Last week we lost our little floof of feistiness, Kapi (originally known as BunBun before we adopted him, then changed to KapiBun, named after the character Kapibarasan).

It has been a long weekend and the days immediately following his passing were sad, lonely, and exhausting.

I adopted Kapi from the SF Animal Care & Control in January 2013, as I was looking for a new soft friend after my little ball of fury, Pixel the dwarf hamster, died suddenly (likely from a heart attack from running too much). I read up on rabbits and prepared for having one at home. I hadn’t seen Kapi’s photo’s up on the SFACC adoptable friends so I was looking forward to meeting a few other buns in mind. As I passed his cage, he immediately ran to the metal door with his nose out and wanted attention — more than any of the other rabbits. I met with a couple other bunnies first; one was so scared he peed right by my leg then hopped away. Then I decided to meet and greet Kapi.

As soon as they let him out with me, he was curious and super friendly. He binkied around me and wanted so many pets. The staff told me he had been surrendered just a few days after Christmas, but whoever his owner was treated and trained him well and he was really well socialized and was at least 1 year old and no more than 2 years old. I loved him, but I went home to think about it.

I went back the next day to get him because I didn’t want anyone else to have him.

Kapi was such a welcome joy in my life at a time where a lot of things started falling apart. He always zoomed around, hopped up on the couch, and demanded attention from me. The way he got spoiled grew and grew, as the living room was soon taken over by him as he needed a bigger pen, more space, and more toys and more attention. He traveled to work with me the first year I had him and got so much love from many people.

Over the next decade almost, he continued to be a fire in my life; with all the ruined plushes and towels, territorial acts, and even stressful speed dating (not always successful) came a lot of cuddles, laughs, and fun.

Even though he was stressful at times, he never got sick or needed an emergency trip to the vet. And he also eventually learned to welcome another bun into his life, Kylo, in 2018.

In October of this year, his annual checkup showed he had lost about 10% of his body weight and he had muscle atrophy. We noticed he was a little bit more tired looking than usual this year, but he was still feisty in the mornings for his vitamins, always ran out and around, and groomed Kylo. The vet said he was “too young” to have arthritis (which I didn’t believe for a second because he was already at least 11 years old); we ran lab tests and his bloodwork came back fine. We put Kapi back on joint supplements and we switched our water bowls out for a water bottle because Kapi was overdrinking and dunking his head in the bowls and couldn’t seem to control himself. This seemed to help him retain a more food after a while and prevented his chin fur from getting soaked and matted constantly, but he was starting to lose his litterbox habits and we noticed much more pee spots on the playmat even though the litterbox was cleaned two to three times a week. We treated him to pellets to help him gain weight. Some nights we did a little PT on his hind legs.

But suddenly a week ago he started falling over more. While he still came out for vitamins when he heard treat bags and waited at the pen door to get some pellets, he was looking more and more tired as the days went on. We would hear him fall because we would hear struggling a little as he couldn’t get himself back up.

We called the vet and scheduled a checkup for the 20th to get him tested for e. cuniculi, because Kylo had tested positive in April but stopped showing symptoms after being on metacam for a week.

A few days after we scheduled that visit, Kapi was found unable to move in his little castle. He couldn’t run out for morning vitamins. He would drink or eat even though he was drinking from the bottle and eating hay, pellets, and fresh veggies just the night before and running (though tripping and falling) around while we were awake. We couldn’t get an emergency visit with our regular vet so we were referred to a place in Berkeley that was 24 hours, so we drove him there and called them that we were on the way.

In the car, I got him to munch on some parsley. I had to prop him up with his little paws on my hand. He would chew for a little bit and then stop, tired. He was still fighting.

When we got to the emergency room, they took him in and said he was in critical condition. The emergency vet didn’t believe he it was e. cuniculi causing his condition, despite us catching her up on his history from this year, and just noted he was a geriatric rabbit especially at his older age of 11. His heartbeat barely registered and he was extremely cold (around 90 degrees, where he should be closer to 100 to 105). He was struggling.

We spent our final hours with him at the emergency vet and we gave him some pellets and celery, which he still munched on, but his chewing and breathing was so labored and he could barely keep his eyes open. His little nose slowed down until it didn’t wiggle anymore. I know he fought so hard.

