accepting i like blogging a typing a lot so, perhaps ill loosely 'live blog' my thoughts on various mcyt things im trying to watch. im basically just jumping on a lot of random guys i have never seen before bc i dont really know what i like at this point lol

hermitcraft s9 & s8 - after watching the Life series i thought ya know, ill watch the new HC to see whats up. etho wasnt playing s9 yet so i watched bdubs s9 and kinda liked it (tho i find myself to be less into his style of commentating now). i decided to try watching Grian s9 as well since i didnt mind what i saw of him either. his buildings are cool and s9 being new, its made me realize they hadnt really had a chance to do all the... rping stuff ive seen implied about season 8 (but again idk how much is exaggerated by fandom there so).

but having caught up on s9 i wanted to watch, i decided to go backwards. im kinda jumping around perspectives aaand it made me realize. while i really dont care about the rping they apparently often fall into during the newer seasons... i loooove the beginning. like, the start of s9 throwing everyone in blind, starting from scratch, scrambling to figure out what to do. thats fun. idk, i just loved the energy of the start of s9! and s8 too. and i think thats also where i love the proxy mod, i like the proxy when its there but not like... always constant, and having it for the first episode/beginning is a nice reminder of everyone's energy and vibes. like youre meeting everyone for the first time again. and i think the reset of a server and needing to start over is the most pure form of fun all of them have with each other.

so while i may keep up w s9 for a bit i feel i may fall off it unless etho continues and is consistent... and i may just slowly work my way backwards until i hit a season that isnt as full of rp as these more recent ones. s8 is also one i bet ill fall out of too tbh but i will keep jumping around episodes too.

hermitcraft s6 - since i didnt mind grian all too much, i wanted to see what he was like when he first joined. also because, etho and bdubs have been around SO much longer, i felt intimidated trying to start from their beginnings... and with s6 being grian's first, i felt maybe itd be less abt the rp stuff because hes newer and all. im about 20 eps in and i like it. theres a little bit of that 'i dont know everyone super well' awkwardness to some extent lol but i find him amusing at times. i wouldnt say grian is a fave of mine, but surprisingly i dont mind him even if he has more energy than who i typically prefer lol. idk how much i will keep up with his series though but its been good seeing what hes like.

Additionally with his interactions with others- i have certainly enjoyed scar and impulse but i dont think i have the energy to watch them fully. in any other case i thought id find scar 'annoying' with his um. well, constant dying and lack of awareness. but hes got such a good personality, and is legitimately funny alongside it and others. seeing him in small doses with grian is nice and i like him quite a bit tbh!

other things - while i watched the Life series i enjoyed some others' povs a bit. i like scott and joel, and wanted to see if i would enjoy their other stuff. i do like scott, but i have yet to watch a series of his i was super into... admittedly the first thing i jumped into with both of them was After Life, and while i think the mods are neat, i just couldnt stay hooked. i already kinda said why in the tags of my last post so i wont really repeat. i know they have a few other series but Empires didnt intrigue me either so! idk. may just have to be the Life series for these two.

i want to give some others a try, so if anyone Old School out there kinda leans on 'less rp more casual fun' and has some people theyd reccomend watching... lemme know!

I thought a lot about this question and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 answers which are posted here in experienced order:

Daredevil 1x10 Nelson v. Murdock - i rewatched all of daredevil with my roommate during the quarantine part of the spring semester and had a blast. foggy finds out matt’s secret (being a superhero, his super senses). the Betrayal of it all. the way they show them ugly crying instead of like letting out a single man tear. fuck. “then again, maybe i would. what the hell do i know about matt murdock?” the cutting back and forth between their present day fallout and their meeting and developing friendship. it’s SOOO much it’s like Specifically Crafted for maximum pain and i eat it right up. foggy: are u even really blind? the show: *immediately cuts to a flashback of them meeting and foggy learning that matt is blind* foggy: was anything ever real between us? the show: *cuts to the two of them thick as thieves and making plans to form their law firm together and matt almost revealing his secret*. matt: this city needs me in that mask, foggy. foggy: maybe you’re right. maybe it does. but i don’t. i only ever needed my friend. the show: *cuts to them starting their law firm together.* also the scene where ben is in the hospital with his wife and we see her forget him on screen. ouch. a lot happens in this episode but tbh i just focus on the Friendship Falling Out. it reads even better if you think they’re in love with each other, as i obviously do. man daredevil Hurts.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars 7x12 Victory and Death (series finale) - the panic in rex and ahsoka as they have to get off this LITERAL sinking ship filled with enemies that used to be their brothers, who had just within the week painted their armor, one of the few things they can customize to express themselves, to resemble her, who they know would never willingly turn against them, and a fucking wackjob killer wildcard. the growing tension and cornering is fantastic. when ahsoka takes off rex’s helmet and he cries because he’s facing killing his brothers. the cute droid squad. i’m always a sucker for non-humans. the fact that they had special orders to kill ahsoka, who was no longer a jedi, from palpatine, meaning he thought she was a threat still and she IS. she’s up there with obi-wan in terms of attachments anakin has. the action is truly epic (though i do have to say the maul ahsoka fight was better). the fact that ahsoka and rex didnt just leave the clones there and they dug graves for them. the shot of ahsoka in her cloak in front of all the helmets painted like her face on sticks will be burned into my brain forever. vader coming down to the planet himself much later and finding and igniting one of the sabers he as anakin LITERALLY remade for her. just the image of vader holding a blue lightsaber is going to be the death of me. a literal representation of who he was. it’s too much. it’s too much for me to deal with. i started crying as i was typing this. also when you look closely you can see his eyes through the helmet lens. it hurts man. (possibly) morai flying away as this happens. man, star wars can be good.

