All Mine | Marc-Andre Fleury

Summary: After getting their first night out after becoming new parents, Marc can’t help but notice how much Y/N has changed. So has every other guy in the bar.

Based on prompt “this wasn’t apart of the plan’ ‘OH you’re jealous”

Having kids was amazing. Just knowing that there was a little mini version of himself and Y/N running around in the world made Marc the happiest man alive. But god was it tiring. He and his wife had been married for almost 5 years now and they had two young ones at home. Layla who was three, and Lucas who had just turned one.

All through both pregnancies, his wife Y/N had been a trooper- she complained here and there about pain or discomfort, but she never said anything along the lines of her regretting having kids. It was something that both her and Marc knew they wanted since they were young- and as soon as they got married, they had started trying for a baby.

It took some time between scheduling and the hockey season- but after a couple attempts, they had a bun in the over and their little girl was on the way. Now three years later and another baby added to their roster, the two of them decided to break. There was no telling if they would have another kid- but Marc didn’t mind having a third. He loved the two they had more than anything and he wanted a very big family. Y/N however needed the break not only physically but mentally.

This was the first night that they had to their selves since Lucas was born. Between Hockey season starting up again and Y/N working from home. Neither her or Marc really had the chance to relax. As soon as they were home and finished work- they were being parents which in itself was another job.

But now that Lucas was a year old and they felt better about leaving him alone with a babysitter, they decided that it was long over-due for them to have a night out together. It was also perfect timing because Marc’s parents had flown to Vegas for the little tike’s birthday which meant they were leaving the kids with family- not some random teenager that lived across the street.

As Y/N stood in the bedroom mirror, she couldn’t help but notice how much her figure had changed since having two kids. Before she was pregnant, she was a little thinner. Her hips were smaller and her shoulders were tight- but now after popping out two babies, her hips were a little wider and she had a bigger bum- bigger boobs too. She was still incredibly fit, she was stunning and had a healthy motherly glow about her.

Fixing her earrings, she glanced at her reflection and hummed. She decided not to go with a dress that night- but instead a pair of heels, some well-fitted jeans and a white blouse. She looked amazing as always and her hair framed her face expertly. Hearing the bedroom door open, the Woman glanced at the familiar Canadian.

The french man took in her figure- eyes trailing over her hips and the curve of her bum as he walked over, pressing into her and humming softly. She was beautiful and he was a lucky man- his hands ghosted over her flesh, grabbing at her sides and brushing against her breasts cheekily before he stepped back and leaned against the wall- a smirk on his face.

“Ready to go babe?” Marc asked, he was wearing a nice dress shirt, some slacks and his dress shoes. He always looked amazing and Y/N turned around.

Rolling her eyes at his advances, she couldn't lie that she loved it- she knew that he was enjoying the new womanly shapes that her body had, and if she was being honest- she liked it too. “Yeah let’s go.” She answered him- picking up her purse and swinging it over her shoulder.

She walked down into the living room to see the grandparents playing with the kids- or more so Layla. Lucas was dozing off in his grandmother’s arms while Layla laid against the couch- grandpa tickling her tummy. Both parents walked over and pecked the tops of their children’s heads.

“We’ll be back later tonight- I left a list of everything, Obviously you have our numbers if you need something.” Y/N started to ramble, she never a nervous mother- but leaving her babies alone for the first time made her a little worried. Marc placed his hand on her lower back and chuckled. “They’ll be fine love…” he hummed.

Practically pushing her out the door, the two of them grabbed the uber. They were both going to be drinking that night so they decided that it was better to just take a cab. That way they could really have fun and let loose. After all, they deserved it.

A short ride into the city later and the couple had been let out onto the side of the Las Vegas strip. They didn’t make a habit of coming down here anymore- when they first moved to Vegas yes, but now that they lived here and the initial shock and honeymoon effect had worn off, the strip was just a place they visited on special occasions.

Hand in hand, they walked towards one of the higher class bars, it was a place that sports teams and celebrities frequented a lot, not that either of them cared about attending somewhere with status. They just wanted to have a nice night to relax- no fans or locals recognizing Marc Andre and asked for pictures tonight. Just some old fashioned date night activities.

They took a seat at the bar and Y/N started scrolling through the menu, she hadn’t been much of a drinker ever since they had the kids, she liked to be sober enough to get up in the middle of the night in case her kids needed something. But even when her and Marc were alone- the two of them didn’t party as hard as they used to back in Pittsburgh.

“Flower!” A voice called out, turning their heads- the Fleury couple noticed some of Marc’s teammates sitting across the bar. Smiling brightly they waved back to the men who had grown to be their family. Since she hadn’t decided on an order yet, Y/N turned to her husband.

“Why don’t you go say hi to the guys and then come back? I’ll figure out what I want to drink.” She reassured him. Pressing a kiss to his lips- she beckoned him off and returned her attention to the drinks printed on the laminated page in her hands.

A few minutes had passed and Y/N palmed an order for herself and Marc with the bartender, a body slid into the seat next to her and she turned- assuming that her husband had come back already. But just as she was about to speak, she noticed someone else- a young man probably in his twenties. By Y/N’s assumptions, she assumed he was here for his 21st birthday. He smelled like he had bathed in vodka and rum and he could barely hold himself up. “Whats a pretty lady like yourself doing all alone in a bar?” He slurred- leaning closer to the woman.

Y/N recoiled and grimaced. “Im not alone- my husband is over there.” She pointed Marc out who had yet to take notice of the situation. The boy in front of her rolled his eyes. “Doesn’t sound like a very good husband if he’s leaving you.” He quipped. Y/N huffed and turned back to Marc who was now glaring at the man next to her.

He was very protective, but she had never seen him like this. He was called ‘Flower’ for Christs sake- he was so sassy and funny and soft, it was one of the reasons she loved him- but right now he looked like he was about to kill that man.

Marc abandoned the guys as soon as Y/N’s neighbour had tried to make a move on her- he was stalking across the bar and immediately slid into the space between her and the kid. “Can I help you?” His accent rang out thick and heavy- it was obvious that he was less than pleased with he drunken fool’s presence.

