except i think when he first designed his uniform was when he was younger and he wanted a cool coat like sephiroth’s but he didn’t want to go shirtless like sephiroth because i fully believe he had a farmers tan that he was embarrassed of!

and eventually when he decided he wanted to change his uniform he came out showing a lot more skin but as soon as lazard saw him he gave genesis the “you are not going anywhere looking like that young man!” because genesis was covered in hickeys and such, and i feel like soldier doesn’t allow public relationships so genesis had to stick with not showing skin

ok ok here me out and my three brain cells of being a Korean kpop listener:

shinra decided that world domination needed less of the military action and more of the idol worship route forming shinra entertainment:

Enter music producer hojo and lucrecia crescent, a genius ballad singer, who decide to make their baby the best singer in the world using completely ethical and safe means

(inject the baby with mako in hopes of the cetra working their angelic qualities into the dna)

bam bam enter sephiroth crescent, born with a voice so beautiful it can trick people into ignoring shinras war crimes. However babies unfortunately do not come with maxed out stats in dancing and performing leading to hojo plucking baby sephiroth and locking him into a long ass training period (fun! definitely won’t give the baby trauma!)

Timeskip about 9~10 years:

Congratulations miniroth! You have debuted as the first SOLDIER, a group/idol school that’s like nct where there will eventually be so many members you need a wiki page to know all their names! Sephiroth then goes to join a SOLDIER prototype band including glenn, lucia, matt, you know the drill. Those four become like day6 where they play live instruments along with just singing, with sephiroth quickly showing his massive talent. Glenn, lucia, and matt: “wtf that’s a child” however the four quickly get close with the trio teaching sephiroth how to interact with other people. Sephiroth and gang performs in rhadore with great results

headcanon performance: Glenn on piano, Lucia on violin, Matt on drums, seph vocal

Unfortunately, the quartet breaks up due to shinra war crimes in rhadore. Shinra quickly slaps a scandal on Glenn, Lucia, and Matt leading to the start of the infamous sephiroth curse within SOLDIER where anyone that becomes sephiroth’s bandmate usually ends up mysterious disappearing or involved in a scandal. Sephiroth continues as a solo singer, becoming the face of shinra and a famous artist across the planet. With a hint of mental issues of course.

(enter angeal and genesis to kick down his mental walls)

timeskip, sephiroth is about 16~17years old:

shinra assigns sephiroth and two new members to become a new group called first class, the highest level of SOLDIER. Enter angeal and genesis, two 20 year olds from banora with mako in their veins and obvious sephiroth fans. At first sephiroth is wary (he doesn’t want the two to get scandal blasted) but soon the three become fast friends. Sephiroth consider the two equal in his abilities , and the trio quickly become renowned for their good ass music.

Angeal—> soyeon Genesis—> winter Sephiroth—> Liz

Angeal—> Mina Genesis—> momo Sephiroth—> Sana

Zack joins as a frequent collaborator due to being the highest in second class SOLDIER and angeals apprentice about 2~3 years later:

Angeal—> wheein Genesis—> hwasa. Sephiroth—> solar Zack—> moonbyul

Ahh, it’s been like two months and I’m over halfway through the next ten, and I still haven’t finished ranking these ten games. Adding Let’s Playing to the mix has certainly confused the pace of the Bag of Games process, but I still want to keep up with it!

1. The Case of the Golden Idol - I played the DLC yesterday and that’s really what made me realize oh crap I need to do this ranking. This is the good shit right here, a fun story told through a series of bite-sized logic puzzles. Absolutely one of the best detective games I’ve ever played, right up there with Paradise Killer.

2. Pentiment - This game is a beautiful tapestry, totally devoted to its artistry, its historic faithfulness, its rich world, its intriguing mystery, its roleplaying potential and its interesting social mechanics. I’m very much a person who just enjoys choosing dialogue options for the sake of choosing them and doesn’t really care if they actually make an impact, but when they do make a tangible impact? That’s the icing on the cake.

3. Citizen Sleeper - We’re still up in S-tier, baby! Such a unique and incredibly written take on the RPG. I love games where I have to make tough decisions!

4. The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow - My brother played this one too. I was just talking about it with him and the ending was, let’s say, controversial between the two of us. I liked it fine. As my first ever completed Let’s Play, I can imagine this game will remain special to me for a long time.

5. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion - Silly and delightful and very upsetting. This is literally the only piece of media that should be allowed to incorporate COVID into its story for the next, like, twenty years.

6. JUMPGRID - A cool little rhythm-action-arcadey thing? It never had a chance at the top half of the list with the five superb games already mentioned, but it’s still blood-pumping fun.

7. Genesis Noir - It dragged on a little longer than I would have liked, to the point where I actually got a little tired of pointing and clicking, can you even imagine? But ooh, this game is still brimming with style and interesting ideas.

8. Memoir En Code: Reissue - I am forever an advocate for game developers making weird little personal projects like this! I probably won’t go out of my way to play them but! If you put them in a big itch.io bundle! I will absolutely play your short autobiographical games and have a hoot of a time!

9. Epiphany City - I don’t mind that this is a game more oriented towards kids. A lot of the puzzles were fun and creative despite being simple! But the graphics were ugly, the controls were clunky, and the story was cheesy and dumb, and I don’t think family-friendliness excuses any of that.

10. Verdant Skies - Definitely one of those instances where this could be a fantastic entry into a genre for all that I know, but I do not enjoy that genre so it doesn’t really matter.