It hit very hard going home without him.

He meant so much to this home. We’ll never forget him.

Rest in parsley, little dude. And say hi to Kitfo over the rainbow bridge; we’ll keep an eye on Kylo for you.

CRISTINA SCABBIA Says Next LACUNA COIL Album Won't Arrive Before 2024

During an appearance on the latest episode of Knotfest's "She's With The Band", the show hosted by Tori Kravitz and Alicia Atout aiming to amplify the voices of women on stage, backstage and in the business, LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2019's "Black Anima" album. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We are already writing music. But I think it's going to be 2024 [before the new album is released].

"The problem is not really the music that we write. But now, in order to deliver a record, it takes a lot more time," she explained. "The pandemic delayed everything. And metal music is maybe the only genre in which the physical support [is] still very important. Because there are a lot of collectors, a lot of fans [who] really want to keep the copy of the record in their hand. And it takes time to print vinyls, to print CDs. You need sometimes one year in between the delivering of the master and the release of the record, because you have to set up a lot of things. That's why I'm talking about 2024. Maybe we will record an album in 2023, but it probably will be delivered in 2024. But we are definitely writing new music."

Earlier this month, LACUNA COIL released a new single, "Never Dawn". For the track, LACUNA COIL partnered with CMON, the renowned board game publisher behind the popular game "Zombicide". "Never Dawn" is a notable addition to CMON's latest Kickstarter project, "Zombicide: White Death", and was initially used as an instrumental version in a campaign trailer. The game introduces new characters, mechanics, and challenges for players to overcome, and the upcoming "White Death" version features five LACUNA COIL limited-edition survivor tokens.

Designed by Nicolas Raoult, one of the designers of the original "Zombicide", along with Jean-Baptiste Lullien and Raphaël Guiton, "Zombicide: White Death" is a sequel to the fantasy spinoff version of "Zombicide" with a new wintery theme. The third installment in this series, it follows "Zombicide: Black Plague", which introduced the concept in 2016, and "Zombicide Green Horde", which came out in 2018.

LACUNA COIL has spent the last few months promoting "Comalies XX", the recently released "deconstructed" and "transported" version of the band's third album, "Comalies".

"Comalies XX" was made available on October 14, 2022 via Century Media Records.

LACUNA COIL celebrated the 20th anniversary of "Comalies", by performing it in its entirety at a one-night-only concert on October 15, 2022 at Fabrique in Milano.

"Comalies" was originally released on October 29, 2002 through Century Media Records. The LP, which featured the band's breakthrough single "Heaven's A Lie", has reportedly gone on to sell over 300,000 copies in the United States alone.

LACUNA COIL played its first show in front of an audience in more than two years on April 7, 2022 as the support act for APOCALYPTICA at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia.

Prior to the Atlanta concert, the last time LACUNA COIL played together was at the group's special September 2020 livestream event where the bandmembers performed "Black Anima" in its entirety with no audience in attendance at the Alcatraz Club in Milan, Italy. That show was released as a live album, "Live From The Apocalypse", via Century Media.

Well, I am torn.

I am reading the Bunshun article (roughly translated) where the reporter just buzzed in and diametrically questioned Takahiro Sakurai (he was the voice of Claude Faustus, Osomatsu, Reigen, Rohan Kishibe, Geto Suguru, and other iconic characters) about his extramarital affair. And the famous Japanese voice actor, shocked, but in a true Japanese fashion, calmly displayed his composure and replied to the accusations confirming that he, in fact, has been cheating on his wife for 20 years and is dating someone from work for almost a decade, who didn’t know that he was married. That happened on the 20th of October. Three days later, he would announce on Twitter that he’d quit his nine-year radio show. Hours ago, Bunshun, considered to be practising a “guerrilla type of journalism,” a head better than UK’s sensational media Daily Fail probably, broke the news. This media outlet caused a few people in the Japanese government to quit their jobs. (“Reporters for the big media are salarymen,” he continues. “If they knew it was a scoop they’d go after it but they don’t get it. It’s like having muscles you don’t use - when they atrophy, they’re useless. I’m asked all the time why we get scoops. The simplest way to answer that is that we seriously go looking for them. We have to.”)

