I finally got time to finish this silly lil comic!

Somepony on Instagram said that Picard would like Discord, I'd say they're not entirely wrong. (For those of you who don't know, John De Lancie is Discord's voice actor and also a strong source of inspiration for his character despite the fact that John avoided using his 'Q' voice for his lines)

So I have my own ships obviously, but I'm a multi shipper at heart because I believe that multiple things can be true at once. Infinite possibilities with infinite parallel universes that inhabit different ships.

BUT for MLP more than anything I am a fluttercord shipper. It's what I care the very most about, it's the most appealing ship to me. It's the only MLP ship I've written fanfiction for. Everything else is up in the air for the most part.

I see the chemistry between all the pony combinations really, so I couldn't just pick between rarijack, appledash, raridash y'know? Like many people, I say just put them all together.

I also believe that in a parallel universe a mane six polycule does exist, and this is actually what I supported the most BEFORE I rewatched MLP with my new developed brain. I had originally watched it as a child, and didn't finish it because I didn't have cable. But now I have seen all the Fluttershy and Discord interactions and my eyes are open now.

It's fine if you don't agree with me, like I said, I believe in everything being true at the same time with the power of imagination

BEFORE WE DIVE IN: I don’t HATE fluttercord.Its cute, I don’t ship it personally but the ship gives me so much nostalgia that it’s hard for me to hate. They’re cute together, I DO SEE IT. Because it’s implied in the show but never confirmed.

I just dislike the trope and that’s the main thing.

On another note, I just never liked fluttercord. Plus, whoever designed screwball made her look more like a pinkie/twilight weird ass love child. I love her to death but ermmm..

One thing that amuses me about the Fluttercord SDCC set, is that by Hasbro refusing to make an alternate Discord figure, they end up implying an alternate universe where they become friends while he's still evil. Or that she's joined him perhaps, especially with her being added to his stained glass window on the back of the box lmao

Fluttershy Deserved Better (and so did Discord's character): A Vent

So, I kind of really hate the character of Discord in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

For the longest time I assumed the reason for that hate was just fan-scorn as I used to ship Dislestia back in the day and that ship didn’t happen. ((If you were back in the Brony fandom from 2011-2014 and you remember this one animatic by a channel called “Heaven’s Light” yeah that was an adaptation of a doodle comic I made in like 10th grade or something. Que 'Memory' from Cats! starts playing. The beauty of teenage hood cringe~)).

Anyway if you know anything about later season FiM you know that (implied) Fluttercord happened instead and I just presumed for the longest time that it was me being pissy at that that was the reason I hated Discord. And, I guess, in a way, it is…but I hate Fluttercord and Discord as a character for reasons that go beyond that fan shipping pettiness. Nowadays I hate Fluttercord for Fluttershy’s sake rather than Celestia. ‘Canon!Dislestia’ is dead to me and Fluttershy deserves SO MUCH BETTER because I find seasons 3-9 Discord utterly loathsome and annoying. There really isn’t anyone to blame for that, of course. Writers liked Discord and wanted Discord in their show and also he was a fan favorite that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Cope.

To TL;DR for a second: it’s very obvious they did not know what to do with this character at first, and then by the time they DID know what they wanted to do with his character it REALLY wasn’t done well. All the beats they wanted to happen for Discord’s character: him realizing he doesn’t mind Fluttershy and suddenly really wants her as a friend but is clingy, possessive and not good at not causing chaos -> betrays her because of insecurities but then gets betrayed himself and makes up for it somehow -> slowly befriends the other mane 6 and others -> evolving into his true form of ‘problematic reality warping friend’; all of that is great ON PAPER. In execution, especially among the billion other things the series felt like cramming into single episodes or story lines, it fell apart.

The episodes “Discordantly Conduct” and “Make New Friends but Keep Discord” should have happened in season 4 BEFORE his betrayal, as it would have shown Discord as both a potential ally and still also a powerful nuisance. It would have been a good set up but they didn’t do that. They did all that AFTER the fact. And no, that’s not some genius level writing cuz it’s in ‘reverse’ or something so lol ‘chaos’ -it’s just bad writing.

