Something that I've been meaning to say about Miraculous's "Rich Girls".............

Before I even go into this, All you Lila, Chloe, and Kagami stans out there I suggest to skip this post, leave disgusting comments and I'll block and report you because I'm saying it now, that I will be saying some things about Lila, Chloe, and Kagami that aren't really pretty. If you like their characters "Yay!" good for you,

So........something has been on my mind lately and I would like to get it off my chest because it's just been stuck in my head and I think it's good if I do make some clear points that clearly people are missing in regards to the show's "rich girls". So Marinette.....has been going through alot this past season and people are saying stupid things like "Oh wE NEeD a NEw LAdyBUg!"

Or "oH MArINeTtE iS teRRiBlE At dOiNg heR jOB!"

Let's dive right into this

I'll start with Chloe first. Chloe bullied Marinette. She has for 7 whole fucking years. Marinette has done nothing to Chloe literally. She hasn't bullied her, talked about her, criticized her, she has done nothing to that girl. But oh! Chloe is some rich snobbish brat that thinks everyone below her should be treated less of a human than she is. Where was her mom when Chlow started to go to school with Marinette? Also Chloe's mom not playing a big part of her life doesn't excuse her terrible behavior and awful treatment she has given marinette and students at her school. Just because her mom is a total snob and shallow person doesn't mean Chloe has to be exactly like her. It's okay for Chloe to express sadness and frustration but what's not okay if for Chloe to lash out all her negativity on Marinette as if Marinette has done something to her. Her parents have really failed her and she has failed herself. She's so full of herself that I'm starting to believe she's delusional. Clinging onto Adrien 24/7 at school like their some type of couple is already mouth-gagging. Like girl, he is not some toy that is all yours and that you can just cling yourself onto. I'm glad Marinette calls her out on her bullshit and handles Chloe's ass and she's not afraid to do so.

And that tacky ass makeup really defeats the purpose because it's makes her look worser than her personality. Tired of these blonde stuck up popular rich girls that think they can just overrule people.

Treating everybody around her like her peasants is clichè mean girl shit. I'm willing to go as far as to say she's a fucking narcissist. Having excessive interest and admiration for herself and treating everybody around her like shit as if she's 10 times more important than they are when in reality she's nothing but a spoiled brat that's jealous because she knows Marinette is better than her.

2nd to last....Lila

Literally 'lie' is in her name. She lies her mouth off and thinks she's fooling every fucking body. Marinette knows damn well she's lying and tells her up to her face in Chameleon. I'm sorry but her lies are ridiculous and the class is so undeniably stupid for believing her bullshit. Yea she's another "spoiled rich girl" her mom is present in her life but we know nothing about her dad. Don't know what happened to him and I don't care to know what happened to him. I know one thing though. Just like in Chloe's case, her dad being absent doesn't make it "okay" for her to be a two-faced person who can pathologically lie to people for personal gain. That's disgusting and weak of a person. She literally frames Marinette and corners her in the bathroom to a wall and pushed herself down the steps to look like she's actually injured. Her fans can try to shed all the light they want on her character but that's never gonna erase all the terrible shit she's done. And once again! Marinette has done nothing to Lila and somehow Marinette is Lila's main target. She lied about her friendship with Ladybug just to impress a boy. Her negativity she's trying to pass onto Marinette isn't working because Marinette is strong and optimistic. I can't believe she had fans, cough looks like a knock-off version of Dora cough. She's so stupid she really thinks Adrien wants to be with someone like her. A liar and manipulative bitch. lol

Yea I already know how long she's been in the show but that doesn't mean that I'm going to get her the benefit of the doubt. First time she met Marinette she treated her terribly as if Marinette did anything to her. Then again, people like to claim she's from a strict household so that gives her an excuse when it really doesn't. Secondly Kagami in general seems phony, Marinette is trying to be her friend and give up on Adrien just for her!!! and so she can grow as a person!!!!! Kagami chose Adrien over Marinette while Marinette gave up Adrien just so Kagami can have him. Seems like the only reason Kagami really wants to be friends with Marinette is because of Adrien. But let's not get into that.... In Animeastro she acted like she had a problem Marinette was talking to Adrien. I just don't get her at all. One minute she wants to be Marinette's friend (which I believe is completely fake) and then the next she's glaring daggers at her as if she did anything to her.

