been thinking about what i'd do with rick and morty if i got my grubby little hands on their IP

#random thoughts #guess what motherfuckers it's blue man time #okay so im not gonna get into like. worldbuilding and character choices and plot rn #im just gonna mention one thing i think is cool #i think it'd be cool if every member of the smith family had a designated literary theme?#like how in the early seasons there was a little bit of a focus on morty liking fantasy as a contrast to rick's sci-fi bullshit #and i think this would be a good basis for episodes focusing on one particular family member #so morty's obviously soft fantasy and folklore. jerry would be hard fantasy as a true counter to rick's sci fi bullshit #beth i think would be thrillers? not slashers necessarily but mysteries and crime noir #specifically as a contrast to the drab life you would expect from a working mother #also drama. medical dramas specifically but maybe a bit of romance in there?#summer's a blend of teen movies and young adult sci fi (when she gets more into adventuring)#also slasher. girlie is final girling it UPPP #and then rick! who you think would be science fiction until you see the central finite curve and realize #oh. he's eldritch horror.#i want to think more on beth and summer because i want to find genres which really CLICK with them

I'm genuinely so excited for gencon, it made me do my homework early and I'm gonna do my exam today. So that it won't risk getting in the way of gencon.

Things I'm going to do that I'm most excited about:

Combat Classes for: sword, knife, longsword, saber, kendo, And rogue stage fighting

Introduction to dice making class

Panel on Eberron With Keith Baker AND it'll give out a commemorative d20 as part of it

Panel with critical role artists (not the players themselves, but people who work on the comics and such)

TAZ book launch event for the latest comic book WITH copies of said comic book handed out as part of it

McElroy TTRPG liveplay panel

Signing & selfie with the McElroys (Minus Justin lol)

And those are just the panels!!! Not even all of them. I also have panels for making a hollow book box, making a dice set bracelet, and a panel on gamemaster & writing (specifically bridging between being a gamemaster and being a writer, which is great for me, the writer who wants to gm at some point)

There's also going to be the merch room (so many DIIIIIICE) and assorted other open things. The biggest tabletop gaming convention in North America!!!!!!! I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!!

Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!

Trains, in person announcements and websites all so utterly fucked that we've just gone home

#gamer txt.#funny thing is i think the strikes have stopped #listen right 1st train. says it delayed by like 7 minutes thats fine ill wait #then says its delayed 4 minutes i go oh good! although its been about 4 minutes and its not here yet. still it must be close #its well past the time the board says the train is coming at and theres no train still #i check the board again and the train is gone. the 2nd train is listed as the first and mine is nowhere to be seen #2nd train comes in half an hour and id miss my connecting train if i got that not to mention be really late to school #mums too far away to pick me up and take me to the next station and stepdad wouldnt make it in time to catch my connecting train either #look up at the board again and now the 2nd train is cancelled next train is in an hour an 10 #my connecting train wouldve already arrived and left at the next station by now #then theres the real bullshit bc everwhere so far is unfortunately pretty standard #my first train arrives 20 minutes late no one can tell if its the first train or the 2nd one miraculously not cancelled?#ticket person comes out says its the first train says the 2nd train is cancelled bc it was stuck behind them right cool #says they dont know if this train is still gonna run or if its cancelled now. less cool #driver rushes out says they dont know either and heads right into the ticket office #we just wanna go sonewhere #announcement chimes saying that the train currently present is now cancelled #stepdad rocks up almost at the same exact time #he looked into my connecting train options says itd take me about 2 hours to get to school if i got them #so now we're home and im already done for the day #oh yeah and none of the websites show any delays or cancellations on them but who can be surprised anymore when they keep doing that

I ACTUALLY ENJOY IT!!!#i went by a sports thrift shop and s #got some cheap ones for $20 #(brand is chicago which reddit says is ehhh okay enough for just trying it out)#but theyre in nice condition #wanting to try it out bc skating would be a nice way to get around on occasion and everything #like make it easier to get to/from bus stops when i wanna take the bus #and i saw these cool convertable ones that switch to normal shoes #(flanuerz i think theyre called)#but theyre Big Money Dollars and wanna make sure im actually gonna u know. be able to use em #i wore the skates for just a min in the shop and didnt fall or anythjng but sure didnt feel steady #but its the first time ive tried skating in like over a decade #i hopefully WONT BREAK ANYTHING!!! :D #i didnt buy any safety gear cause i wont be doing anything outdoors yet but i Debated It #like. would i look like a fucking dork being fully geared up at a roller rink? idk

#rae rants #my back hurts from having to lean down to put the dough on the pan;;;#i just have to ice about 1/4 of the sugar cookies and i'll be done... but idw do it rn cuz my back is killing me.#i have to figure out where to put the peanut butter cookies (currently cooling) bc Space...#i have never had him misbehave this bad. he took a frosted cookie (that was out cuz it was drying) and threw it on the floor #and then ate all its legs off. theres still frosting on the tile...#it was a reindeer i forgot to mention that and i only had 5 of those turn out correctly so i was even madder lol #i do think i have a problem of coating shit too much. like a recipe will be like 'make sure its completely coated' so i do but...#my end result always looks so so so different than how its supposed to. and this goes for both my snickerdoodles and how much sugar i #put on the pb cookies. oops. my bad.#also... relatedly. i slipped on one of Kami's toys yesterday and the only reason i didnt get hurt was cuz my right elbow hit this #futon thing i use as a chair. before the rest of my body hit the floor. so. my arm kinda hurts from the jolt.#AND i've been having real bad carpal tunnel the last week. im a mess man...#and my sister literally just told me LAST NIGHT that she'll have her kids for xmas eve so i have to get everything done like. now.#and i have to hang up my bras to dry so i can shower and buy dog food and icing and kitchenware for my sis and presents for my niece #and i have to pick out an outfit for eve now and so on... i'm so busy;;;;;;#AND. I ALMOST FORGOT. I HAVENT SMOKED IN 2 DAYS CUZ ITS SO COLD OUT THAT I HAVE TO WEAR 6 LAYERS TO GO OUTSIDE FOR MORE THAN 2 MINS.#im gonna layer up in a minute here but. i need some time for my back to like. stop hurting.
