#impeach brett kavanaugh

Quote
"Justice Elena Kagan memorably castigated him for treating 'judging as scorekeeping,' whining about 'how unfair it is' when he loses, and repeating the same bad arguments 'at a higher volume.' Justice Sonia Sotomayor has repeatedly accused him of outright dishonesty by misrepresenting precedent and dangling false promises. In a fed-up dissent in just her first term, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson compared a Kavanaugh majority opinion to the children’s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. [Samul] Alito’s rebuttal to Kavanaugh’s dissent in Sackett v. EPAconsisted of exactly one sentence: Kavanaugh’s argument, Alito wrote, 'cannot be taken seriously.'"
Justices are 'losing patience': Brett Kavanaugh skewered as a 'lightweight' in brutal analysis
Hold up.
This guy?

“The consequences will extend long past my nomination. The consequences will be with us for decades. This grotesque character assassination will dissuade confident and good people of all political persuasions from serving our country, and as we all know, in the political system of the early 2000s, what goes around comes around.”
This piece of shit?
Tumblr media
The guy who spent his entire life as a right wing activist judge, who was part of the Brooks Brothers “riot”, snarled and barked and insulted the Senate Judiciary Committee during his farcical confirmation hearing, who lied repeatedly about his history of sexual assault, his gambling debts, and threatened to explicitly hurt people who he views as antagonistic to him ... turns out to be an intellectual lightweight in the mold of Thomas? He doesn’t give a flying fuck about law or justice or precedent, he just wants to hurt people he doesn’t like under the color of law?
Wow. None of us saw that coming.

I have never been sexually abused, but I’ve been thinking about how it’s weirdly hard to get people to care about sexual abuse or other crimes unless it fits a certain narrative or perpetuates a pre-existing bigotry….
. if you acknowledge sexual abuse in the film/tv industry then anti semitic people will say it’s because Jewish people control Hollywood 🙄.
. If you acknowledge sexual abuse in the music industry then people will focus on the black men in rap music and perpetuate racist stereotypes
. Sexual abuse in the Catholic Church is now more widely known, but there are still people who will use that to feed into religious conflicts between Catholics and Protestants and perpetuate conspiracy theories. Abuse in Protestant groups and in other religions has yet to be covered in the same way.
. LGBT people are disproportionately likely to be victims of abuse but are being called groomers???
. People blame cases of incest on if they are from the American south 🙄
. Most cases of abuse are against children, but also FULLY GROWN ADULT WOMEN have also been speaking about sexual misconduct for SEVERAL DECADES and are still being blamed on their clothing and called “unlikable” for making a fuss 😤
It’s just so sad that at least one of these narratives always pops up whenever a man can actually even get convicted which is still rare. When will people realize that the root of this is problem is hierarchy of power and not whatever group of people you don’t like.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday said that the Supreme Court has “gone rogue” after it overturned Roe v. Wade last month, a move that upset Democrats who say several justices had not been forthcoming about their feelings regarding the 1973 landmark abortion rights decision during their confirmation hearings.
Ocasio-Cortez said the move from the conservative wing means a number of changes should be considered for the high court.
“I believe impeachment should be on the table. I believe court expansion should be on the table. I believe that ethics rules should be on the table. I believe that recusal requirements should be on the table,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters.
“I think all of it should be considered right now. And we shouldn’t be putting any tools out because of … the degree of which this court has gone rogue.”
Ocasio-Cortez also noted one Supreme Court Justice whom she believed should be impeached.
“I believe that Clarence Thomas should be impeached without a shadow of a doubt,” the New York Democrat said.
Ocasio-Cortez noted a letter that she and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) wrote to Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) asking Democrats in the upper chamber to take a position on whether Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who were also a part of the majority opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, had lied under oath during their confirmation process.
Not all Senate Democrats, however, are on board with considering impeachment against some of the Supreme Court Justices that joined the majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
“I don’t think it’s realistic,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told “Fox News Sunday” over the weekend regarding impeaching Thomas. “I think it’s a mistake as to whether he’s going to be impeached. It’s not realistic, but [Thomas] should show good judgment. If this court is going to be credible, it has to be as apolitical as possible.”
Responding to Durbin’s apprehension about considering impeachment against Supreme Court Justices, Ocasio-Cortez called it a “crisis of legitimacy.”
“Here’s where I think there’s a very serious issue: Is the United States Senate about to establish a new precedent that it is now acceptable and there will be no consequence for a nominee to lie to duly-elected members of the United States Senate in order to secure a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land?” she asked.