I don't even want to fucking hear "Oh but Jenny, Marinette didn't confes- SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. Marinette has tried time after time to confess she's always getting interrupted. Kagami thinks of Adrien like some prize to win all for herself after only knowing him for not too long. Give me a break then she's the one who got akumatized over a fucking picture instead of asking Adrien "hey, what's this?" She got salty and got akumatized. In Frozer, Adrien told her that he had feelings for someone else, she jumped to conclusions and thought it was fucking Marinette and suggested him to "switch targets" he told her he wouldn't and she still pushes him to literally kissing him and then getting mad because he rejected it. Girl! Did he not fucking say that he has feelings for another girl and he won't be switching targets. She's really that desperate that she's telling Adrien to get over that other girl, and she's so fucking desperate she tried to kiss him then got mad when he didn't kiss her back. Let's not forget she literally cut out the fencing class picture and left Adrien and herself out. Then she gave us a little "insight" on how she views Adrien in Oni-Chan. "Image of Perfection" she likes Adrien because he's perfect? That's funny. Because for 1, he's not nobody is and for 2 that's a stupid reason to like somebody. Let's not also forget when she literally lied in Miracle Queen about the villain attacking people in love. She knows Adrien likes somebody else so why is she trying so hard to push into being with her? Desperate much? "We're so alike" and Kagami really believes their soulmates? She should just shut the fuck up. She sounds stupid as fuck. How are you "soulmates" with someone you just met not too long ago. Bless her delusional soul. After he rejected her kiss and only knowing him for 2 seasons. Liiiiike......are you that desperate for a boy. I can't wait to see her reaction to when Adrien dates Marinette. Lmao

It's so funny how all these girls think Adrien's theirs when in reality Marinette is his true soulmate and is gonna end up with him in the end. Adrienette is literally endgame. There's no need for people like Chloe, Lila, and Kagami to get on the way of that. It's also funny how people like to claim Marinette as the possessive one when all these rich spoiled brats have gotten akumatized over him, cling onto him like he's some coat rack, and go out their way to make Marinette feel terrible. And marinette has given Adrien up. The only real clear reason I can see the 3 of them act bitchy towards marinette without a reason would be because they're jealous and don't have the best lives at home and wish to be like marinette.

If I'm not mistaken who's the one that got bullied for 7 years straight and tries her very best to be strong? Who's the one that literally got sexually harassed by Felix? Who's the one who has anxiety? Who's the one who has pressure and responsibilities hunched all over their shoulders? Who's the one that has go around every fucking day to save their city? Oh okay. Everybody always wants to talk about how tough they are without actually going through some real shit. Because I don't recall Lila, Chloe or Kagami going through any of these things while treating Marinette like shit. Kagami is the one that lied to Adrien, Kagami is the one that treated Marinette like crap, Kagami is the one that pushed Adrien after he said he had feelings for someone else /this b*tch didn't even wait/, Kagami is the one that is acting like Lila and Chloe. Let Marinette act like how Kagami did, I'm pretty sure she would've got bashed.

Once they go through all that bullshit then we can chit chat until then, they don't know what struggle is. Spoiled ass brats who clearly don't deserve Adrien because they're immature. They think Adrien's "theirs" they pushed themselves on him as if they can't live without him and they do sneaky shit in order to be with him. Lila and Kagami have clearly showed they would lie to get with him and Chloe does too. Marinette has the courage to let Adrien go, I'm pretty sure if the shoe was on the other foot Kagami would never let Adrien go.

And before people go around saying how it's their parents fault they act do toxically and immature (bc ppl like to give them excuses for their "mommy and daddy" issues) it's really not. Yes, it's partially their parents because they raised them but they also have a big role for their actions. No body is responsible for making Chloe, Lila, or Kagami a better person. No body. Stop putting the blame all on their parents because it's not just the parents I'm pretty sure Tomoe didn't teach Kagami to "lie" in order to get with a boy. Kagami chose to lie to Adrien in Miracle Queen with her own free will. Nobody said "lie to Adrien" Kagami lied that's her fault Nobody told Chloe to bully and belittle Marinette, Audrey is very shallow and brat-like but I don't recall her ever saying "Chloe bully Marinette" Nobody told Lila to constantly lie and manipulate people hell, her mom doesn't even know she's doing it! None of their parents are responsible for certain shit they do so stop pretending like their innocent kids that have horrible parents. I don't have time to analyze if Kagami is like Chloe and Lila or not because I know she is like them she acts just like them. Treats marinette like crap but acts different when Adrien's around. Simple. I tried to give her character a chance in Oni-Chan but after hearing how she views Adrien and how she acted in Miracle Queen I hated her even more than I did before.

