Why am I clarifying this? To justify her relationship w everyone being “she loves him”…

Shared traits? Will kiss everyone’s scars and will scold if they’re reckless (often) and/or refuse to be healed.

Time: Man is roughed up but he’s not always completely stoic. Nyru? She’s into that shit. She probs tried to heal the scar on his eye (and failed… and cried). She’s especially soft w Time. She likes to keep him company, be it in silence or rambling about something. Lil gremlin follows around tired gremlin. I like to think they can joke around and that makes her feel close to him. Poly ship w Malon? Hell yeah.

Twilight: The man, the lad. First Link she met so, first Link she gets comfortable around. Always manages to steal his pelt, it’s just comforting (and funny) to her. Will hold his hand and do the arm swing thingy while walking. Will scratch his head in hopes of getting the dog leg movement. The accent has her on the floor. Probs the one she talks to the most. Loves to pet and cuddle wolfie and died of embarrassment when she found out it was Twi.

Legend: Rat man. Nyru doesn’t mind his snarky attitude (though sometimes comments may hurt) and can actually have playful banter, but for the most part, she lets it slide. She likes to talk and ask him about magic. Likes to get him flustered. Any soft moments with him are greatly treasured.

Warriors: Wary of him at first. Military man? Can’t be good… but he is. Pretty boy gets her flustered. All over him for his field medic training. They share tips. He’s probs the one that can teach her small things to keep herself safe if there’s a fight. Probs bond over soldiers betraying them/being shit.

Wild: As the most prone to injury, Nyru is all over him all the time, asking him to stop being reckless... but will most likely join him on shield surfing and be equally reckless. Nyru is an ok cook, she likes to sit by him and learn. Especially potion making. Man can’t leave the pot unattended, she’s throwing random shit in there to make things (mostly dubious in nature). Will try to braid his hair.

Hyrule: Healing magic? All over him. Asking how he does it, how it works. Probs share lots of talks. Likes to go exploring with him as long as it’s not deep in a cave… she probs tried to pretend it was totes ok the first time… until they ran into a skulltula… Rulie had to fight it w Nyru clinging to him and crying. Probs bond over fairies.

Sky: Cliche? Probably. Do I care? No. Absolute cuddle buddies. Seeks him out for it. Nyru doesn’t have great stamina either, so she hangs back with him. Finds out he just jumped off sky islands? Why, how, teach me. The group pillows. Both kind but scary when pissed (though Sky can do more damage).

Wind: They pull pranks together. A weird mix of big sister yet also kinda parental? He probs also finds funny just how easily she can pickpocket things. They see how many things they can take from the others before getting caught (tho they probs don’t mess with Time’s or Legend’s stuff cuz that’s scary) Two gremlins.

Four: Man works with fire and metal, she probs finds that scary but fascinating. Though he’s a very skilled blacksmith, she’s still fussing over checking him for burns. Probs the braincell for her too.

ok breaking my silence...people that say that the monologue “wasnt necessary for byler” just have to stop viewing it through a purely byler lens because imo it was actually necessary for el’s arc, it was a way for her to finally realize she wasn’t actually in love with mike and that his verbal expression of ily to her was empty if she couldn’t feel it from his actions and/or their past moments together (which is why none of their memories together except for their first meeting came up in her head). she had to hear the words from him once and for all so that she could come to the conclusion that “oh, i thought this was what i wanted? why isn’t it making me feel as happy and fulfilled as i thought i would? so i really am not actually in love with him and neither is he?”. thats why after she loses the fight and attempts to revive max, she recalls her memories with her and how max taught her to be her true self without needing mike’s validation (and every other man in her life really) then she probably already put two and two together and came to the decision of letting herself go from the restraints of her relationship with mike, proving that she really didn’t need him anymore 👍

this is also why i think el’s perspective in the script (if we ever get it) is more important because whether or not mike was being genuine in the monologue, im 100% certain it was never meant to be taken positively by el so we still win either way 🛌

Strength can manifest in a variety of ways, not just physically. Kotoko had a strong determination, for example. Mikoto had a powerful way with people. She showed solid self control and willpower. He held to strict deadlines and routines. She maintained a sharp intelligence. He upheld an unshakeable resolve.

