useful information: How to get a USB Blu-Ray player to work on your computer
Not a post about vintage technology, just an explanation of what you think might be simple to do but isn't: There are Blu-Ray players that plug into your computer by USB, and you discover that just plugging it in doesn't make it work* in the same manner that CD-RWs or DVD-RWs are automatically recognised and function. You will see "BR Drive" in My Computer and the name of whatever movie you have inserted, but that's as far as you're able to go.

*There is software you can buy to make a Blu-Ray (internal or external) function, sure, and if an internal came with your computer it's likely already installed -- but if you're like me you don't have that software, you're cheap and won't pay for software, and you want to use what you have installed already or find free solutions.
Looking in the Blu-Ray drive's package, there's not a lot of info about what you're supposed to do. The above no-name Blu-Ray player cost $40 from a popular website; name-brand ones can set you back $120 or so. Looking around online for those instructions, I never saw the whole set of directions in one place, I had to cobble them together from 2 or 3 sites. And so here I share that list. To keep out of trouble, I'm not linking any files -- Google will help you.
Get VLC, the free video player available for pretty much any operating system. Thing is, it doesn't come with the internals to make it work with Blu-Ray even if when you go to the Play Media menu there is a radio button for selecting Blu-Ray.
Get MakeMKV, a decoder for reading Blu-Ray disks. This had been totally free during the beta testing period but it's come out and has a month or two trial period you can work in.
Get Java if you don't already have it. Reason for this is, the menu systems on Blu-Ray disks uses this... technically it's not required, however it does mean you don't have options such as special features, language and sound changes, or scene selection if you don't have Java installed; insert a disk, it can only play the movie.
Get the file libaacs.dll online so you have AACS decoding. I am told it hasn't been updated in awhile so there may be disks produced after 2013 that won't work right, but you won't know until you try.
There's a set of keys you will also want to have so that the player knows how to work with specific disks, and so do a search online for the "FindVUK Online Database". There will be a regularly-updated keydb.cfg archive file on that page to pick up.
Got those three programs installed and the other two files obtained? Okay, here are your instructions for assembly...
In VLC: go to Tools, Prefs, click "show all"… under the Input/Codecs heading is Access Modules then Blu-Ray: Select your region, A through C. You can change this if you need to for foreign disks. Next related action: go to My Computer and C:, click into Program Files and VLC, and this is where you copy the libaacs.dll file to.
In MakeMKV: click View, then Preferences, and under Integration - add VLC.
Confirm that Java is set up to work with VLC by going to the computer's Control Panel, going to System Properties, and into Environment Variables. Click System Variables, and click New to create this key if it doesn't already exist: … Name: Java … Value: [the location of the Java 'jre#.##' folder... use Browse to find it in C:\Program Files\Java]
Let's go back into My Computer and C:, this time go to Program Data, and then do a right-click in the window and select New and Folder. Rename this folder "aacs" (without the quotes), and then you click into it and copy the keydb.cfg file here.
REBOOT.
And now you should be able to recognise Blu-Ray disks in your player and play them. Three troubleshooting notes to offer in VLC:
"Disk corrupt" -- this means MakeMKV has not decoded and parsed the disk yet, or that you don't have the libaacs.dll in place so that it can decode the disk. ...After checking the VLC folder for the DLL to make sure, launch MakeMKV, then go to File, Play Disk, and select the Blu-Ray drive. Now it will grind a bit and figure out the disk's contents.
A note appears when a movie starts saying there will be no menus, but the movie plays fine -- Java isn't running. ...Invoke Java by going to the Java Settings in Start: Programs. You don't have to change anything here, so Exit, then eject the disk and put it back in to see if the movie's menu now appears.
Buffering between chapters, making the movie pause for a few seconds? There is a setting for this but I need to find that info page again for where that is. (If you find it, tell me where it is!)
I don't claim to know a lot but if you have any questions I might have some answers or suggestions. So far I've watched "Office Space" and Disney's "Coco" without any issues beside occasional buffering.