Truth be told, Chloe, Lila, nor Kagami are nothing without Adrien. If we're really gonna go there. Their just some pointless characters that want to get in the way of things and can't stay in their places. Marinette made this show, she's the center of the plot, without her their is no Chloe, without her there is no Lila, without her there is no Kagami.

Call me absent-minded but I see alot of jealous hoes and I'm not with that shit at all. Sorry not sorry

okay um sjdghs yeah thank you for not being mean or thinking I was mean cause I really wasn't! I do really like your blog (we are mutuals and I *think* you know me by name) but zjdgsh jack still isn't Cas coded for me, tbh. He might LOOK like Cas but sjdgsh his literally story was based on his powers othering him (sam), killing his mother (sam) and eventually being manipulated into doing something bad by accident and no bad intentions (sam). he is also infused with very obvious daddy issues (the sam kind more than the Cas kind) and if you thjnk about it I prommy there's not a lot of similarities between his and cas's personalities (except for that they're both wonderful and I love them but that's beside the topic) like Cas plotlines usually go like: huge sacrifices for love, hugely misguided attempts to make everything right, loss of powers leaving him abandoned. while sam (and jack) plot lines are the opposite because it's the ABUNDANCE of power that leaves them abandoned (by Dean, cough, cough) and while cas's powers are seen as desirable throughout the show (when they ARE seen, of course :/) sams were evil and Jack's were evil and they were supposed to be thought of as evil (by us, the narrative and dean) for using them ! So...yeah? also sjdgshs I hear you on the Dean not being a John girl just because he wanted his affirmation so bad and would do anything he said for it — but the jack Dean situation is not exactly the same because the moments that they use to show us that jack loves Dean aren't ones where dean has any expectations from him to be/do good per se???? it's things like fishing and being a dork on a case and they "make jack the happiest he's been" so...? (Plus I DO believe that jack really wanted Dean's approval and Dean to think of him as good, and family but it just...isn't in the same way as John. Dean WAS a dick to jack and it might johncode him but Jack's behavior doesn't s1-dean code him 🥺) so im gonna stick with jack being a samcoded deangirl who looks a lot like Cas actually ajdgshs (also yeah Dean is both a samgirl and a casgirl, he has the range, although you saying he HAS to be a samgirl cause they're blood is kinda weird because I really do think he loves and stans sam as family (in a COMPLETELY non incestuous way oh god) and not just because he has to cause of the script (like some bloggers these days think...which just. what show did you even watch bestie) but yeah. also, if we had to choose, I'd definitely choose sam as a casgirl. Because he appreciates him and looks up to him and cas's opinions really matter to him and he believes in him and wamts him to come home and thinks of him as best friend and family :)

Listen bestie. I get your points, I'm willing to say that Sam's a Casgirl bc he loves his bestie and always tries his best to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe even more than Dean's done.

HOWEVER. Let's go back to the part where you don't think Jack is Cascoded because their plotlines don't match. (Also; Sam didn't kill his mom. Azazel killed her 6 months after his birth. As for the manipulation thing; that happened to all three of them at some point.)

Let's look at your namings of Cas's plotlines:

huge sacrifices for love

Jack literally gave his life/was ready to give his life to save the Winchesters&Castiel on multiple occasions. He kneeled down before Dean's gun because he felt he deserved it, he wanted to kill himself in 13x23 to save Sam and the others, and his entire arc in season 15 was about sacrificing himself to kill God and Amara. So that Sam and Dean could finally be free.

hugely misguided attempts to make everything right

point I mean; this speaks for itself. Things go wrong and Jack always tries to fix it, even if it doesn't turn out well. A GREAT example is everything that went down with him and Dumah; him trying to make Heaven a better place (making angels, killing non-believers, etc) because he believed it'd make Sam and Dean happy, and it would redeem him from killing Mary. In fact, his soulless arc was pretty close to Cas's Godstiel arc. I could even pull up a few parallels for you.

loss of powers leaving him abandoned

He lost his powers in season 14. And yes, he wasn't left on the streets like Cas was. HOWEVER, he felt just as lost and abandoned as he did. Not physically but definitely emotionally. He had no one to connect with and felt useless and hopeless. He stole someone's grace afterwards, though, just like a certain angel we all know and love.

