions are barely explained; the world isn’t built up to ANYTHING. 

And then here Isayama toddles in to tell us that he really isn’t asking if war is good or bad. Okay???????? Nobody asked you to answer that question because WE ALREADY KNOW that in general war is Bad. People die, the goals of war tend to be selfish, etc etc. If people break free of rule that’s called revolution not war. It’s the French Revolution for a reason, not the Stop Being Shitty War.

Anyway, I could discuss good vs. evil in literature/media forever, but nobody wants the dichotomy storytelling anymore. Nobody. And Isayama rolls in in the middle of a story that screams its themes until you’ve gone deaf and tells us, “it’s all relative man, like dude...relative. it’s all...relative...” Like something straight out of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. And it is, but only to a point. Like, sure, Marley is afraid of Eldia. But that relativity only lasted until, idk, they enslaved everyone who didn’t run away. And sure, the Eldians left behind are fighting for their own group of people but that’s only relative to a point, too--probably the point where they’re talking about slaughtering the entire island of Paradis just for their own gain.

And look, this isn’t knocking on the plot itself, though it kind of makes me feel Tired and Bitter. My issue is with Isayama stomping all over his own plot making sure to tell people in an interview that everything is relative when IT’S NOT when you’re talking about these big fucking things. What’s this relativism shit doing in here?? This isn’t Philosophy 101. Go home and think about what you just dumped on your story like a steaming hot shit. My god.

Yes, I've read Berserk and I can see why you compare those two, but Griffith is a manifestation of the word "ambition" to me, and Charioce gives me different vibes, like what he does he does out of something way more personal??? Idk how to explain this because we don't have enough info on him yet. I mean, Charioce is ambitious, yes, but I don't think he sees his task as his ultimate dream, unlike Griffith.

(2) And they are alike in the way that both will do whatever it takes to reach their goal but it seems like Charioce hasn’t lost his humanity completely yet, while Griffith is, like, beyond salvation. Btw, about Mugaro. I’ve rewatched last episodes and now I think - what if it was all planned in some way? I mean, the meeting of Azazel and Mugaro? Because if you think about it closely - isn’t it too convenient for them to meet that way? And it was Mugaro who chose to stick with Azazel.

(3) I mean, if it’s Jeannes’ child, her own flesh and blood or not, I don’t think she’d give her kid away that easily, and more so, voluntarily. I see some conspiracy here lol. I feel like Mugaro may have a certain plan in mind that we’ve yet to find out and it probably involves Michael. What do you think about it? Oh, and I’m sorry for this long message again. It’s just that I find SnB to be AOTS lol

Oh, I’m so glad you know Berserk! Makes things much easier. ;D And you’re right, Griffith absolutely is a different kind of character than Charioce, of course. Griffith is the “ambitious dreamer” archetype. Charioce is probably closer to Azazel actually than Griffith, ironically–I think he’s more of an avenging angel type, if I’m reading him right. Something deeply scarred him in his past and he’s taking out on the world (he’s basically closer to being a bitter nihilistic totalitarian than Griffith’s more standard “I want to remake the world in my image muahahah” idealism fufu.) My point in comparing them was more to demonstrate that it’s very easy to create a likable villain who is understandable, relatable, and even admirable in some ways, rather than to say they’re identical characters, if that makes sense lol. =)

Mugaro’s indeed the greatest wild card in this story, if I’m honest. I’m not sure what the deal is with him/her. I’m torn on Mugaro being a direct rebirth of Michael (like a phoenix, where when Michael dies, Michael is “reborn” from the ashes in a sense, with no incubation period required) and just raised by Jeanne/adopted by Jeanne or if Mugaro’s an immaculate conception of some kind. At this point, everything’s up in the air. It could also be a straight up lie that Jeanne told Charioce in order to protect Mugaro’s “true” origins, such as Mugaro being Micheal regressed to a child form because of losing so much power, etc. 

