LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW MANGA YAYYYYYY
lollipop chainsaw manga chapter 1
I scanlated the first chapter of the official lollipop chainsaw manga! it was originally released in 2012, and it has a bunch of prequel stories about the characters before the game. the first chapter is mostly the in-game intro in manga form. some of it was included in a Famitsu issue, so the first few pages are much better quality than the rest.
I didn’t really scan the pages, since I don’t want to damage my manga, but hopefully I’ll find a second copy someday. I hope the quality is readable enough! Also, I am NOT fluent in Japanese, im a beginner, so my translation is pretty rough in some spots. I researched a bunch to try and help but Juliet sure loves slang. hope it still makes sense. if anyone wants the Japanese pages instead, just lmk!!!
pages under cut or in above link

The case of the Blue- and Gold- sequin party people (Heartstopper S1E3)
When I first watched S1E3 ('Kiss'), I thought it was cute that there was a seemingly same-sex couple holding hands and wearing blue and yellow sequined bomber jackets (or teal and gold, more technically) in front of Charlie when he's queuing to go into Harry's party.
Tumblr media
Later I noticed 'Blue' and 'Gold' - as I'll refer to them for the purposes of this post - popping up throughout the party and wondered if there was a pattern. Upon further examination, there certainly seems to be..
Here's a list of where we see them, every time (that I noticed) that one or both of them are visible, with timestamps and screenshots.
Tumblr media
[5:14-5:30] As mentioned, we first see Gold and Blue holding hands whilst queuing in front of Charlie outside of Harry's party venue.
Tumblr media
[6:20-6:21] Blue is then briefly seen dancing while Charlie makes his way across the dance floor looking for Nick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[6:34-6:38] When Charlie and Nick meet in the middle of the dance floor ("I've been looking for you!"), Gold and Blue slip directly into frame behind them: Gold behind Charlie, Blue behind Nick. (Side note: All 4 are also lined up in front of the spotlight the way that Tara and Darcy are later when they kiss, and there are many precious rainbow lens flares going on between them)
Tumblr media
[8:39-11:36, non-inclusive] Blue is intermittently visible sitting on the left throughout Nick's conversation with Tara and then his clash with Harry.
Tumblr media
[11:38-11:40] When Nick walks away to find Charlie after calling Harry out on saying something homophobic, Gold is seen seated next to Blue in the wider/zoomed out shot of Harry and the lads.
Tumblr media
[14:38-14:39] When making his way across the dance floor looking for Charlie, Nick walks right past Blue.
Tumblr media
[14:40] A moment later, from a glimpse of Gold's sleeve on the right, we can tell Nick has walked between Blue and Gold.
Tumblr media
[14:46-14:47] And then we get a clearer close-up shot of Blue and Gold dancing together while Nick makes his way past them and farther into the room. Except for parts of Darcy and Tara's dancing/kissing, this is the only shot during this sequence (of Nick looking for Charlie on the dance floor) that picks out people in the crowd and/or is from Nick's POV.
Tumblr media
[15:46-15:51] Blue and Gold are dancing behind Darcy and Tara right before their kiss.
Tumblr media
[15:54-16:12 (+ 16:27-16:36)] And then especially Blue is visible most of the time Darcy and Tara are kissing.
Tumblr media
[16:13-16:15] Gold and Blue are also there in the first view of Nick after he sees Darcy and Tara kiss, with Blue much more visible.
Tumblr media
[16:47-16:50] Gold is briefly visible when Nick finally spots Charlie sitting on a(nother) couch.
Tumblr media
[17:59-18:02] Nick and Charlie then go past Gold and Blue (who is now visible too) on their way to "somewhere quieter again".
Tumblr media
Bonus: As perhaps a callback to the above, in S2E8 ('Perfect'), two of James's friends are wearing sequin gold and dark blue dresses, respectively, at the year 11 prom and dancing next to each other.
I hope you enjoyed this thorough dive into Blue and Gold's presence at Harry's party. I'm sure that there's potential for more nuanced interpretations, but on the relatively straightforward level, I appreciated what seemed to be a (surely) purposeful use of Blue and Gold during these scenes to show support for Nick and Charlie, indicate that their self-growth is progressing and provide reassurance that their romantic interest/relationship will prevail

Waiting For Thunder
It was too hot inside. So Redd and Lohn were out on the porch, waiting. Listening to the stormchasers’ radio feed - a faint chatter, ongoing, all treble and no bass. Listening to the rain. (Redd tenderly gives Lohn a haircut, and somehow they end up kissing.)