I get what you mean and Sam and Jack do have similar story arcs. But Jack has similar story arcs with all three of them, and he shares all their characteristics because he's their son. All three boys are his dads, but he only has one father and that's Cas. I just think he happens to share more of Cas's personality because he has the same squints, the same awkwardness around humans, the same confusion about specific trivia and the same love for the Winchesters.

Let's just agree to disagree at this point sjkfjsdklf we could go on and on about this.

I enjoy this, though <3 this is fun. I love getting to talk to you ppl about this stuff :D

You know there’s something very interesting in how Edelgard alone gets all this flack for not finding out anything.

Because she’s far from being particularly ignorant - She’s solidly number two, and Claude exceeds her only after her death in his route meaning that while she lived she knew more than anyone.

Claude only gets further by interrogating Rhea directly, and because he prioritizes information over anything which has moral ambiguities of its own. Also, he’s the smartest guy in the game. Not being smarter than the designated smart guy is not being dumb, it’s just “not being a mary sue”

I haven’t seen anyone level such accusations at Seteth or Dimitri though they are substantially more ignorant... Dimitri doesn’t find out anything and Seteth has no idea about wtf his sister’s been up to, so he basically defends the church not knowing of its flaws. (Why do you think Rhea says in her supports that she “can’t trust anyone” not even her brother? Cause she hasn’t told him.)

I don’t mean to bash either of them, though - One of the big themes in the game is perspective, everyone’s acting on what they know, no single route ever tells you everything or fully understands the premises the others are acting on.

Edelgard looks antagonistic ‘cause you don’t have the full picture (though I would argue that Azume Moon and especially Verdant Wind eventually let on what her real position was. )  - and she’s not the only one, after all she doesn’t know all this crap with her mother, Claude’s plans, or that Flayn and Seteth are innocent.

Somehow ppl understand that this is part of the plot with the other characters, but not with Edelgard. She seems to be held to a higher standard.

Highlights include

Fair world hypothesis reasoning that, if she didn’t find out everything then clearly she didn’t try... as if trying always implied success she did. She marched in a troupe of sholars and everything

Saying she blindly believed what she got from her ancestors - she DID research further it’s not her fault the records were all purged, and she clearly doesn’t trust or idealize her ancestors seeing as she considers them sellout. Judging by that one quote Rhea has on the tailteen plains, ol’ Wilhelm might not actually have been as bad as Edelgard fears he was.

ppl claiming she believed crap she got for the agarthans for no reason other than it’s convenient though there is no textual evidence for it, she tells you where her info is from, it’s her ancestors and that research she’s having ppl do, She’s ignoring what  Thales said about Nemesis being a thief

Saying that she started the war “on false information” ie because of the Nemesis thing which is NOT why she did it. It’s rather the other way around - in absense of further information she’s willing to give Rhea’s past enemies the benefit of the doubt because she knows what Rhea’s like in her own time

Wether you agree with her or not she considers what she’s doing revolting against a tyranical ruler (Rhea), and flat out says at one point that she doesn’t care what Rheas reasons or backstory is... it’s Rhea’s present tyranny that matters not 1000 years ago. She incorrectly speculates that Nemesis might’ve been good but she’s not per se attached to that idea and given more info she would probably reconsider given that she is shown to take and consider constructive criticism in almost every support chain... about Nemesis, that is, I doubt her opinion on Rhea would change at all, and knowing the crests came from a fucked up origin in the first place would probably not surprise her all that much/only confirm her worldview.

There’s something sad here, because once upon a time Rhea probably actually was heroic or at least neutral and just trying to stop the villain who killed her family, but she’s become so warped that some ppl can’t image that she was every anything other than a tyrant. 

By contrast in Azure Moon a great deal is made of Dimitri getting his father’s old lance and it’s this big meaningful moment when he gets it, he’s got a lot of sweet nerdy excitement concerning the legends about his ancestors and was raised pretty religiously, I’d say he’d be a whole lot more shaken to find out that the ten elites were basically murderous savages.

It probably comes down to the bias of proactive vs. reactive actions as well as hindsight bias.

Thing is... of course you should get a good picture of what’s going on before you act to avoid making things worse. But this is not all or nothing, and in reality you will almost never have 100% completeness or 100% certainty and expecting it will just leave you paralysed.

