SEESAW

#InspiredByBTS TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions of violence. A failed relationship. Toxic relationship. But a hopeful ending. They acknowledge their issues and they are aware of it. They just don't want to get out and live without the other.

To be honest, no one really is to blame here. If they were in normal circumstances they could have pointed fingers, Ron himself knows that he would have been a rather simple-minded boyfriend. No large gestures or anything, and there would even be times that he would have forgotten about important dates, which would lead to them fighting and then breaking up.

Only to come back together again. He knows, as he stared at his emerald, green eyes, that they would be beautifully toxic to each other. And they would continue in that cycle, up until they fixed their issue and end up with each other.

"I think..." Harry is in a rather delicate state. It was directly after the war; they were both exhausted and tired- thrown into the battlefield at such an early age.

For him, it was a sudden change. He has memories of a time where everything was at least peaceful and calm. He has a family to rely on, brothers and a sister to hide behind on (or so that was the Ginny that came with them on the Department of Mysteries; he still has this memory of her coming up to him and relying on him). Harry doesn't have anything like that, though he claims that the time he spent with him and Hermoine were the best and closest to what he has of that.

"I think we have to go our separate ways for now." He has to become the bad guy, the one to let go first. He knows, they both know, that they loved each other too much. No one will make the first move even if the current existence of their relationship was too much for the both of them.

Harry turned to him, his face giving off only two things: despair and... understanding.

"I love you Ron... And I know." Harry said, giving him a tight hug. He hugged back much firmer. He sighed, looking up at the darkening sky. Gosh, they were a couple of dramatic blokes, breaking up outside in a park.

"We're hurting each other," he whispered back, feeling the tears gathering on the shoulder that Harry is leaning on. Harry just nodded, acknowledging just how much the war fucked them up.

"We scream, we shout," he continued, "because that's all we've known to work with the people around us. If we hurt, if we show our wounds, that is when they'll believe us. Because we're bleeding."

Harry just nodded, staying quiet. After a few seconds of silence, Harry spoke up. His voice is chocked, shaky, and too quiet. But he could hear him just fine.

"Y-Yes... I think we need to let ourselves heal before we get into anything serious." Harry removed himself from his hug, wiping his tears away. He smiled at him, though it's only a fraction of the smile that he genuinely shows the people that he trusts. Now, he knows what that looks like, and it's because of him.

It hurts to become Ron Weasley at the moment.

But it's not like he and Harry should continue in this very very toxic cycle of theirs. Their ups and downs aren't the same as other couples; they fight, they communicate, and they go back to the way they were. But there were just too many thorns in between them that they need to remove before they could become anything permanent.

"We hurt each other, Harry. I hurt you." Anger issues, anger not at Harry, but at the circumstances that made them like this. And when their fighting became too much, he let it out on the one person he promised not to hurt; all his frustrations, all his regrets- it's not even the physical bruises that he gave him that made him pause and think.

It was the words that he let out. He didn't blame Harry— he never thought of blaming Harry. But sometimes, he said things that he knows would hurt him because he was the person with him.

"And I hurt you too." Harry said, caressing the bruise that formed on Ron's left cheek. He chuckled, hovering his hand at the bruise that he gave his emerald-eyed lover, looking at him for permission to touch it. Harry nodded, and he shakily touched the black in his collarbone.

"This is not a goodbye, Ron." Harry said, leaning forward, letting their foreheads touch. "This— this separation, this is a promise. To both of us, to ourselves, and to our broken relationship, that we would do better, we could do better."

Ron nods, playing with Harry's unruly wild hair. Gosh he'll miss waking up to Harry's soft breathing, playing with his hair, and staying in bed only to fall asleep again. And when he wakes up, breakfast is prepared and ready to be eaten.

But that was another motivation for him to get better.

"How about a final kiss for now? As you said, this is a break, not a permanent goodbye." He said with a smile, sliding his hand from Harry's hair to his face. He started caressing his face, just the way he likes it.

"A promise to coming back?" Harry asks. They both smiled and leaned in, ending everything in a sad but hopeful note.

And in the future, if they met again with both their feelings still the same; who knows what could happen? All they know is that they both loved each other enough to know that their hurting each other. They did the right thing.