Little update on my newly set up 10gal

I know, I know. It looks bad. But it's okay. It's just in its diatom phase. Every new tank goes through this. It's this brown algae like stuff that covers everything. But they are little organisms called diatoms. They'll go away on their own once the tank settles itself. The ramshorn snails I put in there will also help to clean it up.
Up until today, this tank didn't have a filter as the one I had intended on using wouldn't work when I went to set it up. So I just had a little internal pump in there to keep a flow going. Now that it's got a filter, I put old filter media from my 40gal into the filter on this tank, so it's got beneficial bacteria already to go for some new fish. But, since this tank sat for what a week or so without a filter, there's some built-up ammonia and nitrites that I'm going to let get filtered out before I add any fish in there. I'll give it a week and test the water again and see how it's doing.
So far, though, some things are going well. Some things are not so good.

We have cyanobacteria on the driftwood closest to the light. Which is no biggie. I'm treating the tank with some stuff that gets rid of it.

This stuff works miracles. It just takes two doses 2 days apart, and the cyanobacteria never comes back. It doesn't affect shrimp, snails, or fish. And it doesn't harm your beneficial bacteria either. Though it may drop the oxygen in the water a bit so an air stone during treatment is recommended. Anyways, now that I'm done advertising, lmao

The Java fern wedged in the driftwood above the cyanobacteria is doing well. You can see the brighter green leaves that are new. It's really taken off in this tank.

Speaking of new growth. We've got new leaves on the cryptocoryne wendtii. Surprisingly, I didn't have much melt on them. They just look sad because of the diatoms, lol

New growth on the dwarf sagittaria as well.

Same for the vallisneria asiatica and rotala rotundifolia.

Both anubias also sport a new leaf! Don't mind the snail poop on the leaves. That's evidence of a job well done!
Well, that's the 10gal update. I'm still bouncing around between having a small school of middle schooling fish and some sort of small bottom dweller or getting a betta. I keep thinking about chili rasboras. I've always thought they were lovely despite me not being a big fan of the colour red(I'm more of a blue/purple type). Anyways I'm rambling. That's it for now~

Can I ask about your work experience, like what languages you work with and what kinds of projects you do? What is it that makes you want to take up a trade instead?
Hi! I've been a Java backend developer (mostly, I've done some front end stuff with Angular and Typescript, which I loathe) for 6 years. I've mostly worked in big companies, done contractor work (which I didn't like, WAY too demanding, REALLY long hours) and now I'm in a nondescript company, I took this job bc I was unemployed and I needed an income fast, but I don't like it.
I stress and get frustrated very quickly and there are many things that you have to be updated all the time, you can't just be a 'Java developer', you have to keep learning stuff that is insane and the pace changes all the time. You're surveilled all the time, not just with how many hours you put in, but also how much you use the computer, what programs you use, for how long, etc. It's very micromanaging-oriented. Some might not experience this, but I've always worked with these conditions, though lately even more monitored. I don't like it, makes me feel like I'm not working enough. You get the idea.
Currently I'm looking for a position in a better paid place, but the process of interviews is long and tiring, they can be over 2 hours long where they test your technical knowledge, sometimes with live coding, which makes me very very nervous (I don't like others seeing me coding, I hate it), and 99% of the times the interviewers are smug, sardonic men that will try to make you feel like you're dumb. This doesn't happen to my friends that also are developers, so I think it might be because I'm a female in the field. So there's that too. I'm thinking of changing paths because, even though most people might think this is a cushy job where you can work from home (that's a big plus, I don't complain about that, I love staying at home and I'm not very good at socializing duh I'm a software developer lol), you have to wreck your brain and you work long hours, sometimes up to 10 a day, specially when something breaks or you work in a shitty company, as is the case rn.
I wanna try doing something with my hands, something where I can see the results of my work in real life and that impacts others, and tbh there aren't many women electricians (I personally don't know any), so while it might be hard at first to get a clientele, I think there could be a market for it, bc women might feel safer with a woman in their house instead of a man. I want to try learning how to be a gas fitter and maybe also plumbing, so I can expand my trade and not just be an electrician. I found some 2 year courses at different universities so instead of finishing my degree in Software Engineering I'll go for that.
Hope that helps!