You’ll never be 100% sure that you have the truth but you still have to act, and you have to deal. Edelgard was at 90%.

Every snark comment, that ridiculous break up story jesy pointing at Perrie several times after the break up when they sang black magic Perries what’s his face them laughing when a girl screamed zayns a bitch the whole sotme fiasco her crying for sympathy which zayn is still getting shit for her mentioning sotme every chance she gets so I’m not blaming z stans for disliking her

if i was in a band where for 4 years nearly every single interview i was in the focus got almost completely re-directed to a relationship that had nothing to do with the band or the music, and even after that fake relationship ended it still kept happening, i might be pretty snarky about it too. ofc the boys had some moments where the relationships got focused on in interviews but imo it was nowhere near what LM experienced. with 1d an interviewer might ask a question or two about whoever the boys were dating and that’s obviously annoying but for LM there were sometimes nearly whole interviews that got bogarted by questions about zerrie. there were times when the other girls literally would barely even get asked a single question cause everything was about zerrie, zerrie, zerrie. and there are multiple times where you can clearly see perrie is absolutely done with being forced to talk about it too or to act happy about it. i’m not asking ppl to suddenly start stanning her, i’m just asking ppl to give her (and the other girls) the benefit of the doubt.

imagine for a moment that the shoe were on the other foot and some 1d fan called perrie a bitch and zayn laughed, or that louis got snarky in an interview and said something not too nice about perrie...you’d probably be praising zayn and louis (and that hypothetical fan) all the livelong day b/c zayn’s your fave and you’re looking at it from his perspective but just for a moment try to look at it from hers too. she went through that shit too for four years too, and unlike zayn she still had to play her part of the broken-hearted fiancee for like a year after it was all over. did she want that for herself? who knows. but based on some of the reactions i’ve seen from her when she let her guard down and/or just didn’t give af anymore i’d be willing to bet that’s not at all what she wanted for herself, and that she’s just as sick of her public image forever being connected to zayn as he is. she played the role well at some moments but that’s what she had to do. she had just as little choice as zayn did, she just was very occasionally a little bit better at selling it (emphasis on very occasionally). she can’t change the fact that sotme is always gonna be connected to zayn b/c of the bullshit her shitty mgmt made her do. she has a right to be annoyed and to react badly just as much as zayn. you keep putting the blame on her as if this was all her choice, but if the evidence has shown ANYTHING it’s that practically nothing a syco-backed artist does is their choice and we have no idea what else the girls might have even had to go through behind the scenes too (both with zayn and with the industry in general). we have no idea what kind of sexism, racism, sexual harassment, body image issues, etc. they might have had to deal on top of that all just from being females in the entertainment industry at a time when everyone thought a girl group was gonna be an automatic fail and the only ‘good’ way they could think to sell them was to just piggyback off the success of a band of boys and a fabricated relationship. 

have you ever once thought about what it might been like from their perspective? can you imagine how degrading that would be to constantly be getting told, both directly and indirectly, that your talent on your own isn’t good enough just b/c you’re girls? that everything you say or do has to revolve around a band of boys and a fake relationship instead of your actual music or your actual talent b/c that’s not ‘marketable’ enough and not ‘good enough.’ and then when you finally think it’s over, you still have to play along with it for another year, and even still have to deal with getting asked about it years later? and that’s on top of whatever other bs you’re getting told about not being thin enough, not being pretty enough, not being sexy enough, or having to let ppl get away with doing and saying degrading things to you just b/c you’re a girl, and that you’re never gonna make it or be successful unless it’s on the coattails of men. to have ppl telling you every time your song doesn’t chart that it’s because you/your bandmate is not doing a good job at selling your connection with this boyband or your relationship with this boy well enough. if you were in that position you’d probably be damn annoyed with the boy and the boyband you were constantly being forcibly associated to, compared to, and overshadowed by too. the fact is Lm was never allowed to stand on their own two feet under syco, everything was always connected to zerrie and 1d and getting hated on and blamed b/c of that as if that was in any way their own fault or their own choice. and then when they lash out about it (just like the boys have done with their beards or other ppl they don’t like on countless occasions) you guys have the nerve to continue to blame them for it. you say stuff like ‘she and the girls put zayn through so much shit’ as if they’re not just humans reacting to just as shitty of a situation forced upon them by their shitty mgmt. as if zayn himself doesn’t know that in a lot of ways they were in the same boat and reacting to things in the same way that zayn and the boys have done. i’m not saying the LM girls are perfect people or that you have to like them, but at least stop laying all of the blame completely on them and try to understand that they have just as much reason to lash out about this stuff as the boys do. that they have just as much reason to be annoyed and frustrated and snarky and bitter. different reasons, sure, but still justified in my opinion

