Ummmm anyway the whole story kinda centers on Gustav idrk why just worked out that way. Ummm all my gender + sexuality hcs r still mostky the same I think. Hiccup got into a sick and cool and based collage with mostly everybody else probably too but like Tuff kinda flunks out eventually and maybe Snot too (they were roommates) (bisexually, yes). Ruff drops out, she maybe could’ve kept going but she’s doing soooo bad mentally chat . It’s not good <3 I love when. One twin’s life gets better and the other’s plummets but they’re so “package deal” brained that the idea of them becoming distant in any way is really fucking with both of them. But basickahlee Tuff n Snotlout start unofficially dating but it’s like weird and secret bc Snotlout is like still working things out in his brain and stuff and also Tuffnut is scared of his sister finding out in case she tries to push a “well share him!” thing that she’s done before. Her polyamorous swag vs his scared-of-her virgin aura! Astrid and Hiccup r dating fucking obviously but also they’re learning that actually you do need to like work on a relationship to maintain it, both of them are very busy ppl so like . “You never have time for me when I miss you” thing happening both ways but aLSOO Astrid is sooo bad at talking abt it. This is an unrelated fact but Snotlout has a knife collection and sews a lot of patches. Uhhh um uhh fishlegs is like . Idk I think he’s aroace but I’m flexible with it I think maybe he’s also kinda cupio wif if. I think at some point Ruffnut decides to make a bad decision and get with him but it’s ok she accidentally falls in love with him (BAD. DOOM DIMENSION. WATCH THIS BPD SPIRAL SOOOO HARD) but guysss it’s ok he’s super niceys and patient and direct and I think that eventually they would have a really based and epic qpr.. but also sometimes it drives Ruff bonkers bc it looks normal to outsiders and she’s scared of looking like a tied down wifey so she gets Extra Weird (and perhaps freakkkyy) (sexual) with him in public . Or just goes off and does something unhealthy or impulsive and comes back like “ok I’m normal now” I LOVE HER. Grips the armrests of my chair. I love her..

Anyway dagur exists and his story is p much the same. Heather also real, she and Astrid dated for a short while just before collage then Heather straight up went missing n messy breakup and all that blah blah blah. She’s fine tho guys don’t worry (<- plotting evily) um and alsooo Gustav real! He would be in highschool but he doesn’t ever go in and his family doesn’t rllyyy care, he lingers around Snotlout (and subsequently tuffnut) or dagur most of the time. Astrid tries to be a mother figure to him, it doesn’t work, he’s scared of her. He kind of subconsciously sees Ruff as a mother figure? Bc she ignores and neglects him, sometimes she’s mean to him, reminds him of his real family. I think ruff hates him bc he reminds her a lot of her when she was younger (tramgender) and also bc he clearly wants her attention in a “you’re like my mom” way (although again it’s subconscious for him) and she hatesssss thatttt.

Also Gus (pronounced Goose) is probably trans in some way but he doesn’t have that figured out yet so neither do I rlly, so dont worry abt it just yet ok bye