downloaded the pearlo, for some reason my java isnt actually putting her on the screen. do you know why this is and how to get her to work
can't promise you a 100% fix without looking at ur files, but some fixes you could try:
reinstalling java. this version of shimeji needs specifically java 8 to run so it's possible your java needs an update
(^extra note about this: you have to install java directly from the java website. the version that you get with minecraft, for example, won't work.)
checking if the shimeji program is actually running in your tray, it should look something like the image attached below. if it's there, you could try clicking the "call shimeji" option if it doesn't spawn one when you first open the program for whatever reason (it's also possible that she is spawning and just spawning somewhere really weird like the edge of the screen where you can't see her)
checking if your computer has enough power to run it - if you can open up an internet browser and type this ask I highly doubt your computer will have trouble with a shimeji, but it's possible you're low on RAM or have a bunch of stuff running in the background that are getting in the way.
it's possible your zip file isn't extracted correctly -- inside should look like this:
if it doesn't, try extracting the ZIP file again. try to avoid win-rar if possible, that seemed to muddy things up when I was testing the dl with a friend.
in the event that there's something horribly wrong with the pearlo download specifically, you can download another shimeji e.g. the default one from the dev's website and replace the 'img' folder with pearl's 'img' folder. the only code i messed with was letting her interact with more windows, so you shouldn't be losing out on anything especially if you just want to see her wander around your screen.
alternatively, you could use something like the shimeji browser extension's editor and have your pearl shimeji that way, although that's a bit different features-wise compared to having one on your desktop as a whole.
and finally, try turning your pc on and off again. it works sometimes. god knows why
hope at least one of these helped!!

Back again with a question and update-!
(Do let me know if I ought to hold back on these lmao, I acknowledge it’s quite much,,)
Moving on from the realm of misinfo and hearsay, what are some *hypotheticals* you might have regarding brackish beasties?
I.e things you suspect to be the case, but have no concrete information for, as of yet
E.g that there exists somewhere a euryhaline Nudibranch or Echinoderm, or that Coastal Cattail Reeds are potentially brackish friendly alternatives to mangroves!
As for update;
Following your naming guidance, I have named Brotato’s contemporaries:
Bromato and Spudbud
Respectively.
They enjoy annihilating crickets and vigorously lunging themselves at floating flake foods.
I am enamored, to say the least.
Feel free to ask whatever! I'm happy to respond as I have time.
A few things I suspect...
I think most if not all families of fish have one or more brackish tolerant species. As far as I've found in research, there are a wider array of brackish tolerant fishes than most realize. Minnows, Glassfish, Gouramis, Rainbowfish, and Tetras - all freshwater aquarium fish generally, all have one or more commonly sold brackish species. Some families have brackish species that just don't get sold much; cardinalfish, sunfish, and needlefish come immediately to mind. I think if you searched hard enough, you'd find more.
Euryhaline (freshwater-to-saltwater) fish are pretty well known - Mollies, Mosquitofish, Sheepshead Minnows, Mummichogs, just a few that are known. But invertebrates almost never are thought of as such. I know at least one - the Volcano Snail, but I suspect there are many more. I also suspect amphibious crustaceans (hermits and the like) are more likely to fall into this category.
I suspect aquatic (vice emersed) plant tolerance of salt, unlike fish, is probably lower with regards to salt than normally suspected. If you wander through brackish marches, you'll not often note many aquatic species of plants present. Algae typically takes over in those areas. Even plants with some tolerance, like Java ferns, sometimes skew lower than their commonly accepted maximums would indicate. I'm not really sure what makes emerged plants (like mangroves) more likely to tolerate salty conditions - possibly roots being hardier than leaves, or lack of competition.
I think I've seen this confirmed (when I did look long ago, it had not been yet), but I'm pretty sure brackish tolerance is a function of kidneys - which doesn't matter a whole lot for aquarium keeping purposes, but I enjoy knowing how things work.