Supernatural 6x20 The Man Who Would Be King - ok so i know the question said year but man has show really defined my like last two months. as for this eps specifically, im predictable is what this says. i like tragedy and unhappy endings. i like gay angel. i like self-aware narration. i like reflection. i like the moment before it all goes wrong. this episode is the literal point of no return for s6 cas and i want to scream. it’s like when anakin cuts off mace windu’s hand. “but cas, youll call right? if you get into real trouble?” “and the worst part was dean, trying so hard to be loyal.” “for a brief moment, i was myself again.” “wonders never cease, they trusted me again.” “of course, i didn’t realize it at the time, but it was all over, right then, just like that.” “the big lie, the winchesters still buy it. the good cas, the righteous cas, and long as they still believe it, you get to believe it.” “it sounds so simple when you say it like that. where were you when i needed to hear it? / i was there. where were you?” “you know the difference between you and me? i know what i am. what are you, castiel? what exactly are you willing to do?” “i believe it’s what you would call a... tragedy from the human perspective... i’m asking you, father, one last time. am i doing the right thing? am i on the right path? you have to tell me. you have to give me a sign, because if you don’t... i’m gonna do whatever i... whatever i must.” like are you kidding me. not to talk about star wars even more but like. when rots novel said “the blurred line between our best and our worst” hhhhh. this makes me crave a 150k fic from cas’ perspective in season 6 where we see all the terrible things he’s doing for his well intentioned plan and how he keeps digging himself in deeper and deeper until it’s too late. and if i had the skill and time i would write it. alas.

runner ups: billions 5x05 contract (the epic lows of hearing taylor say they wanted to fire winston, the epic highs of 4d chess theory. the shitpost memes i immediately made. did not make the list as i made it a requirement that i actually enjoy the content in my winners list). supernatural 15x18 despair (lost out to man who would be king because i Care Cas, but i will never get over cas going out the way he came into this show; calling dean OUT on his bullshit).

9. Best month for you this year?

bro who can even remember the months. ok i just looked at my calendar and i guess i’ll say may. i finished up my spring semester the week before. clone wars finale aired then and billions season 5 started airing which was a “fun” time. had a job. things were alright.

leslie-- what do you think of the first two episodes of season 6? tbh im trying to not be really disappointed... but i am. I just feel like they are not up to the same standard of schitts creek that I've come to know and love. I also feel like I'm in the minority regarding ep 2 and how supposedly "funny" it was. I thought it was one of the worst episodes they've ever put out. It felt forced and v "try-hard". IDK :// what are your thoughts/what have you thought of s6 so far?? xx

first of all, you’re certainly entitled to feel however you feel about the season, and i doubt there’s anything i can say that’s really going to change that tbh. and you’re def not alone in that opinion either, as i have seen other people both in my inbox and elsewhere who seem to feel similarly to you, if that’s any kind of comfort.

i do think it’s pretty clear from my posts that i did enjoy the ep, and while yes there’s a whole lot of secondhand embarrassment that goes hand in hand with watching it, i did also think it was ultimately both very funny and very sweet. but you’re certainly not required to agree with me on that, and not every episode can be a favorite anyway. there are going to be eps that all of us like or dislike more than others, and that’s totally fine.

