The Killers have 3 eras in my mind

1. hot fuss + sams town + day & age

2pt1. battle born

2pt2. wonderful wonderful

3. imploding the mirage + pressure machine

but it’s so much more interesting to look at how the eras interact. Sawdust was released before Day & Age, but I think of it as existing in the first half of the 2nd era. The in-between times. Sawdust and Battle Born are asking the audience what now? And I think Direct Hits digs the grave for the body to lay in and says Whatever. The band you knew is dead. Wonderful Wonderful picks up the corpse and tries to do something with it. It mostly succeeds, but we both know something vital was lost.

And of course, Pressure Machine. It’s designed to be the second half to Imploding the Mirage! They were made with each other in mind! But I’m so many ways, it’s the direct response (sister) to Sam’s Town. They have the same color scheme, imagery, hometown focus. Sam’s Town is the work of a young adult chafing with how they were raised, desperate to leave, and Pressure Machine is the return. Realizing you were never meant to go anywhere else. It spans the eras to tell the listener that they were wrong! They are Bruce Springsteen living 15 minutes away from where they grew up! And that may not be what we want to hear, but it’s what they have to tell. The Killers has always been a band about call and response.

here's a bunch of my takes about spn and the killers rapidfire: sam's town is 100% the most Lyrically spn killers album Overall but pressure machine is the other side of the same coin so it's a very close second even though the songs are less general and applicable. sam's town is also the most sam album by leaps and bounds not just bc of the name, it's also the best killers album so huge win for sam girls (me). day & age is an insanely dean album, wonderful wonderful is a cas album which i swear is not an insult, imploding the mirage is a jack album but also generally too happy for spn. hot fuss doesn't really have supernatural vibes overall but all these things that i've done is def a supernatural song. battle born is a weird album but the rising tide would make such a good mv. get trashed is the moc dean era theme song (bad), peace of mind should have been named mr brightside

THANK U! this is a good one. i have been having a mini killers revitalization phase (imploding the mirage kinda hits and also sams town era angst is back??). fun fact when i was like 14 i would probably have said they were my favorite band (my immediate post-mcr phase). i think this is probably a pretty consistent list for me...sorry 2 hot fuss...

hey victims, i need some advice! 

1) when should i start using the album art for imploding the mirage for these posts (assuming that once the era really gets going there will be more submissions again)? should i just start now, or wait until the album is out?

2) what emoji should i use in my description to symbolize itm? i have a few ideas but i welcome any suggestions you have!

0 because he's so rough and I need to be present for it. Like-- neck bruises and me explaining to my dentist why the roof of my mouth is bruised rough 🧍🏻‍♂️

ZERO because we'd be in love with each other and it'd be sweet and gentle.

0 because not sober I'd try to grab his hair and spit in his mouth and call him a slut. I don't think he'd like that.

0 because he is so straight edge that kissing would make him drunk. Either way, we'd both get tired in the middle of a hand job and go to bed.
