Can we agree that duels are dumb and immature
Sure, but your man has to answer for his words burr
With his life we both know that's absurd sir
Hang on how many men died because lee was inexperienced and ruinous

fave lyrics from "ten duel commandments"?
i love how you sent this ask right after midnight (if i'm correct). i wasn't going to do it today cause i'm so tired i can barely even think, but let's go, i don't want to miss a day:
pick a place to die where it's high & dry - i don't know i just noticed i love all the lines about dying for some reason oops
can we agree that duels are dumb & immature? - oh, the irony of this line...
hang on, how many men died because lee was inexperienced & ruinous?/ok, so we're doing this! - i just love the way it rhymes & it's so fucking funny to me
bonus: a little bit about the inspiration for this song:
Tumblr media
i also recommend to listen to the song cause it's really fun when you know ten duel commandments:

Willow Weaver - Scion 2e
Advancing her to Legend 4
Okay, let's do the next version of Willow, and since we're talking yokai and monstrosity. Let's go with a mix of a Scion and Titanspawn and possibly with a touch of Magic based on Willow's origin though not going for a full sorcerer.
I'm going to start with an Origin character for roughly right after she was changed.
Step One - Concept: Willow is a merger of a spirit associated with spiders, trees, and rivers with a mortal exorcist. So, towards this we need three paths.
Origin Path: Exorcist on the Path Associated Skills: Occult, Integrity, Culture Willow's born to a family of occultists and exorcists. She's young and relatively inexperienced, but she's got some talent and has handled a few tasks on her own by the time of the fateful events.
Role Path: Web, Wood, and Water Associated Skills: Persuasion, Subterfuge, Close Combat In the wake of her near death, Willow's body has been reforged and rebuilt by a spirit that does not well understand humanity. She is, too many, an inhuman monster with inscrutable motivations. To be fair to them, there is such a being attached to her, and she has not come through unchanged, but she clings to a human anchorage.
Society Path: Twisted Divinity (Kami) Associated Skills: Culture, Persuasion, Occult The spirit that nearly killed Willow has been twisted by its long entrapment while being exploited by cruel and murderous occultists that sought to steal power rather than take on less ruinous methods. She sits between the heavenly wisdom of a god and the bitter grudge of a yokai, and Willow has to help her navigate that. (While I'm more considering Willow for a not!Earth setting, the flavors and themes I'm drawing on come from some Japanese folktales, so this fits pretty well.)
Step Two: Skills To determine starting skills we need to prioritize the above roles. I'm going to prioritize her origin primarily since the other two represent rather new-to-her situations. Primary: Exorcist on the Path Secondary: Twisted Divinity Tertiary: Web, Wood, and Water
That gives the following skills: Close Combat: 1 Culture: 5 Integrity: 3 Occult: 5 Persuasion 3 Subterfuge: 1
The skills that are 3 or higher need specialties so here we go. She's grown up as an exorcist and probably has a fair understanding of how to interact with different sorts of cults. As a note, cults in Scion don't have the same stigma and most everybody belongs to some sort of cult, most of which are barely active in the occult. That would seem to make this too broad of a specialty, but in general, I imagine that while she sticks to topics of religious practices that she has an exceptional sense for how to proceed. As an exorcist, keeping her mind focused and avoid distractions is so that seems good for that. The Occult specialty in exorcism is natural. I was tempted to do Persuasion, but most of the Persuasion dots come from her relationship with a very angry spirit, so I went the wrath route instead. Close Combat: 1 Culture: 5 (Cults) Integrity: 3 (Focus) Occult: 5 (Exorcism) Persuasion 3 (Intimidation) Subterfuge: 1
Step Three: Attributes As with Skills, we need to prioritize the Arenas here and I think I'll go with the following:
Primary: Physical Secondary: Mental Tertiary: Social And then we need a favored Approach, which will be Resilience
My thinking here is that her transformation has made her a very physically powerful entity and before it she was reasonably intelligent person who unfortunately was prone to missing certain social cues, otherwise she might have discovered the danger early on. I think her central calm and focus is part of why she was able to survive the spirit's attack long enough for it to realize she wasn't an enemy and do what it could to heal her.
