But the thought was appealing.

Seiroke rather quickly pieces together what is about to happen when he sees the the stables in their line of sight and the purposeful stride Soma has towards it. Is he aware of the hose? Yes. Is he aware of Soma's passion for horse-riding? Yes. Does Seiroku share that passion? No.

But Seiroku is an actor. If he could choke down his initial blood-thirsty rage without it being detected, surely he can deal with a horse.

A horse that he's heard only likes Soma.

It IS a beautiful horse, one would have to be blind not to see that. He would happily admire it from afar. That does not help cover the fact that Seiroku's not sure how well it will like HIM. At least being with Soma will offer some aid. But it also does not help the fact that Seiroku is far from familiar with horseback riding. Give him a ship, a boat, hell even a barely together raft and he could do that. But horseback riding? He hasn't done that in....many decades. And he can't say the memories were fond. Actually, they were the exact opposite of fond: embarrassing and he could count the times he ever had on a single hand. Even if he lost a few fingers he still could count the number of times on one hand.

It was two. Two times in his entire lifespan and all when he had still been human. One of which had been an obvious petrified Seiroku held captive more than riding the horse, and the second a spooked horse that had thrown him off. Needless to say, Seiroku had opted to stay with the water or simply ride in something pulled by horses rather than the horses themselves.

Blue eyes shift to Soma and then to the horse. He knows how much this means to Soma. He can do this. ( Why did THIS bring a spark of long dead fear back out of all things? Give him several bushi clans to wipe out and he'd be unafraid. Apparently give a horse and he'll be at a standstill. ) He wants Soma to enjoy himself though. If that meant a horseback ride, then so be it. Oh the things done for love!

Seiroku joins Soma, although he's rather purposeful in keeping Soma between the two of them. Sorry for turning you into a human shield, darling. " .... He won't mind me being with you, will he? " Seiroku asks after a moment of watching Soma pet the beautiful coat. At least his voice manages to come out casual if a bit inquisitive.