Y/N stood up straight and pressed her hand to Mar’s bicep. “Its okay honey- he was just leaving.” She reassured him, sending the kid a pleading glance. Luckily for the three of them, the kid took the hint and wandered off- going across the bar to first with someone else.

All through the rest of the night, Marc never left Y/N’s side. He was extremely affectionate towards her- more than usual, his hands gripping at her hips, her thighs- even going as far as to place his hand in the back pocket of her jeans. It didn’t dawn onto Y/N until she noticed Marc glaring at everyone who looked her way. “OH- You’re jealous!” She giggled softly.

Placing her hand against his chest, she kissed his cheek. “Im all yours babe.” She reminded him. Marc sighed softly and kissed her lips deeply. “I know- Its just… You look amazing and everyone is looking at you… You’re mine.” He pouted like a child. That was the flower she knew.

Y/N smirked and quickly cancelled the rest of their order, she paid the tab and grabbed Marc’s hand leading him out of the bar as he stared at her confusedly. “Where are we going? I thought we were getting food and drinks.” This wasn’t apart of the plan at all, but now that she noticed how touchy and affectionate Marc was being- she just wanted some time to be intimate.

“If you really think that were going to stay in that bar while you grab my ass and kiss my boobs- you’re sorely mistaken mister.” She pointed a finger into her husbands chest with a laugh.

Marc grinned brightly and started dragging her towards a hotel. They were still deeply in love and they deserved a night to just be foolish and act like newly weds- He texted his parents that they were going to stay the night at a hotel and be home in the morning. To which he received a. “Have fun ;)’ from his dad.

What would you say is your favorite food? Sushi. < Ahhh, this is a good one. My favorite is down to a tie: it’s either chicken curry or burgers.

What color eyes does the person you like / love have? Are they pretty? Dark brown. I’m not too sure what the second question is referring to but yeah, she and her eyes are both pretty.

What was the first television show you were obsessed with? Hi-5, omg. That show was my life in preschool and I always watched the 12 NN replay as soon as I got back home from school, back when I was still on a half-day sched. I was so hooked I remember having legit tantrums before starting Grade 1 because grade school meant full days in school and thus having to miss out on the show entirely.

Do you like Mexican food or any other foreign foods? For sure. All my favorites are Asian (Indian, Japanese, Indonesian, Chinese, etc.) but I also enjoy Italian, Mexican, Greek etc cuisines. I generally haven’t tried African cuisines but I really, really want to.

What color is the keyboard you are currently using? The keys are black with white lettering.

Do you own any of those ‘chunky’ and cute rings? Nope, not my style.

What are you planning on eating for dinner tonight if you haven’t already? I saw my dad cooking up something deep-fried; it was like his own version of katsu or something, or maybe it’s fish fillet? I’m not too sure what it is yet but I’m excited and will probably eat lots of it as I skipped all my meals and have only been running on coffee and vape all day - not good.

Do you own an iPod or MP3 player? If so, when did you get it? Technically I still do. Haven’t used it since high school. I got it when I was 10 back in ‘08; I was envious of the kids in school who had iPods, so I asked my dad to buy me one even though I wasn’t super into music at the time. Not the best kid in the world.

When was the last time someone took your picture? Last Saturday when my package came. Apparently online deliveries now require your photo to be taken upon receiving your package and I think it’s for the seller to keep track of their transactions. I’m not a big fan of the new procedure, but it’s whatevs.

Would you rather write a report or type it on a computer? Type.

What color was the last jacket or hoodie you wore? Gray.

Do you receive more compliments or insults on a daily basis? Neither, really. I haven’t been talking to people a lot; and when I do it’s for work, where I receive neither compliments nor insults.

What would you say is your favorite cereal, if you even like it? Cookie Crisp is the only one I like. I don’t have cereal often.

When was the last time you went on vacation? Where was it? It was a quick weekend getaway to Tagaytay and then Cavite, if it counts.

Do you and your friends normally say you love one another? Yep, especially with Andi and Angela.

Have you ever been an outcast at your school or anywhere else? I was definitely one in early grade school, and again in Grade 6 when both my closest friends migrated in a span of six months, and I spent nearly all my lunch periods alone. Looking back on it, I’m really glad I powered through and made it here because I truly wasn’t happy at the time.

Do you own any dresses? If so, what colors are they? I have lots of sundresses and little black dresses because I was into those for a very long time at one point. Some of them are black, obviously, but I also have dresses in blue, maroon, and olive.

Would you say you drink more pop / soda than you should? I never drink soda as I’ve always felt like I spend more time complaining about how drinking it feels like burning my tongue and throat than actually enjoying it.

Would you rather have orange juice or milk with your breakfast? Water.

How many different colors has your bedroom been painted? Just one. The walls have been white ever since we moved here 12 years ago.

Do you cuss? If so, do you ever cuss in front of your parents? I’ll slip in front of them sometimes but I never get in trouble for it anymore.

Would you ever tell your mom about the things you’ve done sexually? Our humor together can be raunchy sometimes but I don’t think I’d ever do this. I dunno if she wants to hear I’ve had sex with a girl either.

Is there anyone out there who can make you cry very easily? Yes.

What was the worst news you’ve heard this entire week? *In the last week, hearing about the typhoon’s effects in other cities didn’t feel good. This entire country is literally only getting by with donations from the private sector because the government isn’t doing shit for cities and families who got severely affected by the typhoon; it’s almost depressing to hear and read about.

Have you ever been in a car wreck? I’ve been in minor car accidents but it would be too much to call any of them car wrecks. They had all just been tiny bumps or thuds.

Do you have your ears pierced? If not, what do you have pierced? Yes, my mom had my earlobes pierced when I was an infant. I don’t plan on getting any more new ones as I’m not really into piercings.

Has anyone ever told you that they think you have ADHD? Nope.

What is your biggest pet peeve? When people reach out first via text/IM then even if I get back to them in 5–10 seconds, it takes them a long time to get back to me. It’s especially annoying if they classify it as urgent, I drop everything to reply quickly, then they end up disappearing. Like why?