as for the season overall, yes, i’m enjoying it so far, though of course it’s hard to judge a whole season on two eps. but i like the glimpses that we can see so far of where the show is going as a whole. i’ve definitely seen some complaints elsewhere that the episodes feel like filler, which i wholeheartedly disagree with. i think it’s pretty clear that they’re setting up the threads of the plots that will continue throughout the rest of the season, which is how this show has always operated. not every episode is filled to the brim with Major Plot Points, but there are important things that happen in every episode to push the story forward or build our understanding of the characters in a way that leads to the eventual climax of the season. think about last year’s second episode for instance. in “love letters,” we’ve got moira just back from bosnia and hung up on john’s love letters to “another woman,” alexis and ted talking about mementos of past relationships, and david and stevie being held up at the store. plot-wise, none of those are anything that really has a major effect on anything else further down the road (except maybe the robbery, which causes them to install security cameras at the store, which leads to the ending of “roadkill” with ted and alexis, but that’s a pretty minor plot point all things considered). but it does give us better understanding of where the characters are in the season. particularly, we get glimpses of ted and alexis trying to work through their past and build a stronger future together, which is all part of how alexis eventually agrees to go to the galapagos, and we see how moira’s experience with the crows film has reinvigorated her desire to rebuild her career, which of course is part of what leads to her devastation in the final scene of “life is a cabaret.” and i feel like these first two episodes of s6 are doing much the same, though obviously we now have the benefit of context for s5 because we know how it ends, and we don’t have that here. but so far we’ve clearly got johnny’s desire to continue expanding the motel business, stevie’s desire to step away, david and patrick’s excitement about their wedding, moira’s once-again renewed desire to jump start her career, and alexis’s struggle to balance her relationships with both ted and her family with her fledgling pr career. all of that certainly feels like it’s important to where the season as a whole is going, so while the individual stories being told in each episode may not ultimately be connected to anything down the road, what it’s telling us about the characters certainly is. and that’s how pretty much every episode of the show has always operated. we get these little glimpses throughout all the episodes, and there are a few bigger reveals spread along the way, and so far i feel like this season is doing exactly that. it feels the same to me as it always has in that sense.

i don’t know what your particular situation is with this, anon, but in general, i know that there are a lot of people for whom this is their first time watching the show slowly instead of all in one go, and i do think that that changes the experience a bit. personally, i love watching them week by week, with everyone yelling about the same episode at the same time, rewatching and finding new things to focus on, speculating about where things will lead, etc., but it is still a different experience to bingeing it, and i just wonder how much that plays into the enjoyment for some people. for one, it gives you more time to have to think about episodes you didn’t like as much–when you binge the show, you breeze right past them and largely forget about them by the time you’re three more episodes down the road, but this way you’re forced to sit with it for a week, which i think can potentially increase the feelings of dissatisfaction. but also, if you’re a binge and rewatch kind of person, you get to the end, and then when you rewatch the earlier eps you have a different perspective on them because you can now see where they’re going. it’s a lot harder to see where eps are leading before you have the ending for context, and so even though i obv think the threads are there, i can see how the open-endedness of it might feel dissatisfying to some people in the meantime too.

i’ll end with this thought: if you ask most people their top five episodes of the show, how many of those are going to be episodes from the start of a season? yes, you might get one or two on some of those lists–”pregnancy test” in particular is one of the early-in-the-season eps that i think gets a lot of love–but by and large i think most people’s lists are going to be populated with episodes from the middles and ends of seasons because you have to build up to the kinds of pay-offs we get in episodes like “grad night” or “meet the parents” or “open mic” that make them so enjoyable. so the fact that you don’t absolutely love these two episodes so far isn’t necessarily all that surprising or unusual. there’s still twelve more chances for this season to change your mind, and i hope that you find that it does.

S1: fave = honestly most eps slap but i do rly like riding the lightning and derailed least = ig i dont rly remember a real rain that much (i would b able to tell u if i hadnt skimmed through it last night)

S2: fave: profiler, profiled or revelations feels standard but jkdfjd least: no way out part 2 franks evilution or whatever tf its called it just felt so goofy idk its one of my least fave finales too

S3: fave: seven seconds is a GOD tier episode also penelope ily least: damaged ?? i dont rly like rossi episodes n it feels stupid tht it went 20 years unsolved n they solved it in like 2 days fjkdkdjf

S4: fave: minimal loss is the blueprint captive episode least: unpopular opinion but demonology was SO bad case-wise i was so confused the whole time n still am tbh the only good part is the end snow scene w emily xx

S5: fave: 100 is the blueprint personal episode least: i dont rly remember a lot but wtf happened in reckoner i looked at pictures n read the description but i recognise NO one

Endeavour Fandom Meme

alright @bryndeavour tagged me in this literally five seconds ago but i wanna gush about endeavour immediately so

- Top 5 Episodes

Trove, Neverland, Prey, Canticle, Confection. Changes all the time tho (Icarus is not included bc while i really like it, it makes me genuinely depressed when i watch it. rip me)