OKAY SO LONG YAP INCOMINNG OH MY GOD. wanna start with sorry! I'm kinda new to actually using Tumblr so Idrk where to put this OR if there was a better option but I really liked your post about cdream (and to and extent cwilbur) I really really liked how you point out that everyone made his character bc IT SO TRUE his character would be so BLAND (so fucking bland) without them bc GUESS WHAT? his ass is BLAND personality wise. I was a fan since the big 2020 bc my friend group were hot into DNF, tbh I did like dream at the time bc the Jackbox streams but I was a disappointed at his dsmp character bc I thought it would be...idk so much more? for the longest time I thought I liked him but I guess that was just part of the territory at the time, it was the DREAM smp after all, but instead throughout the years I ended up relating his character more to a malignant shadow for the server members, like he just haunts people, follows, stalks them, and is evil!!! It's an interesting prospect sure but its a disservice to him BECAUSE he needs someone to shape his villainy. I like how you put that he works as a villain because there are heros to fight against, he is fr the perfect foil!!! (tho I think that was accidental greatness) and the very little we saw of his perspective and the little of what we knew abt him really added to that spookiness and darkness of the story bc he felt like a real threat sometimes. During my time in the fandom from then (2020) into this day (possibly more??) I find it interesting how there was so little content to actually work off from his character that most artists and authors ended up painting his character like he was a blank canvas. (or shaping him like he was clay HAHA pun haha so funny) they got away with it bc there was no real and solid character traits to truly combat that things--I also think this is why his character was so beloved by those who liked him at the time ( bc he could be what you wanted) there were many times I believed that the fanfic authors were just better at writing him than the og ccs but what was there to compare to? (sidebr: The illusion really ended in 2022 when he was nothing like the collective imagination, ESPECIALLY IN PERSONALITY ESPECIALLY NOW, but I think that's a thing lots of the long time fans relate to and I guess I kinda deserved that as I was believing a dream hahaha pun haha so funny) Anyways, I really want (wanted?) to make this analysis work of him especially because the way the cc actually acts falls so much into what cdream solidly was (same with cwilbur but minus the "no-character, no shape" argument) It would cover my theories of him being the shadow for the other dsmp characters, the canvas for the fans, what is there in him really and what that meant for cdream overall minus all the rosy lens while being kinda metaaaa idk. I also wanted to do the same insane deepdive for wilbur's character and his overlap bc ITS SO INTRESTING. but now I feel doing this would be in very poor taste and kinda oddball of me (and when is it not in poor taste bc theres always drama??? its never my time fr) and that sucks because I'm still so down bad for this fandom its not fucking funny like I still want to make art for it, theorize, talk and trade ideas with ppl and do all these studies still and I don't know what's really wrong with me for still loving all the characters OH SO MUCH still while HATING majority of the ccs for these 5 years. I wasn't in it for the people after the big 2021 (as I kinda lost interest or didn't support) but the compelling lore and the AMAZING fan content. firstly, welcome to tumblr! i think most people are fine with people adding discussion in inbox or when reblogging a post. i'm glad u liked my post :)

I was never a Dream fan, but i really expected more from his character as well. I WANTED more of his character. By himself, c!Dream is a walking plot device meant to Cause Conflict, which is a shame because the little that was set up was so interesting. Puffy at one point had a one-off line about being his mom (or maternal figure) if i remember correctly, which you could do SO MUCH with on that alone (though, I don't remember if that was just a joke or de-canoned. either way, it would be a VERY interesting dynamic)

The implications of him being trapped in the prison on purpose is very interesting, but that never got payed off. We know that he worked with c!Punz and c!Ranboo on some things, and with c!Dream being an Isolated Villain who is a Control Freak, that has SOOO much great potential. "Does he genuinely trust them? Does he want to trust them? Why do they agree to work with him?" are all interesting questions that... also got unanswered. but with these things (and the connections to Dream XD + Techno), you get the really great fan-interpretations of c!Dream that are really interesting and fun! that make him more of his own character with more nuanced motivations!

(this is coming from someone who wanted to put endersmile duo under a microscope. so i might a bit biased. but god. GODDDDD WHAT WAS THEIR RELATIONSHIPP)

With what we know was going behind the scenes, i dont think you can (or Should) try to "death of the author" the dsmp. but that doesn't mean you should feel wrong for still enjoying the characters. there are still a lot of people who love the dsmp while not supporting the creators in anyway, shape or form. There's still lovely fanart (and i assume fanfic) being made of it.

honestly, i think about the lore and world very often. it's a really good example of something that can only exist in minecraft. it's a good showcase of everyone's ability to improvise and collaborate (or the opposite, in some cases). it's one of those things that make me think "gosh, if I could change this one thing..." over and over. i am eternally haunted by the potential of Limbo and how it was SO close to being the coolest thing ever.

OKAY so like basically my friends introduced me to this guy, (we’ll call him batman) n at that time he had a gf, (we’ll call her yellow larva cause shes built like that thing) n i found him really handsome but i didn’t develop feelings cause he had a gf and they seemed pretty happy and all that, but then my friends added me to a gc with yellow larva and batman where we would game hsr, wuwa and genshin and it was pretty fun for a few weeks before yellow larva literally started talking bs about me 💀

so we haven’t really talked about it ever since but i never interacted with that gc ever again. like i dropped contact with my friends who sided with her n stuff, then i went to her dms and asked her why she did it and she said that it was because i made her feel left out (ERM WHAT THR SIGMA), but i always tried talking to her and tried to help her with her nilou build (cause she keeps yapping about how it sucks) but she js kept ignoring me and being dry 🙏🙏

so like a week passed and i forgot about batman cause i tried not to make a big deal about it cause i was focusing on studies, then i decided to take a break and opened my genshin, and batman suddenly joined, n i lwky kind of hated him cause he didn’t do anything about it even though he knew that yellow larva was wrong and i didn’t do anything, so i chatted ‘wdyn?’ in the chat box thingy idrk what u call it, n he js started apologizing n stuff so i was really shocked n my face was like 😧 (i heard yellow larva has a new fg now with the people she used to hate according to batman)

it turns out he broke up with her and now shes saying that i forced him to (goodbye i did NOT) and me + batman started talking and he asked me to be his gf 4 days ago so now we’re matching as wrio and navia on genshin :3

