Most people believe the things that most people believe
The Hugo debacle resulted from the choices of Americans: that much should be clear. There was no heavy Chinese jackboot pressing on the back of anyone's throat. But I think that boiling their actions down to "using the excuse of censorship to pre-ban works they did not like" wrongly casts this as a sort of deliberate, manipulative act.
Nearly all Westerners think China is remarkably oppressive: those who do not tend to be deeply involved in left-wing politics or have some kind of special connection to China. The overwhelming masses here are not doublethinking, they're not saying words they don't mean: they believe it. So why is it so hard to grasp that a handful of random Americans would believe that an unaltered slate would get censored?
Like, read those emails, the actual document, not the one-line summary given by a snarky tumblr post. Do they scream "all this talk of censorship and all these instructions to investigate specific political topics is a sham, all I need is a flimsy pretext to get rid of the authors I've already decided I'll ban"? Or might these people have different beliefs about the world than you? Might they genuinely think it is best for them to self-censor?
The decision of the Hugo committee was without doubt craven, nontransparent, and unprincipled. If the board's belief that they were simply pre-empting inevitable censorship was incorrect, it was additionally pointless and somewhat racist. But the idea that it was manipulative, that the committee knew they could submit any slate they wanted and chose to disqualify nominees anyway, that idea gets asserted with a lot of confidence for something that seems really unlikely to me!

Thoughts I had during TGCF Season 2 Ep 1
I’ve finished my quarter and I am spending my spring break reacting to Season 2! Let’s make this reaction series count!
-Welcome back to Puqi Village people, at morning and known for their chestnuts!  (The best nuts I’ve had outta the packet!)
-We are back at Puqi Shrine people!
-And the Altar is packed!
-Instrumental Hong Jue!!!
-Did he oversleep?
-Aww he’s so lonely! :’(
-Dang.  That is a clear stream
-Eeeeyep, he is thirsty!
-And a water droplet fell past his freaking throat!  They just had to animate that!
-It’s the same ring from last Ep!
-You mean, ‘Gege’ Yeah, I’ve already typed this, “I watch the English Dub religiously” Don’t judge me!
-It is the same ring people!!!
-Oooh he hid it!
-Yep like two years for us in 2023
-Oh her eye bags got deeper and darker
-Welp it just got serious
-Looks like we’re back in heaven
-They added 3D palace shots and camera panning
-Woah that was a really good transition with the bell toll
-I wonder what kept the emperor all season…
-Feng Xin!
-Mu Qing!
-It’s that female Blue robed NPC from Ep 4 on his far left!
-*Looks at how the camera pans up to the Heavenly Capital* My Oc Qing Tao is like: The Oldest Enemy I know, stairs…
-New opening people woo!!!
-New opening animation had me sold!!!  They really improved 2 years later
-I love how the music switches from a majestic powerful orchestra tune to a comical xylophone like leitmotif upon introducing Xie Lian.  To say, “And then there’s that guy.  Then there’s that guy.”
-Social Distancing, Ancient Chinese Pantheon Style
-Man tough crowd today!
-And after every official flees the Trash god, one of my Junior Official OCs, Long He goes, “Huh, who is that dude?”  And then his dad, a Civil God will say, “That dude is the Crown Prince of Xianle.  His highness crown prince Xie Lian!” And then that Civil god begrudgingly brings his palm to his face.
-*Hears Mengyou calling his highness*: Ladies, Gentlemen and Enby friends, Him!
-This has the energy of giving someone a lanyard pass to visit a certain building
-“It’s not that hard!”  “You ascended hundreds of years ago you know better!” “Now keep it with you!”  Only like 4 minutes into the first Ep and that NPC is already getting the best lines.  (More of Lang Qianqiu’s trusty assistant later this season folks!)
-He sounds just like the English actor for Elam, Justin Briner, from the Heroic Legend of Arslan (another awesome historical manga!)  Coincidentally, Elam is also one of Arslan’s most trusted Allies.
-I can’t wait to write more of my ATLA x TGCF crossover, The Scrap Immortal and the Avatar, just imagine the Gaang’s reaction to learning that there’s more than one crown prince worshipped!
-Man, it’s like I always say, “The rumor mill’s always a’runnin!”  Or water wheel since it’s ancient China
-Hi Ling Wen, man what kind of product did she use to hide those eye bags???
-I’ve started reading the Manhua series so, Huh? No cursed shackle?
-It’s been days and you still haven’t found the Moldy faced boy from Episode 3???
-I also can’t wait to write Aangs reaction inside that huge throne room, (“It’s bigger than the one in Ba Sing Se!”)
-Now we’re actually seeing the emperor, the first time was in the Episode 1 flashback near the end
-Now we get the first appearance of Pei Ming, who appeared in the Flashback of Ep 3
-Well that sounded patronizing coming from Pei Ming
-Now Pei Xiu has to reap what he sowed.
-Yep that’s a kill count
-I love how this next scene is basically,
Pei Ming: Your Highness, please tell everyone who accompanied you?  Then Xie Lian starts to compose an alibi:  Ah yes!  I will do that.  It was incredible!  What did we get swept in a sandstorm or something?  Oh yes! It was just a youth in red robes who was knowledgeable about the Ban Yue kingdom.  <- This incorrect quote is inspired by Zuko and Iroh lying to Commander Zhao about the state of their ship in episode 3, The Southern Air Temple.  (Does anyone else think that Xie Lian, is what would happen if you combined both Iroh and Zuko?)
-The face Xie Lian made when he’s trying to keep fibbing and brought his index finger to his cheek that was good body language
-Hi Windmaster.
-Oooh Feng Xin and Mu Qing
-Welp you tried keeping him innocent Xie Lian
-Not as complicated as your love life, maybe I should do a Pei Ming roast count?
-Hey Xie Lian is smarter than you look
-Pei Xiu still wants to protect Ban Yue even facing his impending banishment.
-Ok that line and Pei Ming’s attempt to kick Pei Xiu does seem like an abusive action in my perspective.
-Woah, and that was Jun Wu’s own gavel.
-Well that was a short trial
-Him calling Xie Lian to stay, has the exact energy of a teacher calling one student to stay after class to talk.
-Ling Wen is now talking with Jun Wu
- Now that was a really brief meet up between the Xianle trio.
-Thank you Wind Master, and they are a savage!
-Well he’s still mad
-*Sees Qianqiu still asleep standing up*: XDXDXDXDXD
-Aw he woke him up!
-Don’t worry honey, you didn’t miss much anyway
-How in the heck was he able to doze off through all that shouting. I almost fell asleep in a lecture and that’s nothing compared to TaiHua’s feat
-*Hears Jun Wu speak like*: Oh gods! Why did they have to make him sound so seductive! He’s like an East Asian Belos! (And I’m still busy working on Murder They Cast’s first phase)
-Oh Xie Lian’s expression when Jun Wu talks to him, it’s concerning!
-That soft “forgive me”
-I mean we learned about his huge failure in Season 1
-“How Disappointing!” STOP!!!
-Oooh I didn’t notice this during the rewatch but they played a stringed instrumental version of Bu San.
-Srsly HOW BIG IS HIS FREAKING PALACE?!?!?!
-A mural of heaven
-You gotta love Xie Lian’s modesty
-“Such a low opinion” yep his voice is like liquid gold and it is pure torture!
-“How’d you seduce trouble this time!” That tease in his voice why!!!!
-Aw good for you Xie Lian
-Just you wait till the second half of this season
-It’s their version of shooting a flare gun
-Oooh from left to right is Feng Xin, an unknown person behind him, next there’s Ling Wen(with what happens later in the series), Lang Qianqiu in the middle, Mu Qing is next, then there’s Pei Ming in front of him, and the last guy might be Quan’s Yizhen since he also appears in the 2nd half of the series. I hope I found every martial god
-Also the Thunder Master (my OC Leishi) tends to work part time
-There are retired officials???
-In tsiata (my TGCF x ATLA crossover, The Scrap immortal and the Avatar) Ghost City is more modernized than the Spirit World, since it’s mostly untamed wilderness
-Oh he had balls defending San Lang people
-“Your majesty makes me sound like a little princess” yeah that’s what you are honey
Tumblr media
-That pose! I was watching this ep with my older sister and she said, “Man is draping himself!”
-He’s gonna touch the scimitar, isn’t he? (I’ve watched clips of Season 2 before doing my reaction posts)
-And Xie Lian still has the best preferences good on him!
-Xianle trio mention
- And I still think clearing the debt should’ve taken longer, but that’s just my small nitpick
-Yeah nobody round here can keep a secret
- *Sees Jun Wu walk up to Xie Lian reminding him to be careful and puts his hand on his shoulder*: That’s too much pressure!!!