The Future of oldimgurpics
Hello everyone. Activity has been kind of sporadic again—sorry about that, prior engagements and all. Posts will resume again in the near future, but there's something we need to talk about.
Over the last six months, this account has received a massive amount of new followers—well over triple what it had one year ago today. That's insane to me, especially when I consider the fact I've been running this blog for just north of six years now. I am grateful that you all share my niche interest in these nuggets of internet history I keep picking from the sieve, and would like to keep doing this for a good while longer; even if my inconsistent posting runs counter to that.
However, I may not be able to for much longer.
What's going on?
Tumblr media
This was posted yesterday on imgur's blog. At first glance, this seems kind of dire, and while it is pretty bad, it's not as bad is may seem. Imgur has done this kind of thing before, and this has been evident to me for quite some time. When I generate new images, there are far more failed fetch requests than successful ones—often two failed requests for every one success—and when I started, this certainly was not the case. Not only that, but I'm sure some of you have spotted broken imgur links across the web before, especially on forums, especially on help forums. You know, the worst place for an image to be broken? Isn't that lovely? It's tinypic for a new generation.
The issue is not the fact that it's getting rid of pornography, nudity, and sexually explicit content—that would actually be a good thing if not solely for the amount of people's stray nudes that are floating around in the void that would no longer be waiting for someone to accidentally find. The problem is that there is no way to root through what is considered inappropriate content without collaterally annihilating huge swathes of unrelated, inoffensive content along with it unless you basically do what I've been doing, and I doubt imgur—or any company for that matter—would be willing to supply the manpower to do something like that.
Unfortunately, pretty much no matter what happens, we are probably going to lose a vast amount of internet history from this, and while the bulk of that is so far buried under imgur's content servers that most will never even see those images, I still think it's a bad move. Even beyond the fact that it may spell the end of this blog, I think it's garbage that companies can just piss away millions upon billions of images.
Regardless of how mundane and unimportant most of what's on those servers are, (barring the illegal and morally reprehensible stuff) I believe it all still deserves to exist. These images come together into a disgusting, muddy, misguided, tapestry made out of words, photographs, memories that were once woven together with times, places, and people. And while most of those threads have been long severed from each other, I still believe burning the whole thing is wrong. So much of it is a product of an online environment we will never see again.
What can you do about this?
Pretty much absolutely nothing. As much as I want to be like "flood their support! ask them to reverse their decision! find which dipshit exec made this decision and [REDACTED]!" I know for a fact that absolutely nobody at support has any power to do anything about this, and hardly any action can be taken to change the course they've already charted. That sounds incredibly pessimistic, but I'm not without reasons for being so.
Sure, we could raise concerns, and get it sent up the chain of command, but this is more than likely the same bullshit song and dance we see across every website: the parent company doesn't like all those icky images (the ones with the boobs and dicks, mind you. not the ones with bigotry, or gore, or other illicit subjects—to a corporation, these things have a possibility to generate revenue, so they're all fine), and wants them gone to appease the advertising overlords who want to scrub every blemish, imperfection, and deviation from every corner of online to make the internet as sterile and banal as inhumanly possible. Perhaps all of that is pure, bitter conjecture; but be honest: would you be surprised?
Many people (rightfully) make a big deal about sites like photobucket, tinypic, and imageshack all being huge image hosts of the late aughts who basically dumped all their servers without much notice at all, and how that broke so much of the old internet. And while that was devastating, I assure you that if imgur manages to mangle this (and I'm sure they will, like any big web company tends to) this will be much worse than all three of those sites shitting the bed combined.
Imgur has been the biggest image host for over a decade now, and considering the increase in net activity that correlates to their popularity growth, there's an enormous amount of content that's going to break/becoming missing as a result of this. There are countless reddit posts that depend on imgur hosting. There are countless forum posts that will be illegible as a result of this. Hopefully this will be nowhere near the catastrophic degree I'm prognosticating, but I've been online for two decades, seen this kind of thing happen time and time again, and it's always worse than it was the last time.
You are free to do what you will about it. I won't push one way or the other. It just sucks, folks! But that brings me to:
What am I going to do about this?
Well, since the future of the blog is so uncertain, I'm going to start planning around the possibility that I may not be able to generate images for much longer, so there will be a few changes.
I already try to save all the images on this blog to my hard drive locally. Every time you save an image on imgur, the default image name is the URL it comes from, so I'll still have tentative proof that what I post is an imgur pic even if the URL 404s. I'm going to start saving a lot more now, though.
Queued posting will slow down from 4 times a day to just one. I know that's quite a bit lower than my previous output (if you don't look at averages lol), but this will ensure the blog keeps going for a while, even if the worst comes to pass and I'm unable to generate anything else for this blog.
Hope I'm making a bigger deal over this than I need to be. There's a chance I've typed all this out, and in six months time it will have absolutely no effect on how this blog functions. A year from now, many posts may not actually break the way I expect them to. I would love it if all my concerns were over nothing—sometimes, being wrong kind of owns, and this would definitely be one of those cases, but I won't take chances. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Either way, thank you for reading, and please don't be afraid to shoot an ask my way.