If Takahiro would be a celebrity from the West, he would either ignore the reporter or go ballistic for the intrusive questions.

It is no wonder that the Japanese seiyūs don’t even give a glimpse of their private life. The fans tend to be possessive. Japanese VAs hold a certain charisma like a commanding Hollywood A-lister. Them marrying will break their fans’ hearts. I still remember when Kenjiro Tsuda was forced to reveal that he is married via his Instagram account after another weekly magazine carried out the news.

Thing is, Takahiro isn’t a saint. He isn’t perfect. What he did from an outsider’s point of view is totally shitty. But, we don’t know the real deal of the story. We don’t know him, his wife, nor his lover. We don’t know anything at all. We don’t know what happened behind closed doors.

If one reads the Bunshun articles, especially the one that came out in September, the reporter stalked him, including interviewing his neighbours. What triggered this pursuit was Takahiro Sakurai’s slip in 2018. The recent one was conjured using a tip the reporter received from Takahiro’s anonymous co-worker. The reporter called him X.

In 2018, it was already reported that he was already married with a slip of a tongue and in September his management was forced to issue a notice after Bunshun carried the news that he was married complete with paparazzi photos! If he’d lose all the accomplishments he has built since the 1990s, would it be a retribution? Is it our business, to be honest? Who are we to judge him harshly? I don’t know what kind of damage control can he and/or his management still do. It is pretty getting viral at this point. They are already speculating that he’d lose everything. Yes, fuck, he cheated. But he didn’t harass someone nor murder them and got away with it. But, yes, adultery is a big deal for many. It is a big deal for me.

We have to learn to separate the artists from their works. It would only make a difference how grave the offence is (see Roman Polanski, for example).

In a way, I am quite disappointed. Is all.

Watching a bootleg of Phantom on YouTube because we don't have a DVD player right now and Phantom is only streaming if you pay for it right now.

I first saw this musical 20 years ago (well, it will be 20 years ago in October, didn't quite get to 20 years. I wanted to see it for my birthday this year in October for the 20th anniversary of seeing it on Broadway but unfortunately that won't happen, even though I'm moving close to New York later this month).

I am so glad I got to see it three times on Broadway when in New York last month. I didn't know if I'd be able to see it again and I ended up seeing it three times on that trip. Such a beautiful production.

I heard Laird Mackintosh is the Phantom for the final performance? Is that true? I love him. Ten years ago he was I think Andre when I saw it twice on Broadway. He's put so much into Phantom. I also heard that Ben hasn't performed at all this month. Strange. I hope he's okay.

The first (Oct. 2003), second and third (Nov. 2013) times I saw Phantom on Broadway, Hugh Panaro was the Phantom and he's one of my favorites (as you might guess from the icon), even though the first was ten years before the second and third (that I saw two days in a row).

The fourth, fifth and sixth times (which was last month, March 2023, two days in a row then one day break in between for the third) it was Ben Crawford.

Somewhere between that I saw it twice on tour, once at Pantages with Chris Mann (July 2015) and the other at the Segerstrom with Derrick Davis (July 2019). I'd previously met Chris Mann on his tour for The Voice.

Also Love Never Dies at the Pantages with Gardar Thor Cortes as Mister Y (April 2018).

I still have the DVD of the 2004 movie I got as soon as it came out on DVD when I was like 8 (9? When did the DVD itself come out?) it doesn't work anymore and I have a different one to replace it as well as the 25th anniversary production of course.

I really need to buy a Playbill to replace the one from when I saw it in 2003, which I have seen some on ebay so at some point I will get one. I also really want to replace the Andrew Lloyd Webber 2002 Gold CD which was the first way I listened to any Phantom songs before I saw it live. I fell in love with Music of the Night at 6 years old before I even saw the musical. This musical has meant so much to me and it helped me through a lot when I was 16-18, and the height of my Phantom obsession. I am still very proud of the Phantom collection I have, every English translation of the original novel and a French language one of course, so many DVDs and a few VHS tapes, CDs, cassette tapes, books of and about Phantom and its adaptations. I've written papers on this story for college. I have seen so many adaptations, met my best friend and love because of Phantom and had many wonderful friendships because of this story.