- Seasons in Order of Preference

S2, S1, S5, S6, S4, S7, S3. Right so: season 2 interests me the most thematically and with the plot arc. Season 1 is just rlly consistently good even though it hasn’t produced any of my top 5, and same with season 5 - i think both of them are just consistently good without any standouts for me? Season 6 i think has a really cool vibe. season 4 is very good except i don’t particularly love Game - i would have said i disliked Harvest too, but I watched it recently for only like the second time and LOVED it so idk what was going on there. Season 7 i honestly think is really good, though i found a lot of problems with it in retrospect (treatment of women and the resolution of Ludo and Violetta’s storyline). Season 3 is WEIRD, because i LOVE Prey and quite like Arcadia. Now im gonna be controversial here: i’m not the BIGGEST fan of Ride. I didn’t like it the first time i watched it, then, since then every time i watched it i liked it more until the last time i watched it when i went back to not particularly loving it...? And i straight up don’t like Coda lmao, after the previous episode had a literal tiger, a shittily-executed bank heist that lasts for half the episode doesn’t really do it for me?

- Favourite Scene(s)

Tiger scene. Sorry to be cliche but tiger scene. The scene where Morse tries to get with Rosalind in Overture. Morse’s father’s death in Home. The ‘you’re not yellow, you’re just blue’ scene in Trove. The scene between Morse in Nick Wilding in Canticle. The LSD scene in Canticle (it’s just so fucking funny). The water-throwing scene in Muse. The fight scene in Passenger. The minefield scene in Colours. The ‘have you eaten?’ ‘of course’ ‘today?’ scene in Quartet. Morse and Isla’s kiss in Confection. The entire finale of Deguello. The scene between Morse and Ludo in Morse’s house in Oracle. Where Strange gets stabbed in Zenana. And my favourite scene in the whole show: the scene where Morse and Thursday are talking to Benny and Clyde in Neverland. Chills the whole time.

- Favourite Musical Piece or Moment

Miserere Mei, Deus in... i think Pylon - i love that piece of music. Jennifer Sometimes in Canticle is a bop. Hard Times from Lewis being in Passenger is a really nice callback. Dies Irae in Harvest is fun. Also, if it counts, i love All Along the Watchtower in the season 5 trailer (and i think it might be in Colours too?)

- Favourite Cinematography/Imagery (season, ep, whatever)

The entirety of Harvest and Canticle. Arcadia is cool - the lovely typical supermarket, House Beautiful, it all fits with the theme of the episode.

- Favourite Ensemble Character that isn’t Morse

oooooof... probably Shirley and George?? Strange is close, esp. in season 7.

- Favourite One episode Character

Eve Thorne. i would die for her. I like Anthony Donn but honestly he doesn’t have much to do in Ride and half of my love for him is cos of his actor, Samuel Barnett. Also Ellie Bagshot in Quartet - for the Foyle’s War crossover.

- Favourite Morse Look (season, ep, whatever)

The red sweater thing in season 3. The weird boiler suit in season 7. The schoolmaster look in Icarus.

- Biggest disappointment

It’s horrendously un-diverse. They should have got another main female character after Shirley left. And it doesn’t treat the women it has amazingly, either - especially Violetta in Zenana. And it wouldn’t hurt to have some more gay rep - a fair few of the episodes have a gay side character, usually one where you only find their sexuality out in one scene late-on. But there should be a gay main character. Grantchester managed it in its second episode! Even Lewis gave us extremely good fodder for bisexual Hathaway. I really thought Ludo would deliver - i was a fool in man’s shoes. Also, Coda - nothing could top the tiger for me, seemingly.

- Provide some Spicy Takes (on canon, fandom, anything)

I’ve already said it twice but, my dislike for Coda. Also, i know this Riles Up some people (cough cough) but there needs to be more canon gay rep, like there just needs to be.

ALSO - i’ll say this now - i love this fandom because there is never ever drama, and i want it to stay that way, but some of us just wanna watch Endeavour for the vibes, some of us wanna enjoy the wider universe, and both are okay and good! But what we shouldnt do is push people in the former group to watch IM or whatever and it can come across slightly as elitism. But enough of that.

I’m so glad to have found people who agree with me on Soa lmao Like I see many people who disliked s7 as a whole but they say the last four episodes were some of the best in the entire series😒,and I just can’t🤣Lol Idk maybe it is because I disliked Jax a lot and I couldn’t stand Gemma,and I didn’t care about Nero or Wendy!Even Lyla made disgusting jokes,I stated before I might not get Sutter sense of humor🤷‍♀️!Anyways many people think the ep of the sex montage was genius,like Jax could see a future with Winsome that day in the morning and at night Abel tells him Gemma killed Tara,the tragedy😒Sutter said something like that too when he explained Winsome😬and people is so emotional about those episodes Idk,it make me a little sad!I know people who hated Jax in s6 but felt really sorry for him in s7,I wish I could🤣maybe I’m weird🙃