Hello Hello!
Welcome to hellshottestluxury!
I never know what to write here so I'll just get to the point!
This blogs is multiship, with all being in their own verse unless stated otherwise. I love shipping, Lux loves people and will flirt with your muse, most likely.
I am an adult (30+) so I have to ask that MINORS DNI.
There will be NSFW topics here. Lux was a porn start. They might mention work, or flirt in a more explicit way. Doesn't always mean it'll get to that point but I'd rather be safe than sorry. If I find out you're a minor, I will block you.
You don't have to enjoy that to be here though! Lux will flirt but it'll be mostly innuendos. My spicy tag is nsfh and you are welcome to put that in a filter so you don't see the actually explicit stuff if it comes up.
OOC tag is "Java Jabbers" if you don't want OOC (I also tag it OOC) I tend to post there, I like getting to know the folks I interact with and I try to post updates on what's up IRL.
Now here's some handy links, take a look around and I hope to hear from you!

Loki S2E3:
I like how the first half of the season is directed on saving the TVA, as opposed to last season's agenda of destroying it. The irony is way too funny.
Gotta say that Loki, Mobius, B-15, D-90 (?), Casey, and O.B. running the TVA is the best thing ever. They're all amazing together. I hope Sylvie decides to come back this episode and stick around. Looked like she was thinking about it.
Ooh, interesting spin on the MCU logo theme today.
RENSLAYER SIGHTING.
She is so out of place there omfg.
"That's it?" Pretty underwhelming, right?
Miss Minutes changes colors 👀
OG He Who Remains as a child is something I didn't know I needed.
Literally everything revolves around that book, doesn't it? Wait- doesn't this mean O.B. should get credit for helping create the TVA??
"That's gonna be an awkward reunion." I love Mobius.
"Well, maybe she got it out of her system." Lmao. Doubt it. Might not try to kill them, but she's definitely no friend right now.
The thing I love about Mobius & Loki going on missions in the timeline is that we get to see so much more of their dynamic. They're definitely one of my favorite duos ever.
"Thor isn't that tall." 😂
Renslayer talking to a ghost clock in a bag is way too funny.
"Don't let her see you." So, either this is going to go like the Andor finale or she is totally going to see them. Noted.
Whiplash at seeing adult Victor Timely as opposed to the little boy ten minutes ago. This dude literally dedicated his life to controlling time.
NO COMPUTER, I DON'T WANT TO UPDATE JAVA RIGHT NOW.
Okay, I know Jonathan Majors is being accused of domestic violence or something, but the guy is a great actor. Not that that excuses him of any crimes he might've committed.
ARE THEY GOING TO KIDNAP HIM?
Mobius, this is such a bad idea, my guy. His ambitions are already too powerful. He'll just take over again.
"I don't do partners." THE LOOK ON THE OTHER GUY'S FACE. 🤣
Oh, great, he's selling it.
Is Renslayer seriously about to find them out because Loki stepped on a dude's foot?
Loki has absolutely no patience and his solution to that problem was the best thing ever 😂
I can't believe they ACTUALLY managed to sneak up on her.
Renslayer and Loki & Mobius fighting of talking to Victor is the funniest thing ever. It's like they're fighting for custody, except it's their younger father or something and he knows literally none of them.
And there he goes. 👀
"We just wanna talk!" You are literally chasing this man.
Victor is such a trickster.
SYLVIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE.
I wonder if He Who Remains remembered Loki and Sylvie fighting over him back when he was Victor still.
"Well, your machete hasn't solved any problems thus far." Ouch. She literally did deserve that, though.
This moment is the S1 finale all over again.
Giant ghost clock. 👀
Well, at least Miss Minutes had fun.
Victor and Renslayer really did fall in love, didn't they? Huh.
Is Miss Minutes seriously jealous of Renslayer right now? Lmao.
He just called Mobius a butler 😂
"Loki helped murder your variant." He did fucking not, stop manipulating the poor guy.
"Take him! He's all yours!" I almost spat out my soda.
Ooh, boat. How romantic. The writers planned this.
"I always knew my ideas were good. I just didn't have the technology to make them really work." Shit, now I feel bad for him.
The look on his face after she said "partnership."
LMAO.
I KNEW HE WAS GONNA DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. 🤣
But also. Miss Minutes seems to despise her, so yeah. More of her manipulation is happening.
SHE WAS JEALOUS.
That is the weirdest love triangle ever.
........Why do I feel like Miss Minutes is trying to manipulate him into giving her a body so she can kill him and take over the TVA personally?
There was definitely an "I love you" in there. Holy shit.
Ooh, prototype pruning-baton.
How the hell did Loki & Mobius find them?!?
Victor has to think they're all crazy by now, doesn't he? And he'd be right tbh. Poor dude.
AND THERE'S SYLVIE AGAIN.
This guy is having a rough few days, honestly, what the fuck.
Sylvie, it's not okay to shape people into murderers by trying to kill them before they've committed the crime.
"I can make my own choices." 😭
AYYYYYY.
Respect, Sylvie. Respect. No way letting him leave much less live was easy.
Oh, okay. Well. Wasn't that unexpected. I mean, she wanted to go to the End of Time, didn't she? There she is. Enjoy the corpse.
LMAO AND SHE'S STUCK WITH MISS MINUTES AGAIN.
WAIT, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE SECRET WAS.
I can't believe season two is halfway over already...