Also, they were both ridiculously physically strong.

The pair came to this realization around the same time. They’d gotten a taste of the others’ power when clashing in the interrogation room, but it had begun suddenly and ended just as quickly. This time was different. They stood in the center of the panopticon, with the echoing space to themselves. As Kotoko swung a punch toward Mikoto, and he caught her against his forearms, they had a moment to gauge the other’s muscle. 

Kotoko stared into his eyes, which had a different sort of awareness to them now. He’s more coordinated, she thought, he must not be the same one I faced before. He’s leaning on the strength in his arms -- he’s not using his legs to their fullest potential. It doesn’t matter, given the raw force of his blows. Has he trained for fights, or just built his muscles in general? 

Mikoto stared into her eyes, returning her fiery gaze. Fuck, this lady’s strong.

She wound up again. He retaliated quickly. She shoved his back into the guard’s tower. He sidestepped her next attack. 

He didn’t really care why his fellow prisoner had come charging at him swinging, but she made sure he knew.

“The warden may not be able to administer punishments,” she said in between timed breaths, “so they entrusted me with that responsibility. This is justice, for the lives you’ve taken. You won’t be able to hurt anyone else.”

He broke into harsh laughter. “You’re one crazy motherfucker! You’re the only person hurting anyone.” He tried to grab her, but she slipped from his arms. His eyes narrowed, laughter dying away with unsettling speed. “But there’s no way in hell I’m letting you hurt me.”

Kotoko was struck by the way he said it. Her voice had shaken with the very same determination when putting herself between an innocent citizen and some creep. It was how she felt now, trying to keep his violent hands away from the other prisoners. There were children here, weak and scared. Es themself was just a child, and had already suffered his violence. She refused to let this villain cause any more pain. “I’m doing what needs to be done. You’re nothing but a murderous monster.” She swung her fist.

Mikoto caught her by the wrist, forcing her to look at the blood caked in her hand. He didn’t know whose it was, but it wasn't either of theirs. “You’re the fucking monster!” He shoved her backwards. “And I’m gonna kill you for it…!”

He didn’t know how she could think she was the hero in this whole situation. He was the one protecting someone else. 

Neither held back. Mikoto wheezed as her boots connected. Kotoko cringed as Mikoto landed a solid hit on her face. There was some shouting from the hallway. Their resolves hardened. Mikoto wasn’t going to let anyone else threaten him. Kotoko wasn’t going to let him threaten anyone else. They were strong, they reminded themselves. They had to end this now.

The two charged at one another. A moment before they were set to collide, they both cried out in pain. Blinding white light flooded the dark panopticon. They clutched their eyes, stumbling away from one another. A figure shoved through, planting himself between them.

“Stop this, both of you!” It was Kazui.

“Get outta my way,” Mikoto growled.

“This is not your concern,” Kotoko said, blinking in the light. 

The spotlight in the guard’s tower had been switched on, pointed directly at them. Kazui remained in place. “That’s enough. Look at yourselves, for god’s sake!”

Under the harsh light, they now saw the sort of state they were in. Mikoto’s uniform had torn in new places, blood seeping through. He could taste some in his mouth, too. Kotoko’s face was cut. Her leg ached. They stood covered in bruises, panting. 

“Go back to your cells,” Kazui commanded. “We’ll sort this out in the morning.”

Kotoko squared her shoulders. “There’s nothing to sort out. He’s a murderer. I won’t lose to him.”

“This bitch tried to kill me. I’m not letting her get away with it.”

“I don’t care.” Kazui said simply. “Call it a draw. You’ll both tear yourselves apart if you keep going.”

They continued staring at one another as if their gaze alone could take them to the ground, but neither moved to fight. 

Mikoto felt a pang of guilt. Lost in adrenaline, he didn’t realize how banged up he was. He thought of how much pain he’d experience in the upcoming days. The whole point was to save himself from harm. 

Kotoko cursed Kazui for interrupting her. As one of the forgiven, he was supposed to be on her side. Even if he wasn’t honorable enough to see her as an ally, she’d have to be the bigger person. She wouldn’t threaten him. 

Neither was happy about conceding, but couldn't think of a better option given their end goals.

Kazui remained between them as they stalked off to their respective cells.