Do a lot of people understand you completely? Who does exactly? No, I like keeping a wall up.

Would you say you’re really good at cooking and baking things? Haha no. But it’s something I want to be skilled in, definitely. I’d love to be able to make the food I usually just thirst over on the internet. I’m taking baby steps, like figuring out how to make certain sandwiches, but I have a long way to go before I can consider myself any good.

How is the weather outside right this second? It’s been a little cloudy this morning but it might start to get fair seeing how I’m beginning to see the sky turn blue. I’m just hoping there won’t be too much sun, period.

Do you have a lot of trees around your house? What about buildings? No buildings as I live in a gated village. We have a number of trees around, but I wouldn’t call it ‘a lot.’

Would you say either one of your parents are 'pack-rats?’ No. I have that title, and I believe I inherited it from my great-grandmother who was a bit of a pack rat herself, as I’ve been told.

Have you ever disowned anyone in your family? For what reasons? Kinda. I don’t associate with one of my uncles because he has a terrible drinking issue that he never got to permanently fix. Whenever I see him at family gatherings he just smells like stale gin or whatever it is he drinks, and it just ruins the essence of family reunions for me. As recent as Christmas Day last year he drove drunk and crashed into a car with an entire family, but as always his ass got lucky because 1) no one in the family got hurt, and 2) said family let go of the lawsuit they were planning to file against him.

Have you ever seen That 70’s Show? Do you watch it regularly? I tried watching the first episode but genuinely could not find it entertaining for the life of me. Sorry, Mila :(

If you could choose, what decade would you rather live in? I never really think about revisiting decades - they’re already behind, so what’s the point? As bad as the 2020s have been looking, I’m okay with staying here.

How often would you say you get sick? Once a year at most.

Is there anyone out there who has hurt you so much, you wish they’d die? I used to wish they would die, but I don’t feel that way anymore.

Who would you say is the best actor / or actress in your opinion? My biased ass would rally for Kate Winslet all the way, but some other great ones for me are Toni Collette, Emma Stone, Jodie Foster, and Natalie Portman.

What would you do if the last person you kissed said they hated you? Be confused and ask them to give me a few concrete reasons. I don’t think too highly of myself, but I know I’ve never done anything to make me deserving of hate, especially with regard to us.

her mother , marcia almeda , was a recent graduate from secondary school who packed a backpack and went traveling !! before long tho she ended up knocked up by another backpacker , this one american , while they were having a fling in sydney ( hence sofie’s middle name lmao @ her mom’s humor ) . she flew back home when she found out & never told sofie’s father oops !! so marcia had sofie at home in recife just before her nineteenth birthday , and marcia was enthralled w little sofie . ofc she inherited her mother’s beauty ( i hc marcia looks like alessandra ambrosio bc hello ! ) & little sofie lived a happy early childhood life in her grandparents’ home in recife.

brazil isn’t the safest of countries & marcia didn’t want the same dangers she experienced growing up for her young daughter , so around sofie’s eighth birthday , her & her mother packed up and went on a ‘ trip ’ to new york city . joke’s on sofie , though - it wasn’t actually a trip , but rly they were trying to move there to find sofie’s father to confirm his paternity and get sofie american citizenship . it was proving more difficult than she thought , & marcia was quickly running out of money . with a face like hers , though , making money wasn’t too difficult , but it was time consuming . marcia found herself escorting older men in order to pay the bills , all the while leaving little sofie to fend for herself . some of her earliest memories are of strange men in their tiny apartment & sofie trying to block out their conversations with her lil cassette player hiding in the corner of her room . eventually , marcia was able to contact the father & they set up a meeting . sofie had gotten her hopes up that she would finally have a dad ( she got dressed up in her sunday best & everything bc reuniting her dad was a BIG deal ) , but the meeting ended up being a quick exchange of words , a mouth swab and a couple signatures . sofie never even learned his name , & this queued up a lifetime of daddy issues & distrust of men !!

while marcia was able to stay in america much longer than she was legally supposed to , eventually she was facing deportation , which meant lil sofie , with her citizenship finally confirmed , was put into the hands of her father who sent off to an american boarding school in new york without even contacting her . she would spend the summers in brazil with her mother or , as she got older , couch - surfing with different friends throughout the months . she started growing apart from her mother as she aged since she wasn’t going home every summer since she didn’t rly feel any connection to brazil . her grandfather had passed away & she only has faint memories grandmother , plus the city wasn’t at all familiar to her & she wasn’t practicing her portuguese after her mother returned to brazil .

through it all , music was proving to be the one constant in her life she could use to escape from reality . she had never done any training or classes , but she just liked singing along to whatever was on the radio & practicing on her own . she also found a passion for writing poetry which she later would realize was compatible with music . she would spend HOURS in the school library working on garage band lmfao bc she couldn’t afford her own laptop to produce music & her dad sent just enough money as he was legally supposed to . but she worked her lil tushy off & applied to a music academy in nyc & was rejected the first year ( DEVASTATING when mixed with her impostor syndrome & daddy issues ) but she practiced more & more & edned up getting accepted the next year . here , she worked on her vocal skills & music production , & started accumulating her own music & selling songs to music producers on the side for some ca$h money .

by the time she was 16 the state decided she was old / mature enough to live on her own so she got a TINY lil studio apartment in harlem where she’d grown up with her mum & she had friends who she’d grown up with . while it wasn’t the safest neighbourhood statistically sofie felt safe & just like one of the neighbourhood kids . it was the first time she genuinely felt like she belonged .