I will miss you, Phantom on Broadway, which was my first introduction to this wonderful, tragic story. I will see you again once you come back for your inevitable revival at some point in the future. 35 years is a long time and you've had a great run. The Majestic won't be the same without you. Break a leg to whatever will be in the Majestic next having to deal with any lingering ghosts in that theatre! The Phantom will always haunt that stage, I'm sure, it's been his home for 35 years. You are a beautiful theatre and it will be so strange to see something else in the Phantom's place.

Historical Context The history of Akasaka as a Hanamachi starts in 1869, when it was established with 20 Geisha in three Okiya. In 1883, it was ranked as 24th lowest of 25 Hanamachi in Tokyo. During the Russo-Japanese war (1904/05), Akasaka's wealth grew: by 1906, there were 65 Okiya, the most famous ones being Harumoto 春本 and Hayashi-ya 林家, both with more than 12 Geisha each. The legacy of Harumoto lives on with present-day Okiya like Kazuharumoto 一春本 and Hisamomoharumoto 久桃春本. The number of Geisha and Hangyoku living there reached its peak in the late 1920's (1928: 425). In 1986 the last Akasaka Hangyoku of the 20th century debuted. In 2014, Sakura was the first of currently three Hangyoku of a new generation. In 2022, 21 Geisha work in Akasaka.

Notes Hangyoku are a rare thing in Akasaka. The first Hangyoku to debut since 1986 was Sakura (さくら) in 2014. I could find only one picture of her online of when she still was a Minarai. After her came Koume (小梅), who was active for three years (2016-18), but there aren't a lot of pictures of her online. Mameka (まめ夏), who debuted in 2018 and became a Geisha in 2021, graced us with her own instagram account, posting many pictures of her outfits, so she is basically my only source for "the look of Akasaka Hangyoku". Kikumaru is my only source for the way a Geisha is outfitted at debut. When Mameka debuted in October 2018, she wore a wig and continued to do so until February 2019. It also seems there isn't a uniform tradition revolving around Hangyoku debuts in this district. Koume wore Kofurisode, minimal hair decoration and had only her lower lip painted red. Mameka wore Chû-Furisode, normal hair decoration (as described above in "Kanzashi") and had both lips painted red. Regarding Kôken Musubi. It seems the difference between "normal" and "Jidai" Kôken Musubi are the folds in the middle of the upper edge

"I'm sorry love" her hands reaches towards you, you were hesitant but give in and hold her hand. "It's alright but next time please leave a note or text" she nods as you two walk together back home. She had her flaws but you still loved her.

The old post was all out of order, so I did an update. Here is some timeline info on recovery from bad anesthesia reactions for those that end up in the same sad boat. When I first saw Rocky I thought it would have been better for him to have not come back. He was stiff as a board and twitching, completely unable to do anything, even eat or drink, but I'm so glad we tried. He's basically completely recovered and I want people to know that there is a chance for things to work themselves out if you give them the time to do so.

March 9, 2018

Last Sunday Rocky was taken to the vet for a blocked urethra.  After the surgery the vet found that he was still blocked a did a second surgery to unblock him. During the surgery he died, but was revived with cpr. He did not react well to the anesthesia. He was comatose with unreactive pupils and did not move till the next morning. His muscles are rigid and twitch.

Day 2 he could lift his head but did not react or move otherwise but his pupils reacted to light. He was placed on a iv and feeding tube.

Day 3  He was looking around, making eye contact and ate a small amount of canned food. He has good blood work, is stable, and improves every day. He still cannot get up, but the vet thinks with time and physical therapy that he will. He is a fighter and we want to give him every chance to get better.

March 20th Rocky is home. He is able to eat on his now and can walk, if unsteadily. We noticed he seemed unable to see, and a vet check today confirmed that the anesthesia left him blind. He can find his food and water dishes, but not the litter box. His coordination is still bad, but getting better. We will have to wait and see if he regains any sight.

