🇺🇲 Dive into the past with the IBM WatchPad, an early glimpse into the future of smartwatches!
⌚️ Back in June 2000, IBM unveiled a groundbreaking prototype—a wristwatch powered by Linux. Initially boasting just 6 hours of battery life, this tech marvel was later upgraded to a respectable 12 hours, featuring 8 MB of RAM and running on Linux 2.2.
⚙️ As innovation surged, so did the WatchPad's capabilities. With additions like an accelerometer, vibrating mechanism, and fingerprint sensor, IBM teamed up with Citizen Watch Co. to unleash the ultimate wearable tech—the "WatchPad 1.5". Sporting a 320 × 240 QVGA monochrome touch-sensitive display and running Linux 2.4, it also packed calendar software, Bluetooth, 8 MB of RAM, and 16 MB of flash memory.
💰 With hopes of targeting students and businessmen alike, Citizen set the retail price around $399, making the WatchPad a tantalizing glimpse into the future of wearable tech. Would you have splurged on this piece of history?

(i have no idea how it works in the comics im just spitballing) if lyla is a hologram maybe she's connected to a computer or some other, large, physical, central repository. in maybe a basement, climate controlled, good air circulation. Racks, cables, shelves, system health displays. Picture the movie's styling of the inner workings of Nueva York, but less heat.
Intimate but not comfortable. tall ceilings, like the rest of hq, but every inch is full of ports and things going into ports and the tall chassis holding it all together. All the way up. Spider-web cris-crossing. it's probably so loud and full of flashing indicators it's unpleasant to be in for long. But occasionally someone has to. And it's probably always Miguel because I can't imagine him trusting anyone else with it, but it's such a huge operation how do you do it alone? I digress. Lots of entrances. Maybe he slides down a utility ladder like he's going into the sewers.
Having to fix this thing in the first place has him in a bad mood, so naturally the fans start whirling full speed and 'shred' his little holo-cape to bits and throw his hair in a mess. a sci-fi movie hand sensor takes its damn time recognizing his fingerprints, and when it does the door veeeeery tepidly rolls up. The problem's not a huge enough deal for him to be, like, pissed, but it's just enough of a headache to make him do something silly like trying to crawl under the half-open door. Lyla gets this on camera, which he doesn't know but definitely assumes.
A turn, maybe a flight of stairs, and he comes to the root of the problem, which is down a long, darkened hallway. cramped quarters, but he can just make out an indicator light a ways away. It flashes, and then the walls wake up with strobes and a dot matrix forming massive arrows, right over there. Ta-daaaaa. the light show dies out again, maybe he laughs a little.

It can be unlocked with wet hands The top-end flagship smartphone Xiaomi 14 Ultra will receive an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and will become the only smartphone in the line with such a solution. This was reported by insider Digital Chat Station. Judging by previously published information, Xiaomi14 Ultra should use an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner manufactured by Goodix, and not a Qualcomm solution. Compared with traditional optical fingerprint solutions, pulses emitted by ultrasonic sensors can recognize unique fingerprints to generate 3D depth data, thereby achieving higher accuracy. When ultrasonic waves identify fingerprints, the screen does not need to be turned up to high brightness. More importantly, smartphones with ultrasonic fingerprint sensors can be unlocked with wet hands. Traditional phones with optical fingerprints will not unlock in such cases. Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be the only smartphone in this flagship [caption id="attachment_85486" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Xiaomi 14 Ultra[/caption] Previously, the same source reported that the main camera will support a variable aperture that can be adjusted from F/1.6 to F/4.0, fixing the amount of light entering the image sensor. The 50-megapixel sensor of the main camera of Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be Sony LYT900. This sensor is an optimized version of the Sony IMX989 and has an optical format of 1 inch. It is also stated that Dual Conversion Gain technology will improve image quality by reducing the amount of noise. It is expected that Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 mobile platform and will receive up to 1 TB of flash memory. It will be released in the first quarter of next year. Digital Chat Station was the first to accurately report the specifications and release dates of the Redmi K60 and Xiaomi 14.
