I have such a very specific fandom complaint where I don't like 90% of my fandom's creative output not because it's bad or anything, but because it all revolves around an aspect of the series I cannot bring myself to care about.
For reference this is about Pokemon - a lot of fandom material is about the various human characters, and I don't care about the human characters. Almost all of them are completely bland in the games, and while the various anime runs can provide *some* interesting characterization, since the anime is predominantly marketed towards children it's not very *deep* characterization. Bad guys will be pretty cut and dry bad, good guys will be pretty cut and dry good (and overpowered to boot). Throw in some bright and flashy colors and various abilities to sell toys, rinse and repeat forever. And sure, fandom can try and make better characterization, with more nuance and depth! But then I'm just consuming fanon instead of canon material, which is *also* bad for me.
So instead I like to focus on what is (to me) the more interesting speculative worldbuilding concepts with the monster-human interactions. How the world works when you add these partner animals into the mix as infrstructure (like can Conkeldurrs and Machokes used for construction unionize? what does agriculture look like with grass-types in the mix?), digging into the theology established in the games (like do some places place more emphasis on their 'regional' deities, like Johto on the Three Beasts/Two Birds/Celebi, compared to the more monotheistic worship of Arceus?), how the biology of the creatures works (how does a fire-type make its fire?), things like that.
But there are...very few people who are into this aspect besides me, and even fewer who can approach it with a good level of skill.
I would *love* it if we could get a monster-taming series that is made with more mature themes in mind so the characters can actually have depth, while still having the wide diversity of Pokemon, so that I could actually participate in the fandom proper. But unfortunately the last time someone tried that we got Palworld which was all edge and no point, so uh. Guess I'll be waiting a while longer.

huh. I had never once suspected the dam project itself might be connected to any of this.
Supposing it WAS done on purpose, by someone who knows about Hinamizawa Syndrone, surely that's like kicking the hornet's nest, right? forcing all the infected people to move elsewhere, which will set them off.
You'd think they might have some plan for dealing with Rika in that case. If the dam were to get built, wherever she moved to might well become Hinamizawa 2.0
But there's no evidence of that. As far as I know, it really is just a normal dam constructed for normal infrstructure reasons.