Rocky is doing well! He’s eating 2 cans a day now and seems to have memorized the layout of the house. We noticed when we took him outside to get some sunshine that he squinting his eyes. So we are hoping that he can see strong light and shadows.

Still blind but doing well. He has a more normal gait now with only a little high stepping when he’s unsure. He is still on pain pills for his nerve pain but seems to need them less often. Rocky is off all of this medication. :D He no longer has nerve pain and runs round and behaves like a normal cat. He’s still blind but has adapted really well. You’d never know by the way he moves and acts. The only reason we know is that he fails the menace test.

We were so worried he’d be neurologically deficient. But he relearned everything, how to eat, drink, walk, and use the litter box… It took time, but he did learn those things! We didn’t know if he’d make it, but we knew he should have the chances we could provide him. And six months later our hard work has paid off.

I figured I’d do a big post because we were so sure that we’d have to give up on him. There is so little data on recovery rates or even chances with cats that have died under anesthesia. It was so frustrating to not see any long term reports that had anything to do with recovery from catastrophic events (death, resuscitation). No one could tell us anything, even the vets. So hopefully this will help someone in the future if they happen to land in this same terrible spot.

Rocky passed the menace test today. We aren't entirely sure what that means sight wise. Could mean he sees movement, or just high contrast light or shadow, but he sees something. At least has some ability to process what he's seeing now. We probably will never know since we can't really ask him, but I'm glad he has some vision back.

Now I have to sit and think bc April does have a birthday in Season 1 but by the end of Season 1 she's been 18 long enough to get her crane operator license, so it doesn't make sense for season 1 to take place in less than 2 calendar years... but we know that evil league of mutants takes place on the 13th anniversary of the turtles mutation so it either needs to take place MUCH earlier in the timeline or we need to disregard any canon reference to April being 16 during season 1. if she starts the season as a 17 year old then the timeline works for season 1 being late August through March 20th

I am not willing to entertain the idea that april exists in a universe where you don't have to be 18 to get a crane operator license in New York! sorry!

anyway I have to ponder this because my HEART tells me this was just a bonkers 8 or 9 month period so April's canon age can't be right for ANY point in the show

KOKIA in flashback - 2019

KOKIA continues her 20th anniversary celebrations in 2019. The DVD release Journey to Me compliments last year's retrospective Bird Watching in that it only covers her performances from the year before, so the anniversary that Bird Watching was leading up to. Her March concerts are fittingly called Graduation, as she graduated from the 20 years before, and looks towards the future.

On April 29, her 21th anniversary and thus the end of her 20th anniversary year, KOKIA releases  ALIVE - The live history -, her first live best-of album, with the limited first edition in an LP-sized jacket (it still has CDs in it, not an LP). For the first time, KOKIA holds a live stream today: her LINE Live, in which she performs and chats about the album ánd her first book, Happii ryoku ('happy power'). It's about child rearing, which KOKIA now has experience with as Leo is turning 3 years old this year. The theme kind of carries over as she also releases her first ever picture book, Mama no daijisan (My life with my precious), with text in both English and Japanese. Finally, she releases her second jazz album, Watching from Above vol. 2, once again featuring Leo on the cover.

KOKIA also brings back her 2016 concert LAYERS, although this time, she brings it over to Shanghai!

The Gatehouse - Ardverikie House by FotoFling Scotland Via Flickr: Ardverikie House is a 19th-century Scottish baronial house in Kinloch Laggan, Newtonmore, Inverness-shire, Scottish Highlands. The house was made famous as the fictional Glenbogle estate in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen. The lands historically belonged to Clan Macpherson. The 20th chief, Ewen Macpherson, leased Benalder and Ardverikie in 1844 to The 2nd Marquess of Abercorn, an Ulster-Scots peer, "one of the trend setters in the emerging interest in deer stalking in Scotland." The Marquess expanded the original shooting lodge. He served as Groom of the Stool to Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, who along with the prince spent three weeks at Ardverikie in the late summer of 1847. In 1860, Lord Abercorn transferred the lease to Lord Henry Bentinck, another stalking enthusiast, who lived there until his death in 1870. Sir John Ramsden purchased the Ardverikie and Benalder forests in 1871 for £107,500 (equivalent to £10,083,219 in 2019). In 1873, the house was destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt from 1874 to 1878. It was rebuilt in the popular style of Scottish baronial architecture, designed by the architect John Rhind. Ramsden's son, Sir John Frecheville Ramsden, inherited the lands after his father's death in 1914. I have so many theories that doesn't make sense and are just gut feelings. One them is about Down Bad. Remember when deuxmoi said Taylor was at Harry's show in London i think? It was mid june? So...