NorthaDawn's Feb 2024 Update
Hello everyone, NorthaDawn here, and it's February here, I hope that your 2024 has been going great so far! Mine has been decent so far, and I wanted to write this important journal to give you some in-depth news into the latest happenings that I've been doing that I feel all of you deserve to know about!
1) PERSONAL HAPPENINGS
I'll get the elephant in the room out of the way first; on the health side of things, I've been doing much better and physically, this is the healthiest I've been in ages. Mentally? Let's just say that I've had to cut off someone really toxic from the community; they've caused a lot of trouble for me and my dear friends for months. I don't want to dive further into what happened to keep my friends safe, but I do want to say this: be there for your friends and stand up for them when they need you around.
Apart from that, I have been changing up things here and there and handling stuff in my university and in my family, but I do have some things cooking up for you guys that I'll share with you here later! But first, I want to go over my announcement from a handful of days back to clarify a few things.
2) THAT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
You've probably already read my post where I announced my decision to continue making Titanic content in the future instead of retiring, but I think I should also explain why I contemplated retiring (again). To be honest with you, ever since my heart attack ages ago, things have gone poorly for me here; a partnership that wasn't meant to be, my ever-increasing workload in university, losing momentum and motivation for Titanic art in general, and feeling like a stranger here again has been a few reasons as to why I decided to quit once 2023 turns into 2024. However, a new partnership with smolnoodlekitty that soon turned into "Team Heartslash" (which includes people such as Matlock26th, caitlin._.art, Lacoeurdelamer, NWArtOfficial), getting more lovely people to voice act my characters, and the support from the newest batch of talented artists in the community made me rethink my decision to step away from doing Titanic art. That's why I decided to stay on! Unironically, I wouldn't still be here today without your support, so thank you all for continuing to support me even though I barely upload at all these days. I'm trying to work on that, I promise.
Speaking of characters...
3) MY FIRST OC: MASAKO HONDA
I finally made an actual original character that isn't a gijinka of some sort! I got the confidence to finally make a character that isn't limited to being a gijinka, and I'm happy with what I have. You've probably already seen her if you checked out my Twitter, but here she is: Masako Honda!
Masako Honda is a hyperactive, ADHD-ridden Japanese-Filipino girl who moved to the Philippines at the age of 10. Despite being a self-proclaimed nerd who is very geeky and hyperactive to the point where she can't stay still for 5 minutes, she is a very attractive girl who is way out of most guys' league. However, she doesn't have a boyfriend since birth. She took up the Game Development course in her university because of her self-taught ability in Unity and in C#. Just don't call her a Java developer.
That's a brief introduction of her, she'll soon have her place in my gallery, and I hope you'll be excited for that day to come as much as I am! The early reception I got from both my Discord server and my classmates has been insane and I couldn't be more thankful for the response I got for her!
4) SOCIAL MEDIAS (DISCORD SERVER + DA GROUP)
I've been going around and trying to update my social media pages and stuff, and I understand that there's a lot of links to keep up with, so I compiled them all in one page so you can quickly go to my profiles in certain sites! You can check them out right now through my Linktree here: https://linktr.ee/NorthaDawn
Speaking of updates, I've also been doing a little rebrand, which is why I've transitioned away from my old theme to the one I've had right now, I hope you like the new look!
I've also decided to take on a new tagline that I feel would represent not only me, but also all of you guys as a whole well. It's a simple line, yet it's a very motivational one, at least for me, and I hope it'll be motivational for you too. The tagline? "THERE IS STILL A VOYAGE TO EMBARK ON."
As a final reminder, I do have a Discord server up that also serves as a server for smolnoodlekitty and caitlin._.art! You can join through this link here: https://discord.gg/gsxGMPMPNb
5) VOICE ACTRESS ANNOUNCEMENT
Of course, I'd save the best for last. I'll keep it short and sweet...
RMS Olympic (Olyvia McLoughlin) - caitlin._.art
You probably know her as my Titanic's voice for a bit now, but she'll now be primarily voicing the Old Reliable now! She also did the absolutely gorgeous art for this announcement! As for who'll take her spot as Titanic?
RMS Titanic (Emily McLoughlin) - Lacoeurdelamer
She's the nice girl who'll play the Queen of the Ocean! If you've been around my Discord server, you know her as Maxine, and the amount of similarities she has to my Titanic is quite insane, which is why she's the perfect fit!
Masako Honda - moonglower.art + smolnoodlekitty
A 2-for-1! Weren't expecting that, were you? Either way, they're sharing duties to be the voice of the hyperactive college girl!
I hope you'll be looking forward to hearing them bring my characters to life!
FINAL REMARKS
Thanks for your continued support, and I hope that this has been a nice update so you're up to speed with what's going on in my end of things. Please do leave a comment, I'd like to know what you think! Also, go support every artist mentioned in this journal, they deserve it too! Have a wonderful day!
-Northa