I hated Discord after he betrayed Fluttershy and the show felt like really delving into their friendship after the fact. It bothers me almost as much as the complaint that Fluttershy’s problem is that her ‘plot points always repeat themselves’ as if that critique doesn’t apply to ALL the mane six. Flutters deserves better. Discord’s face-turn had all the right pieces in place from the start: Fluttershy being the only pony who he couldn’t manipulate in his premiere and so underestimated her; him wanting a friend but being really bad at it; Fluttershy being both cross but understanding and him eventually being helpful somehow to all of Equestria. But it was all SO poorly executed. I get tired of other MLP fans thinking that because there are badfaith actors calling out those problems with the show you, have to support the writers and Hasbro NO MATTER WHAT THEY WRITE. Nah. I don’t have to do that. I don’t have to pester the writers like it’s their job to do what I want, but it doesn’t mean I have to like the show and all their decisions.

With Friendship is Magic being over six seasons and like five movies longer then the stuff I actually liked in season 1-3, I can’t honestly call myself a ‘fan’, I don’t think. Discord sucks and he deserved better writing than what the show did for him.

I think they made/almost made jack+dash cannon too? But I’d have to check the scrapped script. There was definitely an implied ship but can’t remember exactly who other than fluttercord. The only two I liked from the fandom music was pinkie’s brew(originally named something worse) and discord.

It really isn’t- honestly sitcoms probably have more of those jokes in a single episode.

Sorry if the messege felt long, I was kind in a rush. I thought the 3 things you were going to freak out the most was Sunset removal in The Last Problem, that fact that we were going to get an elements of disharmony featuring many returning villains and the fact that Fluttercord almost became canon. Also maybe the fact that Cozy Glow was supposed to have a different gender, species and a reason to be evil.

Oh, I actually knew most of those things! I replied fast bc I'm cookin a tasty as bobó de camarão over here. I will say most of this doesnt faze me bc the addition or removal of one thing or another wouldn't have really fixed the problems with the finale. Sunset making a proper true cameo and being shown loving life would have been fuckin great, but... Oh well. It is what it is.

We can already guess that shes living her best life considering how EQG ended up, it would have been nice seeing it happen, but still. Also kind of funny that one of the straight ships didn't get canonized. Shipping shouldn't ever be an exercize of adhering strictly to canon anyways, so it doesn't rly matter-- One bullet dodged, I guess. Ngl. Maybe I woulda preffered if Appledash wasn't the one confimed instead of fluttercord. Like. At the very least one of these doesnt specifically imply Rarity died single and alone. yikes.

Fluttershy is kind... to animals. But not much else. (aka Fluttershy is the worst, rant post)

1. Dragonshy episode - "But you're bigger than she is" so violence is okay? This was pointed out by YouTuber "Hoomanity T.V." when Fluttershy defends Rainbow Dash (who spent the whole episode trash-talking Fluttershy btw) from her actions against the dragon. This episode could've been resolved better, and my 30something work buddy agrees. (I got her to start watching season 1)

2. Phoenix episode - why would anyone, in their right mind, steal someone else's pet? Even if you had the best intentions, I would prolly lose my head if someone stole my furbaby. It doesn't even matter if you think you can heal said pet. In the first place, Fluttershy didn't even know what Celestia's pet was, let alone what was ailing her. It would've been more interesting if it was a pet-death situation, and my nephew thinks so too.

3. Bats episode - Tiktok videos like the one above have started to analyze the episode and have concluded that Fluttershy was really selfish that episode. It would've been fine if the apple trees were only like a hobby, but Applejack and her family literally depend on those trees for food and income. Not just that, but the Acres is a pretty large food provider for ponies. Fluttershy asking them to let the bats mooch off of the Apples is not a good way to teach kids about compromise. I know some smartass Gen Alpha kids that asked me "How long Applejack's gotta wait for those apples to grow back? Is Granny Smith gonna starve to death?" and boy did I realize why the kids I babysit would never like MLP.

4. Kirin Episode - Fluttershy did not wanna listen to Autumn's opinion because apparently having a voice and using it could hurt the forest. As Autumn Blaze said, "Rainbows can't light up the sky unless you let it rain," but Fluttershy doesn't care about that. Because Fluttershy believes there's only 1 correct way, and that's her way.

5. FlutterCord - My niece, nephew and bestie teamed up to tell me that I should never be in a relationship with someone like Fluttershy who likes to imply "Do this for me or else I..." she's dangling the proverbial carrot in Discord's face. AND HE LETS HER. Because he's so desperate for love.