Fortnight shows that the guy saves her from the torture. Harry pulls her out of the matty situation after he leaves (i still believe the last time they saw eachother was before the 20th May show and they weren't seen together again which makes me think if harry had something to do with other than just being there for her after he used and left her)

Deuxmoi says there were Taylor sighting at Harry's show in London so they may have started talking late may. Maybe she contacted him again and this time he didn't push her away. So it'd make sense that she felt love bombed "rocked her world" as she says in the audio for Down Bad. But it only lasted for a fortnight. Because after she visited him and came back TR was spotted with Jeff according to the timeline. So she may have felt betrayed again that's why she's so angry.

Down Bad was recorded on 29 June.

Also she mentions is CSSM that he needed drug more than her which i think is referring to this time period more like the last few months and I saw a lot readers and blinds say that he was doing too much drugs. Or it could be a metaphor and bait and switch to make it look like it's about matty

Also we don't know when CSSM was written and it mentions him marrying someone from the internet (which may be a reference to TR or mh gf who is a internet persona i think idk) but it ties back to the 1 so it's obviously about Harry. Then again most of the songs seem like they're about more than one person so i don't really know. And the way maylors are trying to claim every song from the past as mh is so annoying and I live Taylor's business strategy but i sometimes hate how she lets people be so obviously to haylor and this fandom is also allergic to her writing about Harry. They don't believe she would be writing about him for all these years and i think that's one of the topic of BDILH

I suspect the Haylor fortnight is before MH and Joever went public, I think when Harry was in NY for the MSG residency and they both attended TIFF. Probably when Harry started wearing the Peace Ring again 7 September 2022 - 10 October 2022.

I suspect they got back together in May 2023, but it didn’t last. MH wasn’t seen with Taylor after

Maylor was last seen on 12 May 2023 the same day there were blinds he was talking badly about Taylor so I think it was over then. The 18 May sighting was without photos, never reported together again.

Then on the Haylor anniversary 20 May she said her life finally made sense and question brought happy memories before playing it.

So, there's quite a bit going on here, so let's get through this.

Yes, I know I already posted a segment from this show, but I felt that I couldn't just leave it at one segment. The segments for this night were rather packed (or at least more packed than the Halloween shows in 2017 and 2018). Plus, I wanted an excuse to show how the main Fridays studio looked during October 2019.

About the Harley Quinn costume, it turned out that nearly all of the girls in the audience dressed as Harley Quinn for some reason. Nothing wrong about it, just kinda weird.

Tara wasn't wearing a wig for her costume. She actually dyed her hair yellow for the costume. This is why her hair would remain yellow for the rest of the year.

Now, since this is my last post of the month, does that mean that I'm finished with Fridays art? Not at all; I'll still be posting Fridays art, just not as much as I did this month. I gotta get to preparing for my 20th birthday this Saturday.

Oct. 3, 2008: Rachel Getting Married opens

In Oct. 2008, Jonathan Demme's family drama was released. The big thing people talked about at the time was Anne Hathaway's performance, which was nominated for an Oscar. But the movie itself has actually gotten better each time I've returned to it. There's so many Demme trademarks in this (numerous previous collaborators have cameos, love and passion of music, handheld documentary-like camera work, etc) and it's worth re-visiting. It's a movie I saw with my now-wife just before we actually got married! Happy 15 RGM!

Oct. 4, 1968: Night of the Living Dead opens

In Oct. 1968, one of the greatest horror films ever was released. George A. Romero's zombie flick has stood the test of time. When I met him in 2015, he signed my DVD. Here my piece I wrote in 2018. Happy 55 NOTLD!

