"babying" a character is almost always referred to as a bad thing (as it usually represents infantilization as a result of lacking media literacy) but "babying" gabe goodman was the best staging decision ever made
#next to normal#gabe goodman#the entire production was incredible but the way his character was handled with so much care is beautiful#i prefer scared baby boy gabe over shirtless pole dancing sexy man gabe a million times over#the constant active choice to put him on a different plane (the stairs. his knees. the counter. etc) is sooooo strong and so visible#and how he often flinches away when others try to initiate contact with him but when HE initiates he holds on for dear life