“A temporary draw,” Kotoko muttered to Mikoto. She flashed a grin that felt more like an animal baring its teeth.

He returned the smile. “You won't be so lucky next time.”

but also mainly for me i read them as queer partly bc of their obvious love but also bc of how their relationship is kinda dysfunctional. not that they have to be dysfunctional to be gay. but just their characters have so much comphet. and it is often played for laughs but cory and shawn actually do not have the ideal friendship every likes to paint it as. not that their love is less, but if you really watch every ep you see how many episodes they talk about not having other friends and actually not being allowed to have other friends. cory especially seems to be extremely jealous of shawn having other friends. and this would be seen as a normal friendship plot that we see a lot in media. except in this show it's never actually framed as bad or something to mature past but actually excepted as good and just the way cory and shawn are and how close of friends they are.

okay at first i was like, why is ayan threatening to tell people akk's the one bringing the curse back when he already said he wouldnt. ayan also claimed he didnt believe akk anymore about not stealing the notebook bc of what he’s "now" seen akk do - but he’s known akk was behind things since the beginning. and actually the only motive i can come up with is that he was worried about what akk would do if he was left alone that night, because akk kept trying to get away from him, and not letting ayan help him. so ayan threatened to tell people that akk was bringing the curse back if he didnt stop.

and i realized that... something huge about ayan's past is that he witnessed his uncle’s suicide. and IF im interpreting this episode correctly, you have to consider that aspect of trauma alongside the way he acts towards akk, & the reactions he gets from akk.

akk pushes ayan away when ayan says he needs to think of himself first. akk leans into ayan’s hug at first but then pushes him away again and tries to leave. so ayan follows and does what he’s done in the past. he threatens. he gets a rise out of akk, a confrontation akk can't back out of rather than an attempt to escape. and maybe ayan only does that because he’s scared. maybe he’s scared of leaving akk alone, not knowing what akk will do - whether it be continue the curse or something worse. he needs to make sure akk will stop.

so throughout the rest of the episode, as ayan drags akk back to the school to search for his notebook, it’s possible that what he’s really doing is just keeping akk busy. and it works because they settle back into the same teasing/exasperated relationship they had before. it smooths things between them. but the balance doesn’t truly tip into where it needs to be until ayan has his nightmare, and akk hurries to comfort him. after their conversation on the beach, things couldn't go back to the way they were before, but couldnt move forward either. akk isn’t the only one who needed to show weakness in this ep, ayan needed to as well. especially since while they were searching for the notebook he avoided akk’s question abt why it was important again. they both needed to lean on each other this ep. they both need to learn to trust each other. so i can’t wait to see what comes next, and how ayan eventually opens up about the truth of his relationship with dika and what happened to him.

so rm!jersey!kyle was a very anxious and neurotic kid growing up from the get go, but after the tegridy fire and losing stan, kyle got really mentally fragile and unstable, was constantly having panic attacks and would fly into these little psychotic episodes where he swore he could see and hear stan when he was not there.

sheila read online that lavender is naturally relaxing and was told by specialists, doctors and therapists that it can be soothing and her helicopter mom brain ran with it...bought him lavender scented Everything.

kyle was like this is a fucking plant this is stupid it is not relaxing me its actually making me enraged!!! but accidentally got really mentally attached to it, likes how it smells and its familiar and does...relax him.

the "kyle special" at grounded ( which is the coffee shop tweek works at in rm...listen...he cant escape ) is a medium vanilla lavender latte with honey and sometimes tweek tapes a sprig to the lid to be qt <3

tweak is also a witchy earthy pagan king and made kyle a little anxiety apothecary bag with crystals and lavender and stuff in it and kyle is convinced its all a hoax but does not leave the house without it....i see you kyle

also maybe its just his orange hair but i swear i get a little like orange marmalade or like a mild lemon verbena moment off him

so in short, i think rm kyle smell/tastes like vanilla bean, french lavender, honey, like a hint of orange zest, paper/books, the leather from his little journal where he writes his madman ramblings aka the therapy stan letters, linen, (lavender) laundry detergent, a little coffee