she was accepted on full scholarship to nyu & majored in music composition & vocal performance where she started finally feeling secure in herself & released her own music on soundcloud , quickly amassing a following & becoming an ‘ up & coming ‘ artist !! she was contacted by a scooter braun type guy who was interested in taking her on under his management so she dropped out of uni in her 2nd year ( bc tbh her grades in anything other than her music classes were v subpar ) . soon enough producers wanted to work with her & she was making enough that she didn’t have to sell her songs which she hated doing but had to pay the bills u know . oh & her vc is billie eilish bc ofc shes my queen go stream when we all fall asleep where do we go on spotify u won’t be disappointed

she also started getting into the partying scene here yikes !! it was a method for her to numb all her pain from her past & impostor syndrome & drown all that out in pills or tequila . it rly wasn’t healthy bc of how she would binge for a weekend then try to stay sober throughout the week but failing by about wednesday when she started to feel hollow . she wasn’t gonna be a one hit wonder & her mom sure as hell didn’t go through all that trouble just for sofie to be a nobody addict !! so she kept it together enough to start making big bucks & well ……. here she is :~)

sofie blames it on her brazilian heritage but this bitch loves a party !! like shes the one who gets happy drunk at the pre then is the first on the dance floor then later falls out of the club & into some rando’s bed !! in the back of her mind she knows her drug & alcohol use is self - destructive but she figures shes allowed to let loose sometimes ( even if that ends up being most nights ) ; rly she’s just in denial bc she doesn’t want to change her ways & lose her identity !!

this bitch overthinks everything !! half the time she isn’t rly listenning to whoever bc she’s thinking about what they just said & if they’re mad with her . she’s that friend who will ask u to come over to formulate the perfect text response & fuss over it for hours . that being said , if someone talks shit abt anyone shes tight with , they’re gonna get it the next time she sees them . she isn’t about violence & would never get into a physical fight , but she’d work behind the scenes to ruin their life . but then she pretends like she rly doesn’t care though its obvious to those close to her that she cares way too much

Summary: What happens when Y/N gets caught up in a nasty protest and her options are run or go to jail and her only option to get away is a mysterious man and his motorcycle.

Authors Note: Here’s a part 2! So i’m not going to be as active as I have been these past few days because I’m going on a trip so sorry i’m going to try to post a lot before I live but yeah

Y/N Pov:

I huff under breath realizing I have no ride home. I decide to head over to the local diner and hang out there since it is 2 in the morning I’m so lucky it’s 24 hours or else I would die. My studio is on the other side of town and I am not going to be walking that far, not with all the running I did today.

The diner isn’t that far either just a couple blocks away. I usually go there after my jail bust well not jail bust but ya know what I mean. It’s surprisingly cold out witch is very rare for New jersey at least during the summer. I sigh as I realize my clothing, a crop top with shorts. Sounded like a good idea earlier today but so did protesting.

As I was walking I couldn’t get my mind off of that motorcycle man I mental slap myself for not getting his name, heck we barely even had a conversation. He was a total douche though like yeah he had a right to be a little mean since I did get him put in jail but no need to bash on me for protesting like damn who put a stick up his ass?

I turn the corner and the “Allys” sign is right there all big and gold. I smile in relief that I didn’t get kidnapped on the way here. I open the door and the small bell rings making a couple of the truck drivers look up from their newspaper and one of the waitresses. The warmth hits me and I have never been happier. It probably isn’t even that cold outside i’m just a big wuss when it comes to the cold.

I take my usual seat by the bar and lay my head on the counter. “ Same as usual honey bun” Summer says while skating over to me. Summer has worked here longer than I have been coming here. “ Of course and a coffee the slammer got me tired” I lightly laugh. “ Honey you act like you went to prison you just sit on the bench handcuffed” She laughed while filling a mug with coffee. “ Ehh same thing”

I sit my head up and telling her and the cook bob about what protest I went to today and how I ran and got on a strangers motorcycle and how he wasn’t the nicest person I left out the part about him being really hot. When I finished I was out of breath and they were both wide eyes. “ sorry did I talk to fast” I shyly say while taking a sip of my coffee.

“ You are so much like your grandmother you know that’s how she met your grandfather by jumping in his mail truck but she was running from a group of girls” She laughed while going to help another table. I put some salt on my watermelon and take a bite it’s not as weird as you would thin.

I hear the bell ring and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing was It motorcycle man? What the crap who knew. I hurry and turn around before he could see me. That didn’t work since seconds after I hear the seat next to me squeak.

“ I’ll just have a coffee it’s been a long night” He says while looking at me shaking his head. “ So what’s so special about this park that you got me arrested for” He asked turning his seat to face me. I huff and shake my head. Like he cares he’s probably going to bash on it even more shouldn’t he be out with his hot model date anyway. “ Shouldn’t you be on a date with a hot model” I remark taking a sip of my coffee.

“ Well you see if I hadn’t gotten arrested than maybe me and her would be in bed right now butt I got arrested so she is probably sucking some others dude lips” He says while giving me a little wink. Eww gross I did not want to know that. Why was there some part of me that was happy he was here with me instead of that model

“ Oh man must suck not having sex with some model” I sarcastically say while biting my watermelon I notice him looking at my lips. Eww double gross. He just lets out a laugh I like his laugh it’s like the perfect volume. I hurry and snap out of my daydream

“ It does, so now I’m stuck with you and your gross salty watermelon” He gags. “ It is very good i’ll have you know don’t knock it till you try it isn’t that what all the girls say to you before becoming lesbo” I laugh while taking another bite. He just sits there in shock. 1 point for Y/N 0 points for motorcycle man.

“ I don’t know why they would I mean if there are other girl’s like you I would stick to dick” He fires back “ Hey that rhymed “stick with dick” it has a nice ring to it isn’t that your moto?” I laugh man this feels good going back in forth at one another.

We go at it for a good half an hour before Summer brings out his food. He puts salt on his oranges and I cringe up “ Eww that is so gross how can you eat that” I fake gag “ hey don’t attack me ms.salt on watermelon” “ Imma call you that since I don’t know your actual name” He takes a bite out of his orange and hums “ Y/N” I simply say taking a bite out of my watermelon

“ Y/N I like it it has a fiesty tone just like you” He says trying to flirt but failing terribly. “ So the park” He goes back to what we were first talking about “ Right well I grew up in that park I met so many people there I made so many memories. My nana used to take me there everyday after she got off work and we would meet up there once a week before she” I stop myself from finishing the sentence it’s still hard for me to believe that she is really gone. Even though it almost been 5 months. My nana was such a strong and hardworking woman I would do anything to become the half the woman she was.

