Am I the only one that's a bit meh about that fact that we're getting 4 remakes (My Precious, Ossan's Love, Highschool Frenemy, and My Love Mix-up).

Unpopular opinion but remakes are always a hit or miss (90% of the time it's the latter) - I couldn't watch my precious because all I could think of was the original Taiwanese movie

On a more exciting note I'm super excited for Pluto! I wasn't expecting to see Namtan in a GL

Here's to hoping GMMTV2024 part 2's going to have better shows

Cherry Magic will be the first remake I watch where I've seen the original so I'm curious to see the differences. And you view these things differently when you're biased by the original anyway. I actually have high hopes for My Love Mixup because I did not like the original but I think I'm gonna like this one better.

I'm also SO excited for Pluto, it's giving Not Me x Last Twilight lmao, the twin- and the blindness plots have their challenges but I trust Film and Namtan bc they're amazing and a perfect fit for this imo. Can't wait 🥹

I'm also hoping for a higher quality lineup for part 2 lol, we know Jojo and Aof will be there at least and also FK so there has to be something good in there lol. Bring it ✌🏻

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

i watched bad buddy exactly 3 months ago on the 15th of May, 2023. i watched all the episodes all on the same day and i know the date because after finishing the show i sent a 7 minute long audio note gushing about the show to my best friend. i ADORED it that much. and that's where all of this started. i loved the show so much and the lack of people i knew irl who were interested meant i had to find other people in the fandom to freak out with. i kept posting one after another favourite bad buddy edit of mine on my twitter page, gushing about it, but i got barely any response and that's when i reminded myself that tumblr exists and i should get back on here. and that's how i made this account 2 weeks after i watched the show and voila here i am surrounded by people who are as crazy about the show as i am and i couldn't be more delighted about it :')

"i wrote this song for him", "one man can't change the world, but this world can't change me too"), and the soft loving looks of adoration making me clutch my chest, but also there was the quintessential patpran banter and bad buddy humour and wisdom i LOVE this episode with all my heart.

episode 5 is perfection. it comes second for me, but that kiss will always be number 1 <3

ive been getting super frustrated with having no time or energy to write (or really do anything) recently so im just gonna start posting snippets of stuff ive half written to try and make up for it.

speaking of which, here’s a little thing i wrote after going to a women’s football game and instantly wanting to write an inkpa football au.

“Pat’s gonna study engineering.”

“Pat’s gonna take over the family business.”

“Pat’s gonna be just like his dad.”

Pa remembers hearing these sentiments as soon as she was old enough to understand what they meant. Pat was the eldest, the prodigal son. He would tread in his father’s footsteps and carry the family name, and bring respect to it. There was no doubt about it, his life was set.

No one ever told Pa what she was going to be.

She never liked that as a kid. It seemed so easy for Pat, everything laid out in front of him, future already decided. He didn’t have to do any of this annoying thinking or discovery, didn’t have to huff and hum when teachers asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. He already knew.

“Am I going to be like you then, Ma?” she onced asked.

“No darling, you can be anything you want to be.” Ma replied, which Pa was kind of glad of. She loved Ma, but staying at home and doing all the housework and sometimes helping out Papa with the business did seem a bit boring. But at the same time, at least it was something. ‘Anything’ was a bit scary when you were 5 years old, especially when everyone was too busy setting Pat up for success to tell her how to figure out what that ‘thing’ was.

Instead of going to any of the clubs she thought could be interesting, she followed along after Pat wherever Papa sent him. Boxing, Judo, Tennis, Piano, Guitar, plus all the extra academic classes, she did them all too. She was only a year younger than Pat anyway, so it made sense, and meant Papa only had to make one trip after school. She might have been upset that they never went to the clubs she wanted to go to, if only she was passionate enough about a club to care.