Our specialty at Artzen Technologies is developing mobile apps that are customized to meet your specific requirements, keeping you connected, productive, and competitive in a world where mobile devices are the norm.
Why Mobile Apps Matter for Business
Mobile apps aren’t just a passing trend—they’ve become one of the best ways for businesses to connect with people anytime, anywhere. Since most of us use smartphones every day, apps give companies a direct and convenient way to reach their customers.
Businesses use mobile apps to:
Keep customers engaged
Make daily tasks easier and faster
Get their brand noticed
Offer services on the go
Create better, smoother user experiences
Whether you’re a new startup with a big idea or an established business looking to grow, investing in mobile app development is a smart move. But not just any app will do—you need one that’s built specifically for your goals and your users. That’s where Artzen Technologies can help. We create custom mobile apps that fit your needs and help your business stand out.
What Is Custom Mobile App Development?
Custom mobile app development is all about building an app that’s made just for your business. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s designed with your specific goals, users, and how your business works in mind. Unlike pre-made apps that try to fit everyone, custom apps give you more control, better performance, and real flexibility for the long run.
What Makes Artzen Technologies Different?
When it comes to mobile app development, there are plenty of developers out there. So why choose Artzen Technologies? Here's what sets us apart:
1. Customized Solutions for All Companies
Since we think that no two companies are alike, why should their apps be? We collaborate closely with you to create the ideal solution from the ground up, whether you require an internal business tool, a mobile app that interacts with customers, or something completely different.
2. Cross-Platform Proficiency
Our staff has extensive experience with all of the main mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, and cross-platform development. Based on your requirements, we select the optimal technology stack to guarantee your project runs smoothly and grows with you.
3. Design with the User in Mind
A great app is about how it feels to use it, not just about its capabilities. We concentrate on simple, user-friendly design that makes your software fun to use and easy to use. Our aim is to create applications that your consumers will adore.
4. The Process of Agile Development
We use agile development techniques to maintain the flexibility, openness, and effectiveness of your project. You will be able to offer feedback at every stage of the project and witness development at every turn.
5. Support After Launch
After your app launches, our work doesn't stop. To keep your app up to date, safe, and in line with your changing business requirements, we offer continuous maintenance, updates, and support.
Our Mobile App Development Services
At Artzen Technologies, we offer a full range of mobile app development services, including:
1 Development of iOS Apps
We design and build powerful, polished apps for iPhones and iPads using Swift and Objective-C. From sleek user interfaces to robust backend integrations, our iOS apps deliver high performance and smooth user experiences.
2. Development of Android Apps
All of the main Android devices and screen sizes are compatible with our Android apps. Because we employ Java and Kotlin, your app will be fully functional, responsive, and compatible.
3. Development of Cross-Platform Apps
Do you want an app that is compatible with both iOS and Android? To develop cross-platform apps that save time and money without sacrificing quality, we employ frameworks like Flutter and React Native.
4. Design of UI/UX
From the beginning, our design team prioritizes the user experience. We produce aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly wireframes, prototypes, and finished designs.
5. Backend Development & APIs
Many apps need a strong backend to handle data, users, and business logic. We build secure, scalable server-side systems and APIs that keep your app running smoothly.
6. App Testing & Quality Assurance
Before your app goes live, we test it thoroughly to make sure everything works perfectly. Our QA team checks for bugs, performance issues, and user experience problems across all devices and platforms.