“ And I want my kids to make memories there but that can’t happen if the city is going to tear it down, so I did what I thought was best and held a protest” I wait for the man sitting next to me to respond but it takes him a minute

“ Oh man Y/N i’m sorry I guess it is more than a park huh? Man Im such a shithead for yelling at you before Im really sorry” He says putting a hand on my shoulder “ You were a real shithead but I forgive you I guess” I laugh. His hand was warm and I felt nice as weird as that sounds.

“ Wait you said you and your nana would meet up there before but then you stopped before what” He asked “ You can learn that information when I learn your name” “Ethan” He says the same way I did

Ethan. I liked it.

Me and Ethan spent the rest of the night well day talking about everything from our dreams to how many times we have came here. Turns out he comes here a lot crazy that I’ve never ran into him before. He said this was his and his brothers place to go to after winning a game.

I thought it was cute how he showed me his sweet and soft side. From just looking at him he just looks like a mean motorcycle dude who only cares about hooking up with girls and making sure his hair looks alright. But in reality he’s so much more.

I learned that he has a twin brother named Grayson and they are both studying Photography at NYU which I think is really awesome. He showed me some of the photos he’s taken and he’s pretty good.

Before we knew it the time was 8 and the morning rush was coming in so we decided to head back home. I was about to walk off before I heard him call out my name. I turn around and see him holding his helmet over to me.

“ If this is your way of asking me to come home with you then I can only imagine how you got that model to go on that date with you” I laugh he just shakes his head. “ No i’m offering you a ride you ass” He laughs “ Oh well I’ve never been on a motorcycle before” He gives me a dumb look before leaning his head back and laughing “ Um remember earlier today I was basically your get away driver” He puts the helmet on my head before I can even say no.

He hops on his bike and gets it started. Man he looked really sexy it’s crazy how hot someone can look on a motorcycle he puts on his leather jacket with ease and gives me a smirk knowing damn well I was string.

“ Whos the one that want to go home with me now” He winks while patting the seat behind him.I jump on and hold on to his wait tight. “ Please you wish Dolan” I debate on if I should get on with him. Like he could kill me you never know.

I laugh to myself realizing how out of charter this all is for me. Getting on a random strangers bike, running from the cops, not coming home Stef is going to be so mad at me crap. Now here I am flirting with a boy I just met a little over 15 hours ago.

I join him on the motorcycle holding on tight to his waist partially being I was scared of falling off but I also just wanted to hold on to him. Wow I am an official creep.

“ Where to Y/N” Ethan says while pulling out of “Allys” parking lot.

also grew up as the kid who would hold worms over another kid’s face and taunt them w/ it. so like, playground bully. that was aster. she’s not ashamed of it

her mother had been doing research out in the ~wilderness~ with donovan, after months of convincing him of doing this one last project with her~ when the wildfires started

rather than leave aster to maverick, elaine--donovan’s wife--took her under her wing and moved across the country to boston alongside myra, her daughter

elaine always held a resentment towards aster because of her mother, but never did anything about it--it was just always, sorta, implied ?

but myra and aster got along swimmingly despite being polar opposites

aster was p much a feral child, and myra had been receiving etiquette lessons since birth, practically--like, literally

(that and when elaine tried to put aster in sports instead of dance--figuring her fiery nature would be put to good use--aster managed to get kicked off of every single team of every single sport she tried b/c of her aggression. theyve had to fight a few lawsuits after aster’s broken a number of noses and sporting equipments)

myra was learning two languages, aster? dyslexic and could barely read english as it was; science made sense to her, however. plants? especially.

people confused myra and aster for twins nearly all the damn time, despite only being cousins, they were so alike and yet so opposite

how is college going? dw, I hope you are settling in super well and feeling optimistic about school and all the amazing things I know you are going to achieve this year! I am excited that you are starting your rotations now! you are going to do awesome, I know it! I'm sorry that you didn't get that ICU first like you wanted but hopefully it's all part of the plan so that you get it at the right time for you <3 let me know how they go, of course. the week has been a bit weird to be honest, in my team I had a semi argument that was properly tense for the first time with someone and it was just so unpleasant. you know those people where they aren't horrible but you know that you'll never completely see eye to eye with them? i think it's just one of those things, where we'll never just completely read each other or get each other? and it's not, like, a massive issue or anything that we can't deal with, but I feel like usually I get on really well with people or not at all (all or nothing person I guess haha) but with this person I've just got to admit that we're always going to be a bit in the middle? like, we talked it over, and I've still found sometimes we misunderstand one another? so things are still good in work and clients, but with workpeople it has been the more difficult battle? hopefully we should get some more cool media stuff with the K-pop people soon, so that's an up?

I was the same as you, I would get so so so anxious and stressed if I wasn't studying or working or anything like that? but my mum is like your mum and grandma, where she gets up early too! but I feel like I need to do the late night thing instead? but then once I got into this crazy spiral where I would wake up really early and go to bed really late and like nap in between so I ended up like having two hours of sleep either side? that was peak wth at the time haha XD so now I try and let myself wake up a bit later really XD ha ha I'm in barely adulting! like I work so much but I don't earn a lot ha ha – I don't think that's very effective adulting? or like, I don't know I guess for a lot of people my age there's a work hard and hope it pays off thing in certain industries? so you're definitely more effectively adulting than me right now! like, you're going to do stuff that's gonna actively help people and you'll see that right in front of you, you know!!? sometimes my work gets out there but I rarely see directly if it gets to make peoples lives better you know? so the path you're on is so so admirable <3 <3 <3