But then Papa took them to football practice. It was a drizzly afternoon early in the year, but not early enough to stop the humidity from hanging heavy in the air. Pa hated storm seasons, and hated even more being outside in them. The ground was slippery with wet mud that splattered up her fresh, white knee socks, and the hair that escaped her ponytail clung to the sides of her face. Her least favourite part was the way raindrops splattered on her glasses like the windscreen of a car, except she didn’t have any wipers so she couldn’t just flick a lever and magically see again, but that would only be an issue if she was wearing her glasses. Papa had told her to take them off before practice, because he didn’t want a football to the face smashing them to pieces (he failed to mention how that would also smash Pa’s face to pieces), but it meant either way she couldn’t see all that well. Around her were about a dozen other girls who either looked way too into it or like they’d rather be anywhere else, there was no middle ground. They’d been plopped on the field haphazardly in their green and yellow bibs, with only a quick briefing of the rules to Pa before she was put centerfield. The shouts and roars from the boys team on the other side of the field carried over to them to fill their silence until finally the whistle blew.

Then everyone started to move and a ball was kicked at her and the coach was screaming at her to run, so she did. She sprinted down the pitch, kicking the ball in front of her, shooting past teammates and defenders alike until the goal was in front of her. Calls of “Shoot” made it through the rush of air and adrenaline in her ears, so she booted the ball as hard as she could, hard enough to make her lose her balance and land with a yelp on her backside, her hands and the backs of her legs covered in wet mud. She cursed herself as she wiped her hands on her sides with a grimace, looking up to see the ball sitting unassumingly in the goalie’s net. The world came to and people were running towards her with screams and cheers, even the coach asking if she was alright through a surprised smile. Everyone was helping her up and patting her on the back but all she could keep looking at was the ball in the goal. She’d done it. She’d actually scored. She was sodden and dirty and cold but she’d scored. She’d never been so happy in her life.

hi I am intrigued by wibble wobbles the nines are gone, what is this? 👀

omg okay, so that's my v ridiculous name that i came up with when i was sleep drunk at 3.30am for the episode 9...not rewrite, because i adore ep9, but it's a 'what if' reimagining i first outlined here. there's a lot of things fueling this WIP--a large part of it is need for more inkpa (a (very) small snippet here), as well as more Pran & Paa with a good side dose of Ming learning Pran's always been there for Paa in a helpful capacity. I think it'd also lead to more of Pran being an emotional support for Pat as he faces an old fear and struggle, which is always good. But another part of my drive is based around how despite the fact that Pat getting shot is a hilarious Romeo & Juliet parallel to me and i get so much fuel from that scene for fics, wrapping Wai's reconciliation into it almost makes it too dramatic to have the desired impact

i actually really like how the resolution with Wai happened in canon. it happens to a lot of parallels to my own relationship and past outing issues with my brother, so it resonates really well for me. i like that we get to see Wai fully support and comfort Pran in a way he hadn't really done so prior to that episode. i think Wai's a neat character and i have a soft spot for characters that are their own worst enemies. but ep9 as it stands is still the messiest episode of the series, and i think the sheer drama of the shooting scene & near arrest flattens both Wai and Pran during their reconciliation arc. i also want Pran to get to express some of his anger in a way beyond forcing his friends to deal with him being grossly in love Pat and for them to have a proper talk.

i apologize in advance because i can tell im building up to a long ramble, but i've been in a rut of Pran & Wai feelings lately, specifically around how their resolution played out in canon. not to start with the hot stone in this, but i think a lot of people were so angry at Wai for dropping the curtain in ep8, that they kinda...totally skipped over just what was revealed in Wai's POV of it in ep9?

like take a second to stand in Wai's shoes--you overhear your best friend since high school tell the guy that you hate that "you're my boyfriend. i'm scared of people knowing, but i care about you more."

and he says that to him, even though you have noticed something's up with him and asking if he's okay for more than a year