so to your comment about blaming z stans for not liking her - i can and i will. because from what i’ve seen it tends to be just blind hate. it’s ppl putting literally every stunt on her personally as if she arranged it herself (which may be the case for some of the other beards but not her). it’s ppl hating on her/the band for ‘using’ zayn for fame when she/they clearly had no real choice in the matter (again unlike other beards). it’s ppl simply hating on her for being a beard and participating in closeting with no regard to the fact that in many ways she was in the same boat as zayn was, and was coerced into the situation just as much as zayn was. it’s ppl holding up her and the girls’ negative reactions to talk of zayn/zerrie/1d and being like ‘see, she’s a bitch’ but yet when their faves do the same they’re praising it, and they don’t even take a moment to think about all the justifiable reasons the girls might feel they have for reacting this way (and who even knows what might have gone on b/t them and zayn personally too that might add to all of that). i wanna be clear, i’m not saying it’s right, or that i condone it all. i get ppl in the fandom not liking perrie/lm. I DO. but at least have specific reasons for not liking her and at least be fair enough to recognize that 1) most of the things you’re hating on her (and/or the other LM girls) for are not her/their fault personally, 2) even for the things that are her/their fault, they may feel they have a right to respond a little bit bitterly and/or snarkily b/c of whatever they bullshit they were put through as a result, and 3) that if the roles were reversed and it was zayn who had done what she did your reaction would be a whole lot different simply because you like him and are more willing to consider things from his perspective and be more sympathetic

heyyy sorry to keep ya waiting on this. i tried to keep this as short as i could, but it’s about five paragraphs long, sorry. it’s not in any way a comprehensive list of problems with the last few seasons, just a quick tour of the moments i shouldve let be my ‘i can’t keep watching after this’ point. i wanted to write it objectively but i got pretty aggro, bc this show that in some part i genuinely adore has been producing unforgivably bigoted content. (it’s kinda a ship of theseus situation, except where the parts of the ship were replaced with worse, shittier, fake-woke parts.) i ask ppl to avoid reblogging this, because i don’t want my words to contribute in any way to online buzz surrounding this show or make anyone want to see it, even if ONLY to hatewatch or criticize.

in the last season where peter capaldi was the doctor, two seasons ago now, he had a new companion, Bill. she was a black lesbian and literally the only reason i started watching doctor who again. i loved her, and i was really glad to see the show moving back towards the more diverse cast of characters that we saw in the late aughts. then the season had a repeated theme of FORCING her to either repress or not feel her emotions. there are two scenes that stand out most to me. in an ep set in like, early 19th century london, she and the doctor are talking to a racist rich white dude who is being super nasty to Bill. the doctor keeps telling her to cool it and not show how angry she is. then HE gets to punch the guy out and knock him to the floor.

this theme of the white man being the only one allowed to get angry was big all season, iirc. then at the end of the season, Bill is turned into a cyberman. they’re usually like. soulless scary automatons, but some characters keep their individuality, which has been explored in a few past seasons, usually leading up to a tragic/heroic death. in Bill’s case, they did this trick with filming where we could see her perspective of herself in some shots–an intensely emotional performance, Bill was completely traumatized and her actress was working her ass off–and in others, just this metal body incapable of expression, scaring people like she was a monster and monotoning these otherwise very emotional statements. it’s an interesting narrative device, but after a whole season of this show putting Bill through all kinds of terrible shit and forcing her not to show her feelings on the matter, it hit me as like. this nauseating exaggeration of how society treats actual black lesbians as monsters and tries to make them bottle up their emotions and especially their justifiable anger. anyway, then Bill died and got to be with her dead girlfriend from her first episode. wow, cool.