I find that sometimes it does help me, but sometimes I forget to identify the times when it isn't helping me? or, sometimes I take it too far? so please look out for yourself and take care of yourself <3 and when you're worried if you're on the edge know that it's enough for you to take a rest and not be super perfect. i sometimes tell myself to except that I'm probably gonna make two or three stupid mistakes a day? It sounds kind of silly but it means that it makes it easier for me to accept when I mess up, idk, I think it helps me balance the pressure sometimes? i 100% understand what you're saying - at school do they have people that can directly help? or like peer supporters so it's not as stressful or official feeling as a therapist? if you ever want me to come off anon to help lemme know <3 i'm always here for you <3

oh my gosh your grandparents have been able to live long too! all my grandparents lived close to 100 before passing, and one of my grandmothers had the same as your grandfather. he sounds so sweet and so kind though! i love that he knows how to FaceTime you! Not like my West Coast friends are superficial people, but I think they accept it as part of the world a bit better? my friends on the east coast will rail against that stuff a lot more, like they buy into the influencer bullshit less? but I guess these are all sweeping generalisations anyway... I might have to travel a bit in europe soon... I got asked to go to otaly for some work today, and to holland next month. Idk if it will end up happening though, things change all the time? you know what? when I first saw you compare bowling and golf I was like, wait, what? but now I totally get it! i know a golfer and they talk about how physical and strenuous it is on the arms and stuff all the time which I don't think always comes across when you watch it and it makes a lot of sense with how you describe how you trained for bowling! i used to cox in rowing and I always used to find it really funny that I said that was the sport I did because honestly I just sat in the boat all the time and steered XD

the exciting thing is that I'm doing a bit less this week! I need to wait and see if that job wants me to fly out to Italy within the next 48 hours, if not next week, but if not I think I'm gonna figure out how to rehabilitate my joints a bit and get my brain okay? It's been existential Covid crisis week haha - I think a lot of me and my friends have been feeling like we've lost so much of our lives and potential during this time and I've really tried to hold in and ignore it for the past 18 months? i'm not one to ever feel lonely or to really really want to be in a relationship like some of my friends, but I've just been feeling it this week? like, I love my independence, but I wouldn't say no to a boyfriend right now you know? I feel silly saying that sometimes because I'm so against feeling like you have to have someone in your life to be okay, but I guess that's just a result of how the world is has been recently?? but I think all my feelings exploded around this stuff now so, I am trying to get back into a better place? so it's not as exciting as some of the stuff I've told you about before, but it's what's up I guess?

and omg ;_____; conflict within the workplace is NEVER easy bc all everyone wants is to reach the goal you all are reaching and bc there's some bumps in the road it makes everything that much more stressful :( and i know exactly the type of person you are talking about LOL i've had to work with some of my peers in the hospital who really didn't treat me all that nicely , but i still have to partner up with them anyways bc we had to move a patient lol ; like they never do anything terrible to you but you just cannot come to a proper agreement with them? i know the feeling :( but i can tell you are doing ur absolute best ;_____; it's a tough situation ,,,,,,,,, but may i propose something ??? maybe since things are high stress in the workplace, would u be willing to meet them outside the workplace, like a quick coffee meet up and then discuss those issues? maybe talking about it in the work environment is way too stressful for both of u and it is hard to come to an agreement, but maybe in a calmer, more informal setting do u think maybe the both of u could be like "hey, what u were talking about i'm not really head over heels for but this is what i think and do u think we can do something where both of us will be happy?" im thinking maybe will opening up a means for more civilized discussion?? just a thought LOL :') let me know how it goes :( i hope u are all able to figure everything out !!!!!

about the surgeries !!!!! like i said i know it's super stressful to think about bc this is one of the very few times in life where things are absolutely out of our control and that scares us, and we as medical providers aren't supposed to give u a false sense of security, but i promise u everything will be just fine as long as u correctly follow up with care post-op :) we wouldn't want an infection !!!! >;( i remember last year i had a patient and she was going in for a routine colonoscopy and she was scared shitless ,,,,,,, but i was like "listen ma'am i know it can seem scary but i was just in there with the doctors and everything is super relaxed and they know what they're doing in there, you'll be out in no time and i'll be here waiting !!" and that seemed to help her a lot, after the surgery she was on me like flies on shit LOL she was like "THANK U HONEY" (but i think most of it was bc she was still drugged up hhh)

LOL us with our family members waking up early <3 literally this morning i decided to do my laundry at 8am (its only 10 right right now lol) but idk it just make u feel a little bit better doesn't it? but oh my gosh no i don't see u in this way at all ;_____; babe like you're already THERE in the world working and to me like ,,,,,, being an effective functioning person in society is like all i ever want i just want to be COMPETENT and the fact that u manage ppl ???? it's already a lot of responsibility but you do it everyday like you go to work u make food for yourself u pay bills like yes this all kinda sucks but you're there doing it and idk ,,,,,,,, like u being in this position is like yeah their surviving in the world and doing okay !!!! so that’s how i see u hun ;_____;

and omg your grandparents lived a long life as well !!!!!!!! a lot of my friends’ grandparents are really young still, so it’s hard for others to relate i think LOL but :(((( i’m really lucky to have them around still and like, i feel like my grandparents are the cornerstone of our whole entire family; once they pass i’m not quite sure what will happen ;_____; so i’m just trying to cherish every moment that i have with them even tho sometimes it’s stressful lol ; also BOUT THE DIFFERENCES FROM EAST TO WEST COAST LOL ; i think u described it really well actually :) like among the friends u have the are from different parts of the states, it’s very accurate in my opinion !! and again after all it is just a very broad assumption, in general east coasters have this “workaholic” attitude, they tend to be very realistic which i actually appreciate a lot lol, i’m hoping to live near the east coast when i move out <3 now where i am from it is considered the midwest even tho it’s more east than west if u look at it on the map LMAO and like, it’s really funny bc if u say to someone you’re from the midwest they’ll tell u our reputation is being “too nice” LSKDLFJSKLD and like that’s our thing, a happy medium between coasts with big cities but small towns too and generally just very chill and nice ,,,,,,,, the south of the US is also known for having that “southern hospitality” overall very cheerful ppl with personality and super kind attitude on life :) now the west of the US i’m not saying there aren’t nice ppl out there bc there are LOL but esp near lost angeles or hollywood ofc you’re going to have ppl very stuck up bc ya know they made it to big bad LA and they want to be trendy with all of the fake health shit (celery juice does NOTHING FOR U sorry lol) generally my view of the west is just very fake and i would never want to have my family grow up there LMAO but that generally like, california and washington but like, utah or wyoming or colorado are just absolutely gorgeous and they have small town ppl there bc there are a lot of ranches there ,,,,,,,, does any of this make sense to u ??? (idk if this is a dangerous question for u to answer online with all the nutjobs that harass u, so pls feel free not to if it is) do you have any significant financial savings? if so, when did you start truly building it up? im 22 and im just so so anxious and scared that im never gonna be able to save up any money bc of endless loan + bill payments, to the point that im wondering what the pt. of having savings even is. like, life sux and were all gonna die, so might as well spend it all