I’m glad you found us 💕! I know, I still come across people who liked S7?? I’m like how?? I know a few people who cried when Jax died too 🤣. Unless you’re crying over the horrible CGI, I don’t get it lol. S7 was awful, Sutter absolutely destroyed every character. Even if you set aside the way the handled Tara’s death, it still was really bad! All of the guys were pushed to the background, there was nothing to like about Jax, most of the characters were annoying, and the arcs felt so forced or didn’t make sense. The humor definitely got worse! He has always had a inappropriate sense of humor, but most the jokes in the earlier seasons where actually funny?? Non of the jokes in S7 were funny! They were all super dark, gross, or just didn’t land. I know I talked about it before, but im still stuck on the Alex Enema joke. Like what?? Poor Kim had to deliver that! That sex montage was Sutter’s attempt at being edgy, I swear he just wanted to get a rep like GOT. He literally takes successful tv shows and just copies them lol. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s like “oh GOT always gets nominated for emmys and they have a lot of sex scenes, maybe if I have a lot of sex scene I’ll get an Emmy too 🤔.” Honestly the only good part about that season was when Gemma asked Abel if he knew what an accident was and he responds “do you?” 🤣. You’re definitely not weird, I didn’t give a shit about Jax in S7 at all!

THOUGHTS ON S7

fuck why do i do this to myself...okay this is srsly just me venting and coping, and it’s been a few days so im a bit calmer i guess?? anyway, this is fucking huge so im gonna talk about what i liked and hated about this season under the cut

okay so i can't fucking believe i got almost all of my predictions for s7 right, except the ones i really wanted to see sdfghgj fUCK! anyway...

hunk: honestly, the only good thing coming out of s7, along with broganes. im so happy that i got this prediction wrong, srsly. hunk got some awesome development and arc, i loved all of his moments, if only he had gotten this much focus on the previous seasons

veronica: wow..w O W i love this woman!! I was fucking right when i said the person lance was protecting was his sister and someone from the garrison. i love her, i love how smart she is just like her brother, i love how beautiful and strong she is, she’s a fucking sharpshooter like her lance, i just love her okay

keith:.........who the fuck was that person.......that is NOT my boy. but srsly, i love keith, he’s my second fav character, but this season he felt so off. he felt like some kind of robot on some parts, the way he snapped at hunk and just the way he treated lance. idk, just bad characterization. i’ll give him a break with how he treated hunk and allura when they were stuck in space bc he was kinda going mad so i get that i guess, and in the end, he did apologize to hunk, but the gameshow episode?? im sorry but wtf?! keith is the leader and at the end of that ep they had a big ass decision, almost life or death, and we can see keith was very quick to pick who would leave, in fact, he was the first one, but that reason he gave?? im sorry, but i completely reject that. keith knows it’s a very important decision and he wouldn't waste it on such a petty excuse like the one he gave. he chose lance for some reason, we don't know why but he did. so to me, what he said was a blatant lie. if he really hates lance that much he would have picked himself and left with the others, but he decided lance should be the one leaving. my two best guesses are

because keith trusts lance and knows he would find a way to get them back or something, also lance is his right-hand man

or because he knows lance is the one who misses earth the most

also het keith is my voltron nightmare, s1-s6 keith would kick ( kick..get it lmao) the shit out of s7 keith sdfghj. despite all of this, im actually really proud of him and how much he has grown into the leader role

adam:.....im gonna try and not talk too much on this but im just so pissed. i feel like crying. adam did not deserve that at all, i get what they were trying to do i guess, but it was such a shitty choice AND THEY KNEW/KNOW ABOUT THE ‘BURY YOUR GAYS’ TROPE AND STILL WENT WITH IT. and it was not a question of green light with lgbt, it’s pretty much proven, they just decided to kill him off. his death did nothing to the plot and to shiro’s arc. he had like 30 seconds of screen time and then dies in a horrible way. like a hero, but still horrible. if they didn't want to make adashi get back together fine, but at least they could’ve had shiro and adam get closure and a nice reunion. pidge got more fucking screen time mourning matt when she thought he was dead than shiro had with adam. it was so shitty, he deserved so much better. if they really wanted to cause shock factor they use sam or coleen to die. as just thinking about his fight with shiro, with him saying “dont expect me to be here when you get back” are you serious??! that just adds more to the pain

shiro: i just feel so sorry for him. he can't get a fucking break. like, im really happy that he wasn't just in the background and was part of this fight a lot, but his fight with sendak?? disappointing. im still bitter they had keith kill sendak. that was supposed to be shiro, it made the most sense due to their history in s1 and it would have been so fucking epic tbh. anyway, im finally warming up to his hair srdtfguyh but that arm is so fucking ugly im sorry it is. also?? how the fuck was he breathing when fighting sendak when the ship was still in space?? maybe im just dumb but like wtf?? anyway, i hope we get more of shiro and he gets THE FUCKING HAPPY ENDING HE DESERVES! LIKE THE FUCKING HAPPIEST ENDING EVER!

