#hold on let me have the five seconds of indignation out and i shall be sane again #i taught the first engineer boy to buy flowers for his performing significant other at a concert #i taught him how to roll up his sleeves and fix his darn shirt. and how to dress for this kind of event #i stayed with him because he was a little antsy about meeting the girl's parents #i taught him to offer to hold a lady's bag on the walk home #and that was just today. i did not need to do those things WHY did i do those things #i am thankfully not in love with him anymore so that's not the problem #the problem is that im sick and tired of being the one who Helps and the one who Aids and the one who assists in smoothing the way for his #happiness. and that is a bit of a blanket statement im not claiming to have formed him like pygmalion and galatea or anything #it is just. i know i HAVE smoothed the way and i know there is no thanks for it not that im asking for it #i just resent the fact that this is my role. stagehand in other people's stories #again!!!!!!!!!!!!!#like why am i the one teaching you how to treat a girl well. considering the history and circumstances

hank hill would stand up for furry kids in the local schools.

#bee bumbles #i don't entirely go here. i know a fair amount thru clips. a few episodes when i was a kid. and like. osmosis.#but as far as my husband and i see it; a current king of the hill episode could EASILY be as follows:#bobby defends some furries at his school. gets sent to detention but ends up making friends with the kids.#they give him a lil dangly pocket fox tail thingy. maybe some ears or somethin. hank sees him wearing them later in the day.#bobby explains what happened. hank is left perplexed. a tad uncomfortable. but ultimately shakes it off.#meanwhile rumours begin to spread amongst the town. tales of litter boxes. etc etc. hank begins to feel a sense of indignance.#because that's silly and lying is a sin or something.#this all culminates in a pta meeting that becomes rather harsh towards the children at the school. an ABSURD concept. to be sure.#hank finally speaks up about it and it's so beautiful. i'm rotating it in my mind. ah.

i will say arguments online did get a lot easier once i started learning to just directly say when people are misinterpreting things, to the point i hesitate to even call most of them arguments anymore? like it's easy to get caught up in responding to the other person as if their interpretation of what you said was correct because you do still disagree with their conclusion based on that, but like once you point out that there was a misinterpretation involved it becomes a lot easier for people to then follow that to "maybe the fact you had to misinterpret me to make those arguments says something about them too"

#like. idk how to explain this right but i guess like #the shame of 'i yelled at someone for no reason and feel bad about it' helps break down the walls around an idea?#moreso at least than the shame of 'you think my opinions are bad'#bc that one doesnt inspire shame so much as anger/indignation #and whether their opinions objectively suck or not‚ people do not like to listen to people they feel like are attacking them #and we can argue back and forth forever on whether its ok for them to ignore moral criticism because it wasnt said nicely enough #but that won't really change anything #like. tone policing bad‚ yes‚ but also as ive said before all the sound theory in the world wont make people actually listen #so if your goal really is to get people to listen then like. you should be prepared to meet them halfway #they shouldnt expect politeness but you also shouldn't expect a positive response if you're mean #because that expectation simply . is not realistic #or i guess it's just like. 'dont force me to be perfectly nice' ≠ 'let me be as mean as i want with no consequences'#origibberish

The detail of Tessa really wanting to be accepted by shadowhunters as co head of institute and being so excited/intent to make a good impression with the few visitors they do get :(.