The stats will look like this:
Physical - Might **** - Dexterity *** - Stamina **** Mental - Reason *** - Cunning ** - Resolve **** Social - Presence ** - Manipulation * - Composure **** The bonus for Favored is marked in bold.
Since this is statting her post change, I was going to give her Monster, but realized I can get that more thematically later in finishing touches. so instead. Sage
Sage *
And for knack: Presence of Magic so she can sense when the supernatural is nearby.
That comes to finishing touches:
First, she gets 5 extra skill dots, one bonus Attribute dot and either two knacks, or four points of birthrights... and it's going to birthrights.
For skills, I'm adding two to Close Combat, one to Subterfuge, and 2 to Athletics. This brings Close Combat to 3 and as a house rule, I give a free specialty when a skill hits 3 so I'm going to say "Ambush" because... spider.
The extra attribute is going into Manipulation. Thus meaning she was about average in most things, but a bit smarter than most people, before she encountered the situation that led to her change. This puts her at:
Athletics 2 Close Combat: 3 (Ambush) Culture: 5 (Cults) Integrity: 3 (Focus) Occult: 5 (Exorcism) Persuasion 3 (Intimidation) Subterfuge: 2 Physical - Might **** - Dexterity *** - Stamina **** Mental - Reason *** - Cunning ** - Resolve **** Social - Presence ** - Manipulation ** - Composure ****
Now, for her Birthright... This is easy. It's a Guide
Guide 4 (The Spider Spirit, unnamed right now) Asset Skills: Occult, Close Combat Legendary Title: The Many Eyes of the Seal Calling: Monster Guide Stunt: Extended Presence, when you roll Occult, You can extend your mind into that of the spiders in the scene. Spend 1-3 successes. For each success you spend you gain a +1 enhancement to your next Procedure or Intrigue roll to investigate that area. As a note, the rank of the guide isn't necessarily about how powerful the guide is, but rather how much impact the guide has on the person's life. And this guide is literally bonded to Willow.
Defense is based on her resilience attributes, all of which are 4, so there we go.
Health is based on Stamina, She has Stamina 4 so she has a second Bruised level consequence so her health looks like this: Bruised Bruised Injured Maimed Taken Out
I think I'll level her up to Legend 3 (where she gets her Omen) in another post.

it’s ... tough for him to relent. arturo expects a kind of excellence from the aurors that work underneath him. he always has, but he’s tougher on them, at times like these ; it’s hard not to be overly conscious of the microscope that the entire department is under when it comes to a more high profile case, and it’s his job to think about how everything looks to the outside world. he’s the one that’s meant to ensure everything runs smoothly, that there are no ruinous fuck ups that affect the public image of the investigation, at any point. his personal relationships, the sympathy he might just have for the greener aurors who are so far inexperienced when it comes to things like this ... he sets all that aside, and he’s usually pretty good at it. the persona that jack has dubbed a hard ass has become so ingrained in who he is that arturo has near forgotten what it feels like to be on the other side of it or thrown for a loop by what he finds, but when it comes to gracie ...- well, that harrowed look on her face tells him everything he needs to know, and when he takes her under the elbow and steers her out of the room, his grip is iron clad. to an outsider of the strange kind of duo they comprise of, it looks for all the world as if lead investigator arturo de la rosa has already lost his patience with the young auror taken under his wing. the door out to the side alley closes behind them and inside, everyone waits for the roar of get your shit together they know is coming - except it doesn’t. instead ... “you can’t be here,” comes gruff assertion, stating the fact they BOTH already know as plain as day, “go home, grace. you’re not on this case.”

"The Cruel Prince" by Holly Black
"The Cruel Prince" is nothing like I expected, and I have to admit that I was actually disappointed. Not terribly, but I wanted it to be... more.