lance:........uuUGHGGGHHHHHHH *SCREAMS INTO THE VOID*. JEREMY HONEY I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH SEASON YOU WATCHED BUT IT SURE WASNT THE ONE I WATCHED. like??? where was the big emotional lance moment jeremy had such trouble recording?? where was lance and his sword?? and lance and the nice bonding with keith?? also the lance arc the reviews talked about?? did i miss it or??? I CANT FUCKING BELIEVE THAT FUCKING IVERSON GOT MORE DEVELOPMENT THAN LANCE WHAT?! and also,, can we maybe see something of lance that doesn't revolve around allura or him being called dumb?? probably not bc voltron hates lance. however! i loved his sharpshooter scenes and his moments with his sister. he was so ready to die, he’s so selfless im gonna cry. talking about his earth arc,, im...a bit disappointed..i was hoping they would focus more on him but no, however, at least he lost that arc to hunk, so im not that mad, imagine if it was pidge.. fucking no! and his family hug was beautiful i loved it so much

pidge: im happy she was more in the background this season, not bc hate her, i love pidge (she might be a fucking brat from time to time but i still love her) but because this has been holtron so far and it’s tiring. her reunion with her mom was adorable and her lil moment with keith was cute too

allura:...yeah she was another character victim of bad characterization for many reasons. first of all, she had NO reaction to finding out the altean colony was missing/gone. like none! the girl who has been mourning her planet and race for the past seasons showed no reaction to the last alteans missing...like wtf. also, voltron just fucking loves throwing her into a new guys arms every damn season. a/l is not a bad ship, i dont like it for various reasons, especially bc of the tropes it suffers, but if they developed it nicely, i could learn to like it, but they fucking ruin it. big time! allura showed no signs of reciprocating lance’s feelings for 6 damn seasons and now she’s fucking in love with him?! its such shitty writing!! they deserved better than this!! and i was fucking right that the time they took getting to earth would be the time she would “heal” and like lance back. it's such a forced pairing, the way they’ve written it at least. im so mad, and i bet my fucking money that they’ll kiss in s8. that was why they put so much focus on the lotura kiss, bc they are gonna parallel it with a/l...and i fucking bet the show is going to end with alteans living among them and allura being with lance, it's pretty fucking obvious.

the generals: yeah, hi, what the fuck was that?! they just...turned on each other. i fucking knew i shouldn't have trusted acxa when she was changing her mind so many times on who to trust back in s6. she obviously trusted the generals, and just turned on them...for what?? keith?? wtf?? yeah im fucking bitter and pissed. also!! apparently, ezor and zethrid were a couple!! that's cute-.. oh no they’re dead. i can't believe they had more romantic scenes than adashi did. THE GENERALS DESERVED A REDEMPTION ARC!! ALL OF THEM!! NOT JUST ACXA!! its just so shitty!! there's no way they survived that explosion, and even if they did!! it’s too late to introduce them in this new arc, like they don't fit anywhere now..this fucking sucks

animation: FUCKING BEAUTIFUL! IT WAS SO GORGEOUS! VOLTRON’S ANIMATION JUST KEEPS ON GETTING BETTER AND BETTER, unlike their writing...SO YEAH FUCKING KUDOS TO THE ANIMATORS!! the colors were beautiful, the scenery too! and the fight scenes were awesome! i especially loved the colors when the pilots were flying, it was gorgeous.

kosmo/cosmo: such a good boy, the best boy! every time he got hurt i got so worried and just flinched in my seat, he’s such a good boy protecting keith and i love their friendship

coran: always the gorgeous man! it's weird seeing him in the garrison uniform. speaking of it

the garrison: i fucking knew the garrison had something to do with the galra. i did like how they didn't went with the 80′s voltron choice and make them ignore the paladins. also,, i lowkey felt sad for the admiral in the end when she died. but her death was nothing compared to adam’s death.

the crushes/couples: ..i hate them so much. like so. damn. much. i already expressed my hate for a/l and how it's been handled, but kacxa?? really?! what the fuck is that! i’ll be honest, i didn't get many romantic vibes from them, maybe just a one-sided crush from acxa’s part, but since i don't trust the writers and showrunners at all, its very fucking likely they’ll make them canon. somehow, but they will. which is bullshit, because keith an acxa only interacted 4 times, two of those they were trying to kill each other! hey! remember when keith almost killed acxa for hurting lance in s3?? yeah?? well, apparently voltron doesn't! like they blink at each other and suddenly are in love?! WHAT! het keith was literally my biggest fear for voltron and they’re just going that way aren't they?? also, if i see someone else say that we only don’t ship kacxa bc she's a girl and that if she was a guy we would be shipping them like we do with klance, someone is gonna catch these hands. don't fucking dare compare kacxa with klance. like! i don't ship kacxa bc:

first i hc keith as gay (hes fucking gay coded lest be honest)

and second bc those two have no interactions that are something else besides fight scenes. they have no chemistry, no dynamic, no friendship..she could be a guy for all i care and i still wouldn't ship them. i don't ship keith and james or lance and nyma either, for the same damn reasons plus others.