Oct. 12, 1993: Vs. and Aurora Gory Alice released

On the same day in 1993, two of my favorite alt-rock albums of that era were released. Pearl Jam's second album Vs. was released. After the massive success of Ten, I was starting to feel a little burned-out on PJ by the time Vs. came out. That had nothing to do with the band or their musical abilities, just that I played the hell out of the album and needed to decompress. But loads of friends were heavy into the Vs. album and I eventually was lead to buying it after hearing some of the songs on radio. It's easily one of their best albums! In 2013, I included the album in my Top 5 PJ Albums and while a lot has changed since that list, but if I had to re-do the list, Vs. would still make the cut. Boston alt-rockers Letters To Cleo brought an element of power pop and melodicism to the Alternative Nation. The debut album Aurora Gory Alice was first released on CherryDisc, but in 1994 it was re-issued on Giant around the same time "Here and Now" was featured on the Melrose Place soundtrack and critiqued by Beavis and Butt-Head. But it was singer Kay Hanley's voice and the entire band's songwriting that has made this one of my favorites of the 90s. Years later I got to interview Kay and guitarist Greg McKenna for my documentary Life on the V: The Story of V66 and here on this site. Happy 30th Vs. and AGA!

Oct. 13, 1993: Nightmare Before Christmas opens

In Oct. 1993, the stop-motion animation Halloween / Christmas classic was released. I saw it opening night in the movie theater and was blown away by it. I've seen it many times at both holidays over the years and now I watch it with my son. Happy 30th NBC!

Oct. 21, 2003: Streetcore released

In October 2003, the final album from Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros was released posthumously after Strummer's 2002 death. It's as if the Mescaleros saved the best for last: this was their best album and its just as good if not better than Strummer's work with The Clash. I named this my #1 Album of 2003. Happy 20th Streetcore!

In early October 2023, A war between Israeli and Palestinian pop ups because Hamas unexpectedly launched rockets to israel that caused injuries and deaths of many people including children and elders. One day after the attack the Israel formally declared war against Hamas, The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were then given the order to impose a "complete siege" on Gaza by the defense minister. Since then, the two sides have engaged in daily rocket exchanges, and Israel has issued an evacuation order for more than a million Palestinian people living in northern Gaza in preparation for a potential ground invasion.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict dates to the nineteenth century. The partition plan, also known as Resolution 181, was adopted by the UN in 1947 and aimed to create separate Arab and Jewish states inside the British Mandate of Palestine. The State of Israel was established on May 14, 1948, which precipitated the first Arab-Israeli War. Israel won the battle in 1949, but 750,000 Palestinians were forced to flee their place of residence, and the area was partitioned into the State of Israel, the West Bank (west of the Jordan River), and the Gaza Strip.

The conflict's historical origins date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries when Jewish and Arab nationalist movements emerged, leading to competing claims over the same land. These historical disputes lay the foundation for the ongoing tensions. At the core of the conflict is a dispute over territory. Both Israelis and Palestinians seek control over the same land, including East Jerusalem, which holds religious significance for Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Competing territorial claims have been a central point of contention.

Also, Israel had to conduct military operations and establish border security due to security threats posed by Palestinian militant groups. For the Israeli government, ensuring the safety and security of its citizens comes first. Additionally, religion plays a big role in the conflict, especially in Jerusalem. The Western Wall, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are among the significant religious sites in the city for Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. The ownership of these locations has been a source of conflict, and religion has a big part to play in that conflict.

Jewish Perspective: The area that is now Israel holds significant historical and religious meaning for many Jews. It is regarded as the promised land that the Jewish people received according to biblical accounts. The Western Wall, the final piece of the Second Temple, is located in Jerusalem, which occupies a significant place in Jewish religious tradition.

Muslims shows Al-Aqsa Mosque is a key holy location for Muslims, and Jerusalem is the third holiest city in Islam. It is thought to be the spot where the Prophet Muhammad traveled at night. The region is more sensitive to religion because of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque's significance to Islam.

For Christians, the area has religious significance as well. A popular destination for pilgrims is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is thought to be the location of Jesus Christ's execution, interment, and resurrection.

From now they're still fighting for the Gaza strip. Especially Hamas, they've killed hundreds of people because of their brutality using equipments.