- “I had it erected for you.” James Cheek totally had fun writing Season 2’s script
-I can see why he prefers his own shrine over how massive and opulent his new palace is.
-Hi Windmaster
-Ooh a pond reflection
-Yep that’s your traveling parter
-Then he just fans himself and he instantly slays
-Jacob Eiseman had fun with his performance and ate up every crumb
-Windmaster is Genderfluid Bisexual culture people!
- “Thoroughly~” Yep that just slayed me I’m down
-Yeah Qingxuan’s cultivation backstory is gonna age like curdled milk in Book 4
-Man I just love all of Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan’s interactions with each other!
-Xie Lian, honey, you are way too good to be a tumor, trust me
-I love how Qingxuan also defended Ban Yue from Pei Ming
-“You were my kind of crazy” I love how Shi Qingxuan and Xie Lian instantly became besties
-Dude, Qingxuan puts the “fun” in function in both forms!
-This is exactly the reason I made my Thunder master OC Leishi female too.
-Now I gotta draw Xie Lian’s female form
-Yeah I react the same when letting a small amount of alcohol in my system
-The witching hour
-To quote a well known assassin Yor Forger, “No way I’m doing this sober”
-That one wrinkled ghost did not age gracefully
-Yeah their burial grounds are in Taiwan, awesome island I definitely need to visit
- Why did they have to design every Heavenly Official to be so Attractive???
-It’s the Spirit World from Spirited Away
-Ghost City would seem like a more modern area than the Spirit World in the Last Airbender
-The heck’s this confetti
-Ooh I like the green dressed spirit with the dark bamboo hat
-Hi Jian Lan
Literally any of my young adults would react to a promiscuous person with just one word in annoyance, “Prostitutes…”
-Honey Xie Lian is already outta your league, try finding someone else that’s your type
-Yeah you didn’t have to tell everyone about your medical condition, heck I don’t even want to picture the Gaang’s reaction after hearing it
-Ghost City is the Las Vegas of Ancient China
-Bouncers
-I love the female NPC that greeted Xie Lian she has a great voice and design
-Oh I know who that is
-He clutched his heart!
-“No thanks~” *Instantly fans myself*
-The camera pan to this throne!!! He is gay and he means business!!!
-James Cheek has ate it up!!!
-The soft “San Lang”
That was an awesome start to the Second Season. Sorry if I haven’t been posting I’m four weeks into my quarter and I also got back into writing fanfic, like the first chap of The scrap immortal and the Avatar. I’ll still do every reaction to Season 2 on weekends!

[CN] Shaw's Field Date (Part 2)
⚡Warning: This post contains detailed spoiler's for a Date which hasn't released in EN yet!⚡
Tumblr media
✧[Section 3]✧
Tumblr media
Or maybe he just fooled me again.
This guy Shaw not only refuses to admit that he is jealous, but also tries to block my mouth with delicious food and "beauty"...
The next day, he was busy until midnight with the archaeology team, so I didn't have a chance to continue to observe him…
MC: - So, what has he been struggling with these past two days?!
Early this morning, Shaw disappeared again, and I had no choice but to sit up in bed. Annoyed, I picked up a pillow and "hit" the empty space next to me.
Shaw: Why are you hitting the bed frame? Did I do something to annoy you? MC: ……!
I was startled and turned my head, only to find Shaw standing at the door, looking at me with a curious expression on his face.
MC: You you you... why are you dressed like this?!
Shaw had changed out of his work overall today and was now wearing a brand new Miao ethnic costume.
The shiny silver accessories were adhered to his open neckline, and the intricate embroidery depicted smooth muscle lines.
Not only did he tie the iconic Miao headscarf on his head, but he also had a shiny silver Miao knife strapped to his back.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Isn't this to celebrate Qixi with you? Like you said, in Miao territory, it's only natural to go with an ethnic touch.
He raised an eyebrow without confirming or denying, then tossed a cloth bundle he had in his hand to me.
Shaw: I got a set for you too, try it. MC: We...are going to go to the set dressed like this? Shaw: Can't we? MC: ... It's not impossible.
Looking at his expression in this moment, I seemed to have caught a glimpse of the source of his displeasure these past two days.
Just like a little panda that had rolled around in the mud but then cleaned up its fur, ready to fight again with a satisfied look.
Amusement bubbled up from my heart and spread across my face as I opened the package and deliberately elongated my tone.
MC [playfully]: Mmm~ you're right. After filming for several days, I haven't even worn Miao ethnic clothing myself. I heard that the jewelry is quite troublesome to put on…
I hold the silver necklace in front of me and wink at him.
MC [playfully]: Shaw, can you help me?
Shaw tugged at the corner of his mouth, not revealing my little trick.
He leaned down and took the necklace from my hand.
Tumblr media
Shaw [plays along with her]: It's indeed quite troublesome. I suggest you send a message to your colleagues, letting them know you'll be an hour late.
Tumblr media
Luckily, by the time we finish fumbling with everything and arrive on set, the Qixi Festival shoot has just begun.
I shyly greeted the director and the crew before coming to the monitor with Shaw.
In the frame, men and women were dancing gracefully amidst fluttering petals, and the brilliant colors were almost blinding to the eyes.
The bright silver ornaments shimmer in the sun, and every time they dance, they will make a sweet sound.
I lightly bumped Shaw's shoulder.
MC: Care to give a comment? Shaw: I don't know how to dance, so I don't have anything to comment on, but… MC: But what?
Tumblr media
Shaw: It seems like the costumes of two models are worn incorrectly. In Miao ethnic attire, the left lapel should be buttoned over the right. Shaw: And also, that couple in the corner, why is one wearing the style of Nan Dan while the other is in Hai Nan attire? Even though they're both Miao, their costumes don't match, do they?
[T/N]: Miao is an ethnic minority within China, they have many subgroups within the tribe itself, so their clothing style differs from place to place. The pair in the scenario, though they both belong to Miao tribe, one of them is wearing clothing style from the Nandan area of Guangxi, while the other is wearing Hainan (island) clothing style.
With Shaw's reminder, I finally noticed that the costumes of several models at the edge were indeed incorrect. I quickly pressed the intercom and called for a pause.
MC: It's a good thing we have you as a folklore expert. Otherwise, if someone notices the issues after broadcasting, our show would lose face. Shaw: Don't exaggerate my role. I just happened to grasp at straws on this archaeological dig. Shaw: We're also indebted to the old man being a key teacher in the Folklore Association. Otherwise, it would have been difficult for me to organize the preliminary information.
His tone was casual, but I knew that if he really wanted to delve into it, he wouldn't just lightly touch the surface.
With gratitude in my heart, I blurted out.
MC: It's been a hard time, right?
Tumblr media
Shaw: Not bad, but digging soil is tiring every time. Shaw: Especially this time, we found the official seal of the Provincial Government Office and records of communication with the Miao King inside the main coffin. It successfully bridged the historical gap. Shaw: So it's worth the effort.
He spoke calmly, his eyes and brows lifted, as if whatever he put into something he enjoyed was willingly given.
We just watched the video on the monitor and chatted casually about what he found during the excavation.
Under his guidance, the original concept of the show suddenly gained a historical framework. I then adorned it with a more splendid modern perspective.
The scenes in the frame also became more profound and enchanting, radiating the colors of the ethnic culture.
The recording of the program was coming to an end, and I stretched out in a relaxed way.
MC: Phew~ you've been a big help this time. I feel that after the broadcast, everyone will surely fall in love with Miao ethnic culture! Shaw: I helped you modify so many program details, and you only give me verbal praise? MC: Then what do you want in return, just say it. Shaw: Of course, I want…
Before Shaw finished speaking, suddenly a staff member came to him in a hurry and patted him on the shoulder.
Staff member: Hello why are you still sitting here? Staff member: Stop interfering with the producer's work. Come with me. We're about to shoot the final cast shot. Shaw: ? ? ?
Shaw was confused by this overwhelming order, he took a look at his clothes, and then suddenly realized.
In an instant, his face went from red to green and then turned black, completing a full cycle. Then, he opened his mouth with a forced smile.
Tumblr media
Shaw: I'm sorry, my friend. Shaw: I'm not a male model, I'm your producer's boyfriend. MC: HAHAHAHA!!
Amidst my uproarious laughter, the staff awkwardly left. Shaw ground his teeth, turned his head, and then launched an attack on me.
Tumblr media
Shaw: How dare you smile so happily? MC: I-I'm sorry, I was trying to help you break the tension, but the male model is just hahaha … uh oh!
He grabbed my cheek, his half-squinted eyes suddenly coming close.