4:51am woke up and started ruminating on the past. Oops! Also I keep getting hot and sweaty with my sweatshirt on but it's comforting and I don't want to take it off. 9:07pm I've been neglecting to clean the bathroom for a hella long time bc every time I thought about it, it was super overwhelming and there was a mold puddle behind the toilet from my crappy shower curtain that won't close, but I did it today and I just love days like this. And I went grocery shopping and I just love when life feels so much better than it did previously.

firstly yall give him too much credit im SORRYYY. i dont think william was the reason he bullied evan. i dont think his friends were the reason he bullied evan. i think he was a bored teenager who was annoyed/amused by his little brother's sensitivity and decided hey lets make fun of him why? cuz its funny. he has 0 emotional intelligence and is insensitive because its not him whos being treated badly. like. think about it this way. he is also being treated like shit/ignored by william. so obviously, mental health issues ensue. so he needs to find a few things: attention, entertainment, and a distraction.

actually kids who are neglected act out a lot, and this could be a form of michael acting out.

entertainment is obvious. he finds it funny. he does it excessively, yeah, but thats because he doesnt have a lot of it. he has friends who find it funny to, so hes gonna be like "yo lets do this" because its something his friends can get behind. again, attention.

finally, distraction is obvious and basically the same as entertainment.

the worst part of all this is that thru finding a way of coping with his issues, he takes away any coping evan has. he cant hang out at fredbears cuz hes scared, he cant go home because hes scared. he gets locked in his room, and he cant make friends because hes just the crybaby who hides under the tables.

but this isnt about evan if i talk about him ill get sad.

teen mike would not immediately switch up if evan didnt die. if he understood what could have happened/the severity/maybe even had some sense knocked into him, then hed reevaluate, but hes not suddenly the best brother in the world.

he would not cook for his siblings. he would not clean the house. that boy takes hte trash out at the end of the day and that is IT. if william doesnt cook, nobody will. and i assume that he does because as awful as he is, hes not tryna get arrested. HE HAS KIDS TO MURDER PEOPLE!!!!

For Matoba having once been amicable to yokai, that's a theory, yes, but really just a theory. I can see how it would work narratively, but as of now it hasn't been concerned. Regardless, part of me saying he thinks they need to be separate was to set up what I said next, that he is actually hoping he is wrong and that they can live together in harmony.

And to say Natori doesn't know the "dark side" of yokai is just a biiiit of a stretch. He is an exorcist like any other and while certainly not being hunted, he's not sheltered either. He's been in the thick of it. As well for Natsume, his entire life has been yokai-induced bigoted-lead torture. That's kind of the whole point; he has every right to hate yokai, and in some ways does. He's been hunted, chased, and terrified. What's great about Natsume is that he is able to go case by case, to understand that like people, yokai can come in all flavors. Natori and Matoba understand that to some extent (and I can't even speak on Natori rn bc I only meant this to be a matonatsu ship post lol) they're unable or perhaps ignorant of how to implement that in their lives. Maybe they feel they're too far gone-

but isn't Natsume Yuujinchou the manga that's all about healing, learning, growing, third fourth and fifth chances?

While I can see that negotiating with yokai is likely very difficult based on his name alone, matoba has also shown a lot of outright murderous intent to yokai, such as in his first appearance, so I imagine his feelings around them are definitely still complicated. And I'll say this, Natsume's methods aren't the norm among ppl like him. Matoba can do his job the only way he's been taught how to, and still reach out to a yokai kitty in hopes it will come back to him also. That's why I say all of this in the first place- he wants to change! He wants to see a better world! He wants harmony and companionship in a world that really, only himself and Natsume understand.

And yes, natori natori but this isn't about natori, it's my thought post about Matoba! And Matoba does very much seek Natsume out. Perhaps not directly as in he gets up one day and says "I'll go visit natsume" but regardless, whenever fate does push them together, Matoba still seeks Natsume out and yes, talks to him. He's very comfortable in exorcist communities as well as working alone, whereas Natsumes only ties to the world are yes, Natori, but also Matoba! Matoba would be well within his right to just keep an eye on natsume and do nothing more, or actively be his malicious enemy, but their scenes together always feel playful, at least on Matoba's part.

