It’s not a perfect 1:1 recreation, it’s got its flaws, but overall I’m so happy with the result! This was such a fun project, I got to try new things, and the cardigan itself is super comfy and warm! Working with such limited references was a challenge, but I had so much fun figuring it all out. 10/10 would make a niche reference piece like this again
It’s not a super obvious reference, but I know what it is, and that’s all that matters. The cardigan can fully button up, the pockets are functional, and it’s quite warm! It’s also sparkly, cause I loved the look of the sparkly yarn. I’ll be wearing this bad boy a LOT, and I still have a bunch of the yarn in case I need to make repairs
Overall this took probably about 2000 yards of yarn, about 2 - 3 weeks to make (I’m not including the time I had to take off at various points), and was made entirely with single crochet and single crochet ribbing stitches. The cost of the yarn was around 80 - 85 CAD. I’ll do my best to write up a pattern so that anybody interested can make one of their own! This was done without a pattern, but I wrote down everything while I was working, so I’m hoping I can make that into a coherent pattern!
I decided last night I want to learn how to make fans, so I got my excessively large pillow all set up
I printed the pattern from Jo Edkins lace website and then used a pin to prick it and transfer it to more paper strips so that I had enough to go around the roller
Picked my colors, wound my bobbins and got started
Not too bad for a first fan!
The next one went pretty smoothly too
Then it was time for bed.
This is the start of some lace yardage that will be used for a project I'm working on with a friend and my daughter. At least, that's the plan right now.