haha I can't imagine they'd be able to do much with this information!So my grandfather was an accountant/very astute investor and he invested all my money in the stock market. I had enough for full college tuition at like, 12 and was pretty much set. Unfortunately, he contracted a staph infection during a routine hip surgery and passed away like....right before the recession hit. We just didn't have the time or the know-how between his death and the stock market crash to properly move things around, and there went all my savings. I technically still have the stocks and they're building back up, but it will take many, MANY years. So on one hand, the ideal situation is that your family gets you started with financial savings literally from birth. On the other hand, many are not in a position to do so, or in my case the person handling your money might die without leaving instructions right before the economy tanks (what a sick joke lol), so you're kind of fucked.And I genuinely don't know how people save money in their 20's. The only people I know who have been able to do so are those who live in areas with an extremely low cost of living but who have been lucky enough to get a stable, union-backed job. Living in a major city with rental prices being what they are and all the other things we have to pay for, car payments and cell phone bills and utilities and (in my case) dog haircuts, it just isn't realistic to "save" because a) extra money should be going toward paying off your loans and b) we don't own anything, so savings tend to go toward down payments, deposits, and all the other holding expenses that come with renting and not owning. I can admit that I'm pretty irresponsible with my money just because I have the same mindset as you, it all ends in death so might as well buy shit now! lmao but also I don't think it's realistic for most of us to have significant savings until someone close to us dies. It's morbid, but it's true. I would never trade my mom/grandmother's life for all the money in the world, but losing them is also the only time in my life I will realistically be in a position to build up my savings. Unless I marry rich, but that's looking less and less likely!And we're in a unique position, because I don't think any previous generations had to deal with this to the extent that we do. Too many of us are competing for limited resources, and a change in legislation is the only thing I can see altering the situation in the long run. Which is why it's SO important for young people to be politically involved, it's our future these old people are dictating and I don't know about you, but I don't want to be 50 or have someone I love die before I'm content with where my finances are at.

My First Heartbreak

The broken family. Broken families are those families where parents doesn’t live together or separated. Children live with one of the parent, or many a time there are looked after by one of the grand parent. In such family, children have bad childhood as they witness the separation, or lack of parents love together. Many a time children suffer inwardly and it shows in the later stage of their life.

I experince my first heartbreak when my mom leaves me with my grandmother (that's my father side) and I was 2 years old at that time. My mother goes to kuwait and she worked there. My father was in our home and he was taking care of his cocks, and he was addicted in cock fighting with very large amount of bet he took a loosing streak so that my mother get angry with him. And he contiuned doing that thing. All of the money that my mother gave to my grandmother and grandfather and also to me was in my father and if he recieve that money he will go to the place of were there are fighting cocks. He always lose. So that my mother decides to break my father. So that i grown up with broken family. Every 2 years my mother visit me here in the philippines when I was 2 years up to 10 years old. But when 1 was 12 years old she visits me here yearly. she always support me what ever i need in my life,school or in my family. She is always in my back when sometimes i have a problem to be solve. She is always right there when i need so money in my sports. She is always supporting me in my varsity life. My dad is working in our home in Torres funeral homes, he is in flower arrangement. he is the one who teaches me at all. He stop goin in the cock fighthing. He find new leissure and that's in billiard and the one time he is one of the best billiard player here in san pablo city he is famous here in san pablo when talking in billiards. He earns money in billiard so that he can support me even though sometimes we don't have service in our funeral he can do a side line.

Im so lucky even though i have a broken family but stil they both supporting me always. I lknow that having broken family is the worst thing in this world because the only one you need in your life is your family. I grew up with broken family but still i passed it. Now im big boy and i know what is the right and wrong in life, my grandmother and my grandfather helps me to survive in that challenge. I know that im in broken family but still im so proud of them!

23 and me

And what a year of ambition it was. On my birthday last year I was becoming a NYC real estate agent and now one year later I’m working for the New Zealand government. In between that I’ve helped open 3 cafes, worked at many more establishments, began the process of becoming a Canadian and Australian citizen, moved across the world and began a healthier lifestyle.

Beginning the year of 23 in the best city of the world becoming a real estate agent, at the height of its lucrativeness and excitement. I joined one of the top firms in the city, and damn did I learn so much. Commission is so very much about consistency and perception, there is no such thing as an easy client. Also, this isn’t the business of playing nice, a lot of the aggression and hustle that I carry now is from telling landlords, building managers and other agents how I wanted things done. My managers told me things I didn’t want to hear everyday that I was in the office, I wasn’t in the office everyday because I was also opening NY’s latest gluten free and vegan cafe and working at one of LES’s best cocktail bars that was mentioned as one of the worlds best bars more than once. A lot on my plate, a lot of ambition, a lot of good ideas.