Shaw: Originally, I just wanted you to treat me to a meal, but now I don't want to let you go so easily. Shaw: Don't go to your class, from now on, you're kidnapped by me.
Without any further explanation, he pulled me and ran towards the set.
MC: ….!Where are you taking me??
Tumblr media
Shaw: Just come with me, no nonsense.
Tumblr media
Through the steel frames and dark arms, through the artificially scattered flowers, we headed towards the distant shade of green bamboo.
We did not choose the main road where pedestrians and vehicles line up, but walked towards the deserted path where no human habitation can be seen.
Tumblr media
The rustling bamboo leaves brushed against our hair, and the clear sound of silver bells echoed in response.
Behind us, the sound system at the set played love songs softly, drifting through the clear sky.
"-Speaking of love leads to longing, speaking of intention leads to connection; When you gain the consent of your beloved, you won't think of change; When you receive the holy water, you won't let it go…"
"We are like a couple from the modern world who have crossed back to ancient Miao territory, doing the same things as countless couples of this land have done for thousands of years."
The dense vegetation and steep slope blocked our way, and Shaw drew his Miao knife, splitting through the tangled branches and leaping down first.
He sheathed the knife on his back, used his body to press down the obstructing slanting bamboo, and turned his head to look at me.
Shards of gold and bright silver shimmered, a sidelong glance carrying a smile full of meaning.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Do you need my help? MC: Humph, I can jump by myself!
I pushed aside the low bushes and leaped down, while at the same time, Shaw extended his arms, allowing me to land perfectly in his embrace.
The scent of mint and bamboo leaves wafted in the sunlight, mingling with each other's breath.
I wrapped my arms around Shaw's waist and lightly tapped the tip of his nose
MC: This was you taking the initiative to embrace, not me, you know. Shaw: Mmm, yeah, you're right. After all, if I'm going to abduct someone, I might as well get the whole package.
Tumblr media
✧[Section 4]✧
Tumblr media
After leaving the bamboo grove and walking to the end of the hill, a medium-sized Miao tribe appeared before us.
Layers of exquisite bamboo houses were adorned with bright red lanterns, celebrating the festival. The scent of cooking wafted through the buildings, creating a lively atmosphere.
MC: Wow! Isn't this Tongxin Village? We actually managed to make it here!
Tumblr media
Shaw: You have been here before?
Shaw looked at me with some surprise, and I nodded.
MC: Right, because this Miao tribe is well-preserved and not visited by many tourists, so our initial filming location was here. MC: We interviewed the elderly people here in the first episode, visited the ancestral hall, and even went to their dyeing workshop… MC: What about you, were you also here to collect folklore materials? Shaw: …I'm not that dedicated, but I found this place when I was wandering around because the lunch box of the archaeological team was really awful.
When Shaw spoke, he wrinkled his nose slightly unnaturally, and there was a hint of melancholy in his tone. I couldn't help but blink my eyes.
— Maybe he was planning to surprise me, so he brought me here, right?
But I've already been here, so I wasn't happy about it now?
MC: Pff…
Tumblr media
Shaw: Why are you suddenly laughing foolishly again? MC: It's nothing... I just suddenly felt that classmate Shaw actually has such a cute side! Shaw: ? !
Hearing what I said, Shaw instantly had a ghostly expression on his face, and took a sharp breath.
Tumblr media
Shaw [blushes]: I don't know what kind of medicine you took today, but this kind of teasing doesn't work on me, so I suggest you avoid using it in the future. MC: No problem, then I won't compliment you as cute in the future~ Shaw: ……
Seeing the expression on Shaw's face, if I continued teasing him, I might be subjected to his "poisonous hands," so I quickly changed the topic.
MC: Cough cough, so are we still going to Tongxin Village? Shaw: Why not? Shaw: Maybe there are things in the village that you haven't noticed before. MC: Is that so? Last time I wandered around the whole village, you know?
Shaw raised the corners of his lips after hearing my provocation, and pulled my hand straight away.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Sure, why not? Since we've both been here before, let's see who can find more interesting things.
Walking into the village, both of us started showing off our findings to each other, as if presenting treasures.
The snacks here are delicious, the garden here is beautiful, the lazy cat with mandarin duck eyes sleeping on the street corner, the big buffalo with strange patterns on its buttocks…
Darn it, I wonder how exactly Shaw wandered around before. He managed to find so many things that the camera crew missed capturing!
Seeing that I was about to lose, I suddenly remembered a family I interviewed before.
Tumblr media
Aunt: Oh, Little MC, why did you come over? MC: Hello, Auntie. My boyfriend is visiting me these days, and I thought of bringing him here to taste your homemade millet wine. Is that okay?
Their wine wasn't sold outside, and no tourists know about it, but it is famous in the nearby villages and towns for its good wine—— Now I can definitely turn the tide!
Auntie handed a full cup of millet wine in front of Shaw. Instead of using his hands to take it, he just drank it all in one go while holding the cup with his mouth.
Aunt: Yo, the young man is bold!
Tumblr media
Shaw: I know the etiquette of toasting with guests.
After drinking the guest-welcoming liquor from the ox horn, I entered the house and together with Shaw, I tried glutinous rice wine, buckwheat wine, and more.
In the end, amidst Aunt's toast song, we also experienced a moment of the Miao ethnic group's "Lovers' Toast".
When we left Aunt's house, I had a triumphant smile on my face, raising my chin confidently.
MC: How about it, isn't my discovery quite significant? MC: Now it's your turn, huh? Don't tell me you're already out of ideas?
Tumblr media
Shaw: How is it possible, there is a beautiful swing at the end of this road, you'll probably like it. MC: Swing? MC: No way. There's a swing in the village, our production team couldn't have missed that, right?
Seeing my doubt, Shaw slyly raised his eyebrows.
Shaw: Who knows, I found it anyway.
As Shaw said, we walked along the road until we reached the edge of the Miao village. Sure enough, beside a small stream, we saw a swing with intertwined flowers and branches quietly hanging on an old tree.
MC: It's so bright.....
Under the influence of intoxication, everything before my eyes seemed to be veiled with a soft, hazy filter.
The fresh flowers are intertwined on the rope, as if they have just been picked, and there are still a few fresh dewdrops on the petals, shining in the sun.
Eagerly, I sat on the swing and patted the space next to me, gesturing to invite Shaw.
MC: —Want to play together?
Tumblr media
Shaw: MC, are you sure? If I sit on it, it will not be a romantic swing, but an exciting swing. MC: I'm going for an exciting swing!
I answered without hesitation, even puffing out my chest.
Tumblr media
Shaw laughed, turned around, and sat down, he stretched out his palm and firmly covered the back of my hand.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Let me help you hold on tight.
In the next second, I was lifted into the air by the swing.
MC: Ah—
The sudden weightlessness made me scream out loud, and then I pressed my lips together in dissatisfaction, making Shaw laugh.
I only dared to tug on the hem of his clothes to protest, but my breathing became tighter and tighter.
The swing is different from the ones I've sat on in the city before. The long ropes allow the swing to sway at a higher angle.
Together, down, up, down…
I closed my eyes tightly, without any protection around my body, the only thing I could rely on was his tightly clenched palm.
In the darkness, the clear sound of the silver jewelry swinging became more distinct.
And what is clearer is Shaw's breathing that is close at hand.
Shaw: Hey, why don't you open your eyes and take a look? The view is amazing. MC: No, no, no! Shaw: ...Coward, wasting my heartfelt efforts.
Shaw said these words quickly and softly, I didn't hear clearly, so I had to tug at the corner of his clothes again.
MC: What are you saying? Speak louder! Shaw: I said….
His breath drew closer, like raindrops, the scent of alcohol, and a kiss, all landing on the edge of my ear.
Shaw [lightly whispers]: Suddenly, I feel that you are also very cute. MC: ……!
The unexpected words made me subconsciously open my eyes, and the swing happened to be at the highest point at the moment—
Fine rain quietly falls, someone in the Miao village starts playing the lusheng, birds in formation fly across the distant green mountains, passing over the hillside where we came from, the bamboo forest…
Everything is captured by the eyes, the heart swells uncontrollably in that moment.
I looked at Shaw in a daze, and he grinned proudly.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Wasn't my discovery the most interesting? I won.
_
Tumblr media
MC: Uh, I asked you why you found me particularly cute at that time? I really care about it, could you explain it to me again?
Tumblr media
Shaw: …… Shaw: Miss MC, you've asked three times already, and I've answered three times as well. The statement about you being cute was just a playful way to get you to open your eyes, to tease you.
On the way back to the Miao Village, I was still reminiscing about Shaw's words, and couldn't help but confirm to him over and over again.