okay, so stans across the ninaverse ( hi pep stan, ily ) are all very earthy and herbal/medicinal to me? but i feel where pep!stan is more like peppermint, spearmint, baja blast w/ ice spiked w vodka, sea air, smell after it rains, forest, i swear some sort of blue bottle of mens like department store cologne he got for xmas ( it smells....rlly good )

and that medicinal earthy eucalyptus smell specifically reminds him of her. so ravenstan runs a lot of eucalyptus scented essential oils in his room and the studio and carries a jar with him pretty much everywhere he goes <3

i am so so normal about the concept of vampirism as a kind of love and intimacy beyond sexuality, mutually sustaining and being sustained by someone. giving your partner your inner most life essence and the most closed off part of yourself willingly. laying your most vulnerable parts in their teeth and trusting them to bite softly. not in a possessive way but in a way that just denotes pure adoration for each other, feeding and being fed by love.

Hello! I don’t have NPD but wanted to write a character having it without demonizing them. I keep trying to find sources but all of them are just the stereotypical “NARCISSISTS R EVIL!!!!!” stuff, so I was wondering if you had any sources for how to write a character with the disorder or even just any tips in general so I don’t accidentally demonize or encourage stereotypes

hm, this is a good question! despite being a writer myself, i’m horrible at writing advice, but i guess i would just say- let them be like all your other characters. let them fuck up but get the chance to make up for it, let them argue and be angry but also let them be happy and compassionate. npd is just a disorder, it’s not a life sentence of misery, so just let your character(s) with npd be flexible- every person is capable of making mistakes, growing, and learning, whether or not they have npd. instead of thinking about it like “this character’s defining trait is npd”, think about it like “this character happens to have npd and it can factor into their story but at the end of the day they’re just a person with the capacity to both mess up and grow”

i would also say, if you don’t have npd, it simply won’t be possible to represent the actual experience and nuance of having it, so don’t try to explore it too much or try to tell what it’s like to actually have it, you can just casually insert some info about it here and there!

Hello :)) I love your writing and had a few questions and wondered if you had any writing advice??? I’m not good with writing long fics, rare/unsual dynamics, or original characters and wondered if you have any tips from experience?

okay so, for long fics it's kinda iffy. especially if you aren't good with just long projects in general

but in my experience, take it slow. do not try to rush through it, because you will lose motivation very quickly

for planning a long fic, it could honestly go either way. i know most people don't plan a lot of it, and just kinda base everything off one or two scenes they want to write, but some people don't

some people plan every little aspect of it

i try to stay in between that range, but just kinda mess around with it (def start with the little-no planning option and work up to planning everything, gives you a chance to see where you land

rare/unusual dynamics are also kinda hard, but in the sense that you'll have to balance canon character traits and ooc traits (not headcanons. not entirely, anyway)

for example, shadow and tails

they've never really had an actual conversation with one another (i mean.. technically they did in shadow the hedgehog, but that was moreso working for the same goal rather than conversing with one another because they want to)

in canon, shadow is very closed off. he keeps to himself, and usually only works with sonic and co. when he absolutely has to

he wouldn't go seeking for conversation with some random 8yo. not the way i portray it, anyway

canonically, shadow and tails have kinda clashing personalities. a friendship between them would be more like colleagues than actual friends

so i tend to tweak shadow to be ever so slightly more open for it to work out (that, and having tails fix the dark rider/omega. still let's them communicate, but in a more canonically aligned way than them getting some food or smthn)

it's a hard balancing act, so you'll just have to play around with the characters you pick. dig really deep into them, try to find some common ground that links them in any way. it helps more than you would think

and for original characters, i honestly just use canon characters for writing them.

oftentimes, there is a pre-existing character that is similar enough to your oc. you can just nab their personifications and little habits, or you can mix them with other characters

say you want a very bubbly character that isn't a pushover;

take cream's compassion for chao/animals

take amy's determination

take tails' love for helping people

take rouge's confidence

mix them up, and then you'll have a base to work from to shape your oc

ocs can be tricky, but you can rely on the internet very heavily to help you out (if you have a voice claim for them, you can also look into that person and pick some things from them for your oc, but focus more on vocal stuff. accent, ways they pronounce certain words, etc.)

just pick a bunch of characters and throw them in a mixing bowl then voilà, characterization for your oc