It is with a heavy heart that we must call for the impeachment of Supreme Court justices who have perjured themselves before Congress. The United States of America is a nation built on the rule of law, and the integrity of our judicial system is essential to maintaining that rule of law.
The Supreme Court of the United States is one of the most important institutions in our government. Its decisions have far-reaching consequences, shaping the direction of our nation for years to come. As such, the justices who serve on the Court must be held to the highest standards of integrity and honesty.
When a Supreme Court justice perjures themselves before Congress, they betray that trust and undermine the very foundation of our judicial system. Perjury is a serious crime, and it is one that we cannot tolerate, especially from those who hold such an important position in our government.
The Constitution of the United States provides for the impeachment of any civil officer who commits high crimes and misdemeanors. Perjury before Congress certainly qualifies as a high crime, and it is incumbent upon Congress to take action to remove any justices who have committed such a crime.
We understand that the impeachment of a Supreme Court justice is a serious matter, one that should not be taken lightly. However, we believe that the integrity of our judicial system is more important than any individual justice. If we allow those who have perjured themselves to remain on the Court, we risk undermining the very foundation of our democracy.
We call on Congress to take action to impeach any Supreme Court justices who have perjured themselves before Congress. It is time to uphold the rule of law and restore the integrity of our judicial system. The future of our democracy depends on it.

This fucking asshole.
Who voted against conviction in Trump's first impeachment.
Who confirmed Brett Kavanaugh and gaslighted the nation about it.
Who expects us all to believe that she is shocked -- shocked -- to just learn now, in the far off future year of 2023, that she's been enabling, protecting, and promoting Fascism.
Get fucked, you piece of shit. You did this. You own this.

In the last two weeks alone, Trump's Supreme Court has:
Overturned Roe v. Wade.
Severely limited Miranda protections by ruling that citizens can't sue the cops who don't read them their Constitutional rights.
Expanded gun rights less than two months after schoolchildren were slaughtered and weeks after a racist shooting in a community supermarket, by striking down sensible New York gun control laws.
And now eviscerated the power of the EPA to do its job and try to protect against climate change by ruling it can't regulate emissions from power plants.
These "justices" are not only legislating from the bench and making decisions that are stripping human rights and WILL CAUSE DEATHS in opposition to decades of precedent (50 years for Roe, 60 for Miranda, 110 for the NY gun laws):
Many of them are unfit to serve.
Clarence Thomas's wife is an insurrectionist and election denier who is refusing to cooperate with the January 6 committee. Thomas has also not recused himself from decisions regarding the January 6 committee. He is married to a literal traitor to this country and has blatant conflict of interest. He MUST resign or be impeached and removed.
Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the bench was rammed through the Senate despite credible accusations that he is a rapist (as well as possibly guilty of financial misconduct or crimes). Investigators refused to consider evidence. This investigation must be reopened, and if more evidence is presented (as I suspect it will be), he should be impeached, removed, and prosecuted.
Neil Gorsuch perjured himself in his Senate confirmation hearings about Roe. He said he recognized and respected it as the law of the land, yet last week he cosigned Alito's reactionary brief that claimed not only that Roe was not law, but that it never had been. Thus Gorsuch should be impeached, removed, and if possible prosecuted for lying under oath.
While I don't know of evidence that Amy Coney Barrett is legally unfit to serve (despite being a far-right-wing reactionary), her appointment was illegitimate under the Republicans' own arbitrary rules: they refused to even consider Obama's candidate for the Court after Scalia's death because it was "in an election year" although that was MARCH, then forced through Barrett's a WEEK before the election (and less than a month after RBG's death). Senate Republicans need to acknowledge that either her appointment or Gorsuch's was illegitimate (and McConnell should be censured for it).