Wai's been looking out for Pran for ages. he knows Pran holds his feelings to his chest, so he's really careful about how he asks and pushes Pran to reveal what he's thinking. but he asks Pran what's been weighing on his mind before the beach trip, during the beach trip, when he's trying to compose the play's score, before Pran lies to him to bail on getting drinks with him to go on a date with Pat, during the not-a-date ramen competition (& Pran has been using him to tease Pat btws), when the two of them go get drinks before Pran bails on him to go comfort Pat. Wai has been asking Pran to open up for a really fucking long time, but respected the fact that his friend wasn't ready to open up to him about what he's wrestling with. but then Wai hears his best friend tell his 'enemy' that he cares about him more than his fear, which unfortunately has the unintentional double implication that Pran doesn't care about Wai more than his fear (which isn't true, but again: Wai doesn't know about Pran and Pat's history, because Pran's lied about it from the start)

does any of this justify him outing Pat and Pran? absolutely not. should he have talked to Pran about his hurt feelings instead of cutting himself off from Pran? YEAH. but Wai's not wrong for feeling hurt by the situation either. Pran's 10000% right to call Wai out for making it difficult to discuss his relationship with Pat to him, but we also can't ignore the fact that Pran's tendency to hide and lie to avoid difficult/emotional situations didn't help things either.

as episode 9 stands, a lot of the nuance in Pran & Wai's discussions gets a little lost imo. i love how it starts--Pran reaching out to Wai first is so good and amazing to me. i LOVE this subtle building of Pran's character and the implications it has for his childhood friendship with Pat--he's always been shaped by this hatred between his house and their neighbors, as well as Dissaya's pain over her fallout with her childhood friend. he lies and manipulates others to avoid conflict because he hates it, hates how its always been his burden, hates the pain its caused him literally all his life. and here, with Wai, it'd be so much easier for him to completely cut ties. but it'd hurt. it would hurt him so much to lose his friends, even if it'd be easier, and instead of isolating the way we know he's prone to, he reaches out first. and! this is noticeably the opposite of how Dissaya (didn't) handle her pain with Ming! Pran is and has always been the first one to break the cycle of pain between the two families--first in helping Paa, then building his friendship with Pat, then trying to find peace between the faculties. and for me, him reaching out first to Wai is this wonderful and subtle reinforcement of how he subverts our expectations and why he's my favorite character in BBS

so with episode 9, i would've loved something a little less dramatic than Pat getting shot that would've tied into that reoccurring theme in Pran's character a little more. the silent apology from Wai to him also got a little lost between ep9 to ep10, which put more of the burden on Pran ): so i want him and Wai to have a proper talk where Wai struggles with his messy feelings over everything and Pran is a little more honest about his connection with Pat, and Pran gets a proper spoken apology from Wai. Wai resolves to be a better friend and we see more of him being that better friend in situations where he wouldn't have to be (like, Wai wouldn't leave Pat to rot in prison for something he didn't do, that's just not who Wai is. so pushing Wai to instead be open with Pran and support/help him without bringing any of his own personal drama into it, in contrast to his past actions, has a bigger impact for me)

okay wow uh. so this story ramble RLY got away from me ahjfjhfjhf i think this even counts as meta now? rip. check out the other two links above for the Pran & Paa and Inkpa sides of this fic, but basically this fic is me grossly sobbing over Pran & Paa. breaking the cycle of hatred between their families really started with them and i think the ways that hatred and anger shaped the three kids is a lot more subtle with the two of them, and maybe gets a little lost in the fast paced narrative. so the ep9 alt doc is a lot of me crying over their character nuances but in writing fic form because i can't write proper meta to save my life 😂

First off, my apologies for being late to the Anon Roundtable . Let's just say i was too ohmerwhelmed to interact yesterday.

Now let's get to business. Even tho most of the things i hoped for didn't happen, im still quite satisfied with the episode. Atleast i was right about the getting caught part . I really hoped to see Wai only as a protective friend but this episode has really established his role in everything now . Such a shit head tho . Makes me want to poke him in the eye.

Anyway, I don't want to talk about the angst that happened in the episode. BUT let's talk about some things i noticed in the preview.