Scary for Natsume of course, but Matoba really seems to just like messing with him! So essentially by "seek out" I meant "initiates interaction". Narratively, a lot of Matoba's potential actions that ignore or otherwise dont prioritize natsume could make sense, but Midorikawa chooses to portray a Matoba that wants, very much so, to be around Natsume.

We can't forget that he's also a very busy clan head with lots of eyes on him. Seeking out Natsume in your interpretation may not always be possible or safe!

And when I say "protects natsume and his way of life" I mean that literally lol. Matoba has taken a lot of mercy on Natsume, a lot of gentleness with him, a lot of forgiveness, and has protected Natsume from *physical* harm many times, as in keeping him from dying or being otherwise maimed. That doesn't extent to Nyanko sensei ofc lol, but thats another piece of the puzzle in my view.

Matoba wants Natsume to succeed in his way, yes, but he also wants Natsume by his side almost desperately, enough to bring it up frequently at least. He wants someone who understands him. He went thru the trouble of kidnapping him to have that lol!! They see the same world, they've likely had similar enough experiences, they see the same patterned kimono.

Their worlds are one; Matoba wants to learn how to live in Natsumes, and Natsume needs to learn from Matoba if he's going to survive in both worlds at once. And while I don't think at this point Matoba has any intention of hurting Natsume, he may do so unintentionally, if he thinks it's for Natsume' good. I agree, that's what makes him so good!

I feel like there's something to be said about how Matoba has grown his hair out to make better details with yokai, extending his physical form for their sake, and how he doesn't exercise, though it is well within his ability to do so, the yokai that is after his eye. And how he still fails to connect with yokai, how they fear and run from him, but also how he doesn't really know HOW to connect with them. He doesn't know how to treat them, he feels they are lesser than human, that one and the other must be separate, and yet his powers and the will of the yokai do not lend to that at all.

Maybe that's why he seeks out Natsume and yet let's him go from danger time and time again, why he is the biggest threat to Natsume and his way of life, but perhaps the biggest protector also. Matoba doesn't approve, but he regardless protects Natsume physically like in the recent chapter at the kiln and at the bus stop. Maybe he wants to see Natsume safe and happy, maybe he wants to constantly be around Natsume, because Natsume is living the life he wants to. A life of power, and yet gentleness and companionship with BOTH yokai and humans. A life with a foot in both worlds.

He wants to live like Natsume, and he's chasing him around because he wants to see if this ideal life is possible.

I stg I barely caught myself from just walking over and kissing them while they were saying something ridiculous after the shop was closed. Oh fuck oh fuck. THis is bad. They’re married and have kids and they seem like a good person but sometimes…I definitely think they’ve flirted w me before. And I seem to be a favourite for no apparent reason. They talk about their spouse and their personal life all the time to me (esp their spouse), but I’ve only ever heard them mention their spouse like twice to other workers. And they compare me to their spouse all the time. Always saying I sound just like them or I do this or that just like them. ANd I would definitely go for it if it was an option which prob makes me a horrible person, but that’s okay I already knew that. 

Idk how they manage to be both “ur really hot” and “ur the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” It’s maddening. And they’re so fucking funny and that’s my weakness and they’re always trying to make me laugh. idek how old they are. in their twenties im 96% certain. Im horrid at guessing age. there’s def at the v least 5 yrs b/t us. but idrk. I don’t even hypothetically want anything serious. Seriously tho on the seeming interested in me and showing favouritism front, they are…so protective of me. Like they are Never like this with the other employees, and it’s definitely not like I can’t defend myself. The most marked example would be the guy who runs the bodega across the street.

He came in one day, screaming about how my manager had accused his son of stealing. So they were like, I’m not sure what you’re talking about but I’m sorry if there was some sort of miscommunication. And he just kept screaming at them and calling them a little bitch and a f*ggot repeatedly, and threatening to bash their fucking head in. And they were just taking it all very calmly and professionally and saying ‘I don’t recall this happening, I’m sorry if you heard differently’ even though he was physically pushing them and still threatening them and calling them all sorts of things. Then he finally left, but not twenty minutes later he came back, just as angry, shouting the same stuff and hurling around slurs and threats and pushing my manager around. Again, they kept very calm and responded reasonably and evenly the same stuff they had before.