The story is set in a faerie kingdom that sits "in the shadows" of the modern, mortal world, which can be traversed with special, realm-traveling magic. The reader follows Jude, who is originally from the mortal realm, as she is taken by Madoc, her eldest sister's (Vivi) biological father, and raised the rest of her life in the faerie kingdom. Jude and Taryn, Jude's twin sister, do not belong in Elfhame and they are reminded everyday by all of its Fae inhabitants. Though, no one treats the twins quite as horribly as Prince Cardan and his gaggle of friends.
There are a few reasons why "The Cruel Prince" was not the warm cup of tea that I expected - one of them being that Jude and the people who make her feel the most unwelcome are all schoolmates. Meaning that, yes, she is considered a child in this novel. And this isn't one of those young, inexperienced, child-like explanatives. She is genuinely a child. She goes to school (called "lessons"), asks her "father" for permission to do certain things, is not allowed to drink the wine, and practices sword-fighting with wooden swords. These things combined ultimately ruined the enjoyability of this novel for me. While a lot of the books I read involve protaganists of the teenage variety, this one was just a little too juvenile for me.
My other, rather large, complaint is that there was almost no romance at all between the two characters we are promised romance from. The utter lack of it was baffling to me since I read all the reviews and stories about Jude and Prince Cardan - and the enemies-to-lovers trope, which is what drew me to this book in the first place. There was nothing of the sort in this first installment. Cardan was cruel (expected), but there was no real revelation of any romantic feelings from either of the characters - only pure hatred and revenge against the other. And that was in the moments where the two were actually together. There are probably two chapters' worth, which is a generous estimate, of Jude and Cardan speaking or doing anything together in this entire book. I kept holding out for every new page, for them to finally have the moment. Needless to say, I was left pretty burned.
The fact that this was a fantasy with a modern twist was not all that ruinous for me - surprisingly, since I usually hate when that happens. I didn't mind it here, though, as the majority of the story is set in the medieval-esque Elfhame and the accessibility of the mortal world eventually played a major part towards the end of the novel.
For all the things I didn't love about "The Cruel Prince," the end was magnificent. It delivered on suspense, betrayal, confusion, and shock. Jude's character arc gradually showed her in a more destructive-yet-powerful role, and she confidently ran with whatever power she was given. Being raised in a world where she felt constantly powerless, it was nice to see her gain the strength and determination she needed to turn things around in her favor. She definitely took opportunity by its proverbial horns. I liked that for Jude, and I'm glad the book ended the way it did (though, no happily ever after). It promises an interesting sequel, if nothing else.
However, I still wished to see Prince Cardan in Jude's "romantic" plans for whatever future she's begun dreaming up for herself. I know what you're thinking, but I am a feen for a good romance and I was determined to be satisfied in "The Cruel Prince." Yes, Jude bested those who betrayed her. She was the mastermind behind the grandest scheme her counterparts had probably seen in centuries, and she was courageous, cunning, and devouringly confident. But I needed the romance that I was promised!
All in all, I haven't decided if I will continue the series. Admittedly, I do really want to know in which direction this story will steer. I am also still holding onto some hope for there to be actual romance between Jude and Cardan (and trying to get over my scorn for the lack thereof in the first book). Time will tell if I have enough of that hope to dive into the sequel, "The Wicked King."

Actually instead of just being shady in tags and moving on from the TG fandom, I’m gonna petty post about it.  I think the most recent chapter proves that Kaneki, at this time, is too emotionally immature to love Touka. He has repeatedly placed his own desires above hers, has failed to treat her as an equal partner (re: his placement of her in his mindscape during that tournament as someone distant and relegated to praying for him, his dismissal of her throughout the entire manga as a capable fighter, how he constantly makes her wait for him, and how he repeatedly chooses to go off on his own without consulting her, AND how he is now making a series of decisions she has been clearly shown in the manga to disapprove of severely...to his face), and has made loving her proof of his own existence.  Nothing he does is about Touka. It is about himself. It has always been about himself. Touka clearly wants a partnership - she has taken action repeatedly to reach Kaneki with her thoughts, opinions, and abilities. She’s trying to save a suicidal man with selfless love, which is a path that ultimately leads to destruction.  I don’t hate this ship (I’ve written for it before), but the way that it is playing out in the manga is CLEARLY representing the relationship as enabling Kaneki and further hindering Touka’s emotional growth.  ALSO!!!! This doesn’t mean I hate Kaneki. I love the guy and I love Touka to bits. However it is obviously in character for Kaneki to do this, no matter how well-meaning he is, and it’s also totally in character for Touka to respond to it in the way she has (enabling).