he post-Joe McCarthy era and the candidacy of Barry Goldwater once prompted liberal political scientist Richard Hofstadter to chronicle a supposedly long-standing right-wing “paranoid style” of conspiracy-fed extremism.
But far more common, especially in the 21st century, has been a left-wing, hysterical style of inventing scandals and manipulating perceived tensions for political advantage.
Or, in the immortal words of Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, “Never let a serious crisis go to waste.”
The 2008 economic emergency crested on September 7, with the near collapse of the home mortgage industry.
Obama took office on January 20, 2009, more than four months after the meltdown. In that interim, the officials had finally restored financial confidence and plotted a course of economic recovery.
No matter. The Obama administration never stopped hyping the financial meltdown as if it had just occurred. That way, it rammed through Obamacare, massive deficit spending, and the vast expansion of the federal government. All that stymied economic growth and recovery for years.
In 2016, Donald Trump was declared Hitler-like and an existential threat to democracy.
Amid this derangement syndrome, any means necessary to stop him were justified: the Russian collusion hoax, impeachment over a phone call, or the Hunter laptop disinformation farce.
Eventually, the left sought to normalize the once unthinkable: removing the leading presidential candidate from state ballots and indicting him in state and local courts.
Nothing was off limits—not forging a federal court document, calling for a military coup, rioting on Inauguration Day, or radically changing the way Americans voted in presidential elections.
In October 2017, allegations surfaced about serial sexual predation by liberal cinema icon Harvey Weinstein.
The #MeToo furor immediately followed.
At first, accusers properly outed dozens of mostly liberal celebrities, actors, authors, and CEOs for their prior and mostly covered-up sexual harassment and often assault.
But soon, the once legitimate movement had morphed into general hysteria. Thousands of men (and women) were persecuted for alleged offenses, often sexual banter or rude repartee, committed decades prior.
#MeToo jumped the shark with the left-wing effort to take down conservative Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Would-be accusers surfaced from his high school days, 35 years earlier, but without any supporting evidence or witnesses for their wild, lurid charges.
#MeToo hysteria ended when too many liberal grandees were endangered. Most dramatically, former Joe Biden senatorial aide Tara Reade came forward during the 2020 campaign cycle with charges that front-runner Joe Biden had once sexually assaulted her—and was trashed by the liberal media.
The outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States during the winter of 2020 prompted an even greater hysteria.
Without scientific evidence, federal health czars Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins were able to convince the Trump administration to shut down the economy in the country’s first national quarantine.
Suddenly, it became a thought crime to question the wisdom of six-foot social distancing, of mandatory mask wearing, of the Wuhan virology lab’s origin of the COVID virus, or of off-label use of prescription drugs.
Left-wing politicians and celebrities, from Hillary Clinton and Gavin Newsom to Jane Fonda, all blurted out the political advantages that the lockdowns offered—from recalibrating capitalism and health care to ensuring the 2020 defeat of Donald Trump.
The COVID hysteria magically ended when Joe Biden won the 2020 election. Suddenly, the lies about the bat or pangolin origins of the virus faded. The damage from the quarantines could no longer be repressed. And herd immunity gradually mitigated the epidemic.
The lockdown caused untold economic chaos, suicides, and health crises.
One result was the 120 days of looting, arson, death, destruction, and violence spawned by Antifa and Black Lives Matter in the aftermath of the tragic death of George Floyd while in police custody in May 2020.
Suddenly, a hysterical lie took hold: American police were waging war against black males.
The details around Floyd’s sudden death—he was in the act of committing a felony, resisting arrest, suffering from coronary artery disease and the after-effects of COVID, and being high on dangerous drugs—were off limits.
The riot toll reached $2 billion in property damage, over 35 deaths, and 1,500 injured law enforcement officers. A federal courthouse, a police precinct, and a historic church were torched.
Police forces were defunded. Emboldened left-wing prosecutors nullified existing laws.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion commissars spread throughout American higher education as meritocracy came under assault.
Racial essentialism triumphed. Racially segregated dorms, campus spaces, and graduations were normalized.
Everything from destroying the southern border to dropping SAT requirements for college admission followed.
Sometimes real, sometimes hyped crises lead to these contrived left-wing hysterias—like the January 6 violent “armed insurrection” or the “fascist” “ultra-MAGA” threat.
Otherwise, the progressive movement cannot enact its unpopular agendas. So it must scare the people silly and gin up chaos to destroy its perceived enemies—any crisis it can.

Kavanaugh asks if a "creative prosecutor" could go after former presidents with the same charges Trump faces
Justice Brett Kavanaugh asked the special counsel’s lawyer whether a “creative prosecutor” could have charged previous presidents with the same charges Trump is facing in the federal election subversion case. “The problem is the vague statute,” Kavanaugh said, citing the obstruction and conspiracy to defraud the United States charges that Trump is facing in this case. The charges, Kavanaugh said, “can be used against a lot of presidential activities, historically, with a creative prosecutor who wants to go after a president.”
via @cnnpolitics
Could someone have gone after a past president for "obstruction and conspiracy to defraud the United States"? No, because no past president has ever done so, save maybe for Nixon (who has been discussed).
Could a creative prosecutor go after past (or seated) presidents for any damn fool thing they could think up, just to gum up the works? Oh absolutely, and I'll lay odds it starts happening but quick if this doesn't go the way Republicans like. But will such attempts go anywhere? No, because (again) no other president has tried anything this blatant and extreme.
But yeah, I totally expect to hear the wackbat wing of the Republican party start claiming they're going to go after Biden for the "wrong citrus fruit" kind of actions that the former president (correctly) predicted when he talked (incorrectly) about how dangerous it was for him to be impeached.