ok since there is no place anymore to post not-safe-for-tumblr fan art, I am seriously considering archiving my stuff on ao3. Thoughts, experiences? Where do you host your images when uploading art to ao3?

Namekkos: The Clockwork Plane
On the plane of Namekkos, everything is mechanical. The beasts and birds whir and click across the land, the people wind themselves up each day, and even the vegetation consists of simple machines. Whether the plane was artificially created as a mad experiment by an oldwalker, or was once truly alive before technology ran unchecked, no one knows. To the inhabitants, this is what Namekkos has always been.
In the northern reaches of the continent of Terle, the Kosmengeve Empire plots dominion. Led by Kosmen, the self-titled World Mind, Kosmengeve is a singular hive mind that aims to enfold all sentient organisms into itself. The proliferation of telegraph technology in recent years has allowed Kosmen to rapidly extend its reach. The lack of wireless technology limits how fast Kosmengeve can expand; however, long enough exposure to Kosmen can break down an organism's individuality enough that, even disconnected from the World Mind briefly, it still thinks of itself as an extension of Kosmen. Having expanded to the northern border of Terle, the Empire now feels its way southward, where the people are less than pleased to be absorbed.
South of Kosmengeve and somewhat protected by the Gensto mountain range lies the Association of Artina. Led by the Council of Vyst, Artina is a scientifically-focused society. Home to artificers, bioengineers, and naturalists, Artinans believe that nature is the greatest inventor. That's no excuse for stagnation though: it is every person's right, and even imperative, to continuously improve the mechanisms of nature. The Association doesn't have an end goal in mind, but posits that the process itself is the point. The leading minds of Artina are known as clockmakers, and their latest discovery is a mysterious energy called anima, which may be the motive force powering all life on the plane.
To the south of Terle, on the smaller continent of Tersol, the Morex Syndicate is in control. Less a political structure and more a response to Kosmen's growing reach, the Syndicate is an anarchistic collection of individuals who simply want what's best for themselves. Inhabitants of Tersol disdain the Terlian notions of societal evolution; rather, they desire merely to be allowed to modify themselves however they want, and don't care how that impacts those around them.
Venser has come to Namekkos while in search of another metal world. Intrigued by the artifice he finds, he decides to spend just a little time looking around, and discovers something shocking. He meets a promising young naturalist named Temmar; to Venser's surprise, he can tell that Temmar has a planeswalker spark, throwing into question what it means to be alive. As the Kosmengeve Empire presses into Artinan territory, Temmar gets thrown into the labyrinth of Association higher political and academic circles, while also trying to study this stranger who seems to be studying him in return.