web development,
web development,
Web development is a rapidly evolving field that combines creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to create dynamic, user-friendly websites and web applications. Whether you're building a simple personal blog or a complex e-commerce platform, web development encompasses various aspects that need to be addressed to deliver a seamless and effective digital experience.
In this article, we'll explore the key elements of web development, the different types of web development, and the tools and technologies that are used to create modern websites.
What is Web Development?
Web development refers to the process of creating and maintaining websites or web applications. It involves a variety of tasks, including web design, content creation, client-side scripting, server-side scripting, and database management. The goal is to build websites that are functional, visually appealing, easy to navigate, and responsive across different devices.
There are three primary areas of web development:
Front-End Development: This focuses on the visual aspects of a website, or what users interact with directly. It includes layout, design, structure, and user experience (UX) elements.
Back-End Development: The back end is the server side of web development. It involves managing databases, server interactions, and the logic that powers the front end.
Full-Stack Development: A full-stack developer works on both the front-end and back-end of a web application, handling everything from the design to the server-side programming.
Key Technologies in Web Development
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) HTML is the backbone of web development. It provides the basic structure of web pages, defining headings, paragraphs, links, images, and other elements that form the content of a site.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) CSS is used to style and layout web pages. It determines how HTML elements should be displayed, including colors, fonts, positioning, and responsiveness. CSS frameworks like Bootstrap make it easier to create attractive and mobile-friendly websites.
JavaScript JavaScript is the scripting language that allows you to add interactivity to your website. It powers features like animations, form validation, dynamic content loading, and more. JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, and Vue.js enable the development of sophisticated user interfaces.
Server-Side Programming Languages Languages like PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, and Node.js are used for back-end development. They handle tasks like interacting with databases, authenticating users, and managing the overall functionality of a website.
Databases Databases store the data that websites need to function, such as user information, product details, or blog posts. Popular databases include MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. Back-end developers are responsible for designing and maintaining the database schema and ensuring efficient data retrieval.
Web Frameworks Web frameworks streamline the development process by providing reusable code and best practices. For example, Django (Python), Ruby on Rails (Ruby), and Express.js (Node.js) help developers build web applications more efficiently.
Version Control (Git) Version control systems like Git allow developers to track changes to code and collaborate with other developers. GitHub is a popular platform for hosting and managing code repositories.
Types of Web Development
Static Websites Static websites consist of fixed content that doesn't change unless manually updated by a developer. These sites are typically simple and fast to load, as they are just a collection of HTML and CSS files.
Dynamic Websites Dynamic websites are more complex, offering interactive elements such as forms, user logins, and dynamic content that updates in real-time. They are powered by server-side programming and databases.
Single-Page Applications (SPA) SPAs load a single HTML page and update content dynamically as users interact with the site. They offer a smoother experience by avoiding full-page reloads. Popular frameworks for SPAs include React and Angular.
E-commerce Websites E-commerce websites facilitate online shopping, allowing businesses to sell products and services. They require features like shopping carts, payment gateways, and order tracking systems.
Content Management Systems (CMS) A CMS allows users to create and manage digital content without coding. WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal are some popular CMS platforms used to create blogs, portfolios, and business websites.
Best Practices in Web Development
Responsive Design Websites must be optimized for different screen sizes and devices, from desktops to mobile phones. Responsive design ensures that websites look good and function well on all devices.
Accessibility Web accessibility refers to making websites usable for people with disabilities. This includes providing alternative text for images, ensuring proper contrast ratios, and enabling keyboard navigation.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) SEO involves optimizing your website so that it ranks well on search engines like Google. This includes optimizing page titles, meta descriptions, and ensuring fast loading times.
Security Web security is critical to protect your website and user data. Common practices include using HTTPS (SSL certificates), preventing SQL injection, and securing user authentication.
Performance Optimization A fast-loading website provides a better user experience and improves SEO rankings. Techniques like image compression, lazy loading, and minification of CSS and JavaScript files help improve performance.
Cross-Browser Compatibility Websites should function properly on all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). Testing for compatibility ensures users experience a consistent website performance.
The Future of Web Development
As web technologies continue to advance, the future of web development will see greater emphasis on:
Progressive Web Apps (PWAs): Combining the best of web and mobile apps, PWAs deliver fast, reliable, and engaging experiences.
AI and Automation: Artificial intelligence and automation tools are likely to play a bigger role in web development, helping developers write code faster and improving user experiences.
WebAssembly: WebAssembly allows developers to run code written in multiple programming languages in the browser, enabling faster performance and more powerful web applications.
Conclusion
Web development is a fascinating and dynamic field that offers endless opportunities for creativity and technical innovation. Whether you're a beginner just getting started or an experienced developer, there’s always something new to learn. By mastering the key technologies and following best practices, you can create websites that are both functional and visually stunning, providing users with an exceptional digital experience.