And this guy was so inconsistent, the first time he answered that I was stupid and cute, and the second time he said it was to get back at me for calling him cute…
Hmph, I don't you believe you.
Walking with a light and cheerful step, we turned a corner and happened to encounter the winemaking old lady and her son.
Aunt: MC, are you also going to the bonfire party? MC: That's right. At the evening party, I was planning to enjoy your wine!
While I was chatting with the aunt, her son also came to Shaw.
Youth: Boss Shaw, are you satisfied with that swing? MC: ……? Youth: Your order was quite urgent, you said you wanted it sturdy and beautiful, so we rushed to buy a lot of flowers to wrap around it yesterday!
Shaw coughed in embarrassment and waved his hands again and again.
Tumblr media
Shaw: Well, I'm very satisfied... You've worked hard. Youth: Haha it’s not hard, you know your girlfriend is my mother’s friend, we should make the swing more luxurious!
When aunt and the young man left with smiles, I poked fiercely at Shaw's chest in annoyance.
MC: Shaw! You cheated! MC: No wonder I was wondering why there wasn't a swing here before, and suddenly one popped up. So, it was you who hurriedly came here to set it up yesterday! You, ugh…!
All my backlash was blocked by a kiss from him.
What kind of a man is he who cheats and gags when he has a guilty conscience!
I had originally intended to silently criticize like this, but the afterglow of the setting sun fell upon the vibrant lanterns and his bright eyes, creating such a splendid sight that I lost my determination and only wanted to indulge further.
Shaw pressed against the tip of my nose, his smile was full of evil intentions.
Tumblr media
Shaw: That counts as a tie for today. If you want to compete in something else, I have plenty of time in the evening.

Request!!: I would sell my soup to Satan for you to write a Xiao x reader fanfiction where Xiao is clumsily trying to figure out "modern mortal courting" cause (at least in my hc anyway) he's vaugely aware of really old courting traditions but is trying to learn new ones for his s/o.
Notes: Anon when I tell you I laughed so hard from reading the first line, I mean it. I’m guessing you meant to type “soul” and it didn’t quite work out for you, but regardless it was a good laugh. I did my best with researching dating culture in older China compared to now, but if there’s anything incorrect that you guys catch, please let me know as I am not Chinese or Asian in any capacity!
Warnings: I don’t think there are any here? As always, if you think I should have posted a warning for anything in my works, please let me know and I can correct it!
Characters: Xiao, GN!Reader, Reader’s parents(only mentioned)
To say that Xiao was a bit out of touch with human culture is an understatement
He has no clue how to go about starting a relationship in the ways people do it nowadays
He’s more familiar with the traditional way of doing things, although he’s never wanted to partake.
He’s used to arranged marriages, no dating required, and those are always set up by the parents rather than the parties actually involved, so when you approach him and ask him if he’d like to go on a date with you, he’s at a loss.
Poor guy is so clueless, he’s stiff as a board on your first date and he didn’t do great as a conversation partner.
He was surprised when you wanted to go on a second date.
To be completely honest, he was surprised you wanted to go out with him in general. He sees himself as nothing more than a weapon at Morax’s expense, so the thought of you liking him as a person?? Unheard of.
He’s a bit apprehensive at the thought of a second date, worried that you’ll be tainted by his karma if you got too close, but he decides to just let it be.
He eases into it eventually, but please be patient with him, he has no idea how this works.
“I’m sorry, could you repeat that?”
“Won’t your parents be upset that you’re going against their wishes?”
If it had been anyone else, you’d expect them to burst out laughing and claim they were just messing with you, but Xiao looks dead serious as he stares at you from across the table.
Confused, you put your spoon back down on the wooden tabletop. “Against what wishes?”
Xiao frowns. “Did your parents not arrange a marriage for you?”
“Arrange a what?”
“Is… that not the practice anymore?”
Xiao sounds so utterly clueless when he asks you this question, watching you with wide eyes that sparkled with curiosity and self-consciousness.
“For some families, probably,” you answer, waving your hand. “But not mine. I’m as free as a bird!”
You grin at him, and return to your food as Xiao falls into a thoughtful silence.
In all honesty, Xiao is relieved to hear that your parents aren’t upset with your decision.
He ends up approaching Yanfei and Ganyu to ask how to arrange dates, and while Ganyu isn’t able to help much, Yanfei is able to direct him to someone who CAN help.
It takes a while, but he slowly eases into the modern practices, although he’s still learning, so please go easy on him and give him feedback. He just wants to impress you and make you happy.

what has been happening in the world of motorsports?
there is a massive list under the cut, so although i already deleted a lot of it which was not that relevant or important, open on your own risk (key topic of each is in bold)
Guenther Steiner became the official F1 Ambassador of Miami GP this year
Silverstone GP announced their line up for the music show during the race weekend (truthfully i only heard about Olly Murs), Miami GP did the same btw with Ed Sheeran headlining the show (or at least being the only one I know)
Williams repaired the chassis (that can add up to 7 kgs) and managed to fit on Logan's car being only 100 grams heavier. They don’t expect to have a new chassis ready till Miami.
Alpine and RB are other two teams confirmed not to have spare chassis (Bruno Famin said it during the team principals’ press conference and Mekies said they need to see if Daniel is doing bad or if there is something wrong with the car, so they will wait till China for a new chassis and give it to Daniel first).
the problem that Max experienced in Australia was not directly related to BREMS brake system aka the same brand that already started an investigation to Charles' brake issue in Bahrain, our comm the gossiper he is, said that this one is on the Red Bull crew and the way they assembled the right rear brake duct
There have been some rumours coming from New Zealand media that Daniel Ricciardo has been given an ultimatum to start performing in next two races otherwise he could get replaced by Liam Lawson, looks like that was either started by a source close to Liam to put pressure on Daniel or it has been an incorrect translation/misinterpretation of what Helmut Marko said
Marko confirmed that Ayumu Iwasa will be replacing Daniel in FP1 in Japan (Ayumu is a Japanese driver in Red Bull junior academy who drove in F2 last year and changed over to Super Formula this year), Yuki also hinted at this in the post race interview in Australia but then stopped himself, saying he is not allowed to share that yet
But concerning Daniel, while Marko demented the quote about two races left to prove himself, he didn't rule out the possibility of Daniel being replaced mid-season
Honda opened up a new base for their engines in the UK
Toto Wolff told Fox News Australia more details of how Lewis announced his move to Ferrari to him over a coffee and how he warned Lewis to look closely at Mercedes rear wing because that's a perspective he will have starting with the new season
David Sanchez hired for McLaren at the end of last season from Ferrari has been fired (or “leaves the team after mutual agreement from both sides about his misalignment”). They didn't agree on his job position, so he leaves after 3 months. Emanuele Pirro also left McLaren from the role of head of McLaren’s junior academy (there was no apparent reason for this stated, like in David’s case) after one year only.
It seems like Charles will be opening an ice cream parlour LEC in Milan. Press con / grand opening is supposed to be around 10th/11th April, so that’s when we will learn more pieces of information, probably. So far we know it will be with Federico Grom and Guido Martinetti, who founded an ice cream shop chain in Italy.
Max’s chief mechanic Lee Stephenson will be working for Sauber from now on as he ended his journey with Red Bull after Australia.
Toto Wolff spoke again about the replacement of Lewis in Mercedes in 2025 and mentioned he wants to get it sorted around the summer and reminded that Max is on his shortlist. There are rumours about most of Mercedes employees being interested in getting Max in the team and into the ambassador role for them. Also, a side note: Toto originally wasn’t meant to be at this GP but changed plans last minute for unknown reasons.
Liberty Media bought MotoGP commercial rights (for a similar amount as they did with F1: 4,2 billion Euro). The championship is in a similar position where F1 was, and they want to try to put more spotlight on it and bring the fans like they did with F1.
Honda is opening a new engine factory in the UK in preparation for the Aston Martin partnership starting with 2026.
A Japanese billionaire built a private circuit for 180 mil Euro, and it was Herman Tilke’s team who designed it (it is only available for teams of prestigious Magarigawa club).
There was a rumour in the media a few days ago that Aston Martin approached Adrian Newey with a huge financial offer in Jeddah and are just waiting for the answer, however Mike Krack said to media in Suzuka that is not the case and they are happy with their team so they didn’t even need to make any offers in the first place. (Although the rumour has been reported by pretty reliable sources that said it was Lawrence Stroll himself who approached him.)
There was a slight change in the rules concerning tyres for this year and that caused the lack of running in FP2. There was a rule that if Friday sessions are declared as wet, the teams have a selection of 5 intermediate tyre sets and 2 wet ones. However, there used to be a rule of additional intermediate set of tyres being available for Friday if it rained, which would then have to be given back to Pirelli, but that rule isn’t applied this year. This is why teams decided to save tyres for Sunday, in case they are needed (and they will be according to some weather predictions).
