(I love cross-body bags but they always make me look fat in photos.)
Visiting the Transat-winning IMOCA Paprec Arkéa at One Brooklyn Marina!
But wait, where were all of the others? The website said several IMOCA racers had their designated slips here! Fortunately, some members of the Prysmian Group support team were around setting up fenders, so I asked them! It turns out most of the racers found the conditions and facilities at the other Brooklyn marina, Moonbeam Gateway, more suitable and moved there. According to MarineTraffic, Holcim, Maitre Coq, Bureau Vallee, Malizia, and Initiatives Coeur are all at Moonbeam, next to the old Floyd Bennett Field within Gateway National Recreation Area.
I wasn’t able to get there today, but I’m going to try on Sunday when we’re in the area.

Reposting artist Yann Legendre- Epic! A few days ago, it was the reveal of the "Dragon of the Oceans", the new sailboat of the skipper Maxime Sorel for which I had the honour to create the dragon. His new boat will be sailing “The Vendée Globe” which is an unassisted, single-handed non-stop race around the world. Godspeed @maximesorel ! . Team Malizia's IMOCA race yacht is back in the water with a new set of foils || Sail-World
Spring has made its way to Lorient. The first flowers are blooming and the IMOCA racing boats are, just like the blossoms, gradually appearing, emerging one by one from their sheds after three months of winter refit. Yesterday, Team Malizia launched their Malizia - Seaexplorer and now she is back in her usual spot at La Base harbour. With a few adjustments and a new pair of foils, both the boat and team are ready to start the first training sessions and solo races of the year.

Just a quick note to followers, although I am following The Ocean Race, I likely won’t be blogging about it. There is only so many hours in the day!
Frankly, using the IMOCA foils in the Southern Ocean on a super LONG leg seems to me a recipe for disaster because the ability to slow down and not speed up is key.
Talk about alarms ringing and being in continual crisis management on the boats. Thank g*d they are using an autopilot to steer the boats, because the crews have enough to contend with…And let’s not talk about difficulties eating, drinking, being sea sick while attending to one’s natural needs combined with the biggest sleep deficits known to sailors.
Anyway, I sincerely hope that I am wrong about this iteration of The Ocean Race. Especially since they have announced that the IMOCAs will be used for the next iteration of the The Ocean Race and the The Ocean Race Europe as well.
NO BETS on the number of boats who will actually finish this race.

33 & 34 😊
33. I worked as a volunteer for the Ocean Race which is the toughest ocean race in the world and it was amazing, I met a lot of different ppl from different countries, got inside of an IMOCA which is the type of the boat the race, stayed till morning drinking with the crews and guiding them through tourist points, it was amazing.
34. I love to sing and memorize every song but I have some favorite songs:
Only Angel - Harry Styles
She Will be Loved - Maroon 5 (I'm a star with this one on a kareoke bar lmao)
Killer Queen - Queen
Fool's Gold - One Direction
That's What You Get - Paramore
Chlorine - Twenty One Pilots
I Bet You Think About Me - Taylor Swift
and I'll stop here

HEY WAKE UP! It's almost tiiiiiimeeee!
Ohoh. The Ocean Race is starting! Yay!
I haven’t really been following. So the older VO65s will just be doing three of the shorter Europe-adjacent legs, while the Imoca boats will be doing the round-the-world thing. Sounds like fun!