but moving on, im actually glad they didn't make lance flirt with romelle, i really like their small friendship we saw, it was cute.

gameshow ep: i hated it. i hated it. it served no purpose to the plot besides humiliating lance, it was fucking out of nowhere, made no sense, didn't explain how the paladins ended up there..?? i find it fucking ironic how they had lance snap and say how he didn't like being called dumb constantly yet they still went with that. its like they acknowledge they do that but still do it. and the moment with the paladins telling them to kill lance or wtv..yeah they can go fuck themselves..that was not funny at all, and it broke my heart. no one in the team deserves lance, in fact, im gonna buy the rights to lance’s character so they can stop treating him like shit. however, the only scene i really liked of that ep was them choosing who would leave. their reasons were pretty sweet- until keith ruined it lmao. but yeah i hated that ep

their sacrifice in the last episode: so i was also right with sendak being the main villain this season it was pretty obvious. and that scene in the last ep, where the paladins are taking the other robot to space or something and you just see them in their seats, with the light taking over them and keith saying “it’s been an honor flying with you guys” with that emotional music and then the lions separating and each of them falling and crashing into each of their “environment”?? yeah it was beautiful and i almost cried

klance: ...it’s dead. but not really. it’s dead in canon, but i’ll always love them and ship them. no matter what. voltron ruined their relationship to me. i don't know where they're trying to go with them as a relationship, not in a romantic way bc it’s pretty obvious it won't be canon, but just in general. they act amazing as teammates and paladins, lance is an amazing right-hand man to keith, but then as friends?? it doesn't feel like they are. all the progression they had in s3 just vanished and they’re back to bickering, at least from keith’s part. like..they give us moments where it seems there's something there but then at the same time, it isn't?? it just upsets me so fucking much. they were the relationship that made the most sense, they had scenes that paralleled other couples, the a/l scene in ep1s6 was such an obvious parallel that proved that the bonding moment was indeed romantic, they had such romantic moments that even ppl who don’t watch the show can agree and see something there, even kids, who are the target demographic btw, saw something between them but voltron just says fuck logic and goes with the forced het ships. they would be such amazing rep along with adashi, and they are literal soulmates, they complete each other in every way it’s crazy. but it seems we only have fanon, and honestly, as much as it hurts, as long as a have klance fanon content i can live. and so can the ship lol. however..this season also showed their trust in each other, bc like i said, we see that they work amazingly as teammates but as friends, it seems to be lacking. keith chose lance to lead the mission even though shiro and krolia were right there, and he trusts him enough with his life like we saw in scenes of lance having his back or guiding him. i personally think they consider each other friends but im sure that it won't be explored anymore and we’ll only see them in missions following orders. i mean..klance is klance, i accept what i can get, but still, it would be nice to see them act as friends and develop that more

in conclusion:

this season was bad.tbh, it’s only a tiny bit higher than s4 in my opinion, bc i enjoyed the plot more. the coalition plot was very boring to me, but still, i didn't like s7. mainly for the bad characterization, forced het ships, adam’s death and lance’s treatment in the gameshow ep. i was with very high hopes for this season until the reviews, and im sure the last season will be as bad as s7

bad stuff: it was fast-paced, felt weird the fact that the earth battle wasn't the big epic last fight, lacked bonding between the paladins (which should have been used in the ep they're stuck in space), had too much forced het ships, destroyed relationships whether they were romantic or platonic ones, the fights were kinda boring at times, we were queerbaited, bad characterization, bad character treatment and huge lack of logic and sense.

good stuff: amazing animation, great soundtrack, the voice acting was awesome as always, cool character designs, especially for the garrison team pilots, broganes flashbacks that i love so freakin much, hunk and keith moment!! my little heith side is so happy, and awesome hunk moments and arc.