Australian GP saw the most fans over the weekend in their history, the official numbers state 452 thousand of fans.
in Australia: Checo had a tear off stuck in his car, Lewis’ issue was reliability concern and the damage to the engine was terminal so he had to take a new one, Fernando was handed an after race 20s penalty for the incident with George, Este was another one with a tear off issue
After Ben Sulayem was cleared of the allegations of trying to mess up with the race results or the accreditation of individual circuits, he came out to say they are despicable moves against him, just trying to discredit him. In support, the US group of FIA club members wrote an open letter than they stand behind him, that he has their support in the decisions and also that they suggest to take legal action against people who were the ones to complain to the ethic committee.
Seb has been vocal over the last days to promote a new drink Perple (but he spoke about a lot of current f1 topics). Speaking of potential comeback, Porsche apparently postponed the announcement of their Le Mans lineup (was meant to be on 28th March) and he named the car he tested with, so there is a high possibility of him driving. He covered 118 laps, and I didn’t find any times comparison but there is a report that they were impressive.
FIA Prize Giving for 2024 will be held in Kigali in Rwanda on 13th December this season – first time ever for this country.
Pierre started a new line of his own merch with his own face on it from karting days and there has been quite some talk about that move copying Lewis’ significant merch (I like to shit on Pierre but personal opinion: this is really NOT that deep and Lewis doesn’t actually have a trademark for this kind of merch). Yuki is releasing new line too and there is a lot of blue color which I appreciate. Guyanu made a partnership line with Lululemon. Lewis was a face of latest issue of GQ and ate that photoshoot.
Valtteri mentioned he is in talks with Audi for a contract beyond this season and more importantly he spoke about the pit stop issues and warned fans they will struggle with this issue for a while still, because they need both time and funds to fix it so expect multiple other races like this.
BBC spoke to close victim of Horner case. She can't speak about it during the investigation, is angry and scared and feels silenced. Multiple sources approached her to see if she would like to sell her story and make money on it, but she refused because she doesn’t want fame, just justice. She will also go to the employment tribunal.
Kimi Antonelli will be testing W12 on 16th April (and later test W13 to get a feeling of the "good" car first).
Daily Mail reports Mercedes will be partnering with Adidas (instead of Puma and Tommy Hilfiger) to design their merch and race wear.
F1 now has a multiyear partnership with Playseat to provide official racing simulators
Charles made a new road safety campaign
It’s Oscar’s birthday today!
The Las Vegas GP report showed its economic influence etc. but also weak spots like infrastructure
Logan Sargeant’s docu named Racing the Odds came out on ESPN
Teams are being restricted from how much behind-the-scenes content they can show and it’s all related to Liberty Media and Drive to Survive, because Netflix wants a monopole over the exclusive content.
I saw a lot of talk after Australia about team orders with the main point about McLaren’s ones that they ordered Lando to be let in front, because he was on fresher tyres and could catch up with Charles. McLaren’s TP Andrea Stella came out and said it is not the case and they wanted to avoid the drivers crashing into each other and losing the valuable double points and podium
Lando Norris was on Chicken Shop Date. I don’t understand the significance of it but a lot of news sites I like to check reported it, so I figured out it may be a big deal in the world of people who have social media outside of Tumblr?
We have a few returning faces: Masi was in the Australian GP paddock and Binotto is rumored to visit the paddock for Japanese GP and Felipe Massa was at an FE race while suing F1 which seems a bit strange.

tbh, the whole ~~its easy to be kind when youre rich!!!!~~ take makes me feel like some people watched parasite and didnt really understand what it was saying when one of the characters said that same thing about the family they were working for (and idk, maybe theyve never seen that movie and arent thinking about it, but its what immediately comes to my mind when people say that phrase). The rich family wasnt actually nice!! they just didnt place the same emotional weight on certain things because they had so much of them, and therefore thought less about them, etc. But that wasnt supposed to be a line meaning that all rich people are nice because they dont have to worry about surviving, which is how some people seem to feel about class and which drives me nuts!!! its such a lukewarm, incorrect take imo!
(I’ve never seen Parasite, don’t judge 🫣) but I think you’re right, anon, people do mistake niceness for kindness and genuineness. Rich people irl doing things to launder their money and reputations in the eyes of the public is not a sincere display of generosity meant to materially change the conditions of the lower classes. Also, being a celebrity =\= being a hero. On the flip side, if poverty was a condition that made humans more inclined to forsake their morals and hospitality, the human race would have died out a long time ago. You have no further to look for examples of this than when disaster strikes in the world or extreme human rights abuses occur. “Poor people have less opportunities to be heroes,” say that to the people who dive into rip tides to save drowning swimmers or the people digging through the rubble of destroyed buildings to pull out survivors or the people jumping onto subway tracks to save strangers who’ve fallen in. Say that to people who open their homes to hide whole groups of people against state persecution, whether in secret or in plain view of the world. Say that to the history of colonial resistance (of which China has centuries of examples) or slave rebellions. Where were the rich people and their “privilege of kindness” then?
Now let’s put this in context of tgcf. Which institutionally powerful characters, who are not Xie Lian, use their status, money, and power to materially change the conditions of the common people? Xie Lian was out there carrying rain from different parts of the world to relieve Yong’an’s drought while he fought with his father, THE EMPEROR, to provide aid for the refugees. Xie Lian, alone, talked to the refugees about what was happening and walked amongst the people to see what they were suffering through. The only god who helps him is The Rain Master; everyone else focuses on stealing his worshipers behind his back or telling him that human life is not valuable enough to want to save from suffering.
Most of the martial gods ascend from war or prowess, and many of these achievements are covered in blood such that revealing them could (and does for some!) strip them of their godhood. I can’t say much about how the civil gods ascend, though in Ling Wen’s case it also seems based on skill and not so much how they actively help the people. Feng Xin and Mu Qing are the only characters I can think of who don’t follow this pattern, but even they are willing to forsake the common people and lower castes if it means staying within the status quo (all the moments they try to persuade Xie Lian against fighting the Xianle nobility on behalf of the Yong’an refugees or how they try to persecute the ghosts as easy solutions to the story’s mysteries without looking into the abnormalities of each case because “gods can’t be bad so it must be the ghosts!”). And again, the climax of the story has the capital city saved from utter destruction by the power of the community and camaraderie amongst the city’s homeless population (whereas the heavens are saved by the power of unconditional love and Hua Cheng’s complete faith in Xie Lian), all at the cost of… sharing a meal together at the end of the day.
Real life doesn’t adhere to the logic that goodness is a class privilege, and this book doesn’t reproduce that logic either. So once again people are using their biases to interpret messages in the text that simply do not exist.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋節快樂 🌕🥮🐰
In a promotion for the Autumn Gala today, Dd said for the BGM (background music) for the festival, he thinks of the song 但願人長久. And so, I thought, I should post this song so that it can everyone’s BGM this evening — and look! I found the perfect video for it too 😊.
(Under the cut: a little more about the song...)
While the tune of the song isn’t old — it was first published in 1983 and sung by the Taiwanese singer 鄧麗君 Teresa Teng — the lyrics is based on a poetry written more than a millennia ago, by the famous poet 蘇軾 Su Shi. Su wrote the poem on Mid Autumn of 1076 AD, while he was, by self-admission, very drunk and sorely missing his brother, who he hadn’t seen for seven years. References from ancient texts suggest that the poem was made into popular songs soon after it was written, and has been sung over the centuries until today. The last two lines 但願人長久,千里共嬋娟, in particular, are often quoted as a blessing, a well-wish.
The following translation of the lyrics is by the contemporary writer, linguist and translator, 林語堂 Lin Yutang:
How rare the moon, so round and clear! With cup in hand, I ask of the blue sky, "I do not know in the celestial sphere What name this festive night goes by?" I want to fly home, riding the air, But fear the ethereal cold up there, The jade and crystal mansions are so high! Dancing to my shadow, I feel no longer the mortal tie. She rounds the vermilion tower, Stoops to silk-pad doors, Shines on those who sleepless lie. Why does she, bearing us no grudge, Shine upon our parting, reunion deny? But rare is perfect happiness-- The moon does wax, the moon does wane, And so men meet and say goodbye. I only pray our life be long, And our souls together heavenward fly!