idk what made me watch the season after that. i guess i wanted to see the new doctor, and i liked her companions (one was like. a young man with disabling neurological symptoms, tbh even if i’d missed Bill’s season that might have had me back on board). i had plenty of problems with how the season played out, obvs, but nothing was standout horrible to me the way the shit with Bill had been (except maybe the episode that started out like ‘space amazon is a hellhole’ and somehow ended with ‘space amazon was taken advantage of by a broken AI that hurt some people and they didnt fix the infrastructure we explicitly showed harmed their workers but now it’s fine!’ if that sounds weird and heavy handed with an unsatisfying ending, it’s because it was). the new season tho? the OPENING EPISODES OF THE NEW SEASON, THO? it opens with alexa product placement, in an episode about how a fictionalized google was actually run by a black man who had ties to a large number of aliens who had secretly infiltrated our society, altered our dna, and shit like that. so uh, 1. brand war lmao, sellouts etc etc 2. y’all remember those conspiracy theories about jews? and white supremacist beliefs that black people are ruining the world but aren’t smart enough to do it on their own so they must be agents of jewish corruption? HUH. HUH! that’s not even my big problem with the fuckin thing, but it’s FOR SURE a suspicious writing move from a tv show with suuuuch a huge viewership. (and it’s just plain embarrassing for a show with alexa product placement to try to go all scary panopticon tropes specifically @ a google analogue.)

anyway, we run into an old recurring antagonist, the master, a time lord like the doctor. he’s a guy again after having been a woman for a few seasons, and now played by an actor of color. i figure the reasoning at least partly relied on “dude, how fucked up will it be if we force the doctor’s black friend to call a white dude master” but i was immediately afraid it might go to the like…. Righteous White Woman Gets The Better Of Evil Brown Man tropes and oh boy!!!! i tried to be good and give it the benefit of the doubt until i saw something racist but it wasted no time. the doctor got stuck in the past at one point, and met the master, who was currently a military official with the third reich. oh boy. so she asks him why they let him work with them and he explains he’s using a device to psychically disguise himself, they see him as white. (we missed a great chance for him to monologue about how they were willing to bend their morals when they saw how evil he could get or something.) this was awkward enough for me as a viewer, but i wasn’t prepared to go into it, in case there was some tiny shred of nuance somewhere that would make this situation anything but a clusterfuck.

well, the doctor executes a genuinely clever scheme and makes a radio transmission to the brits that she knows won’t reach em, talking about how helpful this officer has been–setting up the master to be falsely outed as a double agent when the nazis intercept it. she tells the master this and then skedaddles, letting him be arrested by his own men. could be a satisfying karmic victory where he presumably gets a military trial and weasels out of his fate, although i don’t like the implications of a white woman punishing a brown man for racism. BUT IT DIDN’T STOP THERE! she disables his psychic filter, causing his men to see his true identity as a man of color–she exposes her oldest frenemy and Basically The Only Time Lord Who’ll Talk To Her to nazi racism when he was ALREADY about to fall into their hands as a prisoner. what could have been a marginally satisfying defeat was instead a kind of emotional horrorshow for me as i had to stop and wonder what kind of hell they’d put him through and why the writers decided that the doctor (who has literally since the show began in like the sixties been set up as an enemy of naziism via allegory and has always been firm in the idea that NOBODY, including literal maneating space monsters, deserves to be treated as less than human) would DO that. IT’S LATER IMPLIED HE ESCAPED FROM A CONCENTRATION CAMP. the narrative DOES NOT allow time for that to sink in before moving on.

i dont have a conclusion 2 this. im just hurt as fuck about it. i hope i gave u the info u were looking for without getting too deep into my personal feelings, but it’s difficult, maybe impossible to be objective about stuff like this.

Mod are we sure it's not the curator with her hair up? She has a black leather looking coat on from the vid. I know the purse and the shoes are a little bit suspicious but the hair may be just tied back and you can't see it in the pic.

Uh, the NYC garage pics didn't "just happen". Diane paid Daily Mail and TMZ and tipped them off, seemingly without NR's knowledge. The accompanying articles were filed with misinformation yet somehow they know about his place upstate? So its pretty clear she wants to go public with whatever they do or don't have. IF he's sneaking around with her, he's doing it for himself because he doesn't want to even publicly acknowledge it. She clearly wants him to. That makes me kinda sad for her.

Hello Mod, thank you for all you do. I always see eye to eye with you and appreciate your level head. I have never commented, but I want to say that no matter what NR & DK "relationship " is, was, whatever, or if she's in Spain or not,when his opening roles around everyone please be prepared, don't be naive, she WILL be there, taking pics, with fb and her "posse".
