Mod: Bed and Appliance Stat Standardizer

I've been running with Same Energy Gain for Every Bed for a long time because after the base game, almost every new bed is cloned from the same midrange bed, and otherwise traits are pretty random. But the game is really SUPPOSED to be about starting with cheap crap and working your way up. As I've gotten more and more into adding additional constraints to make my sims work for every luxury, the fact that there's no rational path to upgrade beds and appliances from low-quality to high-quality is really bothering me.

So, I mapped out the spread of bed/appliance stats related to price in the base game, where the progression made some kind of sense. Then I re-categorized all the other objects of that type based on how their price relates to that base game range. I also got deep into the buy mode catalog to make the catalog cards tell you which items count as "cheap" and give off the related moodlets (e.g. "Uneven Cooking", "Tastes Like Fridge", and something about bad sleep from a cheap bed). Catalog cards also tell you other traits of the item, such as what kind of freshness a fridge offers and whether a stove increases cooking speed.

The goal here is for you to be able to take a game from dirt poor to wealthy and have the more expensive stuff you buy actually be better than the cheaper stuff. It's also trying to provide some transparency on what you're actually buying.

How to run Milkshape through Parallels on 64-bit Macs!

Super niche tip but hopefully this post will reach someone who googles this (I was that poor bloke lol).

Does Milkshape fail to run through your Windows 11 VM on an M1-or-later Mac? Try the following:

Go to the Milkshape 3D folder program files, right-click ms3d.exe and choose Properties.

Then choose Change emulation settings.

Make sure Hide x64 emulation capability is unchecked.

Change Default to Very strict execution using the drop down menu.

Milkshape should now run 🎉

(3d view doesn't look great, but it works just fine for assigning joints and converting between wso and obj)

Is it possible to mod the Sims 3 to be able to reorganize or reorder clothing in Create A Sim in any way you want? If so, would it depend on something like file name? I just need answers for a project of mine.

TS3 Functional Closet Mod

The idea for this mod started with my want to convert TS2 Apartment Life closet. I could have used the Supernatural wardrobe as a base, but I wanted the doors to have proper animations and the ability to function like real closet doors against the wall, similar to how doors work in the game. So, this mod was created! 😊

What is this mod?

This mod functions as a dresser but includes a new animation that allows the doors to slide open like an actual closet. When the closet opens and closes, the Sim plays an idle animation, and when changing clothes, they use the spin animation.

The mod includes two different types, depending on the closet:

Dresser Type – Offers the same interactions as the base game dresser. This type is best for closets without mirrors.

Mirror Type – Includes interactions from the vanity table in Supernatural and Showtime (Don’t worry, the mod is 100% base game compatible!).

Important! This mod does not add a closet object to the game by itself. It only provides the necessary functionality for closet objects to work properly!

The Closet Object:

As mentioned earlier, this mod was created because I wanted to convert TS2 closet. The conversion is included with the mod, and you're welcome to use it as a base for creating your own closets! 😊

The closet comes in three different versions:

Opaque

Mirror – This version is split into two parts: the closet and a separate mirror for the animated door. To use it properly, simply place the mirror on the closet—it will slot into place and move with the door 😊

Glass

Both merged and unmerged versions are included—please install only one! (The merged file does not include the mod itself.)

How to Install?

Place the mod and the closet objects in your Mods/Packages folder.

How to Create Your Own Closet?

Choose the version you'd like to clone as your base and ensure the OBJK is set correctly in S3PE for the closet type you want.

For a closet without a mirror: Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.ShelvesStorage.Crystal.Closet

For a closet with a mirror: Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.ShelvesStorage.Crystal.ClosetMirror

Polycount:

The 3 versions share the same polycount. LOD 0 (High Detail): 2430 LOD 1 (Medium Detail): 1070

Real Estate Mod - DOWNLOAD

Jump into the world of buying and selling. You can now play as an active real estate agent, selling properties to sims throughout the town.

As is my style, this mod is made with rotational play in mind, so there are unique interactions for both buyers and sellers, if you want to play both sides.

Become an estate agent and choose from residential and valid community lots to list for sale. You can appraise residential lots, edit the details of lots, and gain a rating that will unlock more interactions.

Buyers can put in offers for properties, visit listed lots to check them out and get information about houses from both estate agents and sellers.

Once offers have been accepted, close on the property, pay up, and do with it what you wish! Move in, fix it up and re-sell it, rent it out...

Realtors will get a nice commission with each sale and you can track your sales to see your stats.

So, this is what I'm working on instead of the 4-5 almost done mods I should be getting ready for release.

If you have no idea what's going on here, you're completely normal.

This is intended to be a way to set Options from the Options menu for an individual save instead of for the entire game. It involves building menus with Battery's UI utility in ways I'm quite sure he never intended.

All of my saves are played by starkly different rules. They have different lifespans and year lengths. Some have supernaturals and some don't. I swap out my mod lists with a couple of clicks using Sims 3 Mod Organizer. But right now, I think like most people with highly customized save files, I have several copies of options.ini and copy the one into the game to match the save I want to play. Which I almost always forget the first time and have to close the game and start again.

At this point, I have everything setting, saving, and loading. The lifespans are definitely getting set correctly. The demographics settings are harder to test, but I'm pretty sure the way I implemented them is solid. Mostly I need to test that what I did with supernaturals doesn't affect the save in any long-term ways.

I'm not sure the season and lunar settings are getting applied. So, buh. If I can solve that, I can put it up for alpha testing on MTS for those who are interested.

Milkshape in Parallels/Windows 11

This is such a niche one but maybe a follower can help 🙏

Do any of you have Milkshape running on Parallels or via any other method on an M1 (64 bit ARM) Mac?

Do you remember if you installed any other required bits and pieces to get it to work?

I'm using a Windows 11 VM. Everything else one could possibly need (TS3, S3PE, TSRW, Blender, etc) works fine on the VM except for Milkshape! It just does nothing. Doesn't launch. Tried 1.8.5 betas 1&2 as well as 1.8.4.

The Milkshape 3d and developer's website are both long gone and I can't find a list of requirements to run it anywhere to check against.

So I'm starting up this clunky Windows computer all the time purely to convert an obj to wso and whack the wso on a USB stick to take back to my Mac (the Windows computer doesn't even connect to wifi loool). It feels really silly and so I would love to know if anyone else experienced this or fixed it 🙏

RIP, CmarNYC

I’m very sad to report that Sims 3 and 4 creator CmarNYC passed away in October 2023. For 15 years, Simmers benefited from Cmar’s long-honed computing skills as she created much-loved modders’ and players’ tools, including the Sims 3 and 4 MorphMakers and Skininators, the TS4 SimRipper, the Sims 3 XCAS core mod, and many CAS sliders. She was also a contributor to S4PE, which likely was used by creators you rely on. Without Cmar’s work, the Sims franchise would have had a much less rich array of mods and custom content. She will be greatly missed.

As well as Sims, Cmar loved cats, and donations are suggested to the ASPCA, the TinyKittens Society, or an animal-related charity near you.