The song in Dd’s video above was sung by Teresa Teng — who, despite being Taiwanese, was very popular in Mainland China during the 1980s and 1990s. Loved for her gentle, sweet voice, one could say she was the first pop superstar in Post-Revolution China. How popular was she? At the time, there was a saying that went: 白天聽老鄧,晚間聽小鄧 Listen to Old Deng at Daytime, Listen to Little Deng at Nighttime. “Old Deng” referred to Deng Xiaoping, the supreme leader of the country at the time, while Little Deng was Teresa, who shared a surname with the leader — the difference in English spelling was due to the different romanization systems used in China and Taiwan.
Oh, by the way, Teng was ... not exactly censored, but not exactly loved by the Chinese government, either.
She was a target of heavy criticisms by the state until 1985. Her love songs  failed to adhere to ... core socialist values, and so it said, and Teng herself was politically incorrect by being loyal to the Taiwanese government. But the people in China couldn’t help themselves — they listened to these “yellow”, ie, pornographic songs in secret at first, and then, they bought cassette tapes of the songs elsewhere in the Sinosphere (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia etc), and exchanged the tapes among themselves. They even tuned in the radios of the elsewheres to listen to Teng’s voice ...
youtube
Teresa, singing another favourite song about the moon — 月亮代表我的心 The moon represents my heart. While she wasn’t the original singer of the song, her cover in 1977 made the song famous. This song is now a classic love song: Leslie Cheung famously sang it to make public his relationship with Daffy Tong in 1997, making him the first Chinese superstar to come out.
Tang passed away in 1995 from an asthma attack; that was the only time CCTV (the State TV Station) devoted air time for her — even though she had been so dear to so many in the country. However, since 1985, the Chinese government hadn’t put in any more effort to bar the distribution of her works. It also hadn’t put a lid on the people’s continued adoration for her. Record companies could sell her music; her songs circulated and remain sung and played today. People still look for and talk about the next Teresa Teng’s. Shows make holograms of Teresa singing with contemporary singers — their audience miss her that much.
(Here is a video of 周深 Zhou Shen singing with hologram Teresa, from NYE 2021-2022).
Anyway, I’ve digressed again, haven’t I? With Dd being so young, Teresa is a bit ahead of his time. For the BGM of Mid-Autumn Festival and the song 但願人長久, he‘s more likely, I’d imagine, to be thinking about the cover by 王菲 Faye Wong, which was still published ahead of his birth, in 1995. I shall end this post with Faye singing the song here, as her rendition is equally beautiful and some say, better captures the lonely sadness of Su Shi’s original poem than Teng’s original:
youtube
I wish there’s no lonely sadness tonight though. 花好月圓 Flowers Bloom and the Moon is Round — that’s Gg’s wish for everyone today. Round implies full, complete; and when loved ones who are usually scattered manage to meet and spend time with each other, it’s called 團圓, literally meaning, roughly, gathered together in a circle. There’s a related well-wish to 花好月圓, 人月兩圓, which means the people (人) and the moon (月) are both (兩) round (圓), full, complete, together. I wish the same for everyone on this Mid-Autumn Festival too.

Resolution on Protracted Peoples War
Tumblr media
Introduction
Following a period of two-line struggle among the RMC – Chicago on the subject of Protracted People’s War – wherein we discussed various writings from individuals and organizations such as Mao Zedong, Tjen Folket, Jose Maria Sison, Mass Proletariat, the (new) Italian Communist Party, J. Moufawad Paul, Anti-Imperialist Action Ireland, RCP-PRC and more – we have come to the following conclusions on Protracted People’s War.
What Protracted People’s War Is Not
Protracted People’s War is not necessarily the encirclement of the urban centers from the rural periphery. Yes, this is how Mao theorized it so many decades ago within the Chinese context. Yes, this is how it is practiced in the semi-feudal, colonial/semi-colonial world. But Maoism in general is not simply the word of Mao, and all universal theories require thorough examination of both the universal and particular aspects.      For example, we know that the theory of the vanguard party is a universal theory. This has been proven through practice time and time again since the Bolsheviks seized power. However, we do not seek to recreate the exact structure of the Bolshevik Party. We do not necessarily seek to split from an opportunistic sect with which we once had a larger party structure with (i.e. the Mensheviks within the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party); we do not seek to have the exact same leadership bodies with the exact same officer roles; we do not seek to have the same length of a candidacy program; we do not seek to have the same educational course; we do not seek the exact path of development; we do not seek the exact same political line of the Bolsheviks. These are all particular aspects that manifested within the universal need for a vanguard party armed with the highest development of revolutionary ideology (then Marxism, today Marxism-Leninism-Maoism).      We know that two-line struggle is a universal part of revolutionary Party building, but we do not seek to have the exact debates that occurred between Lenin and Trotsky in the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party; between Stalin and Bukharin in the Communist Party of the Soviet Union; between Mao and Deng in the Communist Party of China. These, too, were particular manifestations of a universal theory wherein the proletarian line must struggle with the bourgeois line.      So, too, we know (or rather, we should!) that Protracted People’s War is a universal theory of revolutionary military struggle, but that revolutionaries in the imperial core do not seek to wage war from the countryside which eventually surrounds and attacks the urban centers as was done in China and Vietnam. Again, those were particular aspects which manifested during specific instances of the employment of a universally applicable theory.      Yes, Mao explained the process of surrounding the cities by way of the countryside during his initial elucidation of the protracted war. But so, too, did Marx explain the particular manifestations of 19th century capitalism when making his initial critiques of political economy; and so again did Lenin explain the particular issues and path of development of the Bolshevik party when making clear the universal need for a proletarian vanguard party. Are either of these theories any less universal?
We do, however, disagree with those Maoist theorists who seem to somewhat erroneously define any revolutionary or protracted military campaigns as Protracted People’s Wars. In our study we have found that many Maoists point to prolonged military struggles against stronger miltiary powers as PPW regardless of their political or ideological stand in what seems to be an attempt to draw as many examples as PPW as possible. We believe that this is not only unnecessary, but incorrect.      Many of these comrades uphold that the revolutionary struggle led by the Irish Republican Army against the British colonialists during the Troubles was a form of urban Protracted People’s War. While of course we support the revolutionary armed action taken up by the Irish people, continue to support the revolutionary Irish Republican and Socialist Republican Maoist forces of Ireland, and believe that there are many lessons to be drawn from the Irish experience regarding waging armed struggle in an urbanized capitalist country, we do not believe that this was a Protracted People’s War nor do we find this argument to be at all beneficial. Neither do the Socialist Republican Maoists view the Irish guerilla struggle in this light. In fact, many of the Socialist Republicans of old who pushed for transforming the Irish guerilla struggle into a Protracted People’s War were attacked politically, some even killed, by their fellow Republicans and the colonizers over this very issue. That being said, we agree with the analysis of groups like Anti-Imperialist Action Ireland who hold the position that the experiences of the Irish armed struggle give us many insights into how a Protracted People’s War would be waged in an urban capitalist country     Others bizarrely posit that struggles waged by right-wing religious fundamentalists in places like Afghanistan could be considered a form of Protracted People’s War without the political content of a Maoist Protracted People’s War. While, again, the Afghan experience shows that it is possible to wage armed struggle against a militarily superior foe, we do not see how or why one would assign the title of Protracted People’s War to a struggle which is so openly reactionary. In our analysis, the politic of Communism in its highest form – which is of course Marxism-Leninism-Maoism today – is an essential characteristic of the Protracted People’s War, and any struggle which does not have this aspect present cannot be considered to be any kind of people’s war.
What Protracted People’s War Is
This question gets far too obfuscated far too often, so we are going to attempt to answer it in as simple of a manner as possible. It should be noted here that we are laying out the universal characteristics of Protracted People’s War as we have come to understand it. The particular aspects and tactics involved a) cannot be elucidated at present because we have yet to come to a comprehensive enough understanding of the american conditions throughout the entire country, which can only be grasped after extensive social investigation and class analysis, and political practice; and b) even if they could be elucidated, it would be a gross security risk to divulge such details publicly to be seen by our class enemies.
The universal characteristics of Protracted People’s War are as follows:
A militarized Communist Party, armed with the revolutionary ideology of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, at the helm of both a United Front and a People’s Army.
Deep connections with the masses so as to “swim among [them] like fish” and to serve them in such a way to draw them into the militarized Communist Party’s orbit.
Centralization of strategy and decentralization of tactics.
First attacking dispersed and vulnerable enemy forces and then attacking more important and concentrated forces.
The core of Protracted People’s War: passing through the three strategic stages which are a) the consolidation of forces and the strategic defensive; b) the strategic equilibrium; and c) the strategic offensive.
The creation of base areas where dual power has been established which will at times have to be abandoned, especially during the strategic defensive stage when we must follow the principle of “the enemy attacks, we retreat; the enemy camps, we harass; the enemy tires, we attack; the enemy retreats, we pursue.” but which may be returned to at later points.