Not too much later, 20 days into being 23 I was walking to the newest Australian owned cafe in the Financial District with my utmost supportive housemate Morgan, and it was there under the scaffolding when I heard the *swoosh* of an incoming email, that email was from Australian immigration. My heart rushed, we walked a little faster to the cafe, was sat down to a beautiful sunlit corner booth and just some of the best waitstaff. We rushed to order coffee and connect to wifi to read further on the email from immigration. It read: your invitation to apply for permanent residency has been granted. When the coffee arrived to the table so did the tears, so there I was explaining my two year battle with Australian immigration to the waitstaff, my new found friends. The call to dad and mom were made, it was happening! A call to my immigration lawyer later that week and so so many happy tears later reared an ugly truth...this was all a false alarm. Without boring you with the details about Australian visa and every legal term there was a false approval with one of the steps necessary to apply for the permanent residency visa. Instead of being absolutely crushed(as I previously have been, it’s been a damn journey) I decided to take it and keep pushing, I’m now well on my way to good news from Australian Immigration!

I spent the summer experiencing NY between the moments I had between the countless jobs. The sunshine brought my first trip to the Hamptons, and a little pep in my step. Working at a world class bar, opening a gluten free, vegan cafe and dabbling into the newest Australian cafe that the Upper East Side has been gifted with. If not too much, way too much time inside of clubs with reeling hangovers the next day to be greeted with the bagel guy at our front door that we wisely ordered our second drink into the evening. Real estate was kicking my ass and teaching me things I never thought I’d learn. I’d gained so much weight that I was at my heaviest ever. Relationships if that’s what you want to call them came just as fast as they went. And somewhere among all of that I saw an opportunity to move to New Zealand, a mate of mine who I had lived with in Melbourne had recommended it and there I was after work(not sure which job) around 3am had me applying for my Working Holiday Visa for New Zealand, big breath in and hit apply. And there I sat and waited. But not for long....

Another Australian duo approached me to come and help their cafe in the Financial District, they heard about my work from the first project I worked on in New York. So, if you know me at all, you know what I told them. I told them yes, I’d love to help but I applied for a visa to move to New Zealand so I’ll be here until the end of August and that’s it. So we opened a cafe, I saw the first month of the project & I met another bunch of personalities and ran into new problems with opening cafes, yet so so rewarding. Emotions run so high when opening a new business and its cut throat out in NYC. But I left the venture to see the world knowing that Australia was well along the way for me and NYC got to have a taste of Australian coffee and cuisine.

A drunken taxi ride to Mexico, I had a very teary final evening in NY with my closest friends and from there I took a car to the airport with a few drinks in me and strings of goodbye texts that only lead to more tears. The plane that I boarded that night landed in Guadalajara, Mexico the next morning with my dad and his new retirement smile plastered on his face. When I left NY I packed all of my belongings but also knowing I’d be in Mexico for the first month, let me tell you that was an experience in its own and I have no advice for it. But from there dad and I toured many cities of Mexico preparing him for the long haul of retirement, we saw, we ate, we shook with the earthquakes, we drank, we beached, attempted fishing and we damn well conquered, I fell in love with Mexico City, its officially on the list of places I’d live, its bigger than NYC and its got a pulse and a hunger, the city does sleep unlike NYC, or should I say siésta! But I felt ready to get back to civilization and take a big breath before plunging into another hemisphere. A quick layover in LA included a Soulcycle class, Bouchon Bistro Beverly Hills and a drive down PCH to Laguna Beach, a trip that took me back and truly made me appreciate where I’m from, California is truly a slice of heaven.

New Zealand is called Middle Earth for a lot of reasons, I’m going to use it for the term being between the 20th and 21st century, they have Internet here, but it’s not far off from dial up, the Apple products are behind and some buses only come once an hour. My NYC pulse and plan of action got me settled within the first 24 hours, signing up for the gym, getting a library card, grocery shopping, having a phone plan, a tax file number and a bank account. But after that, my life came to an absolute halt with the pace that they move here, amount of breaks and minimum customer service my life had changed and it is very different than the life I lived a year ago. I’ve learned so much from being here about relaxing but found much frustration in it at the same time. I began working as a temporary chef, a new location everyday and different hours everyday, honestly it was perfect for me I’m not one for routine so it was great and I learned so much about the hospitality food scene at the same time. The food scene still to this day 6 months later has been uninspiring so far, so I’m still looking for innovation here but who knows where it’ll come from, I’ll keep looking and keep you posted.

As long as my parents have been divorced, which is as long as I can remember. They always call me within 5 mins apart, text me at the same time, if I’m on the phone with one, the other will call. Even when in separate countries, all three of us! In January I received those two calls that no one wants to hear. My mom called me to let me know my grandmother passed away, we weren't expecting this at all and I was shocked. A heavy heart and teary eyes I texted dad while mom was on speaker to let him know I’d be stateside and the second call came in...my other grandmother in Canada was at this point in palliative care now with a brain bleed and not much life to spare. Broken is the only way I can describe that moment, I got those phone calls around lunch time and I was on a plane home before sunset that day, even surrounded by my closest friends in New Zealand theres no where else I wanted to be than home. Being surrounded by family and old friends patched my heart up the most it could. I left one funeral in my black dress and flew to Canada directly after to catch the red eye to make it on time for the next funeral. My heart still hurts, but I have so much strength instilled in me from both of them, I am so lucky to have known them for my 23 years. But I am still healing and grief is a part of me now, I take it as it comes, it’s usually a lot but the good memories keep me going.

I came back to a windy Wellington with a clear mind. I decided to stop cooking food I’m not proud of and working for businesses who’s operation I don’t find to be up to standard. So I sold out and got an office job, but you know what? I love it. I’m well aware that’s the unpopular opinion, but know I have a structured life(and paycheck!), I can make it to the gym everyday on my lunch and I am fully capable of managing office stress from all that I’ve been through in kitchens. Although I know I’ll be back in kitchens when Im in Australia for the time being It’s great, my mind, body and soul thank me. I have so much time to cook at home, work on personal projects and stay healthy. So now I work for a temporary office work agency that places me on assignments for a few weeks at a time, I’ve worked in private asset managing previously and now I work for the New Zealand government, so I’d say it’s been a fuckin’ year of ambition.

In short, 23 taught me:

CAREER: Work smarter, not harder.

LOVE: The right time will come, it can not be predicted or planned.

LIFE: Don’t stop traveling

So, what’s in store of the 24th year? This is the year of SUCCESS