First from the preview, I don't think they are going to break up just yet. Especially since Pat said smth like , '' I can say we broke up. I can do it for you" Even if Pran might have been thinking of Breaking up , after hearing Pat say that , I don't think he will ask Pat to do so . ( My heart just evaporated right out of my chest when i heard Pat say that btw)

Second, Pa 's conflict is not bcz it's Pran and Pat but more bcz it's 'two boys dating' . I think she says that to Ink bcz she really isn't used to the idea of same sex relationships. Now one more thing that has me convinced about this is how we still don't know about Pa's feelings towards Ink . Notice how we get close ups of Ink looking at Pa with loving eyes(specially the restaurant scene) but we haven't really gotten the same look from Pa yet . Pa looks at Ink more in an admiring kind of way . There's a noticable difference between both of their expressions. So i think Pa is oblivious to her feelings for Ink . How this connects to her opinion on PatPran is that , by talking to Ink about this she's gonna become aware of some things. I really do believe this whole confrontation about PatPran between her and Ink is going to advance their relationship too . By looking at PatPran and Ink's opinion on them, she might start questioning her relationship with Ink too . She might finally become aware of her feelings . And we get our long awaited InkPa in HD .

i don't think they are going to break up either (and i am putting that "just yet" away, because i still believe they might never break up at all, because it's unnecessary and an overused trope). also, i instantly read what pat said as him suggesting they lie. tell everyone they broke up and be five thousand times more careful from that point on. because it's "i can SAY we broke up" - not "let's break up" or "we can break up".

i do think your theory about pa could be correct, and it makes sense with what she says. also narratively, this is the easiest way to push a secondary couple's relationship further (because the main couple is still involved and it's a big enough thing to be a believable push).

i love the classic stop motion animated movies, my favorites are rudolph and a year without santa claus (just bc i love the miser brothers). i also love to watch the netflix holiday romcoms, my favorites this year were love hard and single all the way. we don't do gingerbread, but we do bon bons filled with cherries, chocolate, or raisins! and we decorate sugar cookies that don't necessarily taste great but are so cute!!

(also i apologize for the delay in answering this ask, i went to go find reference pics for the suits i was imagining for them and uhm. got a wee bit distracted. for three days. whoops)

anyways!! to begin:

fic in 2 parts because i want both of them in suits. but the first one in a suit is Ink ofc. set shortly after Ink and Paa get together, there's some faculty event where people are encouraged to come dressed semi formally. i remember my school having a ton of these when i was a first year and we'd show up in everything ranging from our pajamas and snuggies to full on suits and fancy dresses so like. that's the vibe of this lol

Paa is delighted for a chance to dress up (she has so many cute semi-fancy dresses but few occasions to wear them, and now that she has a girlfriend to appreciate her in them, she's ready to blow Ink's mind!!) but then she arrives to whatever the social is, and she sees Ink. wearing. a suit. it's a casual slouchy thing, a dark turtleneck under a baggy jacket, high-waisted and loose legged pants, and sneakers (ref: similar to THIS, but diff shoes and slightly looser jacket & pants lines)

Paa is dying. things sure are happening at this thing, but she sure couldn't tell you what!! she's been drinking from an empty cup for 10 min. her eyes are getting itchy because she hasn't blinked since she saw Ink. if Ink doesn't look at her in the next two minutes, Paa is going to die. according to Gigie, no less than twenty people tried to talk to her, except Paa's sure she's lying because she doesn't remember a single one of them.

ends with makeouts ofc. Paa lasts a whole 14 minutes before she's impatiently dragging a delighted Ink away. Paa is on a mission and if anyone gets between her, Ink, and private place, Paa cannot be held accountable for her actions. Paa can't really say for sure what she's looking for, it's mostly instinct seeking out something to give her a little height. they're marching through a garden when Paa looks down at a curb and says a mental 'fucking finally' and just. whirls on Ink and kisses her. Ink does a remarkable job acting like a normal person the whole time through despite being Paa's arm candy, but all bets are off the second the two of them are alone.