I’m not sure what I think about who’s pulling the strings with Mugaro (if anyone) or if chance/fate is at play. It’s quite possible that Jeanne had a plan for Mugaro that just backfires when Azazel crashes the party, and Mugaro takes the opportunity to escape. It’s also possible that this is all part of Mugaro’s plan and Jeanne’s just covering for him/her. What these plans are (and if there even is a plan of some sort) is anyone’s guess at this point. XD That’s why I haven’t strayed too far into speculation territory on this part of the story yet. We’re just missing too many of the pieces to the Mugaro side of the puzzle. We also don’t even know where Favaro fits in at this point, or Bahamut. Everyone could be working toward different end games, and only the later episodes will reveal who’s on whose side. 

I definitely think that no matter what the deal is with Mugaro, he/she has some goal in mind, and that involves Azazel and Nina in some capacity. Mugaro’s avoiding Sofiel even though arguably he/she shouldn’t be afraid of angels, and he’s/she’s also avoiding letting Azazel know the extent of his/her power. Nina’s so dumb it doesn’t matter. XD Mugaro’s playing a close hand here, and trust doesn’t seem to extend very far to anyone. Mysteries, mysteries. XD

Hopefully we’ll get more meat on the Mugaro side of the story soon, as well as some nuance to Charioce. =)

Yoosung - Hufflepuff 

he is fiercely loyal to those he cares about

he’s very kind and tolerant of people, and is more often and not the one who’s trying to keep the peace in arguments

he’s dedicated to the things he does (he spent 5 days getting armour on LOLOL if that’s not dedication idk what is)

he’s unafraid to express himself, no matter how it might appear to other people

he’s not scared to show his emotions because he doesn’t view them as weakness

he’s lacking direction in life, and often feels insignificant compared to those around him, but he still has a pretty positive attitude overall

Zen - Gryffindor 

he’s chivalrous and has a strong moral code which he sticks by

he often puts others first, and doesn’t usually think whether it’s at the expense of himself or not. he is going to stick by his morals no matter what

he’s determined to succeed, and is absolutely adamant that he will

he’s brave, and unashamed to stand up for what he believes in

he’s protective of those he cares about when they’re in any kind of trouble, and isn’t afraid to get involved in a situation if he feels things are unjustified

he’s very open with his emotions, and isn’t afraid to express how he feels in any given situation

he takes risks, like when he ran away from home to pursue his acting career

he sometimes rushes into situations recklessly without a real plan, which makes him look emotional and aggressive, but that’s because he’s more of a ‘take action now and think about it later’ kinda guy

Jaehee - Ravenclaw

she’s hard-working and intelligent, that one’s obvious

she’s very good at coming up with loopholes and ways to get around problems she might face

this also shows her creativity, because she can almost always come up with a solution to a problem

she’s usually very logical in any given situation, rarely letting her emotions get in the way of her decision making and her view on things

she’s accepting of pretty much everyone, but she’s not afraid to voice her distaste if something bothers her

she’s kind of scared to be individual, but with a little push in the right direction she can do it

she’s ambitious, and although she’s afraid to pursue her dreams at first, again, with the right kind of support she can

Jumin - Slytherin 

he’s very ambitious, and even though he’s already pretty much at the top, he works hard to maintain his reputation and his position (even if there’s no real danger of him losing the latter)

he’s resourceful and intelligent, and is good at coming up with solutions to problems

family is very important to him, but he’s not afraid to privately voice his distate whenever his father in particular does something he disapproves of

he’s sharp and logical, and almost never lets his emotions get in the way of his decisions

however, he is also fiercely loyal to those he trusts, such as V, and will go to any lengths to help him if needs be

he’s cunning, which is often seen as a negative trait, but with Jumin it’s helpful within his business, because it means he’s very good at getting deals through

he’s a determined person, and as soon as he decides he wants to do something he sticks to it

he’s big on self-preservation, very much every man for himself

this is also shown through his cat projects, which are purely for his own enjoyment