The ability to remain undefeated, only sent back to a previous strategic stage, as long as the Maoist Party and People’s Army remain active and have not succumbed to opportunism/revisionism.
There is no reason that these universal aspects cannot be applied in urbanized imperialist countries.
Defining a “Militarized Communist Party”
Before moving forward, we believe it is necessary to define what we mean by a “militarized communist party”. This is a question of much contention, especially among the anti-PPW universalists.      The Insurrectionists imply that this means that the Communist Party will take on a strict military structure with a top-down form of organization, or that it simply means that the Communist Party must eventually wage revolution, which is a core tenet of Marxism, and is thus a useless term. As communists who embrace the theories of the vanguard Party expounded by Lenin, we uphold the democratic-centralist method of organization and thus we reject the former characterization of the militarized Communist Party. As for the latter characterization, we take the position that merely putting forward the fact that we must eventually wage revolution – especially in the contemporary era when so many revisionist “communist” organizations refuse to engage revolutionary strategy in a meaningful way – is not sufficient. This is precisely where the understanding of a militarized Communist Party becomes necessary.
The militarized Communist Party expresses three important points. Firstly, that once a genuine Communist Party is formed (by “genuine” we mean one that upholds Marxism-Leninism-Maoism as the third and highest stage of Marxism, has successfully immersed itself in the masses, and has a core of cadres which have forged themselves through class struggle via above-ground and clandestine mass organizing), it must immediately begin preparing for the eventual armed conflict with the State. This preparation must be done by means of: drafting a revolutionary strategy as well as arming the masses, forming and training secret mass organizations, community self-defense teams and local militias which shall serve as the embryo of a People’s Army. Secondly, it means that there must be an understanding that each member of the Communist Party must themselves be prepared to be militants in the revolutionary process, even if they are not direct members of the eventual People’s Army. And thirdly, by virtue of these other two points, that the Communist Party must be a clandestine, underground organization from the moment of inception.
There are many organizations in the so-called united states which currently claim to be Communist Parties (Communist Party USA, Party of Communists USA, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Revolutionary Communist Party USA, etc), but none of them match any of the above characteristics, and for these reasons they cannot be expected to wage an actual revolution in this country. A militarized Communist Party is a necessity for working class, national, gender, and sexual liberation of the oppressed masses.
The Issue of Combatting a Superior Military Force
Those communists who stand against the universal application of Protracted People’s War often bring up the issue of combatting a superior military force when the question of PPW arises.      In their arguments, we must pursue an Insurrectionary Strategy wherein we pass through a “protracted legal struggle” (note that their only example of a successful revolution by means of an Insurrectionary Strategy – which was actually, as we shall discuss later, a Protracted People’s War – did not ever go through a period of “protracted legal struggle”) until we eventually will wage quick insurrections in major cities once the masses have come to support us enough. In their words, this is because a prolonged conflict with such a superior military force is impossible to win.      Ironically, the fact that those who eventually choose to directly confront the bourgeois forces will be up against a larger, better trained, and far-better equipped military force is – in our analysis – all the more reason why Protracted People’s War is not only applicable, but necessary in the urbanized imperialist countries.     How do these would-be revolutionaries expect to overpower the largest, best-funded military force in the world in one fell swoop? Protracted People’s War offers us the insight to understand the reality that – no matter how much revolutionary support we’ve garnered so far, no matter how intense the objective conditions of revolution have become – the vanguard Party will not be able to overthrow the current class rule in any manner other than a prolonged one. PPW universalists understand that 1) the revolutionary forces will necessarily go through a long period of being on a strategic defensive wherein they may take up tactical offensives but will remain largely outnumbered and overpowered before they reach the point of being on equal playing field with the bourgeoisie; and 2) acting as if you are on a strategically offensive stand before actually reaching that point is a devastating, fatal mistake.     For all the opportunist drivel of PPW universalists being adventurist and bringing the masses into a struggle which cannot be won, it is actually their own Custeristic tendencies which will lead the people to slaughter and defeat if given the chance.
The Issue of a Uniquely Proletarian Military Strategy
While it may at first glance seem strange that one would declare a single universal strategy for waging revolutionary war, in reality this is something which was foreseen even by Engels. In Conditions and Prospects of a War of the Holy Alliance Against France in 1852, he notes that, “modern warfare is the product of the French Revolution. Its precondition is the social and political emancipation of the bourgeoisie. . .”      Modern warfare, as the warfare born from the “military expression” of the emancipation of the bourgeoisie, is defined by Engels primarily by “the mass character of means of attack” and “the mobility of these means of attack.” The key concepts to take away from this point are that 1) Engels posits that a new form of warfare which was born from the class emancipation of the bourgeosie from the feudal landlord class; that is that the process of class war, in this case first initiated by Napeleon in the French Revolution, gave birth to a new form of warfare which was uniquely bourgeois. And 2) that the defining characteristics of this uniquely bourgeois form of warfare – that is the mass character of the armies and the mobility of these mass armies – are still characteristic of bourgeois armies today despite whatever other features of Napoleonic Warfare which have been rendered obsolete by advances in technology since the 19th century.      Moreover, Engels continues at the end of this section to state, “The emancipation of the proletariat, too, will have its particular military expression, it will give rise to a specific, new method of warfare.” Therefore, we see that the concept of a uniquely proletarian method of warfare – one that can be univerally appplied by the most revolutionary class of modern society – is not so strange afterall. Even if not yet fully theorized at the time, its existence was predicted as early as 1852 by one of the initators of Marxist thought.
Insurrectionary Strategy In Practice
“The theory of Protracted People’s War is juxtaposed with the theory of Insurrection that takes the moment of the 1917 October Revolution in Russia as more significant than the process from 1905-1917.” (http://moufawad-paul.blogspot.com/2012/02/on-protracted-peoples-war-as-universal.html)
The issue with this is that the Russian Revolution was itself a Protracted People’s War which was not yet theorized as such; the insurrection of 1917 was not just an isolated event which fell from the sky. The fine details of this are deserving of their own dedicated essay but we will attempt to summarize here.    The Russian Revolution did not begin and end with the 1917 insurrection. The Bolsheviks were, in fact, engaged in armed struggle as early as 1905. They did not, as is commonly advocated by revisionist opportunists as the correct path for communist parties in the imperialist core, engage in a period of “protracted legal struggle” or at any point engage in work which was based solely in the legal realm of politics. Obviously they had a Communist Party leading a united front (soviet systems) and a People’s Army (Red Army).      Moreover, the Bolsheviks passed through the three strategic phases of defensive, equilibrium and offensive. The experience of 1905 initiated the beginning of the untheorized Protracted People’s War. Contrary to the revisionists’ fatuity often spewed regarding the strategy and tactics of the Bolsheviks, they and the secret organizations led by them were engaged in illegal work and small armed skirmishes with the Russian police and landlords throughout the entire period of 1905 to February 1917. However, they were very much on the defensive in this period and had not built substantial power that was anywhere close to equal or truly threatening the existing ruling-class order. It was precisely the bourgeois democratic revolution of February 1917 that placed them in the strategic equilibrium phase, which was relatively short-lived with the strategic offensive stage beginning with the October Revolution of 1917, which lasted until the conclusion of the Russian Civil War in 1921.
Further, “all attempts to follow the October Road––attempts that failed to grasp the moment of insurrection as only part of a much larger process of PPW––have actually failed.  Every attempted insurrection based on the strategy of Insurrection has been crushed despite all arguments that this strategy is the only viable revolutionary method at the centres of capitalism.  There is no historical precedent aside from the October Revolution which, as I have already argued, was actually a protracted process.” (ibid)
It must be understood that insurrections may become part of the process of Protracted People’s War but the Insurrectionary strategy has proven through practice to not be viable. Revolutionary history and practice has clearly shown that Protracted People’s War is the military strategy of the proletariat and that it is the only path to revolution.
Conclusion
The Revolutionary Maoist Coalition – Chicago therefore upholds the universality of Protracted People’s War, particularly its application to the american context, as defined and justified above.     Without the proper application of Protracted People’s War, we will not be able to achieve class liberation and state power for the working and oppressed people.
Uphold and Apply Protracted People’s War!  Hold High the Bright Red Banner of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!  Down With the Settler Empire! All Power to the People!

Are you seriously even considering what bluecrominace says?? Those tankies are notorious for cherry picking only the things that strengthens *their* views and ignoring all the rest (or their fav thing, saying its *all* western propaganda, and the *only* reliable sources are the ones approved by china and russia, very logical) they dont want the truth, they want to curate and spread their stupid ideology
That's why I was doing my own research, to see if they were actually cherry picking information or telling the truth about the situation. And I found that their claim that the accusations against China were all sourced back to one white supremacist was incorrect. They can say it's all western propaganda or whatever and that the USSR and China never committed genocide but at this point that's kind of a ridiculous claim, it's starting to sound like holocaust denier stuff.
