It's season 15 of The One, and Gon Freecs might just be the worst bachelor they've ever had on the show, but it's not his fault, okay? Not when the cameraman looks like That.

Gon is about to make incredible reality TV, just not in the way he expected.

Temperance is another piece of a slightly more humble looking Ikal, aberrant mind sorcerer and fathomless warlock (and his pet tentacle).

The Tower belongs to my favourite child (don't tell the others) Warrif Al'Zyl. He is a chronomancy wizard, and the group is very unsure of his age. But they also never asked. He is a diplomat and desperately trying to keep the entire continent sane, because it seems like everyone is losing their mind politically.

The last one is Reym, the demonlord of secrets and forbidden knowledge. The group never figured out what his intentions were, before they tricked him and got his brother, Dhioma, god of fate, strife and hunger, to capture him and now keep him in the shape of a little snake inside a little glass dome within his garden. I am sure that was for the best.

OC Update #1

Hey yall, awhile ago I said I was going to start actively posting about my OCs again. I've been doing a lot of thinking and I have some ideas for where I want/need to go. Today I'm focusing on backstory stuff.

Slava - Slava is going to get an overhaul that mostly comes with the fact that he is no longer a vampire. When he was a fanwalker, him being a vampire was justified (weakly, albeit, but justified nonetheless). His family structure and that piece of his history will remain the same, but I'm working on some new motivations for him that I think will work well.

Ollie - Ollie is also getting reworked slightly. She's a more somber character now, and her powers are actively killing her unless she uses them. Her backstory has been edited but largely remains the same.

Chiara - Chiara largely remains the same. Some aspects have been changed slightly but I think she still stands on her own two feet.

Ikal - In some aspects, Ikal is going to be tricky. When I first made him, I really messed up characterizing him, and I feel like I owe him an apology lol. I've worked hard to reimagine him and I'm happy with his personality and story. The hard part is his physical appearance. He was an Ixalan merfolk, which has a pretty specific look. I think, however, I have a decent idea for where I want to take him and I'm going to mess around in HeroForge to get a better idea. I want to make him (and his people) look a little more amphibian -- think Abe Sapien in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy movies.

Sigurd - Sigurd is getting a backstory rework. I have a few ideas but nothing I'm too solid on yet.

Arzyna - Arzyna's backstory is going to mostly remain intact. Her relationship to Zalidia will change some just to fit better, but overall I'm pretty happy with her.

This song is on not one but TWO character playlists - The Baba Yaga, and Ikal! Both characters have a tendency to chase after what they want with Icarusian determination/folly, though one more chaotically than the other. They have fire burning within them, and while Ikal works to control this aspect of himself, Baba has found nothing but joy in getting burned.

A brief synopsis of my original story, The Human Side!

Killua Zoldyck’s carefully crafted strategy to graduate early was all going according to plan. Until the beginning of his last scheduled year, when his academic advisor decided to share that he was missing all of his required athletics credits. And that all gym classes were full for the year. And, no, scanning into the workout center once a week could not count for credit.

What could count for full credit, though, was being a practicing athlete on a university sports team for a minimum of two semesters. Great news for the men’s baseball coach whose team desperately needed a new pitcher and was willing to give opposite-of-athletic Killua a shot. No hitting required, minimal fielding promised, and an unexpectedly killer curveball later, and Killua had a #99 jersey with his last name on it.

The issue? Killua knew nothing about baseball. Luckily for him, team captain and catcher Gon Freecss had selflessly volunteered to teach Killua everything he needed to know about the game outside of practices.

Luckily for him, Killua loved study sessions. And baseball pants. And maybe the fact that things didn’t always go according to plan.

a humble piece of art i made two (2) weeks ago and forgot to post (to be more precise with the word choice, i was a lazy ass to write a coherent text to add to it). along with federico, miguel tlanextli and manuel hayato, he is another oc of my very own humongous fictional universe, ikal kantún. he and miguel (miguel being partly nahua), both stem from mexico and share indigenous ancestry. ikal's bloodline is said to be weirdly clean, though. it's bizarre in a sense as he didn't grow up in an isolated community, but in a rather urban area in yucatán peninsula (the exact location is undefined). however, while on a mission in the lacandon jungle, he once happened to stumble upon a remote tribe who started treating him like a deity, namely the god of rain and forest, and formed a whole cult around his divine figure. the cultists were those who showed him the path to an abandoned temple of the Jaguar deep in the jungle and to 'divus inferis', a giant hallucinogenic orchid, growing in its vicinity, radiating with purple bioluminescence and referred as 'the divine flower giving superpowers'.

just as miguel tlanextli, ikal is a character full of metaphors. his name means 'spirit', and his presumed family name is typical to yucatán and is compound. according to the interpretation, it's comprised of two stems, 'yellow' and 'stone'. he is of human race, but is also a manifestation of several gods: quetzalcoatl, kukulkan (both are variations of the omnipotent seprent-ish creator of the world), and yum kaax, an important figure in the mayan pantheon. his most distinctive feature is the upper lip tattooed with black paint. he also wears a rather specific hairstyle with two thin braids hanging along both sides of his face. as for the jewelry, his daily embellishments are his two piercings and an earring made of jade sphere and gold hoops (put on less frequently), resembling a globe. he can sometimes be seen wear a gold chain, which is in fact a golden snake with eyes and tongue also made of jade, swirled around his neck.

three extra random facts:

1) he keeps his own pearl farm on a mexican island cozumel;

2) the shade of his eye color is specifically defined as 'rainforest green';

3) he's extremely good at deciphering ancient glyphs.

OC Update: Chiara and Ikal

Redesigns for Chiara and Ikal! Overall, I'm happy with them.

Chiara's outfit is subject to change, but it has the general vibe I'm going with for her. The little ghost you see is because in her story, her electrical powers make any nearby spirits stronger, kind of how modern ghost hunters suspect electrical grids empower spirits. (Thanks, Ghost Adventures!) I have an idea for her late story outfit too that I might attempt to make.

I'm really pleased with Ikal. I think he has a unique look now, while still being recognizably himself in my head. I might adjust the colors of his side-head-fins but this feels like a great step forward. He was the character I was struggling the most to translate over to an original world but I think he's in a good spot right now.

I might try making Ollie and Slava soon, but the long hair options in Hero Forge... aren't my favorites. Arzyna and Sigurd will likely be receiving designs in HF soon, along with a few other OCs for a different story I've been kicking around.