Again he eventually left. But then he decided he had apparently still not had enough so he came back a third time. Just as angry as before, just as hostile and antagonising. The assistant manager on duty had come up front the last time to see what was happening, but had not intervened. However this time she tried to help, also calmly saying the same things as the manager. She had been working the day before and seen the guy’s kid come in and nothing like that had happened, so he started calling her a lying fucking bitch and saying he was gonna kill both of them, and kept more and more violently shoving my manager, which they continued to just calmly take.

Eventually the guy was just was repeatedly calling them a f*ggot again and again and again. And I, also calmly, asked if he could just please stop saying that word and he fucking rounded on me and started really laying in calling me a little bitch and all sorts of things, which I didn’t react to at all, because I have an excellent poker face. But I have Never seen my manager angry at all. Not even a little bit. But they were fucking furious, and they shoved him roughly back to the door (mind you he’s a big fuckin guy) And got right up in his face and fucking snarled Get The FUCK Out Of My Store (I did Not know actual snarling words was a thing, I thought it was just smth writers said to make the angry words more emphatic, but it is a Thing™) and shoved him straight through the door. And then they just took a deep breath and turned back around calmly as ever and was like ‘sorry about that’ to the other customers and started rearranging the counter like usual.

And that whole situation has come up twice since then when we were talking (it was months ago), and both times they were like yeah it was whatever, but when he started yelling at You I fucking snapped. And I’m like. Yeahhh how do I take this. Because I am not defenseless and I don’t look like it and I’m not tiny or fragile looking, we have several other employees more likely to feel the impulse to protect but,,,they never do? It never even seems to occur to them?

Just the other day I had a lady come in who was clearly spoiling for a fight. Rude and aggressive as fuck, but I treated her calmly and professionally bc that’s what I do, but she just kept saying dumb shit, so I kept responding, not in any offensive or upset way, just repeating the facts in a calm manner. She really started yelling and was like 'I don’t like ur fuckin attitude you keep talking back you’re getting all smart with me.’ And I (again. Very calmly.) Explained that I was simply answering the questions she asked. And she was like Where’s your fuckin manager bc you’re being rude as fuck you just keep talking back.

So my manager was at the register next to(?) mine(the counter is like an L shape and has registersat either side of the corner). And they turned around and said 'I don’t hear anything unprofessional or rude’ but she kept yelling over them and talking about how rude I was, so they kept saying I wasn’t doing anything wrong, so they were like 'Okay you can go now. Please leave the store’ and gave her the corporate number when she asked for it angrily, saying she was gonna complain about us (like so??? Fine. Here’s my name and the store # idgaf).

After she left and we took care of the couple of customers left they turned to me and were like 'wow she was really spoiling for a fight.’ And I was 'yeah I mean I saw it when she came in and was super aggressive right off the bat. She was so angry for no reason. Like…chill lol’ and they gave me a sort of look and were like 'I don’t know how you deal with that (((which, mind you, every employee, and Definitely them, deals w shit like that without going off))) I feel like it bothers me a lot more when they get like that to you, than it actually bothers you’. I just shrugged, but again……they dont,,,,do that for other employees. They always stick their neck out for me or get angry (I mean as close as they get to angry, excepting the thing w the bodega owner) on my behalf. It’s…what am I supposed to make of that?

Literally if they’re around and a customer tells me to lighten up or smile or smth (bc my face is just really unexpressive unless I put a lot of effort in) they’ll just smoothly come over and be like 'I’ve got the smile for ya’ or if someone is being aggressive or harrasing about it, they won’t even pretend to be cheerful and nice, they’ll just be like 'My employees don’t get paid to smile.’ Which,,,I’m not the only one who never smiles. Actually it’s just my manager and one of the assistant managers that always smile. The rest of us are p brusque and more obviously dead inside and dislike interacting with people. But again, they’ve never done that or said anything for another employee (that I know of, obv I’m not always around, but I’m around enough to feel like I practically live there).

And just. Bloody hell, they will talk about aggressive customers and tell me the customer got in their face and will be like 'seriously, like this’ and move their face so we’re barely not touching. Like. ???!?!?!????? And they get real close to me and brush by me a lot. Mind you, they do not do this to other employees (esp the face thing), but they’ll like lean over my shoulder to look at my paperwork or make fun of me (not like in a mean way just something stupid) or they’ll come over to put their numbers in (bc we need higher clearance on the computers for like,,,almost everything it’s so stupid) and they’ll like get right up next to me or squeeze in front of me. Which again, they do not do to others, and no other employee does that to me or anyone else.

If this was a book ppl would be pissed about the slow burn like Okay Why Aren’t Things Happening Already??! But unfortunately real life and an actual human being is more complicated than that. And I don’t know what to do with it.