707 - Gryffindor 

he’s very brave and overwhelmingly loyal to those he cares about, even when they shun him

he’s willing to sacrafice everything for someone he cares about

everything he does is to try and protect other people, so whenever he’s pulling people close or pushing people away, he’s thinking about whether it’ll make them happier in the long run

unlike Zen, he’s not usually the ‘reckless’ kind of Gryffindor who will rush into a situation without a plan. occasionally he does, but he’s good at thinking on his feet and improvising when he needs to

he feels emotions very deeply, but is sometimes afraid to express them. he doesn’t realise it, but most decisions he makes are very emotion-driven

he’s very determined, and once he wants something he’s going to get it

he’s daring, and isn’t afraid of anything he might personally lose as long as it means he reaches his goal

he’s chivalrous and has a strong moral code which is why he beats himself up so much about the things he does for his job, and abandoning Saeran

Saeran - Ravenclaw

he didn’t have the best start in life, but he’s incredibly intelligent and hard-working anyway to try and reach the same standards as everyone else

he’s determined to impress people and reach the goas he’s set for himself

he’s very good at thinking on his feet and coming up with solutions in the heat of the moment, even when things go wrong and he starts panicking

he always has a plan, and never rushes into situations

he’s creative and good at coming up with ideas and elaborate plans, which are, more often than not, quite over-dramatic

he doesn’t trust very easily, but he’s not entirely opposed to letting people in as long as he feels safe around them

he tries to do things emotionlessly, but has trouble truly shutting out his emotions so he’s sometimes illogical and panics when things go wrong and get out of his control

he likes being original and individual, as shown by how determined he is to be different from Saeyoung and prove himself as his own person

a lot of people would probably place him in Slytherin, and I think I would have too initially, but once you know his background story I think he’s much more complex and I feel as though he fits Ravenclaw much better

V - Hufflepuff 

he is loyal as hell

he’s selfless, and is not only willing, but absolutely adamant he should take the burden and the blame for everything in order to save everyone else

he’s incredibly self-sacrificial, and that’s the main point that stops me from placing him in any other house

he’s hard working, and is constantly trying to help other peoplen at the expense of himself

he doesn’t care if his efforts go unnoticed, and he much prefers not to be placed on a pedestal due to his low self-esteem

his dedication means that once he decides he’s sticking by someone he is never going to abandon them

he’s incredibly patient, and is always trying to keep the peace whenever there’s an argument

he always gets involved in situations because he’s convinced he can work to diffusing it, even if that isn’t always the case

he blames himself for everything that goes badly, because of his loyalty and protectiveness, and beats himself up whenever something goes wrong, even if it wasn’t directly his fault

he’s also very creative and open-minded, never judging anyone for things they can’t control

Rika - Slytherin 

obviously she’s ambitious. she wants the world to be a better place and she thinks she is the only one who can achieve it

she’s skilled in manipulation, and can manipulate everyone around her in order to get her way and further her own ideals

she’s cunning, and many people don’t even realise what she’s trying to do

she’s determined she can do everything by herself

she’s big on self-preservation too, and is willing to sacrifice others to get what she wants and create the ‘perfect’ world she imagines

she meticulously plans out every tiny detail of things to the point where it’s impossible to tell where it really originated from

she’s incredibly smart and resourceful

Vanderwood - Slytherin

they are very smart, and see straight through everyone’s shit

they’re also big on self-preservation, and don’t care much for loyalties and friendships between individuals, only in regards to the bigger picture

they are hard working and determined to get things done, and get scared when anyone threatens to drag their name through the dirt

they’re ambitious in a less obvious way than both Jumin and Rika, in that they often stand on the sidelines and are willing to share the glory of others in order to avoid getting targeted

they kind of have to be cunning in order to be a secret agent, and they are incredibly resourceful, always making sure to salvage situations before they get out of hand

they rarely let their emotions get in the way of their work, and mock those who do