Vent Post
I'm just going to vent about the ridiculous technical problems I've gotten myself into. K?
Project 1: Squid server.
So. I have an annoyying habit of goofing off during school time. Yes. I know. It's shit. However, the school district blocked all extensions, even the one I used before to block distracting sites (Leechblock NG). So, I've had to resort to ridiculous lengths. I bought a computer for 190 SEK (Like a bit under $20) and am planning to install Squid on it. What is squid, you may ask? It's a proxy server. Effectively that, instead of my chromebook talking directly to e.g. Tumblr's servers, it goes to mine, that says "Please pass this on to Tumblr". However, it can just say "NO". You can block certain requests. E.G. blocking Tumblr's servers but not the ones I need for schoolwork (Google Docs). But. Here's the issue. The home firewall is being an arse. It doesn't let the Chromebook talk to my Squid server (maybe good for security), so... jank solution #2. A VPN. So, the Squid server will also run OpenVPN. This'll make it so that my server functions like it's on the home network. Boo-yah! Then it's just a matter of enabling port forwarding on port whatever-it-is, adding the neccessary certificates to the chromebook and, Bob's your uncle.
Project 2: Gopher RSS reader.
So. What is Gopher? It's an internet standard, that lost out to http, what you're propably using to view this ridiculous post right now(If there is a Gopher Tumblr client, please tell me). But the important thing is to know that it's different to http. Now. RSS is basically... I don't have to go over that. The important thing you should know is that it connects to a website. Normally on http. However, I found an interesting blog I want the RSS for. On Gopher. And not a single Android RSS reader supports Gopher. So, I'm making my own. I installed the Android Development Kit on my Surface (A glorified iPad running Windows, so it's slooooooow) and asked ChatGPT how to make the app (I know. ChatGPT is worse than kicking puppies. But I'm NOT learning Kotlin or Java just for this) and have started. If I ever get it working, I'll post the APK here, on my blog.
I'll keep y'all posted with updates!