also!! some predictions for s8, but very few bc i have no idea what now: haggar will return and she’ll be the big main villain. i wanna say that the rift creatures will return bc they’re fucking important to the plot but voltron and logic don't match so i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't appear. lotor could return somehow?? and if he does, it will end in a fight with lance. we’ll see more of the druids. we’ll see more of the tiny garrison team, and flashbacks of the og paladins. keith and james will talk, idk about what but s7 left that weird moment between them. haggar has the alteans or some of them. lance won't use his sword bc voltron says fuck lance stan lives. the klance relationship will only get weirder and off bc voltron and dreamworks need to do anything to make those boys look less gay and in love. the thing lance said about keith being the future is foreshadowing for keith becoming the new galra emperor with acxa beside him, or him and her defending the universe in space away from everyone else. allura will confess to lance or something and they’ll kiss and get together (omg my brain just thought that what if the big emotional lance scene is something happening to allura and lance crying and blah blah blah het shit happens and they get together bc what else could happen that would get lance so emotional?? his family is fine, omg what if haggar kills one of lance’s family members wtf why do i hurt myself this way, no please) and she’ll stay on earth with him with the alteans living among them. something bad will happen to shiro bc they can't give him a break. it’s going to be shit.

but i won’t find out cause im not watching that shit. im just gonna live in fanon, where the generals get a redemption arc, allura and lance get some closure and move on, allura bonds with romelle about altea, keith is asian, lance has a cool arc about self-love and leadership, adam is alive and very much in love with shiro and they both take a vacation around the universe, klance is more in love with each other than ever, lance’s insecurities are dealt with and people realize how smart he is, and hunk and lance become best friends again. i love fanon. as soon as i graduate from animation school im making that voltron sequel where all of this i just pointed out happens and more. also the only het couples allowed are krolia and texas and hunay.

still no art rn bc i got a bit burnt out w all the drawing around double life- so im just still binging s7 videos aaaand well i finished grian's s7 series lol. i definitely watched nearly all the episodes i think unlike s6 where i jumped around. im still going back and watching other pov's of s7 though, itll just take me a bit. but, the consensus:

i watch grian's s6, s7, most of s8 and what there is of s9. i had started s8 after watching s9 (which i watched first) but i stopped when i decided i wanted to go all the way back to 6 instead, but also cuz i wasnt super into the plot heaviness of that season. i maaay go back to s8 and finish it since its so short but im not sure, it still wasnt hitting like s6 or s7 to me.

my Onion right now is, s6 is one i may go back and watch more of- i watched grian bc i wanted to get to know him more and see if i enjoyed his style. he was also new that season so i feel like it was a more skewed perspective since he didnt know everyone well and wasnt hanging out with many other people yet? but again idk who i may watch from that season (i enjoy seeing people interact the most tbh so i am not sure who i may jump to). but once i got into s7 i can say it has by far been a favorite and was very thrilled to see grian interacting more consistently with other members too- especially those i wanted to watch that season like etho and bdubs. i will probably go and watch etho myself too, and i watched a few eps of bdubs to tie up some loose ends. overall s7 had so many things in it that made me want to go check out other videos and while i may, im pleased that grian took more time to go out and about to see other people's bases and the events that made people go out more. the turf war, base swap, and secret bases were all key events that i found quite amusing and i felt they were all wrapped up quite well too. it seemed like everyone had better ideas of what they wanted to do and carry through in terms of stuff to plan. i was also wondering when the proxy mod came in so glad i got that covered by the end of that season lol. which brings to me my remaining thoughts into s8 and proxy mod--

so s8 sits very different w me now after watching 6 and 7. obviously those two were longer, and im kinda surprised to remember s7 took place during covid because it really didnt feel like it?? it seemed like they were all very productive, and i guess when your whole thing is playing inside on minecraft then, it wouldnt be too affected lol. but still, surprised i didnt see any clear hiccups even if they tried to keep that out of the videos on purpose. anyways, s8 and proxy mod.... when i watched s9 and the life series around the same time i was intrigued by the proxy mod as i hadnt ever seen any smps just using it constantly. for Life it made sense for sure, but working my way backwards in the HC seasons i guess i can see the pros and cons from my perspective...

i got quite accustomed to the uh, "old style" of videos with s 6 and 7. you know, recording on your own and hopping into calls when you wanted to interact further but otherwise typing in chats. i didnt realize how.... hm. different that is for the viewing experience. it allowed me to focus far more on the person im watching and makes certain interactions more amusing when its limited in chat. Proxy is convenient, and i do think its fun to hear people get closer or farther, or to surprise them. but the near constant of it being on kinda makes it feel like a never ending voice call, and i dont feel like (at least from grian's perspective as its the only i watched) it gives the person time to focus as much sometimes? and it doesnt always feel like the creators are actually addressing the audience anymore, as they are often focused on talking to those around them. its hard to say, bc i think part of it has to do with it being new, so everyone wants to use it a lot and get used to it. and i wouldnt say it ruins the videos either. but its a whole different feeling!

i think its nice to have the creators have their own space to commentate and then go into calls to talk w people because it better seperates the content. i do think the proximity part of proxy mod is fun and great for shenanigans. i think it being constantly on can hinder some things, and i hope to see more separation/muting in the future maybe...