Congratulations, my friend! Woo! 🎉 okay okay, me, a slut for a certain Mandalorian bounty hunter. Is it possible to request some fluffy spice with Din? Maybe he’s less experienced and he’s being his reserved, metallic self and you take control and ease him into it. IDK. I’m a soft bitch atm, what can I say hehe.
Hello lovely! I'm so sorry this took so long but here is a lil something something
Guidance Din Djarin/F!Reader M - 630 words
Warnings: Idk what to call this - light smut? Smut lite? They're doin it. Inexperienced!Din, reader taking charge, mild fluff, references to Din Djarin's magic fingers, p in v sex.
Tumblr media
The Mandalorian is solid steel, unyielding - the immovable object to your unstoppable force. He always has been. And yet it feels, in a way, inevitable - inevitable that you should collide this way, two celestial bodies meeting with total destruction only to create something new in the black tar-wash of the empty void. He is the spark and you are the tinder, burning bright.
He lets you guide him, and that surprises you - expecting, as with all things, Mando to take command of the situation, as he does effortlessly in negotiation or battle - and, sometimes, both at the same time. But he is almost docile, like some fractious beast that’s been tamed by your touch.
He sits on the edge of the bunk as if he’s a bystander, watching with a tilted helmet while you shed your clothes. Then you tug at his. The armor goes first, of course, and he is the one to remove it - slowly, piece by piece, with due reverence. He leaves the helm on and you are blessed enough by the golden expanse of muscled skin dusted by scars old and new that you do not ask for more.
You fall together onto the bunk - the narrow space fills with the sound of your breath and the modulated rasp of his. You mark him with your lips, your tongue, your hands. You reduce the mighty Mandalorian warrior to a panting mess and only let up when his fingers fist through your hair.
“Do you want me to stop, Mando?”
“No.”
But he keeps his hands there, or on your shoulder, or on your hip - like he’s trying to keep himself grounded - like he can’t believe you’re real. It occurs to you then, belatedly, that perhaps he hasn’t done this before, or at least not often enough to make him quite the expert as he is with a weapon.
It is your turn to hesitate - Can you, should you take this from him, a man who has been robbed of so many things in his life? But Mando assuages your doubts when he takes your hands and guides them to where he is unmistakably hard for you. You touch him and he groans, deep in his chest, with the distant rumble of an imploding star.
Next, you show him where to touch you - and he is a devastatingly fast learner. You moan Mando just once, and he hushes you with a finger at your lips. “Din Djarin,” he says, and that is the name you cry out later into the semi-darkness of the ship, overcome.
You can’t catch your breath with his bare hands on you - his fingers, clever and thick - then before you know it you’re on your back and he is between your thighs seating himself at the moist cleft between your legs.
You instruct him in muted, soft, desperate whispers - a “Slower” here or a “Faster” there and then, as the momentum builds, “Deeper” - and Din Djarin responds at once, learning the reactions of your body like he’s learning how to fire a new rifle. He handles you with care at first until you’re rolling him under you again and demonstrating your needs with the ruinous undulation of your body above his.
You feel dizzy, like you’re plummeting from a great height, like your body has fallen out of sync with the artificial gravity of the ship. You don’t land until you’re both spent, shaking - the Mandalorian; no, Din Djarin below you, panting, fingers digging into your hips with bruising force while distant cramps tremble in your thighs.
“Was that - okay?” he asks, his rough baritone vaporous, making you think of some terrible, destructive force filling the vacuum behind your breastbone with fire and smoke.
“Yes,” you answer, now and forever: “Yes, yes, yes.”