The "west" isn't some great amorphous single entity made of pure evil and scheming, there simply isn't any way for them to fake the mass starvation of Ukrainians via the USSR's policies that were not too unlike Britain's during the Irish potato famine. Their claims would simply fall apart if they did that because Ukrainians would call them out. But Ukrainians AGREE with them. Or their massacre of the Cossacks, or the numerous other mass killings they did. Remember that some of these weren't that long ago, some of the survivors of these incidents are still alive today, and more commonly their children are still alive today. You can't really fake some of these things on that scale. Only Russian and Chinese propaganda says otherwise. As for China, I don't know the full extent of what's happening there, largely because it's kept under wraps, but if you're inclined to believe the local activists of the region and independent human rights groups then they are definitely committing atrocities and covering it up.
The thing about bluecrominace is they say some truth to go with it, like about the Khmer Rouge situation. That is correct history that they said about it, but I wasn't sure if they considered Pol Pot communist or not beforehand because their line of where communism ends is unclear. It seems largely dependant on if a country or leader calls themselves communist more communist economic policy.
They also say easily fact-checked lies though, both about history and about what I say. It's a pretty obvious case of seeing only what they want to see. There's not much sense in debating marxist-leninism with them further because they'll only deny that MLs did any of the things they did once in power. It'll just be a loop of "how can you say MLs are bad?!" "because they did these things" "no they didn't only one Nazi in Wyoming said that they did" "here's other sources, what you said was blatently false" "all western propaganda, MLs did nothing wrong" "You're starting to sound like a Nazi sympathizer with all the denial of anything bad these regimes did" "how dare you say communism and nazism are literally the same thing?!" "Not what I said. Re-read what I said." "how can you say MLs are bad?!"
EDIT: couple things worth adding. After searching online, I found out why bluecrominace claimed that Adrian Zenz was the only source. An opinion post stated so, but their only reason for believing this is because Adrian Zenz was the primary source the US government used. But if you only focus on what the US government says then you're getting an incomplete picture, something I think they agree with in theory but ignored this time around. The article also said that China wasn't committing "genocide" NOT because they were innocent but because China's "gross human rights violations" were technically catagorized as "crimes against humanity" and not "genocide" based on their interpretation of the UN charter. (Which is heavily contested by other groups, like the non-partisan Newlines Institute among others who make the opposite argument based on THEIR interpretation of the UN charter.) It feels like bluecrominace skimmed the first couple paragraphs and came to the incorrect conclusion that Adrian Zenz was the only source and that China was doing nothing wrong.
I also looked into the claim that the US was blocking an investigation of China to avoid "the truth" coming out. This was not the case, there was literally zero evidence. Even pro-China sources didn't claim that. In fact, they said that the US was trying to investigate China too much, and trying to use investigators who weren't "China friendly" as they put it. (Though would it really be an investigation if they went in already believing China was innocent and willing to see only what cherrypicked locations and people China showed them?)

How to Choose the Right Promotional Product
Promotional products. Most organizations get them for possibilities, clients, occasion attendees — they're a reality of corporate life.
Furthermore, they take care of business: Contrasted with different items with regards to the expense per number of impressions, promotional items frequently win. For instance, the Publicizing Specialty Establishment found that the normal expense per-impression for a shirt is 0.005 pennies. An early evening TV promotion? Per impression, it runs 0.019 pennies.
Yet, not all promotional products are made equivalent. Some are hits — and others are misses. How might you guarantee that your next promotional item nails the objective?
What's Your Point? What do you expect to accomplish? How might you disseminate the item? How does the movement for which you're buying promotional products fit into your advertising technique and message? How might you quantify its prosperity?
Without an unmistakable arrangement and a comprehension of how these products coordinate into your showcasing program, you risk squandering a sizable piece of your promoting financial plan.
Furthermore, the dumpster behind your structure isn't a possibility or customer.
Suit the Item to the Individual Who does the promotional item target?
Try not to choose an item you'd like — select something your crowd would need. Guarantee it accommodates your motivation too: You might need to give something else to customers than to possibilities. All things considered, you ought to have an alternate directive for customers than you accomplish for individuals who haven't bought from you.
Try not to Fall prey to a Promo-item Tough situation A few organizations have "signature" promotional items. It would be ideal for they to reconsider. Customers probably as of now have one from a past experience with you. Many possibilities should — in any event, on the off chance that they're ready to go, they will. Something new and different will have a new effect each time.
Center Try not to give a promotional item to everybody you meet — regardless of whether they fit your crowd boundaries. Target cautiously for the greatest effect. For instance, giving a gift to every individual who strolls past your corner at a trade show — regardless of whether its attendees are your interest group — undermines the item's worth.
Give — and Get Guarantee that you have contact data for any individual who gets a promotional item. With current or past customers, you're good to go. However, assuming you're attempting to draw in new possibilities, giving something without receiving something consequently is treating it terribly.
Find Something Valuable Pick something that your crowd will use as frequently as feasible as far as might be feasible. A review showed that promotional item utilize accomplished a 69 percent support in brand revenue and a 84 percent increment in certain brand impression — primarily due to rehashed openness to the company's image however utilizing the item. Check out Import Toys from China.
Likewise, you gain new brand impressions from individuals who see somebody utilize the item — a special reward.
Incorporate a Source of inspiration The item might be usable, designated, and fit your methodology — yet it comes up short in the event that you don't give the customer a method for making a move.
Incorporate your company's contact data: logo, URL, slogan, telephone number, QR code — anything appears to be legit for your drive. Furthermore, with a limited space wherein to work, make the most of each and every line.
Quality Matters Promotional items have an enduring brand effect. Giving out modest, pointless products is more awful than don't passing out anything by any means.
Conscientiousness binds to quality, as well. Check each verification that you get from the vender. Is everything clear and simple to peruse? Is the telephone number right? The URL? Are there any incorrect spellings? Send the confirmations through different sets of eyes to be extra sure.

Blog 2- 1/19
After reading and watching the Norakuro manga and anime, it was quickly evident to me that there were contextual reasons behind the topics of these particular stories. The subject matter of war and given that manga gained major traction within the 1920’s, it’s easy to gather that these were produced during the 1930’s when global tensions were high and right before the start of WWll. Initially I couldn’t put together what the two sides represented. Since the perfect english the dogs were speaking were at odds of the broken english the pigs were speaking, I had initially thought this was some weird commentary on America's dominance over Japan, but given that this is a english translation, the dates these came out, and the fact that it just doesn’t make sense for this to be the case, I decided this was much more likely a representation between Japan and China. This seemed more plausible as the Sino-Japanese War would begin in 1937 and the Norakuro manga came out in 1938 during the midst of the war, which depicts the inferior pigs (both in prowess and language) being overcome by the force of the dogs, who will now properly maintain Asia.
Saito’s Atemporality was a big switch from the previous two sources, but nonetheless provided insightful material about anime and manga. I agree with a lot of the points discussed within this paper, such as the use of manpu, action lines, and other representational uses coming together to establish the necessary foundations of manga. I also thought that it was interesting that he mentions atemporality, as I do find that oftentimes, a scene that in reality should take five seconds to accomplish, gets stretched into minutes or sometimes entire episodes as the time between the start and end of the action is riddled with backstory, reflection, or thought that serves to provide more insight into the importance of the moment. This kind of storytelling is definitely rarely, if ever, found in Western media, and I would also assert is unique to Japanese media.
One thing I didn’t agree with was Saito’s point that manga and anime are not as complex as other literary forms as it tends to split a whole consciousness across all the characters. I’m not an expert in manga, nor have I watched hundreds of anime, but I believe that the complexity level referenced by Saito is highly dependent upon the story and subject matter itself, not on the fact it’s a manga. Taking a well known manga, Naruto, I would argue that each character can be defined as their own personality, as opposed to a portion of a complete personality. Obviously supporting characters aren’t as integral to the story and therefore may not be fleshed out, but for characters like Naruto and Sasuke, I believe there lies visible character development, inner turmoil, multiple influences that shape them as a person, much like in real life. They may have a base moral compass, but to attribute a sense of one-dimensionality as Saitio proposes is incorrect. There are also cases in Western literature in which what Saito proposes is true. One example is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Despite having eighteen books, you would be hard-pressed to claim that Greg Heffley or any of the other characters in the book have grown, changed, or even once operate outside of a few defining characteristics.
